Toshiba Thrive - User Reviews

  • cant expect much from it now adays cause it did come out in 2011 lol but i will say its the best made rugged tablet even today. mine still works.

  • Use the slot

  • This tablet is fantastic for the average person who is needing a great tab for browsing. I sell mine at$59 but you can get it cheaper than what I have now is the time to get a good tablet and Toshiba laptop is best I've ever seen

  • There's nothing good at all to say about this tablet.

  • Do you know if this tablet can run an app called "TheBlaze" with reasonable response time? I know an elderly woman who just wants it to watch video and I have one that doesn't have a power cable. I don't want to buy the power cable for her if it's too slow to be useful.

  • Does it support full size as card???

  • Can you please tell me how to insert sim card into toshiba thrive AT105-T106?

  • Hey! Data missing. I own one. Exact model: AT105-108/AT105-1016/AT105-1032... Video recording: 720p. Last Android Update: v4.0.4 (ICS)

  • Yes. It supports

  • 1. Its batery is removable 2. It has full sized usb port and mini usb port Thought that description needed fix :)

  • got mine christmas 2011. I dont use it much these days because most of the apps crash, yahoo mostly but also many games wont perform once downloaded (flashing and crashing or goes straight to black after some use) is anyone else having similar problems? I called Toshiba since my tablet is out of warranty I had to pay for help. I was leary but worth a shot. They charged $39.95 to do a system reset!! thats it! no trouble shooting, no real tech support for $40!!

  • Does the Toshiba Regza AT 300 tab supports viber??

  • How do i call on my tabletplease help me

  • I can not get the sim place How can I get it??????????

  • Same here.. its annoying when some tablets don't have the right version to get certain apps or can't do certain actions. I have had mine the same amount as you

  • it does evidently dont pass the toshiba sign

  • Great tab... I have virtually forgotten my lap top.. With the USB I access all my data thru an external hard disk.. Two years + and still going strong. I only wish Toshiba enables Android upgrade...

  • I have had no problems with my thrive at all. Only thing I can ask for is update from ICS to jellybean 4.2 or the new KitKat 4.4 have had this tablet for two years this Xmas.

  • The tablet is my main device. I can use it as a laptop with a Bluetooth keyboard case. the 1Ghz processor is great , doesn't lag hardly ever. also , GSMarena the device can be officially updated up to Android 4.0 not 3.2. there is a USB port that is fully functional for Keyboard/Mouse and can charge phones too. Never had a problem. My screen is cracked but the touchscreen still works great! Even though the tablet is from 2011 it is well-spec'd and great.

  • I have owned the Thrive tablet since Oct. 2011. This machine has virtually replaced my laptop. If the speakers are the WORST complaint about this product, I would have to say that Toshiba hit a home run in android power and performance. Thrive can do anything that Apple can do, for less money. Sure I had to wait for the ICS update, but it did not interfere with MY LIFE. Listening and reading all of the complaints about media in general makes me feel I'll. We need to be more thankful and in awe of what we HAVE not what we think we are OWED in life. I grew up in the 60's man and this Internet stuff is rockin' so shut up hater's and start thinking and talking positive. Have faith in imagination and be grateful you can read this post! Aloha. Crystal

  • so sad ,u dont knw dat, ha ha ha

  • ya i do have the same prblum .... formt ua cell phone once .....

  • How do I use the calling

  • I love this tablet but am wondering if anyone else has had the problem I'm having with it. For some reason any music i copy to the device becomes fragmented and choppy when played back. Anyone else had this issue?

  • is this tab wil support Windows 8??

  • how and from where i can upgrade my thrive to ics?? also please tell me if it got slow or having any other issues after the upgradation??? please ur asistances required.

  • you will have to power off the Thrive and power it back on to get it to recognized the SD card

  • Wow Ice Cream Sandwich has rescued my tablet! Honestly I was disappointed when I first got it as a 3.0 device then it was upgraded to 3.2 and it was worst! but a week ago 4.0 update came up and literally change my Android experience the booting time is extremely faster and the functionality of my tablet is a lot better I am happy to have bought this item now and a Toshiba which really stands by its quality name.

  • Ice cream sandwich has landed and it made my thrive like brand new. Its much more fast, the screen seems to have gotten better and there's a difference in sound quality, better I suppose but then again I always use head phones.

  • Ya go radio shack an get full usb adpter lol an get net cable adpter hook to full usb an get cat6. Net cable lol an ur all gude

  • I am surprised reading about bad experiences of so many people! I bought this device about 10 months back and I love it. Everything about the device is just great - except its built-in speakers which are not loud enough for a movie or a song (I use them for VoIP calling all the time though). I use headphones for movies - no issues at all. Some people have complained about the touch screen. This device uses a capacitive touch screen. Such screens become unresponsive if dirt/smudge accumulates on the glass - it is not a Thrive specific problem. Clean the screen periodically with a micro-fibre cloth (read this: - I clean my tablet once a month. Keep the tablet face-down on your table when not in use. Some people have complained about SD card - I have been using a 32GB class 10 SD card from day one - never had any issue. File manager can manage everything on all corners of the SD card too. USB thumb drive - works like a charm. Never tried a USD HDD - I am told that does not work. Have not tried the HDMI slot yet - never felt the need. Thrive is worth every penny that it costs, IMHO.

  • I can't get the device to read and SD card or external. That was the only reason I bought it. Total waste of money.

  • Possibly this is toshiba's worst ever device..not sticking to any of the features provided. I have been using it for 6 months now and it seemed a complete waste of money. USB not working as expected,Touch has been really dreadfull and lot more to list. Apart from that Toshiba failed to get ICS on thrive as that they have been promising from a longtime...

  • Correction: It does NOT have IPS screen. Screen quality is very good but not with perfect viewing angles like an IPS screen !! Overall, I like and use daily... Shame there are not very good cases for Thrive.

  • just saw this on a different website saying its gonna run on ICS not honeycomb

  • When will you come out with an automobile power adapter like all other phones and tablets for the at100?

  • I bought a USB internet device from clear.com and apparently the tablet has no options to connect to it under the wireless and networks settings tab so it appears thermo, these devices aren't compatible with this tablet:-(

  • eeer, i think you just need to calibrate your touch screen

  • I spent a ton off money on my Thoshiba Thrive because it is horrible to use. The touch screen is really bad. We have to always click above what we want to actually select. To explain better I have to touch the screen 1/8 to 1/4 above any button or text i want to select. Because of this selecting to copy and paste is a nightmare and selecting words I'm trying to change in a sentence is almost impossible. Using headphones is frustrating on the Thrive as the volume is so low. I wish I'd bought an iPadthis is so bad. Trying to get the cursoir between the words iPadthis in the last sentence is impossible. I'm really sorry I wasted the money.

  • Here it is .. folk's. I went out an got the ( THRIVE ) 32GB from best buy in Minot N.D.! I think this was the best thing I've spent good money on in the past year 1/2..! I'll just say this.. My thrive as helped me in so many ways! I really don't know how I've ever gottin bye without it.. the knowledge an application's right there when you need it. Without haven to carry around a bunch of adapters to plug it in to almost anything, .. because of the components it has already.

  • in the US this bad boy is $399.99 for the 16gb model

  • I wanna know the price of this gadget in US Dollars [8gb] or in irish Euro...........Thanx in Advanced!

  • iam not like this phone ,,,,

  • Correction:-) apparently the file manager has issues reading the memory car but the media player gallery and the video library can access the memory card, however writing on the card still is a problem, other than that I love the Toshiba thrive tablet! Its fantastic!

  • Correction:-) apparently the file manager has issues reading the memory car but the media player gallery and the video library can access the memory card, however writing on the card still is a problem, other than that I love the Toshiba thrive tablet! Its fantastic!

  • Anyone having problems using a sd memory card? Got a 16gig the thrive won't write and read it, keeps saying files are corrupted. I love this tablet but my memory card don't wanna work.

  • Toshiba Thrive is definitely one of the best tablets in terms of price, battery replacement, and the ports available. However, I'm not sure if Toshiba has resolved the issue of 'sleep and reboot'. The company had promised an update(s) for this early in July.

  • that is great ! i want to have one for me! how much money do it have ??? i think it is very expensive!

  • I need to be connected to internet even when i m not in wi-fi zone. I am currently in India, mobile service providers give USB based internet connectivity. Is it possible to get connected to internet through USB port. Please advice

  • Using a Thrive to post this review. Love this tablet, bought a new Toshiba laptop about a month ago,and read reviews on tablets, this is the best. Now Toshiba needs to make a phone maybe include that with their 2nd gen tablets.

  • I have the THRIVE 16gb..wanto to ask a question that can i use USB 3G internet device wiith this.. i tried but failed as it not reconized ".exe"b type of file, so i can 't installed the 3G USB software to use that device... if there is any way then please let me know .. it will make my life much easier..

  • Can anyone tell, whether full usb like in this tablet, can support usb tv tuner?

  • This tablet is really good with the exception of one thing. The screen does not have that finger print repellant coating that the galaxy tab or the ipad has. Also the screen is not a gorilla glass so watch out when you carry it in your bag.

  • its fantastic all working as a real pc with usb, hdmi, miniusb, external sd and so on. I recomended its the best

  • Hey guys i want to buy this tablet but i need to know if it supports usb internet sticks. If not, i will wait for another one. Thanks

  • I also want to know about usb internet

  • emm...i like product toshiba...why no 3g this tablet

  • Purchased the Thrive about a month ago and its been a fantastic tablet so far. Major selling point for me was the full size USB and the SD card slot. I can download files the move them to usb or the micrd SD cards or from those cards to the Thrive. I use my Android phones Mobile Hot Spot for internet connectivity when away from a wifi and the Thrive uses 1/3 the data as compared to my laptop when connected to the hot spot. Wife wants to dump her I pad and get a Thrive now.

  • Loved everything about this tablet except how the power and volume button oriented. Quite tedious to press, and the volume button just doesn't seems right. Normally, volume would go from Low to High (left to right), but on the THRiVe, it's the opposite: High to Low ( left to right).

  • Hey Guys. does this tablet work with an internet usb stick. Thanks

  • too big

  • i was wondering if you put a usb modem in, would it let me use internet on it through the usb modem.

  • Hi, why have an unlimited phone book, with no GSM support!.

  • Nice...pricepoint good. And with full USB port, probably could cobble up a driver for a USB cellmodem/cellNIC stick and get 3G/4G whatever access I might want. In fact, doing this, I won't be limited to a GSM or CDMA provider...I can have EITHER or BOTH! Definitely on my "Hmmmm....I should buy one of these with money from my next consult" list...

  • The Thrive does NOT have an IPS display. If you check with Toshiba you will see. It is using what they call a backlit LED display possibly with 'LPS' technology...which is a Toshiba way of boosting color contrast but it in no way makes it IPS.

  • i am aware for 3g it missing in this tablet

  • This is the 1st Tablet that supports External USB input that I am aware of.

  • Please get your facts straight if you are going to publish. I have the Thrive and your article is incorrect: The Thrive is the first Honeycomb tablet to include a full-size SD Card slot. None of this microSD card nonsense for Toshiba; ditto for only having a micro- or mini-USB port. By including the SD Card slot and USB port, the company recognizes the need for interoperability among devices.

  • i agree. i love the idea of having a full sized HDMI and USB slot. it makes life so much easier. no need to carry all the wires around. most people will complain about the weight but i think its fine. Overall, the best tablet till date

  • I think Toshiba has made an excellent decision, and seem like they've done more market research than its competitors. If a tablet is to replace a laptop and become an entertainment hub then you need all those specs and ports. Samsung, on the other hand, is just trying too hard to compete with ipad, I like Samsung and I think they make great products at good prices but they're probably trying too hard. Initially, I bought an ipad and then sold it after 1 month because it was such a closed system that made it only partially useful to me, case in point I could not reserve a rent a car on line because the website used flash; could not put my pictures because I needed to be near a computer with a cord and itunes. Although Android is far from perfect, it remains more open and does not "rule" you. I am glad I waited. I trust that the build quality of Toshiba is great and thus with those specs I am sold. Since I don't live in the States, I just asked a friend to send me one. Sorry for a fragmented comment; I needed to be brief.

  • why !!!!!!!! but tell me why!!!!!! it´s no a gsm devise!!!!

  • Well, according this article: "...and an ExFAT driver so the Thrive can handle up to a 1TB external hard drive over the USB port." so I'd say the full USB would definitely be a sufficient reason to consider purchasing this device

  • no 3G in thrive?

  • I love this one. It has everything! Card reader, usb, hdmi port, plus it has interchangeable battery not like other tablet that you have to replace everything if the battery is already fried.. I dont mind if it is thicker than Ipad and Galaxy tab. Hope this will be available soon in the Philippines..

  • u dont know what ure saying. Android is the best

  • How does the screen compare to the asus transformer?

  • i think software updates wont be a problem. it may be late but it will definitely roll out. i am definitely buying this tablet. i like the idea of having a full sd and usb port. i think this could replace a netbook.

  • My concern is regarding software support. This will ship with HC 3.1 but how will support be in the future? I currently have an Asus TF and their support is top notch. 3.1 was pushed out just weeks after announcement. But the Toshiba's full SD and USB slots got me wondering if I should return the TF. I use my tablet mostly at home so weight is not really an issue. Especially when its less than 200gr difference.

  • I already have RSI caused by the weight of Ipad Ver 1. @ 771 gms I will pass on this one. The weight needs at least a 5 in front of it.

  • ZTE V9 has interchangable back and battery at 12mm thickness so yeah....

  • This is the base model, 3G version prototype has voice support can be used like a phone!! 15 mm thick was because the cover can be removed and can change battery, go ask the rivals to make one that can do that and still thin!

  • 15mm is too much thick for a tablet. Toshiba should understand that tablets got their hype because of their portability. but in 15mm i'd rather buy an acer w500 with windows

  • this is gps device with A-GPS support.....but no 3g or gsm network ....toshiba u r made,,,,

  • And the driver support will be great on that Full USB port! lol

  • 15mm. Pretty thick compared to its competitors

  • Seems like a well-rounded device, good for people who on the budget.

  • This is the tablet for me. this one has full size hdmi and usb. its perfect.

  • That's good :)

  • It's better this has a 720p recording or will be surpassed easily!
