For those who don't know this, there are custom ROMs for this device on 4PDA. I am currently using CM13 (Marshmallow). It's very smooth and stable. H model can use HV ROMs. You need to install TWRP first, preferably 3.0.2 (by Jemmini).

I had it for about a year now and what a tab. For the money you get what you NEED- the display quality is excellent, ive been playing real racing 3 on it and it seems to cope with the high graphic demand, its fast enough and it stands out from from the dull black tabs with its colourful back covers. However, after a while the bulky bezel gets to you and the weight of it is a bit on the heavy side. I love it and would recommend this budget tab to anyone.

I am very happy with this tablet. The design, the quality of the screen and speakers, the responsiveness of the cpu, I am completely satisfied with everything. I use several apps for my work as a sound engineer and I also use it to read e-books, watch movies, music, etc. I was happily surprised with the battery life too, which is important to me. Also, the lenovo "shareit" up is great for exchanging files between desktop pc, laptop, tablet and smartphone, especially if someone works on multimedia, like me.

Had this tablet for over a year now and I can honestly say that its only flaws are its slightly on the heavy side and it can run rather hot on continuous load. Plays 720p and 800p without any stuttering, wifi signal range is above average and the battery can go all day on full load. The bezels are quite thick and the camera is near useless, but for that price its nearly unbeatable.

This tablet is AWESOME. It's super-fast, sounds great with the DOLBY/STEREO speakers. The battery is a beast! It lasts days without recharging and I don't bother turning off the wifi and the 3g to conserver it. Charging is fast (an hour or so). The games run smoothly without even enabling the 2d/3d acceleration. The camera is OK and the I/O is amazing. The contrast goes way beyond my needs and the tablet is topf for sure. I RECOMMEND IT

Well worth the money for this tablet. Battery life is superb. With OTA KitKat update, this tablet is smooth and lag free. The twin stereo speakers are a blast to use as is the IPS screen. Cannot travel without it now. Complements my S920 nicely. With only 1GB RAM, the performance is truly remarkable.

Apparently there re two models for A8-A5500 pad one is with MTK 8382 the other is MTK6582 because that is what is on the Lenovo.ru Forum versions.(6582)unlike ours which is 8382. or am I wrong?? Becoz in the build.prop for the A8-5500 on Russia is stated that the MTK version is 6582. So we cannot use the ROM from russian version anybody knows where to download the 8382 version 4.4.2 for HV type version???

Question: Is it possible to download apps in play store just using the mobile data (3G) of this tab? I tried a couple of times but I encounter errors in downloading. My unit is A-8 50 5500-HV. Anybody had encountered this problem?

Mine does that too. I noticed that battery indicator gets stuck for hours around 62-65%, then resumes what i consider normal behavior, and then gets stuck again around 30-32%. And when it reaches around 20 percent drops down to zero in about one hour of light use. Also, the backplate is squeaky-squishy. Auto-brightness is useless (too dark), but there are apps for that. In the latest ota update for the HV version (141007_ROW) infinite wallpaper scrolling didn't work, and font was too small so i reflashed 130808A_ROW. Other than that, it is a decent tablet, good value.

bought the A8-5500 jast month and all was good until 4 days ago when i put it on charge for a few hours , when i came back to use it the touch screen had stopped working. I bought the tab on 13 june 2014.The tab works well until today (25 Sept 2014) and I got no problem at all.Mine is original ;) My tab was upgraded to Android Kit Kat by itself. I mean the firmware upgrade. No need to go to the mobile phone centre at all. If yours are original,then you will get the notification of the firmware upgrade. But you have to wait patiently and make sure u have good network connection(WiFi) and sufficient battery because it takes long period of time to finish the upgrade. The performance is super duper awesome because of the quad core processor. High recommendation for ppl out there to buy this. Make sure the original one. The original package : 3 pin charger + usb cable + the flip case.

I have tried to use GPS on my 3G a_5500 and have discovered that it isn't in the machine. As the specification states that it is should I ask for a price reduction from theshop or a refund from lenovo. To qualify my statement this is the second aas_5500 that I have had the 1st developed a fault which caused the screen to jump erraticly into other applications when it was connected to the power supply so I returned it to the shop and it was replaced with this one. This one has also started to do the same. I think the cables are inadequate. I have two hardware test apps which can show the GPS status and neither of them show it as existing or being active. i recently bought a Lenovo A5500-F 8" tablet and it was working great. But few hours ago i noticed that on one edge of the screen acts a bit weird than the other's if i have the tablet in landscape i have to touch above the home button/back button/recent apps button to actually press it and when i touch those buttons it wont work at all. What i have done is put on the developer tools on the tablet and put show touches so i see whats going on and what i notice is that when i touch the 3 buttons where im supposed to the touch actually appears right on the edge of the screen no where near my finger??? This is not due to system updates since it was doing it before the system updates. Nothing too major but it gets annoying sometimes when i repeatedly tap the home button .ect nothing works.?? any idea what the problem could be?

I bought it two weeks ago. Camera is superb, autofocus. Display is awesome, no lagging, very fast. Updated to 4.4.2 via software update (wi-fi). The sound is good, dolby digital makes much of a difference. Very lightweight and thin. Comfortable to handle. And the last, but not least - battery. For two weeks I had recharged it twice. More or less 5-6 days with a lot of using it. Somebody asked for standby time... well... i don't know for sure but... maybe a month? Bottom line - great piece from Lenovo!
