ive bought this phone almost 2 years ago. it was decent for a while but it didnt take long for it to start screwin up. the spinner only worked sometimes, it turned off randomly etc. dont get me wrong it looks pretty good but yeah i agree with who ever said they get tired of people asking what it is, wheres the numbers and how do u write messages (even though thats really petty and has nothin 2 do with the phone lol). text msgs took a lifetime at the start but u quickly get used to it, as with the dialling of numbers. i hated how it didnt have video recordin cuz wen i bought it i was under the impression that it did. it was ridiculasly over priced wen i purchased it (over $1000) but they lowerd the price quickly wen they realised how flawed this phone was. i believe they took this phone off the market over a year ago (in australia) as it was a majorly flawed device. my advice: seriously, don't get it. wen i when to complain about it at the phone place they told me that every1's stuffed up and dont bother tryna send away for another as that one will 2. and they told me that some bloke got his swapped for a new one 7 times!! and each one stuffed up like the last. this phones screen is now dead and it sits in the bottom of a drawer. biggest waste of money ever. but it still does look good.

This Mobile Phone is great. Though that it takes a long time to write one single message but that doesn't matter becuase you are not going to write messages everytime. The Camera is really good 0.3MP, not bad but the good thing about this phone is it style and espeacially its memory. Wow Nokia you are pretty smart, such a small phone with such larg memory. My Sony Ericsson V600i only has 32MB. Overall its a unique design.

Battery life improved incredably after a software update. But now after 6 month of use I encountered a serious problem. The scroll wheel does not work anymore. Sometimes not at all, sometimes it makes the phone jumping from one item to the other. Very unpleasant. As much as I like the looks of it, it is one of the wordt phones I ever had, talking about reliability. It is back to the shop for repair now. Curious how it will come back.

I have this phone since last year. Aesthetically, it's a really dynamic phone. I especially like the 3 mins of voice recording. Only downside is that it's so fragile. Also, I've gotten a problem with the backlight sort of fading and coming back up, as well as the phone sticks and I have to turn it off then back on. But I like it.

i have always wanted to use this phone, and am glad when i got it 3 days ago. definitely a head turner, not because of its design anymore(coz' its an old phone already), but most people have not seen its absolutely cute screen. that's what attracted me most. battery was, average. im a heavy phone user, and i managed to keep the phone alive for 20 hours or so. then i had to charge it. i got used to the typing(scrolling) within a day, and it was kinda fun. it has like all the functions u ever need, and then, just today, my phone went faulty. there was no network. i sent it to nokia and then they told me it was beyond repair. was damn angry coz' i just bought it and as usual, i threw away the receipt like i always do. so i guess its my fault i couldnt get a refund. mind u, its a first hand phone. anyway, i know of another friend who encountered this problem. was a heartache as im still schooling and i paid for this phone out of my pocket money. however, i didnt regret buying this phone, and i am saving money to buy one again. i guess its a matter of luck. i just got a phone which was made by poor workmanship. BUT I STILL HAVE TO SAY ITS THE BEST PHONE I EVER HAD.*sob sob* lol

I'm in Canada and wanted to know how you would be able to upgrade the 7280 to the 3.27 firmware, if Nokia Canada can't do it as someone has stated. I'm buying mine off ebay so the seller won't be able to upgrade it for me either. Can you let me know if it's worth buying the phone if I can't upgrade the firmware, since I've read here about all the problems with the original version? I have this phone and love it. there's nothing like it currently and all my ignorant friends thought it was MP3 player. It was difficult to use at first but you get used to it fast. My only small complaint is it's a pain when making a call that requires you to press the key to response. Other than I love everything about it. I don't even want to use Bluetooth headset as it's a shame to keep this phone in the pocket.

I bought this phone and it had the old firmware on it, version 3.24. That had several bugs, such as the screen turning off when it rings sometimes or when you play a ringing tone. You could not put a full phone number in divert. Answering calls sometimes hangs up the phone etc. I brought it to a Nokia service centre and they upgraded the firmware to 3.27 and now all the problems are solved. So, it seems that the firmware is the most important thing here, Michael

you wont have any problems if you have the software 3.27. To check it press (dial) *#0000#. check ver.#. I just recieved mine today. I love it. You get lots of stare from people, and i love attention! So, if you wanna be the center of attention when on ur cell...this is the phone to get. Very convenient and light. Very squeaky tho. Especially the slider earphone part of the phone. You can choose not to use the slider up and down (just use the green button to accept and red to end. This phone is totally outright awesome! The best phone in the market...style wise and looks.

i think that this phone is cool but at the same time stupid. i think its cool because it looks like a ipod shuffle and tats neato. what i dont think was to smart was the fact that you made it look like an ipod shuffle because if you ever get it stolen then people think that they have taken an mp3 player and not a cell phone and i think a cell phone is more valueable than an mp3 player becuase you can do more with a celluar device than an electronic device.

To Me: Whenever you have to input text your countrys alphabet is shown in a endless row on the display with a cursor. You input caracters by selecting the caracter you want with the dial on the phone an pushing a button to accept it. Your selected caracter will then be added to the sentence yuo're writing and you can select the next caractor og space.

My opinion about the phone is that it is not realy worth the price. I had to make a choice which phone I was going to buy a few days ago. The choice was between 7280, SE and N90. After reading all the reviews I could and trying the phones I found out that the N90 is by far superior and bought it. The difference in price between the N90 and 7280 is not that big (at least where I live, only 164 Euro or 204 US dollars.), but the difference in YES design, features and performance is very big. Why pay so much money for a phone that has a nice look but does not have the features or performance to match the price by far. My opinion is that if you can afford to buy the 7280 then you should be able to also afford the N90. And if you are going to spend so much money on a phone then at least buy a phone which does what it does good. Just my 2 cent

Jebelle, i think u need to sent the phone to service center.. my 7280 battery can last me 3 to 4 days even i'm a heavy user. i can talk for hours and the battery still last. speakers are good also. even ringtone is good. so i think maybe yr set maybe is 1 of thousands that have so much problems. as i got mine with a friend and our's doesn't give us problems at all. and we are loving it alot... send yrs for repair... i think... good luck!

I'm really dissapointed in this phone. I think the further nokia go with the appearance aspect of their phones the worse their reliability becomes. My boyfriend bought me this phone a week ago BRAND NEW and it already had issues worse than my other phones INCLUDING older nokias that had literally fallen 2 stories onto hard tiled surfaces (among other hard knocks and drops) - these phones work better than this one. First day i got this phone and tried to talk on it and the other person couldnt hear a thing i was saying (even though i could hear them) i tested it with my other phones and sure enough the speaker just wasnt working - so i tested it with the handsfree and it worked ... i had to use the handsfree all the time for 2 days until it decided to start working (?). The battery life is pathetic. I have to charge it every day regardless if i use it or not - and i dont have any settings selected that will drain extra battery power. The bars drop up and down so you never know when it is REALLY low on charge ... until it turns off. It freezes ... i can't do anything with it, and sometimes the only way to un-freeze it is to plug the charger in (and i cant do that when im not home) but that only really enables me to get it off the current display its frozen on ... after that it just freezes again. It wont even let me store numbers because it freezes. Some numbers that are saved in on my sim card the phone doesnt even recognize anymore. My boyfriend called me but only his number showed up instead of his name so i answered the phone not thinking it was him ... and in my inbox it doesnt recognize that txt messages are from him either (as well as other people i have saved in my sim card). Aside from that the screen is tiny, no keypad is a pain, sound quality is bad, volume level for certain features is pathetic, the in-built battery only means it will cost more in the case of having to replace it - battery is teriible anyhow, you can't change the display font colour or size so its impossible to read the time and etc with most wallpaper, and, come on ... what nokia does not have any games? (ha ha) ... but i would have had tolerance for all of this if the phone was actually reliable. I'm taking it back. Really the only good thing about it is its looks but then again i have a VK Mobile which is the coolest phone looks wise and its such a good phone. Never gave me any problems and i've dropped it so many times lol. Really wish i didnt give away my Nokia 3610 -that phone was awesome (and doubled as a torch lol - it was so bright). I guess my conclusion is - LOOKS ARENT EVERYTHING. Advice - DO NOT buy a 7280

I bought this phone in january and after about 5 days the screen stopped working, (screen problems happen a lot on Nokia phones, remember the 8210 and 8310 problems?) i took the phone back and got a refund. But still inspired by its charm i bought it again but with newer software, and it works fine now. i think the problem is that companies release their phones as too quickly without testing (2001 release of 8310 in UK 10,000 were recalled) and its a problem like with Motorola and the V3, same problem. But anyway its a hot phone, but in Spain where i live although you can buy the 7280 not a lot of people know about it, so when you're talking on the street people think you are talking to a MP3 player hehe. It's a cellphone for 'those in the know' here.

I bought this phone only a few months ago and am still as in love with it as I was then. Loads of people ask me if it annoys me not having a key pad and the whole 'omg the screen is so small' wears a little thin. But this is the honest truth- you get that used to using the wheel instead of keys and especially with predictive text when writing sms's its JUST as fast. I've never had any problem with mine freezing or switching off for no reason so i've got no reason to complain. I love the fact that soooo many people say how cool it looks so it's an attention seekers dream! 10/10 (and it has a mirror too! what more could you ask for!) ;)

I got this phone about 3 months ago, the design is great and everyone comments about how it looks, OK so the lack of keypad was annoying to begin with for writing txts but look on the bright side just means you spend less money on txts! What is really annoying me is that within two weeks the screen keeps freezing, about a month ago the phone started cutting its self of and one morning last week when i tried to turn the alarm off the phone just kept vibrating. No one can tell me that's normal. All i'm trying to find out is that other people have this problem so my phone company don't try to fog me off with a 'it's the first i've heard of this happening' line.

First my battery indicator is realy funny it drops from 5 indicators to 1 in one day all of the sudden and reports battery low . i switch it of and on and it haves me 4 indicators works for another day then again the same . so i did a little test when he submited on second day battery low i have put it on headset radio on and speaker on only to find out that it coud styl play for 2 hours of radio without any problem ? So in my oppinion it batery ia ok just indicator is not correct , also i have found out i have one of the first firmwares installed coud this be problem ... please reply looking forward to answers ... regards

I think the appearance of the phone is very attractive and unique, but the battery life is too short having to charge it everyday. But the no keypad function, you get used to it, it's not that difficult.

Delimmabuyer, i use this at work quite often for radio (i take my laptop to the hallway and play the 7280 radio on loud speaker). the trick is to get a cheap headset and cut off nearly the entire thing (leaving enough to tie it to the strap). as long as the phone knows that something is plugged into some audio device, you can turn the loud speaker on. get a bluetooth wireless headset. it's hard to hold the phone between your ear and your shoulder when you need to use 2 hands for something. - alan.do

The Phone is so good looking and devilishely sexy but when it comes to usage at a public place the wheel bites, the easiest way to dial is using voice commands. But dialing with numbers is nasty. My advice: buy this phone ONLY as an extra, I have a Nokia 9500 as a main, and this 7280 when I am going out and want to show off, especially here in the USA where they still use BLOCKS as mobile phones.

I bought the 7280 about two months ago and have mixed feelings about it. I love the style and the small size but there are problems.. If you like to text don't buy this phone. I don't send that many so the slowness of the wheel doesn't bother me ( and I like gimmicks.) What does bother me is that the wheel lags, the phone freezes and switches off and now, the wheel will only let me scroll to the right on the alphabet.This means I can't jump to the end of it, but have to keep scrolling every time I need a full stop. SO ANNOYING!! It's going back to an engineer tomorrow to have it's software reflashed. If this doesn't solve the problem, no matter how much I love the way it looks, it's going back to Nokia. No way am I paying through the nose for a 'buggy' phone..

Delimmabuyer, congrats!!! make sure you learn to pull up the 'number entry' option quickly when calling automated services (where press 1 for this, press 2 for that). program as many voice tags and personal shortcuts voice commands as possible. DWD (dialing while driving) needs extra efforts.

Steven, I'm just bitter that I spent so much money on a phone that doesn't even live pass 6 months! Especially a Nokia! They usually last a couple years! On top of that, no one will fix it for me. You would expect better quality control from such a manufacturer. Like I said, people with some extra cash to spare, go for it! Jin, I agree with you in that respect - you must be able to enjoy the handset. I work for a large mobile phone company and we get cases all the time. It's the fact that everything is quality controlled before it goes out so it must be good as handset manufacturers have such good Q.C. divisions. Unfortunately electronic products do go faulty and in the instance that it does I grit my teeth and bear with it!!! Well it sometimes works ;-)

Jin, One thing that everyone must be aware of is that electronics products do encounter problems from time to time. People moan and moan about their handsets because they don't work for a few days of the week! Now and again, every electronic product will need a repair - nothing is fullproof. I'm a huge fan of nokia phones. I've tried all other brands, my most recent one being the sony ericsson T68. I finally decided to switch back to Nokia. You may think its slick, and its different, but you may want to think twice before spending so much money for a phone. I got one early Jan and after one week, it suddenly wouldn't charge. Had to send it back and get a replacement. After getting it back again, I encountered frequent lags and blank screens, suppose to be normal with this phone. This phone will freeze alot. Then it works normally again for a couple months. I've had this phone for about 6 months now. Suddenly, after turning off the phone one day, I couldn't turn it back on. Aren't phones meant to be turned off and on? Also, the rubber part of the dial is becoming flaky. Have encountered the same problems as everyone else here has shared. Debating if its really worth getting it fixed again or just get a new phone. Any suggestions?

DelimmaBuyer, absolutely! i highly recommend the phone if you have some spare change. i'll probably end up getting another one for my wife. you should also read the complete review on the phone from this site. here are a couple more things to add... 1. i was able to play the radio on the loud speaker w/o the bulky original headset by purchasing a cheap nokia headset ($7.00) and cut off most of the wire except for the plug (i left enough to tie it to the phone...where the leather strap used to attach) 2. got my first 'freezing' today while playing the radio, had to turn the phone off and on a again. i don't have access to a nokia store to upgrade the software, but will try next time i am in europe. 3. the top (ear part) seems a bit loose, kinda shaky. the plus side is that you don't have to pull the phone open when you want to talk. 4. another con: you'll need to carry the sim card removal device if you travel and have multiple sims i still love it! it's (IMHO) the most unique and classy phone out there period. i agree with the previous person that if you don't have the phone, don't knock it. we need objective reviews for people to make intelligent buying decisions, not brainless bashings.

i have this phone for exactly 1 week and intentionally waited before writing a review. the verdict: i love it, but there are a few complaints. pros: + 100% unique - form factor is the key here. head turner, you'll get "cool phone!" left and right. it's fashionably designed. nokia should have more color variations though. + slim - oh it's small, if you're looking for a light-weighter, this is it + voice and sound - a little better than my 1 y.o 6820. + mp3 player - quality player, impressive speaker (even if mono) + BT/IR - pretty standard, but look at siemens' cool phones (e.g sl65, sf65)...no BT + nice screen - for those who expect a large screen on this tiny phone, be reasonable! would you ask for a 21" rim on a VW beatle? it's perfectly sized, quality. cons: - screen - difficult to see in direct sunlight (possibly due to whatever used to do the mirror effect) - non-replaceable battery - if you forget to charge your phone, you'll not have an option of swapping the battery - radio - can't play through loud speaker w/o headset plugged it. apparently, this IS the nokia way for all radio phones. the vexing thing is that you CAN listen to the radio on loud speak IF the (proprietary) headset is plugged in. huh, nokia??? oh, and the headset is MONSTROUS. the wires are hard (almost unnatural), the speakers are larger than normal, and the connector is proprietary. in other words, i can't use my ipod headset to listen to listen to the radio. - txt/# entry - i am a little used to the entry method (scroll wheel and select), but still rather slow. voice tag (not voice dial since you can't say the number) helps with common numbers and functions. however, you are limited to 10 numbers and i think about 5 - 6 commands. - space - 50MB fits about 10 mp3s and a few VGA photos. - 'buttons' - the dial wheel is slippery from time to time (difficult to find traction). it doesn't squeak like the one reviewed here. the slider 'grip' (the patch of velcro-like material used to help 1 hand sliding) is also slipper from time to time. slipperiness is at worst when your hand is too oily or too dry. - no applictions - i can't imagine the owners want to play games on this phone; however, it would be nice if there are some basic apps (like calculator, stop watch, etc).

I have posted my opinion b4 but i'm posting again to announced that i have finally bought the phone on 24-May-2005 (to be precised). Till now, i'm lovin' it! I would recommend it to those people who live and breathe fashion coz it's such a head-turner. At the moment, there hasn't been any problems but i've asked the technician and they said that the lagging and freezing can be fixed F.O.C as long as it's still under warranty so that's very reassuring. Last but not the least, if u wanna turn some heads, dis the phone for ya'! Big Ups~

I wanted to get this phone since its release, But i was very reluctant seeing some bad reviews. But somehow with lots of guts and courage i went for this, and guess what. I like it a lot. And its a phone with lots of features and very stylish. And dialing numbers and sending SMS is not as hard as u think. With little practice u can tune in perfectly to manage this phone. I dont see any reason its rated at an average of 6.9 I wud rate it at 8 / 10 I also have used 7610, 6630, 9500 and SE S710A They are all in rich in features, But this one is cute and rich in style! Its worth a try! I wud give a green for anyone who looks for a stylish sleek amazing and trendy fashion phone.. Anyone who want a phone with a difference

Pretty great phone, though it looks feminine cuz it has the mirror and all, but its a great phone. Only problems is the freezing which can be fixed with the new firmware. Also the ringing volume that goes from medium to lound instead od just loud, not a huge problem though. Camrea zooms good distance, better than my old 715. Lloudspeaker comes in really handy and voice dial better than most phones, but not perfect. Mp3 player is very awesome, though 50 mb isnt enough ,but if you dont put whole songs you'll be fine. Still think they should add memory card slot though. Very attractive and fashion minded phone though, will get you a lot of attention. Though from reactions i got you either Love the phone or Hate it, very few people are in between. On a scale of 0-10 i'd give the phone a 9. Also i suggest geting the bluetooth headset, i have the hs850, and getting a bluetooth usb dongle if your computer doesn't have bluetooth, its very good for transfering mp3s, pictures, etc.

i won this phone from Jennifer Lopez.com and they sent me the phone and I was told it would work with any GSM service but i installed my SIM card and it says restricted. And NOBODY has been able to help me, or better yet no one is willing to help me. They have given me the runaround for almost a week now. SO in other words its a paperweight now. i dont know why people say this is a womans phone? in australia ppl call it the lipstick fone but if u get ova that it is a cool phone to have. mine hasnt frezzed yet! but i have herd u take it in to a nokia shop and they upgrade the software for you, i just think the ringtones could be louder, because when you have the leather case on you cant hear it at all???? and if your previous phone has blue tooth you will have no problem putting all your numbers

It has voice recognition, but not individual numbers, just the usual tagging to a stored entry. Battery life is rubbish...getting no more than 50-60 hours continuous standby with mimimal use. We've exchanged 3 times but they're all the same.

In iTunes, use the option to 'convert selection to AAC'. The resulting file has an end tag of .m4a, which should be transferred to the phone. There may be other types suitable for the nokia but this was the easiest for me.

If you have successfully transferred the file to the phone (the Tones folder would be logical choice), then it will appear in the list when you browse the folder. Play it first to check that the phone can play the file. Then follow the process to set it as your ringtone, either via Profiles or Settings.

tullulah - you cannot set mp3 files as ringtones. The way I managed to do it was by using iTunes and converting mp3 to the m4a format. Then transferring to phone via bluetooth. The phone only allows DRM protected music files to be set as ringtones.

Surely 7280 is a real nice mobile. I bought it purely for the contrast look - it really surges out of all the rests. BUT PITY, VERY PITY,as I may put it, my 7280 freezed as others!! - all you have to do is to "RETURN" it to "update" software in the machine. But why on earth does NOKIA not upgraded software in the phones before selling them? Why selling them faulty and make a mark on the nice Brand "Nokia"? Quite disgusted to have to make trip to Nokia shop and waited for 3 days for this.

I love my 7280. The screen has froze a couple of times but nothing major. Once you get used to it txting is easy and so is number entry. But the best thing about this phone is that i havent seen anyone else with it yet and i love answering the phone in public as everyone is curious as to what it actually is. alas! nokia finally released a true fashion phone. i mean its a real head turner.. everything in this phone is carefully studied for example the leather on the side is used for easily sliding the phone open since its too glossy. the navi spinner is a great innovation and fun to use. the flashing lights and lines really compliment to the phone's design. this is a gorgeous device. remember this is not intended for everyday use. its like a show off phone to friends and classmates. its quite expensive too, but knowing you will get all these features, then its money well spent.

I have been using my phone on T-Mobile US for one week. No lock-ups or freezes of any kind. Screen blinks with some ring tones. Settings for T-Mobile GPRS were easily requested via SMS through the Nokia website. The leather case can be wrapped to place the existing opening directly over the speaker (snap closures on side), and a small opening can be cut to align with the ringer port. Both of my kids were very quick to figure out how to use it, and now they want one...

Great night time phone but don't expect to be able to use this outside in the daylight. The mirror makes it impossible to see the screen which posses a major problem. Looks great at night though and will definetly turn heads. If you got the money check it out, if you don't leave it alone

I have a 7280. Nice phone with great features. It has loads of memory which is great. Mine freezes only sometimes and sometimes the backlight on the keypad sometimes flashes on and off but not to fussed over that. All the buttons still work. Anyway, great phone, but a little hard to text without numbers. The numbers make it easier. But, o well you get that. Good Job Nokia.

I purchased a Nokia 7280, it was the worst phone i have ever bought. I sent it back to the supplier twice and i now have a Sony Ericsson. All it did was freeze up on me and then just totally stopped working. The supplier also informed me after that Nokia had advised the phone had 'software problems'.

I recently got my Nokia 7280 in Hong Kong. It's a really stylish phone and the sound quality of the FM radio is EXCELLENT. Unfortunately, the more I use it, the more problems I've noticed. First of all, the leather case wraps around the cellphone and protects the phone from scratches. It looks very sophisticated but since the case has no hole for the speaker, I can hardly hear a thing when someone calls. And in addition to the freezing screen everyone has mentioned about, I also cannot turn off the Ascending ring!!! :( It drove me crazy!!! >_< *sigh* but I've gotten used to it! :P I'll probably just get it flashed later on...

The Phone has a tendency to freeze. There are a number of bugs when the phone's screen turns silver whilst you are doing something and then will not de-silver. Lastly my phone is now in repair as it locked up when trying to get a GPRS signal. Hope it will come back soon, as I love all the other features. Surprisingly easy to use.

For those that have read my previous posts, you may know that we've had to exchange 3 times already because of the battery. Well, the latest one (5 weeks old) has developed a fault and we have to send it for repair. The fault was the display would flicker between white and normal. Imagine your PC desktop going to white, then coming back...thats the effect. Its a shame but the quality of these particular phones seem to be poor...we've never had any problems with nokias previously, but we're sticking with the phone...its nice when its working.

I just recently got this phone and i love it. I was comparing it to my friends Moto V3 and i think this is way better (especially in terms of memory). Sms and dialing does take a bit of time but you get use to it. Definately a head-turner and the hottest phone around.

i love it. true, sms takes a bit longer (so does entering new phonenumbers) but other then that its great. pics are great (even when transferred to a laptop they look good), voicerecorder collects up to 3 minutes of sound, mp3, etc... and its a good conversation-starter.

This would have to be the worst phone ive ever purchased - Previously a "Nokia Technician' i thought Nokia were the best... I have a had it replaced under the ELF process due to dropping calls and resetting. 2 Weeks later the same fault occured again on the new phone - all they offer is to take my phone and fix it - (i'd fix it myself though i need the technical jig to analise it. So i send it away, Leaving me without a phone for 1 and half weeks. I got it back yesterday... same fault! Does not record video, but only plays them. Not tried which types yet though... Another thing I discovered...you know those automated phone calls, press 1 for blah, press 2 for blah...well, its a bit fiddly. You need to select Options, then numbers before you scroll and select the number so plan ahead, aarff.

It has a few inconvenients. No video streaming, no calculator and little too small display even the no. of pixels is bigger than 6230 for exemple. But with such a small display you don't need a video. Over all it's a very trendy mobile for the high society and for the smart people. i am having no problems with it,,its really great and spacesaving When texting first came out we had to learn how to do it and with this just like learning something new it becomes second nature,,its a sinch.the screen can be cumbersome in clubs but i find that anyway with the lights flashing or it been dark or to light.MAKE sure your bluetooth is off when your out to save power + your harsley going to use it and it will stop drunken pranksters bluejacking you

Hmmm, emergency calls...got me thinking why would nokia omit this?...so I decided to RTFM :) When the phone is keylocked, depress call button for 1.5s, then yes to make emergency call, then call...3 button presses. I guess otherwise, it'll have to be stored as the first contact number nad then keep pressing the navi select button.

I wouldn't say that J Lo using the phone is the best endorsement :) Camera is okay, max vga resolution, so 640*480 but it has 3 resolution settings...colours are okay too, but can't expect the same quality as a dedicated digital camera. Adequate I suppose you might say. Has a night mode setting too, but like most camera's, don't fair too well in low light situations...bit grainy.

Just got my 7280 as I said, and I am very impressed. Although I havent had time to test the battery the phone itself is great. Definatley not as hard to use as I first imagined and its definatley not tacky. The wheel texting thing is a bit strange but with predictive text 9 times out of 10 its not very much slower than a keypad. I agree that dialling a new number is a bit awkward, its prob best to save every number into your 7280 using sync. with nokia PC suite on your computer, this way there is no need to type each number in, just search for the name. Well done nokia overall.

i bought this phone and have found it to be well desighnd, funky, stylish and easyer to use than i first expexted. it also is easy to slip into your bag along side your purse and lipstik. the only downfall(if any!)is the screne size,after a whyle you seem to squint wich does nothing for your image whylst on a night out!!!its cool and makes you feel different because only affew people have it so far. the mirror on it is a god send because you dont have to worry about taking one out with you its already there. i would recomend buying this phone to anyone its brilliant!!!!

I got this phone, after 2 weeks of getting used to it, I finally have. It Rocks! Easy to use, inspires interest (girls and boys alike) Great play back features, BTW MP3's do work... I have loads of stuff saved on its "quite capable" memory, including two albums worth of songs, PC sync works like a dream, in fact I am still trying to find a problem with it... Maybe the texting is a bit slower, but it does make me think about what i'm inputting more... Otherwise no griumbles.. yet.

There is a voice recorder but not particularly great. Also has voice activated dialling, but only for stored entries. May have been interesting to have voice activated numbers...maybe speed up the dialling process? Okay, the battery life dissapoints. Having exchanged three times, we have come to conclusion that with light use, about 60 hours is average. I predict regular use wouldn't see much more than 40 hours (these times include leaving on overnight). Something you have to accept. Charging is rapid, about 1 hour from empty to full.

Just ordered a 7280. I have seen the real thing in the shops, and decided to go ahead and order. Screen is as people say, very small however its stunning looks more than outweight its lacking screen size. This phone may not be the conventional but it is certainly exceptional! I will post review once recieved the handset and used it for a while.

Phone was for wife, she liked the design, enough said. If its just about the money/value we'd be all wearing unbranded clothes :)....besides to alleviate your concern, it cost �40 on contract renewal. Its a very subjective topic that I'm not very good at arguing about. I used bluetooth adaptor to send song to the phone. It only allows wireless connection via infrared or bluetooth. To get photos and recordings off the phone, thats the only way. There's no cable connector available. Another thought. You might think the phone is for right-handed people but actually, I tried using with my left hand (I was eating at the same time...wooo, how multi-skilled am I). Its not bad, you hold it like you would a pen, resting on middle finger, in between thumb and forefinger.

hi, got one for wife, she loved the design so thats the reason, didn't really care about the features, its all about style. However, I've been playing with it so here's my thoughts. Texting and dialling is slower but what did you expect? Not for speed freaks so but it lets you 'show off' the phone while you take your time texting/dialling :o). There's an annoying inconsistency with accepting settings. Sometimes its the rotory dial 'select' button. Sometimes its the soft key. Screen is small, could have been larger but it is crisp. Speakerphone/ring speaker is loud. Speakerphone/ring speaker is covered up when in the leather jacket, so you can't hear it...duh. They should have made a hole for it. It does play MP3, but it will not allow you to set as ringtone. Pointless? possibly because it doesn't have enough memory to function as an MP3 player (52Mb). However, it allows AAC as ringtone but not the raw .aac. Its the protected version, don't know the name but what I did was convert MP3 using iTunes and then copied the .m4a (I think) file over and this can then be set as ringtone. Battery life is rubbish. 48 hours with light use and its dead...we are on our third exchange because they (Nokia shop) say it should be longer so testing whether a dodgy phone or not...latest one is even worse so far but we have yet to perform a few more recharge cycles...and yes, I did switch off bluetooth, and light effects. More later.

GUYS..DO NOT BUY IT. Had a chance to have some hands on practice on this magic stick. But believe me. Its really difficult to use it. Good for ppl who do not dial too many numbers and do not write too many sms. Writting an sms takes long time. Just to write " HELLO" you have to scroll all the alphabets starting from A to select H and then till O to select O. Only looks good on your desk. Good tool to turn a girl on ;) @T. Khan--Warsaw

I have one of these, got it mid January 2005. Cost me �35 on contact with o2 (�30 per month with 200 free mins and 50 free txts) I really like it, although some of my friends have said it looks more like a mp3 player. It's definatly a womans phone, guys larger hands would probably find it difficult to use the dial to text etc. To use this phone for text messages takes some getting used to but after having the phone for a few weeks I'm having no difficulty texting quite quickly. The screen that changes to a mirror is great for doing makeup (said it was a girls phone didn't I) My boyfriend wouldn't be seen dead with this phone but I love it and would reccommend it

I Got the 7280 yesterday after previously owning a Nokia 8910i as with my last purchase i got this phone for the styling more than anything, the 7280 without java makes this phone very simple and operationally basic, which is the whole point this phone isnt aimed at those who want to send dozens of text per day and certainly not aimed at those who want any kind of PDA functionality it simply doesnt have that, but if your like me and have a phone book full of every number you ever call then its great select the name and call, better yet use voice dial which works great, the construction is pretty good in my opinion but its plastic so time will tell.. i'm used to a titanium phone so i will just get used to the difference in construction, visually its great a real statement does show fingerprints with the glossy surface though. all in all i'm impressed so far...

Though the Nokia carkit 610 is compatible, it's impossible to pair the 7280 with it, because the time you get to fill in the 16-digit pincode on your 7280 is just 15 seconds. After trying to beat the time about 10 times i gave up....

I don�t like 7280 because Nokia does nothing with a high quality, but as for V3 it is the same hapless phone with unfinished design, there was only one good phone from moto V70 and one from Nokia 8910i. Specking about 7280 I think it is better to buy a Haier P7. Actually there are no luxuriously designed phones excepting Vertu on the market. I was expecting V3 or 7280 to become one, but first one doesn�t look good enough for me (unfinished design, keyboard looks strange, in closed position the phone looks a little bit ugly) the second one (7280) looks crappy and cheap.

BTW u cannot see the time on this phone.. or the charge status... or anything else.. without unlocking the keyguard. the mirror effect of the screen means u can ONLY see the display when it is illuminated by the backlight... which turns off after awhile jus like any phone. Okay, I am thinking of getting this phone, because I absolutely adore the unique design of it. The only thing that keeps me from getting it, is the fact, that it doesn't have the "classical" buttons like most of us are used to. yes this is an inovative phone and it looks good, but it is a designer phone with a designer price tag, if you think its expensive then its not for you, its aimed at the high class market. personally i hate it much prefer samsung D500 but i do appreciate the design trying to push us into the next centuary, were just not ready yet.

This is a niche market phone, it's not for everyone (as you can tell there is no keypad). The only thing I don't like is the glossy finish. It is a dirt and finger print magnet just like the Sony Ericsson T610 series. In short, it is a phone I'd like to show my friends but wouldn't use on a daily basis.

I've got this phone.. It has approx 50 MB of space btw so I don't see why ppl are complainin about memory cuz most phones have like 8 MB. Iono about u ppl... but 50 MB is plenty! Well mine was from HK so maybe it's different than other pplz? Yea the phone takes a lot of getting used to... but haha everytime sum1 sees it they go crazy...especially the women itz almost annoyin havin ur phone passed around every time it gets seen. altho it almost makes it worth the price hah. Nokia has gotta make some voice-to-text add on or sumthin so that texting is easier...i mean the phone has great voice recognition capabilities so i think that's a plausible idea... or maybe a wireless headset wit a tiny number keypad haha we'll see... This phone just launched in my country yesterday and it cost $1028 which is about 500 Euros... I tried on the phone for about 20 minutes and honestly... It doesn't impress me at all... The material of the phone looks cheap and I think sooner or later... The user will smash up this phone while having to do sms-ing with it because it's such a pain in the A$$ of its stupid functions and keys... Have played with it today and this is my conclusion; not worth to buy it. The one for all buttom works not so fine (sms took up to 5 times longer). The slide open system for the screen sucks; after a few weeks it will be filled with things you don't want from your pocket etc (scratches)! And the 7280 has no MP3 player inside only ringtones. Most con of this thing is his price; i had it in my hands, looked at it, tested it and said; over 500 euro for this piece of "design" not over my dead body. This thing is for Paris Hilton and other stupid blond rich types of women. Normal persons buy something else.

I think the design of this phone is simply brilliant. There are so many mobile phones on the market that look more or less like each other. I think it's good to finally see something different. I already preordered mine, the average price is about 515 euros here in Finland. Text messaging is done by selecting letter from the screen by using the wheel you see in pictures. There is a special dictionary thing to help with typing so it's not so awkward as it first might sound. But, of course, it's more difficult than with regular keyboard. So if you're hard core SMS fan, this phone might not be for you. Wow. I mean, it's like straight from Star Trek or some scifi movie. It also reminds me of some super intelligent deep space satellite which travels into the unknown reaches of space and calculates the atom structures of stars in it's spare time! And no, I don't think there is anything gay about super intelligent satellites travelling into far reaches of space, nor do I think there is anything gay about this phone, unless you mean "joyful, happy" with the english word "gay", and the anticipation of this phone sure makes me feel gay as Sir Roland of the knights of the round table :-)

This phone is dangerously undersized like the Olsen twins. Sure you don't want to carry a brick in your pocket but surely you would not want to carry this phone around? It's so freakin' tiny if I lost this phone and it was on silent that would be the end. Just imagine the looks you would get at school or work when you answered a call? You'll look like derek zoolander! Farout if someone accidentally put this down at a dinner table I would probably eat it. Also the only way of input is through that iPod-type pad. How are you supposed to write SMS messages let alone read them! The screens so tiny you won't know if you made a mistake and end out sending your friend a message from the al quaeda. Sorry it's just that Nokia has gone to far on the design of this mobile phone.

This phone is superb. the texting and phoning people takes a little getting used to but apart from that. It's unique and i have never used a phone that is as intresting as this. but i have got to admit when i first saw it i thought it was some kind of lipstick or one of those stick mp3 players.

It's iPod/BMW series 5/7 style... Very cool. Once you have your numbers @ your phonebook you never need a number again. Just scroll using some sort of disc. Or use voicedial... I think this wil actually be a great phone to handle, just a bit strange at first. Nokia rules...

I think this phone IS stylish,but we dont need stylish phones.We need normal phones with good functions.You only battle with other firms like SamSung and Siemens with style when your functions are compatible to theirs.The problem with Nokia is that they are always 'improving' on the looks of their phones,but never really the functions.Thats fine,but when your improvement is one step too far then you really have to think about it. And as for this phone,i think how the camera is hidden is pretty cool.The fact that you got to pull the top part of the phone up like the MIB Memory sticks.However,without a keypad its really hard to sms,or even call.I mean,a large part of an average human's life with a handphone is sms-ing,and if that function is gone i wonder what people are gonna do with phones.You cant really call.How do you answer?Stuck it into your earhole?

Wouldnt judge the phone till I can hold it my hands and see how it works! I actually like the idea of it having one touch answer and flicking it open to take pictures. Really dissapointed by the lack of bluetooth though, with everything supposedly voice operated would have thought it was a dead ringer for that. I think they are trying to copy the success of the Ipod if you look at the control panel. If it works as well as that....

Criticism: I criticize Nokia because if they want me as their customer, I'm telling them that this phone does not suite my needs. I'm not saying that no one else should get it. If you feel like it, go for it. I'm giving you my valid reasons of why it could be better. A good screen matters. A good navigation matters. This is general criteria for anyone, because sooner or later you will be annoyed by voice dial only. Tri-band matters. Bluetooth matters because in many countries you MAY NOT touch a phone while in the car. The design is totally up to you. Personally I don't like it. Another thing. Nokia should label their phones differently. It's so hard to talk to a friend and say: "Oh, this new 76..20 oh no, 7260??? Or 6370? What was it again...." See what I mean? I'm not trying to critizise Nokia for the sake of putting them down. But they will not have me as a customer with specs that I do not see suitable.

Personally I think looks/design is just as imoportant as the features. Take a look at marketing. There is the descriptive side, describing what the phone has and what it does. Then there is the visual side which shows you what it looks like. It might be surprising to learn that many customers are put off by an advertisement because they don't like the look of the phone, they don't care what it has they just don't want to carry an ugly phone. This is not good design at all!!

My two cents: If Nokia wants to copy the Simenes Xelibri: NOKIA, you're stupid. If you watch your competitor you wold realize that the Xelibri was shocking and not popular at all. Voice dial. Good to have, but relying on it??? No way. Background noise can influence it extremely...just not good enough. We know that Nokia wants to be good in design, but it's not enough. You need good specs and just a good phone. Looks are minor priority. Come on...watch your competitors Nokia, you are not the King of Mobile Technology.
