Bought this for 120 Swiss Francs in Zurich when my old smartphone was soaked in a sudden storm. Nice phone, did me until the next phone hit, and then was with my girlfriend until the battery started to go and the microphone started to play up. Quality phone but it would have been better if there had been more updates considering it's Acer, not some shoddy phone company. It's still in great condition externally despite the faults mentioned.

I have this phone for some years now, but thinking of replacing it soon. It is a nice phone, it makes good pictures/videos, browsing the net is fast, games run smoothly, etc. But I have also encountered some cons. The battery, while it is 4000mAh, can drain fast depending on what you do, the back of the phone heats up on heavy usage which can be annoying to touch. And I also had moments when I left the phone idle, it went from 70% down to 10% in an instant, sometimes completely empty and turned off, and when I tried to charge it after that, the percentage stayed at 1%, or changed to 10 and 11 whenever I took the battery out and back. Other nuisance is when it freezes randomly or starts lagging, I always have to use Avast to free up some RAM size. One time my phone froze completely while I tried to update some apps from the Play Store, I tried restarting, it didn't react, then took out/back the battery, but doing this managed to corrupt my SD card completely.

like everyone else my power buttons broke, it drains so fast, randomly crashes, now it has problem charging due to faulty charging port. this phone is so frustrating af i wont recommend it to anyone. buy something else

I'm Abdul from Morocc. I bought this phone, after 4 months when I visited a hot place ( Sahara) 46 °c after few hours the battery gone. I tried to charge it again but it doesn't work. I searched for it on all corners of Morocco but I didn't find it, fortunately I found another battery which fits this Acer z630. The battery of this phone is good by this 4000 Am but anyone using this phone has to be careful about the heat, the battery is sensible about this. I think that the ingeneers of the battery they didn't hear in mind that this type of phone will reach hot countries like mine.

Drain your battery, do this by letting it battery empty, then, turn it on. When u see a small power remains in the battery let it drain again. Do this again and again until u did not see any power left in the battery. Then , charge it using a SLOW CHARGER.

Thought I am the only one having the said issue. Charging is a pain. It indicates charging status but it isn't charging at all! I've been charging it since 7 am this morning but it's already past 2 in the afternoon and it is still at 1%.

It may not be the best for gaming, but, it's 80% capable. I was able to play Asphalt 8 with max settings on using my Acer Z630. (With minor frame drops, of course) almost every game is almost smooth. Just keep the graphics between low medium or above medium. I do not recommend max settings.

Have you tried changing your USB cable? I encountered this charging problem on my Z630 as well and turned out, my usb cable was faulty. Why not give it a try, let me know the results. 😁

I actually have the same issues that you guys have about acer. I have acer t03 1. The battery really drain sooo fast 2. Malfunction of the power button 3. Over-heating on the upper back of the phone 4. Vulnerable usb port (unlike Samsung) 5. Camera defect (rear camera is not working/upside-down image on the front camera) Better to buy another model. Seems that roughly after a year mine is doing the same now (though I am not a heavy user at all). The upper back easily heats up even when it is just on stand-by while charging. Though the heat does not get to an alarming temp, it's just noticeable. The power button no longer works the same and I've recently had to use a power-to-volume app. One more thing I have noticed recently is that it will sometimes become unresponsive to the point that I have had to reboot the device. But it does not restart at all, I've had to remove and insert the battery to get it back up. Overall, it was a good phone but it just did not last as expected. And yeah, no update to nougat...bummer.

I have an Acer liquid z630 it's good for gaming,i have played several games like NBA 2k16 ,NBA 2k17,GTA SA and GTA LCS without any lag but the phone gets really hot after 15 minutes or 30 minutes of play.The only problem I had was my phone's lock/unlock button is a bit broken so I had to press the top part of the button to unlock it.The center and bottom part of the button is broken.There's no support for this phone it can even run Marshmallow but the developers didn't even bother making an update.

I have an acer T012. I HATE this phone with a passion! I have never seen so many ads pop up, even with ad block software! It automatically loaded "outlook", forcing me to use it (I would rather just login to hotmail). The # pad, even on large font, is so small, you have to enter pin # 4 or 5 times to log into anything! The memory is supposed to be expandable, but file manager will not recognise the new SD card. The internal memory is so small it is practically useless! I would go on, but I have to retype and retype these comments on the tiny little keypad! I WOUKD NEVER BUY AN ACER PRODUCT AGAIN!

Based on my experience using this phone with 16gb SD card, when I play games like need for speed, GTA, Minecraft PE, etc. I seen the screen lagged but just a second but not always( just sometimes when I'm using multitask too much using heavy data draining apps), and i think this phone is powerful enough to handle those kind of games or apps. so yeah do you still want it?

Are you new on using android device?, It's easy! just open the File manager app, open the location from where you want to create the new folder-press the folder with the + sign, then find your photos hold the photo/s you wanted to move then click the scissor sign to cut/move it (if you want to move the photo/s press the papers sign, then find the new folder you've just created, press the papers button again to paste (the buttons are underneath) then BAM Finished! :D

Very good phone. I don't use it a lot -just email and light browsing -battery lasts 4 days and left about 20% after. Never noticed it was hot. GPS works normally. Btw I bought it referbished for $150 cad. Comparing to samsung g3 which I had before and which was like oven in my pocket, this phone is way better.

-The phone is not good for gaming. The phone heats up a lot (it burns to put the phone to your face) after about 2 hours of light gaming using data. The phone sometimes lags when I play games too. Haven't experienced any crashing so far. -The battery on the phone is supposed to be 4000mAh, but it lasts about 4 hours with intense gaming using mobile data. I would not suggest the Acer Z630.

I've had too many problems with this phone. Even after doing a factory reset 5 times, the phone would still freeze, the data would randomly turn on, and sometimes the touchscreen would even stop working. Eventually, I sent the phone to the Acer Repair Center. The software on the phone was "repaired". It's been a week after the repair, and some apps still randomly crash. I'm just tired of dealing with this phone.

GPS is a real problem. I extensively use GPS while driving travelling. GPS is not able to identify precisely and show location mismatch up to 20 mts..thus. while I m on one side of the road..it shows on other side and catches wrong road direction to drive..

What do you mean by "double tap"? If you mean like a wake-up feature, it has a function under gestures to wake up the phone by swiping up on the screen with a single finger.

There phone itself is decent enough. It's sound isn't the clearest though. I mean it's a bit buzzy especially when the volume gets louder. There video isn't that clear too. But I guess the biggest reason why I regret buying this phone (Acer Z630) is Acer itself. It doesn't seem to have any plans of upgrading Z630 to Marshmallow. I mean, they've already released 6.0 upgrade to Z630s, but not Z630. For me, it's a waste of money to buy this. I'm never buying any Acer product again.

Yes you can download any of that apps. No problem on my acer z630. The BEST MTK phone I ever had. Some minor issue though, sometimes the phone gets Very HOT when using data connection. Over all it's a GOOD PHONE. 2 days batt life normal usage like wifi,data,fb,youtube,call,mesg.

Hi Guys, just want to share my experience on this phone.. I just bought this last August 19, as a birthday gift for my self. But after a week only, i have encountered abnormal experience like giving false battery reading (battery stayed at 100% for a long period and will suddenly went off because te battery was drained already) and its taking a lot of time moving your apps and uninstalling(writing speed is too slow). Additional, this phone average charging time is from 4-5 hours.. so you need to put it on the outlet before sleeping so that when you wake up, the phone is charged. ;)

If you're referring to the "camera shutter sound".. There's no option to turn if off, however, you can put your phone in "vibrate only" mode so that there will be no sound when you take a picture.

Make sure to do the update. If you havent already had the popup, go into settings under about phone>>software update. That should help. Mine was a second Costco phone too. Update wasnt out when i bought the first one, though.

It over heat when you use data at the same time you charge the phone while browsing in Facebook. And when your place is so hot this device adopt the temperature if hot. It also become over heated. Again when only u use it simultaneously the data, charging, facebook,and charging ur phone. But don't worry Acer have pop up message when it reach the maximum heat. So that the best use is to remove the battery for at least 5-10 mins. I think that is advantage of removable battery. In terms of using wifi it's only consumed little on battery but if you use data. The battery is more x2 consumed than data.

Not sure what the problem encountered by others were, but my user experience has been great so far. The only legit problem I had was with the silver Acer sign at the back which did not last long. I opted to take it off altogether, and it looked fine anyway. Generally speaking this phone has worked well for me! Being a heavy user, it kept up. Mind you, I have loads of apps installed, and haven't experienced crashes, hangs, or any of the sort. Might have overused the power button though, it's kinda hard to press it now, but I think that's more of my fault really. I'm a clutz, this phone has survived multiple drops (major ones, heavily scratched now), and got it wet a few times.

Got this dual sim phone from Costco Canada for $199. Performance has been great. Very impressed with the battery life, have never ran out of power even with heavy use: Bluetooth link, streaming music, GPS getting direction. I bought the phone because I needed a dual sim phone and this works great on both Rogers and Wind mobile. The phone seems a little heavy and the back cover slightly slippery but I have been happy with it. Would really like to know if this will get the Marshmallow update as the Doze function will really prolong the already long battery life.

Evidently, Android's support for fonts is poor enough, but I can not get this phone to display ANY serif phone even when the webpage specifically calls for a Serif font, or a ePub book is in a serif font. All I get is the default sans-serif font. I know "Driod Serif" exists, but this phone doesn't seem to support it. I also see no OpenType or True Type options for basic Times Roman. What's the deal?

My storage drains to 0 in a bit less then a month every time I reset it. Also my battery drains very quickly when brightness display is decent and wifi is on (battery last 3-5 hours) which is a bit disappointing for a 4000MaH battery. To all the people who have problems with this product of Acer, Liquid Z630 is actually a very good choice for a budget phone. I also had many problems with this model before. A few days later, I decided to chat with Acer's technical support. It was all because of the online chats with Acer, I returned the phone and get another one of the same model. Now the Z630 I have is working like a charm, the only problem is that the free storage capacity dropped by nearly 2 gb for no obvious reasons. The phone is okay as a matter of fact, it was all because of my back luck when I bought it the first time. Here are the problems I had with the first one: Battery draining fast even without being online. Rapid loss of Gbs of storage space loss and unrecoverable even without being online, the free space even dropped to 650 mb only in an extreme case. Extremely slow process of app removal. The "Apps" of the Acer Aid Kit won't load. And terribly slow "Storage"info. loading of the Acer Aid Kit. Actually there was something interesting about the battery usage of this phone, I had a few times the battery level was at 100% for over 12 hours.

All i did was power up the phone and a pop up showed up telling me the update was available. I bought this phone in Canada, so the update was specifically to address problems with units sold here. Mainly at Costco and Walmart. If you bought your phone elsewhere, all i can suggest is to go to about device in settings>software update and see if an update is available in your region. Good luck!

hi may i know what is your unit?,if your unit is acer z630,then just simply flash stock firmware of it,go to google and search how to flash firmware on acer z630 xda developer gives solutin for that matter and thats what i did i counter problems like bootloop or stuck on set up and even no stock o.s,so i just follow the instructions and i got my phone back to normal.i hope it helps a lot,.tnx

Just picked up one yesterday. I had bought one earlier for my wife and it was a disaster. Laggy, hot, major battery drain and had the dreaded Amazon app issue that would constantly reload itself and eat up your memory. I went to the Acer community forum and kept an eye on the issue. About 3 weeks ago a technician had said there was an update available, so I decided to try again, since my daughter also needed a new phone. This was after I bought my wife an Asus Zen fine Laser 2, by the way. A fine phone, I must say! So, take 2. So far, so good. No heat, no lagging, and i was able to delete the offensive app and a few more while I was at it. This update has finally revealed this phone to be a really cheap, great phone. I, now, would highly recommend it. For $200 CDN,you can't go wrong.😀

I would add that I personally use a Huawei Mate 2. And I am very impressed by that phone's huge screen and super long battery life. I saw the Acer Z630 in Costco and the specs looks similar. That's why I recommended it to my friend. The Acer Z630, released 2015 September, is a total garbage when compared to the Huawei Mate 2 from January 2014. I am guessing most of the problems (battery drain, storage drain from Amazon App, etc) are from bad software and bad programming. I hope that future firmware updates will fix these major issues. But really this is no excuse. Acer is a respected producer of laptop for years. I personally use a Acer laptop. So the Z630 has been very disappointing. If Acer is serious about entering the cellphone market, they must do a much better job at product testing before production and release. I mean Jesus dudes did you guys even test this thing? I like to help smaller guys (such as Motorola) against the big name giants but come on put in more effort! Acer's name is tainted for me and many others (as you can read in the comments).

My friend that bought the phone for has refunded it. At the end the battery drains way too fast and there is no way to fix it. I do not know what Acer was running in their OS. But whatever they are they just burn through that 4,000mAh battery

Yes it does. A 32GB microSD cards works no problem. I wonder if it supports bigger microSD cards. Be sure to turn off those advance wifi settings, like wifi on even when phone on. Drains power like crazy. Update to the latest firmware. Helps battery a bit. Either way battery life isn't as good as the 4,000mha would suggest. Amazon app keeps taking up storage space. Latest firmware seems to have fixed that? Else manually delete Amazon app every time you turn on your phone.

Hi Assuming there is a LTE signal in your area, check the handset settings whether the LTE is enabled or not. Still no LTE access? Check LTE bands of your network and compare them with those that your phone supports (they should be listed on the phone packaging). Hope this help

2 software updates solved low/poor audio... now, even when volume is set to only 20-30% the sound output is loud enough (for my taste) with the right mix of treble and bass via its DTS settings... completely satisfied for a music lover like me! 4% of its battery would drop during in an 8-hour sleep, fairly enough vs the likes of my old Zenfone 5 where the battery would drop average of 12% considering all apps running apps were closed/killed before hitting the bed... magnificent stuff Acer for putting a massive 4000-mAh battery with the phone still looking sleek and elegant not compromising its design and aesthetics Screen display is just a thing of beauty, colors seem to pop-out very excellent viewing angles even when screen brightness is set to 40%... good job ACER for having a BLUE LIGHT SHIELD technology where we can dim the screen whilst using the handset avoiding eye strain... not to forget the QUICK LAUNCH or Acer's equivalent to having screen on/off gestures thus avoiding the use of the power button keeping it crisp and tactile during the course of our usage... what I believe Acer missed is having a double tap to sleep the screen which is a very "minor" nitpick for me but setting the display to sleep in like 30secs gets the job done for the price of 6990 Php (Philippines) this is indeed a very good every day phone, I almost went for the Alcatel Flash Plus (did not to after reading reviews it has bugs after the Lolli update) and Huawei 4C (which I find the screen size a bit small for my taste and having a BIGGER battery for having a handset as a daily driver would all lead to Acer's Z630)... for one bit, I thought of getting the Z530 for 1000 Php less, but with the shop's very catchy sales strategy, I got convinced to go for the bigger brother (Z630) having a bigger screen and battery and they even threw a FREE 16-gb Sandisk MMC (would sell for 600 Php) so I think I got a good deal out of it :) my concerns now would be: (1) even the SCREEN DISPLAY is set to like 0% (lowest as in the lowest)... the screen would really go haywire (super bright) when I open the gallery to view pictures... I hope Acer can look into this and perhaps a software update fix for this will be available soon (2) I own a basic Acer Z200 phone (back up phone) and its default messaging app gives an option to change the chat wallpaper or sms background via the general settings... I just find the PLAIN WHITE background to be very boring to look at. Thought of using a 3rd party messaging app and will check which app is good or available in Playstore without needing to root the phone bang for the buck phone I'd say... surely worth your every penny... :)

on wifi/wlan connectivity, i've watched some online movies on this phone at 720p resolution, and i didn't experience any buffering at all. mobile data connection is also fast (using globe telecom). for those who really prefer a better camera, i suggest to not buy this phone. better shell out some extra cash for phones like- asus zenfone zoom i guess. or lenovo vibe shot. for me this z630 suits me well because of the battery life and quality loudspeaker that is very pleasant to hear when the phone rings or when listening to music.

yes the camera quality is not that great, but it's not that bad either. but for the price, we should not complain. they cut cost on the camera but in exchange, they put a huge battery and a very good loudspeaker. i have a lenovo phone that cost almost as twice as this z630 but the loudspeaker is crappy and noisy and kind of distorted specially when you turn the volume up. if only acer has quick charge then this will be my main phone and not my old lenovo.

this is my second post. upon days of using it- first i like the weight, not too light and not too heavy. it is a bit slippery on hand, i better buy a grippy case. the loudspeaker is very clear and loud. battery life is very good, but takes too long to charge, about 4 hours. you can barely feel the heat it generates when charging. user interface is better and has more features. camera is average. i also noticed it has a stronger cellular signal compared to my other phones.

Hello, Just making a follow-up on the review I started on the Acer Liquid Z630. I would like to commend the battery span of it, I unplugged the charger last 3:00 AM MNL and played online game (CoC), Facebook, IG, Downloaded Summoner war w/o any option enabled other than Wi-Fi and it took 6 hours (9:00 AM MNL) before it hits 99%. I would recommend this device for user who aggresively uses their device. It would be very beneficial for the users who doesn't need to charge the device from time to time.

bought this today at sm pampanga, philippines. i like the sound of the loudspeaker, it is very clear and also when using a decent headphone.. screen response is ok, but not very fast compared to my lenovo p70 and lumia 640xl.. it is surprisingly light considering it has 4k mah battery and a 5.5 inch screen... camera is a bit laggy. i will submit my post again after i have fully tested the phone.

Z630 is detachable battery. The battery life is good but it depends on how you use the phone. The camera is just average base on the price but in terms of performance base on my experience Z630 is much better compare to asus laser and lenovo A7000 without experience of lag and delay.

I've been using this phone for about a month now. the main reason why I bought this phone is the self proclaimed massive 4000mah batt capacity but even with just sms and phone calls (no wifi; no data at all) batt only lasts 24 hours and with WiFi and data lasts only about 8hours! Sheeeesh!

Yes it's true that the volume is slightly low but you can tune it up by adjusting it on the settings & go to SOUND. Hope that helps

I am using Lenovo a7000 for last few weeks and feeling am cheated... limited space.. 8gb 1/2 is full with the bogus vibe ui & os and rest are with bloat-wares... u can't move all apps to card... only a few ones.. and heats like anything.. u might wish to heat a bucket of water with this heat.... yes camera quality is good but not the best.. call quality is OK.. depends on signal... hangs a lot.... feeling cheated by lenovo.... :(

it is a job well done for Acer. However, one thing that makes it 9/10 is its audio. Can barely hear the ringtone as well as the sound when i watch movies. I hope Acer can do something about it.

Nice phone. Though the screen is in the warm side. Nice battey. Lasts a full day with data on. Still looking for tempered glass and a case though. No lags. One thing I noticed is the screen burn in. You can see it on the camera.

bought one from a local store for Php 2330 x3 months 0% interest. Would recommend to anyone specially to people who doesn't want the hassle of charging their phones during the day. So far I haven't experienced any lags or hiccups whatsoever during use/casual gaming and you need a decent set of headphones to enjoy your music. The loudspeaker is weak. Still, very good job Acer.
