I had that phone. It has many good features, but there are also some very stupid things like: -You can listen to the mp3 (there is a player) but You can't set them as a ring!!!! The only ringtone that You can set is polyphonic! -Battery - if You don't have the biggest battery (1800mAh) than that phone will work for only 1 day (I had 1120mAh battery). And thats all

Ive had this phone for 2 n half years now. The battery life of the extended version battery is quite good and lasts roughly up to a week. The features of this phones are good but the phone itself is quite big n hefty.

My Nec Phone Model "NEC c616v" Was running low on power and was automatically switched off.Charged the battery till full and the signals of the battery picking up the charge were also visible.the Battery seems to be all correct and also is full on power,but the key that switches on the phone does not switch on the phone even after it is pressed as it is to be normally done in order to switch on the phone . bluetooth funkcion is not made for tranfering data, you must use usb cable. bluetooth on this phone is made to use this phone as a modem.

It's been said PLENTY of times... the bluetooth on this phone CANNOT be used for file transfers (FTP). It can only be used as a modem or through Bluetooth headsets! It will NEVER work to send video clips etc to other people, and quite frankly, if you cannot get this into your head, you may be slightly retarded.

HOW TO INSTALL USB DRIVER OK! i have the Exact way to do this. It works. There are other ones like "http://steeev.f2o.org/mt/2005/01/download_nec_e­616v_drivers_and_file_transfer_applica tion...." But i tell you actually How to do it. -----------------!!FOLLOW EXACTLY!!-------------------- I just want to say that if you have the CD, you most likely Do actually have the USB drivers. Just because u can't 'download' off the CD in that screen thing doesnt mean its not there...n00b. lol. If you explore the cd (right click it in My Computer, and click open). you most likely have it. Ok, now Follow if you don't have the software CD (Don't do this if you have the software CD!! See below) First, get all your software together. Download the File Transfer Tool from: Also Download the Nec e616 USB Drivers (when downloading this, save it to an easy destination, lets save C:\Nec USB\ [or whatever your main hard drive is, example D:\ E:\ etc.]) You also need Adobe Reader. You shouldn't need a link for that. and if u do, then your a n00b. and u suhldnt be here. lol Ok, now Follow if you don't have the software CD (Don't do this if you have the software CD!! See below) 1. Turn your e616 on. 2. Connect your e616 to the PC/Laptop using the USB cable (provided in your e616 box). 3. Install by following the "New Hardware Wizard" instructions that are automatically displayed on screen. Select option that lets you choose the location you want. 4. When asked where to locate the driver files, select the following folder from your Hard drive. Windows2000/XP: C:\Nec USB\WIN2000 Windows98SE: C:\Nec USB\WIN98 5. The wizard will automatically display the first file to install. (On WIN XP, proceeding to the next step automatically) 6. Press �Next� to install the file and �Finish� to complete the wizard. -There are a total of four files to install. On selecting �Finish� you will be taken through the process a further 3 or 4 times. OR untill it finally says Finished, use your software now. So you'll do process 3-6 about 3 or 4 times. Notes �When the message appears saying that there is no digital signature for driver during installation, click �Yes� to continue installation procedures. Installation and operations after that are not affected. �For Windows XP users a message may appear saying that the software has not been Windows logo tested, click "Continue anyway" to continue installation procedures. Ok, Follow If have Software CD (Don't do this if you don't have the CD, following instruction above.) 1. Start Windows on the PC/Laptop (make sure all active applications are closed). 2. Place the "e616 Tools and Utilities" CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Turn your e616 on. 4. Connect your e616 to the PC/Laptop using the USB cable (provided in your e616 box). 5. Install by following the "New Hardware Wizard" instructions that are automatically displayed on screen. 6. When asked where to locate the driver files, select the following folder in your CD-ROM: Windows2000/XP: \616\PC Drivers\USB driver\English\WIN2000 Windows98SE: \616\PC Drivers\USB driver\English\WIN98 7. The wizard will automatically display the first file to install. (On WIN XP, proceeding to the next step automatically) 8. Press �Next� to install the file and �Finish� to complete the wizard. -There are a total of four files to install. On selecting �Finish� you will be taken through the process a further 3 times. Now you should have the File Transfer on your CD. So you actually didn't need to download anything :D... if u did think u need to then noooo n000b. lol. BUT if your cd seems not to actually have it (example, when your explore your cd, its not actually there), follow the instruction for if you downloaded it. Ok! Now just connect your nec e616 up to your computer, click menu, then clik external connection, then USB, then handset memory(sometimes it will automically click handset memory). (Menu, then click 7, then click 2, then 1 if you have to. Then open up your file transfer tool and knock your self out! Now honestly i got most of this from the nec PDF manual but it seems people dont read that. so i basically got all the stuff out and tried to make it more simplier. and u know? i dont care if this helps you or not. i was bored, and installed my driver once before, then my computer got formatted and i had forgotten how to do it, so i had to use forums again. so im doing this for my memory too. so i hope this does help you. for the expert nerds and the n00bs. and if it doesnt, then MeH!! lol. email me if you have any questions: [email protected]. hi im charli, and im 14 and a girl. lol 4got to tell ya :P. i have this fone for 3 days and ruulz. i got it with standard battery + double batt.. (1day + 4-5days - light usage) images - cool , games - didn't try to upload (try uploading with JAVA UPLOADER, a program specialy made for NEC 616.since i don't have it, i can't help you more.) , video - could be better & longer than 24secs :(( , 3G - never tried it , sound / memory / ringtones - great , signal - great.. very goood phone...BUT so huge 4 the 3rd millenium...

Regarding Bluetooth: according to the manual this phone's Bluetooth can be used for the headset only. No data transfer. They motivate it with author's rights protection. Camera is great thou, better than T630 with the same resolution (640x480).

This would be a brilliant phone, If it wasn't on 3pay, and if it was a bit smaller. It has a great camera, and I think its got a huge memory, ive got about 45 24 second vids with sound, 293 messages, tons of photos, loads of mp3 files, and Its still got room for more! Battery life isn't something to be proud of, goes down after 2 or 3 days of light usage. I like the way you can make your own folders, and its really easy to move pics and movies, sound and messages around. Internet is good, although you can only use it on 3's own site. Ringtones are a ripoff. Photo caller ID, video calling is good altough I haven't used it much. I haven't had reception problems with it suprisingly, even in the welsh mountains when my mums nokia on t-mobile was dead I had a 2g signal. The green dot thing for 3g is very handy. This really would be an excellent phone if it wasn't on 3pay which makes you pay �15 a month.

Hi i bought this phone from Bulgaria ... but having probs trying to upload games via data cable i found out that you are supposed to use .JAR files i upload them through the software you get with the phone using the "ANY FILES" when i go to open them it says "Unable to open the file. Good Phone. Some things are hard to do but camera is good and so is videocalling. Dont be put off by negative comments because it is a good phone. Just a bit too bulky though.

It's a nice phone but the bluetooth is not working with other phones that has bluetooth. Why is that? How may be anybody can tell me howto do that. Though I've not tried it but people said it(bluetooth) only works with a bluetooth headset.

You turn blue tooth on by going to setting look under I think its connections and click on blue tooth not USB. If you click on menu in the blue tooth section and click search it will scan for any bluetooth connections available. Also if you connect to anything the phone will ask for a pin code this can be any four digit number, then the item you are connecting to will ask for the pin you must put in the same code as the one you put in the phone ! IE: 1234 in phone then 1234 in comp or whatever you connect to.

My NECe616V is pay as you go... or so they say! well i'm sorry but they STEAL all the remaining credit from your account after 30 days! so really... its not pay as you go and they have no right to call it that! In actual fact it is a contract phone. and as soon as my phone is unlocked, i'm going back to virgin mobile... they are brill. no hidden costs or anything! i think that 3 should be shut down for false advertising!

this fone is very bad even though it has good features they are all poor quality and there is not enough memory for media users also the keypad heats up tremendously. please buy the SE s700i!

Decent camera, however the phone is slow at responding, especially when using SMS menus, reboots randomly etc. The speaker is placed on the backside of the lid when you're doing video calling making it hard to hear what the other person is saying if there's not quiet around you. MP3 player audio quality is about the same as a TAPE RECORDER it utterly sucks, it'll crash randomly when playing mp3s so don't expect much from the mp3 player. It's an ok phone if your demands are not high, but I'd go for something else if I had the choice again...

i hav had the phone, but now getting a completely different one!!!! it is huge, for more memory you have you buy a memory card which is dear!!!!! it is heavy, like a house brick! the only good thing is that is has blutooth!!

What the F*** are you guys talking about!!! This is a fantastic phone, my boyfriend bought me one for xmas and it's fantastic, MP3 player, video and camera, easy interent access. I don't mind having a phone with a not too good battery life when I get the features that it has. It may be bulky but it is very funky looking, I love it!!

Hi i bought this phone from superdrug for �45 cool fone but having probs trying to upload games via data cable i found out that you are supposed to use .JAR files i upload them through the software you get with the phone using the "ANY FILES" when i go to open them it says "Unable to open the file. This type of file cannot be read on your handset" can anyone help????

OMG DO NOT BUY THIS FONE! its absolute crap! i have recently bought it and imeeditely swapped it! there are many flaws, the main including V V V poor battery life (5 hours charging = less than 6 hours on stand by) also the camera on the fron it V V poor quality and takes rly crap pictures even in light. the keypad burns your fingers after about an hour and the 3 services are S|-|!T I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT BUYING THIS FONE!!! SAVE YOURSELFS! go buy a SE s700i ;)

I have just bought this phone three days ago and have inmmediately retuned it. the camera funtions and quality are rubbish and the keypad heats up tremedously. also there isnt enough memory for media users. i recommend not buying this fone as it will save you money and time!!!
