Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 8.0 - User Reviews

  • Amazing tablet. Use it after 5 years and it works great. Recently I copied everything and made a factory reset. Helped a lot. Ok it takes a bit to load and some bigger apps also but everythings one they load they run smooth and battery is very good :)

  • What does this record video in?

  • Do this tab support Stylus/ anypen technology ? Windows version does, but not sure about android version. Plz tell if anyone owns it

  • Do this tab support Stylus/ anypen technology ?

  • Yoga 2 830F. Worked very well for a while. Then I upgraded from Android 4.4.x to 5.0 Since that time, the tablet charges erratically; it does not show as charging, the pwoer gauge remains at 0%. You never know if it is still charged, it works, but you don't know for how long. When turned off, plugging it into a charger turns it on from off. When it does seem to be charging (light surronding the power button "breathing" slowly, it can start making noises like it's turning on and off, etc. Honestly, first time I am so disappointed with a Lenovo/IBM portable computing device. The design is awesome, it performs well (when it's working), and the support is atrocious.

  • The tablet has a nice design. Other adventages: . Thats it. The device has design flaws. It gets scratched where the stand is moving. Also the plastic is loosing color on the bottom. After several months it gets slow and slow and discharges fast. Also after factory reboot. Restarts, lags on its own. It's to trash. So basically no warm feelings to this crappy device.

  • try a mic on a headset or earbuds that can with your phone. something is not right with my mic too. The onboard mic seemed to work after i unplugged the headset . ???

  • Worst device ever had,, very slow, poor battery and bad durability

  • This biggest rubbish I ever used. Don't even think to spend money buy it. If you own it go put it in the toilet, and buy anything else except this brand. I will never buy Lenovo again and never tell someone buy it to.

  • I have yoga 2 830F from 2014. It's a fantastic tablet for web browsing and youtube as it has fantastic loud sound! That are the needs I have from a tablet and I am pretty impressed from the screen, sound and battery as it is a beast and a recharge it every 2 days. I don't play games I have my PC for that! The only disadvantages are the auto brightness of the screen with sucks and the bad use of the SD card as there is no option to move pictures videos via Android settings! Finally some times it needs restart and you must consider that I shut it down every night!

  • can you install windows 10 on this?

  • Use kingoroot to root the device. Then install chamelophone. With chamelophone u can generate a new imei or input the original one if you still have it

  • All Chinese products are like this, use for a month or so and throw! I am feeling sad after buying this product which does not even work for a year and I spent 20K! Horrible one!

  • Hy I updated my Lenovo yoga tab 2 8' but lost my imei n can not use cellular network can anyone help me in this matter please

  • Hi I'm upgrade my tablet to Android 5 but my wi Fi didn't work anyone have problem like me please help!

  • The tablet is very nice

  • The battery life does suck, but everything else is very nice. This was easily the best 8" tablet for its time.

  • i don't know people writing very bad comment about the battery , how come they may have issues in it but for me , i got the tablet yesterday and the battery is awesome , incredible

  • We had 3of the yoga 2 tablet.they are fantastic but the charging unit gone in all 3. One only just past 12months old so Argos would not change as was over 12months it's obviously something that needs looking into to happen to all 3tablets in space 2years. They were Christmas gifts to my children.

  • My tab is not charging. It is stuck in youtube.I cant switch it off or charge it.Back button is not working.Nothing is working just stuck

  • I have purchased this crap four months back. I am facing a problem that when I am in work suddenly switching off and again on. No movement happened in that case. And now the speaker problem happened. I have taken it to customer care centre they don't have a solution. Very bad.

  • can not get my Lenovo yoga 2 tablet to turn on. any suggestions?

  • A lot of cases at Aliexpress ok.

  • The battery life is no where near advertised, I can't find any phone cases for it. IT STILL HASNT UPDATED TO MARSHMALLOW. The speakers aren't as loud as anticipated. Camera quality is only average but there is no flash so it's useless when there's no light. Relatively smooth when running though and not too laggy. 5/10.

  • When is gonna update to Marshmallow???

  • Any solution without root?

  • please dont buy this crap bcos of its battery.they write on it that stands upto 18 hrs but you got only 4 hrs. i think may be a drain valve in battery compartment and losing charge in that hole bcos u cant shut down that drain valve.... haha

  • hey bro..... i am using yoga 2. 8 ...but not getting 4G even after upgrading my sim to 4G. Any solutions you could share?

  • I've been having some issues with battery life since the update. Friend of mine has forwarded this fix which apparently works quite well. on page 2 is a Tasker project file you can use to import

  • Yup. It does!

  • I have windows 10 on my laptop, it wouldn't recognize the yoga. But then I disabled the Battery saver on the yoga, and it worked “paired”.

  • I have Window 7 in my lenovo laptop and it does not recognize my lenovo Yoga Tablet 2-830F! (the internal memory and the sd card of 16 gb). Help!

  • Just l have bought lenovo yoga tab 2_830 L version Can anyone inform me please whether its SIM card supports voice calls & messaging or it's data SIM card only ? Another question if you don't mind, As I haven't updated android version yet, Do you advise me to update it to lollipop version ? I'm afraid of updating as many users faced different problems after updating . Please tell honestly . It's my first experience with an android device

  • Greetings, Just bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 8'' Android version and upgraded to the latest android version supported by the tablet (lolipop - 5.0.1) and the problem that other users are having with the WiFi connection is due to the Security type set to the WiFi Network. It seems that the android update 5.x for the tablet does not support WEP Encryption for Security of the WiFi network and that is why the tablet is not able to connect to some WiFi networks. *If the WiFi network is encrypted with WPA/WPA2, there was no problem connecting to the network and did not have any disconnects during the online sessions. One more fun fact regarding gaming on the Yoga 2 is that on the default version of android (4.x), Hearthstone is not supported on the Yoga 2 but when updating the firmware to lolipop, I had no problem playing the game and it really runs fine on it.

  • just upgrades to lollipop 5.01 and my Antutu benchmark ... degraded from 49,000 to 32,0000

  • Lenovo yoga 2 830F has a slot for micro sd only..not simcard

  • Your Yoga 2 8 should at least last 8 hours, continuous Web surfing. Perhaps you should turn the brightness down a bit, you can also turn on the battery saver, or you might have some more apps running in the background.

  • I have purchased this item before two days. There was a aticker on screem mentioning that the battery lasts for 18 hrs. But unfortunately it longs only maximum 5 Hrs. Revise your purchase decision. I don't know whether it is only for me.

  • Do not buy this crap bcos they tell the battery lasts upto 12hrs but my crap gives me 3 hrs only. Evertime need charging

  • my lenovo yoga tab 2 8.0 crash on COC always, hope they release bug fixes, btw mine updated to android Lollipop 5.0.1 just this may 20, 2016

  • It looks to me your yoga is the same as mine NO slot for sim-card. Mine has two chambers, one with a slot the other without, the first chamber has a slot it is for a micro-SD card, but the second chamber has NO slot to push a card in.

  • I have lenovo yoga tablet 2 830f base on the specs it has a sim card slots, but when I try to insert my micro sim card on the tablet it's hard to close the cover. That's why I can't use my mobile data.

  • You can download Word & Excel from google play store.

  • can i install microsoft word and excell to this??? thnx for the reply...

  • My yoga Tab 2 830F has a microphone, it is on the opposite side of the USB. I can record sounds surprisingly good. But my Yoga hasn't got a slot for a sim-card, so no phone-calls.

  • Without microphone in yoga2 how we can make calls in skype, viber and watsapp?

  • Bought this tablet, the 830 CL model, loved it for the first month, now it's rendered almost useless due the lollipop update,I've read a lot of comments before updating as I had a lot of doubt about the update as I've heard a lot of negative feedback about it,yet I took a leap of faith and I did it regardless and I wish I never did,the tablet is ruined for me now,so for the sake of other customers who may fall in the same horrible mistake,I will make a thorough comparison between both software versions, mentioning my experience with both, here it goes: Stock Firmware,Kitkat,no updates: -draws a lot of similarities with the latest version of IOS, the notification toggles that extend from the bottom of the screen,The recent apps menu, the separate notification bar from the top,The UI overall has a consistent form and aims at a certain form factor even if that being a replicate of another UI. -Decent customization across the board, with the most handy features being the screenshot button, double tap to lock and the Dolby app that could almost double the sound performance on the tablet with the presets. ====>The Negatives and the bugs: -Slow animations all the time,in the recent apps menu and some of the standard apps like google play and so on,some apps run fast and some seems to be slow, they don't lag, just slow. -Lag,heavy lag in some simple games,a prime example of that is sky chasers, while the tablet performs admirably in most conditions and chugs through most demanding without a sweat,it sometimes struggles badly with some of the simpler games. -Move to SD feature not working properly, only two massive games were able to actually move their data to the SD card successfully, hearthstone and world of tanks, anything else was a mere illusion ,as for the other games, they seem to be moving their data to the SD card but they're not,in reality they're just moving the APK only to the SD card,it seems that after all,we'd have to pick and choose which games we can have on the device. -Aggressive thermal throttling on every game,EVERY GAME,no matter how light that game is,as soon as the GPU kicks in,brightness is reduced and you get the thermal throttling message. -Despite the battery being good for what it is and providing 5 hours of screen on time on average,it's unstable, losing 10% overnight, and losing 2 or 3% within a minute at times and gaining them back on the next minute and it's not even charging -The Dolby app returns to it's standard preset after you unplug your headphone from the tablet. -sometimes the tablet wouldn't wake up after sleep, you have to push the power button several times until it wakes up. Despite all these bugs, the tablet was still perfectly usable and a joy to use as well. -----LOLLIPOP update, latest firmware update: Lenovo chose this time around to go with a stock android version,a move I was very welcoming of,as a stock android version would help increase the performance, reduce bugs, increase stability, reduce bloatware and show you android the way it was meant to be,however I was surprised that this was an ill revised version of android, they just updated it without any bug testing or quality assurance, like they were forced to update the tablet against their will. -The good: -Noticeable jump in performance,The UI is a lot smoother now and the apps that use to have slow animation are now running buttery smooth, although the recent apps menu is still somewhat slow, games run better too with some exceptions, hearthstone ran buttery smooth,in fact it's the best device so far I've seen running hearthstone,it ran it almost on par with a fully fledged PC,and I ran that game on significantly more powerful android devices and was met with underwhelming performance. -Cleaner,simpler UI that goes in tandem with what google had mind, with the pleasing material design aesthetics. -No memory Leakage problems, since 5.0.1 was infamous for having it,glad Lenovo at least bothered to fix this. -Most of the bugs from Kitkat are now gone but are replaced with even more hideous bugs that outright render this tablet useless. ======>The BAD and the bugs: -Ridiculous locking on the SD card,no game is able to move their data to the SD card, except for one game, world of tanks, anything else failed miserably,so that means you're now even more limited with the choice of games you can have. -Without doing a factory reset, the tablet suffers random reboots or lockdowns,we're it gets stuck on the booting off animation and stays like that until you manually restart the tablet. -Oddly,the Youtube audio is always out of sync. -Some games wouldn't function anymore after the update, even after a fresh install, some of them showing an overlay of black textures over everything, making gameplay impossible, some games lagged even worse after the lollipop update, sky chasers performed even worse here. -all customization is removed from the tablet,no double to lock or anything, basically it's a true vanilla version of android. -Battery life is now even worse, losing over 10% of battery on standby within 5 hours, with an abysmal screen on time of 3 and half hours or 4 hours at most, considering this tablet outclasses any other tablet within the same range with sheer battery capacity, that of a 6400 mAh capacity. -And the worst offender being the horrible WiFi connection, sometimes interrupting for long periods at a time or being extremely slow,I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when this happens,so I have to turn off the WiFi until the tablet decides that it wants to work properly again,it's becoming an absolute pain to use the tablet, since most of its usage depends heavily on WiFi. -Even more aggressive thermal throttling now, with the brightness being reduced dramatically,to below 35% percent of brightness, which is absurd. That mostly concludes my problems with the lollipop "update" if that's the right word for it,I personally am not going to buy another Lenovo device again,if they don't redeem themselves by fixing this mess of an update or providing a well revised, stable, bug free version of marshmallow,Lenovo seems to care only for gaining new customers, not keeping them, this horrible customer care service will be their downfall,a shame really, because the YOGA lineup is one their best efforts yet when it comes to android tablets, good pricing, fantastic design,an exquisite DAC unit from wolfson providing a rich audio experience using the speakers and the headphone jack and a fantastic display, promising hardware, horrible software. I wish I could back to kitkat but it seems to be impossible,as Manufacturers don't provide a way to go back to older version of android in case if the new version has proven to be problematic, not to mention intel made it quite the pain to root any of their android devices including this one,it's even harder to root on lollipop now and so I stand waiting for the dim hope of a fix or a marshmallow that would probably never arrive,Never again Lenovo.

  • My yoga 2 tab (8 in) shuts off abruptly (due to over heating ? on 3G ) , some times refuses to turn on from sleep, and very recently displays one, two or three vertical lines (on portrait mode - due to over heating ? on 3G) . Once it hangs, It takes a lot of time to reboot it - by holding the power key. I need to replace the mother board. But it is not available in the market.

  • Why it suddenly go to sleep mode after i upgrade to latest lollipop version ,?? Now it will not open/ power on until now, what is the solution for this think tank engineers of lenovo, my unit is 1.86ghz cpu speed and with simcard slot 830lc

  • hello,i have a problem with the sim reader,it has to be replaced, where could i find one?

  • I have a YOGA Tablet 2-830F It hasn't exactly the same specifications as the one here. I don't have a slot for a sim, which this one has, but mine has a 4 core Processor 1.86 GHZ. The one here 1.33 GHZ. the rest of it is the same. So I think not all are exactly as this one here. You have to ask the company.

  • I have yoga Tablet , can I make phone call with the tab.

  • It is working good since i bought it approx 1year ago .. i also updated it to the latest available version of Android

  • I just did the latest update today and its working fine.

  • Please do not update to lollipop. The software caused overheating and as a result, fried the motherboard. Luckily, it was still under warranty. The best version of android for this tablet is kikat.

  • My YOGA Pro 2 has been doing this ever since I got it. It randomly freezes and restarts. I think that's an issue with the device software.

  • My tablet suddenly getting strucks, switched off and switched on and then working normally. Any one has this problem. What's the solution. Please tell me if you know.

  • I used the first model of Yoga Tab 8.0, after some months it hangs and dead, i didn't find any service center also in Jeddah Saudi Arabia.

  • My Yoga2-830F has 4 Core Processor 1.86 GHZ 2G RAM. If you go to Settings you can find the info.

  • I have a similar problem when it doesn't start right away. I have to try a least 5 times. I hold the power button-in for about 3 seconds or more. I do this 5 or more times and eventually it will start, it takes longer when it's cold and hasn't run for some time. Also I have to draw my lock screen pattern many times until it shows. Otherwise I'm very happy with it, I have been using it for about 4mts.

  • Use the original included charger. Reset the tablet with pressing Volume_down + Power and keep pressed for some time. Then try charging again.

  • Hi all I just bought it around one week. Once I plugged it with charger.the day after it did not turn on. I talked with service company and they instructed that I should plug it and then press and hold the swiching key for 3seconds and then I can work with it. Until this post I did this for 3times and I guess something is wrong. Does any one face with such problem?? Thank you

  • True true. Dnt update to lollipop

  • I am writing this on a yoga tab 2. Excellent for games. Plug in a PS3 controller with a micro USB adapter and download Modern Combat 5. Dices right through it. U can use a PS4 controller but there is a bit of lag even wi5h syncing apps. Reading is better than my kindle due to the unconventional shape and auto screen switch that u can feel relax your eyes. The sound is the best I've seen in a tablet. I own several tablets including Galaxy tab S and Switch 12 and this Yoga sits on the night stand kicking Hulu or netflix every night. The Dolby is not a gimmicks. Good Luck and differentiation. Glad and stay blessed friends.

  • What would you like to download

  • I cannot download anything can you explain why and what I can do about it. Thank you

  • hi oops,i heared lenovo yoga 2 has 1.86 MHZ in GPU but here is 1.33. which one is correct?! is it suitable for playing games like GTA?! write me on this please. thanks [email protected]

  • First charge-usage 15hours durring 3days....made lolipop update then..2nd 3rd charge...battery life reduced to 6hours....should i downgrade to 4.4?.let me know your opinion if you have since longer time

  • Having a problem with my lenovo tablet yoga 8 after upgrading the system from jellybean to kitkat. The screen keep on display 'lenovo' and cannot go through to the main screen. After reset using the factory reset also same problem!! anyone can help me to resolve the problem??

  • Yes brother it's work very good with 4g including voice call. I am using 4g thatswhy am sure.

  • You are right brother but just think there is so much difference between 250USD and 400USD. As you said that this is best in this price.

  • Remember one thing that never update your device without customer info. Only update when specifications said that updateable otherwise you will face problem after update.

  • Lenovo Yoga tablet 2 8.0 is not the best tablet... but definitely is best value of money! Price around USD250 but u get the spec almost as good as Xperia Z3 tablet compact which is around USD400! What else we want to complain about?

  • You shouldn't buy product from online shopping. If you want best product then go for company authorized shop then u will get good one.

  • If you like tablet then it would be your best tablet I am using it since 4 months and its amazing

  • Yes.... it support

  • my apps in yoga tab is automatically getting uninstalled and saying that app not installed when i am trying to operate.. i can see the app icon but it is not working. and then the gmail is automatically sign off all the accounts and asking me to give a login account for back up.. feeling the worst. i chosed this expecting it will work better thann my grand. but it is not so.. so can any one give me a nice solution please give..

N many of book readers I use in my cellphone does not work properly in this tab.just want to enquire if anyone else is having similar complaints? Should I replace this piece or exchange it with some other brand ???

  • @altruistic & @anony 82 , You can check XDA Lenovo tablet section, i have seen a few people reporting this problems in various situations. Some turned off the screen, then couldn't turn it on, unless they hold the power button for ~1 minute or so, for others, this happened while using the device. I have also seen the complaints in a foreign language forum such as 4pda.ru (use Google translate if you got the nerves to put up with it). there were more people complaining about this issue over there, and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer as to why this happens. but none had this issue with the older firmwares from October/November 2014. So it's a safe bet that it is has something to do with the newest firmware updates. although it shouldn't happen very often, only rarely! Regarding to your other question as to when will it be rectified... well, that totally depends on Lenovo! All i know is someone posted that they've recieved a reply via e-mail from the Lenovo support, that they are aware of this issue and are working on a fix. Unfortunately, these OTA updates they keep releasing, don't come with change logs. so basically, it's a guess work. Maybe they change it in the next one, maybe the one after that... Lenovo is relatively new to Android. and they're not known for their timely updates, so far. So it might take awhile. Good luck!

  • Have you got any links to those reports/threads? I'm experiencing the same thing with my Yoga 8 2 tablet. I thought it was a problem with custom launchers.

  • Nexus 9 price is at least 50% higher than Yoga tablet 2... of course, everything is better... You are just like comparing BMW with Toyota/Honda...

  • Nexus 9 vs Yoga Tablet 2 8 inch Size: Nexus is more compact, lighter and slimmer Nexus has less bezel area 30% vs 39% for Yoga Display: Res. 2048x1536 vs 1920x1200 Nexus tops Yoga because of larger display, better Colour Reproduction, sRGB Coverage and higher Contrast Ratio Great for browsing photos Aspect Ratio: 4:3 vs 16:10 Yoga is better for watching videos, Nexus is better for everything else Proc: Tegra K1 vs Atom Z3745 Atom Z3745 is slightly less powerful than the previous generation Tegra 4 Tegra K1 is the successor to Tegra 4 So Tegra K1 absolutely blows out the Atom in terms of performance specially in Graphics Both are 64bit But the Tegra K1 has access to the more powerful and efficient V8 instruction set as it is an ARM based processor RAM/ROM: Yoga has 16 GB + Expandable Micro SD Nexus loses to Yoga as it has only 16 GB of non expandable memory Both support USB OTG so you can attach PDs, External Hard Drives, Keyboard etc. 16 GB is sufficient for Apps, Heavy Games can be backed up and installed later, USB OTG can handle your Multimedia So Nexus 16 GB should suffice the casual user Both have 2 GB RAM Software/Hardware: Nexus has Android 5.0 Lollipop from day one! • It does not have any flash. Does not get heated after using for long hrs. In fact the design will support in Holding the device easily fr long. It does not come aid ear phones. Lenovo shud come aid good accessories fr yoga 2. Even screen guard is not available 😕. The device in itself is really a good one.

  • It does not have any flash. Does not get heated after using for long hrs. In fact the design will support in Holding the device easily fr long.

  • Can micro sdxc 64 GB class 10 UHS 1 memory card can be used in Lenovo yoga 2 tablet 830LC

  • hey, i want to buy a new tab. which is better. one of the guy already purchased yoga 2 10inch. i saw and fell in love with. but any body suggest it is better for my interior business purposes.

  • Change your option from lenovo smart settings.. the yellowish is for reading books.. change it to normal

  • I am using almost fortnightly. i agree the display turns from white to yellowish after 5 to 6 seconds of usage. Then it comes to normal. But more hanging problems are there in the tab. sometimes the screen itself bisect into each other. once you restart the system, it comes to normal. My final advice instead of spending 21k to lenovo, u can go for ipad. slightly higher in cost, but trouble free.

  • Please someone answer these 3 specific questions: 1. Does it have screen protection of any sort??(Gorilla Glass or Dragontail Glass) 2. Does Primary Camera has flash? 3. Does it comes with earphones when ordered from flipkart India?

  • I'm also planing to buy Lenovo Yoga 2 Tab 8" . Hows its performance and I heard that it is overheating after continuous use of 1 hr .. Please give the performance wise , coz I want to use it for my Business Purpose..

  • Hi, I'm useing yoga 2 for a fortnight... By all means it is really good. But, while starting, the initial wall paper (d one with paints of vibrant colours) which is whitish and natural, become yellowish after 4-5 seconds. After am time this yellowish screen also looks normal. BT, I doubt if there is any prob wid my tab. Pl help...if it is a funtionality or a prob.

  • Just got it yesterday..design ,performance and display is excellent. . but it has some battery issue. . after full charge it shows battery 0% and after some time it shows 98 %. I'm not getting what is the problem...in flipkàrt I have placed return request order. hope they will exchange

  • Which I should buy this tab or htc nexus 9?

  • In terms of performance, I don't think any OS is even comparable with iOS, that too Android has long way to go to catch up with performance of iOS. But Lenovo tablet here has decent specs for the tablet to run buttery smooth.. But other features I agree with you that they are better than iPad. I am thinking about the carrying part. I travel a lot. So carrying wise, I don't know how it can fit safely without breaking. Accessories are also yet to start as it is new.

  • Yoga tablet 2 (8"). Because it beats iPad mini (retina) in terms of performance as well as price. You also have very much better sound with Yoga. The memory is also aplenty here. There are many other such features which make Yoga a dominant choice over iPad. Note : The display qualities of both the devices are almost equal. Not much difference here.

  • I am in a confusion to choose between iPad mini with retina display costing 21,900 INR and Lenovo yoga tablet 2 8inch costing 21000.. Which one would be a better bet? My main purpose is for reading PDFs and a bit of gaming and browsing. Will Lenovo tablet get the Android L update?

  • can you please specify your overall experience with the screen resolution and touch and also if any other problems you faced after a month or two of usage. That will be really helpful..

  • which gpu does it have?

  • Does the tab has any sort of screen protection..like gorilla glass or something??

  • After thoroughly gone through all the details of specifications and lookwise, I have ordered for this tab through flipkart. I hope it will work and function for a long time. Durability is another priority.

  • just bought one yestrday , after first charging of the tab , he screen started to flicker :(
