As far as I can see the official release for Oreo is still not out but some builds are available for download for X9 in China. It doesn't make any sense to develop fully working builds and then scrap it, Vivo will most likely release it sometime this year.

I think Vivo has settled for ONE OS upgrade, that might change with NEX, X21 and V11 though because these are all premium products. To be fair, a lot of other vendors also do not support midrange devices properly. Think Xiaomi with Redmi (one OS update guaranteed), Samsung with A series (second OS update is usually VERY late), Sony with Xperia (only one OS update for midrange devices).

For whatever reason, they have not started the official rollout for Chinese X9 users also. The only ones who are using Oreo on the X9/V5 Plus are the beta users who have got a semi-official release as gift for being part of the beta program. Vivo continues to say wait and see, I don't understand what's going on. They were also supposed to release Pie for the V11 and V9 but that got delayed (at least Vivo has officially confirmed releasing Pie for these devices!)

Recently I've examined v11pro front camera, it is comparitively better than v5 plus, the only difference is v5 plus showing yellow tint and more glaring light. Though they can be corrected with software update, VIVO didn't try. and I lost patience waiting for OS upgrade. Then thought to buy v15pro, but its specs are not punchy with low end processor. So on March 10, moved on to POCO F1.

Not for V3 Max but it still gets security patch updates from time to time. V5 onwards the series seems pretty up to date on security patches. OS updates, well Vivo is giving at least one, but I think that will change now.

A meager 79.04MB update with below optimizations: 1) Optimized audio channel for more stable sound output 2) Optimized stability for network relalted functions 3) Improved system stability with android Nov 18 security patch. Still on Nougat (7.1.2) with Funtouch 3.1 overlay. Hope Vivo listens to their international users and role out the Oreo update by Jan~Feb, 19.

From what I am told, new features in Funtouch OS 4.0 for X9/V5 Plus: 1) Jovi Smart Scene, AI camera, card based Smart Desktop 2) Game Mode for accelerating game performance 3) Camera improvements Other things are vague, but should include updates to Smart Split and the App Clone feature (I have not been able to confirm this).

I am thinking february/march because for other phones I observed 1 or 2 months delay between official roll-out in China and international release. P. S. November Security patch is now rolling out for V5 Plus internationally, so even without Oreo, Vivo devices are getting well supported updates.

Update: Vivo X9 oreo beta has ended. Those who registered for the beta have now received what Vivo calls a "stable" version of FunTouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1. Those who did not register for the beta have not yet got the final upgrade. Vivo is requesting users to have patience while they iron out bugs and optimize it further. Couple of months perhaps. Obviously the V5 plus will get it too.

X21 is good too. One of the most WOW phones I ever used. X21s (V11/V11 Pro) is a lower cost, plastic bodied version of the X21 without the Hi-Fi DAC (instead using SD660 stock DAC from Qualcomm). Vivo can make great hardware, and good software. Funtouch OS is far better than Oppo's ColorOS.

I firmly believe Vivo V5 Plus receiving Oreo is enough support from a phone manufacturer which got released nearly two years back. I will not be surprised if Vivo stops providing OTA updates from Jan, 2019 on-wards. I have been using this phone for over a year and the sublime performance I got for this $200 device is more than enough. The product quality of X series phone like X9/ V5Plus is far superior than what the likely priced Xiaomi Note series or Lenovo have to offer.

Vivo tends to support it's X-series phones for at least 18 to 24 months. They might not give Android P because X9s based on SD65x series does not support P (Qualcomm limitation), so it won't make sense to give Android P to X9 (V5 Plus) and leave it out of the X9s series. Similarly, V7 series might get skipped because V7 and V5 series were launched almost in the same year, so there might be a headache to support both families. I read on some translated Russian website that from V9 series onwards the V series will get 2 major upgrades going forward. Time will tell the true story.

That's good to hear, thanks. I had forgotten about this. What I meant to say is that unlike V9, V11 and V5 series, V7 series is a direct rebrand of Y series Vivo phones. So Vivo might "forget" about it in the next year and not give it Android P. But let's see?

They wouldn't have been able to sell V7 series if V5 had been updated quickly. Don't worry, V5 Plus will soon get FunTouch OS 4.0 with Android 8.1. I am not so sure that V7 series will get it.

The general trend I have seen while using Vivo phones is they do provide software updates for 2 years which is fair enough. Update: Vivo is "considering" adding Jovi Assistant and updating the Oreo update to 8.1.0 for the X9. Expected date for final is December - so maybe 1Q 2019 for V5 Plus users.

V5 Plus will get Oreo update. X9 is getting a beta right now and V5 Plus will get the final. Maybe December/January. All other things are nonsense. Of course every device has to get customized ROM with optimization for each and every update. Tons of SD625 support and run Oreo.

You can actually go back to before version(that is pd1624fexa3.6.0).for that-go to 'vivo firmware' official page and from their go to 'system update' and search for v5 plus model (and see country also ) you will see firmware to download with 1.66gb with version pd1624fexa3.6.0.so kindly send the firmware.then open file manager go to downloads install the update then you will go back to pd1624fexa3.6.0 version

I think they are V5 Plus and V9. Both are almost the same. V5 Plus comes with metal material and has dual-engine quick charge while V9 comes with plastic body material and doesn't has dual-engine quick charge. My opinion, if you are high user of gaming phone, better to choose among Razer phone, Xiaomi Black Shark, Pocophone F1, Asus ROG, Vivo NEX, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Oppo Find X.

While gaming on V7 plus u can examine that some frame drops for some games(eventhough vivo optimises and enhances game experience to great extent with sd450 chipset and hd screen resolution),where as comparing to v5 plus and v9 with both are with sd625&sd626 chipset with greater ppi and fhd resolution whicch suffers less frame drops compared to hd resolution and whereas these three are with same gpu's.

My Vivo V5 Plus is still on FounTouch 3.6.2, so far no problem till now. Performance is good, almost no lag, typing keyboard speed is good, fast. Internet is okay, Bluetooth, OK, GPS good, outgoing call and accept incoming calls are okay, YouTube okay. Play AOV game is good, no lag. Messaging also is fine. Camera good, record video is good. But, I notice, everytime accept incoming WhatsApp call, it tooks several seconds (maybe around 3 till 4 seconds) connection before connected

I got problem too, but it was before I updated to FunToch 3.6.2. The problem was sound of media become low 60% by itself. I noticed it usually happen after finish calling using WhatsApp. After I updated to FunTouch 3.6.2, the problem is fixed. My daily usage the most is chatting in WhatsApp, see Facebook notification (I installed it again after I update to FunTouch 3.6.2), I also watching Meta Trader 4 app, see notification in Twitter, and last, I chat in Skype. Sometimes accept incoming WhatsApp call. No problem at all so far.

Actually, since August, Vivo V5 Plus receive new software update, it was FunTouch 3.6.2 (Indonesia region had received this update from August 1, 2018. Don't know about other country). My experience using it, feels FunTouch 3.6.2 is better than Android Marshmallow FunTouch 1.8.2.

Yeah, different company, different way to think. By the way, so far Vivo V5 Plus is good on my usage of everyday. No hang or lag, the lack is only lack of update. Just wait for several weeks anymore, maybe there will be new update again. About Xiaomi Redmi series, although the phones have more new updates compared Vivo phones, Xiaomi Redmi series have many complaints from their users. I read at Mi Community. Many complaint ads, lag, etc. While Vivo V5 Plus no ads, no lag (if there is lag, it seldom happens).

No, My fingers no cover anything. I experience this sound become weak sometimes. I noticed sometimes after finished conversation during WhatsApp call, the volume sound will be weak (decreased), and after several hours (not more than 3 hours I guess), it back to normal itself. The decreased sound itself problem looks unique, cause I tried once installed Boots Volume app to test. I made increase volume Boost Volume app, if I played music, the sound will be increased, but the sound of touch sound, still the same (when sound weak problem appear, the touch sound can;t be heard / no sound in touch sound).

Mine is normal,their is no such bug.output sound varies with location of fingers near output speaker. I think your fingers are covering or going near or closing your phones output spkr or when speeding up your 📱 automatically your fingers position will change.due to that perspective sound varies....try ones

Did you guys experience sound of media be low on Vivo V5 Plus. I think that problem happen on FunTouch 3.6, sometimes Vivo V5 Plus, sound of media became low. Usually if you make 50% volume sound of media player, the sound will be heard loud enough, but when the problem occurs, the sound volume decreased by 75%, so you need make 100% volume in order to hear music on sound of media player. But this bug problem will disappear when you click / touch speed up feature on notification swipe up below. But, later, sometimes, the decrease volume down will happen again, and I touch speed up feature again, it back to normal. I think it is bug on Android Nougat on FunTouch 3.6.

Face unlock you mean? No, so far no face unlock feature on Vivo V5 Plus. For unlock screen, V5 Plus has done well by its fingerprint sensor. It works very good and fast unlock screen. Then you can double tap to close the screen. Those features are enough, why still need face unlock? If you want face unlock smartphone, then you see another brand or newer Vivo smartphones. For me Vivo V5 Plus is excellent so far.

Vivo/ Oppo phone prices depreciates a lot with time. Buying at 50% the launch price have made it a value for money preposition and you made an excellent decision to buy the Vivo V5Plus at the right time. The PD1624F_EX_A_1.8.2 is nearly an year old, so update your phone as early as possible. The latest PD1624F_EX_A_3.6.0 available in India runs on Android Nougat (7.1.2) with Funtouch OS 3.1 on top. You will get liquid smooth experience while using the phone. My V5Plus takes half a second to unlock, but sometimes take 1 second. However it never fails to recognize my fingerprint. V5Plus comes with fast charging and an 18 watt wall charger is included in the box. Personally I am extremely satisfied with my V5Plus.

I have just bought this phone today. The price is in Indonesia had gone down more than 50% from USD 357. Like it so much, performance very good, no lag, I played Arena of Valor game is very good, no lag, multitasking also good. My Vivo V5 Plus is running on {D1624F_EX_A_1.8.2. The lack (cons) from this phone I notice are: 1. The unlock screen using fingerprint is not fast as fast Vivo V5. It sometimes I should touch times and it need 1 second to unlock (maybe I should update the software, it is still running Android 6.0 security patch August, 2018) 2. Dial pad when high speed tapping can't be done, don't know why. Compare low end Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A 16 GB / 2 GB, that Xiaomi can high speed tap the dial pad Charging speed is very good, I charged in 2 hours from 0% to full.

I have no such issues after receiving the latest 3.6.0 OTA update. The default camera app operates as usual, with no automatic closing issues. Will advice you to factory reset your phone which may as well mitigate the problem. Vivo V5Plus is a much better option over V9, V7+ hands down. However the recently launched Vivo X21UD is another beast altogether and is reflected with a price tag of INR 36K.

You are correct Rishi. No longer mobile handset manufacturers are equipping their models with powerful dac like expensive ESS Sabre and using amplifier such as TI. Few lucky guys own Vibe X3 or X5Max which are things of the past. As you said even Vivo changed it's tagline from Smart & Hi-Fi to Camera & Music indicating HiFi is no longer it's priorities. Certainly that is a disappointing thing. LG also started using mediocre audio solutions in it's V and G series. Lenovo these days are not interested in producing audio centric sets. I was browsing Chinese website Soomal which   profusely admires another set of Vivo. It is a two-year old X Play 5 Elite which is equipped with same treo of ESS DAC, ESS IV Conv. & TI and puts the 6/128 GB set ahead of X5 Max. The model was however not released in India. Earlier, BBK China had its focus clear defined OnePlus for performance, Oppo for camera and Vivo for hifi audio. They have completely messed up now. While saying this I must pass an order that there is a large market in vacuum available for a smart phone maker available to rule, if properly configured premiun hardware is served along.

The OTA change log describes: 1) Updated management mechanism to make the software run more smoother and be more stable. 2) Updated user interface for better user experience. 3) Latest android security path for more security 4) Better game compatibility. After the update: 1) The user experience is as smooth & lag free as before. 2) File Manager icons have changed, same features may be added here. 3) Latest May, 2018 android security patch. Yeh, I noticed the offer on Vivo official online store. They seem to be clearing V5 series stock from their inventory & offering some serious discounts!!! I have a Vivo V3Max and comparing it with V5Plus I will call the later a far superior smartphone any given day. This is based on my personal experience with both the phones. Since I got hold of their flagship Vivo X5Max back in 2015, none of their subsequent flagships could impress me in terms of built quality & in-hand feel. I had their X5Pro, V1Max and I sold both of them. Then I got hold of V3Max, a well built phone with promising specs but missing that flagship grade feel. With V5Plus, better known as X9 in China I am truly heading towards a flagship grade product from Vivo and I confirm V5Plus exudes the same in-hand feel & built quality of X5Max. I opted for Vivo V5Plus over Xiaomi Mi A1 back in Oct, 2017, due to its excellent software & hardware optimization, great network reception, fast charging, great battery life, very compact size and excellent built quality which comes with every X series phone. And I must admit, I am very happy so far with my V5Plus. As much as my beloved Vivo X5Max. My friend owns a Xiaomi Mi A1, and the handset has a lot of network issues and frequently looses network connection in the same place I work. My V5Plus on the contrary have excellent signal strength at the same place. Also the voice calls a very loud and clear & so is the speaker. The main advantage of V5Plus over V3Max is in use of Snapdragon 625 SoC. Though slightly less powerful than Snapdragon 652 found on V3Max, 625 is built on very power efficient 14nm manufacturing process rather than 28nm of 652. Hence 625 cores does not throttle due to heat and saves a lot of battery due to sheer efficiency. The Vivo Funtouch OS experience have improved a lot in V5Plus providing very smooth experience with zero lag. With an even more bigger battery than V3Max, my V5Plus lasts twice as much as V3Max on a single charge. V3Max still runs on older Android Lollipop while V5Plus is on newer Nougat release, so the software experience is much better on V5Plus. Regarding the dedicated AKM DACs found on current Vivo models, I will say they are passable in terms of a sound quality on audiophile ears. Be it AK4375 or AK4376 all are same and produce warm sound signature with good detailing. Make no mistake they are still superior to the integrated solutions found on other non dedicated DAC phones in terms of layering, instrument separation etc. For serious listening I always revert back to by trusty Vivo X5Max as its mighty ESS Sabre ESS 9018 DAC with Texas Instruments headphone amplifier is simply on another level, I mean the audiophile level sound quality. My Lenovo Vibe X3 also uses the same DAC as found in X5Max and is equivalently good. You have made a very wise decision with Vivo V5Plus and it is excellent choice at INR 15K bracket. Enjoy!!!

I ordered one V5 plus from Vivo India shop online for INR 14,990/-. The price was for 2 days only and now increased to INR 19,990/-. The phone is quite similar to V3 Max but superior to the subsequent line up like V7, V9 etc. The set is fast and has equipped with good hardware. Funtouch is also smoother. Immediately, I got one update little over 1GB. Somewhere I felt the OS is little old. I work in a multistory building and many handsets disappoint in receiving network signals. V5+ is better in getting signals of all operators. did not notice any qualitative improvement in AKM4376 HiFi DAC over AKM4375, both are 32bit chips. Display is vibrant. metallic body and a good battery of course. Missing USB Type-C & FM Radio (The inlay card mentions FM yes, how ?) In all it is a better deal than Mi Note5 pro.

I never buy Vivo phones that belong to their cheap budget oriented all plastic Y series lineup. The Vivo V9, V7+, V7 belongs to their Y series. For example V7+ is Y79 in China. I always go for their higher end flagship grade X series lineup from China. That's the reason why I got the V5Plus which is indeed X9 in China. The product quality of V5Plus is just superior to V9. As of now I will rather opt for Oppo F7 than the sub-par V9.

I am observing significantly improved battery life in my Vivo V5 Plus after recent 3.5.2 OTA software update. On a single charge the phone lasts for 2 days under moderate usage and almost 1.5 days under heavy usage. Vivo introduces new feature only with their Apple iOS copycat skin named Funtouch OS. No matter what the Android version the feature list will be decided by this Vivo skin. New feature like App clone was introduced with Funtouch OS 3.2 while Vivo V5Plus has 3.1 version. Hence it does not have app clone feature. Personally I don't see any need of this feature and you will be able to clone only few apps like Whatsapp or Wechat.

From my past experience with Vivo phones, I will say for 2 years from the date of release. In case of Vivo V5 Plus which was released as on Jan, 2017 it will be upto Jan, 2019. For me 2 years is a very reasonable time for software support, and I have found Vivo OTA updates are generally bug free.

In recent 3.5.2 OTA update for Vivo V5 Plus, there are no new features added in Funtouch OS. However this update was important to me as: 1) The phone speaker volume have become even louder and tone is slightly changed which is good. 2) The software is further optimized to consume less power, personally I found a slight increase in battery backup. 3) Latest Android security patches which is very important. I don't know what are the new features added in Vivo V7+. Personally I will never buy that plastic phone.

I am inline with your comments. I don't no why some people are so afraid to update to Nougat. The latest OTA update with android 7.1.2 update is a very stable update, great performance, even better battery life. However my V5 Plus never stops while playing Youtube or games. I had played Asphalt 8 on this phone with highest setting for more than 1 hour... and never did it abruptly stopped. I bought mine at a heavily discounted price which was on par with Xiaomi Mi A1 on that time, still I preferred Vivo due to following reasons: 1) Supports fast charging 2) Supplied with 18 watts fast charger 3) Comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display protection 4) A more compact phone than A1, both having 5.5 inch 1080p displays 5) Better build quality than A1. 6) Better network reception than A1.

i'm a heavy user and plays game alot on my v5 plus. before updating to nougat my battery always overheating and draining really fast in just few hours. but after update it does not overheat and the battery last longer than before. still fast charge as usual. but i notice when u take screenshot and send it to someone and u view it again it gets blurry. its not like before. i dont know about others phone but mine became like that. and when im watchin youtube or playing game it suddenly stopped and go back to my front screen. but whats important to me is battery. so i guess it doesnt bother me much. im hoping there will be face unlock feature in next update.

Don't go by false reports, my Vivo V5 Plus with nougat 7.1.2 is at its best. Vivo updates are very stable and my phone with the latest update is most stable. Fast charging support is there and no battery drain.

Mine too. Since updated to nougat 7.1.2, the battery drains too fast and there is no quick charging at all. It took almost 30 minutes to reach 30% charging, I found it suddenly heating as well. This is to compared before it was updated. I am a Vivo user since 2015 with Vivo x5. Sadly, v5plus not so impressive compared to x5. Vivo really dissappointing me.

I have no such issues after the Nougat update. Even with heavy usage my phone still lasts for 1.5 days. We also have fast charging, V5Plus charging 0 to 80% in an hour with the supplied charger. Very happy with the phone.

The user interface is much improved after the latest Android Nougat updates for V5Plus. Vivo first upgraded the phone with a 962MB OTA update from Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) with vivo's Funtouch OS 3.0 overlay to 7.1.1 (Nougat) version. The Nougat version shipped with newer Funtouch OS 3.1 with some additional features. Later another 423MB update made it to 7.1.2 (Nougat). So we have the final release of Nougat on V5 Plus which is simply great.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with 4 gigs of DDR4 RAM will handle almost all heavy games with highest graphics on a 1080p fullHD display. I have played Asphalt 8 and it runs like butter with Vivo V5Plus. Plus the battery backup is pretty solid with support for quick charging. All in all a slightly better phone than Xiaomi Mi A1 at the same price IMHO.

Also Vivo V5 Plus supports fast charging which is a must have for me. With the supplied fast wall charger, the phone charges like a rocket: 0 to 80% battery -> 1 hour 0 to 100% battery -> 1 hour 45 mins Very happy with the fast charging times, as with just 1 hour charging the V5 Plus last me a whole day of heavy usage. Unfortunately their latest release Vivo V7+ does not supports fast charging and takes 3 hours for a full charge.

A soft reset. I seldom perform hard resets on any on my phones. I must admit I am very happy with my V5Plus running on Nougat. Google Assistant is now supported out of the box. Also I got it on an online deal at half the launching price of INR 28K back in Jan, 2017. At INR 14K, i simply cannot complain, it is a stellar device and great value for money for that price. It is even better than Vivo V7+ in my humble opinion.

The battery life on Vivo V5Plus remains excellent even after the recent Android Nougat update. I was using Vivo V3Max as my primary device for over a year and recently switched to V5Plus. Immediately recognized a noticeable jump in battery like of V5 Plus over V3Max, even though both models share same size battery. While V3Max used to get me through a day of heavy usage, V5Plus last for one and a half days of same usage. The key is definitely the newer Snapdragon 625 processor that sits inside V5Plus. Even though V3Max came with much powerful Snapdragon 652, it was not as power efficient & built on older 28 nm architecture. Snapdragon 625 on the other hand is built on 14 nm process, so it consumes much less battery & produces less heat. And on day to day usage I noticed no difference in performance between the two. Snapdragon 625 can handle even heavy graphics games of FullHd resolution on V5Plus. Most of all with V5Plus we are having access to the premium Vivo X-series phone and the built quality is reminiscent of my Vivo X5Max. There is always going to be a big gap between Vivo's premium X-series & low cost Y-series phones in terms of quality & performance. The recently released Vivo V7+ is actually a Y79 in China & Vivo V7 is Y75. Hence the plastic built Y79 (i.e V7+) can never be the successor of V5Plus even though Vivo India wants us to believe in that. The true successor of of V5Plus is Vivo X20 and it remains to be seen if Vivo releases this phone in India. Wise men will always pick the V5Plus over V7+ eyes closed, considering V5Plus is currently retailing at a much lower price that V7+.

I had no such issues. After Nougat update my laptop is connecting to Vivo V5 Plus as usual with WiFi Hotspot enabled. After this update user experience has improved and the UI to me seems more fluid. All V5 Plus owners should update to Nougat. Vivo is not like Lenovo. They provide stable updates where as with Lenovo user experience detoriates after each update. Take my Lenovo Vibe X3 as a burning example.

I remember Vivo launching their X9 smartphone in India last January as Vivo V5 Plus. As usual with Vivo's marketing policy in India (their second biggest market) after China, the launch price was crazy high at INR 28K. Six months down the line Xiaomi released the Mi A1 at a more sensible INR 15K. It was a phone with near identical specs, looks & built quality of V5Plus. I am a big fan of Vivo, but I hate their marketing strategy & initial high pricing. But two months back I struck a golden deal with Paytm Mall online retailer with huge discounts & additional cashback with some credit cards. Price of V5Plus fell by almost 50% to just INR 14K!!! At that price V5Plus was a steal and I bought one. After two months of using V5Plus as my primary phone, this is what I have to say: 1) Exemplary build quality, fit & finish. All metal unibody iPhone copycat design, the golden finish exudes a very premium look. 2) A very compact phone with a 5.5 inch FullHD screen, much smaller than other phones with same screen size. Kinder to my pocket and I love its compactness & rounded corners. 3) Very good display quality and very bright. Maybe not as accurate in color reproduction to my Lenovo Vibe X3 but none the less a very good 1080p IPS panel. 4) Excellent cellular reception quality, zero call drops, no cellular tower loss. All calls heard are loud and clear. This single trait of Vivo makes me stick with them. 5) Gorilla Glass 5 protection on display. Very scratch resistant display protection and even after heavy usage my phone has not a single scratch. 6) First ever internationally released Vivo phone to receive & Android version upgrade. I have owned all their flagships released internationally and only V5Plus received Android Marshmallow to Nougat update. Good to see Vivo is changing their upgrade policy. 7) Fluid & very stable Android experience, or should I say iOS like experience. Most stable Vivo phone I ever used. The Android skin of Vivo looks and feels a ditto copy of iPhone, but you get iPhone experience at such low price. 8) Fast charging out of the box with supplied 18 watt charger. 9) Very good primary camera quality. I don't take much selifies. However the Bokeh mode works during selfies. 10) Above average sound quality over headphones with dedicated AKM AK4376 audio chip. Vivo X5Max or Lenovo Vibe X3 had much superior sound quality. 11) Very loud internal speaker with good quality. 12) Support for 4G dual sim & VoLTE. 13) 64 GB internal memory with no option to extend memory size. 14) Even with 4 gigs of RAM, excellent RAM management . Overall at INR 14K, you cannot ask more from V5Plus. It is a very sturdy, compact sized phone with a much higher built quality than its competition at the current price I bought. A good all-rounder. The phone strikes a good balance with its very stable software and a good all rounder. Love this phone.

I have asked Vivo about this and they keep saying they have "no information" on 7.1.1 update for V5 Plus. I even emailed their Philippines, India, Thailand, Vietnam CMDs to ask about this - but nothing. It's very nonsensical that Vivo does not have information. Oppo didn't update their R9 to 6.0 in all countries, so it's possible that they may not update the V5 Plus, though it is the SAME phone with SAME mainboard as the X9i.

Network connectivity is a big problem in VIVO 5 PLUS.. Neither mobile network nor 3G/4G network is good in this phone. Vivo V5 plus is the worst phone. they sell it saying it has got corning gorilla glass cover. Just a minor drop and the entire LCD will break.. And it cost 6000 to get it repair. I have purchased this phone 20 days back and still they are not ready to provide warranty service. on the extreme this phone has a overheating problem..

Vivo V5? I am Vivo V5 user till now. So far Vivo V5 is very good phone for daily use. But not for high gamer lovers. The camera is also good, no heat, no complaint so far. If you would like go for Vivo V5 Plus, I think it will be better than my Vivo V5. The lack of Vivo V5 Plus is no microSD slot, so you should satisfy for 64 GB built-in memory. But, other reason, for the price is tagged to Vivo V5 Plus, if would be better if you use choose Oppo F1s 64 GB, price is cheaper than Vivo V5 Plus.

What amazes me with this smartphone is the battery. The battery last 24hours in simultaneous use of the handset. I charged it at 7pm then recharge again at 7pm the next day. That's not the thing. The thing is from full charge at night then started at work at 9am then i open the internet 4g LTE and the hotspot was open without off combined with other task like browsing facebook texts and calls from 9am to 6pm and still the battery is in 30% status around 5pm then waited to go home again at 7pm for the recharging. Its such a nice handset. Imagine if you don't use the hotspot and 4g LTE your battery lasts 48hrs. Nice handset. Perfect for my need.

My Vivo V5 (not Plus) when I checked WhatsApp, it had video call option. So, I think video call wouldn't be a problem. The most people maybe prefer video call using third party app. Say, WhatsApp is not good for video call, why don't try Skype, Viber or WeChat.

Hi Vivo, Using v5 plus but just yesterday i was opt to update the system optimization, as of writing i haven't no bad experience just the usual usage. My only concern is the themes (yeah right very pity concern) as i have read the optimization one of which was to generate more themes but as of checking still no additional themes. BTW, do you have plan to upgrade the 6.0 to 7.1.1 Nougat? Just don't be too left behind, this unit specs is better than the HTC one M8 but receive the nougat update. You can have more sales if you do update the OS to most recent versions.

Nowadays mobile phone releases as per trending by apple which Android follows trend that's why SD card was no bearing at all if it's 64gb up to the higher one. Number 2, Android marshmallow also not support SD card transferring of apps pictures videos and other data, so no use at all. Unless your phone lives at Android lollipop you can still use micro SD card. For me 64gb is enough.

Till now only one drawback I found is that it has no SD card slot. Though it supports OTG. Not a big problem for me. Except this one phone is superb. Battery backup is tooooo good. Camera (both rear and front), performance, call quality, net speed all are excellent. Also no heat problem.

I don't think Vivo V5 Plus is the worst phone. I use Vivo V5 also no native video call. Many smartphones I used before Vivo V5 also no native video call feature. I think, since available Skype, WeChat, Viber, etc. People nowadays prefer to choose video call using apps. For example in Indonesia, most Android here do not complaint about native video call, if any, only one or two people ask native video call feature. I personnaly prefer using app for video calling. On 2011 I still remember where I used Sony Ericsson Z610i, yes it had native video call feature, but the price was high using that feature. It took USD 1 (assuming 1 USD = Rp10.000) per minute. Compared with Skype, WeChat, Viber, people can subscribe internet package from operator network. I had tried, Skype to Skype friend video call, almost 50 minutes, took only not more than 200 MB.

If u hv more budget, please go for v5 Plus. I'm using v5plus now. It's working good. No problem, selfish was awesome, impressive. No lagging, phone running faster under 4GB ram. The most important is running with snapdragon 625, 14nm architecture manufacturing, more power saving. Nearly no heating problem accept u r running navigation system app, snapping longer time, but it didn't come to overheat, just normal heat. Thx.

I just loved this phone over my 22 phones buyed previously in last 2 years(S7 edge,OPPO F1plus, Galaxy A7, Galaxy S7, Note 5,Xiomi Redmi note 4,Galaxy note 4,Apple IPhone 6S, and many others) it's amazingly fast very well battery life awesome camera 📷. Vivo was not like this before. Atleast during the "Hi-Fi & Smart" days when their primary focus was audio. An example is my Vivo X5Max of early 2015, unique design of its own with a lot of personality. However with changing of their slogan to "Camera & Music" the synergies have shifted towards camera. And that too for front selfie camera for marketing reasons. And now they copy Apple iPhones in design & software and have become Chinese iPhone copycat versions running on Android. This denotes lack of R&D effort and better pour all the money in marketing while copying one of the best in the market be it in hardware or software level. This means Vivo is innovative no more. Sad to see the changes. :(

FIRSTLY, Snapdragon 625 SoC in Vivo V5 Plus does not support DDR3 RAM. :) Both Vivo V3 Max & V5 Plus uses 4 GB DDR3. However V3Max is more performance oriented with SD 652. SECONDLY, V5Plus may come with Marshmallow, but you will be hard pressed to find any additional features in V5Plus over V3Max. These Chinese ROMs are very consistent UIs and I have been using many Vivo phones like X5Max, X5Pro, XShot, X3s, V1, Y27L & V3Max for last three years. To put it straight in your face, Vivo does shameless copy of Apple iOS you find on Apple iPhones. THIRDLY, Virtual Reality(VR) is useless as of now due to very limited content availability. V5Plus does not support inherent technologies like Lenovo TheaterMax which you find in almost all Lenovo phones like Vibe X3 and Vibe P2 for example. You can use VR glasses with Vibe X3 and it truly provides a great cinematic experience with TheaterMax + Dolby Atmos audio. I own a Vibe X3 too, so I know what I am taking about. In the end, V5Plus even after discounts @ INR 24K is a NO GO from me. Its place is with Lenovo Vibe P2 with identical specs @ INR 18K. And with Vivo V3Max available at a lucrative price of INR 19K, it is a no brainier that V3Max is STILL the champ. :)

The V5 Plus cannot justify its price even at INR 24k. Its predecessor Vivo V3Max was launched at the same price, and then nobody bought it and Vivo was forced to reduce its price to INR 20k. :) Same fate is going to happen to V5Plus. Within few months you will find the price tumble down below INR 20k. The market is so competitive now in India. Still I will not buy this phone for lack of memory expansion.

With indigenization comes lowered costs to make a product. That was what Vivo tried to do by building their new factories in India. They are now assembling the Vivo V5 Plus in India. Hence their products should be available to the customer at much cheaper costs. However that is not the case with Vivo. They are bringing the manufacturing cost down while rising the price of their phones in India. More alarmingly they are utilizing their huge profit margin per phone for ultra heavy marketing expenses. I am astonished by the level of marketing & advertisements Vivo is doing this year. It is as if they want to wrap my city with Vivo logo. :( I would have preferred if they could spend they some amount of their profit in R&D and make their phone more easily accessible to customers at a much reasonable price.

If you buy a phone primarily to take selfies, then V5 Plus is worth every penny. For everything else look out for Vivo V3Max as it is a far superior phone in performance terms and overall a better value for money. Vivo V5 Plus do NOT support memory card. The information is WRONG in GSMArena. You have a dual SIM tray accepting two nano sims. It is not a hybrid SIM slot like its predecessor Vivo V3 Max. The V5Plus model launched in India is the 4GB RAM/ 64 GB internal memory version of Vivo X9. So, Chinese X9 = International V5Plus. With V5 Plus you will get 49 GB of usable memory and thats it. To me V5 Plus is a downgrade comparing to more performance oriented V3Max @ INR 19K. Except for the 20 MP selfie madness, I wonder why will ever people spill out INR 28K for V5 Plus when we have OnePlus 3T or ZTE Nubia Z11 available for INR 30K. Vivo's pricing policy is a total farce to me.

All is good except for the price. Launched in India today at sky high, crazy & absurdly high INR 28K, buying Vivo V5Plus makes no sense to me. When we get the more performance oriented Vivo V3Max for just INR 19K who will even think of buying V5Plus? This phone is only for selfie freaks with dual front camera and no microSD card support.

After watching GadgetMatch unboxing of Vivo V5Plus on YouTube, I discovered the biggest con of this device apart from low performance Snapdragon 625 SoC. NO OPTION TO USE MEMORY CARD IN VIVO V5 PLUS!!! While V3Max came with high performance Snapdragon 652 SoC and 32 GB internal memory, it also gave us the freedom to extend memory size upto 256 GB with microSD cards increasing total memory to 288 GB. But with V5Plus you are stuck with 64 GB internal memory ONLY which will give you roughly 55 GB of usable space!!! So heavy multimedia centric users like me will always stay away from V5Plus. At INR 28K, I will never buy this V5Plus for following reasons: 1) Crazy overpriced at INR 28K. Should cost INR 17K max. 2) I have Vivo V3Max which is better than V5Plus in every which way. 3) I am not a selfie freak. 4) It has no expandable storage and I desperately need one with my huge collection on lossless audio FLAC files.

Totally disappointed. It seems Vivo from last year is following the same path of releasing the least expensive and low performance variant of their X-series lineup as V-Series flagships on international markets. Take the new Vivo V5Plus as an example. Instead of upgrading the specs over its predecessor Vivo V3Max it seems V5Plus is a downgrade from performance side. Last quarter Vivo changed its slogan from “HiFi & Smart” to “Camera & Music”. Now their focus is entirely shifted towards camera, front selfie camera to be specific. I don’t like this shift as an audio aficionado. Recently they launched three phones in China namely: a) Vivo Xplay 6 (flagship phone with Snapdragon 821, 6 GB RAM, 128 GB internal memory, high end ESS Sabre DACs + Headphone amplifiers for audio) b) Vivo X9 Plus (higher midrange phone with Snapdragon 653, 6 GB RAM, 64/ 128 GB internal memory, high end ESS Sabre DACs + Headphone amplifiers for audio) c) Vivo X9 (midrange phone with Snapdragon 625, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB internal memory, passable AKM audio chips with OK sound quality) Now Vivo is re-launching their X9 as Vivo V5Plus internationally. Comparing with my Vivo V3Max below I find the advantages, disadvantages of V5Plus. Advantages: 1) V5Plus have more internal memory of 64 GB. V3Max had 32 GB. 2) Dual front selfie camera for selfie obsessed. I have no use of this freaky new feature as V3Max was already capable of some decent selfies. I would have loved if they provided equal attention to the main rear camera where it really matters. It seems more of a marketing move to me. 3) V5Plus camera sensors have more megapixels than V3Max. Unfortunately more MPs do not mean better picture quality. Under broad daylight the main 20 MP selfie shooter plus a 8 MP secondary sensor may take some decent shots with bokeh effects but under low lighting conditions it may suffer as the pixel size is much smaller now in the already crammed size of phone camera sensor. This is why real flagships from Samsung, LG & Apple do not run after megapixels. But MPs are good for marketing purposes. 4) Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display protection in V5 Plus. Much tougher display protection over V3Max with Gorilla Glass 3. 5) V5Plus ships with Android Marshmallow with Funtouch 3.0 overlay on top. V3Max comes with Android Lollipop with Funtouch 2.5. But this Funtouch overlay makes user experience very consistent over multiple Vivo devices and seldom utilizes any new feature found in new Android releases. So from end user perspective there will be no change in user experience be it V3Max or V5Plus both having same number of features. Disadvantages: 1) While V3Max had more expensive and better performance oriented Snapdragon 652 SoC, V5Plus does with a less performance oriented Snapdragon 625. Definitely a downgrade from performance aspect. I expected the natural upgrade to Snapdragon 653 in V5Plus. With same battery capacity on both devices and extremely efficient but ultimately weaker SD 625 SoC, V5Plus will definitely provide better battery backup. RAM remains same at 4 GB on both devices but being a power user I definitely give edge to V3Max. Identical: 1) Both have FullHD, 5.5 inch, IPS LCD display. 2) Both uses fast charging technology, so battery should get fully charged in 1.5 hours flat. 3) Near identical battery size of 3000 mAh. 4) Both are sturdy metal uni-body designed phones. 5) Both uses AKM audio chips that gives good audio performance through headphones but nothing exceptional in terms of audio quality. 6) Both contains standard 3.5mm audio jacks to plug any headphone of your choice. 7) Vivo V3Max supports 4G LTE out of the box. I believe V5Plus will also do the same, both being compatible with Reliance JIO connections. Audio: 1) V3Max came with AKM AK4375 audio chip, while V5Plus ships with AKM AK4376. Other that the change in code number there are almost no differences between the two audio chips in audio performance terms. If you are using an Apple iPhone 6, you will find both V3Max and V5Plus great sounding over quality earphones. But being a user of Vivo X5Max or Lenovo Vibe X3 encapsulating high-end ESS Sabre DACs & Texas Instruments Headphone amplifiers the V3Max & V5Plus sound quality is a big letdown for me. Make no mistake if you are after Hi-Fi audio then X5Max or Vibe X3 will only suffice. But for casual listeners using lossy audio sources like MP3 both V3Max & V5Plus are good. 2) The headphone driving capability of V3Max or V5Plus is much weaker than either Vivo X5Max or Lenovo Vibe X3. A real audiophile centric smartphone like X5Max will have enough driving power to drive high impedance audiophile grade earphones and some over-the ear headphones. Objectively speaking under HiFi mode X5Max is measured to reach -1.4 dB while V5Plus will only cough up -8.5 dB. This means V5Plus is designed keeping in mind that users will ONLY use cheap low impedance earphones while X5Max can drive any audiophile grade earphones you through at it. Verdict: Everything will depend on pricing. Currently Vivo V3Max retails for INR 19K in India, so with less performance in hand V5Plus should not cost more than V3Max. But I am pretty certain Vivo will launch it at a sky high price as always, maybe around absurd INR 25K ~ 27K price in India and then nobody will buy it. Over a course of 4 to 5 months’ time V5Plus will be available at the same price of V3Max. I will never buy this V5Plus for just one reason: It is not an upgrade over V3Max, to me it is a downgrade with less performance in hand. More over at around INR 17K you will get Lenovo Vibe P2 with same specs of V5Plus and additionally a monstrous 5100 mAh battery. You may argue Motorola Moto Z Play with same specs of V5Plus retails for INR 25K, but then there is no denying of the fact the Moto will definitely get two successive Android version upgrades in near future whereas V5Plus will forever be stuck to Android Marshmallow. And lastly the GOD Almighty Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with same specs of V5Plus is available at just INR 13K (4 GB version) with stonking 4100 mAh battery. I love to be an Indian with so many options.
