I bought this Fonepad in June 2015 with high hope since the camera is 8 mp (you don't find other tab with this price range with such high camera resolution). It look nice, the screen is clear. I am really excited to have it. But it doesn't last long. After a month and a half, problem start emerging. the screen has ghost touch, but only occasionally. It become worse after I accidentally dropped it. the back case is so easy to open. I am shocked at the quality. Ghost touch become the main problem. After Update, it lag more often and every other problem emerge. Now, there are not even one shop that sell this tablet. I think this is just a trial for them, that why the quality is not their main concern.

My Asus phonepad's screen spontaneously cracked TWICE, ON IT'S OWN!!!! I probably sound crazy, trust me, I thought I was crazy too. So I bought this Asus tab right around October 2015, and it worked perfectly until June 2016 when I found a small crack on it, from nowhere!!, mind you, I have never dropped it, stepped on it, lie on it and I was living alone. I placed it carefully on my shelf and didn't touch it for two days, only to find a crack on it, and half the screen kept freezing, it bothered me for a while because I thought maybe somehow I must have mishandled it and caused the crack. Fast forward to September 2016, I was now mostly using the tab to hotspot because it had become almost useless because of the half dead side. One day as I was hotspoting, I picked it up to turn off the hotspot to my surprise there was an even bigger crack on the screen and the touchpad had become completely useless, what the hell?? Again, I did not drop it, sat on it or do anything that would cause the screen to crack, and, it turns out I'm I'm not crazy because I've seen similar complains about their tabs mysteriously cracking.

My Fonepad is 1 year and 2 months now. I don't have any problem with its glass and without screen protector, it looks brand new till now. The camera is good and clear. Themes and icons are nice. OS upgraded from Kitkat to Lollipop. The problem I am experiencing since I had it is that it's too laggy when playing COC. I uninstalled the game and change to the old Farmville and still very laggy. There is also issue with automatic shutdown even my battery is 95%. The speaker became weak and today I hear nothing except when I use earphones. I also experienced automatic clicking when I put on flip case with keyboard so I preferred using my Fonepad with no case at all. Automatic clicking was gone and can use the keypad very well. I thought Asus is nicer 'coz of its brand name but Kata i1 is better 'coz it lasted for four years and still looks brand new without screen protector. Only the battery became the problem. No available new batteries in their store because they phased out the model.

Disappointed, tablet is lag. Hope have the option to downgrade back to old os since lollipop not cpmpatible with this unit. Desfroys memory cards so better not use high capacity ones.will never buy asus brands now.

My LCD display broke down just after 5 months. It is noteworthy to mention that without any accident occurred with the TAB Asus Fonepad 7 FE171CG , its display got break down which is very costly to replace ie 8000 as per service centre estimatation. Its cost is even 10999 at the time of purchasing in june 2015. Kindly help me out if any solution to replace the display with less price ( can we use any duplicate display??). Thanks

the LCD screen is not durable.it cracks immediately after being dropped accidentally,and it's much more expensive to repair.The battery also runs down quickly.

Very disappointed gadget. First problem in first month shutdown suddenly although still 70%, plus ghost touch I am bring to service center for a month, they replace the LCD. And the problem is coming again ( ghost touch ), it's been 29 days in service center and still waiting for.a good news. Summary : bye bye asus, I am use apple and there is no problem until now. The lcd screen is not durable. I experienced ghost touch and yellowish colors. The LCD is made of glass which easily breaks and cracks when you accidentally drop the Fonepad. Spare parts for the lcd replacement is as expensive as the brand-new Fonepad itself.

I bought this unit in July, at day 1 I got backlight bleeding on the unit after hours of use, they replace it with a new one, then after a week with few apps the unit becomes laggy I did a factory reset, I experience hard touch and this ghost touch after a month then I saw the ghost its yellow vertical lines all over the screen, please don't use cheap lcd asus or many will get dissapointed by your products.

Im from the Philippines. I have bought this unit last april 2015, then after 2 months I think, it started to have ghost touch, then last september, it started to have yellow lines, at first I can still use it but when November comes, i had enough, I cant take it any more. I bring it to the ASUS World on gilmore, luckily, Im just living near Gilmore. They accepted my unit any tell me to come back in 2 days, cause they will repair it for free. After 2 days, i came back, they said, they dont have stock of the LCD, so they decided to order the part on other country, so they advised me to come back after 2 weeks. Then this week, I came back, then still my unit is not released. They said, the part is not available anymore, so they will just replace the whole unit for a brand new unit, including the box and charger. So they asked me the contact number of the store where I bought it, then after they contact the store, they will give me a certificate that I will show to the store so the store can replace my unit. All I need to provide is the box, the unit and the charger. Ill do it all tomorrow. Hopefully I can already have brand new asus fonepad tomorrow. Then I will just sell it with a brand new price and buy an Ipad instead because this unit gave me a lot of head aches -_-

You should go to service centre and ask them.. mine are the same. Almost 1 month in service. And i tried to ask them for information, and in two days i got my tab back in hand.. my lcd still superb. Avoid place them in the bag.. if u do so, try not to press the lcd with stuff in your bag.. and try your best to avoid over heat.. hope it helps.. :-)

i got the same situation with the other, the battery alway shutdown when the battery announces in the interval of 20%-30% and the screen is automatically jump by itself.

Mine has a problem also on touch screen. It is not responsive, This tablet is just like any cheap low quality tablet available in the market in terms of its performance. Branded tablet such as ASUS should not have this kind of touch screen issue.. (Considering the fact that we trust branded products) Why the Q.A. department of ASUS let this product sold to entire world without any engineering test on screen panel. It should not be out to the market...Customers are paying for their products for a piece of gadget that you cannot even use due to touch screen issues. I honestly don't recommend this product to anyone...Please ASUS Engineer do something about it..ASUS FE171CG should be recalled and do some upgrade or ECO to resolve screen issues.

Problem on touch screen, you need to touch hard to activate. It seems you are typing on an old type writer. Aside from touch screen all are ok. I dont know that most who have a problem unit is bought on online store. For now im avoiding to buy on online store. Its relly better to buy on physical store so that you could test before paying it.

Hai it has been six months since i had boughtthis product i could say its better than fe170cg. I have no problems in touch screen the ghost touch is normal problem in all problem within the budget of 10000 RS to 20000Rs but mine has not eve hanged up once and i have no experiance of ghost touch in fe171cg and no yellow line. yup same here.. vertical yellow line from left to right of the screen. and it's getting worse when you saw it under the sun.. the screen can be unresponsive sometimes and it can have "his own mind" (happened to me twice)... it's all about the screen.. they should withdraw all of this FE171CG and replace it with a better Touch screen.. this is my first time with ASUS and it's very dissapointing for me.. Let me start by saying that this is one of the worst products I have ever bought. I bought this product on 19-Apr from Flipkart. Display of my tab developed yellow vertical line within first 2 months after I bought it. I gave it to service center on 19-Jun-2015. Today, 6-Jul-2015, no signs of my tab getting repaired. Reason, LCD panel is not available in stock. They have revised ETA 4 times so far and every time they revise it they say that they will surely deliver it by then. I can't even tell you how frustrating communicating with their customer support is. [email protected] email id is useless. They respond after 3-4 days of you sending an email. Bottom line: THIS PRODUCT IS WASTE OF MONEY. I have wasted my money. I do not want anyone else to waster their's.

Hi. Im currently using fonepad fe171cg. I bought it not more than 2 months ago. I have lots of problem with the touchreen. First is the "ghost tap". It taps everywhere that my tab is going haywire. Second, the touchsreen is veryyy damn insensitive. I need to press it hard and most of the time it does not detect at all. I already try to factory reset it, but the problems are still there.

Hi, I bought Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) on 19-Apr-2015 from Flipkart. Sometime by start of Jun my fonepad developed yellow lines on the display. I submitted my fonepad for repairs on 13-Jun-2015 (because i was told that it will not be replaced even though its under warranty). I was told that the main board and LCD needs to be replaced. Within 2 months of purchasing, main board and LCD develops an issue?? Seriously ASUS?? I emailed [email protected] on 17-Jun asking for status. No reply. I sent a follow up email on 23-Jun. Got a reply on 24-Jun with standard apologies and asking some engineer to help me with my query. No reply from that engineer. In the mean time i called up their customer service number and got a date of 24-Jun and then 30-Jun for me to get my fonepad back. Today, 29-jun, no signs of my product. so called up ASUS customer service again and they gave me a new date of 7-Jul-2015. Guys, i have bought many gadgets and this is the worst product and customer support I have ever got. I hope ASUS is serious about their business in India because going by my experience, it does not look to be so. I hope whoever is reading this compliant is willing to take the risk of possible faulty product and super frustrating after sales service.

Have partial success sending youtube video to tv which has a Miracast dongle. However audio disappears after couple of minutes. Also wifi direct can't seem to maintain connection, need to use play to function on the pad instead which detects the dongle on the TV. Any idea how to fix audio problem?

I got this for a week and I must say it is one of the best and affordable device I ever used. Battery life is amazing, display and screen is very good for it price. Speed is smooth and snappy. Highly recommended. I got the 2gb ram version with 16gb storage. Happy customer.

I doubt he knows what he's talking about. Yes, you can do video calling with this, especially, with the front cam. That's what is usually used for aside for selfies. But you have to use it with Skype and other chat apps with video features.

I like the ASUS Fonepad 7 FE171CG because of it's simple/slim/sleek design that fits in pocket and hand, it's clean Zen UI on a crisp/clear large display which is great for reading/watching/playing, it's cool useful pre-installed apps for everyday use, and it's superb battery life to enjoy all of these, enough to last most of the day. Most of all it's affordable and well worth it's price.

Just bought this set 1 week ago.but felt very dissapointed because got battery problem.during online with 46% battery level suddenly auto-off. Then couldn't switch on back.after charging about half an hour try to ON can but battery level only 2% then After 2 minutes on the set battery level became 0% n auto-off although while charging continuously.then still continue charging in off power. After half an hour later once switched on the battery level only 2% n same thing happen as before; after 2 minutes battery level became 0% n auto off. Original Asus set with 1 year warranty by Asus Malaysia. After contact the dealer, the dealer has proposed to me for sending the set to the appointed Asus service centre for getting the under warranty services. But felt appointed again once informed need to leaving the set at the services centre n usually take about 1 month or maybe more than that(couldn't to ensure how long) for solve that problem.really felt unhappy, dissatisfaction , disappointed n not worth at all. Anybody have suggestions for propose to me.. Anyway TQ.
