I bought it in May 2012. I think I got attached emotionally to it as I had already bought another and I am feeling kind of a nostalgia to let it go. It was my first smartphone android and I learned from it. But there are many faults: first, when you're on the internet it inadvertedly shuts the webpage a lot of times. I don't use many apps but for anyone using them this mobile phone would be a problem for the lack of space. The biggest issue was more recently prople who I phoned to would stop listening to me, this was really frustrating so I decided I would quit this phone. Still it was a nice phone, but I guess everything has its end.

I had this phone for 2 years. My first Android phone. Cheap, robust, easy to use, nice in hand, easy to place in pocket! Biggest disadvantage is not enough RAM. For today application that use more RAM this phone just is just too slow. After I rooted him and install custom ROM that did not have fb, twiter and other social application that are fuge RAM consumers, phone speed increase dramaticly! If you use this phone just as phone, you will have no issues but if you want social media... In case that you want skype to work normally, check this tutorial.

The Sonuc U8650 is NOT a bad phone. It is a phone that is indeed perfect for the first time smartphone buyer on a budget. I am soon ti but an LG G3, or G Pro 2. I now own an LG G Pro. One of the best Smartphones for the money. Its powerful. Fast. Doesn't lag. And has an amazingly brilliant Display. The G Pro is a handheld desktype office computer. I wouldn't have known what I know now, had it not been for the little Sonic U8650. It is a perfect first buyer smartphone. Or First buyer with a Low Budget. At one time it was for me. The Sonic U8650 was my only way to communicate with family and friends around the world. Via Skype, or better Watsap. And my friends in the Orient, via Viber. For 14 months this was my only daily driver. I could depend on it to run. Conserve battery power. It allowed me to work unobstructed. No problems. And it allowed me to tether it to my laptop. I can't recall any real problems with the Sonic..if you want an in-depth assessment, goto the beginning of this section of opinions. Look under my name. I gave 2 opinions based on live actual, unbiased experience. Some here have issues.

First you need to set the APN. Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names If you don't know the settings you can use an app like tweaker, but it neeeds wifi connection to configure your APN Once APN is set and selected, you simply go to Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks and select Data enabled. If your operator is a reseller of the real operator you may need to enable roaming as well.

One of the worst phones i ever had. The battery is fine, lasts a lot, but with the applications, there are a lot of problems. The phone can`t handle more that 2 applications and sometimes i had problems closing the applications and found some running in the background that i never opened. About the price, it was very cheap in my country[Romania] and i`m kind of sick of this phone. Can`t wait wait to get rid of it xD

I have this phone for about a year now. I had no problem for the first half year or so. But since a couple of months it started to randomly restart itself. Now since a few weeks the music just suddenly stops playing, after about 3-5 minutes. I'm in Dar es Salaam and bought mine at tigo office. Hardly three months and the touchscreen is dead. I wonder if it gets destroyed permanently just by sweat. I gravely doubt its build quality despite it is from a reputable company (huawei). I recommend not to buy this phone until one is satisfied (mainly from reviews) that its touchscreen is not prone to premature death. Otherwise it is satisfactory considering its price.

try cleaning cache partition and dalvik cache in cwm (volume up and power together while turned of) also when you do that go to fix permissions (advanced). but if you dont want to do that alone, you have waranty and go to store let they repair it... i have it for more than a year and i rooted it and all other things i could do and the phone is like a charm, better than first day. i didnt regret ever to buy it. but it has only 176 mb of ram and you have to deal with it there's no effective way to have more, only to buy better phone. but it's not that big lag anyway.

The first 10 monthes using this phone where great, it was a cheap android that had everything i needed. I dropped it sometimes and it seemed to keep it's shape... the memory isnt very good, you can only have a handful of games at a time. but then after 10 monthes i started having problems, screen would work so i couldnt do ANYTHING, i couldn't even type a simple text message or go to my home page. It became REALLY slow and i kept screaming out in frustration. I kept restarting my phone, but that didnt work. overall; not a long-lasting phone, i'm not very impressed with it. Don't get it. :)

Had this phone for a year now and it's not the best.. The first few months are great, but now mine restarts every now and again. I've reset the whole phone, but that didn't make a difference. Great price for great phone. I doesn't have much RAM and CPU is slow so it wouldn't be a good gaming machine or somewhat like this, but this phone is really great! Also the camera is recording not at VGA resolution. It is recording at WVGA (800x480 instead of 640x480)and the framerate differs depending on lightning. 15FPS to 30FPS

I've had this phone for about a year and it is not the best.. I have been putting up with it for a while, but recently the battery has been dying extremely quick. Problems i have experienced with this phone are that it freezes regularly if you have apps on it such as facebook and if you play games or use the internet a lot. I installed Avast antivirus software, and it works! Probably you can choose other antivirus, but I prefer to use this one. Also you can find other useful programs on the internet such as: facebook, skype, viber, advanced task killer etc. and install them. I've just get it as a present from Sweden, and it's really nice phone! It has a lot of functions, wi - fi connection is flawless, and there aren't some bad sides exepting it's camera, which doesn't have flash, so you just can't take pictures at night. All in all it's very good and useful device!

This is a fantastic phone, has everything I need and supports all applications, most games, (for killing time, just demanding 3D games are not supported). The biggest complaint is the lack of autofocus, what prevents me to install Google Goggles, and also can not use the application to scan the text - like Evernote's. I dropp this phone from a height of 1.5m (about 5 feet) onto concrete, complete disintegrated into pieces. After that, I thought it was over!!! But everything still works, I tested all the sensors and they work. Unbelievable! :)

That's totally normal, my phone (LG Optimus Black) has 512 MB ram but it shows 150-180 MB average free memory..Apps eat the ram wildly, so with 256 MB ram it's normal, actually it might be consider even high :D

We just bought this little device for my friend, and actually we are a little bit dissapointed with its specifications..I mean here in Turkey its price is about 250 euros, think about it :s The screen size is quiet enough and also it's the same size with the iphones so that's not a problem but the resolution and color rendering, god these are awfull..The user interface is ver lagging but that's because here in Turkey it comes with the gsm providers special rom and it's loaded full of useless apps and can't be rooted :s

Every phone has that "up to" information.It means when the phone is in stand by mode. If I turn off Wifi/BT/3G/GPS/Voice when I don't use it,it can last for 3 days with normal use.When I use it more often,it lasts 2 days.

yes you can use it without sim. you can surf on google maps from your phone and the maps that you have navigated before are stored at memory, and when you need to navigate again(now offline, not connected on network)the google maps works at offline mode and you can navigate throw these regions and with gps on.

I can tell you all for one thing. This phone is an awesome phone at the price you pay for. Even more it delivers the performance package as some higher end models of Samsung or HTC. The battery life is one of the best in its class. Browing speed is equally satisfying but I feel this phone should come in 1GB at least as compared to the current 160MB. Some apps cannot be transfered to SD as it is rooted. To be honest the camera is not that bad just that it does not have a AWB built in and so when you take in dark scenes you may need to adjust it to daylight. So far I have compared U8650 Sonic to my Samsung Galaxy Wonder and my Galaxy Wonder hang on me till the mother board crashed just within 4 weeks of use. My U8650??? Well it is my best bet so far

hello, I've got one of these Huawei U8650 sonic and I've been having problems starting the phone up and signing in. It shows the screen were you login using ur email and password, but its got a little pad-lock at the top of the screen and says "Too many pattern attempts!" and I'm using the correct user name and password for the phone. Yes I can, look at your contacts settings, there will be some choices like simkart, phone, facebook, gmail and so on..u should select only phone or sim..not both of them, if both of them are selected then device will not display the pictures of your contacts..cause there will be 2 entries for all of them. so copy your contacts to your phone memory and dsiable simkart contacts, then u will be able to see pictures.

To be quite honest, I know not one thing about the Nokia. I am at this moment using the u8650. Utilizing 3g in Marbella Spain, on the bus. Marbella is in the area known as the Costa del Sol. True to form, the sun is at an angle that if I were using my former "Premium " Samsung, or Nokia, I couldn't because of reflections. What I'm saying is, this is a very well designed phone. For the few $$ you spend, great value. Just understand, the Android Operating System is a force to be reckoned with. By the way, I run my business with this. 5 Gmail accounts. SKYPE, VIBER. TWITTER. I WILL eventually move up to a Moto Droid ( keyboard, 1mb ram) but now this more than suits my purpose, which was to see the wisdom of going Android. And with HUAWEI. So far looking pretty good.

I was using Samsung Jet before I bought this phone. At first I was very sceptic about this phone and I did not know what to expect from this phone...Today when I have it I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I am suprised (positivly) how good this phone is build. Speed in my opinion is good for every day use...especially when I am comparing it with Jet (although Jet is not that fast even though it has 800 MHz processor)...for those who want to move from dummy phone to smartphone and they do not want to spend a fortune on it, this is the best buy for them in my opinion. You can not expect from a budget phone something great, something super fast, with loads of memory, camera... So, this is great phone for me...I use it for calling, texting, emails, browsing the web, Facebook, I use it as a gps device, gaming (not games like PES 2012 or Assassins Creed, I play games like Angry Birds, Doodle Jump etc., but it can run games I have mentioned before), I use it for listening the music (but you will have to buy new headphones because those that came with phone are not that great), sometimes I use the camera but I don't need it actually (I use it for taking pictures or recording videos of my friends when we are having fun...it is good for basic shooting), the screen is great, very good touch screen, it is loud enough to hear it when you are in crowd, it feels great in my hands becouse it has a rubberized back cover, typing is very good. I have 4 gb mmc and that is enough for all my music and pictures. As I said I am more than pleased with this phone and I recommend it for people who want simple smartphone for everyday use and a phone that is cheap and excellent at the same moment. Huawei is great :)

camera isn't so good because it's just 3.2Mpixel fixed focus, so in condition with low light and the object near camera it shows some bluring effect, but if you use camera out in natyre at daylight, pics are fine. I think that is a good camera for casual shot. video are capturet at 480*640 (very good format for 3.2Mpix). we can't prettend co much from this entry level smartphone because it isn't a smartphone dedicated for multimedia. at overall it fine Net is very fast at android OS, but particularly for Sonic I can say: browser speed is ok if you use stock browser or dolphin hd browser (full browser like desktop browser with java plug-in & flash for dolphin), if you download an application or something else or watch video at youtube, the experience of net speed is like you are on a linux computer (very fast versus windows 7 computers), because android is a type of small linux os that use simple net protocol and allow the applications to use the whole net speed. I have try speedtest.net test at my phone and at my laptop, no difference.

I've had this phone for over 3 weeks by now and I am really satisfied by it. It is my first smartphone and I am happy I've chosen it because it has everything I need for a considerably small price. Yes, the camera is horrible and I don't use it at all, but to be honest, having a separate professional camera I don't really need it. The battery life is quite ok, at first I used to charge it every 2 days because of extensive use/gaming/browsing, now it usually holds for 3 days. Overall it is a great phone, works without flaws and feels rather solid while in your hands (compared to most other phones). I would definitely advice it to others!

I recommend you to buy Huawei U8650 Sonic. It is far superior in every aspect! I was suspicious at the begining and i compared live the both phones (Samsung Fit & Huawei U8650 Sonic) and i must say that Huawei U8650 Sonic is faster, has much more pixels and bigger screen resolution, the life battery is 3 days with mobile data on and calls + sms, and not at last has a much more beautiful design. I don't regret my choice.

my battery last for 2 days and more with 4 hours on Wi-Fi, 1 hour on call, web surfing, playing games, listen music. in overall, if you use the smartphone for more than 4-5 hours(time which the screen is on, and programs are in foreground/active) and 1++ hour on call, it last for fully 2+ days or 48 hours (android system has a little program at menu, which indicates the % of battery and the % of battery consuming from different domain, such as wi-fi, display, system/application, idle state, and radio(which consume more battery than others)). so, if you are a hard user the battery of Huawei Sonic staly solid for 2++ days, with moderate use you can reach 4 days, with normal usage - more than 4 days (some short calls and sms, only). tell if you want other info. about this phone. I have a month with this smartphone, and looks excellent for its price.

Sorry, but it wasn't the root folder, but on the memory stick, in the folder media\audio\notifications. There you can copy the .mp3 you wish!

pretty great phone. hardly experienced any bugs so far after extreme two days usage. battery life is kinda okay. wi-fi works PERFECTLY. better on my friends' samsung phones which is quite surprising to me. the only very bad thing is the camera. it sucks. really needs some 'night mode' and flash. when it's a bit dark i can hardly take photos and where is some proper auto-focus?! really missing that... because i tend to travel a lot and visit events so that hardly satisfies me. and the auto rotation has issues sometimes. didn't work properly for like 3 hours... and now it works perfectly again. all in all - one of the best xmas presents i ever received and the best phone i had so far. strongly recommend!

I just can't get over the price point vs value for this phone. I wondered how effective the onscreen koard would be. I have big fingers. Actually after practice not bad. THE thing though that has me sold on it ( actually 2 ) 1) the speech-texting. I can "type" whole emails without touching the kboard. Just use the mike. ALL for 74 euros!! Talking about a cheap date!! LIKELY one of the best best kept secrets of the Android world. Mine was 74euros at the Spanish Yoigo store. ( Normally 79) Up front, so you know, NO camera flash. No front-faced camera. 3.2 mp main camera. 256 mb ram. IF however you can get by that you have a very credible piece of kit. 3.5" screen. Full access to the Android store. 2 accounts to gmail backing up and syncing. Radio. up to 32 mb of SD card access. not too heavy. Phone speaker is ok. Most of my contacts are in other countries so it's hard to say on spkr quality. But I am honestly not complaining, there's little but the things I mentioned at the beginning of the article. Sure on day I'll give it to my kids. But till then It hold my attention quite nicely, thank-you!!

Walked out of the phone store and immediately turned to let it face the sun. STILL could see the screen. SOLD. Paid my 79euros Android 2.3. GPRS. FULL Android experience. Battery lasts all day with email syncing. Calls around the world. No games just work. Dual gmail accounts ( kept separate ). Nice screen as mentioned. Bass with the "cost saver" earpieces is nice. The earpieces are not comfortable. The sound overall is ok. Overall I am NOT surprised at my level of satisfaction. I did my homework. THIS site DRUG IT'S COLLECTIVE HEELS in even acknowledging the unit. NOTE stillno report. WHY.... I am impressed. YOUTUBE plays with no stutter.
