HTC Windows Phone 8X - User Reviews

  • No boot

  • This is the best phone I've ever owned! I bought it in January 2013 for $25 with a $25 credit, and I still use it for calls/texting in March 2019. I am typing this message on it right now. Windows 8.1 OS, keyboard, UI, hardware beat my 2018 Android phone (purchased on Nougat, updated to Oreo and Pie) on EVERY level. I never had to charge this for days and days, dropped it a bunch of times-- no case on it ever-- no break, no scratch (black retained it's color.) No keyboard errors. Every other word on Android types wrong. Windows OS was 100% intuitive. Anything I tried, worked. Android is clunky, less responsive and NEEDY. Always updating apps and OS with no improvements, just new problems. More ads, more spying, not intuitive, bad battery life, no longevity. My family uses iPhone and pays a fortune for phones that make everything harder and don't let you customize anything. $1,000 with garbage battery life, cracking screens-- re-skinned old phones whose battery will be dead in two years. We need Windows Phone OS back or at least some competition! Stop putting up with Android/iphone overpriced junk!

  • I had this boot loop issue and the solution is to let battery drain and leave it for few days. after that, put the plug in and let it charge.. in my case this solve everything

  • I cant create Microsoft account on my htc 8x and also don't get updates

  • Power button not working.boot loop issues

  • Just one year since I bought my HTC 8.1 Messenger is not working, Earphones are not working, I cant play videos, It freezes almost all the time

  • It's working on Windows 8 platform. But I upgraded my Os to Windows 8.1... Now Messenger is not connect with the internet. I think, Downgrades will be work.

  • It appears the problem about Messenger and the device in question is a common one. Something has to be done!

  • One of best phones i ever had i have it since like end of 2012 and it still works same as it was before i got it audio output from 3.5mm jack is best i have ever seen with beats audio on its louder then any other phone i had . For peapols who asking why messenger doesnt work its cuz they droped support for windows 8.1 and now only windows phone 10 will support it

  • My HTC windows 8x can't connect to messenger , it cannot send messages on messenger either. pls help me.

  • Me too i have a same problem for my HTC pm23300 windows phone

  • hi my htc c625a is not connecting to wifi. it recognize the wifi but when the password is key in, its dispaly.. 'your phone can not connct to wifi (wifi name) pls help

  • my htc c625a can't connect to wifi. the phone recognize the wifi after key in the password it will simply display "your phone can not connect to wifi pls assist

  • You can't do anything as YOU have ruined your phone, it goes to 8.1 max, W10 is not compatible with the hardware

  • i tried upgrading this phone which i bought with my last, little did i know i was gonna waste my money on some piece of shit, the phone just cant switch on again,i tried all i could but still, what can i do now..someone help..

  • i upgraded the phone from windows 8 to windows 10 and it crushed it wont switch on,i have tried rebooting but nothing works what should i do to make the phone work again

  • Can it be upgraded. Simply wrong platform aswell.

  • Is HTC Windows phone 8x support 4G ?

  • good

  • REALLY good but a bit lame in some places- APPS

  • This is very nice pnone with good features

  • Good

  • Same here. When i looked for its review, its really its issue. And we cant do anything about it. Thats the sad part. What ive noticed is that make sure that your battery is always full and ypu have a strong signal. Observed it, if you have a poor signal it automatically shutdown or when the battery is lower that half, it happens.

  • Try to reboot your phone. Just press the power botton on top and the upper key on the side and the camera botton on the lower part. Hold the three botton at the same time. See what happens. Hope it will works for ypur phone. Evrytime my phone gets mess i just reboot it and its all done!

  • There are step by step procedures in windows help menu. I just followed it. My phone is now upgraded to 8.1 its just that the same old issue occurs. It keeps on rebooting.

  • go for another simcard.

  • hi i cant sign in to my Microsoft account to download whats app, Facebook messenger and all other applications . they keep asking me for code and wrong activation please can you help me fix this .

  • Hi I have an HTC 8X windows phone 8, model HTC C625a. I tried to upgrade to WP8.1; it died. I had to change the motherboard. But now I can not install gmail or get my gmail contact. Can I try to upgrade the phone to WP8.1 or this model does not support WP8.1 at all? Thank you

  • Very good celebrate

  • I mistakenly upload tons of pictues and wont let me delete this option.

  • Does this phone support 4G in India?

  • I still have this phone, three years running. I did get involved in an accident with a bus so the lower half of the screen's been shattered. I did get a film over it so it wouldn't split open my finger. BUT EVERYTHING WORKS EXCELLENTLY, even the three buttons where there are cracks work fine. This phone is amazing even considering its age, certainly faster than some of the new entry level Android phones coming out with their weak processors. The speaker is loud, 3G speeds are good, WP 8.1 is plenty fast and usable in 2016, this is still a good buy if you can find it for chump change.

  • I can't sign in and it keeps asking me to activate windows phone

  • i just bought mine but when i try to sign in my windows account it ask for an activation code can you please help me out

  • contact Microsoft live support center, chat live with an expert there and he will generate the code for you. just got my code yesterday

  • I cant open my store it says I need a activation code how can I do it

  • Helo... I think is a problem regarding to Micro$oft and not only with the 8x but with every microsoft account... try to log with a computer and using any browser like firefox or try to create a new one.. you'll get an error everytime... i posted here, so lets just hope they fix their servers soon... ... the 8x already doesn't belong to HTC anymore... at least thats what an expert from HTC told on chat in the past ... that 8x and all windows phones out there no matter de producer passed to microsoft since the giant company keep the roms of the devices... best regards to you

  • Anytime i want to connect to store it tells me cant connect try later please can i get a help

  • Hi friend.. It seems that there is no way to sign in the new or old account ... What do you think ..is it Htc make problem or microsoft ???? Did you know that this problem can be resolved any time soon...or we must to change the phone ???? many thanks

  • Hello people... It seems micro$oft is having "issues" with the accounts service... Anyway try creating a new account and associate it with your 8x to continue using it with apps.. At this moment there's a page on microsoft accounts login that says "your request cannot be completed. Microsoft account is having technical issues. Try again later" (i've translated from spanish) so .. hope they solve it soon . . . good luck with your 8x. Best regards

  • I have a similar problem..I deleted all accounts and reset phone..now I can not create a new account ... @ live.com. I can not even sign into the old one. .@ hotmail.com.I can not install any application. From yesterday does not work internet sharing, must visit att.com, or dial 611 ... I called microsoft girls, they are really friendly but do not know about my problems anything. Is it possible that microsoft or htc blocked this version of phone..I am desperate..Can you please give me some help or direct me to where to look for..I have nerves for several days more and then 8x going to swim to the bottom river ..and I'm gonna buy a samsung 😂

  • I am glad that you are healed... Can someone help me.. I can not create a new Microsoft account (... @ live.com), and I can not install any aplication..it says that can not connect and to try later..is there anyone with similar problem and does anyone know a solution ????

  • Hello again.. To all those of you having network issues with your 8x or boot loops problems .. we have found a solution... posted here (thoug is in spanish so i will translate since it is my solution I have had those issues too my 8x from t-mobile suddenly died and wakeup in an endless bootloop so we dessassemble the unit disconected the battery turnit on again and works BUT it has no service ... so what to do..? was simple... turn it off disconected te batery disconected all antena calbles.. the reconect battery and battery only! please follow this only batery then turn on ..now with the phone turned on connect all antenas again .. you'll see magic! your network service will return.. if any doubt put the sim on and call.. it works with the phone dissassembled.. so now all you have to do is turn it off and ensemble the unit again. NOTES is very very hard to open this unit.. there are plenty of videos en youtube explainig the procedure it must be done very carefully avoiding damage to display .. in some cases the antenna might get broken if so calm down all you need to do is solder a thin copper or aluminion cable between the parts to connect al copper... if worked for you please post here.. it did for my HTC that keeps working perfectly you can turn it on and off asmany times as you want take the sim out etc.. it wont die ... Hope i have helped you... best regards

  • Hello everyone out there sorry not to answer before but i got sick got into surgery and a very long health recovery but here we are againg. The HTC Windows Phone 8x will not receive windows 10 update only windows 8.1 update 1 so far, also not getting firmware updates. To get 8.1 you need to register your microsoft account as a developer first its free then instal the windows developer preview app and the windows insider app. Windows Phone 8 has 3 updates known as GDR 1, 2 & 3 depending on your OS version you need that (upgradable with windows preview for developers app i mentioned) then it gets another 2 or 3 more little updates and finaly it says that is ready for windows 8.1 so go for it! important Back up all your data just in case nothing is lost except apps you'll need to install then again. When you get to 8.1 you'll need to register your account in the windows insider program and use the otehr app mentiones to get any update including windows 10 if someday it gets... With the update to windows 8.1.1 the cell changes completely for better so i recomended. Besides the apps are better too.. so good luck!

  • I accidentally drop my htc 8x to the water and still working, but the camera doesn't work. What should I do?

  • (DISCLAIMER FOR 8X BUYERS: WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT GET THE T-MOBILE VERSION its stuck on windows phone 8 and not 8.1) and it doesn't have wireless charging only the fully unlocked and the verizon get the wireless charging and the 8.1 updates but besides that it's a lovely phone i love it i have on in the california blue i have the T-Mobile one and also since it's 8 not 8.1 you wanna go to your gmail account and enable less secure apps windows phone 8 uses some sort of open authentication and not HTTPS and if you really want 8.1 you would have to download preview for developers it is in the windows store and login your credentials and make sure you bought the preview package so you can get the preview or you will get a error code saying you need to buy the dev package (i am sorry but i'm not too sure what its called) but after you bought it it costs around 20$ for the basic plan and after that go back to your phone and then open the app and then log into your microsoft account (@hotmail.com or @live.com) and then do wht ever it tells you to do wait for it to re-boot and viola you have cortana and a number of alot more apps and bug fixes (note: its a dev preview so your phone might get bricked,go into a boot loop, or alot of apps will crash)

  • Don't worry guys Microsoft is working on it. They are working on a way to update these kind of issues through a method similar to how they update PC's. A Windows Mobile Updater will be needed to be installed and download the latest W10M to devices capable of running it. Microsoft wants bring W10M broadest number devices as possible.

  • No windows 8.1 will be the last update for this device.

  • Sick to the teeth of this phone. Can no longer connect to wifi at all. Apps crash consistently. Phone suddenly restarts occasionally. Battery life is poor considering I don't use apps anymore. Snapchat and other major apps missing from store, this is an issue with all windows phones. I do like the menus and tiles but thats about it. The music player is shocking altogether. Slow and takes ages to find the music when new music is added. you'd swear windows is searching the entire phone to find were the files are saved.

  • This device has an awesome built quality and a really nice screen, the phone is also fast and smooth but one thing is going to make all this go away....battery drain in this phone is absolutely huge, you really want to stay away from it as it drains itself in a very weird way Stay away from this phone.

  • Mine is about 2 years old now and still looks almost as good as new. Not a scratch on the screen or at the back. It has excellent build quality.

  • do we have cdma sim slit in this??/

  • It comes with both 8gb and 16gb K!

  • Windows phone's very limited apps andoid is best

  • It has nothing to do with the phone. Maybe it has something to do with you.

  • You should learn to use phones. No use buying M7 or M8

  • Install One Note on your desktop PC, your notes will automatically be synchronized and available. No need to get it off or email.

  • Get "Preview for Developers" app from Windows Store to get 8.1

  • even the low budget nokia's have received windows phone 8.1 update months ago, and htc can't update it's last year windows phone flagship :)) I'll never use another Microsoft product and will never buy htc again

  • Hi guys I got htc 8x may hands review is good enough of my budget as of now. I got big in past week it is shut off itself and I cnt open even I hard reset ddnt work I am searching any forum about htc 8x and I found how to resolve. U must open the phone and pull off the batery port and insert it again and try to reboot. Its works but my big problem when I insert my sim card was failed and shut off again. And I conclude to my there was something wrong with may software I need to w8 an update and ill try again and now it work fines. For mhe its good phone ever I'll have except batery life.

  • That's not true. You can get windows phone 8.1 by installing the developer preview. I just install it today on my HTC 8x and it works great.

  • One of the best phones I've ever used. Absolutely no issues whatsoever (maybe the battery could've been better though). Cam is decent. Sound quality via earphones is INCREDIBLE! Display is good. Loudspeaker is audible in office environment. I'm really satisfied with it. Even though it's a bit old now, i would still recommend you to buy it. Really good phone!

  • No software / update support from HTC - Microsoft (even though I'm a big fan of both ms/htc). I wanted 8.1 in this piece of plastic crap. The phone's corners lost their paint even though I didn't drop it, and the first time it fell from my hands, lock button broke, to the inside part of the body, and it started restarting like there's no tomorrow. Long story short, I'm moving to an HTC M7. Decent software and update support/development,twice as powerful as this one, and a premium design.

  • I might be buying it if any has a comment right back

  • I have had this phone for 2 years, bought 3 replacements and all them had the same issue. Sim Card error, even new sim cards wouldn't work, left my phone completely useless for intermittent, unannounced periods of time. Sometimes I would spend a full day thinking my phone is working when it actually has set itself to airplane mode. The screen cracked twice from 2-3 foot drops, the apps fail constantly and restart the phone, and of course the phone sucks down data, costing you more and more in data to verizon. Worst phone I have ever owned and when I first bought it I thought it was God's gift to Tech. Turns out it is just poor design

  • The Best smartphone is iphone

  • HTC has announced windows 8.1 for HTC 8x to be released late October!

  • Buy new pbone

  • Thjs is a windows phones

  • Like other smartphones, HTC 8x should have google play app on it, to give access to Users for installing android apps... Though apps (on HTC) are very good but still apps (which are available on Samsung Galaxy or Sony Xpersia and other sets popular in the market etc.) are not available on this set... I will request the administration to please consider this addition to make it best smartphone in the world... Thanks alot

  • Camera is Best. Good quality but slow auto-focusing The downside is its battery, and sometimes it heats.can anybody help get fix this problem thanks

  • I have been using this phone for last 8 months. It's possibly the best thing you can get, if you want to have a real experience with smartphones. No issues of any kind.

  • So after debating for so long on what phone to upgrade to I decided on the HTC 8x and what a fantastic choice it has been! The phone is beautiful in every detail, it works magnificently and does everything I need it to do and more. The screen on this is the perfect size at 4.3inches, I personally think this is the size a mobile phone should be, any bigger just doesn't feel right. The os is windows 8 and it is so smooth and a joy to use.

  • it is a window phone

  • Yes. Specially for music listening. formal update is not ready yet.

  • It depends on background task. If you block all of them, can be stand by up to 10 days.

  • Only 1800 mAh battery. is it good for this phone ? can it get update 8.1 ?

  • this is not a android os this is microsoft windows 8 os

  • hi i want to purchase htc 8x but im confuse is it android phone or not plz tell me

  • How long is battery stand by?

  • It means that your children cant remove it by cracking or dropping because battery is dangerous. When it is necessary. It can be removed by technician.

  • You got 8.1 update???

  • The battery problem is about windows phone. but you can fix it. if you have installed lots of programs, you will see that battery usage even at stand by increased. you should go settings and slide the screen right and block all background apps. dont worry all blocked apps will work well (i didnt test viber or line or.... on that situ). let your wifi and location stay turned on they dont use battery when they are stand by. after all u will find that your eight x can be stand by for at least ten days.

  • Can I install ubuntu touch os on this HTC Windows phone

  • Hi everyone, Really hoping someone can help me out. I purchased an HTC 8x last week. I got it from Verizon. I live in Toronto, Canada and I'm really hoping that it will work with my local carrier (TELUS). Is there someone who can confirm with me whether it will or will not work on the TELUS network. I've been told that the Verizon device frequencies do not always work with or are compatible with Canadian carriers. If anyone can provide me with their thoughts I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot in advance!

  • It is simple to upgrade the from WP 8 to WP 8.1 (Developer's Version). If you have the HTC 8X from AT&T then You will get Cortana otherwise you won't. Find the app named "Preview for Developers" in Store and install it. Thats it... Leave the rest on the app.

  • This is currently available in selected regions only. Changing your phone settings will not help. You will have to wait hoping that they make it available in other regions too in the official 8.1 update.

  • Check it out yourself at:

One website stated Cortana is currently available only in US, followed by UK & China in the end of 2014. All other regions will be getting Cortana from the start of 2015. However, those living outside US can still get Cortana by changing their region to US in settings option (reboot is required though). Thanks in advance!

  • This happens on 2 occasions: 1) The power supply should have been low while you were charging. 2) The charger might have not been properly plugged in.

  • Have this phone for about 3 months now. Very satisfied so far. Great quality, fantastic screen, fantastic glass, never had a smudge on the screen, it's sort of "smudge proof" or something. Very fast, runs beautifully Asphalt 8 and Real Racing. No lag, no bul$it, just works. After android feels like a breeze of fresh air!

  • Hi guys can you please help me with my HTC 8X, I cannot sign in with Xbox live and windows account because I need an activation code for me to able to log in. Pls help me with the activation code iwant to download games and apps. Thank you in advance

  • i want to buy this phone please someone share with me what is the better between lumia 625 and HTC 8x.

  • You must've added photos to your favorite album. The photos added here will keep on shuffling. If you want a fixed one, remove all the photos from the favorites except the one you want.

  • Guys, I'm unable to change the background in photos hub. I've once tried shuffle background after that I couldn't change the background to a fixed one. Please help...

  • Is this phone good enough with everythng or wats the weakness? plz tell me guy

  • Huh, someone's duping you by saying G610s is equally good to 8X! At 130g 8X feels like feather. Compare them again. 8X is way ahead in Display, Sound, Data & Camera. Windows Phone store has enough apps to meet your req's.

  • It's pretty nice phone. I like it and Windows has all the essential apps

  • thanks alot dude :-) , now my oppurtunity cost forgone is used iphone 5

  • Nice and good phone

  • Nice phobe

  • Should I buy HTC 8x or Huawei ascend G610? I hear both of them are good. tough choice. Answer please?

  • 8X has Beats audio enhancements by Dr.Dre. Earphones are good, hear it to Believe it! You'll NOT be disappointed.

  • Yes, it works perfectly.

  • in htc 8x the viber, whatsapp, skype etc works???

  • Got this phone CAD$130 for 3 days now. Great phone, so smooth, fast app switch, after being tortured by Android phone for years!!

  • Great battery life after the latest GDR3 update....FM radio and many new features...Great Phone

  • It says - 30 something hours.

  • Hi there,i need your advice, which phone should i buy between htc 8x and bb z10.

  • I'm going to buy 8x. Should i buy it or wait for another windows phone??

  • how is the battery life ????

  • 8.1 is on the way for 8X boys....best WP phone around at this price

  • wht is the price for HTC Windows Phone 8X

  • 3 words: "GO FOR 8X"!

  • @WTC I don't think it's that. I think you are just an Android funboy came to spit on WP. But, I don't think you'll have any sucess.

  • dude, you are wrong. Screen is worse, and if you will make a comparision betwen an dual core 1.5 Krait Snapdragon S4 (WP version) with an 1.2 quad core cortex a7(android version), you will see a big dierence. 8X BEATS EVEN 1.5 QUAD CORE CORTEX A9 ANDROID PROCESSORS. 8X is much better than Moto G. and WP is much stable than Android.

  • i think you bought an 8x wich was not deposited correctly. It happened to me on a Prestigio. I have 8x too, and i have no problems. i personalized it with colors, widgets, tiles and apps, and it doesn't even have lag.

  • This phone is great. I bought it a month ago, and I am not sorry for the choice. Design is very beautiful and comfortable, and the performance is still top notch, even if it was launched on market in the late 2012. Camera colors are stunning, Beats Audio is just heaven, and the screen is one of the best I've ever seen. The problem is that you will find cases and other accessories on the internet only. And remember, this is the second best WP after Lumia 1020, cuz the 1320 and 1520 are in the PHABLET category and you really don't need an Quad core\octa core smartphone. This phone beats an quad core cortex a9 or a quad core snapdragon 400 with krait (for android).

  • Well it depends on what you want from the phone. The HTC has windows OS while Moto G has android(which I think is much better). The Moto G has a better screen, processor and GPU. However the 8X is much better in terms of camera so if camera quality is very important to you, it is better to go with the 8X. If a decent camera is enough for you then I would recommend the Moto G.

  • in my contry, the 8x is 50$ less than the moto g. should i buy it or the moto g ?

  • Still recall the ordeal of owning an HTC Windows Phone 8X. Yes, it's cheap & I decided to give a try. After about 3-4 months, the touchpad went out of control, text came out not as I type, typing seems to continue despite I stop typing, screen jerking & frozen, making calls & sending text by itself .... & many more, absolutely amazing. Power off & on, hard reset, clear all apps,I tried all but did not work. Sent back to HTC service center, claiming that they have replaced the touchpad & is working alright.... my foot! Can't imagine how much hair I pulled off from my head over the months I use this phone. Not wanting to have the hassle of sending the phone back & waiting, I bought a Samsung Note 3 with total satisfaction. My nightmare is finally over.

  • Have this phone for already a month now. Most fluid phone I ever had. Battery life seems the only problem. Never experienced lag or hangs with it. Screen and display is very good. Camera is also good especially the front camera. 1GB RAM is already enough for the OS. A minor problem is that it is not a Lumia so it wouldn't receive much update, only windows phone 8 updates.

  • Nope i jst a nrml guy looking for faster internet

  • Sorry man but you are wrong ... vedio play depends upon players codec .... you can download core player or any other for better xperience with any formet of video .... and one more thing video play depends upon also on CPU speed ...

  • What is the best...?? HTC 8X or Nokia Lumia 925....

  • I watched some review's on the interent about wp8 and more users say that the wp8 phones don't support .mkv files and divx with ac3... now i'm really disapointed cause i really wanted to buy a wp8 phone, now i think i'm gonna turn my view to android again...

  • when dont have an idea what is what in a windows phone, u proved that u r not fit to poses that OS!! Go for some C-grade mobiles with JAVA OS!!

  • just stop this over acting ok? it is more than enough to go with 3G, and I am sure u wont be any company's CEO or in such a position to use 4G!!

  • my phone doesnt support 4g i hve inserted a 4g sim card bt still it doesnt support

  • wat is my family i cant download the app from my store so wat can i do if any know about it den help me

  • The HTC 8x is the most comfortable phone I've held in my hand. The rubber-esque polycarbonate backing is so soft and grippy it's just begging to be held everytime I happen to look at it. This is how phones should be made, not with aluminium or plastic or metal or glass or other fancy materials. Another great thing about WP, even after almost a year and a half, the performance is still top notch. You really do not need the fastest and latest quad-core/octa-core processor 2/4/8 GB rams to run your phones people.

  • is there such a thing as 8gb 8x? someone is trying to sell one to me and he specified it's only 8gb.

  • Hi Farhan, You can get the FM radio once you update your phone software. GDR3 update available for HTC 8X you can update your phone for more features. Thanks.

  • Try this: 1. Plug in your HTC 8X to your PC 2. In your PC, the windows phone desktop s/w will open(note: you should install this s/w), click browse phone/files option. 3. Open the phone folder and search for WhatsApp folder 4. Now copy the videos/music files from your PC and Paste inside the WhatsApp folder 5. Plug out your HTC 8X -> goto WhatsApp -> select the group/person with whom you would like to share 6. click attach icon -> From attach media section select albums -> Sel WhatsApp folder -> select video/music file -> click send icon.

  • Fornt camera? Better than VGA of samsung not at all , i find it even better than i phone 5s you can compare on youtube videos, for youtube at get metro tube best app

  • Hi mate! To be honest, I never used front cam! :) Don't think video call quality can be a dealbreaker for anyone. For Youtube, try with myTube app! It's not free, but is brilliant and I use it every day for watching Youtube. As for the batt... You have milions of posts down there about it (some are mine), where is everything explained. Cheers!

  • the YouTube app wont be the same its windows not android. lol.

  • hi guys,i use this mobile for 2 days but the front camera is very bad, video call quality is worst, even vga camera of Samsung is better than its 2mp front camera.why it is so ? second the YouTube is also not same as in other android devices and third, the battery is worst, these all problems are only with my phone or common with this device.

  • hopefully yeah, same time with the release on lumia devices

  • Video call over 3G is not natively supported by windows phone OS. So as it's a windows phone, it will not support video calling over 3G network.

  • Will HTC 8x support video calling through 3G network? My Question is Not through 3 party application like Skype

  • Excited about the WP 8.1 aka 'Blue' update to be released on Apr'14, will be great if 8X receives the update too(I'm having a devilish smile while I wrote that stmt). As far as the news about the 8.1 is concerned, Windows is reaching out to all the current WP8 devices;)

  • I think that no one knows that. But, as things are today, every WP8 phone will get WP8.1. So, I guess and hope that 8x will be among them.

  • Will htc 8x gets the windows phone 8.1. If yes then when it will get?

  • Will HTC 8x gets the windows phone 8.1 update. If yes then when?

  • on flipart bst phone

  • =? $?

  • Great phone, i really appreciated that there is no lag in windows phone compared to android gadgets, trying to upgrade mine now on amber, other than my storage issue ( i got htc8x 8gig, pre owned bought in an on-line selling site )which can be settled by file management, everything is great from resolution, wifi/data net speed, camera and sounds, hopefully won't have any problem after post amber upgrade. i will never regret having windows phone, from htc hd7 to my 8x experience, it's all great, maybe users should learn more technically to appreciate these windows devices

  • From Balecha Stores located at Basement floor of Express Avenue.

  • from where you got it for 20500rs only? can ou plzzzz tell

  • you are joking right if not you dont know to review!

  • Hey there, First, this phone will make others head turn. Second, It's battery lasts longer than Micromax, Samsung and iPhones. believe me, just Go for it!

  • I bought it for INR 20,500/-. All my frndz, cousins and nieces who use Androids and iOS are jealous!

  • What's the price of hTc 8x in India ?

  • Hi mate! You can go for 8x. I have it for about 4 months, it is my 1st WP. At first, after using Android, it was strange and I spent some time to adopting. But, I can tell that in that 4 months, I am very satisfied! There is room for WP8 to grow and to advance, but it getting better every day and I would never go back to Android! Batt life is ok. I am a heavy user with internet, mail, some office and social networking. I don't play games. Batt lasts about 15 hrs for me. I am satisfied with it. For a daily use, I don't need anything else and I plan to stay on WP8.

  • Sure man! When I was buying a phone, the only thing I was looking for is to shoot quality videos in concerts and parties. :) You're great! :D

  • I am thinking about buying HTC Windows Phone 8X. I wanted to ask about the performance and battery timing and things like that about it. In general day to day usage of this phone. Can someone who uses this phone give me a brief response ?

  • Warning! do not buy this phone if you're planning on shooting a lot of videos at party / concerts. Sound recording in video mode is too distorted to be usable. See below:

  • I'm very happy with my HTC WP8X after 6 months. It´s not the best phone in the world, but WP8 is ok for daily use and screen is superb. Fre apps are enough if you are not a friki in videogames. Very smooth touch, good speed, excelent and easy camera, read more ...

  • Thanks Mate, absolutely enjoying my HTC 8X aka Accord!

  • Btw, congrat on GDR3 update! :)

  • I don't think you could disable suggestions. But, why would you do that? Updates are good as they improve apps and fix bugs if there is any. Just let them be and when you're on wifi, update all. :)

  • Hi Guys, Everytime I open app store, I find updates for apps. Like 1 update for Whatsapp, 1 update for Converter, I want to turn off/disable auto updates/update suggestion. Any help is appreciated.

  • After updating to GDR2, I turned off my wifi, waited for 1 whole day, next day turned on my wifi went to Settings->Phone Update->clicked on Check for updates. Done, after ~20-25 mins I had GDR3!

  • Hi mate! What was your previous sf version? Did you have Data sense before? If not, after upgrade, make a backup and reset your phone. You should see it then. If you had it already, new upgrade should be just a minor bug fixes...

  • Hi all, I updated my HTC 8X and the current OS version is 8.0.10327.77. However, I don't see any additional features in my phone. Everything is same as it was before. Any plsssss advice. Thnx in advance.

  • Yes, it blocks background tasks. Also, I suggest you to turn off Bluetooth when not using it. Also, tap+send (NFC) and location should be turned off when not in use. You can download wifi live tile app (I downloaded it when it was free, I think now it's paid) and put it to start screen so you can disable wifi when you're not home. I suggest you to download aplication called App Deals. It provide cool paid apps for free almost every day, so you can find some great stuff. Cheers and good luck!

  • Go For HTC 8x It Is Da Best ,,, It Is Compared To 920 Not 820 So Go For HTC 8x

  • HTC 8X anyday, built quality, beats audio quality, battery backup, great camera, brilliant display retina beating 342 ppi pixel density, and best of all its a phone that fits well in your hand, unlike other samsung or nokia phones, excellent design. • GDR2 date brings FM to Windows Ph 8 devices. Get that update first Then just go to music tab

  • HTC 8X is perfect for the hands. And screen resolution is 16:9 HD. ALthough Lumia series are 15:9. Battery is great, added with Update 3. Battery issues are common since htc batteries are built-in that they tend to leak or do unusual situations, but you can always report it or return it to the shop and ask for a replacement until battery satisfaction is met (for me is it can last at least 2 days standby, at least 1 day texts and mails, i charge twice a day. :) you get the pattern). The only downside on this phone, actually HTC, is the lack of support and apps, i guess they'd just given up Windows Phone 8 Support, unlike in WP7 which I think that they started the trend in terms of phone availability. PS, beats audio rocks. \m/

  • v - you should update it at least GDR2 to get radio

  • can someone teachme hot to activate FM radio on this phone? million thanx:):)

  • Hai! yesterday I bought htc windows phone 8x. Phone is beautiful. But I can't understand how to block un necessary calls in this phone like as nokia lumia series. Please help me how to block incoming calls in this phone. Thanq

  • Hi to all, Bought htc8x a week back. No problems till now. Reasonable battery time of 24 hours with 1.5 hours of talk time and 1 hour of wifi browsing. Charging time is 2.5 hours. Excellent screem resolution. A must buy. I recently switched from android 4.2.2 and I am not missing anything till now. Windows phones are not as bad as comments on websites.

  • Htc 8x is a lot better than Nokia 720.....the most beautiful phone in the ugly crowd.Top notch hardware and beats audio .just turn off NFC and the apps you are not using and get a great battery life.. I bought one brand new just for 259 dollars from mobile city....my best phone in 4 years

  • Belive me HTC 8X is awesome ,, just go for it..

  • Believ me this smartphone is aweesome,,,, just go for it...

  • I am going to buy this phone... tel me is it ok to buy?

  • which 1 is best? htc 8x or nokia lumia 720 plzz i'm waiting 4 u'r reply buddyzzzz.........

  • I have this phone for 2 weeks now and I loooove it! The screen is perfect for me, not very big, greaaat resolution and density, colors are just fine, and perfect viewing angles, The design is eye catching, very good to hold in the hand. Runs smoothly all the time, and handles very well the biggest videogames out there ;) (I'm a hardcore player and this is just enough, no need for quad cores). Call quality is perfect, never had problems. My first Windows Phone and I'm loving it. APPS: HAS EVERYTHING ANYONE NEEDS! almost 300.000 apps and games, why do you need more? It doesn't have crap apps like android. Microsoft really selects only the good stuff. Camera e top, I don't need more than 8 pixels. Handles al the situations well, and easy to change settings. Only downside: power button is not easy to press. But if you use a case with a button thing, it improves ;)

  • i agree with you. bought one yesterday and i am already in love....smooth like butter...best design ever...great camera...beats audio beats every other phone on the shelf...battery ok..display great at 342 ppi... i got it only for 259 dollars from mobileciti. i am a happy man today

  • which phone in best htc or lumia....?????

  • It started giving trouble post installing phone updates. It's a good phone to use, as long as it works well. But, some technical glitches do exist. Better, not to go for this phone and regret later.

  • Does it use a memory card?

  • I am using this phone for about last 6 months. It is really a very great experience using this phone. The rear camera really takes amazing pictures. Its memory is also enough for a user like me 16 GB is not a joke. Its sleek design really attract my friends. Its speed is really very fast

  • i have experience with 8x from 4 months It have so many disadvantage, # When you video recoding you do not zoom in/zoom out # You dont play flv, avi, dat, wmv format # Memory is very low/no card slot ,any time u delete data for working them eg. in video rec. # In file manager u never see video & personal files # No voice recording support # Mostly Apps are paid u dont download free, like android ADVANTAGE # Screen quality is best , eg. bightness # Camera quality is also best, clear photo in without zoom # Looking awesome, beautiful, in without cover in ur hands. regards adityakr9192gmail.com

  • hey, I got this phone the moment I turned it on the screen had runny pixels. I thought it as a battery problem but after I charged it. It became worse. There as a line in the middle of the screen. I found a video on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX0AgMKUGZ0) of someone with the same problem. I as wondering if this a recurring problem or If I just got a defective phone. Has anyone had this problem?

  • I'm using the HTC 8x. The problem is that the updates are not fast as Nokia phones. I suggest the you invest on a 1gig RAM phone like Lumia 920 because it will maximize your gaming as well as the functions of the phone.

  • Hey dude! :) I had a lot of phones, many of them were androids. 8x is my first WP8. To tell you the truth, platform still has a room for improvements, but it runs very well! No lagging like Android and in my opinion live tiles look great! Batt backup is ok. It will last for a day if normal use (calls, sms, viber and mail, internet). If batt is draining fast, you should check Background tasks in Settings and disable ones you don't need. Build quality is great. As I said, everything could be better, but I am satisfied and I don't think to return on Android again.

  • Using from two months.. Very good and handy. Battery 15-18 hours on 2G/3G

  • hey dude's today eveng am gng to buy HTC 8X. Can anyone tel me is it rit mobile to buy compare wit other mobile's.???

  • Hey guys Between htc 8x and lumia 820 which one is better in offline navigation???

  • No, it' not. It blinks red when batt is low, red when it's charging, green when it's charged. Sadly, nothing for missed events.

  • Hello htc 8x users In this phone Led indicator available for missed call and sms or not????

  • microsoft support HTC 8x now? and update its OS?

  • I am owner two of HTCs, First one - HTC ONE S and the second one HTC 8X. First of all, the Android for phones is much better OS for phones than Windows 8 for phones. Windows is not usersfriendly at all, the additional functions as WI-FI, Bluetooth is much harder to set, they are also separated in menu....etc..etc... And second time, HTC ONE S is much much better as a phone also in comparenes with 8X.

  • I got bought this phone 3 days a go, the battery life is very low, it need to be charged 2 times a day.

  • If u need an offline navigation the 820 is better than 8x.

  • Hi Mahsa good Question, in fact i was same you and wanted to buy Lumia 820 but if you compare point to point you realize HTC is better If you had more questions just ask me my yahoo ID: [email protected]

  • Where can I buy 230 euros this

  • please help me!!!!!!! lumia 820 or 8x ???? which one suport well??? nokia or htc ???? which is better lumia 820 or 8x ??? help plz please contact with me by : [email protected]

  • Best phone i ever used. Beautiful colors, great performance, great sound quality. CONGRATULATIONS HTC!!!

  • Some cons: 1. scratches easily 2. no alpha numeric search for dialling screen, you have to remember the phone number of the person to dail.

  • most beautiful phone that i see..very soft touch and powerful performance..great screen and sound.. great job htc.

  • poooooooor phone I am depressed with wp its poor app. and usless software nothing practical in wp. my opinian is all operATION system batter than wp but htc is great with another operation system

  • It is a great phone, but htc does not support it as nokia does with the 820. Microsoft gives the same support to both phones. I think you will not missed much when you choose the 8x only a few of the exclusive Nokia apps will be missing. The WP experience is surely the same across all windows phone.

  • Yes the app store is really lacking. Thus my comment that if you are adventurous then WP8 is for you. Try using it for some time as it has a bit of a learning curve. I even tried installing a Facebook App at first, then removed it since it wasn't actually needed. Everything is in the people's menu (true it looks a bit diferent from the actual Facebook experience). But unifying all accounts in the people's app makes it easier. The phone is not perfect, but for me it is better than my Galaxy SIII. Note: I am a software developer by profession, so I do have productivity apps in my phone. Its the well known games that are lacking in WP Store. Good luck on your new phone. And try to give it a chance first, maybe an update of the OS and a couple of weeks of learning and hopefully you would love it. Note: I've always been an early adopter. As in my previous comments I've been using Android way back in version 1.6 and during that time, it only had 60T apps in the their store (it wasn't called Play yet back then - the name just escapes me right now, it seems so long ago). And back then I saw the potential of Android even with their lacking apps. Right now, after experiencing WP8, I see the potential of this O.S. And give it a few years and their Apps with catch. I may be wrong though.

  • Go 4 da hTC

  • After 24hrs of using this phobe, I must say I am little dissapointed. It looks great, have a great screen, even batt backup is ok. Store is where it's lacking behind Android. Internet explorer is s..t when you compare it to Chrome. Another major thing is that it don't have any file explorer. I'll use it for some time, try to get used on it, but I think I'll soon be back to Android. It's shame because I think WP8 have a lot of potential. Waithing for updates... :)

  • Hey guys , I don't know something , and that's ; that I should choose Lumia 820 or this ? Does Windows Microsoft Support HTC like Nokia or not ? In Iran Lumia 820 is more expensive then HTC Windows Phone 8X , Please Help Me ! [email protected] [email protected] thank you !

  • update Win Os (Start>Settings>phone update) After 3 updates you will be able to listen Radio, which u will find in Music folder.

  • I can't thank you enough for your reply! :) I am a bit bored by Android. Have the latest version, put this launcher, that launcher, this app, that app. Honestly, I have only about 50 apps on phone and all of them are productivity/office/mail/root apps. I am not interested in games, except Carmageddon, only one that I have, but could live without. So, I am going for 8x. I like live tiles and simplicity of WP8. Thanks again mate!

  • I switched from Samsung Galaxy SIII to HTC 8X. And at the same time, I also have the iPhone 5 running IOS7 as my second phone (I have two phone lines). The battery on the HTC 8X isn't that much to rave about but it isn't that bad too. I have my Cellular Data turned on and I have the LTE version (but limited my max speed to 3G -since my plan is only up to 3G). My Wifi is also always on. And it is only my Bluetooth which I turned off. I basically do the same thing in my old Samsung SIII with my HTC 8X and so far the Samsung SIII has a slight edge in battery life. One thing you do have to change though is to turn off NFC (it is turned on by default). Android and IOS seems have NFC turned off by default. So I don't know why WP8 has it turned ON by default. Given that my usage is the same (surfing, mail, syncing of contacts/calendars, etc. facebook), it would last me for a day (at around 30% remaining battery by 8PM). Applications are still lacking, especially the more popular games. Productivity apps though are ok. Especially with the Office app. If you are adventurous, you might want to try the HTC 8X (windows 8 phone). But if you are not, then I would suggest waiting for a while until their apps in their store grow. I remember way back (Android 1.6) when people would complain that it lacks the apps versus IOS. I still got the Android Phone because I liked its OS. But now Android eventually caught up. WP8 will eventually catch up (in the number of apps). For me, what I liked about the WP8 is the metro tiles! I kind of hate it on my notebook, but loved it on my ultraportable convertible notebook/tablet. And now I also love it on my phone. The Peoples Tile/App is also very useful. One click and you can access Facebook/Twitter and other social networking sites. And you can see it as a tile in your WP. This is much like the widgets of Android, but is more integrated into the OS. IOS has no counterpart in this one. So far am loving my HTC 8X and will continue to post more feedback on the HTC 8x.

  • Hi guys! I have Optimus 4x and thinking about switch from Android to WP. And I like 8x. How's battery life on it? Did someone here switch from Android? Is WP8 platform groving? Thanks in advance!

  • When you update your phone to GDR2, the FM Radio will be available.

  • The specs on the this site say it has an FM Radio but I can find no place else that says that. Actually I have read many reviews that say it does not have one.

  • HTC 8X 16GB only is good Windows 8 PKR25,000 budget phone. Its' specs can compare with Samsung Ativ I8750 16+64GB and Nokia Lumia 920 32GB. Accept short of internal storage.

  • Depends on your area. Since Bing Maps is not yet as good as Google Maps, you can't expect much. I refuse to use GM though, and I'm pretty happy with BM, specially where you have free gps, like Berlin for example.

  • How accurate is the GPS and maps on the X? How does it compare with the Xperia M and Samsung S3 mini?

  • How accurate is the GPS and maps on the X? How does it compare with the Xperia M and Samsung S3 mini?

  • My X8 keeps showing me a grey screen. I have to take out the sim and put it back in again before I can use it.Any suggestions.

  • My phone's lighting was fading out so I thought I would shut down and take the battery out (before I realized you cannot remove the battery). Now all I can get is "GOODBYE" on the display. I cannot use this phone in any way. It seems to be locked! What do I do? HELP!!!! I am ready to toss out the window!

  • I tried to shut down my phone and for some reason it is stuck with "goodbye" on the screen. Cannot use it in any way, seems locked. Help please. I'm ready to toss it out the window. MJT

  • Thank you buddies, you have clear my choice by ur kind opinions about that htc 8x.

  • Thank you buddies, you have clear my choice by ur kind opinions about that htc 8x.

  • It is available

  • Best WP ever seriously, Nokia Lumia 920/925 had so many issues. I love you HTC

  • I changed from Lumia 925 to 8x.. I love 8x... It feels more premium and its got better camera and speakers

  • So good

  • i am intrested in buying windows phone but i am confused between HTC 8X and NOKIA LUMIA 920 please some one suggest me .........

  • IS good

  • IS good

  • At windowsphone.com i saw it, the app (for comp) is called windows phone, i downloaded it for my lumia 620 now im uising for HTC 8x

  • Fir sure, 8x

  • Well lumia's better, a 41 mp camera is no joke, plus Nokia has made apps specially for windows phone, these can really be handy, creative studio, panorama, such features not available on HTC

  • how to update to amber?

  • Ok question has anyone had problems with the phone shutting down on them for no reason at all even when your battery is not dead?

  • Almost evry Nokia newest apps, like "Here Drive+","Here Maps".And evan "Nokia Pro Cam",(if you have installed new GDR2 Microsoft update).Only thing that you must have is preinstall program "Fiddler" on your Windows 8 PC.Off course over Net circular other versions they do the same thing...

  • this is an awesome phone . it also has MS 8 which is very speedy .

  • The only problem i had with this phone was it's internet connection. For a few weeks i couldn't do anything on it.Mtn couldn't even fix the problem.

  • hey guys .. Was just wondering, what nice apps can one download for this device?

  • check the SARs value and you will know why htc 8x is better over lumia

  • Its not possible. Windows phone 8 OS is comes with lots of restrictions. You must use WiFi for Downloading apps more than 50MB, no matter whether you use 3G or 4G... I don't know what's the logic of this restriction.

  • The 8X is way better. Picture unlock is not available.

  • Native: no. Via Skype: yes.

  • This phone is a nightmare. Just after a few days of buying it, it switched off and then after many hard resets it started switching on and off constantly. Sent it for repair and after a month, just got a brand new one. With EXACTLY the same problem. Not switching on. I've seen this problem many times across the internet; unfortunately, I don't have much experience to comment on the mobile's features as it was working only for a couple of days. It was super fast though..

  • can any one tell me how to download apps which are more then 50 MB on HTC 8X..using Data allowances as it gives me the options only to do that using Wifi...

  • Does this phone support video calling?

  • Which phone would be better? HTC 8X or Galaxy Express i8370? And can you use pictures to unlock it(8x)rather than a 4_digit pin?

  • I have HTC 8X , it fall in 1 meter height and its display LCD was crashed , Gorilla Glass 2 is pure joke

  • Well its just a matter of choice, i have an 8x, and its great, Lumia is, in my opinion, too heavy and thick. And when they say that Lumia has a better touchscreen, its not true, 8x is amazing. Pictures have more natural colors, touch focus is great for close up photographying. The front 2.1mp camera shoots great photos with a really wide angle. And the main reason i got to WP is because its safe from viruses comparing to Android phones. I would definitely suggest 8x over Lumia 920 ;)

  • U r absolutely right atul... Only a techie can understand the value of windos phone

  • ROFL.... Dude its just a phone... Not a computer... And windows phone doesn't have file manager... You can download and install apps only from windows store...

  • Does "pirated tally" work on this phone?

  • where is file manager/file explorar/my computer in HTC 8x

  • What do you think is much better? Nokia Lumia 820 or HTC Windows Phone 8x?

  • I never had these issues

  • 16GB is more than enough on Windows OS, because Windows OS doesn't have a lot of applications. I love this phone it does everything for me

  • dhen u wish to buy htc 1x 32 gb

  • Hai friend you will download the zune software on net but you will face a problem that the zune software size is 270 mb but you will download only 100mb,so ,try it that which website can submit the full version ,,,,,,,,,bye

  • is 16 gb internal storage enough?

  • You can download Zune from Microsoft web site.

  • from where can i get its pc connecting software

  • ıt ıs best phone dont eat pokh!

  • expect it on a smartphone heating/overheating.

  • I soon buy this phone, but i heard about freezing problems, random reboot and over heating. does anyone experience about these problems?

  • Great phone & value. WP is lean & smooth.

  • 1. Stop listening to kids..they are foolish 2. Win PH 8 on HTC 8X is ia awsome .... your phone is amazing. U just havent learnt how to use it Patience and u will be fine

  • Got this phone to do debugging at work and I'm impressed with the beauty of the Windows Phone UI. I makes iOS and Android feel outdated. The phone materials feels great and look amazing. I as many other people have distrust toward MS software, but I think this guys are doing it right this time. Battery life seems a bit short, 24 hours or so.

  • The most.... Worst mobile device... After 20 days.... Is dead.... Also service is terrible in Athens Greece.... I want my money back.....

  • hi. yes, it gets the job done: calls, sms, pictures, web, email. if you are not connected the web by 3g all the time, the battery should last more than a day. i have the blue model. the edges darkened as i have put and pulled it out of my jeans many times. it gives the phone some character but may be irritating to some. ive had mine for more than half a year and im still happy with it.

  • the beats enhancement only works when u jack an eaphone or headphone. it will turn on automatically.

  • 1) Is there "in device" search 2) Is the calendar feature as good as fully functional PDA

  • Can you please tell me more about build quality? Is it good? Someone says that htc 8x is poor quality at the edges of display, is it true? Please answer me and sorry for my English.

  • Very nice...but if anyone can helpe the hedphone donn work w beats aduio off wana make it on

  • Its nice phone...but beats aduio turn off i donn know how make it,om

  • it is have internet sharing

  • If you still love windows, Go for Lumia 920 and if you want some change, then the best android phone out in the market is Htc one....

  • is there wifi hotspot 4 winphone 8?

  • The Amber update is a Nokia Update... other OEM's call this Update of the GDR2... fix this information please...

  • Is it still worth to buy this phone right now? It's almost 1 year old model, but the price in eBay Australia is quite cheap.

  • I bought this phone in India Feb 2013 and using in Saudi Arabia till now. During these 6 months it hung up three times. every time i took it to under warranty service center, they formatted and returned to me. Nobody explains me the reason of this repeated hangups. once it hangs up I am helpless, as I can not even remove the battery. Another issue; I am not able to find an app for cheap internet phone calling supporting windows phone. my 21 years old son tells me " Baba! Is it windows phone, through it out of window" But I love looks and friendliness of a window phone. Now I want to go for Nokia Lumia, if it hangs up again. Is it good idea or shall I switch over to Android?

  • can the unremovability of battery cause any problem??? for example if it hang

  • Had this phone a few days now and the battery is brill for me i get longer than what it says in battery saver and that's from only charging it twice like a few of the htc apps that u don't even get on android htc device, not keen on how the music app works but can cope with that and the default browser is abit naff but ain't all default browsers! 8 out of 10

  • u shud bout just radio and it has a cost only 1$.. im not a jocking just showkd on ur poor thot

  • With the new update for 8x you get the radio ;)

  • hi i just bout this phone and i tried to install a tun-able fm radio app but every time i tried i get a message that this phone or windows 8 phone don't support radio but i really need the radio so if any one could help it will be great "i need a tun-able radio not online one" Thx

  • i just bought that phone and i tried a lot to install a tun-able fm radio but every time i got a message that the windows 8 phone doesnot support fm radio but i really need the radio so if any one could help it will be great

  • Check for last updates. Since february it was 3 updates already. One of them fixing crashes. by the way, the lat update downloaded by me one hour ago. i hope Skype double call in parallel with delay on smartphone and desctop PC was fixed. This bag realy driving me crazy. By the way, last update adding radio as app to Win 8, so you can plug in your headphones and listening to the radio. Full update history here:

  • I had mine since February. I should've taken it back straight away. Even though the OS is up to date, when I receive calls it sometimes restarts. The battery drain is something chronic. I have had to change the way I use it. My Iphone 4S was better at battery life than this. I don't really even use my phone any more but now I am forced to use it as a business phone got active sync set up on it to manually sync, battery is good if you don't use phone!!!! I also had hardware problems where it wouldn't turn on. It took me 2 hours one day to get it turned on. Windows phones are awesome, but I wouldn't recommend this model to anyone

  • I ran into this but only with a car charger. Plugging it into the provided charger and USB cable stopped the bootloop. Took about 5 minutes for the battery to get enough juice to fully boot past the battery charging screen.

  • Your choice is right...windowing phone

  • this phone gets any update from microsoft?

  • Yes this is a very good phone to get, the longer i've had it the more features i learn about the better and better it gets

  • Anyone else facing Bootlooping?. seems as the battery is totally dead. only starts looping when pluged in. hardware or software fault?

  • 820 has a 480x800 screen (really low resolution), 8X has HD screen, really better

  • Please help to set phone that it recognises previoussly used WIFI and reconnects automatically

  • No it is plastic body

  • So is this a good phone to get

  • I got the at&t version of this phone, and I guess they got a lot of the issues fixed before they released it a lot of the problems that are expressed I do not have, I have 16g of memory, I have mobile hotspot, sound quality is great, the app store is more than enough, sure droid and ios have a bigger app store but how much of it do you really use, battery life is so so, mine last with more than average use about 16-20 hours before needing a charge, the lockscreen does have optional shortcut keys that u can set, comes equipped with FM radio, does have att voice navigation, and also equipped with astro file manager, which isn't system wide but is a file manager none the less, as far as an equalizer it does not have one you can manually adjust, but it does come with Beats audio and you have the option to turn this off, as an android user for the past 3 years, the switch to windows phone was an easy transition and I do love and recommend this phone.

  • then why u have taken windows, u have to think about apple

  • android is an open source market which has tons of applications but I like HTC Hardware.

  • Fantastic build quality but worse os. It should be an android phone.

  • I have this phone and it is very stable. The only problem is that there is a lack of good applications for WP. If you want tons of apps choose android.

  • I am about to buy HTC 8x, but i am not sure about the windows phones , can any one advice me??? WP or Android??

  • I'm biggest HTC Fan.And I wanted to say that HTC is the best designable mobile brand but it also has some weakness. The weakness is that It does not think well when release a flagship of its year.Just look at the HTC One "Best in Class 2013".I'm impressed with its features like Ultra pixels,Boomtech sound,Zoe,Screen,Performance and design. The Neglibility of HTC in releasing the flagship is that it do not support Expandable storage,User interface of HTC One,One X,One S,etc.,waterproof technology, etc., and a battery life.Due to this problems the HTC Lacks behind in every year.I know that it is well defined brand but do not give much power to its flagship. The Apple is not better than the HTC but of popularity of people it rises.Just compare the iPhone 5 with HTC Desire S,Desire V,Desire X and Desire 600.The HTC's are have better function and apps better than iPhone 5.The HTC Desires has same weight of iPhone 5 but the HTC's do not have popularity due to low battery life.People like iPhones more better but I like HTC more better. The HTC should design the next flagship like HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE which is also competitor of iPhone 5 and I compared them and the Droid Incredible is better. My Father has iPhone 5 which I didn't find any useful function in it,It is just standard but cool in looks.By using the weakness of HTC like user interface should be so cool in which a person shocked to see the home screen and Application menu.HTC can be at the top of S4,iPhone 5S,etc.So,I want HTC to release a another flagship in next or this year which do not leave any MicroSD Card Slot,Water proof,Cool User interface not like the iPhones or Samsung,Long battery life, superior design,Ultrapixels of HTC One,Boomtech sound,Zoes.By this functions the HTC could be in the top of the eyes of peoples.Love you HTC.I hope you follow this instructions.Thank you.

  • M buying a new phone n confused bwn htc 8x and samsung grand which one to buy?

  • Have You this fone in yours hand ???

  • Worst looking smartphone

  • No, sorry but you cannot install GoLauncher here for a number of reasons. First of all Windows Phone does not allow alternative homescreens or launchers of any kind. This is one reason many people prefer Android for its ability to be customised. Secondly, GoLauncher is an Android app. It consists of an APK installer file. It is easy to just decide that all apps are just mobile apps but these are not the same in any way. An Android app won't run on IOS or WP8 in the same way an IOS app won't run on Android and a WP8 app won't run on a Blackberry. Hope that helps.

  • For windows - .xap file

  • Hah, I have one of these and after 24 hours of a few phone calls and some surfing - and email every 15 minutesm, it is still at 75+% capacity. It lasts fine.

  • My Iphone 4s overheates after 1 game if played for more then 15 mins...

  • Saw this phone today. Looked very cool and sleek. I've just looked it up here and found an endurance rating of 31 hrs. That marks the end of my interest.

  • Switch to android

  • I've had this phone for half a year now and I'm still utterly in love. I've gradually seen the app availability become better and see existing apps be improved. The phone's great performance takes no steps back at all with time and the battery life is great with pretty heavy use. The camera makes good to great photos (I often prefer it over a digital camera in daylight). The operating system itself is much better than its computer counterpart. I've experienced no severe crashes or malfunctions of any kind at all. This phone is as solid as it is graceful and stylish. Trust me when I say: you want this one!

  • why do you compare windows and iOS with android. Android sucks big time. windows is better any day

  • May be I'm being dumb, does it have call summary letting me know how long I stayed on the phone? If yes, where can I turn it on? One more thing, it just restarts by itself.

  • You have yourself confused with the 8s..the 8X is 8mp...

  • the camera is 8mp you can change this setting on the camera app on the phone...

  • its 8mp not 5, htc 8s is 5mp camera. get your facts straight before making assumptive messages on here

  • Nope, you are wrong, it's 8MP. I know because I bought this phone :)

  • dear guys it camera is only 5Mp so pls clear every thing before online deals.................

  • Um what it the next version

  • Beautiful mobile comfortable to hold durable very long battery life and massive screen super powerful hardware. Very fast. Something wrong with downloading some content.

  • The next upgrade of this beautiful HTC Windows Phone 8X should have atleast the following additions to its current existing features: More internal storage since it HTC isnt big on Memory Card Slots (i.e. 32GB & 64GB) Wi-Fi hotspot DLNA Infrared Port (Universal Remote) Gyro Sensor Stereo FM radio with RDS 2000+ mAh Li-Po battery I can assure you there is a very good and sizable market willing to pay extra $dollar$ to have this features of their next HTC windows phone. I am one of them!! Please maintain the same build quality, design and colour options. The look and feel is remarkably brilliant. It undoubtedly has got the elegant and executive swag!

  • Someone stole my phone HTC 8X how cn i trace it?This phone number one

  • At mobile9.com

  • i use this phone for over 2 months now, and the hardware is not that bad ! But windows software is really bad ! I hate it , stupid things all over. Your always pushing your volume key's in your pocket , and your sound is on zero ..?? can't lock it anywhere! And a lot more of those things all around. Those tiles in your home screen is stupid, windows is a real bummer ! You can't make good changes in your settings menu.. you don't have good app's. The stupid scroll down menu to show your battery is always up , so you can't c the battery .. pfff i hate this phone so much , and it's just because the windows software. Htc did a pretty good job with the hardware tho !

  • where i can download applications for this phone?

  • Is this phone can support adobe flash player ?

  • Yes

  • this phone can support Microsoft silverlight ?

  • i saw and touch the dummy of the phone its really nice

  • better performance then s3

  • fantastic handset... love it...

  • Was very happy with the Windows X8 until about 6 months into service it stoped recieving texts with media content attached and would not allow the user to send media content as well. Phone loses batter life quickly. Has problems with connecting to internet for downloads. Drops calls and will freeze when playing games or browsing internet. I will go back to an IPhone never had any issues.

  • Super phone.More faster than Galaxy S3.Best quality from HTC.Super design.Super speaker.Super display.Music is great.Super hardware.Buy it.Never regret.I forget my S3 on the desk.Congratulations HTC !!!

  • Very desappointed of this device. WP8 is boring by design and missing even simple things. Microphone is weak, and make harder to your opponent to hear you. Sound vise versa is strong, and clear. Quality of pictures and video picture is very good, but (remember microphone?) record sound is bad as it hell: not clear at all!!! Not comfortable to handle it, 'couse slim adges. Display very clear and contrast. Restarts without reason on incoming call (in two week happened twice) when you tap "Answer". Here in Israel problems with acessories. Averall 3 point from 5. P.S. Microsoft services (s.a. map, location, search) very poore. Missing my Google!!! Gonna by another phone soon, definitely not WP8.

  • IS Microsoft gonna stop supporting WP8 by the next year ?

  • It is normal for mobile phones.

  • Hey gsmarena, is that a fair assessment? The likes of Samsung and Apple don't seem to hurt on ratings regardless of reviews. Why is that?

  • can any one let me now how to configure ibm lotus notes 8 in htc windows 8x

  • Htc x8 is a nice phone but after 2 or 3 games it is overheating.is it normal for smartphones?.

  • the only thing that interest me about this phone is that it have the loudest headphones output on the market with built-in special amplifier made by beats, like nokia n91 had harman-kardon. it is louder and stronger on headphones than all ipads, even louder than ipad 4. i use sony xb 700 and 800 headphones with it and i think i have the club in my head. and the display is superb

  • You know son,I get a full day on full charge, with using Wi-fi,calling and what not...and there were times that I was talking with my handsfree and playing games at the same time and it didn't get that hot as you were mentioning. overall it's a really great phone, absolutely eye catching design, built by really great high quality materials that is a joy to get your hands on... the only downside is that WP is still doesn't have some of the best apps that android or iOS has,but I'm happy with my 8x ;)

  • hi guys.. I start using 8x about 2 weeks now.greatest htc creation..but unfortunately my battery won't stay more than 8hours.incase if i use bluetooth or wi-fi it last for 6hours.. worst thing is if i talk more than 30mins it start heating up like crazy.i can't even hold the phone in my hand..so now i'm bit worried about it and don't know what do though i'm in 24months contract :(

  • I prefer 8s as it is half the price of 8x and i don't browse web a lot on phone. so retina is not required. moreover, i don't play games so in built memory is not important. 8s most disadvantage is that it only has 1gb of user memory and apps cannot store on sd card

  • Battery question! I have X8 for about 2 weeks and it works great but in last 2 days Im having problems with battery. It last only for max 8 hours!!!! Do you have any suggestion what to do? Thanks.

  • Sorry guys meant to say same league...

  • Hi is there much difference between 8s and 8x bar the CPU speeds and camera or are they not even in the same (newby) Cheers.

  • it should have micro sd card slot and dual sim capabilities then it will nice phone as per todays market requierment

  • I was also wondering the same!

  • Plenty of apps? Does it have mx and power amp player?

  • I was also wondering the same!

  • reading all these great reviews about this phone it's seriously pretty strange to see that how come it has got such low ratings when all its users are calling it sooo awesome :-/

  • After a few weeks using this phone, I can say that the HTC Windows Phone 8X has an excellent design thanks to its curved lines and monochassis colorful body, which is also great to hold. The screen has one of the highest pixel density in the market and, while it is a little bit small for today standards, it should be big enough for most users. Performance in applications and games is excellent, and Windows 8 interface moves smoothly thanks to the Snapdragon S4 dual core processor at 1.5GHz and 1GB of RAM. Unfortunately the internal storage is quite limited with only 16GB. The camera performance is quite good, also not as good as the Nokia Lumia 920 in low light conditions. If you want to see a comparison between pictures taken by HTC Windows Phone 8X, HTC One X+ and Nokia Lumia 920 check this analisis del HTC Windows Phone 8X article (text in Spanish but pictures can be easily found): Finally, its price tag makes this telephone a very attractive option for anyone looking for a Windows Phone 8 device.

  • Would you recommend for me to exchange my lg Optimus g for the htc 8x??

  • Overall it's an amazing phone. While is "only" packs a dual core krait cpu, you won't feel the difference between this and a quad core android. The experience is smooth and lagfree. As a bonus for the dual core instead of quad, the battery life is among the best, its better than my previous owned HTC ONE X. Build quality is amazing (didn't expect otherwise from HTC), and front facing camera is a jewel, no more pics in the mirror . Only con is the poor app store, but for that I blame Microsoft not HTC, hopefully will get populated this year.

  • I've been using the 8x for about two months now, using it mainly for work. It's light, fits your hand perfectly and works with out hick-ups. The most important task for me are texting, calling and e-mail and it just works without complaining. Starting with a full battery on Monday, I only need a charge on wednesday morning to see me through the week. The design is eyecatching (I've got a blue one), but still holds up in a business environment. It does look a bit clunky on the pictures, but it's really smooth when you see it in your hand. The rubberized back makes absolutely sure your don't drop it. Also very comfortable, no problems with strain on long phone calls. Windows 8 takes some getting used to, but this phone makes it fun to play and explore!

  • Damn smart smartphone!! lightweight and cool looking phone. Battery life : u don hav to worry for a day....whatever u do!!

  • This is by far one of the most beautifully crafted phones I've owned or even seen. The polycarbonate hugs the display perfectly, and its seamless and angle-less design is just perfect. The batterylife is far better than any other serious smartphone I've had, giving me two days at work without recharging. The screen is very good, although I would have preferred it just a tad bigger. Compared to the size of the phone, it feels just a tad undersized. What is there is beautiful, though. Vivid colours and no pixelation. The phone is smooth and quick in use, especially for corporate uses (email & other messaging). The cameras are definitely good enough, the wide-angle frontfacing camera being a very nice touch that actually makes you use it more. I didn't bring a camera on my last vacation and I didn't miss it. All pictures were taken with the 8X and they all turned out fine. Beats audio: I like it. Opinions may vary, but I like the fuller sound that it brings to the table. My one gripe is the on/off button. It's harder to reach than it needed to be; I'd have placed it on the right side rather than on top.

  • The best WP8 phone available! This is a superb phone, as with all HTC products, it looks stunning and feels great in your hand. It is super fast to use and the vibrant display means that the Windows 8 OS looks amazing. The cameras are excellent, particularly the front facing one as it has a good size lens and produces good images, making it a usable feature rather than just a useless add on. The battery life is comparable to any other smartphone on the market and will provide a days intensive use. The Beats Audio is another great feature and makes listening to all your favourite music and videos enjoyable. Overall this is a great looking device, with features well suited to use as a media device, the only drawback is the lack of expandable memory.

  • Ive had the 8X for about a month so Ive really had time to play around with it and I have to say it is a stunning device and a joy to use. Design: The HTC 8X is beautiful to look at and to hold(sometimes my gf gets jealous). It has a soft matte polycarbonate exterior which provides great grip and feels great in your hand. Thanks to the round thin edges you get a feeling of a premium sleek phone, which is great. Overall its a real eye catcher. OS: This was my first windows phone device and I really enjoyed the OS. Coming from a HTC One X(Android), there was no switching barrier. The OS user interface and controls are very intuitive. The look and feel is very customisable and user friendly and have subtle but beautiful effects and transitions, giving the device an overall smooth feel. Battery: The 8X sports a nice 1,800mAh battery & I found it to be just right. I am generally a power user and I would regularly get a full days use out of a single charge. On days with intensive use, this would reduce considerably so thats a downside. Apps: Coming from an android device, I was let down by the Windows app store. They have the popular apps, Facebook, Twitter and the likes but thats about it. If youre accustomed to the variety of apps available on other platforms then you may share my opinion on this one. The Windows Phone app store is still growing and fast too so I wont worry about this too much. Media: The camera quality on the 8x is superb. 8MP rear facing and 2.1MP This combination leads to impressive shots. I used the camera in bright and low light conditions(night outs) and the quality is super. The front facing camera has a wide angle lens which means you capture everyone in those group shots that we love so much. Videos are captured in full 1080p HD quality at 30fps and they look amazing when played back on the big screen. Sound on this device is backed by the Beats Audio and with a nice pair of earphones you can really tell the difference. Summary: The 8X is a beautiful device I enjoy using it. It gets top marks for design, hardware and media features but takes a hit with the battery life and lack of apps to really make it shine. The 8X is my secondary phone at the moment and Im in no hurry to jump ship from android as of now but I see Windows Phone making a big splash in the nearest future.

  • if i have HTC windows 8 how can i send a picture or songs through bluetooth please help thanks

  • HTC 8X Review Intro: When HTC announced the 8X as their flagship Windows 8 Phone, I couldn't wait. I had a LUmia 900 at the time, but found it heavy and bulky in my suit pockets. I wanted something lighter, cooler, and definitely WP8. I've been a fan of HTC since the early WM6.x days, so I picked one up as soon as they became available in Canada.. Speed: The Qualcomm 1.5Ghz dual-core CPU does a wonderful job of keeping WP8 and all my apps running smooth as silk. No hiccups or delays anywhere, no matter what I'm running. Screen: I quite like the 4.3 inch form factor. I've seen and worked with larger screens, but for my 'medium-sized' hands, it makes things difficult to use one-handed. I had the OneX for a while, and the 8x screen is great, it doesn't have the same 'pop' as the OneX. Battery: The multi-cell 1800mAh LiIon batter easily lasts through a 24 hour period on my generally light use, even with LTE and BT turned on all the time. Although the WP8 O/S does a better job of power management, I still find GPS and WiFi to be major battery burners. There's no real need for NFC here in Canada (yet), so that's been turned off and I only use WiFi when I'm at home at the end of the day for downloads, updates, etc. Camera: The 8mp main cameral is generally OK. Overall, it seems to be similar to the one in my OneX, but the pictures don't seem quite as crisp. It struggles in low light situations. The front facing wide-angle lens is great for including more friends and environment in sharing pictures, but it makes it difficult to get a realistic view of just yourself -- looks like you're shooting with a fish-eye lens. Sound: Generally, the sound is pretty good, with solid sound coming from the speakers which work well even in noisy situations. The in call volume coming from the earpiece is good, but callers are sometimes difficult to hear in noisy situations, especially outdoors. Volume using the speakerphone is fine. I find the Beats Audio (which works only on plugged-in headphones -- why not BT stereo headphones??) is too heavy at the low end. It's almost like too wide a spectrum is being emphasized, but without the bass end lacks 'sparkle' and precision. Recorded Audio with video is OK, but gets mushy and distorted in loud situations (I think the 8X needs a better compression algorithm) Video: The 8X easily plays all the major formats and resolutions with ease. There were no sync problems between audio and video. Recorded video is good, but the auto-focus struggles and is slow, and again there are problems with low light situations. Exterior and Build Quality: With Microsoft's mandatory button placements for Windows Phones, it's hard to for manufacturers to find a way to differentiate themselves. HTC has done a great job with the 8X in making a sleak, easy-to-handle handset which is very good looking as well. The colours (mine is California Blue) attract attention and help them stand out in a crowd. (My teenage son though, prefers the non-descript black :-) I've always been impressed with HTC's build quality and the 8X is no exception. Others have mentioned problems with colour wearing off on the corners, but I haven't seen any of this in the three months I've had the phone, but mine spends most of its time in business attire, not jeans. Apps provided by HTC: This is an area where HTC needs to apply more energy. With the O/S experience being pretty well identical on all WP phones, the best way to stand out is with the app suite available from the manufacturer or the cellular provider. The HTC portion of the WP Store is pretty weak, especially compared to the variety and quality of apps provided by other manufacturers. Overall: This is one powerful phone. It's a joy to hold and own and is definitely at the head of the current pack of WP8 phones. I love it!

  • This is a great all around phone. I was kinda worried about coming from an android phone, but the ability to have most of the android capibilities on a Windows phone. i had all my music and email accounts from my android phone and could find most apps for the 8x as I did on my android phone. The camera has great quaility and plenty of apps for that too. It's got a 1.5ghz dual processor that makes playing games and surfing the web smooth and fluid. I would recommend this phone to anybody looking for the cutting edge in Windows 8 phone

  • I have had this phone for about 6 weeks now and I think its superb, looks so cool, fits nicely in your hand, the shape of it makes it feel a lot slimmer than it actually is. Great sounding Beats audio, if you like listening to music on your phone. The camera takes amazing shots, and an extra wide 2MP front facing camera to get all your pals in that all important photo. Battery lasts well, about a day and a half with normal usage. Well recomended!

  • A simple smartphone with character The first Windows Phone 8 smartphone coming to market is always a liability. And we can say that HTC and quickly grabbed this opportunity well. Focusing on hardware me, and leaving only a few small lines for the OS, I can say that HTC has struggled to put this piece of technology in our hands. Since the quality of construction materials used, so I took the 8X was led by a sense of beauty and security. All want a telephone robust and durable, but preferably not resemble a brick. HTC Mission accomplished! This beauty combined with some of the latest technological specifications, such as a Super LCD2 screen, 720p 4.3-inch screen, a dual-core Snapdragon S4, NFC and supported by a sound beatsaudio, we are undoubtedly facing a high-end Windows Phone. Of course these days, the issue of high-end becomes increasingly relative, as the speed of technological innovations from major manufacturers starting to become supersonic. We can not wonder too if our new smartphone after 6 months no longer feel so "new", but since it accomplishes its goals, we always say that this is a good phone. And here at HTC with its 8X not let your credit for more alien, not letting us look bad. The Super LCD2 has excellent viewing angles, combined with a more than sufficient resolution (341ppi), not disappointed, either inside or outside, where despite the brightness, remains excellent viewing ease. The Gorilla Glass assures the durability and beauty of these characteristics covering practically the whole front of the body of 8X. This body is gifted with slender lines and curves, which fit like a glove (silk) to our hands (regardless of size). The ratio of the screen size and thickness was really well done. Nothing to say also in the use of materials. Give a feeling of robustness perfect (despite the rubberized surface is subject to certain risks ...) and security. Hardware buttons, the needed: power, volume and much desired button dedicated to camera. Just a reminder to the stylized and slightly projecting power and volume buttons, which are sometimes not the easiest to find ... at least in my case! At the bottom we find the microUSB standard, right next to the microphone. At the top, the output 3.5 mm microphone secondary and side access to micro-SIM. And nothing more. Simple and effective. Inside we find an 8X 1800mAh removable battery, which provides us energy for a day of use under normal conditions. On a more personal note, I would like to start seeing better times and longer use. It seems that battery technology has not advanced much or not be a major issue? ... We also have an internal memory of 16 GB, without physical access, the minimum needed for normal use. Anyway, we can always bail us of cloud storage, with services like Microsoft Skydrive. Speaking of cameras, we have a page with 8 MP f/2.0, allowing us to take pictures acceptable in low light conditions. The quality of the images is one that HTC has accustomed us. Good images with detail and vibrant colors. More than enough to post our photos in various social networks. The video is also acceptable, HD 1080p / 30 fps. Just did not like the service in low light conditions, revealing image with enough grain. The front camera is only reasonable, with 2.1 MP, finding that the 8X deserved something a little better. Not going deep into the universe of Windows 8 OS, I can only say that a smartphone is easy to use, with the buttons as usual Back, Home and Search (customary and compulsory for all Windows Phone), and which easily gets used. The entire interface is simple, clear and easy to habituation, which makes this 8X accessible to anyone, whether beginners or advanced users. One last reminder of something "strange". The hardware includes an FM radio module, which can not be used due to lack of available software! Blame Windows 8 OS or just something "forgotten"? In short: The 8X has a fantastic body, shows up well dressed, but not just appearances. Accompanied intelligence enough to compete with the best smartphones on the market to date. Specifications top and helps complete enough that the 8X remains present for some time. And if you're looking for a smartphone easy to set up, use and durable, it can be yours. Most: Screen Quality construction Performance Beauty Ease of Use The least: Battery Internal Memory Lack of FM radio Store applications undeveloped

  • First, the design. HTC 8X has strong industrial design with bold color choices and beautiful polycarbonate finish. It feels great on your hand, and you look good holding it. The screen is gorgeous and at 4.3", single hand operation is still possible. The combination Windows Phone 8 interface and HTC's hardware technology will please your eye every minute of the day. Next, performance. The smartphone is really smooth. There's no lag whatsoever. Multitasking is supported, and no fuss here. Web browsing leaves good experiences with multiple tab support (up to 6). Beats Audio is a huge addition, it enhances sonic experience. Sound is clear and the amount of bass will please your ear. The camera and video is a strong point here. Photos are decent with right amount of details (as long as you take them under good lighting). Battery is not bad (it last one day on regular use) but it could've been better. The only issue I've encountered is storage. 16GB isn't that spacious these days. Sure, you get extra space from SkyDrive.

  • The Looks: What a stunning device! A solid and vibrant colour that makes the phone stand out - simple but stylish. The blue fits perfectly with the blue tiles on the phone and makes the phone look fabulous. The shape fits perfectly in your hand and feels VERY light and VERY thin. The Power: A huge processor results in the operating system running super-fast - you'll never notice any lag or delays in anything you want to do. It makes doing all your favourite tasks quick and easy, taking no time at all. The Screen: Although a bit big, making the phone huge in your hand, it looks fantastic. The colours are excellent and the resolution is superb. The blacks are very black, and even when the screen is on the 'Low' brightness setting it's easy to read wherever you are. The Camera: The amazing 8MP camera takes shots that you'd think were on a digital camera. It launches quickly so you can take snaps instantly, and you can take many photos one after another without much wait in between. The Battery: It's good. It's not fantastic. It's certainly not poor though. It'll last you a full day with reasonably heavy use though, so it's unlikely you'll be running out of juice half way through your day. A tip is to switch off all the background tasks and location settings that you'll never use - that'll save huge amounts of battery. Things to think about: - The operating system doesn't quite have a great Market for apps, but most are replaceable with alternatives. - The device is quite big. If a huge phone isn't your thing, then the HTC 8S would be better for you - very similar, very quick operating system, and stunning design - it's even better looking than this 8X. - Make sure you search through settings to reduce battery consumption. Other than those small points, it's a great phone and a pleasure to use on a day to day basis. You won't be disappointed.

  • Based on hardware alone, this is easily the most portable device running Windows Phone 8 on the market. It's only slightly bigger than the HTC 8S but both are remarkably smaller and lighter than other Phone 8 devices without compromising screen size. The front-facing camera has a wider capture angle than other phones and makes it easy to take group pictures. The body is easy to hold and the touch screen is very responsive. The end result is a device that feels solid in your hand and lets you easily see the work you're doing while on the run. It's a fantastic device!

  • Windows is the world's ubiquitous OS - as far as PC's are concerned - yet a relatively small player in the world of mobile communication. Much of this is due, I feel, to the relatively meager specifications demanded by Microsoft for their phones. With the release of Windows Phone 8 that has changed dramatically - and for the better. The HTC 8X is a fantastic example of what is now available for those users who either want a new experience, a (slightly) less walled garden, or a a simpler way of communicating. HTC have delivered this opportunity in a package which at least equals their Android offerings in a variety of ways. The construction is of a premium quality - both the form factor and the materials involved result in a aesthetically pleasing experience - one of the few phones you will often just hold so as to look at it. Internally, whilst limited by Microsoft's specifications, both the screen and CPU combine to deliver a smooth and "hitch-free" experience whilst browsing or multi-tasking - the screen being especially pleasing to the eye. Sound quality is outstanding - especially with high-rate MP3s - whilst video runs smoothly without lag. The only points of concern would be the rather awkward power button (though the addition of a dedicated camera button is much appreciated) and the wanton pleasure the rubberized coating takes in picking up marks. On the subject of the camera - I found the quality to be slightly less than other offering by HTC - but the addition of a wide angle lens allows for great, more group-friendly, shots. In conclusion, the HTC 8X is a fantastic phone - and whatever your feeling about your preferred OS - the actual phone is a pleasure to use and well worth a try.

  • Functional, capable with amazing design. It's HTC 8X! SCREEN Made from Gorilla Glass 2 with curved edges making the screen itself top of the range. It has 341 pixels per inch with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (720p) on a 4.3'' screen size. When you combine all of these things you are going to get amazing vivid colors, superb brightness and if you are in direct sunlight you can still see everything on your device. Crisp display is one of the things that separate this amazing device from others. SOUND Dr Dre's Beats Audio technology is integrated in 8X, making it first Windows Phone 8 device that has Beats Audio technology integrated This is basically an amplifier in your headphone jack that will allow you to have very clear and amazing sound. Even if you are going to use large set of headphone it's going to be more then enough to pump the sound to them. This phone is going to take you seriously if you demand sound quality and it will provide it through multimedia, music and with voice calls. CAMERA One of big surprises when I got this phone in my hands is the camera, and dedicated camera button that should be a must have for mobile devices considering that we use our mobile camera more and more. Front camera has 2.1 megapixels and it's going to help you capture amazing clear shoots, and F2.0 aperture is going to make those shots even more amazing, While front camera can record 1080p video. Main camera has 8 megapixels with auto focus and LED flash. BSI sensor is going to help with shots in low light environment It has F2.0 aperture and 28mm lens. Before pointing and shooting you can adjust shutter speed, color and resolution. The camera links you to a range of apps that are recommended for picture manipulation. While camera does not have burst more, nor panorama feature it's still amazing. My favorite is using it at 6 megapixels for taking wide screen shots, and 8 megapixel for very detailed shots that will really amaze you. DESIGN I just love the shape and the feel of the phone. It fits perfectly in my hand, pocket and on my desk. Colors are eye catching, and I can say that it draws a lot of attention because you don't see a lot of colored phones out there (mine is blue). Body curves make the phone very slim and you have a feeling that back just connects to the front of the phone. Back of the phone has an amazing finish that melts with your hand and it's not slippery so you can be sure that it will stay in your hand. BATTERY Embedded & rechargeable Li-ion Polymer battery with a capacity of 1800 mAh gives me more then a day of usage. With 3G and Wi-Fi activated it more then enough. Standby battery life is superb with 3 days with minimal use. HARDWARE The phone uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon dual core 1.5Ghz processor with 1GB of RAM making it super fast, and user is presented with a fluid experience while using it. CPU and memory will allow you to keep that experience with everything you throw at it. It supports fastest version of 3G, called HSPA+ that can really show you what speed is. GPS antenna with GLONASS allow you to use your favorite navigation apps from Marketplace. From connectivity you can find 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 3.1, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and it's NFC capable. One of biggest surprises that I got after connecting my 8X to my Ubuntu laptop is that file transfer works out of the box. You can understand my surprise that this works considering that Windows Phone OS is manufactured by Microsoft. I know that not many of you are using Linux as your main system but this is a big deal and it should be known if any other Linux users is considering in buying this amazing device. OS I had my reservations about Windows Phone but now I must say that it's all gone. OS is fast, easy to use and very intuitive. From WP7 to WP8 you can see that Microsoft is doing a good job, and HTC recognized that. In case you have a reservation about the OS I would urge you to first try it out. As a big Android fan i was presently surprised. DURABILITY: I am not using a case with my phone because it feels great in my hand, it's not slippery and Gorrila Glass 2 provides great protection. I just feel safe using the phone as it is, and I would urge you to try holding the phone to see how it feels. HTC 8X is an amazing device and it will exceed your expectations as it did mine. The phone is easy to use with smooth and very fast UI, and when you combine video and sound quality you get a superb device. This is the phone that stands our from others.

  • The best thing, hands down, about this phone is the feel of it in your hand. HTC has done an amazing job getting just the right finish on it, and this thin and slender phone feels amazing when you hold it. The pictures don't do it justice. I also really like that it comes in color, rather than the same old grey and white (I have the blue). It's a solid performer and WP8 runs very well on it. I had some issues with audio cutting out, though that may have been the Audible app. The cameras are good, but not great. They perform excellent in outdoor lighting, but low light photos don't tend to come out great. The front facing camera has a neat feature: wide angle. This is a really great idea and something that will likely find its way to every other smartphone in the future. It just makes sense... when skyping or taking a picture of yourself and your friends, you just get a lot more in the picture. Overall I like this phone a lot more than I thought I might, and I guess that says it all.

  • I'm using the 8X for almost two months now and I must say it totally rocks! The camera's are very good with 8 and 2 Mega pixels and a wide-angle front-camera for much portrait fun! I love the physical button for the camera, so much easier to use than tapping the screen. The 1,5 GHz duo-core processor gives the 8X great speed and smooth handling, you get where you want in no time at all, I noticed the 8X is mostly faster than other (new) phones from friends.. Listening to music is a treat! the 8X is my first HTC with Beats Audio and I love it! not only with headphones but also hooked up with my stereo! I've heard some comments about battery life, but for me it is more than sufficient.. using it for a day is no problem and it gets new juice at night.. Also a WP8 update manages power better and that got rid of some usage. My daughter regularly plays with my phone, but no worries anymore that she might mess up the settings thanks to a neat little plug-in named Play-corner. She can access all games from there and she loves it. The overall feel and look are very nice, I know HTC is always trying to get this at the highest level, and they really succeeded with the 8X. I can only say that I totally love the 8X and it replaced my Sensation without regrets, and I never thought I would trade it in for anything else..

  • The Windows Phone by 8X has to be one of the most distinctive smartphone designs I've had the pleasure to experience first hand. From the rubberized polycarbonate body to the curved gorilla glass the phone is top of the range and never have I been asked so much, "What phone is that?" by friends and casual onlookers alike. California blue was my weapon of choice but the other colour options are sure to ellicit similar head turning reactions. The 4.3 inch display hits the sweet spot for me personally in terms of size and allows you to effortlessly view media content without feeling like you're transporting a tablet in your pocket. The volume rocker, power and dedicated camera buttons all feel solid in operation and allow the phone to be used single handedly while on the move in an effortless fashion without excessive hand acrobatic skills being required. I am delighted with this smartphone and wouldn't hesitate in suggesting it to anyone!

  • I have been using a California Blue HTC 8X for nearly a month now and I must admit that while I was ecstatic by the design, I also had a lot of apprehension due to its fineness. The 8X is my first device from HTC thats so beautifully crafted, so light that I find myself very often weirdly caressing the smooth polycarbonate material. My other HTC devices that Ive owned look incredibly bulky and rude next to the 8X. This is most obvious with the grey Titan II sitting next to the lively California Blue device. HTC, through the design of the 8X, clearly wanted to re-invent itself and they have succeeded. However, the HTC 8X is not perfect despite its eye-catching, flashy design. For a device that has a 4.3 screen, it is unusually tall. This is particularly noticeable when compared to the 4.7 Titan II. Thats kind of weird when I have to reach the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen or the power button at the top. It requires much finger twist and a bit of Fantastic 4 Reed Richards elastic superpowers to use the soft buttons with just one hand. HTC should have gone with at least a 4.5 screen to make the device more usable. Thats the price to pay to give the HTC 8X a gorgeous 1280x720 screen with pixel density of 342ppi. The Titan II is no match at this level. Photos are crisp; browsing the web is a pleasure. The front camera is amazing with its ability to capture more in one photo than any other phones can handle. Its just great to fit in my daughters and myself when doing video calls with Skype, but not so in terms of photo quality. But the pictures are still better than any other phones Ive used though. The 8MP back camera offers good quality photos during day use and requires a little fiddling with the settings in low light conditions. Thats not a real problem for me as I dont usually take photos after dark. Strangely, I find the picture quality on the 8X to be better than on the 16MP camera of the Titan II. The HTC 8X is definitely the most fashionable device Ive used so far. Every time I take it out, it manages to catch the attention of all those around me with an incessant emission of WOWs.

  • According to me 8X is the best phone ever made by HTC in terms of hardware. 8X has perfect size. Inspite of having 4.3 inch screen, the phone is very sleek. Infact the bezel is compact to accommodate easy one hand operation i.e one can access full screen from top to bottom easily. The phone comes in amazing colours, be it red, yellow, blue, pink and black. The best part is matching front ear piece grill in the same colour. Im in love with the design of 8X. The phone has lovely curves on the back. 8X sports a beautiful polycarbonate unibody design with round corners. The back is matte rubber coating that makes the phone slip resistant and comfortable to hold. 8X comes with long lasting 1800 mah battery. It has wonderful battery life as the phone lasts for full day with continuous internet and sync on and moderate usage. Still, 8X is a light weight phone. The display of 8X is very crisp and sharp. 8X comes with 8 mp back camera and 2.1 mp wide angled front camera. The camera quality is awesome. You can capture wide angled photos with front camera. The best part is dedicated camera button on the side, which according to me is must have in all handsets. The 8X runs is very fast as it comes with 1.5 GHz dualcore Qualcomm S4 process and 1 GB RAM. Also 8X comes with inbuilt 16GB internal memory and Gorilla Glass display.

  • HTC 8X is amazing! The design of this phone is great. The curved back feels natural in your hand. It feels more grippable than my One X and slightly thicker, which aids in the comfort. The bright colours make it stand out and intrigue people which makes a good talking point!

  • New WP8x....fell on floor from a height of 2 feet..GROLlLIA Glass Screen broken.....

  • It's so wonderful to hear how many folks find their holistic satisfaction from HTC. As HTC is in my blood (Hox & Hox+ & butterfly) God bless HTC. HTC for life no matter what...

  • Being a power user concerned with portability, productivity and functionality combined in a smallest piece, I was looking for a phone which would fill the place of several devices and be a power phone rather than just smartphone. I was pretty inspired by the simple look of the Windows Phone 8 OS, and was looking for a perfect device to blend with this OS, and I came across the 8X, beautifully crafted, premium feel in hand, gorgeous display and awesome feeling when you hold it in your hand. My videos look amazing on its HD display and the touch is super responsive! One of the best things I like about this phone is the camera, the video recording of 1080p quality with 45fps is simply superb, came in handy during family functions! The speaker is quite impressive, is loud and clear. And I like the speaker grills at the back, it adds to the overall look of the phone. The phone is real thin and whenever I look at it, I always wonder how beautifully the unibody design is flushing with the display. Now coming to some cons about this device, being a power user, I really felt 16gb to be very less, that limits my productivity and stuff I could do. There should've been a SD card slot to tackle this issue. It's really bad it offers only 16GB. Second thing is the battery life. It hardly lasts a single full day, and drain in screen off is considerable. I don't know if this is an OS issue, but definitely HTC should have done something to improve the battery life as they have done on the Androids. Overall its a fun device to capture beautiful pictures (even in low lights I found them to be of good quality), to watch high definition videos, to type on the ultra responsive screen, and with beats, you also have a music system with you with good quality sound and sound effects. So this is definitely a complete package for both work and play!

  • Looks & Feel : The styling of the phone is truly inspired by the Windows ecosystem depicting various colours. But unlike most Windows phones available in the market, HTC has seriously made attempts to make it stand out in the crowd.Be it the tapered edges which makes it feel extremely thin and comfortable to hold or the extremely light weight chassis which makes it one of the most lightest phones available. Similar to its Android counterpart, the use of polycarbonate makes up to a delightful feel in the hand. Software & UI : The fact that this phone has been made by HTC together with the Windows team has ensured the most smoothest experience of Windows 8 as compared to others. Be it the opening of apps or the updating of tiles, everything is picture perfect. For someone like me who has been not the Android ecosystem since the beginning was a smooth transition and find it much better here. Though one thing that might bother some of us is the lack of apps but most major apps are available or have a replacement. Camera : The camera on the 8X was the first thing to catch my attention on this mighty beast. The amazing front facing camera is one of the best in the class and thanks to its ultra wide angle which assures you that no one will be missed out in the frame. The rear camera is almost identical to the one on the One X+ with an incredible shutter speed. But I did miss out a few features I have on my One X+. For now it can be overcome by use of apps like Camera Pro which seamlessly integrates into the native camera app. But I would like HTC top port these features in the upcoming updates. Battery Life : For me with 3G on and with normal call time gives me a day and a half of juice. This includes about 2 - 3 hours of playing one of the most addictive games like Wordament. For heavy users the phone would easily last a day. Video Playback & Music : The 8X can play full HD content and thanks to the amazing integration of Beats Audio, listening to sound is a breath taking experience. To make the most out of your phone use a pair of Beats headphones. Overall : The phone is a great option for existing Windows Phone users who wish to upgrade and also for those who want to make a transition from iOS or Android. The phone seamlessly syncs with your Windows 8 PC. Mac users can also enjoy these goodies by downloading their desktop software. Thumbs up for HTC for creating a masterpiece.

  • This is one of the best phones i have used. I ABSOLUTELY love it. HTC 8X is so light. My friends had compared it to their current phones and I tell you HTC 8X is the lightest of them all.Seems like it is made just right for the Windows phone8. If you are a girl like me who doesnt like bulky and oversize phones,I recommend u to buy this beauty My favorite thing about it is the wide angle Front facing camera..I always make my friends jealous showing off my front facing camera..The pics come out crystal clear... It has an amazing battery life. And I tell you this has an amazing audio.. nothing can beat the beats audio..And also the volume level is very high, u will be amazed. I love my HTC WINDOWS PHONE 8X...it is blue and it is very SEXY...i have gotten so many compliments for my sleek, stunning and sexy phone...!!!

  • I am reviewing only the hardware, and not the OS, as the OS is almost totally regulated by Microsoft, and WP8 OS review here would basically give the same info as any other websites. Design, Build Quality and Ergonomics: The device is beautifully designed and there is no single day goes by without me staring at the device. It really is designed to blend with the Live Tiles and HTC has done a very good job doing so. Built quality is superb, there is no light leaks and the screen is perfectly flushed into the chassis, making it very sleek and seamless. The only complain I have is that the volume button can rattle. Ergonomic wise, I can handle the phone well with one hand. The device is cleverly designed with tapered sides, which makes it feel really thin. The lightweight of the phone helps in single handed operations, too. Nothing to complain in terms of shape and weight. The screen size is perfect for me. My only gripe is that the positioning and the flushed power button make it a little hard to operate it. Nothing serious. Camera hardware button is great and has nothing to complain about. Responds very well. Capacitive buttons give a good tactile respond, not vibrating too hard nor too soft. Display: It is gorgeous! Blacks are sufficiently dark. Sunlight legibility is good, if not great. It is sufficiently visible under bright tropical sunlight with medium brightness. Viewing angles, however, suffers if viewed from extreme angles, especially from the corner view. Have to be noted is that, these are really extreme angles, so daily usage will not be affected at all. Audio: I am a music lover, and my biggest concern about this phone was the audio quality. I am very accustomed to customisable graphical EQ, which I couldn't find in the WP Store. But, turns out that the standard audio output is great. Beats audio mostly amps up the volume, bass and treble, but does make a difference in audio experience. Speaker is amazing. It reproduces lows and highs quite nicely without distortions. I have never had a better audio speaker experience from a phone before. It drives most headphones without hiccups. Bottom line is I am not disappointed with the audio at all. It is the OS (WP8) which is kinda a let down for me as there is no custom EQ app at the moment. Camera: The wide angle and wide aperture main camera is inspiring for me. It takes great shots and although may not have the same performance like the PureView, is nothing to be looked down upon. In fact, it produces a very creamy bokeh and focuses faster than my nephew's Galaxy S3. It takes great macro shots as well. The front camera is out of this world! My expectations were surpassed! 1080p front videos is the world's first among smartphones (i think). Video calls were amazing. The only let down is the slight distortions around the edges, which is expected from a wide angle lens like this (remember, the focal length of the lens would be very small for the sensor size). My only complain is the sometimes slow focus in video. Oh, and maybe the absence of image stabilizer (software or hardware). All in all, the camera is a great performer, coupled with the responsive camera hardware button, which launches camera anytime. Very satisfied! Battery life: While the 1800mAh battery will get you through from clock in to clock out with moderate usage, the battery life is just slightly above good. There is really an issue with standby power drain. I have another HTC device running android, and the standby drain is about 1% for every 3-4 hours, with 3G turned on. But in this device, I am losing 1-2% in just an hour with 3G on. I am not sure why, but I suspect it is more like a software problem than hardware, because HTC's android phones with the same hardware have much better standby performance. That being said, I think that the battery performance is okay without being disappointing. In conclusion, the device is a work of art that turns head. All my colleagues are asking about it. People on the streets are staring at it. I have never had a more proud feeling in holding to a phone before. It may not have the hardware-extras like the Lumia, but unlike the Lumia, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is not a hardware pusher, but rather a workhorse, something that the Redmond people wants WP8 to be. It is more comfortable and more ergonomic. I am truly satisfied with what HTC has to offer with the 8X.

  • The Most Beautiful Windows Phone Yet The HTC Windows Phone 8X is a sleek and catchy device. Has the perfect size for one handed use and a perfect soft touch unibody design to hold the phone with a firm grip. The phone feels really good in hand and the display is really crisp and high resolution one. Texting, Watching videos and playing games on the screen looks really good. The audio quality on the phone is really good as it has a built in separate dedicated chip for audio amplifying and has beats audio built in. The camera on the back takes really good photos and the front camera has a wide angle lens for fitting more people on the screen and can take HD videos as well. Perfect for video calling. Pros: Great for texting, Great web browsing, Long battery life, Great camera, 4G, Large screen, Touch screen, Music, Volume level Cons: none

  • I own this phone for more than 2 months. Loved the design of the phone, not boring, unlike most of the devices on other platforms. Windows Phone 8 is very pleased with the fast work in all aspects. In the system itself is very well designed aspects of working with contacts, social. networks and work Exchange. The battery keeps the normally operate for more than a day of moderate work. Bit unusual when the battery is non-removable, but I hope that will live long and need a hard reset will not. It should be noted that when changing to this phone may not be easy, unless you come from ordinary phone, because not all programs from other OS`s are available on other operating systems. HTC did a great job making this phone - you'll probably love it!(hide full review)

  • What can I say? The 8X is light, pretty, fast and tough. It feels good in the hand - grippy without being sticky and a perfect shape. The lines aren't spoilt anywhere and the colour is a bold statement. Let me walk you around the phone. The power button is at the top right; and while it's sometimes difficult to hit perfectly it doesn't irritate much. The SIM card slot, volume controls and camera shutter button are down the right hand side; made flush with the edge but easy to find and use. (Sometimes the camera button can be a little TOO easy to hit, but there are options in the settings to help). Charging is at the centre of the base (BIG plus point for me) and the left side of the phone is unadorned. The headset socket sits at the top left. The display is simply stunning; the clarity and sharpness of just about everything it shows is delightful; and it's bright and strong too - even in sunlight it's easily visible. Accompanying the display on the front of the phone are the front-facing camera lens (top right), the earpiece (centre) and at the bottom the three Windows Phone keys back, start and search. The main camera and flash LED are near the top of the back surface, and the loudspeaker is near the bottom in the centre. Mentioning the speaker brings me to playing music: this phone's built-in speaker is LOUD - and some of the best quality reproduction I've heard from a phone's internal speaker. That doesn't mean it'll rival even a small docking station - duh - but for a phone speaker it's excellent. Plug in some headphones and it is INCREDIBLY loud - you will very rarely need full volume on this beast. Using the phone, I'm struck by the speed. Transitions are completely free of lag, stutter or slowness - everything feels extremely slick and responsive. Lots of pretty little animations are built into Windows Phone to provide feedback on what you do on the display, and even these don't faze the processing speed at all. Response of the network is adequate on Edge, excellent on 3/3.5G and WiFi. Battery life is great; with moderate use I'm getting about a day and a half - light usage keeps it going for two days easily. The cameras are brilliant - I'm really impressed with both (for different reasons). The main camera is FAST. Press the button and the pic is done; no lag (or at least, not more than 1/10th of a second). All the normal "Effects" and camera settings are present, and the flash is good and bright. Photos are great quality with good colour reproduction and pin-sharp focus. The front facer isn't quite as fast, but the difference compared to other phones is immediately obvious when you look at the display... it's INSANELY wide angle, with a viewable area of almost 90°. This means that you can fit in an awful lot of stuff, even when the subjects are only at arm's length. Snaps are by default at 1920x1080 on the front cam which is very reasonable. Videoing with both cameras is great, too! Downsides? Well, there are some minor irritations but the phone is seriously good - they really are acceptable. Firstly, the power button, as mentioned above, could be tilted back a tiny bit away from the display to make it easier to find. With the front camera, it's very easy to get camera shake in anything less than daylight. It is impossible to charge the phone with the power off; as soon as you plug in power, it switches itself on and won't switch off (it restarts instead). That's it - I hope you find it useful!

  • A wonderful piece of design I've had my HTC 8X for around a month now. As a bit of background, I came from a HTC Wildfire S, so I have HTC in my blood. I also thought I had Android in my blood, even if it was an old version, but the opportunity arose to get an 8X and so I thought I'd give it a try. First Impressions When the phone arrived I first noticed that it was very nicely packaged in a compact white box. Whilst this doesn't have an impact on the future use of the phone, it gives a good first impression of a sleek and well-designed piece of kit. The phone was snugly packaged up inside the box with a screen protector expounding some of the phone's best features. There was also a very neat looking key to open the SIM tray. All in all it's a very smart package that makes you want to get the phone on charge as soon as possible. I loved the look of the phone too. the sharp corners and the cushioned back make the phone look super-slim. The black slab of glass on the front oozes class and the way the blue polycarbonate sticks through the screen to form the front speaker is a thing of beauty. Once I had the phone charged and some apps loaded I was immediately impressed at the speed and fluidity of the device. You might expect that coming from a Wildfire previously, but this was very, very good. In fact, on testing against a friend's Samsung S3, we found the 8X loads apps quicker and looks smoother when working. Longer Term Impressions One of the first thing I notice about using the phone in public is that I keep getting asked what phone it is. People really love the blue colour, the thin look of it and the general design. I love the sound quality with Beats Audio on. The quality does depend a bit on what headphones you are using. I tried some cheap ones and it was awful, but when I plug in my Bose IE2 buds the sound really comes alive. A lot of people criticise the availability of apps in the store, but I have found a decent offering for almost everything I need, and plenty that I don't but have still installed. I love the fact that I can completely customise my home screen with the tiles. I can get all the things I need at the top of the screen for quick fire access, as well as easy visual cues (such as the wife's birthday is next week!) to keep me out of trouble. Disappointments I have heard from other 8X users that the soft touch coating on the corners of the device tends to start to flake quite quickly. I have therefore purchased a case for the phone (HTC Doubleshot if you're interested), but that does make the phone very slightly chunkier looking which is a real shame. I am not completely satisfied with Windows Phone 8, but that's not HTC's fault at all and so doesn't belong in this review. It's a little disappointing that the Global GSM version of this phone doesn't have LTE capabilities. I gather that some devices in the states do (depending on carrier), so it's a shame it's not built in as standard on all devices. Sadly there is no MicroSD slot on this phone meaning 16GB is 16GB and thats that. Its not a massive issue of course, but it is disappointing. Final Thoughts This is a cracking piece of kit. A lot of people will shy away from it because it's not Android, but I reckon those people are really missing out. WP8 is quite simplistic, yes, but there's time for Microsoft to deal with that, and in the meantime you are getting a top notch phone that looks nice, does the job, sounds great, and will make you the envy of anyone with a grain of design consciousness in their DNA!

  • The only way you can start a review of this phone, is to talk about how well designed it is. It looks are sleek, its curves are beautiful and I can honestly see every new smartphone on the market in the next 24 months taking some inspiration from it. Ive had the phone nearly two months now and it always draws admiring glances. Apart from the phones glamorous looks, it also packs a hefty punch underneath. The first thing you will notice is the display is very clear and I enjoy looking at the Internet more on the 8X than I do on my HTC One X despite the screen being smaller, the touchscreen also responds to every touch well. Although the WP8 music system is not the best I have seen on a phone, the sound quality on the phone is very high quality, especially through the loudspeaker which I use a lot to entertain my daughter! HTC have also looked hard at the front camera on the phone, something which almost seems like an afterthought on many smartphones, in an age where we seem to be taking more pictures of ourselves with friends (admit it, weve all done it, or at least seen them on Facebook!) it is good to see phone designers thinking of how we use a phone. The clarity you get from the front facing camera is like nothing I have seen, this is also true of what you can fit into the pictures I guess due to the wide angle lens. (My current record was taking a group picture of 10 of us in a pub!) The tradition reverse camera is adequate, although I do have a few concerns over indoor pictures. If you have made the decision to migrate to Windows Phone 8, or you are looking at your first smartphone I couldnt recommend this innovate phone enough. Its ease of use is a big plus point, you could hand it to your dear old Mum and she would be able to customise it to her tastes without any problems.

  • The HTC 8X is my first step into the world of Windows after years of being an Android user. I have to start my review by talking about the actual hardware. The 8X is one of the most beautiful handsets I've ever seen. My California Blue model is absolutely gorgeous and is contoured to fit in the hand perfectly. I was surprised at how light the phone is and the quality of the workmanship and finish. With the exception of the sim insert tray the phone is a complete unibody design with drilled in speaker grills on the front and back of the handset. The screen is stunning, the display is better than the Iphone 5, colours are rich and the darker colours particularly black stand out. The wide angle front facing camera is definitely a winner, not only is the quality of shots exceptional for a front camera particularly in natural light but the camera captures twice as much as a standard front facing camera making family portraits a breeze. The rear camera is also of a good standard if there is to be a criticism it would be that the camera functionality lacks some of the basic settings available on the HTC One Series handsets. As soon as these are added it will compliment perfectly the high quality rear lense. The Beats Experience is what you expect but where the 8X really excels is the quality of sound from the phone speakers when you're not using Beats Enabled Headphones. The quality is the best I have heard on a mobile phone. The phone performs really well in terms of speed, switching between applications and general scrolling. The built in web experience is excellent with the Internet Explorer browser and pages load faster than on my Android devices. I do miss the lack of a FM radio but I hope this can be rectified in a future software upgrade. The app marketplace is beginning to expand and there are some good apps available but still lacking the choice available on Android or iOS. The Windows People Hub and Live Tiles are a great feature and the operating platform is a lot more user friendly and interesting than alternatives on the market. If you're an Xbox user than the 8X creates some great compelling options to connect up your devices. Microsoft Office functionality is also much welcomed and a feature you will definitely use. Skydrive integration is brilliant and for the first time ever I am really using cloud storage, its simple, works in the background and requires very little set up. Battery life has been surprisingly good, the phone gets me through a full day without a need for recharging and I am a fairly heavy user of data and am constantly switching the screen on to use apps. The battery life is definitely better than that on my Android device. Overall I would definitely recommend the HTC 8X to anyone looking to upgrade. You get a stunning handset which feels great in the hand and is powerful and nippy when you use it. Be prepared for all and sundry to want to handle and play with the device it is definitely a crowd pleaser and easy on the eye!The build quality is better than anything on the market and you get an amazing camera experience especially if you're a heavy user of Skype or Video Calling. The minor gripes I do have are more software and platform related and easily fixed as more apps come online in the marketplace. The 16gb storage is adequate for my current needs but I do think it would be useful to have the handset available in 32gb and 64gb formats especially as memory is not expandable. A big thumbs up for the HTC 8X which marks a definite return to form for HTC.

  • Nice feedback. just what i was after.

  • Yes whatsapp, wechat and skype works well.

  • Did viber, whatsapp, and other voice calling free programs working as on Android phones or not? I am willing to buy the phone this week

  • Like other one said , you can change settings for background processes Go to settings and swipe ur finger left , there u find it. Or If u want to close all apps , press back button until you see home screen.Press it constantly till back button returns u to home screen and it no longer works beyond home screen (i.e u quit all apps , so there are no previous screens to go back) and back button again works when u launch an app.

  • I think you have to change the background application running in setting.

  • Hi Frnds I would like to inform you that the 8X was really good one phone in compared to any other windows phone coz of clearity n speed of the processor also the body line of the packing its very good. dont think catch up

  • hey guys,i have this phone 1 mounth yet,but i dont know how to stop background app,or they stop automaticly after i go to menu? for.exp.when i use skype or some app.when out of app.they stop, why they dont runing?for use? about the os.win8.its unexpected intresting and satysfyig for my needs, keep with that work.

  • hi ,i have been using this phone for 2 months and what a plesure.. i have no problem with android for my other phone was HTC desire, but this is difrentt and nice. looking for something cool and more funky then this is the phone. so nice that one of my friedns are going from iPhone to this. well done guys to HTC and windows!

  • After 2 months of use and coming over from Android platform background, I have to conlude this device is very good. Design is outstanding, screen quality impeccable, processor power abundand. No lags, freezes, shutdowns. Ever. Of course I'd prefer to have an extra microSD card slot but saying that - I never fill 14Gb on a PHONE. Some of stuff is stored nicely in Skydrive and Dropbox and available anytime. Battery life - average, I often make a 2 day run on a single charge, but I don't use the phone as a toy. The win8 OS is supersmooth, reliable, covers almost all needs with lots of apps to choose from to customize and expand users experience. Sure - user modifications are quite restricted, but great support is provided by both MS and community. Various issues are dealt with and constant upgrades are expected. My other devices run on Jelly Bean and Gingerbread and I can't say I truly prefer them in any specific way. The only thing I really miss so far with winphone 8 is lack of a classic file manager and access to full phone file system.

  • Very nice phone and fast. camera is best.if someone wants to go for windows8 should be 1M RAM if less can not install all App.after install some App becomes more better

  • Hi Honz, the reply to your post is below, This phone contains a little above average battery @ 1850 mah: the Battery life also depends on the usage of services--> it is a known fact that Windows platform consumes much lesser energy as compared to Android or IOS The phone has a no nonsense appeal and provides a phenominal professional experiance which cannot be matched by any other platform The phone provides integration of all the social networking fields in a single window, making it effortless for even an antisocial person :) It surely has copy & paste function It's cloud connectivity is phenominal, you will not be able to find any other phone which has capability of editing the documents of word, excel, powerpoint and sharing the same on a cloud platform for others to see and edit in real time. so in case you are looking at a product to fool around with and waste your time in downloading non working aps and deleting, it ain't the device for you :).

  • Battery life time is too short Windows dos'nt give you much to control expensive for the features it have android much better in my openion not flexable device No Radio withat price? no task manager no File manger no even file copy

  • I really like the fone just cant get my head around some of it,like how to change txt msg alerts to your own instead of ones on the fone...if anyone knows pls let me know thanx

  • My T-Mo 8x lasted a day and a half with moderate usage and push e-mail with four mailboxes. It's far better than any iPhone or Android I've had, and that's not bad.

  • @biogenester33 after 2 months of usage, I can say the battery is quite bad. maybe we should wait for the update that manage the performance. and for those who are asking this phone is good or not, I was an android and ios user before this. and, apart from apps quantity and battery performance, this phone or windows phone is absolute good. the user experience is quite outstanding.

  • Does ny one say how gud the battery performance is for the set....??

  • The Verizon one has NFC.

  • yes it does

  • Just bought this phone a week back all I can say the phone is good but the battery is ok with 3g data on I have to charge by evening and the Windows app store need to improve the database as some application I use in android is not available, using this phone as my second phone. I can rate it 7/10

  • Yes, it does have NFC

  • what about NFC? does it have NFC??? cause if it does, i'm gonna buy it! :)

  • what about NFC? does it have NFC??? cause if it does, i'm gonna buy it

  • Does anyone know how to save/share pictures on the FB on with this phone? You can't hold the picture like on normal android and options appear. And it gives you none of these options with the little drop down. Help?

  • U can get ur actual sim CUT short from any mobile shop near u to make it a MICRO SIM

  • Hi guys, thanks for being here to help.. i got a question plz help me out... what should i do about the micro sim? where will i find that? im worried, plz reply to me.. ill be waiting.. thanks in advance...

  • This phone is simple but damn too simple and kinda dry. I can't do little things like blocking a caller as an Android phone would do. I still wander why i can't download an antivirus. Don't i need one? The phone must upgrade seriously. I've had it for about 3weeks now in Lagos, Nigeria.

  • Does this phone works completely in harmony with an ultrabook working thru windows 8 . İ mean, can i pass the telephone numbers, e mail addresses from an excel table directly to the phone, and send group mails from the phone.

  • i think no need to pay any. its free of cost.

  • nice

  • Just Fentastic phone! i am lovin it

  • Htc 8x is a great featuring phone operating windows. But it has battery problem. 1800 mAh is nt enough for windowd phone.

  • Htc 8x is a great featuring phone operating windows. But it has battery problem. 1800 mAh is nt enough for windowd phone.

  • If you are complaining because it doesn't have an analogue radio... Welcome to the digital age son, try using a radio app like TuneIn radio.

  • I m using this phone. It looks great nd all required applications are free of cost in Windows market. I downloaded all of them. Games are not so good bt its not a big issue, as OS is working very smooth and also new games are coming now. Disney and game loft joined d party. Others will come soon. I m very happy to use this phone. :)

  • No mobile company can compare to HTC Best phone ever with beats audio "AWESOME"i hope can be proud owner of HTC one day :)

  • I got my phone 3 days ago and its working great. Can do everything I want, I found most of the applications I was looking for and all the ones that mattered. So far they were all free. Battery life is all day, plus more. No spontaneous rebooting! Excellent phone.

  • i am at the end of my contract with htc wildfire which i have few complaints , i have been looking at new phone htc windows 8X or 8S my son says neither and told me to go on this site and compare them alas after reading the reviews for both i am now more confused as too what to buy i also looked at the new nokia luminair but this was too big for little lady hands HELP

  • Something is not right with your phone, mine take shots within a half second, i cant even make them blurry even if i tried

  • This phone is hideous! The camera is very very poor. It takes about 5 seconds for the camera to take the picture, then (1) you have missed your shot, (2) its blurry anyway, no matter what setting you use. Ive missed many a special moment on my daughters birthday with this poor camera! I also have issues with the battery life. I have Data and Wifi switched off all the time, hardly use my phone and it will last 2 days at best. My work mobile, HTC Beats lasts for 5 days with data constantly on and im constantly talking on it. Love the design, and windows 8, but very poor camera and battery, which are the important things for me!

  • This phone requires a MICRO SIM. U can get it from your network operator. Just go to their service centre and they will take your old sim and give you a micro sim at a very nominal charge.

  • I am not able to insert....Normal size sim card in this fone..wt should i do??

  • document viewer ??? it can show powerpoint

  • I have migrated from Android, which I like by the way, but really wanted to experience something different and unique + I wanted the best integration with my PC systems. So - for the Windows phone 8 OS experience I must say it's only positive, with a promise to grow, expand and improve. The phone is a decent piece of technology, design and value - for me it came free with a 2 year contract. The durability concerns are there, but I use a second mid range Samsung for outdoor and sports use. I like: design, weight, screen, sound, connectivity, performance, unique feel. I don't like: absence of micro SD card slot (but 16 gb is fine), mediocre camera, weak HTC software and upgrade support. But there are other sources.

  • hahh sry my dear friend. I wrote it in hurry. any how actually I think u got my point ri8..:)

  • Try writing in proper English

  • You dont have all those phones... Sorry but you just dont. Especially if you think this one is the best...

  • jst few hour before i bought this 1. actualy the mob s slim and compact. Camera is oke. while tring to sent the files using bluetooth only link s sharing bot the whole file. may b the mistake shall be mine bcoz i need some to move frm ICS to W8. even to reset, i cant findout where to go. any how i think this 1 will b a better choice.

  • It hangs in skype calls and youtube. for me it happen twice.

  • what! who are you? so many fones? cool dude!

  • how could the battery stay alive for a simple use?

  • Amazing. just simply amazing. I currently own S3,Note,Iphone4,BB Torch, and HTC HD7, but this phone is simply the best one in the market nowadays.

  • we appreciate your clarity... HTC for Life...

  • yes

  • i want to buy it online..so please tell me the web side..

  • Can we download music directly from web ... And what about google maps , does win 8 has google apps

  • Owning this fine piece of art since one month! + The phone looks slick, feels sturdy, good grip and weighs very light in the hand. Lots of people who held it where impressed by this + Windows UI is very user friendly, stable and fast to use. ( I used to have an android ) - Theres a big difference with the amount of apps and games available for Windows 8 mobile.

  • proud owner, satisfied so far :)

  • Can you transfer contacts, music, and photos from HTC Android phone to 8X?

  • LTE stands for 'Long Term Evolution'. It is the latest wireless technology after WiMAX. However, WiMAX is convertible to LTE. Main advantage of LTE is that, it provides more speed and bandwidth over WiMAX. You're welcome....

  • It's a awesome smartphone..no comments

  • Front facing native video calling with skype

  • what is LTE?

  • can u skype on this phone?

  • yes it have blutooth data sharing any windows phone version 8 have a data sharing....

  • You can. You just have to tag that mp3 as Ringtone and put it inside the Ringtones folder when you plug your phone to your PC as mass storage.

  • can this HTC make video call using front camera ? there is an native video call ?? tks

  • Can I know what is the problem for this phone before I buy

  • Does this phone hang cuz i gonna buy a new phone soon

  • Which one is better, htc one s or htc 8x?

  • I found the review of this device quite strange. It is nowhere near as big as a Lumia920 - the 920 is much wider and thicker - and the 8X has a better display, too (I have checked them side-by-side). On price it competes much more closely with the Lumia 820 and it has that handset beat on several fronts - better camera, faster CPU, more RAM. The 820's only real advantages are it's AMOLED screen (which looks better than the 8X's, despite its lower pixel density) and expandable storage, but it is a very ugly phone when seen next to the 8X. I would take an 8X over any Lumia phone, if only they weren't all ridiculously expensive. Instead I have just signed a new contract that includes an HTC 8s for nothing on a $29 plan. But if my phone use justified a $60 plan, I'd have the 8X over either of the Lumias.

  • dude.. you seems to have no idea bout it's speed and the way it works.. and the apps that have been linked together,,

  • nice working and fast

  • do not understand what you have with phones with Windows Phone? they are superior to Android.

  • Then sod off to your Nokia section then

  • If you cant find, tht means its not there. read the specs rather than asking lame questions!!!!

  • ya gma3a da 3alih 60 gneh

  • The HTC 8X has built-in support for internet connection sharing.

  • You are right, WiFi Hot Spot is not listed on the specification of this phone above as 8X doesn't have built-in / preinstalled WiFi Hotspots support. However, it has WiFi N (5GHz) so you still can use your 8X to get internet on those Hotspots. There are few apps on the WP Store to guide you to WiFi HotSpots.

  • Fantastic smartphone.

  • I had my Blue 8X for more than a month and haven't notice that issues.

  • 100% positive fren regarding SkyPe working on 8X. I've used it many times, international.

  • does this phone got Bluetooth sharing i think its not please tell me

  • does it have bt sharing i think it does not pls confirm once

  • very true

  • U must have got d defected Lumia 920 or else u dnt have a Lumia 920...it is d best smartphone on d planet right now..dnt mis guide people..

  • It only works in Lumia series

  • Bro sorry to interrupt but Nokia Lumia series have option to select the most suitable part of a song from music library n set it as a ringtone... We can crop a part which we like to set as a ringtone...update ur info

  • Rather go for Lumia series...skype is integrated in wp8 n it runs very well...Nokia gives good customer support n their exclusive apps r awesome...

  • go for Lumia 920. I have used 2 of the HTC phones & the hardware sucks bigtime. For every other problem HTC people wants to get the motherboard changed

  • Hi guys..thanks for being here to help..i want to buy this phone..but all what i want to know is that can we skype clearly on htc 8x?plz reply to me..I'll be waiting..Thanks!

  • It does have hotspot

  • Need a program to make a song your ringtone. Mobile17 is a pretty good one, and easy to use (follow instructions). Annoying extra step, but completely doable.

  • you can,t put songs as ringtong in windows os phone.it only availble in andriod.

  • There is Internet Sharing feature in 8X

  • WOW its a best phone ever ,I m very happy with the phone .

  • i want put song as ringtone but i cant ?

  • No comparison only Nokia 920

  • It's totally money waste HTC products delighted hardware....Go For Nokia Lumia Best service, Nokia Drive Without Simcard, Nokia Music,Dolby sound, Carlzess Lance....Sexy Look

  • Can any1 else confirm or disprove the input lag problem compared to other phones????

  • very nice

  • @Jotic1991...If you looking at good interface.. none can beat Windows.... and if you looking at applications, then go for Android.. Personally I like Windows a lot.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 undoubtedly. You won't get PureMotionHD+,PureView,Nokia City Lens,Nokia Drive,Nokia Music etc and other awesome Nokia powered apps on HTC.If you want Android,go for HTC,in case of Windows Phones, always Nokia.

  • I am planning to buy 8X. I heard from somewhere that corners of the phone are getting discoloured in some weeks. is this true? is there any one facing this problem?

  • I'm surprised that you are the first person I've seen to mention this, as the first thing I noticed about the 8x was the atrocious input lag. I bought the 920 and the input lag was almost as bad; certainly much higher than the Samsung Focus.

  • This phone suffers from input lag (touch events on the screen have a delay). You can easily feel this by comparing scrolling delay to the other phones like Lumia 920, Lumia 800 or any of the iPhones. Galaxy S3 also suffers from input lag (finger movement events are displayed with delay on the phone screen) Don't confuse this with scrolling performance - SGS3 and windows phones have smooth scrolling performance, but because of the input lag, the scrolling doesn't exactly match the movement on the screen on the 8X. Like I said, not all phones suffer from this on any of the leading smartphone platforms. Also this phone has a strange LCD ripple effect when tapped at the sides - I've tested on 2 different 8X-es and both suffer from the same problem. For a 440 phone, that's absolutely ridiculous. Do not buy, try the Lumia 920 if you want WP8.

  • Where does it state in the above specifications the HTC8x has WiFi Hotspot?

  • this is not true there is a wifi hotspot

  • all Windows phone never works with flash.....

  • What will I choose?? HTC 8X/Samsung Ativ S/Nokia Lumia 920?

  • nokia lumia 920 is the best phone ont go for htc 8x

  • I'm rather perplexed why the HTC 8X doesn't support WiFi Hotspot. For practical and justifiable reasons it's a feature I need and use regularly. Perhaps I'm better off talking to Nokia about the 920 or continue to purchase Samsung high end Android devices.

  • No

  • the best phone i've used till date>>>awesome camera ,music kills all other brands...jus loved it

  • can any one tell, will adobe flash work on this mob?

  • no did you read the specs

  • One of best carema , stylish, good music system, good battery life ,

  • Yes battery bad and have to reboot to get sound to work

  • is this phone have radio or not ?? i cant find radioFM??

  • that's depend. what do you want? Android offer a total customization, the downside? lags if you customize too much, example : you use 800MHz phone with 3D openGL Live Wallpaper or too many widget. WP8 offer more stability, the downside? that Live Tiles, what you can do just change color and and position. There's more different just search. both had their own pros and cons.

  • TBH if you want simplicity, speed, no lag, consistent UI design, etc. go for WP. I've had a Dell Venue (Android version) for a year or so and after I bought WP version 0 Dell Venue Pro and WOW! What a difference! I said to myself I never ever am going back to Android. I understand it offers more options for configuration but that the only real plus compared to WP. See, both before-mentioned Dells had 99% same specs, apart from the 8 vs. 5 mega cam, but CPU, RAM, etc. was the same and on WP version now I feel like I have a dual core (at least!). No comparison there.

  • users, WP8 or Android? i want to buy One S but i am considering this beauty.. what do you say?

  • Anyone has problems with Store....error: c101a006??? any solutions?

  • I believe it says DUAL core ;) I also noticed that you are referring to the specs page....if you look carefully to the left you'll notice that there are lists of articles....sweet eh? And simple! Clicky clicky.

  • This site barely gives enough information now. All it lists are the technical specifications which are nearly the same on every recent phone. "8 Megapixel, quad core, HD Video, Hi def screen" etc. When in fact it should also list innovations, and something that the phone does differently, the additional features that stand out. Sort it

  • how is the gaming experience with this one...?

  • rebooting is barely an issue, And it doesn't do a full reboot the rare time it happens. Battery is acceptable without being amazing

  • Clearly you haven't a clue what your talking about, The HTC One 8X's screen is far far superior to the AMOLED display on the NOKIA 820.

  • hello vettichirya ...have u ever seen cam on htc ..its far better than nokia ...nokia put duplicxate imges for the photos during 920 launch ..and those photos werent taken by 920....at all..and u dont need a slot for micro sd...u have a 16 gb storage with 8 gb skydrive ..isnt that enough.

  • lumia 820 bettet than htc the main draw back is no card slot and poor battery back up,... And no amold display..

  • nokia camera result is better than htc ,,,, wid pureview technology

  • Shame about no expandable memory, however from using this phone can truthfully say it has one of the best screens i've seen on a phone, watching hd video on this looks amazing, almost like watching a blu ray

  • good

  • Could you please tell me if this phone really has 32GB because in the website it is shown only 16GB is available. Can anyone help regarding this?

  • Ultimate mobile with awesome look

  • Ultimate mobile with awesome look

  • htc hub gone ? to bad

  • i heard abt some rebooting problem and battery back up lag...is it true? Pls rpl

  • I was worried about battery life, but the HTC 8x I bought doubles the time my xperia S would stand )heavy user with phone calls, emails etc all day long...). I am very happy with my choice, and looking forward for the future and new developmentes for this operating system.

  • This is the smartest and god phone for business app. user. Its already available in KSA by STC, but if you wait one month it will be available in any market like extra or jarir.thank you. regards, Sachin Kumar

  • WHat's the point of writing about nOKIA in HTC topic??? STUPID SPAMMERS!!!!!!!

  • It's quietly brilliant phone I am using for month

  • When This Phone Will Be Available in KSA ?

  • No, it isn't! Nokia Maps is coming to all Windows phone 8 devices, in fact, it is already there! The "Maps" application is now powered by Nokia Maps. Nokia Drive on the other end won't come to all WP8 phones!

  • Nokia Drive is coming to all wp8 phones and this has been confirmed by Nokia. Also Skype Beta is now available and I have downloaded it today. The apps are coming. The OS has just recently launched so give it some time. So far this phone is the best I have used after using Android for 2 years. Very stable. Great battery life. Excellent hardware. The main apps are there but as previously stated, if you are an 'app' junkie wanting the latest games, this phone is not for you. However, in my experience no other phone os beats it in productivity and how fluid it everything runs. Here are some links:
