It's a neat phone for it's time/era/generation and has served me well and has stamina. It's very slow these days though compared to the latest HTC's it's a donkey. HTC has come a long way since this type of phone.

all u need to access internet on HTC excalibur/Tmobile DASH/HTC S620 is the APN(accesspoint name). it will be given to you by your network provider. for example its for aircel, for airtel etc. go to start-settings-connections-GPRS and give a connection name and then the APN and its done. restart your phone and net will surely work on it. as per my experience, net runs much and much faster than any other smartphone on this masterpiece from HTC

That happened to me but then i realised you only press the button, don't hold it down. I don't know if this will help you but that is what i was doing wrong. If this doesn't work, i would take it in to a phone shop and ask if they can help. Hope this helped. x

this phone is still great , there are so many things you can do with it , I installed WM6.1 and its fantastic . I don't feel the need to purchase an expensive phone just because ... with newer WM6.5 available i doubt i'll find anything as cheap or as practical for my daily usage ... As for a battery they are $2.75 on the internet. no big deal..

Do what i did.. First take off the back panel and then remove the battery. Now place your thumbs at the middle of the phone and then snap the phone in half. After it is in half you could have a closer look at it.

Love the phone but am having problems with the memory. A few days ago it has been popping out a message saying 'ALERT: Your phone memory is low on free storage. Delete old or unused items to create more space.' I then bought a 2GB memory card after deleting some of my photos and all my sent and received messages. All the time I try and send messages, a pop messages comes up reading, 'ERROR: Your text message cannot be sent.' And then it goes and stores the unsent message under the 'drafts' folder. Okay here's the thing. Upgrade to wm 6.5 by Ookba at xda-developers and it adds new life to the phone. I am currentl using an 8G memory card and there are loads of free software (windows and Java) online. My phone is now my Personal Assistant and is very reliable. I can safely say that it gives any smartphone a run for its money once the upgrade is done.

the htc s620 is an amazing phone...i probably kept this phone longer than any other phone i have had. it worked awesome for probably the first 8-10 months, but then it started doing some different things...it got really glitchy and would freeze every now and then, but i let it go for a while. then probably 4 or 5 weeks before the phone completely froze, it wasn't allowing me to delete my texts. it would take 4 hours to delete them so i would delete before i fell asleep, but if i turned the phone off and back on, they would all be back...how this happened i have no idea but the phone had no joke over 10,000 texts saved the the internal memory. i absolutely loved this phone but it has way too much memory for its own good, you need a memory card just in case this ever happened but the user must keep in mind that it is just a phone, and you can't completely take advantage of the what it seems..."infinite" amout of free space.

i have my 620 for 4 day now and i will say its a pretty ok fone,the only trouble is the battery life and even though i close the programs that am not using, its stil goes down faster than am accustomed to and it wont pick my sd card. i've upgraded the rom to wm6.5 and the fone is a much better fone now all i need to do now is get my sd card to read and am good to go .can any one help with the sd card problem???

I had this phone for over 2yrs without fail. The local agent even did the upgrade from winmo5 to winmo6 free of charge in the first 12 months. To be honest, I would still be using this if it were not stolen even though I now have a Sony Xperia. This was an awesome phone.

To increase the battery life, u can change the battery. u can use SANYO Model: ST26C, Rating: 3.7 VDC, 1150mAh which will increase the battery life to 50%. Hope this will help u...

you can download roms from xda forms. I downloaded and installed a rom that lets me use an 8 GB SD card. its awesome! its also windows mobile 6. there are also many wimdows mobile 6.1 roms available for the s620 (tmobile dahs, excalibur). but they do not support the 8 GB card driver reader.

I have had this phone for a while and it is great. I really like the wifi feature. Web browsing is nice, but i would not recommend IE. There is a great program called SKYFIRE. This is the best mobile web browser available. You can watch youtube videos and play flash games just like on a desktop. I would definitly get this if i were you. I've only had one problem, but it is not really with the phone. When i upgraded to windows mobile 6, some of the atlernate sym,bols are mixed up. So if i press alt Q i will get an ! instead of a percent sign. Anybody know how to fix this. Overall, i would highly recommend this phone to anyone.

I have had my HTC S620 from new for 22 months now. My wife got a SEP990i. I have to say that my phone has had to endure alot of abuse, being dropped regularly and stood on once an a few knocks here and there when I am out in the field. This phone is brilliant and if there is problem (I have had the screen go funny on me a few times) just restart and all is great, it is fairly quick. Poor points is the software for the battery not good, if your phone has 65% and two bar it will be flat in no time which is weird as it spend so much time at 100% value you think the phone will last forever. However as with all smartphones invest in a high quality screen guard. Bottom line...great phone.

if you are not happy with your network provider then jsut get your S620 unlocked so you can use any other network providers sim you like. i did mine for less than �20 and i have changed the ROM aswell so its like a totally new phone and fully cusomisable - even windows mobile 6.1 works a treat!:)

Best mobile phone I ever had (and I had quite a few). I'm back using it, after using Motorola Q9h for a while. Excellent design and robust build...After I stepped on it while in a desert safari, I just cleaned it with compressed air in the first gas station, and voila! I wasn't able to upgrade it to WM6 though. Unfortunately the HTC customer service in Dubai (through Cellucom) is awful...that's the main reason I switched to Motorola, even if Moto Q9h has a poor WM6 implementation, compared with the WM5 on HTC S620.

I'm having this phone for more than 2 years as T-mobile Dash. I really can say this is the best phone I ever had. It came with Windows Mobile 5.0 and I updated to 6.0. Nice grip with the rubber finish body, bright and true color screen, user friendly, Wi-Fi works very well, ActiveSync, Words, Power point, Exel, Internet Explorer HTML Java, Windows media player. I installed a software called V-tap, now I can watch You Tube full screen too. there is no flash player for this yet. phone is bit slow but after careless using and all the applications I have in here , it still works for me.

Man I love my Dash. I still have mine too. Though I don't really use it as much as my iPhone. It was my first Smartphone and still my favorite. If HTC would bring a new model with 3G and a slightly different design, I'd drop my iPhone in a heartbeat.

The battery usually fail due to multiple programs running in the back round usually people dont know about this. you have to go to your task manager and close the programs that you are not using. doing so will save you battery life.

this is a very nice phone...especially once u mod it..i have WM6.1 and smarttoolkit which made my interface look just like my windows vista..i love this phone..it is not slow even with all my memory gone and my 4Gig sd card full...awesome phone...my phone lasts way more than 3 days with minimal usage and up to a week with me not messing with it...lovely phone...idk y they stopped making these phones even the S630..i love that phone also they need to bring it back with a touch screen

Hi every one I�m having this phone for about six months and so far I can tell that this is great phone: wm5, messenger, skipe, wifi, wmplayer, I installed documents to go so I can read PDF, and all the office documents, but with two mayor flaws the Bluetooth tends to block after one use (not sure if it the phone or my Motorola Bluetooth headset) and the other is my mayor complain: the battery life (this sucks, really my friends) today I used the phone from 9 am to 11:40 am (pdf, wmediaplayer, and some calls) and the little toy just die: if you are planning to buy this be careful; you must carry the charger everywhere (kind of annoying)

This is a sorry excuse for a smartphone. One would be better off using a regular Java enabled phone with 3rd party apps than trying to get this thing to work properly. The keys are reminescent of Palm's Centro without ANY of the Palm Benefits (which I'm told is a PITA to use as well). Bought the 620 and threw it in the junk drawer for over a year due to contract. Bought other phones to use in the mean time. Just killed the Q9h with sea water accidently and am stuck with this POS again until next phone arrives in mail. The S621 experience is full frusteration. As soon as new phone arrives and I set it up for my carrier, I'm spiking this one and the new battery against the pavement for closure. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! I'm going to enjoy destroying this POS! Don't cry to me or ask for me to send it to you instead. I may even make a video out of making this phone pay for my pain and send it to HTC. The first LAST HTC phone I will EVER own!!!

hi, i have this handset aswell and what you have to do is take your sim card out and while the phone is off press the left and right soft key together and hold them and press the power button no more than three secs. then you should get to a black screen with white writing on it - this is a factory reset!! this should help!

I have a HTC S621 which I got after using the Palm Treo 650 for one year. My problem is with the Treo you can set it to get your mail at given intervals which it does and then disconnects itsself from the internet. The HTC has a similar feature but does not disconnect from the Internet. As a result this has cost me a tremendous bill because I did not know it was still connected. Please note that the HTC says disconnecting at the end of retrieving the mail and this misled me. dose any one know how to set the HTC so that it automatically disconnects from the internet after getting email? @Dime: The T-Mobile branded version doesn't support Wifi... means the wifi possibility is simply switched off. Maybe there is a hack to switch it on again but i don't know for sure --> try google

GREAT PHONE! This is probably my 6th or 7th phone within 2 years and i have to say that this is downright one of the best. First off, the battery is EXCELLENT! I am a university student who uses this phone for text/email/wifi internet, and music. (music basically all the time because i commute to and from school)...and the battery still lasts through that. Solid Feel - The phone has a very very solid and warm feel to it when its in your hands. (no homo). The materials are nice as well. Buttons are decent sized and once you are used to it, you can even get away with typing/texting without looking at the Qwerty keyboard, which i find is great. Options - The phone has great options. My carrier is Rogers AT&T (Canada). So it is branded and locked as a Rogers phone, and still comes with great features. I can appoint mp3 files as ringtones, set my own backgrounds, search for wireless networks, use internet explorer, use media player, play videos. etc. the only thing that gets my annoyed sometimes is the lag/delay time that comes when u have multiple programs open. and that u cannot close programs like an actual window. u HAVE TO go to the task manager and manually close openedd programs. BUT that is not as bad as it sounds. Keeping multiple programs open as bad as it sounds does NOT, i repeat, does NOTTTT drain your battery as you might think. It will only drain the battery if the program is ACTIVE/IN USE. KEYPAD - the phone has a nice key pad too. it has a nice cool blue backlight which makes it easy on the eyes when using the phone in the dark. Speaking of easy on the eyes, its a sore when you are looking at the screen in the dark, cuz as far as i've looked in the menu's i still cant turn down the brightness of the LCD screen which should be a straight forward feature even in sh*t phones too. SLIMMMMMM =) - This phone is really thin and has a great shape compared to other PDA style phones. All my friends see this phone as ask to hold it, and ask, "Woahhh man, its so slick, so thin....." Then i tell them its called the Excalibur, n i feel like a bad ass. So im sure you lot will get the same feeling as well lol. JOGGR - The name given to the touch sensitive part on the right hand side near the screen is quite annoying. Scrolling with it is 'fine', but its more accurate if u just manually use the up/down buttons and the enter/submit button. Double tapping it takes just too long cuz it doesnt recognize the taps sometimes. but again, its also cool when u show someone the phone for the first time and u bust out showing them the 'cool scroll touch pad'....badass ego once again. (by the way, the Joggr CAN be turned off.) Overall, great phone, great size (thin), battery is excellent, features really good too. Although the pc-to-phone sync system could be faster and more convenient. highly recommended. Peace!

Hi! For that person asking about upgrading to WM6 on unlocked S620. I upgraded and loving every bit of it. I upgraded using the rom on HTC that they released on Aug 28th, 2007. Just a note to you that plan to do this, when your phone reboots after initial install, it is normal for you to "be stuck" in the startup window for about 5mins, so don't be impatient :)

Had mine for three weeks and all I can say bad is the battery life. But hey I use my phone to the most of it's abilities. One dissapointing thing is the lack of a office editors and perhaps 3rd party gear that actually runs. I love it ease of wifi & voip runs perfectly. Battery cover a bit flimsy but the phone just slips into my pocket nothing like my V600 moto that would stand out. Again love the phone. I also have a SEP990. If you need ultimate office go P990 if you need e-mail and communication i.e. Voip etc. Go mobile 5 and HTC has done that great.

Pros:Nice sleek slim design, speakers are pretty loud, bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, Cons:Volume joggr doesnt work well, can not turn off tone for text messages, programs run in the background, battery cover comes off too easily, not a touch screen, qwerty hard to type on Full user opinion This is one of the most deceiving phones I've ever owned. In the beginning when I was playing with it at the store, the phone seems good, then after a week of using it I've found tons of things wrong with it: -volume joggr doesn't work well, does not work for apps unless it's hacked. -programs opened remains running in the background unless "terminated" in task manager. so you would actually have to go there every application used in order to close it. -the qwerty keys are way too tiny and too close to each other -text messages tone/ringer stays on even after checking message. or can not stop the ringer with any button. i put a t-mobile jingle which last about 10sec. so good luck if you put a 30sec message ringer! -battery cover comes off way too easily. i put the phone in my pocket and 75% of the time, the cover comes off when i take it out. plus leaving Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on kills the battery in less than 2hrs in full charge. -alarm can not be set on speciifc day. for example, you want to set it only for weekdays. also, in order to snooze alarm, you have to go to menu, and pick a time to snooze. which defeats the whole purpose of just hitting a button to snooze. -phone can not be set to "LOCK" automatically, you have to hold the "end" button in order to do so. -there is no equalizer or playlist in Windows Media Player -speaker is on the back which means when you are listening to music you would have to put the phone facing down in order to hear it clearly. otherwise, the speaker will sound muffled if the phone is facing up. Plus, putting it face down scratches the front of the phone. -in order to set ringtones, the mp3's have to be put in "My Documents", you can not make a folder for all your ringtones, they would have to be just floating around in my documents folder. This phone is amazing: -reception is awesome -screen is very clear and bright -Buttons are a little small but are still easy to use after -battery life is good considering all the different types of connectivity -wi-fi is easy to set up and works pretty well -very nice size and weight to it Overall one of the best phones i have used in recent years

You can mute the incoming call by touching the volume strip. But everybody that has one is complaining ov the stri being very sensitive so they turn it off and than you have no way of muting the incoming call. In that case there really is no solution.

I have arrived at HTC from NOKIA Communicator. I used QTEK9100 before I began using the S620. I am a very happy user. Initially I was anoyed by the scroller bar, which I turned of. After that I just find the phone to be a joy and a productivity turbo charger in my work. It syncronizes with LOTUS Notes very elegantly. Only minus is charging. I find that the battery holds for 1.5 days - which is not much.

I'm disappointed with the phone. I have trouble when receiving calls. Almost every incoming call gets ignored because of the sensitive buttons. Also while on the phone the volume strip is always beeping because it�s constantly adjusting the volume. This is the first NON Nokia phone that I have and I have to tell you that nobody can beat Nokia when it comes down to Quality. Yes it has a lot of features but it�s not perfected. I firmly believe that NOKIA is still #1. That's my opinion. Anybody else experiencing the same problems?

I'm having troubles with my S620, because all calls are with a strange metalic sound...I have this problem with regular and speakerphone calls, but not when im using the handsfree device. Does anyone know how to fix it? Many thanks

HTC-S620 (Tmobile-Dash) ringing loudness setup procedure: 1. select setup, select profiles,on "normal" click menu then click edit,it will popup a setup window, then you n�ed to select ring type "ring" and ring volume "loud". Repeat to the rest of setup to "play sound" and volume to "loud" then click "done" It might n�ed to turn off the phone and turn back on for the new setup to take place. You will never miss any phone call again. Gơod luck!

T9 and qwerty - ha ha u people. The phone has a qwerty keyboard - what you expect to press the 'a' key and it to predict an 'e'.

gmail is free mailbox, you need to make sure it supports pop3 and allow you to port into your phone. Most of the free mailbox won't allow you to do that unless you ungrade it which you need to pay for it. I upgraded and paid for my Yahoo mailbox, now I can access my Yahoo emails thru my s620.

I used both Dash and currently in love with S620. Yes, S620 does not support T9 which Dash does... doesn't brother me. If you want to use MP3 as ringtone if you need to copy your MP3s to /My Documents folder in your phone since that is the folder Windows assigned finding ringtone selection. Everything else is working for me, anyone has good websites for the wallpapers... please post.

I hate this phone at first because I can't text and drive at the same time anymore hahaha but this is actually good. I don't text and drive anymore. The only problem with this phone.... sometime it seems to hang and not responsive. The only way to do fix it is to turn off and on again. Not sure why. Other than that it is good phone.

I wrote to HTC Customer Support yesterday about the unavailability of the T9 text-input feature on my S620. They wrote back and mentioned that the phone does not the T9 support because it already has the QWERTY keypad. Strange! Microsoft's WM5 website says the T9 feature is standard in WM5. It can be activated by pressing and holding the * key on any WM5 OS phone. The Samsung SGHi320 phone has a QWERTY keypad and T9 feature as well.

i notice one thing: when the phone is ringing i have 3 options a) answer call b) reject call c) or leave phone on the table and enjoy the ringtone. maybe someone knows how mute the ringtone during incoming call?

I've used Dash for two weeks by now. Seems a very reliable phone. One problem is that the rign tone is not loud enough and I miss a lot of calls especially whem driving. Is it a flaw in my particular phone or typical of all Dash?

Yea, you set the bluetooth to "Visible", you proably have it set to "on". Once you do that, you should be able to see other phones and trasfer stuff. A++ phone, recomend to anyone who needs a good smart phone!

I've had this phone for just a over a month. It has a lot of good features, although you there are some cons. You can't edit microsoft office( i think that's just smartphone standard for now),but you can view it. When you add programs to the device, beware that you lose memory and some programs when you uninstall it, it won't do a complete uninstallment because you'll still see a blank icon of the program on the menu so you have to hard reset it(this a windows mobile problem). The good thing is the texture of the cover material, you can sorta wash off the marks on it and has a good grip. I believe this phone is a good investment for people who are looking for a practical pda and long endurance... Could someone explain to me what skype is please?

Regardsing all the comments about Skype not working, Skype only released a MS Smartphone-compatible version of Skype (Skype for Windows Mobile 2.2 Beta) a couple of days ago so it is unsurprising you have all failed to get it working, since you were presumably trying to install the PocketPC 2.1 version, which is not compatible with the S620.

I haven't work with it yet i have HTC2125 smarthphone but for the first guy that posted a comment, you need to establish a bluetooth connection between your PDA and laptop or desktop don't matter.Step two is going to www.bluetooth.com and download small program called Transend and then you can dowload everything straight from the net or your computer/ all with bluetooth connection/ P.S. and you might want to sync your PDA w/ the computer ActiveSync

HTC S620 or DASH This phone is very good. Keeps every call clear and signal strong all over. Not to many flaws, everything is a plus. I have the Pearl and Dash, prefer the Dash. You dont even know its in your hand or in your pocket its that light.

Update to my previous comments... I got WiFi working without any problems by fiddling with the power settings. I basically turned off all the power saving features so WiFi stays connected unless I turn it off manually. Though Skype won't install I found a similar product called Woize that installs and works, though it's buggy. It's still in beta testing so that's to be expected. I also found a java based SSH client that works (though it also has some problems) called MidpSSH. All in all I'm having a great time playing with this smartphone. I expect that as Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphones grow in popularity there will be more applications ported to them.

I got one yesterday and like it a lot, but I'm disappointed about a few things. First, WiFi is difficult to get connected somtimes, even when I'm right next to the WAP. But once connected it seems okay. Honestly it could be the WAP too, because it's new and untested with other devices. I had high hopes of using PocketPuTTY but it didn't work. The keyboard won't type any special characters when using it and the keys with numbers type only the numbers and not the letters. If I had done more research I would have found that it doesn't work with many devices yet (including most smartphones, I think) so I should have known better. I expected to be able to use Skype but it won't install. Other than that it's pretty nice. E-mail works pretty well, audio quality is good--I don't have a bluetooth headphone yet--and though the keyboard is a little tricky to use I think it's pretty good for the size.

got one today. was able to install skype and it worked!!! just some tweaking. managed to install sms threader... now its like a treo and much better... it is thinner and smaller without any compromise on the keypad size.... kudos!

Got myself one of these this week, from Expansys (UK): Keyboard is much better than I had hoped - the buttons have raised tops, they do not feel that cramped. Basically needs a PC to load it with stuff: - Windows Media Player to sync MP3s etc (conversion from MP3 to WMA is not needed). Phone socket is non-standard, so I took a chance on a i-Tech Bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP). Sound in great, though I've found it best to keep the phones on full and control volume on the HTC, otherwise there is clipping. - Mobipocket is good for ebooks etc., screen makes reading a pleasure - No note-taking application is supplied, but I'm using M$ Office 2007 (beta), it includes OneNote PC,which prompted me to install OneNote Mobile installed on the HTC - does the job great. No spreadsheet included, still looking for a decent scientific calculator (trying Orneta) Games so far: Birdsoft All-In Hold'Em (poker), Smoresoft Sudoku, iSS Invaders (free via Microsoft). It's a keeper IMHO, and I haven't even set up GPRS yet, just WiFi.

Checked their europe website from the FAQ section there it seems to be capablle for Skype. However anyone spoted how much this gadjet will cost? P.S. there are plenty of non Skype VoIP who promise to deliver on 200Mhz mobile CPUs.

Skype downlaod page states that so long as the CPU is 400MHz and above, Skype for mobile would then be suitable. It seems that the S620 has only CPU of 200MHz. Am I right about this? Does it mean that Skype for mobile is not compatible with the S620. I am presently using HTC TyTn and Skype for mobile has performed quite well thus far. Would anyone care to advise me or comment on this? Thanks.

yeah so this pic looks a little diff. the outline/background around screen and keyboard looks white instead of silver but prob just light silver. anyway it was funny when this first came out that ppl though it got wider at the keyboard but that is just design illusion caused by that whitish silver background material. anyway the wifi is great but no 3g and its not worth getting any smart or pda phone that doesn't have 3g anymore since there are plenty of phones and carriers that do now. cool that you mentioned that Asus p525 phone. Asus is the best laptop maker but none of the phone seem to be that great. that one is cool but no 3g so nah. tmob is getting this phone as the tmob dash. i'll be waiting for the samsung i607 with hsdpa on cing for my Q killer but the i607 doesnt' have wifi and it was rumored that the gsm Q will.

This this has a 200MHz Texas Instruments Omap Processor when is a different class than the Intel processors, so comparing MHz between Intel and TI wont work, but I do like Intel processors better anyway

this thing can't be better than Samsung SGH i320 as this thing runs on 2ooMHz and the i320 runs on Intel 416MHz. The only advantage of hving this over i320 is the Wi-Fi support which the i320 doesn't have. Also take a look at this guy ASUS P525. Cool!! Phone and PDA not smartphone. I hate smartphone as I want touch screen in the smartphone but i'm still waiting but with ASUS P525 it's done. It's cool pocket pc phone in the size of a smartphone.

this device would be difficult to type with in my opinion. if you look real closely at the device you will notice that there is hardly any space between the buttons. thus typing will make the qwerty keyboard somwhat useless.

Nice design, honestly I think it looks sexier then the samsung i320. And feature wise this thing will work wonders for me here in the US/NYC. But what I want to know is whats the power on this thing? Hopefully they go with intel xscale processor of 400mhz and up and not a texas instrument processor like the moto q.
