ZTE Grand X Max 2 - User Reviews

  • *sees phone* Ohhh! Nice one! *sees RAM* forget it... Wow ZTE! You managed to fail on the RAM, Otherwise...Looks like a great phone!

  • I’ve had this phone a while and really never had a problem with it. I like phones with a very large screens and this doesn’t disappoint, Great reception great video great sound and I have it through cricket, I just don’t understand what the bad reviews are about. Now if they made a larger screen with more ram and more internal memory that’s what I’m looking for now.

  • Could y'all somehow update the device. Like for the USB c hdmi adapter.... I have a YouTube channel about how to pass by phone problems. But I get this question every time. Why doesn't it work or why isn't it supported. I try to find a solution but I'm out of luck. I tried everything. Please help

  • The only 2 issues I have with this phone is: the Bluetooth cutting out or skipping, and whenever my phone freezes up, I'll turn it off and turn it back on, my battery life goes way down. Other than those 2 issues, I love this phone. I've had this phone for a good while :)

  • this phone sucks and has every since i got it. whats worse is there is no support for it. they don't carry batteries or anything. Straight talk here i come. my daughter talked me into putting me on her plan so i said sure why not. all i can said is cricker sucks and im going back to straighttalk

  • ive had this phone almost since it first came out july of 2016.A year and 4 months later and it still works better than ever.Ive never had a issue with this phone and im a heavy daily user.

  • cricket told my friend that this phone was only supposed to last the owner for a year my phone froze today and i tried to cut it off then back on i have lost every thing due to the fact it has not gotten past the cricket screen

  • I was using a LG cellphone and having the same problem, so i installed Nova launcher to replace the default launcher and everything was great

  • My issue is 2 days ago my phone started saying Launcher3 is not working and I would have to restart the phone to even make a call. Then it started sending a message that said. "Take a break and come back later" What???? Then when I restarted it once yesterday it froze on the Cricket logo part of the restart and would not do anything. Took it back to the Cricket store one of the young ladies got it unstuck and told me an app had hung up and there was nothing wrong with my phone. Well last night it hung up again I tried to fix it the way she did to no avail. This morning they tell me I have to send it back in. It is only 6 months old so it is still under warranty, so that is fine , but I had to buy a cheap phone to use, because of a family illness can't not have a phone in case there is an emergency . I am very disappointed and was told this phone has had no issues and I see all of these mentioned here.

  • you have to make sure that neither facebook and youtube are running at the same time pretty much if you want good video playback you must make sure to open the app drawer and close off either of these apps or else the video skipping will happen

  • zte grand x max 2 is garbage. im typing this on a computer, because the phones keyboard decided to not open... that happens a lot. I find myself having to reboot the phone 3-4 times a week, for various reasons. sometimes the volume turns its self off and wont come back on, the system freezes up, or screen is blank and wont allow you to do anything other than reboot. the phone cant just screen shot something. you have to go to the actual main page, then go into your setting, and hope that it will allow you screen shot it from there. this phone love to advertise. while sending a text, you get a pop up ad. setting an alarm, pop up ad. want to turn that alarm off, pop up ad. seems no matter what youre doing, you see annoying advertisements. the battery life is pretty terrible. I don't use my phone much while at work. it spends most of the day in my tool box. somehow, by the time I get home, its below 30%. the only good things I can say about this phone, it has a large screen, and the speaker are pretty loud (you may need to reboot to get them to work). those 2 things don't make it worth buying. find something better, don't get ripper off like I did.

  • I'm also having issues on FB videos and powering off. Now today my volume buttons stopped working. My phone has never been dropped or damaged. Very disappointed in this ZTE grand Max 2. Didn't have any problems with FB or cricket service until I got this phone and issues. My Idol 2 had zero issues I might just go back to it.

  • I have been searching everywhere for Adobe Flash compatible with this phone. Can't find it! Anyone else have any success?

  • We have 3 of these phones in my house, 4 if you count the one my 3 year old uses for Netflix and games. They all have the same issues. Bluetooth cuts out, phone freezes and restarts several times a day, can't watch many videos. Some will play for a second or two then skip to the end. We don't have that issue with Netflix, just YouTube, and Facebook and places like that. It does have a nice big screen, and the price is great. We live with the inconveniences, but bottom line, you get what you pay for.

  • I am having the same problem, I went to Facebook thru Google instead of the app and all videos played no problem. Not sure if this is your issue.

  • Ads on your home screen are from apps you have downloaded. The most common culprits are security and virus software.

  • You can have the charging port resoldered if it's still functional. The most common reason for that is the port is broken loose.

  • I have the zte grand x Max 2 and I am having problems with it charging, no matter how many new cords I buy it's not wanting to charging is there way to get it fixed if so is it expensive

  • Great looking phone, love the big screen. Nice clear pics taken from rear camera. BUT, as most people here, I've the very same issues with videos not playing and/or skipping to the end when I'm using apps like Twitter and Facebook. On the browser, audio lags behind on videos. Further more, even on apps like Spotify the music skips or stops all together. Needless to say, I'm disappointed to the core. I've no other choice than to purchase another phone.

  • This is the worst phone I've ever had. The worst part is that with my busy schedule I didn't make it back within the 7 days. I would have gotten a completely different phone. I really rely on my Bluetooth and this phone constantly cuts out disconnects and gargles. I'm not sure how a phone this terrible was even released on the market. If Cricket won't do anything about this, I am simply going with a different carrier and I am going to do nothing but preach about Crickets poor customer service

  • How do I get rid of ads on the home screen n during internet viewing

  • Can you guys please fix the problem of the phone skipping videos to the end. Really appreciate it if you guys can solve this issue.

  • Mine did that, I had it sent out and they replaced it but it was just the charger.

  • I'm having the same issue with the videos skipping on Facebook and sometimes YouTube. Have you gotten your issue resolved?

  • I'm having the same problem now, did you ever get yours going again tho?

  • I've had this phone for almost a year & I've had a few issues. The biggest is my Bluetooth doesn't connect with my car at all. I've tried resetting it & when I spoke to Cricket, they told me I would have to send it in to the manufacturer, but then I would be without a phone. Here's all the issues I've had: -Bluetooth won't connect to vehicle -Videos skip to the end on Facebook, Twitter, & also periodically with YouTube -Audio is garbled when recording videos, especially when recording somewhere with loud noise If those issues were resolved especially the Bluetooth & video skipping, it would be a pretty awesome phone.

  • Same thing with mines.

  • I don't have that problem, but I have noticed that I am unable to play facebook and twitter videos. It skips right to the end. My phone calls also have a echo to them.

  • I've had mine for about one year, so far no problems, nothing to complain about. Love the screen size.

  • I bought the ZTE GRAND MAX 2 two weeks ago & 1 week I noticed the big problem about the phone, being shutting off by itself almost every 20 - 40 minutes. Does anybody go through the same problem as I do? I went to Cricket & they said to call Customer service & was told by them, there's a lot a people have problems with this brand. I have to know how many people out there who go/went through the same or similar problem before I have to file a complaint on the BBB website. Thank you!

  • I got this phone a while back and love it tremendously. I have no bad things to say about it. That being said, I refuse to pay $650+ for an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. This ZTE Z988 is only $149! Maybe it is possible it is not as reliable as the top priced alternatives (I never owned a Samsung or iPhone), but such a good solid reliable phone (for me) at the price I paid cannot be disregarded. Again, I have had NO problems with the phone and feel great about it. When I had any questions the ZTE support team have been so considerate and wonderful...and EXTREMELY polite. They ask you to rate them at the end of the phone call and I give them 5 stars. I think the phone is plenty fast and holds a charge all day. I drive for Uber and Lyft part time and the large screen really helps me see the navigation. Please don't worry about the few negative reviews. Usually the people who have problems will bother to write a negative review, the satisfied customers will not even think about praising the phone, because the phone does its job and probably does not spectacularly amaze them which would warrant them to write a positive review. I personally feel the phone is great and has a crazy low price, and if there IS a problem, ZTE WILL stand by their product. Highly recommended by me (and I am not a ZTE salesman).

  • Hi I just purchased the grand Max 2 with cricket wireless and every since I've had it when I try to play videos it either skips forward like the video has been watched already or it just doesn't play... I have never had this problem with Metro PCS and I had the exact same phone with them. I took my phone to cricket wireless and they said that they have been having this same problem with a lot of people coming to tell them about this same phone and they say ZTE is the problem(meaning it's the phone not them). So I need answers and I need them NOW!!! My email is [email protected] please let me know something...

  • Where did you download the adobe flash? They stopped making that for androids back in 2013 on 4.0. I am currently having the same video issues, lagging up and stopping in Facebook or skipping to the end of the video and then not playing. Also none of the sound matches up with the video, its a small maybe -0.2 seconds off but its noticeable on such a large screen. I've look everywhere and can't find any solutions, please help.

  • I would like to know why is it a green and white flower icon on my home screen and how do I remove it?

  • I currently have the same problem except my grand Max 2 has a dead spot at the top of my screen. But when I asked cricket if anyone had any issues with the phone I was told no that the phone had a clean record. I swear and then I call to complain and they offer to help me for a 200 dollar charge plus the shipping fee for both the new and old phone. I'm very disappointed.

  • It goes in the same slot that your son card goes

  • There is a slot in the side of your phone same place where sim card is. Using your little key that came with your phone or a safety pin you can remove the slot

  • Bought ZTE grand Max 2 and a 32 gig micro SD card and can't find the slot to out it in can any one help

  • Why is my battery dropping so quickly

  • Same here. My husband and I both bought these phones and they both lag, stop, or won't play videos, specifically on facebook. The first 2 we bought, we had them exchanged before our 7 days were up because they kept turning off and one day at 3 days new, it just would not stay on. Exchanged them but same with these as far as video not playing. Can't stand this issue. Have never had a problem with any phone and this is our first time with cricket. Sucks and we can't do anything about it.

  • Where do you download adobe from on the grandmax 2

  • My phone used to work great. Lately my Messaging service is constantly crashing. I've had problems with the internet, where web pages wouldn't load and I had connection issues, even at home on my own wifi. The recent problem is the damn bluetooth. It used to work great. Now I have to constantly reset it. My Fitbit hasn't synced in over two weeks. This phone was really good when I first bought it. It's about a year old and now it just sucks.

  • I was reading through this trying to figure it out why the vids won't play. I went to another site and people said download adobe flash player and I did and it seems to be working yay!

  • Ive had mine for two months now. Hasn't been mistreated or anything like that. I have factory reset it twice because it turns off and won't turn back on. I've noticed its every 20 or 25 days it does that. ZTE phones are crap

  • I have had mine for about five months, I love it, it works great. i never mistreat my phones, therefore I keep my phones in great shape. This is one of the best phones that I have owned in my lifetime.

  • Mine works perfectly. Absolutely no problems. A great phone for the money!

  • I loved my ZTE grand X Max but the screen cracked so I thought I would update to this ZTE grand X max2. I agree with everyone here it is a total piece of junk. When on WiFi it doesn't download web pages or videos. It works better without wifi which is ridiculous. The Bluetooth hardly ever lines up with my car automatically like my old one used to. Everything is just slow slow slow on this phone it's terrible

  • So does mine how do I fix it

  • I call bs

  • Did you try the on board device unlock feature? Most carriers now will unlock the phone after about 60 days though T-Mobile made me wait 90 days on my last LG phone.

  • The biggest problem I have is after awhile the charger port has issues until it doesn't charge at all. Other then that I love this phone. This is my 4th ZTE Grand Max X. A few were replaced due to water damage and the other one because of the charger port and now the one I'm using is having charging issues.

  • It won't play videos if you have other apps open in the background, unfortunately. I close all my background apps before open facebook or ig to look at videos, then they'll play smooth.

  • I like everything about this phone thats shy i need the unlock code so i can use it with my new provider kinda stupid its locked when it's paid in full

  • having the same issues. Just did a warranty exchange from a grand max x...it was dropping outgoing calls and the charger port seemed to be shorting. I just received my phone and am within the first 7 days....wondering what cricket will do since it is a warranty exchange. have not sent my grand max x back yet. maybe I should keep it.. the bluetooth is irritating. the fb videos is irritating.

  • I've never been so disappointed with a new phone. It truly is a piece of junk. Speaker is pathetic, loads images and videos in slow motion, slippery and hard as hell to hold, cell reception is very poor compared to other phones. And even the touchscreen is somewhat unresponsive. Big screen and that's all It is a fraud.

  • Same thing happens with mine. Doesn't play videos, freezes up, has a hard time connecting to WiFi, and sometimes when I go to tap on an app on my home page, it pops up with a completely different one. Nice and good looking phone, but i'm taking it back.

  • The left bottom speaker is a dummy speaker and is not supposed to work

  • My ZTE grand max 2 won't play videos on the facebook, and instagram app. It doesn't play videos from fb on the web browser. I just got this phone for Christmas and love it. I'd hate to have to switch and get another phone. But how do I fix this issue with the phone?

  • Did you find a fix? Mine is doing the same.

  • Same thing happened to me hold the up volume button and the power button at the same time and when the android screen pops up go to clear cache and when it finishes hit reboot phone

  • If you've had problems with videos skipping to the end on Facebook, DO NOT return the phone. Simply go to your apps, Facebook, and clear cache. Works like a charm. My only complaint is that even with full signal this phone downloads slower than my last one, much slower. That and if I'm playing music over Bluetooth and get a call, the music resumes during the call.

  • I bought mine a week ago and this phone turn off yesterday and it doesnt want to turn on again

  • Left speaker is the microphone and the right is the speaker

  • Sorry, im afraid to say mine works exelent.....

  • This phone has a great screen, and is very smooth. It does have some problems. If you want to listen to music or videos on Bluetooth it is very annoying because of the back round hiss.I've tried using different headphones but they all have the hiss. My cheap 50 dollar phone has no hiss when using it. The other thing is that you can't download to the SD card. I'm going to try to make the SD card internal storage and see if that works. Other than those couple things it's a great phone.

  • This phone is horrible. It freezes on a regular basis. It rarely plays videos on social media, whether I'm connected to Wi-Fi or not. It has terrible processor speed. The camera is always blurry. Just a piece of garbage, that I wasted 200 bucks on.

  • I just got mine yesterday and I'm having the same problem. Literally this phone is perfect except for this video problem😭it's a shame I'll have to take it back

  • I have the same problem with YouTube videos and Facebook videos freezing and not playing. And my head phone jack hardly works I have to restart my phone multiple times just to get it to work. I'm started to hate this phone alot.

  • Mine is doing the same thing and I cannot figure out on how to get it to load or let me log in.

  • This phone has some problem with playing videos, just had an update, that didn't fix anything. And one of the bottom speakers doesn't work. Horrible phone. I've taken great care of it, had it for a month, never dropped it, have it in a case and glass screen protector. What a waste of money because I'm just going to return it.

  • My phone does the same i thought it was just me. Does anyone know if both of the speakers (at the bottom) are supposed to work or is one the speaker and the other for when you talk?

  • my phone wont trun on and when it dose it wont go to my home screen it stays in the creket screen why dose it do nthat and how do i fix it

  • I have the same problem the videos just skip to the end I called zte and they wanted me to send my phone in does anyone know of how to fix the problem without me having to send it back to the factory?

  • Same problem, Facebook videos just skip and whenever I have the Facebook app open and try to watch YouTube it does the same

  • I gave the same issues have you found a fix?

  • my phone screen went black I can turn it on and it work but not the screen

  • I thought I was alone with this problem. It's very irritating.

  • My videos won't play skip right to the end sent phone back once for this problem and it's still doing it

  • Videos don't play, It's freezing up, I wish I would not have bought 2 of these phones as my Lady hates hers as well! It was a cheap buy to make them a quick buck knowing the phone is trash!

  • My videos don't play and if they do they skip to the end of the video.

  • The carrier's are required to offer a replacement inside of 7 days for this wireless provider. They likely won't do it without a receipt, but even non corporate stores have to do this for the wireless provider that sells this phone.

  • I have Cricket and was using an ATT Note 3 until I broke it. I needed a phone and didn't want to wait for shipping and finding a decently priced Note on Ebay, well I decided to go with this phone, my own fault for not reading reviews and doing proper research. It was an impulse, I needed something, and it had a nice large screen, which it is very nice. I have 2 major gripes with this phone, which isn't many, but enough that I have recently bought a new phone, and this one I will give to my girlfriend that has a Moto G2, so an upgrade for her. #1. There's no way to shut the start up jingle off. This is a MAJOR issue because of #2. The phone has to be rebooted EVERY DAY, every 18-24 hours. I have never had a phone that needed this. If you don't, apps will just stop and then never work again, and if you try to open a new app, it will not open. So for example, I use SKYPE very heavilly, if I don't reboot the phone and I don't know that the system has hung. The UI and system WILL be active, and will respond, just apps won't open or function. So the phone will seem fine, but no Skype messages will be coming through. So then I have to reboot, which brings me back to issue #1. The jingle cannot be turned off, muted, or volume decreased, so it's very distracting to people around me when I have to do it, and I try to muffle the sound as much as possible. When at work, I wrap it in a sweatshirt and toss it in a file cabinet until it's done. Overall, it's a nice phone aesthetically, I like the idea of the large phone, however it fails in every day application, which in this day and age, there's no excuse for that.

  • My ZTE grand x max 2 won't play videos either skips to the end and phone just shuts off and comes back on even when I'm doing something wish I would have never bought this phone

  • This phone is a total waste of money! The Bluetooth issues are insane, it drops connection when I'm on the headset (have tried 4 of them) the sync system in the car is a connection disaster and the x link in my office Bluetooth works when it wants to. The camera blurs everything after its inserted into text. The phone signal is terrible (no problems with any other phones) as it drops calls constantly. It restarts by itself all the time with no strain on the processor. The factory keyboard is a joke. Battery life is funny compared to my other ZTE phones. The list goes on. Personally guys I don't think an update is going to do anything for poorly used parts. And if they even tried to have customer service an update would have already been out. I got a warranty exchange due to all the problems I was having and the "new one" was exactly the same after a few days of use. I cant figure out why there are not more complaints about this device unless people are staying away from it or just replacing it and not commenting. I replaced mine with the One Plus 3 and it is better but Bluetooth issues still sometime come up. Beware I think the Chinese must use a different type of Bluetooth than others! This will probably make me look at different manufacturers when this new phone is dead! What a SHAME I really like my fist ZTE products a lot........good luck :)

  • I bought mine for months ago. And in that for months I have regretted every penny I spent on this phone. The camera cannot focus easily unless you have it attached to a camera stand. The Bluetooth keeps having problems. Application memory keeps getting wiped off and the list goes on and on. We all agree this is a cheap phone but you would want to believe ZTE has a reputation to uphold but in this case that's crap. Every last one of their phones I have read comments on they have refused to put out updates which means they only care about selling and making money not the customers or a good name on their products. If all these complaints I put forward on all their models and they cannot take a day to put out updates for the iPhone I wonder why AT&T and Cricket Wireless and other companies are dealing with them. Even the cheapest Chinese phone get updates. There is no quality control no customer service ZTE. Everytime I call their customer service on my problem all they make me do is wipe my phone and restart all over again but that never gets the problem out. If Only They would just write one update to fix some of these problems.

  • I'm having an issue with the screen locking resetting. I'll set it to lock the screen at 1 min of no activity, and if I press the power button it locks. Those setting last for a while (I'm talking hours), then all of a sudden the phone reverts back to the default, which is locking after 1 hour of inactivity, and the power button doesn't lock the phone. Anyone else with this issue? Other than that, I don't mind the phone at all. Not quite as many bells and whistles as Galaxy or iPhone, but I didn't expect that going in. I do like the fact that there aren't nearly as many proprietary programs preloaded on the phone. Samsung and Apple take 25% of your storage away with useless apps that no one uses.

  • I have same problem with my ZTE grand Xmas Max 2 have find a fix for it also I can't use google at first I thought it was because I ran out of gbs but it still doing the same thing even when I use Wi-Fi it just start loading but never do

  • Mines does the same thing.....and I have a ton of Bluetooth issues....

  • I can't get my powerschool app to work just keeps saying server error. So frustrated.

  • Mine has stopped charging after only 3 months

  • Video will not load just skips to the end junk

  • I would try playing with the key board. The one that come with the phone is really fancy or down load google key board.. That one has basic options and maybe more familiar for you to use. But really? Holding the keys to get function that a flip phone did? Lol

  • My phone was doing the same thing a week ago while I was at work... I then realized after it rebooted itself on the 4th time that I had set it down with the toggles touching my clip board... As soon as I turned the phone 180 degrees..... Issues resolved... My phone has not rebooted again. The only issues I have had is with the my Wed browser freezing every now and then... Other then that it runs perfectly...

  • Does anyone have a problem when this phone resets by itself cause I do and I don't know what to do

  • This Phone is junk! ZTE Grand max 2. Battery Drain to quickly, bad camera, video won't play. Dont buy this phone!

  • Learn the keyboard it is very easy

  • The phone has some great features. The keyboard is miserable. To get an ! $ %, or any type symbol you have to hold the appropriate key like with the old flip phone trying to text using a key as much as 5 times can really slow down texting, etc.

  • I am having an issue with all my calls going to voicemail - anyone know how to change this?

  • After only 4 days mine has stopped charging..... Worst investment I've made! $200 gone to the trash!

  • I'm having the same issue with my phone other than that it works perfectly fine.

  • When it works, it's great--however it tends to start up apps without my permission and turn off app notifications at random, and I have no idea why or how to fix the problem. :/

  • I have been having a problem with the audio/video synchronization. The audio lags behind the video by a considerable amount. I am wondering if they will patch it soon with the new Android update. Does anyone else have this problem?

  • it's OS bug... it will be fixed in update or you can try hard reset... but do backup first couse hard reset will delete all your files :)

  • I'm having that problem but only when I'm watching videos on Facebook.

  • I'm having the same problem. Did you have any luck finding out what it is

  • I have had my phone for over a week now and have absolutely no issues or problems with my Grand Maxx 2! I replaced my Moto Droid turbo with and have to say... I was sceptical but now I am totally happy with my change. I get good reception, no blue tooth issues, takes good pics and my battery last a 1 1/2 days with light usage.. location is on, data and sync.. I wish I would have gotten one like this before I got my Droid turbo only to have save 300.00 bucks in price... Oh I am on Cricket, unlimited data, text, calls for 65.00 a month.. better then big red at 4 gigs, calls, text at 68.00 bucks a month! Totally satisfiedd or I just lucky.. lol

  • There is nothing but bad reviews on the grandmax 2. I Wish I would of read them before getting mine. Figured cricket would do better with the second version but they not only dropped the ball, they wrapped it in explosive filled fecies. I hoped they would patch it or something, but not happening. They just came out with a 3

  • Does your videos just skip to the end of the video?? That's what problem I'm having I can't watch a video just because it skips to the end then does not load when I want to restart

  • Go with the stylo 2, I have the first stylo and love it. I have had it over a year now and it does lag, I'll be getting the stylo 2..

  • My toaster would get better reception indoors. Most annoying phone I've had so far. It also tends to slip out of your hand all the time because it's made out of very cheap plastic. However, for the price, you're not likely to get a phone with a better screen res or CPU...

  • Love my Alcatel idol 3 5.5, just get a case cause my screen cracked from tight pants, but I've a case now.

  • I have had my phone for a little over 4 days and I use my Bluetooth Evey day and it's very choppy goes in and out and will aboslutly will not work if I'm at lease 2feet away and the screen rotation doesn't always work properly and key board doesn't always appear when needed to type or text...... GREAT LOOKING PHONE BUT HAS MANY ISSUES MOST DEFINITELY USING AS A BACK UP PHONE.... The ZTE Grand Max plus is a far much better phone I had it and my screen broke insurance replaced it with this and called it a upgrade ...I don't think so CAUTION BLUETOOTH DOESNT WORK NOT EVEN LONG ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO ON WHOLE SONG IM USING BRAND NEW POWER BEATS ITS CLEARLY THE PHONE .....YOUV BEEN WARNED BLUETOOH USERS.

  • Just got mine last week went 2 days without charging, stoked. Former note 3 user..

  • MetroPCS has the ZTE ZMAX PRO and it is 32GB internal and can do Pokemon Go AR plus it has the Fingerprint reader and its a Metro Only release device

  • My battery is awful and videos won't play all the time. Charging to a "full" battery only takes about 45 mins, but the battery drains just as quickly. I miss my original grand x max

  • Can it play Pokemon GO?

  • I'm having the same problem just bought phone yesterday

  • With blue tooth you need to make sure the bluetooth versions match as the marshmallow 6.0.1 uses version 4.1 if the version is less on the device you are trying to connect you may need to get it updated or replaced.

  • I had the ZTE Grand Max and now have the Grand Max 2. I had to buy a new phone because after a year the charging port on my Grand Max stopped working. The charger on my Grand Max 2 has not stopped working after only a little over a month. I have never had this problem with a phone before and I'm so frustrated. Really like the phone but not the charging ports.

  • Are you able to connect to your car's Bluetooth? I just bought the max 2 today and when trying to pair it says connected but it's not

  • Thanks for your post. I am currently looking at the LG Stylo 2, The ZTE Grand X Max 2, and the Alcatel. I would love to have either for the camera. I take a lot of pictures. Which do you think is best out of the LG Stylo 2 and the ZTE? We are having trouble with my daughter's LG phone saving things on the SD card. I was told by a cricket person at my location that is a common thing with LG. I was leaning toward the LG because of the storage, and camera, but now am unsure. If you think neither, and would go with another phone, which would you recommend?

  • I have noticed the same thing. I switched back to my ZTE grand Max+, it's a drop off at least it works. I thought my Idol 3 was defective or something. I'm buying the ZTE Max 2: Cricket just dropped the price to $169.00

  • I have a ZTE Grand X Max 2. I hate mine. Only had mine less than 2 months. The phone freezes up and does other things that I can't explain the battery will not stay charged. I charge it and it goes down. They are prone to viruses also. I had to call for help and they had me to do a factory restore twice because of the issues going on with mine. I would not recommend any one buy this phone. It's a waste of money.

  • The Idol 3 and Grand X Max 2 do not have the same cpu processor. The Idol 3 is running last gens Snapdragon 615 while the Max 2 has Qualcomm's newest mid range SOC, the Snapdragon 617. I have both phones as I carry the Zte while my wife carries the Idol 3. There is a very very noticeable difference in how these two phones perform. The Alcatel is the most delayed response and leggy phone that I have ever seen while the Max 2 is smooth sailing most all the time. The 617 is superior to the 615 although some of the performance difference in these two phones could be chalked up to better optimization on ZTEs part. Trust me when I say there is a vast difference in the way these two perform on a day to day basis. The Idol 3 does have the better camera, hardware and software, and consistently produces better than good pics and the speakers in the Idol 3 are the best I've seen as of yet.

  • Videos freeze on facebook. I have to click an back out let 5 times or more until it works and like u said the audio didn't match up most the time on FB or YouTube.

  • When you say Facebook video issues, what do you mean? I am about to send mine off for similar problems. So far the only problems I have encountered are the sound doesn't match with the video and more than not my Facebook videos freeze. I really hope the issue can be resolved because other than that the phone is great.

  • Facebook video, Bluetooth, and screen rotation issues and this is my second one. Had first one replaced thinking it was just that phone but no. An cricket takes 25 bucks for a return fee so u get 175 back an u still get charged to activate a new phone LOL so I'm stuck with this hoping updates can fix everything wrong with it. On the plus sides...um great camera, runs smooth not done any gaming yet so no input there. Love the battery life an quick charge. But often current issues can't be fixed with updates it's not worth it

  • Yes I'm having problems. It's horrible.

  • My bluetooth works fine

  • I absolutely love this phone. The metallic paint is gorgeous, it has a very nice screen, and the thin design makes it feels great and not-so-big in the hand. It's got a 6 inch display, octo-core processor, USB Type C, QuickCharge, and the rest, well, it is what it is. It's sleek, stylish, and fast. Get it.

  • Yes it is terrible choppy and cuts out. I use Bluetooth every day and I'm pissed I paid $200 for this phone for this to happen.

  • The Alcatel is crap. Looks great on paper.. And feels good in your hand the first time you hold it. Build quality sucks. I'm a manager of a cricket store..weve dealt with tons of broken Alcatels usually in the first weeks or months. The plastic fake metal chips.. The screen isnt tempered and the phone is pretty platicky upon close inspection. The zte though not flawless is a much better phone. Better build quality. Better screen.. Newest android. And sure to last over a year.. Unlike the Alcatel. Owner both ZTE Grand X Max + and new ZTE X Max 2

  • The idol 3 has the same specs but is 5.5inch(401ppi) and is easier to hold, has loud jbl front (1.5watts) speakers and a 8mp inner camera. The zte has bigger screen(361ppi), weaker 5mp inner cam and slightly better android. Idol 3 sounds like a win. Both 8 core Both 1080p Both 16gb Both 2gb ram

  • Idol 3 has the same processor and ram as the z max 2

  • I'm really thinking about buying one too. Because I'm using Idol 3 clearly under powered. I have a ZTE Grand Max+ the screen and camera wasn't that good to me. Here to the upgrade to the MAX2.

  • Just bought this an love it but is anyone else having issues with the Bluetooth?

  • Can you check to see if you can go live on Facebook?

  • I think I could :)

  • ZTE has quietly been producing phones with flagship quality specs and performance for budget friendly prices for awhile now. This is the predecessor to the Grand X Max +, which I own as well, and is also a great phone and an immense value. On top of the phone being a delight to use it really helps make Cricket a worthwhile carrier to consider as you can have higher end phones and service for half of the price all across the board. The 1920x1080 screen while not an AMOLED screen, still gives a a beautiful display and is a delight to use and view. The octacore processor gives you a snappy response when using the device and can take pretty much anything you can throw at it. The battery if used carefully with the right settings can easily last 2 days between charges, even with powering such a large screen and features included in this device. The camera takes beautiful shots and the camera app is packed with many features including professional grade settings that photographers will surely appreciate and make use of, but also has simpler settings that makes the camera a blast even for the casual user. The biggest complaint if any is the fact that while they upgraded every aspect of the phone including the battery from the Grand X Max+, they opted to keep the RAM on this phone at 2GB, which while respectable doesn't keep up with many of the higher priced flagship competitors. But to be honest for with 90% of the users will be using this phone for, there really isn't an noticeable issues with this. It still performs like a high end phone, which I personally consider this phone to be. In conclusion this phone embodies the phrase "have your cake and eat it to" as it gives the consumer a flagship phone performance, for a price tag that almost anyone can make work in their budget (in fact I bought 2 of my Max+'s, as its cheaper to have an additional phone at your disposal if an issue arises than it is pumping $10 plus each month then a wait time to receive an insurance device). There is a change happening in the mobile tech world in products and their respected pricing, and the consumer is winning because of it, and this phone is a perfect example of that!

  • I wonder if u can go live in Facebook

  • A beast of a phone in a not so expensiev package! Everyone knows the samsung galaxy line, including their powerful note series. But with the new Zte grand x max 2 (thats a mouthful) the tables have turned. This phone comes in a respectable $199.99 and packs alot of punch. I swapped out my galaxy note 3 for this device, and i have never been happier with that decision. Sure there are a few features that I'm lacking (IR blaster, S-pen) but that doesnt effect my love for this device. The dual camera setup on the back work s fantastically outside and for dual exposure photos, the front camera is very nice with its 5mp shooter. The device is snappy, and accepts up to 128gb sd cards, despite what every site says (64gb being the specified cap) and the sd card works wonders with the 128gb of storage. Sound is excellent on this device, and the screen is clear and crisp. I have had a few issues with bluetooth connectivity but that could be several things, my device, a software issue, or the bluetooth device im trying to set up. All in all, I say this device is very solid and worth the price they are asking. It feels more premium than a $200 device, that being said I dont regret grabbing this device!!

  • Nice Phone From ZTE if white or black colours

  • Nice phone if white or green
