now 2 years and 7 months old for my phone .Always uses with a screen protector and a back cover. still not even a single scratch. brand new condition. if i can i would put photos here. battery enough for the entire day yet. i will hope to use this phone another 2 years and get a Xiaomi phone again.

Agree, best phone I've ever used. Great camera, great battery life , it gave me 7 hours of continues even after 2.5 years of use. Great community, and have a bunch of excellent developer. even now there is a 4.4 kernel working for mi5. The only minus might be no IP rating. The only phone i didn't regret to buy.

If you are not getting any update, chances are you are using a tampered rom. tampered roms are roms modified unofficially by unofficial distributors (not vendors or sellers). no worries dude, there is a definitive sollution, you just need to invest some time in flashing(installing) an official or unofficial rom. you can try this tool and see for yourself:

Very good size and spec phone. only problem is MIUI, keep that on marshmallow MIUI 8.1.4, anything above for MIUI for mi5 is slow. otherwise just use lineage OS officially supported OS and that will be like new phone.

Problems with RAM. i am writing on messenger and i want to open the calculator. while i had opened a page on google browser before. in some cases randomly the messenger will just vanish while im writing. apps close automatically or work very very slow. sometimes i press something and i wait some seconds for it to open. if i press to open an app by mistake i start swearing. because i have to wait for it to open and then i press the close button and then have to wait for it to close again. its very annoying. i had these problems since i bought it new in july 2017. im going to get another phone. but i want to give this to my dad, thats why i was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to make it slightly better. my dad uses phones only for youtube and calls. anyone had this issue? any solutions? thanks

Worst customer service in india. Authorised service centres don't know to find root cause of the issue. For new mobiles they say fluid issue hence not covered in warranty For mobiles out of warranty ( after 1 YEAR) , they tell its a mother board issue and need to replace mother board

I hardly get 4 hours of screen time. The battery drainage is very fast after miui 10 update. And also miui 10.2.2.0 was the last update for this beauty. Feeling sad for this. All things working good accept the battery performance.

I am using Mi5 for a very long time now (> 2 years), dropped it many times, very durable, but only cracked a little at sides but working fine as well. If battery life is your priority, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this phone to you. 3000 is too small to even stay for more than 1 day. If you are using mobile data out there, it is going to drain even more faster. However, the chipset is Snapdragon 820 (high end) with good graphics card. This phone is suitable for above average gaming. This phone is very cheap now considering the day since this phone is announced. You should update your budget for better phone like Mi8. Bigger battery with better camera plus chipset with full screen. I hope this review helps you. Good luck!

Please help me out. Network signals have been fluctuating. Sim1 signal would come full while sim2 goes off. Suddenly, SIM 2 will come full while sim1 goes off. Suddenly again, the two Sims will go off and come full within some seconds. I inserted my Sims into another phone and they have full signal. Nobody on same network complains of signal lost. open ur back case and there will be a screw at the center of the phone above battry. just remove that screw and dont put it again. in back cover their will be a extra piece which goes in the same place when u put that case, just take a blade and cut that off and put ur case back

Sorry for interrupting but I've switched the screen and I still have problem. I have Mi 5 for almost 2 years and for 3 months now the touch screen freezes. I changed it, I paid 50€ (almost 4.250 roupies) and the problem still lingers. I will not change the Xiaomi because I still have Mi 3 and it still rocks. I expected Mi 5 to be better. DO NOT buy Xiaomi phones as I faced problems of motherboard only after 1and half year. when I visited Mi service center, they gave me estimate of rupees 5400 estimate. When I asked that why this problem occured so their reply was, Motherboard problem is common on redmi note 4. so i asked why xiaomi did not extend warrenty on motherboad for its users if you already found out that there is a problem on Motherboad for this model. to that query they did not have any reply. so now we dont know on which phones there is a problem of motherboard. specs will be good but what about the quality at longer duration? so better is to go for some other good brands.

I dropped it like 40 times on concrete and it didnt break anywhere, only scratches but its my fault again. 15 days ago my mi5 acting crazy. Random touch recognitio, gost touches here and there. It has no cause whatsoever. It didnt fall from hight or didn't soaked. Still the perfect Xiaomi in my opinion. When I was choosing my phone, I wanted it to have USB Type C, NFC, OIS and 3,5mm jack. If you go into Phone Finder and tick all these boxes, this is the ONLY Xiaomi that has ALL of these features, and because of Xiaomi removing headphone jack on newer high-end phones and not putting NFC and USB-C on cheaper ones, it will most likely stay that way.

I've owned this smartphone for 1 year and 6 months, it already has dents OFC and I'm actually surprised that my camera lens has no scratches whatsoever, maybe that's sapphire glass doing its job. Since that there's no warranty to be voided, I tried to dismantle it only up to motherboard removal. What I saw: 1. The antenna lines were 3D printed to the plastic cover inside. The metal contacts for those antennas to the motherboard were 3D printed too which means it's not that sturdy when compared to copper and even aliminum contacts. 2. The top portion 3D antenna were already discolored maybe due to intrusion of water from sweat and splashes. MY DISAPPOINTMENT! The application of silicone adhesive and thermal pad to the SoC and two power ICs were very sloppy. 1. The thermal pad was shifted to the right exposing atleast 10% of the SoC unconvered. 2. Removing the shifted thermal pad shows a white silicone adhesive underneath which only covers 45% of the SoC on the upper right. Again this silicone adhesive was also shifted to the right which overshoots to the nearest caps and resistors around the right side of the SoC. 3. The two power ICs' has the same fate with the SoC, their thermal pads and silicone adhesive were all shifted to the right. If only that I knew this earlier, I should've repasted or repadded mine even before my warranty ends. I'm NOT advocating for everyone to open their Mi5, if ever you do, I'm not responsible for whatever happens to it. Godbless.

Updated to miui 10 2days ago The battery was being drained so fast, but since yesterday it became normal, the only big change is for notification and quick setting section, other sections are not changed, or very little changes. Overall its fun to see this update, bokeh effect is here doing its job perfectly, This phone still rocks

Bro it's so attractive in black and gold. i have owned the gold version for the last two years. The only con is it's battery heating issue and the back is too slippery. Other than that I can watch it in my palm for hours. Even Redmi 5 and Mix doesn't come close to it.

The Mi5 runs fine on the Xiaomi eu OREO rom. It still is a good phone if you are on a budget. Other offerings int he same pricerange will probably get you a worse processor SD625/626/660 etc. The SD820 is still good enough for mainstream use, mine is 16 months old and I still get through the day easily.

And further after the update, we are now not allowed to block notifications from Mi Apps application. This may be the reason for removing unimportant option also. But I think this is against Android policy.. we must be able to block notification from any app we want..?

After the update, there is no option for unimportant notifications folder, marking as unimportant, no option for separate notifications and toggles shade.. long press home button for torch doesn't work unless screen is of or locked.. It is a downgrade unless Xiaomi fix all these..

Although Mi5 is a year older, it's still a flagship, vs a lower mid J7 Pro. The advantage of J7 Pro is its screen size, AMOLED, bigger battery that comes with weight. The rest still the Mi5. Choose the one that suit your needs.

what props with this phone is 1- slippery back cover, better use cover or back sticker 2- touch screen panel easy broke ( mine crack by my key knock on it, and 2 time my kalimba fall on it, but still not effect my screen except for the digitizer. 3. - temperature, every one know that any Snapdragon is hot so no big deal because it hot while gaming, 4glte download especially with adm downloader. 5.- line coverage is normal as note7 hardware, as long is snapdragon, so dont expect so much because its not phone problem its a telco which earn more but less coverage. conclusion for the price i no regret as i bought it cheap than s7. only i hate the slippery cover and easy crack screen

Had this phone for about 10-11 months before switching to the Pixel 2 XL, and let me tell you it's not a bad phone. It's fast, has a clean android skin, and for the price, you really can't beat it. I will say however, it's no Pixel. After using both, the Mi 5 feels cheap and light in the hand and is extremely slippery due to the rounded glass back. Pros: -Fast (flagship like internals from a year ago) -MIUI which IMO is pretty clean -Great battery life (if you put it on battery saving mode, you can easily last 2 days and suffer little to no performance issues) -Rear camera is ok, although colors are a bit muted and photos are usually very grainy in low light -Speakers are decent -The fingerprint sensor is one of the fastest I've ever used. On par with the Pixel 2 XL or iPhone 7-8 -USB C Cons -Cheap, fragile design. Can easily fold in half -If in places other than Asia, repair services are almost impossible to find. -Likely to slip out of your hand without a case due to the glass back -No wireless charging (why else have a glass back???) -Front facing camera is honestly a piece of garbage The photos this camera takes are consistently the worst I have ever seen on a phone. All-in-all, this phone is great if you're on a budget. Just be weary that the front-facing camera constantly disappoints and the phone is pretty fragile.

There are only 3 root problem for charging 1. cable : this is the usual main cause, if charge but take too long, try replace this one first 2. Charger adapter : dont use cheap adapter, usually adapter from the box last long enough. if not, replace with another adapter qualcomm fast charging support. 3. Charging port : it will get loose overtime but it will hold for years, you can easily replace if broken.

probably you are using an old charger, try using a fast charger, at least 5v 2A this phone is capable of charging up to 18w, with quick charge 3. its all about the charger, the bigger the Voltage and Amperage is the faster it charge the phone

I'd like to post my opinion on the phone. After 1 year and 2 months is still like the first day, had a few issues dying around 40% battery but that cleared when I deleted about 1000 pictures from memory. Still a great phone and definitely worth the money.

Hi all, I bought mi 5 after reading many reviews, but experience has been really bad. So I am writing this hoping to help all. I bought this phone in sept 2016, the phone has only 1 issue, it's goes completely blank and non responsive. It has happened around 7 times in an year. Each time I took to Xiaomi authorized centre, couple of times the record sheet said removed refit , found ok. They updated software once and said it will be ok, untill phone was in warranty they even changed motherboard. Now my phone is out of warranty, and twice again it's gone blank, now again the service center is reporting motherboard issue. I am using a spare phone now. i get 3-4 hours, but SOT is not the best way to give you the battery life, screen on time with doing nothing, and sot while playing a game should not be compared together, its you that know how your phones battery is, i do charge my phone almost every 24-36 hours, with my moderate daily use. sometimes i have to charge it even while its on 40% because, i dont want to be stuck on empty battery next day. for me the miui9 has improved my experience with my mi5, the battery is better now, speed is much improved.

Kindly note that the flagship product of Xiaomi the MI5 has major issues in GPS. After the Andriod ver 7 same majority of the phones started having issues. Even after almost an year Xiaomi has not found a solution . You have to be a software developer and do changes in firmware to get this rectified. When you call the support desk they ask to do a factory reset which is cumbersome. Even after doing that it does not work. Just type " GPS not working MI " and you will see the complaints from world over . Read the frustration and you will not dare buy MI products. They are busy only selling and not even bothered to give fixes to existing customers. In today's world service is most important, Companies have collapsed only because of poor service, and hope the CEO Mr. Manu jain takes note of this. So even if your MI is working today, you never know the compability status when new version of Andriods are launched. Always buy Mi5, there is no comparison between A and Mi5, Mi5 is a premium smartphone with snapdragon processor and decent Camera while the A1 is a midrange smartphone with dual camera. Check the reviews on YouTube etc, you will get to know that in real life performance the camera is not that good as advertised. Further the camera of Mi 5 is just brilliant 16mp with OIS 4axis. If you learn how to use the manual modes and all, you will explore a bunch of its features. Another thing that people are saying that A1 is stock android and all, I personally love the modi interface, if has lot of customization. Now the battery life and performance is just wow, look at the design Mi 5 is the sexiest phone for this price. So my choice is Mi 5.

sorry for that, the best way is to upgrade to miui9, if your phone is locked, go ask for unlock permission then flash your phone to miui9, remember to backup your phone as it will wipe off your data completely.

Xiaomi Mi 5 screen is Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and im using Xiaomi Mi 5 Prime for a year plus already and i dropped it many times on the floor and my screen still dmn fine. If you are on stable ROM then first thing you need to do is, lodge a request from settings menu for unlocking your bootloader. It takes around 3-4 days to get the approval. Once you get the approval, wait for at least 72hours and then proceed with the steps required to install Beta version of MIUI9. I have mi5 for 6months now. Battery life is really good, but from the very first moment it keeps starting and killing apps spontaneously while the phone is not in use. I have tried every possible option and setting but couldn't find the solution. It is very frustrating. Once the screen got a yellow stint on one side (did not drop it or anything) I had it repaired on warranty, but it took more than 3 weeks and ever since the the right on screen button does not work. The customer support is really sloppy (at least in Hungary) so I did not return with the button problem to lack the phone for another three weeks. Finally I decided to change brand. Good hardware, not expensive, fast phone with long battery life but sloppy quality and obscurous and annoying software glitches.

I have the identical issue with my phone , it wont respond to touch when waking up , and has ghost touch issues when using in bright light, it is in my opinion a hardware issue you should try to get your money back. To test that it is a hardware issue try pressing on the usb port area when the touch does not respond and see if it helps , i sent mine back and requested a refund as i need my phone to be reliable and not do this kind of stuff when i need it the most so i will go for a more reliable model/brand even if i have to sacrifice features.

it is a completely total wastage of money. the funniest thing happens that it starts giving Display problems starts just after completing the warranty period.A very bad experience. However the phone may have some good features but durability is very poor. When I took it to service center many other persons found having this same issue on other MI brands also. Durability of phone is also a key factor while purchasing and can't be ignored. Whereas LAVA has also same features and is very durable because I have also used it and have purchased for my wife. My suggestion is not to purchase this phone.

Very bad experience so far after a week. Bought Mi5 from NIS-store. Slow delivery for this price, too slow. The vendor permitted to DHL "drop on door" option. Nice ah? You can't claim damage during shipping after. I'm lucky to have the phone not damaged. On the second day of using the device turned crazy. Every time the virtual keyboard was called the attack of dozens spontaneous touching hit the phone. I have a video. Wrought vendor support, replied with: do the factory reset. Common guys! The device is 24 hours after first booting! OK, factory reset, same crazy attacks. So vendor asked me to send the device back, for my money, absolutely with the most expensive service. Cost me about 20% of phone price to send back something that was broken from the box. After one month and dozen emails finally got the phone back, paid custom taxes again. The phone accumulated about 25% more price and not yet used normally for a day. There is no more "self-touching attacks" so far, but the device is very difficult to use. I'm personally like Google launcher, but Xiaomi doesn't. Freezings and malfunctioning all the way. OK, back to Miui launcher. The touchscreen is so difficult to use. Moving icon to the next screen became an Everest mission, not less than 10 attempts before it's done. It takes about 7 seconds to screen to start response after waking up. Imaging answer the phone calls. I have to keep Bluetooth garniture on all the time to not miss calls. Because Mister Phone has to take 7 seconds of waking up. Sometimes one wake up is not enough. I have to turn the screen off and on few times to finally get the touchscreen response. I'm not enjoying to have this device. I'm just waiting to change it to the real phone. I don't understand so high ratings on reviews. It's not more than really beautiful and very stupid and annoying piece of plastic. This is my tenth phone, fifth smart and the worst ever. Not recommend to anyone.

That's a difficult choice. -Mi5 if you have a tighter budget -S7 if you want the best screen/camera -iPhone6s for speed and updates Personally, I would buy the Xiaomi Mi 5s and put a custom ROM on it. That way I always have the latest updates, the fastest between the 3, and the best camera (if you use Camera NX HDR+, which you can download) and it isn't as fragile as the Mi5.

I too have a lot of problem with the battery consumption on my Mi 5. I have already complained to Xiaomi about this. You too complain about this. Maybe they might take this matter a bit more seriously. You can try the beta ROM for a while bcz the battery optimisation is a lot more better there.

Honestly go for mi5 64 gb version. It has the same cpu as the mi5s. The only difference is the camera but both take great pictures. Also the mi5s doesn't have any screen protection unlike the mi5s which has gorilla glass 4. Plus the mi5 is waaaaay cheaper. Go for mi5.

Before update to Nougat, my phone became very very hot when gaming (mobile legends & clash royale). Make me feel uncomfortable when holding my phone while playing. Well, I guess no problem to copy file larger than 4GB into it's internal memory, as I have copied a video file with 8GB in size without issue. And yes, Xiaomi Redmi series phone's supported Micro SD card file format is only FAT32, and this hit the file size limit.

That's a known limitation of FAT32. Since Android is essentially Linux, I think EXT4 could be used on memory card and remove the 4GB limit.

I am using the phone for one week now. Before telling anything, you should be warned that this phone is very slippery. Put it on the slightest sloping surface, and it will fall down to the ground. It happened twice with me. The good news is that it can withstand the fall on ceramic without scuffs or indentations. A cover is a must for this reason. All around it is excellent performer, nearly as good as a galaxy s6 with half price. Battery is OK, a full day except intense gaming or downloading or updating. You have a backup from the fast charging (full in 55 min). In my unit, the major disappointment is the camera performance. Less than lenovo vibe shot. ( You can say average or 60℅ of galaxy s 6).

If anyone of you has the 64GB or 128GB version, can confirm for me if this phone's internal storage can store single video file that is larger than 4GB? I just found out this limitation on my Micro SD card where in FAT32, I cannot store file over 4GB. Advises are formatting to exFAT or NTFS, but neither of the format can be supported by my phone.

I did it recently. First, you need to submit a request to Xiaomi, so they can send you a code unblocking your bootloader. This is necessary to overwrite the shop rom it usually comes with the phone. Yeah Definitely bro ! I was using a nexus 5 and ehm .... It was stolen. And i was kinda hesitant before buying this phone. But now i assure you won't regret it one bit. And you will feel every ounce of power this phone has i could say it's actually on bar with galaxy s7 in terms of raw power. Only problem is build quality. The phone is easy to shatter so i would recommend you buying a phone case from eBay or Amazon. Also the OS updates are not as fast as it is on the nexus 5 so it will take some time to get used to not having the latest firmware the moment it' released.

I get the standard version at Hong Kong, the 4G network is not stable indeed, the 4g signal will be off and on again within 5 mins. This is a hard factor that can not be fixed. If you really want to buy this phone, you need to prepare to use back 3G network. But honestly, the 3G network is stable from my 2 weeks usage experience. In case, you do not play game, the mi 5 is still a good choice here. The battery performance is very good, i can cfm that this can use it one days w/o charging if you don't play game and just for general use, like visit web site and using some communication apps.

Im currently using mi 5 prime for 2 month now before, i used oppo r8113 which is last for almost 4 year this is my review of xiaomi mi 5 -the performance is nice it's compareable to galaxy s7 it runs games verywell like nova, vanglory, ashpalt, modern combat 5 and after hours of hard gaming the phone only become warm not hot - the battery sounds pretty small 3000 mah, but actually it's pretty good it can last long for 1 day on normal use, on heavy use it can last long 4-6 hour and there is no battery draining -the hardware is pretty good, i buy this after i saw a youtuber try to bend this phone and it's pretty easy to bend, i got scared but if you buy a case it'll be fine like mine, nothing to be afraid of as long as you careful -the camera it's decent and capture photo fast, it's not gonna beat samsung s7 camera but it's pretty good - miui 8 is fast, easy, and rich feature ui, you can switch the capacitive buttons, you can set the home button to tapable, and there are so many variation on the theme -the soudlnd it's pretty good not too loud and not great -the phone is a bit laggy when comes to multitasking, when you switching apps from multitasking button, it's slow to open but offeral im happy with this phone hope it can last long for a year or more

The phone is great as a piece of hardware, but if you purchase a phone in China, you are screwed as it's not capable of running google services properly. So common apps like Google Maps, downloading new apps from Google Play Store DO NOT WORK. I find that very poor that an Android phone can't run google apps or play store out of the box. Xiao Mi service is weak. It's technically possible to change to the Global ROM apparently, but the unlocking tool does not seem to work on the Xiao Mi 4. I have now had many weeks of emails with Xiao Mi support, which seems to come out of India for international support and who keep generically suggesting same links or suggestions which are not working. Very disappointed and wished I had paid more for an Android phone which runs Google Services properly or an iPhone.

I've got the Xiaomi Mi5 3Gb RAM, 64Gb internal, 2-3 months ago (like a week later I found out Mi6 is going to be released, but oh well..) So shortly about this phone in my opinion (pros and cons I guess): - It is fast, sometimes lags, but only SOMETIMES. I just clear the RAM and everything is fine. - It heats, but only when I'm gaming, or charging it. And the heat is not crazy high. - Fast charge works well, it charges my phone to 100% in about an hour or so. - Battery holds quite long. I use FB, Messenger, Instagram and some games throughout the day and I charge only once in 24h. For really heavy users battery should hold 12h no problem. - Camera quality for me is very good. Auto-focus is sometimes weird. - The phone is slippery on a sofa or bed, but not in my hand. - MIUI never bugged for me, works smooth. - Audio quality is good. - Calls quality very good. - Has a LED notification light. - Fingerprint scanner works well, only sometimes doesn't want to recognise one of my fingers lol. - The Gold color looks more like an iPhone Rose gold color.

I don't know if only i had bad expirience with this phone or what... I bought this phone and the red light was blinking when charging. I didn't manage to get any juice from it, i didn't see screen or anything at all, just blinking red light. Then suddendly phone woke up with 0% battery and starts charging....I started charging at 6 pm and it ended at 12 pm...what a.... Then worst update service. it downloaded very very slowelly 3,2 GB patch and then when i got my phone on charger procentage went down instead up when downloading or. heavy duty...I had never seen this before. When i manage to get things working and it is 4 AM (install all apps, migrate contacts ....) then i insert sim card. Ok it works.... for 14 minutes, then reboot, ok i thoungt there was something wrong with network or registration on network but what pissed me off was rebbot issue when randomly open apps. I returned this phone i get my money back. Thanks god i didn't buy it from China. and another thing. I did get charger made in china in corrosion state. Never again Xiomi for me. another issue was battey life. In 30 minutes fall from 100% to 95% doing nothing...when tried to optimize (from youtube) rebooting issue. Today i bought Galaxy s7. Worth every money.

It's summer right now and our temparature is 40-43 deg. and when i am playing mobile legends using data connection its getting hot (15-20 mins play time) and i rest my phone every single game, my battery temp is 44 deg. but in night i dont have problem on any heating issues.

After 1 year of usage i am writing this review. First of all camera...it's really bad..the images are grainy and not sharp and in low light or at night the situation is more worse...on zooming the images become like they are water coloured... front camera is ok not great...video quality in low light is really bad...second, after updating it to miui 8. It has stopped replying whatsapp messages from notification bar like it used to be before...during summer sthe phone gets heated like hot iron...when ever you charge the phone it displays that the temperature is above 45°c...the only thing which i like in this phone is that its light weight and screen to body ratio is good...so lastly, if you are looking for a phone with decent camera quality and sharp pictures i would not recommend to buy mi5.

After Nougat update front camera images are blurry. They were fantastic before the update. Any solutions?

I got MI5 for a couple of months......original MIUI had some chinese malware (had pop ups commercials and stuff), so i unlocked it (officialy) and first run it on CM13 - dont do that - batery life was shorter, camera didnt work, or worked with lags, GPS didnt work at all, couple times it froze.....so i switched to EU ROM...ok this is a bit better - gps works, camera works, but.....one day figer sensor stopped working and doesn work till today.....generally phone has problems if u wear it in a pocked while lets say doing some sport - guess moisture comes into the phone and then it starts to become laggy/unresponsible..... I would not recomend to buy that phone, unless u like changing ROMs every day for trial and error - which one will work best, or lets say on which rom most of the features will work - all of them wont i guess.....its not made to work in EU i guess - GPS problems seem to be related to this.....

I dont know, but for me I am constantly getting 4-5hrs SOT for 22-24hrs run time with nfc off, capacitve buttons off, gps set to battery saving, brightness at auto mode. I have only few apps and just using the phone for Facebook and web browsing + watsapp messaging.

Hello everyone! The Xiaomi mi5 is my 3rd phone. I got 3gb 64gb version from china for 1800 yuan=280$ and I've got to say that for the price its unbeatable.As far as updates are concerned I'm satisfied coz at least they are ota updates and Xiaomi seems fast in sending them. Currently running android 7.0 nougat with miui 8.2. Scored 125800 points on antutu. Camera is awesome in daylight as well as low light. OIS and Xiaomi's own hht modes helps a lot. In the video department 4k is awesome even in low light. Slow motion is acceptable in daylight but not in low light. I think there should be a 60fps mode in 1080p as the Snapdragon 820 supports it. Looks and design is very nice with some nice texture on the back specially in the gold version. Durability wise i think its good coz it has fallen 3 4 times from normal height and no scratches whatsoever but watching some tests on YouTube clearly shows that a good case in necessary. Overall for 280$ no phone is as good as this in the Android market according to me.I hope this helps some people who are in doubt about this phone. Thanks.

For 0 reasons provided you choose the note 4. I would never choose a note 4 over the mi5 because the mi5 is a much superior piece of technology. If you get a note 4 now you will want an upgrade in 6 months minimum because its aging and not even that much better than the note3

I don't think so, my phone only heated up to 45°c on heavy gaming graphics. It still consider as normal temperature. Overheated If cpu reached 50°c and it can damage the chip board.

Here's my opinion after 1 month using mi5 3gb ram/64gb model Pros : *best price for flagship smartphone ever *great performance on gaming and multi tasking *antutu score 135k *nice design & light weight *great screen with dense pixel *superb daylight camera quality with stabilisation (anti shake features) *good battery performance with fast charging, charging time takes 1 hour from 10% to 100% *corning gorilla glass 4 front and back, I don't really need to use temper glass, this screen are quite strong scratch proof Cons : *video recording quality can be better *average speaker quality *low light camera quality a bit noise *slippery and fingerprint on back (it doesn't really matter if u wear case) *thick lcd bezel on left & right side (if u feel this annoying please choose the black color or wear protection case) *phone can get warm but it's not really overheated, the highest temperature I recorded using app are 45°c (but if u wear protection case u will never notice it) Overall score 9/10, price performance flagship, beautiful design & smooth performance :)

I own an s7 and mi 5. I can say the only difference you can fel is with the cameras, back cam of s7 is more superior but front cam of mi 5 for me is more superior compared to the front of s7. Battery sot I am getting 4:30 to 5:20hrs on me 5 20-24hrs runtime. While on my s7 I am gettimg 5-6hrs in a 24-30hrs runtime. Ihave the 64Gb version of mi5 and its really good, got it for 220$, no regrets, its a better choice than the oneplus 3/3T which is @450$

It's a very good phone. It has a very nice camera, audio output and charging speed is terrific. The images aren't grainy and audio is loud and clear. Worth every cent you pay for it. With regard to the screen protection, it's just a matter of how well you take care of your things. ;)

100% right but no need to force to get 100% in 30-40 minutes. 1.3 Hours is great enough to maintain balance between get fast charged battery and long battery life. Remember, Xiaomi dont have Qnovo or other tech to prolong battery life (for now). Wise decision is better than fast fast fast!

please update it with global stable rom... u must unlock bootloader and after few days u get permission... connect phone to computer and unlock ur fone... then download Updated rom (zip file for recovery mode only) from miui.com... then save that file to ur mobile.. go to software update and click 3dots on right top... Select CHOOSE UPDATE PACKAGE... click ur downloaded zip file... sit back and relax for few mins... :) ur fone works well... in from india too.. im enjoying now i love my. phone more...

It has good built quality ( of course it has, it's sony's main class before xz come) and share same procie with mi5 prime & pro edition (not with standard edition cuz it use underclocked version). If you are talking about wired headphones, then do not purchase wired one because mi5 has very low volume output from wired headphones. That is why i purchased v-moda wireless and believe me with wireless the sound quality of my mi5 is just awsome and very good volume level so its like night and day difference when using wired and wireless.

same problem here. after updating to 8.1.2.0 battery drains fast. just too fast. turned off location, nfc, wifi autosearch(wifi still searches at the background even already connected to a network), and data connection. and only connected to wifi. simple games like ClashOfClans and surfing drains like 1 - 3 percent every 10mins

I got this phone about 2 weeks ago myself! For a flagship phone that is almost one year old, I must say it is definitely very zippy and performs almost on par with the S7 edge! Very nice camera. To further put things in perspective while the S7 & 6S cameras would both be rated a bit higher at 9.5/10, I'd give the ones on the Mi5 an 8.5/10. Other areas in performance is pretty much level across the field in real world usage among these handsets. It is so damn fast & smooth! I love how it flies through facebook, IG and other apps. It also switches between them & recharges very quickly. That snapdragon 820 chipset is surely no slouch!!! In early 2017 I'd have to say it's a great buy & can now be found for just above $200 on Geekbuying (where i got mine), Banggood & Oppomart.

there is some some software using you battery, are you using dual app option, uninstall unwatnted softwares, one time drain your batter till to 0 than charge again to full with original charger and cable. if you are using 2 pin plug, plug in reverse and check.

my previous phone was LG G3 compare to the g3 i found these things with mi5 1. display quality is superb with g3 and mi5 is average (qhd vs fhd) 2. when playing a video mi5 display clearly is less. even 4k video, i notice a little blur 3. G3 camera is fantastic. full of details. mi5 has less details but color quality is good. 4. video camera is poor with mi5.even 4k mode pathetic. g3 is super. 5. MIUI is nice.LG os is bad. 6. mi5 battery life is good g3 poor. 7. g3 has heating issues. when 4k recording is gets extremely hot. mi5 is actually ok. 8. build quality, design, look are happy with mi5. 9. biggest problem is mi5 is not strong because little 7.3mm thickness and low quality frame. 10. at the end mi5 is more than enough for such a low price. dont expect much for that price.

How about Lenovo Z2 Plus (Zuk Z2). It is powered by 2.15 Ghz CPU compared to Mi 5 1.8 Ghz CPU. Lenovo Z2 Plus is a compact phone so I guess it won't bent easy (not sure). It has larger storage (64 GB) too. It uses ZUI which is still developing but looks like ZUI heading the right way. It also have better front camera but Mi5 have better rear one. Z2 Plus somehow costs cheaper than Base Model Mi5 so...

Entirely up to you, but I can said that mi 5 is better than your A5. Now what you prefer? There are a lot of choice but no phone can compete mi 5 in its price segment. It almost 1 years old phone but if you dont mind, it suit you. But if you perform JerryRig Show at home, choice another phone, yes the phone can break on 2 but not that easy. I'm using mi 5 and it most all I carried it in my back pocked, even I'm driving car/bike, at office, home, coach, sometimes I fall sleep while watching TV and forget the phone in my back pocket, nothing happen and still work well and fast. I drop it for 5-6 times and nothing break/broken, just a 1 mm scratch for almost a half year using this phone. SUPERB. I have S7, XZ and still purchase mi5 for my third. Think why!

However all the specs & performance & build quality are all a class apart. I would've liked the in call volume & speakers volume a notch up. No complaints but only praises for this phone. This with my teacher's Sony Xperia. He thought that it wouldn't work again. But the actually the problem was IT WAS HUNG... I can't give you a guarantee.. Still I can advice you to perform a soft reset(or reboot). My teacher first went to a well-decorated mobile-repairing centre.. There they said it must be replaced.. I would like to share my testimonial for using Mi5 since June 2016 - Feb 2017.. A little background before I used mi5, I've been using redmi 2s for almost 15 months. Red mi 2s has been really great aside from its low memory and being unable to move apps to an external SD card. I still remember how hyped i am when mi5 was finally announced! redmi 2s has been worth my money and being a fan of the underdog I definitely wanted to upgrade into mi5 seeing how it compares to the (used to be) new samsung and iphone. So I finally bought my mi5 on June 2016.. The first month is soo awesome! I boasted about mi5 to all my friends and family! The camera is no doubt one of the best in 2016 and the color of the video record is outstanding! Games are no big deal! It can load games very fast and fps never went down. It also takes a while for it to eventually heat up which i'm pretty sure is normal and i probably need to stop playing by that time it happens. Above all, it is wayyyy cheaper than the over hype samsung s7/iPhone7 which i think is probably on par with mi5. Then the second month came.. Problem started to happen. When receiving a text messages, my Mi5 can suddenly vibrates vigorously and never stop until I restart the device. Well it is not a big deal since it is easily stop by just restarting it and it doesnt happen everyday. Maybe once a month(?). On November 2016, my Mi5 4G stop working.. Not that it stops working completely but there is a problem with the internet DATA connection. Wi-Fi works fine but if i am not using wi-fi, my internet will keep switching between H+, 4G, and no signal.. I live in Indonesia and I thought maybe it is the service provider fault that this happens.. But no! We finally figure out that somehow this Mi5 keeps trying to connect to 4G but keeps getting blocked.. I change my mi5 settings to "Prefered 3G" and everything went back to normal.. It's all happy and well until Feb 12 2017 happens.. Its just like any ordinary days.. I happen to charge my battery during lunch time and been using it normally until around 5 PM.. I went for an exercise and check my Mi5 again around 7 PM.. and THERE IT IS! It's off and I can't turn it back on! I remembered I charged it on the afternoon and there is no way the battery died within just a few hours.. but I'm still being positive! so when I went home I charged it for a couple hours thinking that it might just turn on again.. There is no light indicator of it charging / being charged so I google and tried every possible ways to turn it on without having to open the screws (which will void the warranty). No luck! I brought it to the service center the next day and after a week I finally found out that it is totally dead! It can't be fixed since the problem lies around the RAM area.. The area will just turn really hot when it is charged and nothing will happen. So thats my experience on using Mi5 for about 9 months.. It could be just that i am unlucky that all this problem occured, but you can actually google all the problems that i have face and THERE ARE people with the same problem as me.. Well, its worth the try but it is just proof that $$ doesnt lie..

If ure stil active over here i want to help u out , at least i want to try . Android 7 (Nougat) is not (yet) avaiable for Mi5 , but MIUI 8 is still based on Android 6.X.x. If u bought the phone at Gearbest or another Import Dealer u might have a "fake" MIUI Version and maybe u need to flash to an official ROM at first.

Vendor's rom: usually modified chinese rom, for some countries they use it to fulfill the regulation. Real rom: can be china rom or global rom, it's official Xiaomi's rom. Chinese rom only have chinese as the language and didn't have google apps, they only have chinese apps as their stock apps and you can't install any google apps or apps from playstore; while global rom have multiple language and of course google apps as their stock apps.

There's a tutorial on Miui forum that you just have to copy the rom that you downloaded from your pc into your phone. But i think you have to rename it first. Open the Updater on your phone. Tap those three dots on upper right of the screen, then tap 'choose update package'. Find that rom in your files to start the update.

That particular model which you bought might have defect. Otherwise this phone is better than many other high end phones available in market. I may say this is even better than iphone (I am a big fan of iPhone and used till iPhones for more than 7 years).

Its a great phone , yes android 7.0 is expected for this phone , the only issue i faced was adware , which i was easily able to get rid of by flashing an official rom from xaiomi. great battery life , best part 30 minutes 83 %

i would definitely recommend you to choose Xiaomi mi5. Its wayyyy mooore beter than redmi note 4. Mi5 have Snapdragon 820, note 4 only 625. Its mean that mi5 works more smoother than note 4. You can comper: Mi5=Samsung Galaxy s6!(cameras and performance between these two is similar) Note4=redmi note 3. I think you should definitely buy Mi5 bro!

i'm using mi5 for nearly 2 months, very nice phone, of course no phone is perfect even the hefty flagships, but this phone with its price gives you things no other phone can, premium quality, very beautiful design, very light (129g), miui is another point for this phone, i have never encountered heat problem, except when its plugged to the charger and im playing a heavy game, it gets war but never hot, if you have limited budget, you can't find anything else near this phone. Specially when the memory card is low quality...just like a computer with a usb storage device - its fast to access your harddrive than accessessing the portable usb device.........and for the non-removable battery, all phones (not all but majority) that exceed 3000mAh have non removable battery...i dunno why

I have been a Mi5 user for over a month now. I will list my pros and cons below, and would like your feedback on what would be a reasonable replacement later this year. Pros: Most of all, I love the relatively small footprint. I think phones 5.5" and upwards offer a lot, but become too cumbersome to carry around. Any smaller would impact the multimedia experience. Screen brightness and resolution are excellent. Battery is excellent considering the size of the phone. The quick charging comes in handy. In fact I manage to bring it from 20%-98% while showering and having breakfast in the morning. The phone was extremely cheap given its specs. This means I will afford an upgrade already this year. Cons: It is VERY slippery. I solved this using a thin Nilkin case. Thanks to the small phone, it is still small even with a case. I miss my old phones (Huawei Mate S) deep blacks and punchy colors due to its AMOLED screen. Headphone audio output is sometimes not loud enough when I'm on my noisy commute. My replacement options below, and the reasons I have not gone with any of them (yet): Galaxy S7 (edge and normal) looks great and gets great reviews. However, it is bigger than my Mi5 and around twice as expensive. OnePlus 3T would probably be my phone if I didn't have my Mi5. It would be an upgrade in performance, screen and battery life. But this would be at the expense of higher price and larger footprint. Huawei Mate 9 Pro looks great but would be even bigger and more expensive. Google Pixel (and XL) also look good but for me, the price tules them out. ZTE Axon 7 looks really interesting and comes fairly cheap. The Galaxy S8 will likely be awesome, but I am sure it will be over budget for me. Which other ones should I consider?

Just used mi 5 32gb gold version for around 1 week. It look not exactly gold but rose gold. Overall it was a very good experience. When first charging the phone it is quite warm but it charge super fast with my imported Xiaomi charger together with my phone when i bought it. Approximately 5% not longer than 5 minutes. the fingerprint sensor is very fast. performance is no issue and no lag, but for ram it already eats up 1.5gb so left 1.6 gb max free ram. It feels very glassy not cheap in hand, very light. Speaker is very loud and for calling audio actually can set it to higher when you are RECEIVING CALL or IN CALL by pressing the volume up button. camera is not what I expected. for example, you have to manually set the light brighter or to tap on screen to focus at a spot to make it brighter. I hope that the camera will automatically fix this. Colour reproduction is very good, lively, sharp. less noise but you will see noise in low light mode, it looks like have a lot of black dot there. Front camera is not an issue at all, very sharp, very light sensitive, realistic pictures but not so in low light because mi 5 dont have front led light. I hate it when I can't uninstall some stock google apps in my phone, hmnnn By the way, that is not everything, there are more software features that are offered in mi 5!! I don't feel bored using it. I even can hear clearly using my brother's headphones with my mi 5, imagine if paired with original Xiaomi earphones!!! I hope my experience can help you, and by the way, the price is cheap considering the hardware offered here. it cost RM1088 in Malaysia and I can't expect more from that. thank you!

Using this phone for one week and the phone is perfect! Compact body and great finish. Calls sound great, great performance of SD820, screen has good colors and brightness. I have the basic model with 3GB of ram, 4GB would be a lot better for future proofing but for now it handles multitasking easily. Pictures are also very good, I would say that the only thing that is not good is sound in videos, it could be a lot better. Video quality is very good but sound is lacking...
