Moto Q is such a great phone and should be re-introduced fully re-packaged with the current hip features (e.g 5megpx camera, hsdpa, 1ghz cpu etc) but the design should be retained, especially the keypad. i've used one for a record 5 years with the worst of phone handling and unimaginable drops yet it is still intact. the key pad has not shown the slightest wear.

I bought the phone in \dubai..i am also experiencing the same problems with incoming calls. If someone calls you it rings from their end but on my phone it does not ring..it's annoying to get pple mad at you for not picking up their calls.

It supports 2Gb MicroSD card, you can get Nes n' Snes emulator, excellent the option of edit office 2003 files (documents to go 2.0 does not support 2007) en some forums say there is an app for it can support 4Gb card bit in my case it doesn't work, excellent tool for work and some entertainmet, but the battery is not the best (come with 2 batteries when you buy it)

this fone may end up losing me my job. I always get complaints that I dont pick my calls. Wat happens is that the connection isnt made with my fone but to the caller its like i'm not picking up. i thot it was the network but then i swapped SIMS and the same thing happened.

I had that problem, in my case it was that the battery was too loose, just put a piece of paper on it and it will remain in place and turned-on. well it worked in my case

I had my moto q8 5 months ago. At first I really had a nice experience with it. After 2 months, I encountered problems like auto-off, slow performance. i had my phone repaired and after a 3 weeks of repair I got it back. Too bad, the technician made a mistake. My qwerty keypad encountered malfunctions. i almost threw my cellphone at the face of the saleslady who entertained me. Poor quality and poor service!

the best phone for my busy life... I love it because its a practical phone more like a mobile computer than a multimedia scam. It does not have a powerful photo sensor that reaches 5 megapixels or even match with the e71 phone, but it has a distinct look and feel and the value when you purchase it. besides why do i need a good camera where in I'm practically running about to earn more money with my career... I have my digicam with 8 megapixels to take care of taking pictures when im free... Its a manly phone and durable even dropping it a couple of times. And best of all it is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile. It may not have wifi but inserting the wifi minisd is fuzz free and buying it together with the moto Q cost lower than buying those expensive multimedia scam phones.

Hi Ruth! Battery life is good, not as fast as V8 or V3x. It basically depends on usage an average of 2-3 days .. but one goodie pt would be...is the life span of "low battery" status it lasts a pretty long time before draining out =) another feature i love is the auto search in messages if your looking for a message just type in a keyword/subj or the sender name without even going to any menu "find". just key it in staight and it will automatically search for possible data you were looking for :) and same as in sending a message you can just type the receipients name and it will automatically search forit without the hassle of going thru the phonebook.

Had one of this (CDMA) for 1 month, got back to the store and changed it....worst phone I ever had! 0.o 1 - Camera quality is terrible (1.3 HorribleMegaPixels, at a incredibly poor resolution) 2 - No 3G or Wifi (for wifi you must buy a U$ 40,00 MiniSDLan card...doing this you will have Internet, but no storage space...) 3 - Windows Mobile 5 (sllloooowwwwwwwww, veeeeeeeeerrrrrryyyyyy sllllllooooowwwwww, at least on this phone model); 4 - Constant "freezes" (and then reset); 5 - Hard keyborard (but at least it is QWERTY); 6 - Bad multimedia quality reproduction (video, mp3..) I changed it for a NOKIA E65 and it was the best thing I did! Very happy now! =D

continue abt battery life...i think Q8 is abit smarter now about battery life...i will shutdown the screen completely when in idle...i am guessing it runs at 100Mhz clock speed most of the time...and only runs at 200Mhz when required....

saw this black beauty in klcc over the weekend. what a gorgoeus piece of art...I especially like the d-pad..very classy...screen size was adequate too. Played with it for quite a while. Software performance was adequate for me...my current phone being a n6680....however i am really not sure about the battery life...I know tat & software stability was a major gripe for the previous model(i.e cdma motoQ). The Q-GSM does work with Skype for both Chatting and Voice. (Download the Smartphone version and not the PocketPC). However, i find that listing to to Skype is ok, but i need to talk quite loudly for people to hear me on the other end. Also, it only seems to work in speaker phone mode or blue tooth headset mode. It doesn't seem to work putting it to your ear.

Are you sure that you are killing all of your applications, and not just 'closing' them? Go to: Start > System Tools > Task Manager. If a lot of stuff is running go to 'Menu' then 'Kill All' IMPORTANT - Before you close this screen go to 'Menu' and 'Exit'.

this phone hasnt been released yet, plus it does have Wi-Fi enabled trough the miniSDIO slot, shame is that you cant have a 2GB miniSD and wifi at same time but youll never know when they are gonna release a wifi/storage SDIO card. all in all this is a good phone, the CDMA version is too and ill be getting it when it comes out.

I am in love with this Moto Q. It has all of the options that I need to work. The sleekness of this phone is very nice. The only drawback is the battery time. If you get the extended battery you are fine. All in all I like the phone and the choice I made.

Moto_Q std This phone has two important design flaws, imho it runs a flavour of one of the most unstable operating systems ever created on this planet AND the numeric keys are WAY to small for a large handed (fingered) person. If you don't program your numbers, your'll be really pissed at the equal size of the numeric keys and the alpha keys. Feature wise the phone is great, it's a computer which has gsm/cdma featurers. All you need is to install your winMobile software to get some functionality you want. It may even be possible to run java progs on it with a proper java_ENV emulator. I've found some guaranteed ways to hard-crash the phone I've got here with some included software, which is NOT good at all, because you need to remove the battery to get control back over your Moto_Q ...

I just got the Q from Sprint and it's better than expected. After charging the phone for 2 hours, it was ready to go. I left it plugged in while I input all my contacts, calender, notes, etc. Pictures for your contacts, what a great feature. The Hotmail and Comcast Email Setups were extremely easy to setup. Emailing the pictures of my contacts and downling them into the phone was a piece of cake also. I'm waiting on a 2GB miniSD card to come before I decide to laod anything else on the phone. the ringtones are better than expected, but I still am going to need to find 10-20 specials ringtones or songs for faimly and close friends, different from the ones currently on the phone. The backgrounds are cool also. I ordered some cases, holders and pouches off ebay so I'm waiting for those also. Does anyone have a "Skin" on their Q? Are they really east to take off and do they leave glue residue on the phone? I'm reading the manual for the second time, just to be sure I have all the features down, but all the ones I need I've already checked out except for WM Player. I don't think I'm going to load too many songs on the SD Card though, it'll probably drain the battery fast!!!!! Does anyone have those Motorola OEM Headphones that silence when a call comes in and turns the music back on when the call ends. I saw these on Ebay also, but wanted somemore info before i bought them. Thanks

Don't listen to the previous guy, the EDGE/GSM version has not been released yet. The phone he is talking about is from samsung called the blackjack. Its something of mutant phone based on its looks. The samsung I320 (not the I320n) looks a whole lot better really and is speed wise faster. While also theres the HTC S620 that looks better then the blackjack too. Either of those two you should look in to if you can't wait for the Motorola Q. Also the bugs with the Q have been ironed out since its launch and has improved vastly fixing many of the beginning issues. I have tested a recent CDMA/Black Q and loved the difference in speed compared to before.

Yes the GSM verison has been released. Its called Samsung blackjack and if you go to phonescoop.com all the user reviews give the blackjack a 4 out of 5 where the Q gets 2 out of 5.

This phone constantly locks up on me. I had it replaced once and still the same problems. Often I will place a call using a shortcut key and it will say "Dialing..." and never connects - nor does it let me cancel so i have to remove the battery to reboot. Also, i often hear nothing when answering calls. Callers later inform me that they can hear me but I cannot hear them. Another reboot - ant that takes a minute or so to complete. I can't stand this thing. I want my Nokia back.

The GSM version can be used with other providers as it's classed as a world phone and is not locked. Your sim card should allow you to work with your current provider as long as they use a band your phone can access. Quad band means that it supports up to 4 different transmission bands and as long as the local provider uses one of the bands your phone supports, you can connect to that network

I have had a samsung SPH-i500 for 4 years and it just gave up, best phone I have had for business. Palm operating system and still one of the smallest packages. Did not have any of the new stuff, ie wifi, 3g, etc etc. I just tried this Q phone for the 14 day trial and gave it back to verizon. I carry 2000 contacts in my business, the phone could NOT handle this and would lock up for over a minute trying to query a record. If you also were trying to call and it did not go through, you could get way ahead of the phone of pushing buttons and not know where you were, the default was to put it down and wait 1 minute, it eventually would flush out the button requests after the short cup of coffee. I am tending to look for a palm operating phone, the softare is more logical than mobile 5. For example, palm searched on last name, made sense, mobile 5 searched on any sequence of the letters, first or last, bloody confusing when you think you are looking for a person last name or first name and get a mixture, the mobile 5 sorts on the last! Even when thumbing down, if I went to the T's, the screen would come up blank and I would have to take the short coffee trip prior to getting the displayed results. As I look on the review screen I see a lot of techies, does not have wifi, does not have this or that. Maybe I am just hitting the age that I do not card about the actual technology, juts the results it gives me, 1 minute for a 2000 record search is dos days, does that tell my age!

I don't understand many of the gripes about the Q. I've had "stick" phones and two handed operation is a thing of the past; IMHO. NOT haveing to use a stylus is the future. My Q is a much better phone than my i730 ever thought of being and can do everything the i730 could ... that I want it to. (I never edited word or xcel docs on my phone anyway.)

This phone looks great but is a pain to operate. I miss lots of calls, dialers say the phone rings and rings with no answer. The system freezes and needs to be reset. Verizon gave me the run around. They told me to go to the store for replacement. Got to the store they told me only data tech could send out a new phone. Seems like an awful lot of quirks. Do not buy this phone unless you like being frustrated.

Hey Mike, there are tons of free apps out there. I have a free notes program on my Q that works great. Go to everythingq.com and look at the forum. Lots of great info to make this the best phone for your needs.

My Q phone frequently fails to dial out. It will say "Dialing..." but never go any further. If I hang up and try again, I'll get "Operation failed" over and over again until I completely turn it off - sometimes twice. I was also disappointed to discover, after I'd bought it, that it doesn't support "Notes" (voice notes, yes, but not typed notes of the kind that Outlook supports).

be smart...running tons of programs at once is going to freeze and crash any device running windows of any kind...be sensitive to the number of things open at once...visit that great little tool called TASK MANAGER once in a while and you won't have any problems...i have had one for a while now and never once has it frozen or crashed...use your head

I dont know why all you people are going crazy for this phone. This phone in US has a 40% return rate. The phones OS keeps freezing and crashing. I used it for EVDO the EVDo portion is good but the OS is crap!!! Verizon has it in the US and i bought and two weeks returned it due to it crashingon me at least 5 times a day. If it will ever come out for GSM it will not be any better. Do not get this phome!!!!

moto needs to get the GSM/3G Q out ASAP. they are loosing valuable markets in Asia and EU. Nokia and Sony Ericsson are making mobiles for the world not just the US. This is how a mobile maker should be doing business or they will be left behind. I do think that GSM and 3G has a wider adaptation around the world compared to EVDO [I might be wrong] so it came as a shock to me that the Q was released as an EVDO device first. I would love a 240x320 QWERTY WM5 Smartphone as a second phone, still nothing in the market ATM [Samsung's i820 hasn't been released here either]. The Nokia E61 seems nice a couple of buddies of mine have them. however I've invested heavily on WM apps so I don't intend on going back to non-WM mobiles anytime soon. But the E61 is really really really tempting.

Unlike "mike" I do not think this is the worst PDA/smartphone. He must be experiencing User Error. And as for the freezing up, mine has never done that. I have had this phone since they first came out, and I have had no problems with it. Just the fact that onlide at verizonwireless.com it is not listed to download ringtones.

I'd say...better buy the Nokia E61. It operates on Symbian OS (never hangs..), got WI-FI, EDGE & 3G compatability. No camera (don't need it anyway, digicams are still the best in resolution for me). I got a smartphone before that runs on Windows, and it hangs all the time =)

i have got to mess around with it a little bit and it is a nice phone. i like that the screen isn a touch screen and still has a qwerty keys unlike most phones. and this one can actually fit in your pocket. unlike alot of smart/qwerty phones. its a great phone and cant wait till the gsm comes out so i can use it.

Had a chance to play around with Moto Q from Telus Mobility which is a NON GSM provider. I'm kinda dissapointed. Its a real nice sleek design, however the operating system seems a bit slow. Even when dialing there seems to be a delay. The big dissapoinment is that it does not have WiFi. Most of the PDA's today make it mandatory to have WiFi. But Q does not. I would tend to forget about how slow it seems if it had wifi. On the up side it takes pretty nice photos with the 1.3 meg camera. I personally will not buy one if it comes out for GSM.

July 21,2006 I have now had the Q for a couple months and it is by far the worst pda and/or phone I have ever had. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! It is completely unreliable. It locks up several times a day and I have to remove the battery and reboot. It locks up on simple tasks like going to your contacts, answering the phone, pressing send, on and on. What a piece of crap. Verizon has no answers!

The Q is awesome. It is very thin and lightweight with a hellova lot of functionality. I dont understand the bashing of this device. It is certainly not a laptop..users that gripe about the Q need to buy a laptop and keep their pie-holes shut. Here is the true skinny without the bias: PROs: thin, lightweight, easy navigation, lot of functionality, VERIZONs high speed EvDO network and web browsing on this phone is super!, nice keyboard. CONs: No editing software to write notes etc. (must purchase), the thin form factor is not very comfortable to talk on (kind of holding a peice of bathroom tile to your ear). In conclusion this is not a replacement for a laptop or other computer but an enhancement to those devices. More versitle than most PDAs and lighter in weight. No Wi-Fi but if you get the unlimited plan for data, wi-fi doesnt matter much unless you constantly cannot get signal (then again why have a cell phone?). Now go forth and chuck your clunky cell phone for a Q. And if you cannot handle the Q, buy a queer blackberry... Deez

What a piece of junk. It is barely worthy of a name like Smartphone. Navigation is clumsy and the display never shows you which way to go for a different function. You may never find out where you are in the phone menu or how to back out to use a different function without wiping out what you're currently doing. Its such a bad feeling you dont want to continue with it. CDMA-Verizon has an exclusive on this but I know 1 woman who returned it in 1 day in favor of a Treo/Windows Mobile5.1. The Windows 5.1 is awesome and is overall, much easier to run in a corporate IT environ. if running Windows et all. (Blackberry/RIM-stuff is nice but yknow what, no thanks...New patches daily....weeeee what fun...what a headache-and Blackberry Ent - works great but its all based on covreage). Q is poo

I got the Q and think its pretty good. It is an excellent phone first which is what I want. I love the wireless sync since I don't have MS Exchange Server at the office. One problem I have is that wireless sync only seems to download email from the root directory on my desktop. Is there any way to download email from the other folders on the desktop that is currently gettng skipped? I can't seem to create additional folders on the Q's email folder tree.

For all of you who are wondering, the Motorola Q is compatible with BMW bluetooth. My 2005 BMW 325xi (no idrive) syncs perfectly with my new Q. It loads all numbers in the "contacts" list. It works even more seamlessly than with my razr.

The phone was released May 31, 2006 as A CDMA/EVDO device offered by Verizon Wireless. I do not know if this device will be coming to GSM technologies soon.

I overheard a conversation with a Verizon rep. There probably will bea GSM version, but Verizon has agreements to have rights tomarket it on their network a few months before any other carrier/system can have it. Can anyone confirm this rumor?

We encountered some problems and are still trying to solve it. Motorola Liberty Field, Motorola New Jersey and us are working hard on this handphone. But trust me, this phone is exceptionally good. I've enjoyed my MPx220 but miss having a qwerty keyboard . I've loaded compressed movies and mp3 tunes on my mini sd cards with good results. The sound is great with the ear buds. I hope that with the keyboard I'll be able to browse and email easier. Pictures are fair in 4"x6" print if you hold steady. Q has better specs. so it should exceed the results I gotten with with the MPx220. Now I think that I'll be able to trade stocks fairly easily compared to the effort required by MPx220 key pad. Since I have about $300.00 worth on mini sd cards I was happy to see a unit that would use them.

I have a friend who works for Motorola and he gave me one. I have to say the phone is incredible. Yes it is missing Wi Fi but for the person who is concerned about size this phone is it. It is so thin you don't even realize it is in your pocket. The phone will be released on the Verizon network in about 6 months. They have since discontinued the GSM version since Verizon took the CDMA version and stopped the GSM version from being released. The phone is supposed to be released for about $750.00 when it comes out.

I think motorola is jooking when they said phone with this kind of spec still under testing, still coming soon, 65k screen? others rushing out 16m,1.3m camera?polyphonic ringtones? got people still use polyphonic as their ring tones? But I do agree, it got the look. Oh ya, for people asking for touch screen?U all must kidding asking touch screen on a already small screen.

True the atom have touchscreen, 265k screen, bult in wifi, 2mp camera, flash, what is motorola thinking. This phone is king if released 6 motnhs ago. Kinda too late, now there is even no edge??? 65 k screen, 1.3 mgp camera and no touch screen. Motorola better change some specs or they will lose a large number of potetntial customer

By far, my personal opinion, if Moto not launch this product asap, their market will steal by xda atom, as O2 will launch atom on December, me also maybe will buy atom if have to wait this moto for another six month (even I am fanatic fans of Moto).

Fucntion wise i guess N61 beats this beauty but design wise i prefer this by far!! N91 also do not have camera and i hope the Qs camera will be good unlike all other motorola 1.3 megapixel crap.

It has bluetooth. it just doesnt have wifi. Would wish the wireless apps can store stuff to the card. ie vindigo, avantgo and email. cause the stock memory is pretty low. MD

The Motorola Q is most likely a replacement for people that screwed over by the defective MPx220. Since it uses the same MiniSD slot(instead of TransFlash, like most of Motorola's newest offerings) and has a lot of similarities with the MPx220 as well. I was one of those poor suckers who bought a MPx220, so I know all about their faulty P2K ports(quite possible the worst thing Motorola ever designed). I'm just glad that the Q doesn't use that worthless port.

Motorola listens to the customers but care about the providers: no WIFI - so you have to buy more airtime, no 3G so you surf the NET slow (even more time), and of course they get in bed with MS - the biggest ... I censor myself. Do we really expect any MS product not to have bugs? Q is a Sony Style product: nice but no substance.

WiFi doesn't matter in a device like this. Get over it. Thishas the right mixture of technologies and battery life. I'd rather have a phone that doesn't die on me than WiFi. The keyboard looks like a killer feature as well. Short text emails, notes -- perfect.

Some of you folks are weird, ever consider that some people out there don't need a megapixel camera, bluetooth, edge, umts? Also note, not everywhere in the world has UMTS yet! Motorola is doing a good job, trying to please all markets. Probably when the rest of the world catches up, they'll released more phones suited to what's avaialble.

peopleee...This phone is fantastic HOWEVER!?! The battery life, speed and screen resolution and pixels are equevilant to a standard motorola. This phone is reliable but i sugest you do not rely on it in tough or desparet situations. Other than the the standrad relyability its a great phone etc..

Personally I would say the Motorola Q is a brillant phone , in particular I miss WIFI/WLAN or 3G connection possibility. Further without the keyboard (vitual keyboard is available) would increase the size of the screen and allow better picturing and work ease. Hopefuly Motorola could consider a "Motorola Q�" with the above mentioned configuration.

From the specs, this phone looks great. Granted WiFi would be nice, it makes up for it with EDGE. The touch screen issue- with Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones, I dont think a touchscreen would be all that useful. Besides, they are annoying in phones built like this because you accidently press things on the screen, it gets oily from touching your face, and touchscreens are fairly fragile when it comes to being in a phone that is not protected by a flip. I think this phone will kill the Treo, or at least put a serious dent in Palmone. I think it is about time WIndows Mobile came out with something great, and this is it.

Once the production goes to sale, there is no way to upgrade the hardware, but software only. The only way you can get anything changed, is if you go to Motorola Production Press, and tell them to upgrade the hardware (doubt it will happen) but they are the only ones who can do and modify changes.

this is a great phone,but it lack large memory capacity. thus, in all motorola phones the batteries don't stay long. please, i appeal to the technicians, enginers et tera to update(improve) the batteries. however, as soon as you lauch this product, please inform me.

Note: Phones, that still displays "Status: Coming Soon" already have alpha/beta versions for product testers. There are others out there that signed a contract with Motorola stating to test the device, and get back at them with a full report. Though, the device is still at production, it is, and usually faulty. So if you see any sellers, that sells this particular type that didnt officially come out yet, just wait; becuase: A) There is no such support or warranty for beta products. B) The device might not work properly. C) You might get scammed! Since it isnt out market-wise.

If there is no UTMS or WIFI, 262K on the screen, Edge, or a 2 Mega Pixel Camera I won't buy this phone and doubt anyone else will buy this phone. If they really one to kill the sales on this phone this phone like all the others will oly remember 10 Dialled calls, 10 Missed Calls and 10 Received calls. New replacement for Sony P910 coming out soon with UMTS. I think I will get that one instead, supposed to have a 2 Mega Pixel Camera as well..

This is a great phone, but it lacks WIFI/WLAN, UMTS, FM radio and large memory capacity etc. You must not leave any feature out. You have great visions but lacks futuristic technology. It will be a shame if such a sexy phone like the Moto Q is lunched without the afforementioned features. Motorola please don't do that to us (your customers). We expect to see tomorrow's technology handsets in today's market with the brand name; Moto IQ. This phone is too good to be seen in the market without the right features or specification that matches it. That would be a shame!

This is certainly a great phone, especially the window mobile 5.0,but motorola should consider the inclusion of Wifi so that it compete with its hp contreparts. It is a lovely communicator, certainly I will purchase one as soon it is lanuhed. moreso, I do hope the body of this great phone will not pell up.

I hope they give this phone 3G so people can surf the net faster. The new XDA will have this option, while using the new Windows Mobile 5 this new system would be put to waste without offering the customers the full features of Mobile 5 on a new product not to mention adding more numbers to the call recordes on Missed, Dialled and Received Numbers. They should be able to remember at least 30 each!

I think this device is perfect. For those who want and expect everything like wifi, more storage. . ., what do you expect. The thing is thin! I'm sure moto will come out with another version fully equipped. But for the look and size of the Q it's got more features than I would expect.

awesome phone. i love motos thin designs - why would anyone want a thick phone now? this model is like the treo 650, but without any of its shortcomings. touchscreen and radio would have been nice additions but they're not necessary.
