  • Bought this phone Ok for its price cant use whatsapp suffered the caller-id problem but now i retyped all contacts myself and the problem solved, but when i tried to enter new contacts later they are not shown when calling The phone has a hanging problem but good camera for price overall my opinion is if you got money buy some other phone dont go for this

  • caller id not displayed in Motorola EX226 : This is a simple solution... I also faced the same problem in my phone... deleted the entire phone book and retyped all the mobile numbers manually (around 250)... everything is vain.. And finally arrived to the solution. The problem is, if you have stored any of the contact with * or # symbol, then phonebook search will quit with that name. Eg: if you have stored *123# as balance in your phonebook, all the caller name starts with "A" will be displayed and after "B" wont be displayed. so never store numbers with * or # in your EX226,... Other than this, its a very good phone :)

  • Caller ID fix for Motorola EX226 First, store all your contact details to SIM, if more than 250 contact is there, then do it for multiple time by backup SIM contact to other phone or computer as csv file. Then remove your SD card if it is there, and delete all your contact from phone memory, switch off and insert the backup SIM, but don't insert SD memory card and copy ally your contact from SIM to phone memory (please note not to SD card)then switch off and turn on again. Now go to phone book menu, select phone book settings, then change preferred storage option to phone. Now your phone will show all your caller ID, I hope so, this way it worked for me.

  • Really daft isnt it? I have this phone, and i fort its a given that you can have text tones repeating until you look at your text and that you can customise the tones. Even the most basic phones from year 2000 can do that, but not this phone? This phone is just really poor. It's stylish, and has wifi, but moto fall on there faces over basic software? it's a shame...

  • u may face this issue, if a no. is saved more then once, may in the same name or in diffrent names. also if this issue is comin while sending msg, it is possible that the no is saved in offic or home which will not show while sending msg. pls chk

  • u may connect ur fone with ur laptop thru bluetooth. I have used a moto, in the same fashion, for connecting the laptop to the internet. where the fone works as a modem. no need of a pc suite.

  • Hi ALL, This mobile is worth-able for its price(Rs.4500/-). I have been using this mobile for the past 2 months. The overall performance of the mobile is really good. Pros: Touch is really good than I expected. Good features of the phone are WiFi - HotSpot - 3G(SIM 1 only) - Dual SIM - QWERTY keyboard(Keys are really good) - Clipboard utility - burst shot in camera is nice - photo quality is good - Video clarity & quality is also good because it uses 30fps. Cons: Important thing is battery it is only 910mAh - Quality of the Display is bad - No recent messaging contacts list and unable to mark multiple contacts while messaging - Home Key is little small - voice calling is not supported in java applications like Nimbuzz, eBuddy, etc. The phone is having some BUGS in operating system and to overcome the bugs, firmware upgrading should be needed. FIRMWARE UPGRADE is a BIG PLUS for most of the mobiles and its users. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mobile is GOOD

I am struck with this phone. To my knowledge, even the cheapest and the dumbest phones have the feature of telling you who the call or text is from, if their name is stored in the phone book. I seriously need an answer. Does it have the feature or does it really not have that basic feature at all? If anyone has a moto Ex226, do me a favour.   • Just figured out how to use the data connection on this model and wanted to share. To use 3g (only for sim 1) or 2g data connection from your sim card (that is if the service provider gives you that option) , you need to turn on the "data connection" Drag down the drag down menu >>connection>>data manager>>3.data connection and switch on for either sim 1 or sim 2. On 2g data connection, you can browse the internet on the pre-installed browser-Opera Mobile. By turning on the 3g (sim 1 only), you can browse the internet on a much higher speed as well as utilise googlemaps if you have downloaded it as a java application. Another item that has frustrated me for quite a while (to put it mildly) till I accidentally figured out how it worked would be changing the ringtone and sms notifications. Drag down menu>>profile>>customize (for any user profile) Hope these help someone and may I just say the user manual is absolutely sad.

  • dear friends i have purchased this mobile from flipkart last month and found no any problems of purchasing it for rs.4000 only. it is basic mobile giving pleasure of touch and type. Just copy contacts from sim1 and sim2 to phone memory, it solves the problem of phonebook completly. its 3g wifi activited handset, however its 2g speed is such fast that u wont need them :) you can see a complete movie from youtube on 2g sim. hats off to combo of airtel + moto.

  • Yes Motorola EX226 supports WiFi Hotspot : Menu>Settings>Connection manager>Internet tethering Go to Wlan hotspot to switch on and assign a password under "password" (alpha-neumeric, 8 characters at least). The device connecting to this mobile will use this password when connecting to 3G network on this phone. Now save settings and use hotspot. Just click on hotspot icon to turn on/off.

  • I just bought this phone for travelling as a second phone. Plan to buy local sims with data. For others who are asking about Whatsapp, this phone cannot install Whatsapp. This is a very basic Java based phone and Whatsapp does not work on Java (except a specially made version for Nokias). In fact I realised it after buying this phone, so it was sort of a dealbreaker for me. I am struggling with a couple of things: a) Transferring contacts. There seems to be no way of doing it. It receives VCF file via bluetooth successfully but when I save it to phonebook, it reads only one contact from it. I have been told by support that the only way to do is to transfer to SIM card from the main phone and then read this sim card back into EX226. b) When you open a contact, it seems to provide an option of IP calling. Does anyone know how to use it? Thanks

Steps-Goto: settings>connctn mngr>carrier data profiles>data acount>left key>add ps acnt>typ a/c name (sumthng lyk aircel gprs, ur choice)>typ APN (most probably it wil b "aircelgprs". At kerala its so)>usrname, paswrd not necessary>auth typ: normal>select sim. Dats all. Then add this profile in browser as primary a/c. Turn data connetion ON in dat sim. Finished. . .

  • Got the PC Suite for this mobile n its not frm MOTOROLA but interface tells that it is that of some Chinese phones. Anyway it could help u in all ways that a pc suite wud do. Tested connecting to internet. Works fyn. . . Heres d link:

  • Using this mobile for one week as my secondary one. Pros: 1) Attractive price (Bought it for Rs. 4490). It has value for price for specific users 2) Build quality and style. Feels really good in hand with its rubberised back cover. Sleek and fits well in pocket 3) Connectivity options: Bluetooth, 3G, Wifi + Hotspot 4) Good qwerty keypad + Capacitive touch screen 5) Touch screen has good response 6) Menu looks good in one sense 7) Default opera browser is good and fast 8) Headset sound is good 9) Has 64MB RAM and didn't get much hanging problems Cons: 1) Small screen compared to the phone size 2) "Ok" and "Back" buttons take a lot of space in touch-screen. Hardware keys should have used instead 3) Not much impressive camera for its 3MP spec 4) Caller ID problem which can be solved by some Technics described in below posts 5) Loudspeaker volume very low so that you may miss calls in noisy environment 6) Don't know whether there is any PC Software for connecting to PC 7) Many may find UI not friendly. Not much customisations 8) Some java apps are not working 9) Built-in Email client and push mail apps didn't work for me 10) Don't expect any multitasking 11) Inbuilt facebook, twitter, gmail and youtube apps are just short-cuts to opera browser 12) Battery backup moderate 13) One sim not reachable when other is in use 14) At some parts like file manager it resembles that of China phones Those who are looking for normal dual sim mobile with basic GPRS, music, bluetooth and apps don't go for this. It may suit youth who needs more connectivity options, style and variety. And it has enough value for money for such users. Meanwhile Motorola may reduce operations in Asia-Pacific region so keep that in mind. I'm using this only as a secondary phone. So think twice before you buy this. For me it does the job. But still searching for a PC software. And my another worry is about its service and buying battery in future.

  • Another way to have caller ID for both incoming call and sms: Have the person message ans simple 'Save' 'to Phone' It works and was a great relief to me. Hope this helps you all out there.

  • Hi all, I had the same caller ID prob with it and both the vendor as well as Motorola Sve Centre were clueless. What I did (without removing the sim card) was to scroll to that address, select 'COPY', select 'TO PHONE'. There will now be two similar entries of the same person in the addy book. Just delete any one. From then on, any new address saved will automatically be 'SAVED TO PHONE' I'm soooooo relieved. Hope this helps some equally vexed person out there ;)

  • Eldo, The touch is capacitive and its super fast...really nice touch.dont worry about the touch..you will defntly love it. sound is bit low . . den only 4 inbuilt themes. battery is fine . . . go for it !

  • on some sites it is shown that moto ex226 doesnt have 3g n wifi but believe me i m using this phone it have both 3g n wifi n also have hotspot music sound is little bit less but that's a soothing sound n not a problem n u can see my previous cmnt i have given the solution for caller id problem.......disadvantage is that this cell has small screen as compare 2 Sony Ericsson WT13i becoz moto has qwerty keypad........ i suggest u 2 go with moto ex226 but before buying check out its battery backup becoz i m using it for 4-5 days so dont know correctly abt battery backup......

  • sry boss but i hv changed my set n bought a new one but having same prblm but i got a fantastic solution.....there is not 2 do with copying or moving contacts of sim 2 phone........@all--jus do one thing- u have 2 save ur no. ur own.....go to "dial pad">>then enter no. with zero eg. "09999999999" n then save that with particular name only in phone memory.........n see it will definitely wrk.:) i m happy with this phone 4.5/5

  • Chsuny, i really dont know...wats d problm wid your mob.is it june 2012 model ? check the manufacturng date on the cover. ok our last try . . do this: 1. delete all the contacts in phone memory(dnt forgt,you should copy the numbers by writg it on your book) 2.master reset your phone. 3.switchoff 4.remove the battery ,sim,memory card. 5.insert your sim,battery and memory card. 6.switch on 7.then the phone shows dis msg: 'copy all your sim card contacts to phone memory?' 8.select yes 9.make a call from a no..wch is in your contacts. i hope it will work.will pray . . try it and do reply BOSS.

  • Guys , Dont worry phonebook callerID just worked, intially it took sometime to trubleshoot. The thing is the phone is not capable of reading the phonebook from SIMcards on incomming calls, but when the phone memory is default for phonebook the calledID on incomming calls works just fine. So guys dont worry if u plan to buy this good looking phone , just go ahead. I received it today only, and it intaially took sometime to come to above conclusion.

"Thank you for writing us at Motorola Customer Care. With reference to your mail regarding MOTOROLA EX 226, we would like to inform you that your email has been forwarded to our concerned department as a feedback and they will definetely look into it. Thank you once again for your feedback." Ak, do one thing. U register ur phn in their site n giv a feedback regarding this problem. K. . ? Then, I wud lyk to knw hw d phn perform in other areas. Orderd the phone on 6th august 2012 morning and delivered on 13th. It took 7 days.the shipment is from Delhi...7 days is reasonable time.im okay wid dat .but i hd travelled 13kms to receive d courier from Thiruvalla...no blue dart couriers in our town. ok now about the gorgeous looking fabulous phone: ------------------------------------------------­- The true specifications are, dual sim,2.4 inch capacitive touch and type,qwerty keypad,3.15 mp camera,wifi,3g,bluetooth,910 mah lithum ion battery. guys the phone has WIFI in it.in gsmarena,flipkart..its not mentioned..i was surprised to see d wifi writtings wen i opened the pack.wat a sexy mobile.i shud say...motorola phones are d best looking and has classy design.the mobile is sturdy and good built.touch screen is Awesome....its super fast and feather touch.really superb!display clarity is also good.approx 165 pixel density..which is good enouch for 2.4 inch screen. The camera is fabulous . . . wid video [email protected] is spectacular! the voice clarity is crisp and its really good. I called there customer care and the say that this f*** feature is not available on this crap phone.... I am going to file a complain against them on customer court of India......

  • I'm using it for the last 6days. Camera resolution is good, wifi works good aswell. Only cons are screen size small, receive and disconnect button is missing while phone is in lock mode. Touch screen is quite good compared to present day touch screen phones. Otherwise a lovely phone from Motorola at this price range.

EX226 is the same as EX225 (except that EX226 is dual SIM but does not have the facebook button & EX225 has a facebook dedicated button and feature, both phones have touch screen / 3G / WiFi capabilities).
