  • About almost 1 year ago I bought Vivo V5, but had been sold. Yes, mediocre processor, not fast charging, but multitasking is fine with 4 GB RAM, internet ok, calling, SMS, no problem. Today I buy Vivo V5 Plus, the price is go down much compared to Vivo V5. I bought V5 Plus for USD 183,93 only in Indonedia region. Like it so much, performance is very good.   • IF you use FB on your phone I can tell you I had the same problem on my VIVO5 that I use for two year and I think is terrific. Install the App METAL for FB and Twitter then log in with FB then UNinstall the original FB app. And your battery usage with drop dramatically. The FB app drains all phones doing all the unnecessary stuff running in the background. The Metal app works exact like FB but only when YOU use it and update etc is all the same good luck I am VERY happy since I installed it

I was Vivo V5 user, used it for a month, also had many times play game, using internet, chatting, while the phone is being charged, no problem at all. For incident the battery explode can be happened for fake battery, not original, or defective unit phone. I don't know the phones condition that sold in other countries, but, in my region, I haven't find Vivo phone explode yet.

  • I regret to buy this vivo v5 since this year january, after 2-3 months, the phone starting got problem, it suddenly shut down itself, and sometime got a little bit lag, and some picture I have been deleted before will restore back to the phone after restart the phone, somehow my ring tone automatically change in setting, the OS System seen like so stable at all. And sometime, the apps cant open until I restart my phone. I went to vivo centre a few months ago, the problem still not solve and the problem still remain, please do not waste your money to buy this phone, I am already disappointed for this problem and also very angry with this model.

  • Im not using vivo V5 but currently im using vivo y35 which cost rm999 at that time (they hv stop produce this model) ive been using this phone for 2 years & now it could not work anymore. For the first year,this phone got no problem & yes the camera was good !! But after one year,it starting to hv a problem with the audio system . It was not really nice to hear ringtone or music without earphone. Then it starts to take a longer time to hv a fully charge battery (sometimes i charge for 7 hours to get 100% full). Oneday, the phone system was shut down out of sudden & it said on my screen that my phone was not root . I tried to click all the files that have been written on the screen but none of it could help me to start my phone. I tried to clear all the data (untill i lost all my image) then it starts to work back only for a few hours..it shut down again & mytouchscreen was not working anymore . I went to the near vivo store,& they told me that the screen was problem so ineed to go to vivo center (which doesnt have in my state) & it also will involve a lot of cost. So i try to open my simcard to transfer it into another phone & the people incharge in vivo store said that the place of simcard had broken so i need to open the phone in vivocenter which also involve cost . (Fyi,for the past 2 years .. i never takeout my simcard from tht phone so who must taking the resposibilities ?) Im fucking angry right now & i hope that vivo should take this as an important matter . Please .

  • It is normal. Some smartphones may only show 4G instead of 4G LTE.

  • My Vivo V5 is 10 months old now since its release last november. I never updated my phone from 2.9.1 version. It's still working fine, no complaints at all. Camera selfie 20 megapixel is superb natural looking. hifi sound is loud and quality. Charging time 30 minutes 100% full. So far this is the best mid range phone for me.

Camera If I use WhatsApp, send photo to a friend for example and use WhatsApp for taking camera, the result was always blur 2. Charging time Charging time took long time for fully charged. Based my notes, the charging time took almost 2 hours 45 minutes more for fullt charged when the phone was in standby and took for more than 3 hours 40 minutes when the phone was being used while charging. I used charger and cable in the box Vivo. So I can't say it fast charging support. The charging is slow I say.

  • Vivo does not has video call by operator feature. The most smartphones nowadays have no video call feature. To use video call, users were better to install Skype, Viber, Line or WeChat.

This disappointed me, without apps and using when charging. With this conditions this phone is waste.   • I use vivo v5 the major disadvantage is the pixel density(267)(ppi) is poor that has affect the bright of display and clock speed no better in cpu. The one of the most advantage is the selfie camera (20 mp). The selfie is wonderful 'what a selfie'. no other phone have better selfie than vivo v5. If you WhatsApp and open camera inside WhatsApp to take a picture, the result is always blur. I had tried it on my Vivo V5 2. Charging time is long. Normal charge can reach 2 hour 45 minutes. Charge and keep using the phone can reach more than 3 hours 30 minutes to 100% from below 27%

But the dislike I concern from it is the long time of its charging. It needed to be charged for 2 hours 45 minutes on my case (with note, began to charged from under 25%.   • This phone is fantastic. i always tell my friends that this phone is a hybrid of iphone and android, and convincingly, i get them to agree immediately. I use this phone for leisure and business. with its 4gb RAM, its as big as i ever going to need. I am not a gamer, nor i play movie on my mobile, coz whats the point? might as well buy PS4 and a 41"TV set. The same logic applies if you buy an Iphone 7 or samsung s8 for gaming... your missing the whole idea of having an excellent piece of gadget for its entirety. If we watch one movie, then the battery goes from 99% to 30%. So this mobile i wont recommend for a person who travels regularly. Also we cant keep our data ON for 10 hrs continuosly, it drains out battery, Micromax is better than Vivo in this matter. 2. All my contacts have been merged, but with some difference like my hubby's and my brother name is been displayed the same, my boss and my daughter name is been displayed the same etc. I informed the same to the customer care department, as per their instructions i changed my settings, flashed my mobile but again after 1 week, i am facing the same problem.

My iPhone 5s 8MP camera even better than this Vivo V5, if you use WhatsApp to take camera, the result will always blur. I found no any blur in iPhone 5s, the camera is still one of the best.

  • Situation is different here bro, Suppose i am playing music at 50% volume in background, after a while i have sent whatsapp message to someone, Then the Message sent audio decreases the sound effect means sound is decreased but without affecting 50% volume. Volume Remains same but Sound decreases. Considering this situation my expectation was that sound effect ascend back to normal after message sent or recieved audio gone. :(

  • Nice to hear that. About your complaint, my Vivo V5 works fine. I tried playing music in background, then I could receive WhatsApp immediately with the sound and music sound together work. For volume sound, my smartphone works fine too, if I clicked checklist Ascending rintone, the volume ringing will play from low to loud when people call me, if the Ascending ringtone switch off, it will play the standard volume that I set on my smartphone. If I set loud, it will play loud when people call my smartphone and vice versa. I have been using Vivo V5 for 4 months.

  • When battery life is 10%, almost impossible to fully charged till 100% from 10% in 30 minutes even the phone is fast charging and charge in switch off position. I experienced several times using Xiaomi Mi 4c that supports fast charging, usually the most I noticed was it needed around for1 hour 40 minutes or more little to fully charged when battery life was under 30%. The battery life is under 20%, it usually can up to 2 hours and several minutes but not more than 2 hours 30 minutes. That was Xiaomi Mi 4c.

  • I tested on my Vivo, I used cable data for Sony Xperia Z, but the head charger was Vivo from the box. Result, the charging was very very very slow, I saw it took more than 2 minutes to get 1%. The Vivo V5 USB cable and Vivo V5 head charger in the box is better and many better many times compared cable data Sony Xperia Z. Yes, the default Vivo charger can take up to 3 hours time of charging but it still good.

The software problem, solution are update software, downgrade software or factory reset. User also see his/her apps installed in his/her phone whether an app that make slow response or make the phone heavy to run operating system. For music/video stop automatically I can't make sure if the problem is from your apps installed in your phone or software's phone problem. But I read (Vivo forum Indonesia or search Google), no Indonesia region Vivo V5 that experience music/video stop automatically. I don't know whether apps on Vivo V5 for Indonesia region are different with India region or not. But, one of user or several users in Vivo forum, when there was someone complaint for music/video stop automatically for every seconds or minutes, they who answered his/her question suggested him/her to check his/her apps. If apps were not the culprit. The solution maybe you should ask Vivo Service Center.

  • I have used Vivo V5 for 3 months. Until now the performance is still good. I had uninstall my antivirus app and switch off Facebook in excessive battery power section, inside iManager. No complaint for calling, internet (3G / 4G LTE). No complaint for music/video (no stop automatically). No complaint for heating. No complaint for installing apps. I am not gamer, so I have no complaint for lag. Yes, even in 4GB of RAM, Android is not free of lag, but overall the phone still good and capable well do multitasking.

  • Yes, for design is similar with iPhone, I remembered when I was use iPhone 5S. If I'm not mistake, the iPhone 5S when accepting incoming text messages, the iPhone 5S would light up. The Vivo V5 also the same. :-)

  • I am OK with the condition. Video call can be done by using third party apps like WeChat, Line, Skype, Viber. Video call by operator network had been almost abandoned in my country. Since data access more popular than voice and SMS, the MMS feature, video call operator network feature, slowly but for sure, customers dont use them again. So they prefer data, use WhatsApp, WeChat, Sykpe, Line, for chatting and video call.

The most I read and see in forum, there is no complaint about music/audio/video stop playing automatically in Indonesia region. So, maybe there is an app on Vivo V5 on other region.

  • The Vivo V5 I use so far is good, almost no lag, no complaint. Music OK, video playing OK, internet, YouTube, are OK too. I don't concern much for camera result, simple user. For everyday use, multitasking, games (not heavy games), Vivo V5 is good choice. Price maybe experience, but in my opinion, the price is OK. For price, around USD 262 in Indonesia region (assumed USD 1 = IDR 13.352). I don't know if there is different thing on Vivo smartphone in other countries or not, but my Vivo V5 is fine till now. I also would keep updating if there is something wrong or something new on my phone.

  • I think the battery life little less good. At the time 03:00 when I began to sleep, my Vivo V5 battery was 98%, connected to WiFi and standby on, after I wake up on around 08:15, the battery life was 88%.

But when i re-open the mp3 player after refreshing the phone it takes hell lot of time. I do have vivo v1 and vivo y31. But the problem is only in v5. Cant it be fixed..?

  • May be the video format you're playing is not compatible with V5. If that's so, try to convert the video to a format that matches V5's.

  • My Vivo V5 (Indonesia region) had been tested by myself, so far streaming YouTube app several minutes or more, works fine, play music/ringtone using iMusic works fne, stream movie in a website using Chrome also works fine. Seeing videos inside Facebook app also works fine. Overall work fine.

  • The first I would do if I experience weird or something wrong on my phone usually update software or downgrade software. Second, if the problem is persistent, I do factory reset. Third, all I do doesn't make the phone better and it keep acting bad, I would try to ask the service center of the phone's brand.

  • I would suggest vivo needs to enable the plug n play option for transfer of files form phone to computer, I spent on full day and still was unable to figure out how to transfer files from phone to laptop using an USB calbe, vivo assist does not detect I have tried 1. vivo Assistant (Doesn't work) 2. I had ever used Sony (Xperia mini, Xperia TX, Xperia Z), Samsung (Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Note II), LG (Optimus G, G2), Xiaomi (Redmi 2, Mi 4c), Motorola (RAZR XT910), huawei (P8lite), Nokia (6730 Classic, Lumia 520), even BlackBerry (Z10) and Vivo V5, never experienced battery life drain from 95% to zero in 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes.

I tried default music come in the box, named Fiancé.flacc (by Su-jer) length 4:01, from 0 to 4:01 it played fine, no stop automatically and after 4:01, the i Music will replay again. If I add 1 ringtone for example music game named Dream of the Shore Near Another World (by Yasunori Mitsuda). After it played Fiancée, it will play automatically played Dream of the Shore Near Another World ringtone, vice versa. Overall works normal. I don't know why if your device have that problem. Maybe you could consult Vivo Service Center to make sure if there is software or hardware problem. Or..... maybe there is 3rd party app in your device that block music/video play. In internet also there was user used Samsung S4 experience music stop automatically, the culprit is (other user experienced) Bellman app. It is just an example. My Vivo V5 so far is good, I don't activate Google voice Google Now. Other apps like Facebook, Twitter, BBM, WhastApp, LINE, emulator game, no suspicious apps.

  • I would give my experience using many smartphones. 1. One thing that we (users) should know is all phones have plus and minus 2. In 2011 I used Sony Ericsson xperia mini ST15i. First time unboxing, the phone was problem, act weird, it refused to do unlock screen, almost everytime I tried unlock, it refused. The internet said it was overheating problem, the solution was to do root and installed Gscript. I did the tutorial, it was fixed. In 2014 I used Sony Xperia TX, that Xperia TX also problem, I experienced twice the screen blank off itself, but it was active, could receive notifications, I decided to sell it at that because I knew the Sony Service Center is bad, the phone would be treated as like person in hospital, sick and should stay at that place for several days or weeks or maybe months (many users wrote in newspaper about the bad of service). 3. Before I used Vivo V5, I used Xiaomi Mi 4c, I said Xiaomi Mi 4c was good, no problem, but... I dislike Chinese apps like Mi Live, Mi Appstore (useless, I prefer Google Play Store), and dislike apps with Chinese language. Because officially the rom didn't support Google Play Service, I should install Google apps one by one, but it still experienced little problem, such GPS was hard to do what I want, not accurate, little trouble when use GOJEK and Grab. Several users said install Europe rom, I didn't do that because I didn't unlock bootloader, it would void warranty (I am not technic guy or people who like and understand do custom rom or thing in smartphones). So, I sold Mi 4c after 4 months of used 3. Luckily I bought Vivo V5 so far no problem. Once I downgraded to 2.7.25 and now software version 3.2.3, better. I am OK with the charging can up to 3 hours. Based on my watching to my Vivo, I write every time I charged my phone. Software version 3.2.3 is better than 2.9.1. Other users said the charging time is 2.5 hours using fast charging. I don't buy that fast charging cable or USB. Usually the most I use is cable or charger default that come in the box of the phone. Overall, the phone is good, I no complaint.

Before I use Vivo V5, long time ago, from Sony Ericsson Xperia mini, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Nokia Lumia 520, Sony Xoeria TX, LG Optimus G, Motorola RAZR XT910, Sony Xperia Z C6602 and other Android smarphones, I used the charger came in the box.

  • IDK why or something wrong with your phone because with every firmware that I tried, the charging time is always full at 2.5 hrs no more ( start at around 0-20% ) with both fast charger and V5 charger. Only in factory firmware 2.7.25 the charging time is faster with fast charger.

  • I noticed that battery charge faster on the unboxing firmware 2.7.25, It's just take about 2 hours to full with PE fast charger. After update to another higher version, it seems Vivo had limited or did something with software that slow down the charging speed and it is take about 2.5 hrs to full even with the Fast charger. So I decide to downgrade to the unboxing firmware and now It charges faster again.

  • I use Vivo v5 running software version 2.9.1, the call log could be cleared for all. By choosing left key then choose clear.

  • I have used Vivo V5 for 3 months and i have reviewed some things like: -Design is Relative, some of you may like it, some not, for me the design of this phone is okay -Performance is Fair, i don't use it for gaming so it is okay and with big ram it is over for me, fingerprint scanner is the best so far, could unlock on black stand-by screen only for 0.2 seconds -Screen is Okay, not so good because of HD only, but the colour and contrast is good -Audio is Good, loudy and hi-fi mode is good -Battery is Good, like the other phone with 3000 mah, 50% for 8 hours, charging this phone is normal (even using the samsung charger 2A, not having any problem) -Camera is Bad, although the selling point of Vivo-Oppo's Group is Camera but to be honest (for VIVO V5) is really not worth the price at all; for the front 20 megapixel is not handled by auto focus so the selfie detail is too soft (like 5 mega front standard phone), but the colour is good, and softlight is really helpful at the low light; the main camera 13 megapixel really it is a toy camera, not having any stabilizer (even the small stabilizer), and PDAF is not having any effect to the camera, colour is fair and detail is soft and sometimes noisy, for example: take a pic on lcd it is easily get blurred even hand is steady, other phone even cheaper one could handle this thing so well Conclusion: i gonna exchange with the Redmi Note 4, because i am not an selfie addict but i need big battery only with the better camera

In my case, I didn't do it, I just do trial and error at that time. I had set on setting, automatic restore on backup menu inside. So after finished booting, success downgrade, the apps I downloaded still available, so I don't need resintall one buy one anymore.

Second, put the file in your phone memory outside all folders (I put it on internal storage when I did downgrade my Vivo). Go to system update, and choose local upgrade, the firmware file will appear. Choose the firmware, the phone will do upgrading firmware. Third, process upgrading system usually took not more than 25 minutes. After finished booting, your phone's will become 2.7.25 firmware version. If your phone act weird, random restart by itself, I suggest you to update phone firmware again OTA. In my case, Vivo V5 experienced 4 times restart by itself. After I did update with software version E_X_A 2.9.1, the random restart was fixed.

  • It is almost 2 months I use Vivo V5. So far, the phone is still OK and I am satisfy enough using this phone. Yes, beside the plus from Vivo V5, there are minus from it too. The new software version 3.2.2 is quite good. My phone is still remain 1.0 GB free of RAM, I use BBM, WhatsApp, email, Facebook, Twitter, antivirus, all works fine.

If you would like to see Samsung, Samsung J7 Prime can be your choice, but it doesn't has auto brightness sensor, said that it is heat, but processor is bettter. For Oppo, maybe you would like to see Oppo F1s 64 GB version.

  • So far I use Vivo V5, it's good phone, but I can't guarantee if Vivo V5 will make you satisfy or not. But, I use Vivo V5 no many problems so far. The only I noitced a little problem was software version before 2.9.1. The problem was, the option to make Shift Access on couldn't be make it on, but that problem was fixed in software version 2.9.1. In latest software version (3.1.7) I didn't find any problem again.

  • Try to do factory reset, if the problem still persist, ask to Vivo Service Center. My Vivo V5 works fine so far.

  • Vivo V5 I use so far is good, no complaint. Performance for multitasking is good, no lag, camera is quite good although simple. Typing messages, comments, fast with the default TouchPal. Music and its features are also good, the m draw by finger for play music immediately when the screen off also works very well. Internet using 4G LTE also good. Overall Vivo V5 is very good smartphone for daily use.

  • Vivo V5 I used since February 2017, until now, I don't find any video paused and no problem with the YouTube app. Everyday I stream YouTube using WiFi on my Vivo V5, sometimes I can stream more than 20 minutes, the phone is warm only, and it is OK. I can't know why you experience annoying problem from your phone. By the way, sharing my experience using Vivo V5, so far I don't encounter problem, playing ePSXe (PlayStation emulator) game is also very good, played Dungeon Hunter 5 also good, no lag. For charging time, I agree it is slow, but I can still accept it.

  • They say rear camera is only 5mp, I used it everyday and it's clear. Even when you zoom in, you will clearly see the details captured by the device. At first, it looks blurry but when you click the shutter button it captures a decent 13mp photo.FYI, Vivo is a SELFIE and music lover phone. Don't be a dumb critic.

  • I found hidden option. Previously I posted that Vivo V5 couldn't run antivirus app for long time (make the app keep running). There was option to make it happen. The option is inside iManager app. If you open it, choose power consumption, then see below option (excessive battery.....), there were app list that in default, Facebook, Messenger, LINE, will be on automatically, and the rest app you installed can be switch on too.

  • For gamer, Samsung J7 Prime is little better, the processor is better than Vivo V5. Vivo is also good for gaming (moderate, not high graphic). Vivo V5 doesn't heat, it is just warm.

Its simple to operate. 2. Hardly found pre installed waste apps 3. Speed is excellent 4. Ram is 4 GB. 5. For our daily use music and video quality is at par with other brands. Highlights: -> Awesome look. -> SELFIE camera pics quality is awesome. Back camera quality is also good in day light but front camera is good in night too.

  • The little problem (maybe not problem) of the phone is, first firmware version I used first time, it was v.2.7.... Inside Settings, More Settings, Assistant, Switch Access couldn't be switch on (also happened if i installed Anti Virus, the option in assistant to let anti virus app work ultimately couldn't switch on). This problem I found,,,, ficed afrer updated my Vivo V5 firmware OTA to version v.2.9.1. Yes, overall is good. I just think Facebook app running in Vivo V5 doesn't perform very well, sometimes when reading or writing comments, the Facebook app act go back itself and for anti virus app, the anti virus won't run in background 100%. Other brand if I still remember when I installed anti virus app, in runs in background better than Vivo V5. Maybe it is caused by the MediaTek processor that can't perform as level as Snapdragon or something else maybe.

That happened when I paused the Dungeon Hunter 5, and open WhatsApp to see conversation than back to the game. It showed black blank screen, usually it will show the paused game position. Playing Dungeon Hunter 5 overall smooth enough. For N.O.V.A 3 no problem when minimize it and open N.O.V.A 3 back

  • I never had battery issues with my vivo v5. Try to check your iManager and click power manager. You can select from extreme performance mode, normal mode, smart power saving or super saver. They say v5's battery drain fast but thats a myth. You can monitor your data usage and battery consumption. It's also fast charging. Left my phone for 30 min. and battery is at 60%. If you're selfie and music addict I will definitely recommend this phone. That's true rear camera is not that impressive given 13mp, but you can tweak it by clicking professional photo in camera settings. Just adjust the EV, ISO level etc. You can also download third party app like Cymera to enhance the quality of photos. I'm using Cymera and u might wanna try HDR feature it's perfect! And again, you have an option to buy universal clip lens online. Been using this phone for a week now, downloaded lots of music, games and movies. I have 128 memry card and so far so good, still have decent performance with this phone. Don't believe those people who belittle vivo v5. Try it to believe it! :) :) :)

Don't blame vivo v5, blame your service provider. If you want a crystal clear rear camera you can buy optical clip lens online. For me I'm satisfied with the 13mp. I love my vivo v5!   • Go to built-in File Manager, choose phone storage, from there touch left softkey, there will be option, there you can see New folder option.

  • I can't say this problem because of your Vivo phone or not, but usually, those because of the apps themselves. I don't use Hike and Instagram. I try WhatsApp, BBM, Messenger, Facebook, those have notifications appear automatically. While Outlook when I tried, the notification didn't appear, I should check manually. You could ask Vivo for help in Twitter or other media social or by phone at your place (region).

I'm also a music lover and I was blown away with its hi-fi feature. Actually with or without hi-fi feature music in earphones or speaker sounds great. Called my mom and some friends and It's crisp and clear. So far I'm rating this phone a 9.5 for a mid-range phone. If you want a fast performance phone and if you love selfies and music, I recommend this phone. You won't regret buying this phone.

The SPG was wrong inform me that the Vivo V5 had fast charging, in fact, no fast charging. I am OK with that. For you who like custom rom, Vivo V5 is not suitable for you. It is hard to find in Google about the tutorial flashing the phone. So far I am using Vivo V5, I am satisfy with it. Performance is very good for multi tasking. I tried N.O.V.A 3 game, worked very good, no lag.

It's camera is great (20MP front, 13MP back), the features of the phone is impressive, 4GB RAM makes the phine usage faster (no lags), and I love how it looks so elegant. For a middle range phone, I can say that it is worth it. It definitely met my expectations 🙂
