Hello everyone, I am thinging same like you, I really dont know what will be my next phone after the Nokia lumia 930 but it woudl be Nokia 8.1...I have used my Lumia 930 nearly 5 years and never have any problems with it and it have many great features. But in the next year the lack of the updatings will be a big problem... I know I will always missing my old Lumia 930...

I must disagree. WP8.1 is robust, fast, reliable. W10M is fragile, slow and not reliable. No, you can't install PC software on the 930. Even the OS share the Windows name, those operating systems are different architecture.

I've been using this phone for about 4 years now and all I can say is that I'm absolutely impressed! No phone can even compare to this beast. It has a great camera with options that can really help you achieve that something, of course you need to understand what you're doing. The battery lasts pretty long and won't fail you in the last seconds. The screen is so vibrant, extremely durable and resistant (I'm a clumsy person and my phone falls on a daily basis but the screen is scratchless). I'm only sad that many applications are unavailable specifically for this model, it seems like a sabotage because the phone stands up to expectations and even more. Aftert four years the camera struggles with focusing a bit, the sound is silenter and the phone kinda lags here and there , but it's all so minor. Above all, I'm satisfied for it's all over simplicity, no annoying ads or weird popups. Just you, your phone and personalised color you choose to spark up that white/black layout.I forgot the add that the size fits in almost every pocket so you don't lose your phone while partying. I don't really know what phone I will buy when this phone dies..

This is such a solid phone, OS and hardware. Gave it to my mom and shes been using it for the last 2 years. Interface is miles ahead of Android and more control over your phone. The OS is just plain quality and so is the build. Unfortunately I changed over a year ago to Android due to certain apps I needed for work but still prefer Windows. The Win10 update was quirky, losing the native Radio app was .. stupid.. but you can download another fm radio app.

Remember that some features dissappears with the latest update. -Equalizer ( it controls all sound output so you can fine tune the system sound to your liking unlike Android that only can control your music player. It is pretty neat, however you can also snag the EQ from the MS store on your phone to. NOKIA Lumia camera app will stop working if you update to the latest, will be replaced by Microsoft camera or something like that. However I don't experience worse performance or anything like that, just don't update all the core apps that come with it, only the ones that are essential to run the phone.

Yes, Windows 10 mobile is very good and you get more apps, as far as they are still supported. Many apps stopped support on WP 8.1, even Microsoft themselves. That means many apps are now only available on Windows 10 mobile. Besides you still get updates for Windows 10 mobile, I get even more updates on this phone than on my Galaxy Note8...

Update to Windows 10 mobile by using the Windows companion app, the updates should be downloaded and installed automatically when you have that option enabled. I do it manually by checking for updates every now and then.

Mine too. Since the update to Windows 10 mobile even the battery life improved on this phone. And still receiving security updates, more often than I receive on my newer Galaxy Note8. All with all, very good phone if you don't demand many apps.

I download the "Upgrade Advisor" app from the store but everytime I go to the "Phone Update" in the Settings, it only shows "We are currently unable to check for updates (80004005)". I am not sure if it was on my Lumia 930, but I remember there was an issue affecting some devices and getting stuck during the update. You had to attach the phone to the charger and start it again. I am not sure but this reminded me of an issue I had too.

Is anybody having battery issues after the WP10 update. The battery last less than half day ater the WP10 update. The battery drainage rate can reach up to 48% per hour. That is ridiculous.

I gave mine a negative review until I used interop tools and set the ram to 1024. The load times are close to Android now and even the camera works better. The phone works like it should have in the first place. You need to be on build 15063.850 to see the effects of the updates but the phone is lightning fast. Install the interop tool asap because otherwise this phone is very frustrating.

The back cover can removed in order to reach the battery and replace it, but it can be tricky. You will have to remove some extra parts to get to the battery. There are several videos on youtube that show how to do this with the right tools.

I forgot to add, dont ever charge this phone with the wireless charger. It will cut the battery life in half even with the cool orange glowing wireless charger. I dont know if its just this phone that it happens to but from one day to the next you will have a phone that discharges at a incredible rate. The 1709 update is only for later models like the 950 and if you install interop tools it will mess your phone up if you make serious changes. This phone is really nothing but problems for people that really need it for work.

This phone has too many problems even with the latest updates. I have the 830 and 930 and the 930 is so problematic I went back to the 830. Plus the pictures are better with the 830. There is so much wrong with the 930 from battery drains to camera problems its ridiculous. When shooting video I can drain a fully charged battery in fifteen minutes time when on the highest setting. The display is stunning to say the least but that's about all. The heat from the battery when shooting video is outrageous. This phone was defective from the beginning and I guarantee anyone that owns this phone will have the same problems. I did the insider program as well as resets and it never resolved most of the major problems.

I think bug fixes and security fixes, my 930 has 1706 as latest version. App updates are also still coming but Microsoft said they still give updates for at least security issues.

For all Asking Latest Production Windows 10 version 1709 is highly recommended. This is the same version (identically) of the Lumia 950/xl. And by the way I compared Lumia 930 to both 950 and XL , and I can confirm 930 is faster than 950 (due to the QHD Display) , and on par with the XL. The point is Lumia 930 runs Win 10 like the high ends 950/xl in terms of reliability.

At windows 8.1 the facebook does not work well, messenger and skype does not work at all. The system can be upgraded to windows 10. I upgraded to windows 10 and it works the facebook, messenger and skype too. Unfortunatelly the HERE apps don`t work because they decided to not support windows 10. I read something that it can be hacked that way that HERE apps would work. Until then I will use WAZE...

I had the same issue more than a year ago. It was caused by faulty hardware. I took it to the Nokia Service store and they changed the screen for free (even though it was past the warranty date and the screen had a small crack in the corner from a drop). I was so happy!

Does anyone know if it is possible to repair the mic for the speaker without replacing the whole screen? I can have a conversation when it is in normal phone mode but when I try to use the speaker, I can hear the other person but he/she cannot hear me. A case helps indeed. I have a case on my 930 and when it heats in the right low corner I don't really feel it. Since I took my phone out of the case several weeks ago and used here maps, the heat was very noticeable. With a case on it, not really.

It goes really hot if you use any graphic intensive apps or games. Every now and then I have a casing just so I can hold it during gaming. It uses the metal edges to vent out heat from the chipset. The lower right portion really gets hot more than the other parts.

Are you charging the phone from your laptop / computer? If so, try using the normal plug charger or a QI wireless charger. I have had the problem you described when charging the phone from my laptop. Hope this helps!

Running W10M since the first insider build on my W10 and it runs great (even if Microsoft doesn't support the latest builds - post Creators update - anymore, but you still get frequent updates). I would not want to go back anymore to WP 8.1 as it looks so outdated and is lacking many handy featurs of W10M. For people having the Microphone issue, this is really a hardware failure that only shows up in W10M because it uses those microphones (the phone actually has 4) that weren't used at WP 8.1, so the only way to fix it is to let it being repaired (the microphone itself only costs about $2).

I wasn't able to sort it out just yet. The phone is at home, drained from the restart loop. From observation, once it starts charging, the phone tries to open but the battery cannot give the phone the charge it needs and it dies. I don't know it it's hardware or the latest update. I stopped charging it for now. By the way it recovered twice from the loop. She recreated the restart loop(by accident) after the first one happened and she told me that it was the camera. Then out of curiosity I did the same and it never worked again. My bad. :(

Okay. My wife's Lumia 930 got that bug too where some mics won't work or had the volume too low. I don't know if it was solved. Actually, yesterday her phone suddenly went to a restart loop and can't figure out why. During the night, I was able to revive it but this morning it happened again. We figured it was the camera app since it was what she was last doing and it happened again(my fault for testing) using the camera even though I already did a hard reset. I think this is not about the update since my phone is doing perfectly fine. She's the one using it now. So back to the mic. topic, I won't be able to test it right now because of the above reason. The test will involve using the phone while doing an audio/video recording, phone call (also speaker mode). Maybe do some gently knocking on the mic's location while recording to see which one's working.

Woow! Good thing you asked about the microphone issues. Just now, I checked video recording and noticed in the setting it is now able to record up to 4k 30fps. I tried recording using 4k & 720p in landscape and portrait mode. All videos recorded stereo when I played back the video in the phone itself and using desktop. The issue where only one side of the audio was recording is solved. But if you have other mic issues, maybe you can specify. I didn't have any problem during updating. Also, I cannot compare now which is faster, windows 8.1 or 10. In the early builds, it was really slow. about the "no bugs", I cannot assure you since some bottlenecks can be different from other units. Me and wife have both L930 but her phone is more problematic than mine. That's understandable since it had more drops than mine on the concrete. But it still functions. Really an excellent build. Been using it for almost 3 years.

In the early builds it had bugs. I even complained about the bluetooth icon in the action center not taking me to the setting when I press and hold. But as of the moment it was already solved. Also, it had the microphone issue. But after further updates, it was able to record stereo again. But I will double check and update you if it is really working. Wifi issue? I'm not sure if it is the wifi router or windows 10(including PC) since we all experienced that issue. Restarting the router solved our problem. But after a month, our router issue was solved. We don't know how it happened. Brb.

Well to those who don't want to update, you should. I've been running windows 10 since it was released. Almost every month we receive updates, bug fixes and etc. We got Facebook, Messenger and the good Instagram app. It is still supported by Microsoft. To those who want to buy, buy it at your own risk. This is a 2014 phone so don't expect much from it. My only problem is the battery life since from the start it's not really for power users. Also, the app support from 3rd party developers is not that much. But the MS Office apps are powerful. If you have questions, maybe I can help.

I don't experience W10 mobile issues, when I updated to 10 I have since gotten more updates and bug fixes than before on WP8.1 and it works very well on 10. I even can get more out of the battery. Maybe I'm lucky but still goong strong with this phone for almost 3 years.

For people who wants to purchase this phone, my advice to is to avoid it ! Yes it is a good phone solid build, very fast, unique,... However this phones features are not up to date and they won't be, for ex: Messenger not working anymore, instagram app is weak, facebook also weak and old. If you want the experience of windows phone, just go get a WP 10, at least it has some updates and some new features.

iPhone (iPod, iPad - I had all) is not a cure, it's mainly a different set of issues. Better for somebody and worse for somebody else. Certainly, you get more polished details for the three (?) times more money you have to pay - except when you screwed by that shiny company, too. Try them first, look at videos how they work, and don't believe nobody, that's the main point.

Forgot to tell: despite of the beautiful AMOLED display, the feeling of the WP user interface is next to the nothing compared to the apps' look and feel of Android. Other than its black, it lacks lines, colors, visual elements (it's called: style, I know it well, but I call it differently), so the whole Windows Phone is just not enjoyable, a missed opportunity, I'm very tired of it. I always loved the hardware (except the battery too small to the task), this solid, black, shiny brick, but I'm now trying to run away from Windows (Phone) - if I can. :-) To Linux, maybe, as on my desktop. Btw. no more Androids, too (security!), but I liked a lot of its refined third-party or even OS apps much-much better.

There are no more or less problem than in 8.1, MS is always on the edge of unbearability concerning the small details and comfort of applications (can't do this from here but it can be done from there, you get the simplest, cheapest, most ridiculous apps for the money, tons of user settings are missing but you can't change factory apps, 'cause there's no way to root the phone, stupid behaviors to events etc.), but at least it's stable, crashes of any kind are really rare.

Alright having recently bought the phone I can share my views of the phone in 2017: 1. The screen is absolutely stunning. The OS looks amazing, with insanely saturated colours. It can be compared to today's AMOLED phones like the S7-it's that good. 2. Overall phone performance was a little bit sluggish sometimes. 95% of the time is zips along but then there'd be the occasional frame drop, even when just going through the menu. 3. Above average camera (for 2017). It was a little slow sometimes but photos in decent lighting were spot on. When recording videos, the microphones live up to the hype. It is simply outstanding. 4. Battery life was pretty average, there is nothing much to say about that. 5. Only 25GB of storage is available to the user, without expansion capabilities. 6. Build quality is solid as well, but my matte black finish would show fingerprints quite clearly-the metal frame of the phone however, has that cold luxury when you pick it up. Overall, it's a pretty decent phone for 2017. The Snapdragon 800 is huffing and puffing, but will get the job done for someone who isn't a power user. I especially enjoy that Word/Excel/Powerpoint is built in. However, I'd recommend it more as a secondary device rather than as a main unit, as the performance and storage deficiencies may be too much for some people to overlook.

I've been using this phone for more than 2 years now and it works perfectly.I play games a lot,but the battery lasts long enough.The only con is that pictures taken in low lighting are a bit grainy.And before I forget the sound is amazing.All in all this phone is great and I recommend it to everyone :)

It's not fair to compare it to technology that's three years ahead. If you can find it for $300 or less, it's good value. The screen is beautiful, the camera can hold its own against most other smartphone cameras, and the general construction is solid, save for the adhesive that keeps the screen+touch digitiser stack glued to the aluminum frame. There's also a design issue that causes one of the microphone pairs to fail, and to compensate for that you have to use hadsfree/ wireless heaphones instead of the speaker mode during calls. The audio jack has a tendency to fail, just like all audio jacks do as they wear out over time. The biggest deciding factor is whether you absolutely need certain apps to connect with your friends (Snapchat) or if you crave to install every new app that pops under the sun (Pokemon Go, Super Mario Run). If not, then you can happily run Windows 10 Mobile on the 930. In some cases, the best third party Windows app is miles better than the official version on Android/iOS - a notable example being YouTube.

Nokia 930 is a very bad phone with a good design. battery is drain so fast. i charge the phone twice a day for normal use. camera is just so so, i expect more with 20MP spec camera, but i think the quality is average, especially if you take a pic with low lighting. and the worst is the screen have a strange problem. it started as a small stain and it grows a little everyday, and almost 70% of the my nokia screen is darker now. sorry for my bad english.

I have been using dual sim version of 930 since January 2015 and which was on 8.1 and all was very smooth until I updated to Windows 10 (build 10.0.14393.02004). After I updated the camera performance is worst. Now the camera is unable to focus and pictures are very much blurred. Performed the anniversary update a couple of days back. When I press the search button, Bing wallpaper doesn't even show at all anymore. Just a black screen with a search field on the bottom. It's really boring, in W10 mobile it already wasn't done so well compared to 8.1 when you saw the screen filled with the daily Bing wallpaper, but now it's even worse. after 6 months when I have Lumia 930 it starts non stop resets. it can go non stop or just switching off any time - in 10 min after you started it again or in 1 hour. Installed app Stop Reset as Microsoft released it especially for this reason. when you open it says You don't need to do anything as you have the latest update. Bulshit - it continues restarting. Made a hard reset - the same. Microsoft also tells to install computer software Microsoft fix it - Stop Reset and to use it together with computer but try to find such software - if you use anyone just computer rejects. On windows insider latest build FM radio is removed. Actually it was removed several patches ago. I think I have read they discontinued it. There is another "fm radio" app in store, but not by Microsoft.

I don't think the battery life will be much better on Lumia 950 (considering it has a higher resolution screen). I'm using this phone almost 2 years and that problem with battery draining while using apps,browsing,watching videos or playing games always existed. Maybe you should get a power bank for now and wait for a new windows phone. Lumia 950 isn't a big improvement over 930.

Hard reset Sir. When going to an entirely new OS this is essential. The lumia 930 on 10586.338 runs without a glitch. Solid!! Battery life is also decent. It's the Redmond build that has the battery drain bugs on the L930.

it depends on you sha. for some people the lumia 930 is more than enough to run their daily task and more plus it has a great camera. the advantage i see of the 950(xl) is that they are newer have more future proof . better image output biometric scanner and expandable battery and micro sd card . which if you have a great deal on the 950. ill tell you to buy it and never look back. as a 930 owner the fact i cant change the battery and expand memory is haunting me . honestly want too upgrade to a 950xl soon as the price drops...

It's just a production update, official one. I haven't checked for updates since the official upgrade to Windows 10. I got a message about an update, so I performed the update but it was bigger than expected, it took quite some time. No idea what the changes are.

I had the same microphone issue. I sent it to MS since it was in warranty. They told motherboard has the issue and it needs to be replaced. So they changed the motherboard for free. Now its working perfectly fine.

From what I can observe in order to have Continuum a phone must have a usb type-c port, Continuum doesn't work on phones with micro usb. All phones running on Windows 10 are capable of using Continuum feature however in order to use it they should have usb type-c port, I hope in near future Microsoft makes the Continuum wireless so that phones with micro usb slot will also be able to use Continuum feature.

I own a Lumia 930, apparently there are some issues with microphones where if you use speaker phone mode, the other end can't hear your voice, and volume is kind of low when you take a video, but I don't think that happens to all 930s, guess I am just unlucky. Other than that, it's pretty great, a lot cheaper than the 950, heard people saying they like the metallic edge on the 930 over the 950, so that could be something to consider. But on the other hand 950 allows you to use continuum, where 930 doesn't, so if you want to experience that, you should get the 950, and it's about 1.6mm thinner and a tiny bit lighter, but it is longer and wider and as a tiny bit lower body to screen ratio, sorry forgot you were talking about 950XL here, anyways, there's always a rumour of surface phone in the near future, and the 950 tbh is not that great looking of a phone, just average, 930 does have a distinguished look. I would recommend 930 to save you some money and you can still enjoy windows 10's most features, and wait for the surface phone, lol. I personally am waiting for a unique looking phone if one ever gets made (hoping the rumoured surface phone could be it), Nuans NEO is also a good choice which according to the company could be made available some time in the future, I am hoping it would be within the next 6 months with it's original specs, none of that cheap version sharp did with their crystal smartphone.

i updated to windows 10 mobile 10586 build. now my outlook is not syncing and i lost all my contacts and mails. i tried almost except hard reset, which might take me back to window 8.1, like signing in at mail or people and every other accounts set up available. after i sign in with id and password, a message comes as everything is done but when i go out to check the sync, its not to be found. gmail on the other hand synced and works perfectly. pls help.

I think it's a bug. I also experienced this when I made a video on our adventure trip. Playing back the video became a problem when we found out there wasn't any audio recorded. Hope they will fix this ASAP.

I've been using Windows 10 Mobile since it's early stages in 2015 and all I can say that on the 930 is great, far better than WP8.1 in my opinion. No lag or resuming screens. The experience overall is really good, specially now that is getting integrated with the Action Centre and more in Windows 10. As of today March 2016, the system still lacking on apps, the most common ones are there but is good value for money when compared with the other options on the market.

Using Lumia 930 from last 3 weeks. Before that I have used Lumia 730 for 9 months. So I agree with you. Before Lumia, I was using Android since last 2 years. Once into Lumia, I would never like to go back to any other platform. But few small things bothering me. Lumia 930 is heating like hell and battery drains fast when using Lumia Camera. While lack of expansion slot is not an issue for me, but non-removable battery sometimes bothers me. Being a PureView Camera specific phone, there is no official app to capture HDR photos. As a consumer I don't understand negative reviews of Lumia hardware and certainly not of Windows Phone 8.1 as I have owned iOS and Android devices but recently dumped my iPhone for the Lumia 930 and cannot believe I waited so long to do it. Best phone operating system I've ever used... by far. And the Lumia 930 is a fantastic phone with great build quality and features. I have to admit I would have preferred a microSD slot but the free 30GB of OneDrive storage moots a lot of that concern. I also don't store everything I shoot whether camera or video on my phone forever and regularly move the 'keepers' to my laptop which is easy-peasy with OneDrive. This keeps a lot of OneDrive free space available and also leaves a lot of the 32GB on the phone. Detractors always talk about lack of Apps but I have found good apps for everything I want my phone to do. In many cases the App on the Lumia is better and more intuitive to use than the ones I had on Android and iOS. Who cares if there are a million apps available for Apple when most people will only load a two or three dozen on their phone and then only regularly use a few of those along with the major apps that were preloaded on the phone. Cortana is already better than Siri from my perspective. Add the live tiles and the really flexible ways you can configure and personalize your phone and I'm amazed there are so many people that haven't even tried it. Of course, you need to get your hands on one and you need someone that knows the operating system and actually likes the phone to tell you about it, and that won't happen in any Verizon stores - they'll be shoving the Moto at you and the Icon they have on display will have no live tiles running and most of the Apps won't be pinned to the Start screen so it will look like a desert instead of the vibrant ecosystem that Windows Phone 8.1 really is. So I picked up the international version Lumia 930 and I am really glad I did. The Denim and Lumia Camera updates that will give it 4K video and will make it even better. Only suggestion I'd make to Microsoft is to try and put a microSD card in the next iteration but, otherwise, don't change too much other than the usual expected specification upgrading that everyone does. This phone is a great size and I wouldn't want thinner but a bit lighter would be nice although there is a satisfying weight to the 930 that is hard to explain. And if Microsoft really can make Windows 10 run across all types of devices that will remove any issues of Google pissing around with the YouTube thing and Apple not doing an iTunes version for Windows Phone. Microsoft won't need to depend on other competitors to come to the party because those guys aren't willing to lose the huge market segment on Windows-based desktops, laptops and tablets. I guess at some point it just became more fashionable than rational to dump on Microsoft when writing reviews of anything they are involved in. And no, I have no relationship with any of the companies mentioned, I just buy the gear to get stuff done in my personal and working life. The Lumia 930 is a really fabulous phone with a great intuitive and flexible operating system. One of the best purchases I've made.

I bought L930 on launch. still using it. initially felt a bit unfriendly. But when I use other phones there is nothing to compete with this. looks, clarity and performance are the bset. I have now sony z5 compact also. both are nice, but still prefrer L930. Just waiting for windows 10 upgrade and will see how it goes. Went in for sony z5c just because a smaller unit and delayed windows 10.

It works very well and only really had two big issues and that was with screen not waking up on an older build, but I must say it looks great on the 930's screen and battery life is about the same. So all in all I don't think there is any point holding off upgrading to WP10 myself.

It's not been officially released for the 930, but you can join the insider program and get a pre-release and very stable copy of WP10. I have been using it myself for the last 5 months on my 930 and have no regrets installing WP10. One thing to be aware of tho.. you will lose Nokia here drive maps and city lens during the upgrade and get a all in one replacement map application in stead, but no city lens. Enjoy.

Got this unit through an online store here in the Philippines at Php11,990 including shipping fee. It was such an awesome deal. The device itself is wonderful. Everything from it just fits my needs- generous RAM, spectacular display, impressive camera. The issue of limited apps and games is not of my concern since I only need basic ones. However, the 930 failed to impress me with regards to heating issue. I honestly feel it often. All in all, 8.6 out of 10 😊

I too have the problem with voice during video recording. But I realise that if I start recording with the phone in horizontal position its no problem .start recording with the phone vertical position I will have no sound. Can you try that with your phone. Good luck

Well it depends from person to person. The 1520 has the advantage of a micro sd slot and a bigger battery but I don't have big hands, so I prefer the 930. I had a 1320 which is the same size and the battery was great. 1520 battery is even better, as far as I know it's still the best in gmsarena's battery test.

No dude 1520 is better bcos it has sd card slot (upto 128gb)and 3400mah battery..930 and 1520 are same on processor (2.2ghz quad core), ram(2gb) with 20mp main camera ,1.2 mp front camera.. 32gb of internal storage... But 1520 has bigger display (although IPS LCD but better) bigger battery and sd card slot.

Phone performance is good, but battery backup is very less, does not last a full day with medium usage. Phone heats up when playing games. Microsoft Support in India is very poor. My phone's touchscreen stopped working suddenly when i was on a call and the phone is with Microsoft Care for nearly 1 and a half month and still they are saying it will take another month to get it fixed. Horrible experience with Support.

Forget the new Lumias 950 and 950 XL. Prices are astronomical. I've just got brand new Lumia 930 Black Gold for 420 EUR including all taxes, customs duties, etc. And Lumia 930 standard Black for 220 EUR, also BNIB. 600 EUR price for Lumia 950 is not justified. A couple of more cores, liquid cooling, blah blah blah,.. is it worth another 300 or so EUR? Nope. WP 10 preview (slow track) installed on my 930. OMG this is a great OS so much has been updated and for a pre-release OS its very stable and user friendly. The only down side I can see atm here maps etc are not supported and city lens is also gone, so sorry to say you will be stuck with MS maps, which is ok, but not the best.

I had the same problem and it stayed even after I returned to Windows 8.1. In addition to that having a call with speaker on hat the effect that the others didn't hear me. So my assumption was, that one of the noise cancelling microphones was broken. I had it repaired by Nokia, as I'm still under warranty.

Not that bad but still, my 1020 does better. I can imagine that if you use the phone a lot, the battery will last just till the end of the day.

Yes. I got the phone from day 1 it was released. Location is turned off, wifi is connected only when available and the battery saver settings are all optimized. The phone sucks the battery dry i no time. Just look at the endurance rating, it is almost 50% lower than an iphone 6s which is known for a short battery life.

I have had the Lumia 930 for a year now. I completely love the phone, been so stabel and it was quick from the start and has never slowed down or shown any lag ever. I came from a Galaxy S4 and will not go back to Android due to the lag and slowdown after a month of use. A friend also received one 2 months ago and cannot stop telling me how beutiful the phone operates. The only negative I can offer is the phone does get hot under stress like playing highend games for a while, depending on your cover this can become irritating.

Nokia 930 is a problematic phone, my friend and I bought this phone the same day. Barely 3 days after I observed; when I'm on speaker phone the receiver won't hear me, secondly, video recordings is not audible when played back. The two phones have the same challenge. I took mine back to a Nokia care (Microsoft office) two weeks after I was called to pick it up, they actually swap it for a new one according to the front desk staff. The same speaker problem has continued with the new copy I got. Terrible phone, worst Nokia product! I'll never recommend it for anyone.

Yes it is. Battery life ranges between 1 to 2 days max with normal use. Display is excellent. Camera is also good. Does not hang/freeze except in music player after updating new songs. However, de-freezes after some time. Overall an excellent buy if you are not looking for much customisation like possible in Android.

That is possibly a counterfeit phone, because my Lumia 930 does none of that, actually, my battery life lasts almost 2 days, granted with continued uses it goes down faster, but battery saver is quite the saver for real. And yeah, it does get hot, that's a downside, but at least it didn't over heat like my previous Lumia 920 use to overheat and turn off and can't turn back on. I just bought a phone case, and I can't feel the heat anymore. Only SLIGHT warmth.

There are some great YouTube apps on windows store. My favorite is Metrotube. You can connect to your account, watch videos or listen to them e.g. music videos(even with screen locked/off)and pre-load videos(like downloading,you can watch them offline but only via the app). Excellent battery life and robust OS is a boon. Oh, the stereo speakers. That is my daily driver, I use it for work. Lumia 930 is my casual photo taker, and Here maps are better for my country and it is fast too, if you use Windows 8.1. But it has the issue with lower capacity battery, apps gap and I don't like the battery heating up. Where as Lumia 1020 is purely THE ultimate camera phone. If you want to take breathtaking photos, and have 'some' smartphone functionality, my go phone is Lumia 1020.

My Lumia 1520 was replaced with this phone too .. not recommended .. has no external memory and the phone I recieved as a replacement had a poor wi-fi, had to get it exchanged for another Lumia 930 from the official store. Not worth the hassle.

Why they don't replace it with a new Lumia 1520? Lumia 930 is better vs Lumia 1020 (CPU,Ram,screen). On Lumia 1020 only camera is better but due to old specs it can't support full denim update camera improvements. Anyway, Lumia 930 has almost the same specs with Lumia 1520, only battery is worse and screen smaller. Ps Lumia 930 gets hot if you play games for a while.

I think you should contact with the carrier (Airtel India). Lumia 930 supports 4g. I had to send a message to my carrier(Vodafone) to enable 4g. You should also ask if the activation is free or paid, some carriers in my country charge for 4g activation.

I've been using these phone for more than 3 months and the bad thing i found that it gets very very hot during playing games, using GPS related apps (here maps) etc. It's battery drain is also quick when the phone gets hot. I don't have any problems with the battery. Lot of browsing and texting will last 1.5 day. My iPhone and Android would need a battery charge within 1 day. The phone does heat up a bit. But nothing annoying. During winter it's actually really nice to hold a phone that feels like it's been in the sun.

I've been very happy owning a Nokia 930 for 8 months now. Here's my story.. After possesing an iPhone 3gs, followed by a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it was time for a new handset. Because I would own it for 2 years I really wanted to make a good decision. A couple of months comparing differtent flagships finally made me decide. The Nokia 930 was a winner because of the camera specs and I very much liked the design. I was really nervous about missing out on apps but after a fews days I noticed I didn't miss out on anything. If the original app isn't available a third party app comes to help. Although I bought the phone because of the camera, this WAS the only feature that was really disappointing. Launching the camera app was very slow and the quality of the pictures was disappointing. After the Denim update this all changed. The launch time is great and also the quality of the images is great. With Frame Selection you don't even have to take pictures, but just have to film and select an image to your liking afterwords. I don't want my story to be too long so here are my pros and cons: PROS: - Camera, speed and quality. - Dedicated camera button (while taking the phone out of your pocket, you can press the button and start up the camera) - Screen, so beautiful, still very good in direct sunlight - Reception - Ability to download maps and navigate through GPS (no data usage) - Torrent downloads: without jailbreak i've downloaded a couple of high res movies through wifi within 45 minutes! - Tap screen to activate CONS: - Power/button is to small. It makes it hard to turn the screen off - Weight: the phone is heavy and nog well balanced. Falls out of your hand easily - Slippery: the screen and back are sooo slippery. This makes it a challenge to hold the phone, although I've never dropped it. - Whatsapp integration: URL and Video sharing through Whatsapp isn't as easy as in iOs and Android. Update please!

Sorry too late... In order u can disable background apps...it also increase battery life. Go to setting.. Battery saver... Select usage... Click app where have allowed tipping...and clik off. It seriously n permanently disable app running background...like bbm,whatsapp,etc... Hope it helpful

I have the same phone I'm getting a good 1-2 days with my normal usage and that's like 2-3 hours games lots of you tube music 2 hours and the other normal stuff daily. extensively I easily get 1 day. The back heats up bu a is a little warmer than I'm used to but guess what all my other phones heat up too. Definatly only seens to heat up when playing games and charging so nothing big there. Defo think you have something going on cause battery wise this pisses all over any of my iphones past and present.

My suggestions for heating issue: Don't play games for more than 20-30 min continuously and don't use it for internet or gaming while charging. Also during winter when temperature is low phone doesn't overheat.

I'm not sure if this will solve heating issue. Actually I can't find the option for background apps in settings. You can press the back button for 2-3 sec to enter multitasking menu and close the opened apps running on background (e.g. Messenger, facebook, Lumia camera some times stay opened even after you exit the app)

Microsoft has made some development tools that will allow developers port their apps and games written for android/ios to windows 10 with almost no effort. So this will close app gap on windows store. Until now, Candy Crush Saga is the only app ported from ios to windows. You can search on Windows Central site for more info.

Lets see how it will work. 1020 did a great job when taking pic, it run Asphalt 8 perfecly without lags but phone got REALLY heated while playing it for a couple of minutes. Part 3.i use fm radio a lot which i miss very much on note4:(. Form factor:this phone is heavy and feels bulky compared to note4. The side is not rounded but sharp edgy and does not feel good holding in the hand after 30 minutes. Windows phones in General, have much higher performance and battery backup compared to Samsung phones. All the apps can be un-installed, so No default apps will consume your battery. If you want real battery back for more than 2 days, go for Lumia 1520 or 1320. but it's much bigger.

I have used the Lumia 930 for a few months now. Overall it is a good phone. It is heavy (I used a 920 before so it is still lighter than my previous phone but generally heavy and I ma not sure why). The 20mp camera is not convincing. It is slow to focus so by the time I take good pictures I have taken 3 not so good ones before. HDR(or what is called "rich capture") only works super well if you are dead still. Apple and Samsung take pictures that are just as good but take a shorter time to get good quality pics (I realized this when i was trying to take a picture of a dolphin as it jumped out...i had to hope it jumps out again). The processor is brilliant (I think the OS works with less power so this one makes it super smooth). I have to point out that the phone, again, is generally great and would buy it again if given the opportunity. No phone is perfect but I can happily say that the 930 is an improvement from the 920 which is also a brilliant phone.

You should check with which resolution you made the video. Go to your camera, click the cogwheel (settings), swipe to video and check the resolution. For fast uploading and downloading/streaming, choose one of the 720p resolution options (fps=frames per second, so more pictures per second and clearer image, but also more data). If you leave it to 2160p/30fps, you are shooting a 4k video, which produces HUGE data files. Not good for storing in the cloud if you have limited space.

depends on what you will do.. that battery will last almost a day for regular use like slight internet etc.. if you use mobile data and browse or game.. the battery drains fast like any other high end phone because it wants to delivery to you a fast performance so it will use up energy

It depends. On standby it can last for ever lol, e.g. at night while I sleep(approximately 8 hours) it loses 1-3%. Also battery consumption for music is low. But games, apps and videos drain battery too fast (2-4 hours). So generally with moderate use battery can last one day or a little more.

It's not 5 mp, in the settings the default is 5mp + 16 mp. Each time you take a photo it saves one file of 5mp and one of 16 mp of the same photo. You can see the 16mp picture via Lumia Storyteller or file manager. Also you can choose auto upload to OneDrive the better quality picture.

I've used both 1520 and 930. There is no difference as for display. Yet, the enormous battery of 1520 is quite practical. You never have to worry about the battery dying through the day. If you don't mind the 1520 tablet size, go for it.

Well I can't suggest you an android phone so I will tell you negatives of L930 and you decide. 1.Battery life is not that good, one day with moderate use. 2.No expandable memory, only 32 GB which is not so much, with few games, some apps and music-pictures I have only 9 GB free. 3.Heating issue sometimes. And the pros: 1.Awesome OS, no lagg. 2.One of the best cameras I have used, fast and great quality. 3.Stunning design, feels good on hands. 4.Still one of the best windows phone devices concerning the specs. 5.Windows 10 will arrive soon.

Hi, I have this phone more than 5 months. It is indeed super fast and no lagg. I haven't use Android flagship so can't compare. I have a lot of games and apps installed and it runs same smoothly as when I bought it. Also you don't need to reboot it to free ram memory. The camera after Denim update is even faster and better than before.

Oh Nokia, why are you doing this? :( Once you were great, and now... So I bought this phone. Don't get me wrong, it's great phone - super fast (like all phones with windows phone 8), no lag, nice design, superb camera but... First, why are you making the Apple's mistake with iPhone 5 (if I'm not mistaken) metal frame and bad reception? No, my reception is not bad, but when I use data trough EDGE the screen jitter's like an old PC monitor if you put GSM near it. This is ultra giga annoying. And it happens only when your operator coverage is not so good and there's no 3G available. If you cover the phone's antennas (top and bottom middle part of the phone) with your fingers, the jitters stop... Another minus - vibration. This phone vibration is so wooden and stupid. You can actually hear how your phone vibrates. Lumia's 820 vibration was so smooth and nice and now I have to turn off navigation keys vibration off. Lets continues - when I make a phone call, for some reason the phone produces some kind of sound just after I press "call". Well this is not something to expect from a "flagship" device. :(

Nokia Lumia 920 has a way better processor than lumia 1020, which makes it possible to actually use the back-camera in the way its meant to be. PS: Nokia lumia 1020 had a dual-core 1.5 krait processor(the lumia 930 has a way better snapdragoon 800 quad-core processor), which was to weak to use the fully potential of the back-camera. The result was that photos were okey, but when you records a video with the camera, the processor couldn`t handle more than 1080p @ 30 fps. I fully recommend you to choose the lumia 930, if you want a camera that is actually working in its fully potential.

I had 1020 for a year, substituted with 930 cause of accident :( 1020 is mainly projected around the camera, 930 is more integrated, a complete form of communication for all purposes. I am very very satisfied. Also is more updated respect to 1020 and after a while we will see the 1030 invasion.

I'm sitting next to a guy with sony z3. We did a test on camera of my 930 and his z3. I ain't pro on photograph stuffs but you guess what. 930 is the best :D make it update to denim and you will see much improvement in camera and such. Pureview technology is no doubt still the best for camera phones at the moment.

Actually they have the same camera and music quality since both have the same specs. The most important thing you should consider is size, 5 or 6 inches. The 1520 also has microSD slot and a bigger battery. But if your concern is only about the camera and music, then you'll have to decide based on the size. I have the 1520 and it's great, I didn't mind it's size, I've got used to it very quickly.

Never even saw it in person rather than a few Youtube commercial before I bought it 2 months back, trading off my HTC One M8 and to say I never have the feel of regret at all too. For the 1st time I feel like I have got a complete smartphone. Its a true smartphone apt for all my work use. Let it emails of working with word, XL or ppts. The battery of the 1520 is way better, but it's also way bigger. The specs are the same. The 930 is a smaller version of the 1520, both are flagships. It's up to you whether the battery life is more important to you, or the size of the phone.

If you okay with large sized devices then I would suggest you go for L1520 as you are more concerned about the battery. L1520 has better battery than L930 and to mention it has the glance screen... else all other features are same. L930 has better screen and colors cos of its higher pixel density. To mention, I get almost 24 hours of battery with around 20% remaining post 24 hours of charge. My phone is always on with wifi or data services. I don't play games on my phone but I use FB, whatsapp and other internet required services. My location services and heath tracking is always activated and also cortana [alpha]. I speak over calls for 2 hours on a average per day. FB, whatsapp, office 365 & other internet services will sum to 5 hours on an average per day. 4 emails accounts synced always. I have L930 using and I love it for what it is! Now I leave you to choose from here.....

Don't worry about the temperature, it happens normally to me also and almost to all devices-smartphones under heavy use(most of them made of plastic, so you don't understand it). Now regarding the battery, drain it down until the battery saver signal activates and then make a full charge for 6-8 hours). If you've already done it ok. Dont leave constantly "all night" the device pluged to the power, is no needed and the battery is "getting tired". The battery needs time to be calibrated. Follow the instructions-tips to save energy, there are many of them.

Please note that the model sold in retail outlets in India is RM 1045 and this only supports 3G no LTE available on this model. My first impressions the operating system is really smooth, the build quality is top class. The phone did get hot initially but after a software update it has never heated up again.

I think it's normal. I have mine Lumia 930 since October. The first weeks battery was draining too fast, because I couldn't stop using it :P Now I charge it once a day(or twice if I play games for long time). Concerning the heating problem, I had experienced it also the first month and thought it was fixed but maybe it doesn't get hot due to cold weather here. I don't know.

Hi there, The battery life is good for me, as I am a heavy user of Office, Emails, FB, Whatsapp, Instagram and casual browsinh here & there. I charge my battery every morning to 100 and by the next morning just before charging I see the battery at 20. To mention I don't use my mobile at all 12.30 AM to 7.30 PM. Still I am satisfied with the battery life. Also my location is always in activated mode and also cortana is ON. Cant comment on the battery life post Denim update as it's only 1 day from the update received. But to be frank Seems same though for me.

Since Lumia 920 first introduced, same tick tick of 10 plus onwards to 40 have seen. Just see latest worldwide specs Windows has fallen, as no developer has shown real interest in apps,or introduced new recognition wise but copy of all social media ad selfies. All copies of androids apps are slowly released only. Windows was best n laptops or desktop only. Resale or demand worldwide is less than 5% as I see it.

I've been using the Phone for past 2 months and was already in love with it especially its Office apps and the unbeatable Camera (wont compare with L1020). With the denim update the camera is just wow now. Its functioning is far from reach for other smartphone as on this day at least. I have used iphones & flagships from Samsung & HTC (especially traded my HTC One M8 for this beast of a smartphone), but never expected that Windows phone is so so super cool. Its interactive start screen with informative app tiles. Nokia Lumia 930 is the true flagship, with all the features needed for a smartphone which can at least substitute your PC/Lappy or DSLR at the time of need. Love my Lumia 930! My Lumia 930 is just 5 days old n the way my phone gets heated up while playing games online or offline really bothers me. The battery gets fully drained in 5 hours with 3g.I have no other complaints. Is it normal with this phone or should I go for a replacement?

Networks in India for 4G (TDD) are different than what most of the world uses , so currently most of the mobiles do not support 4G in India. However Airtel is launching 4g based on FDD in india (FDD is supported by mostly all 4G international mobiles including 930) in 6 circles by end of this year and ultimately expand to 16 cirlces in India. If you live in these 6 states - Mumbai, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal you will enjoy 4G on Lumia 930 by end of this year otherwise you have to wait another year for Airtel to expand to other circles.

Freedom means a lot to me. A system-wide file manager, USB OTG, MicroSD card expansion are nothing but elements of freedom. I can't sacrifice my freedom even for that giant 20MP beauty. Sorry Lumia 930.

Lumia 930 is better. No bug, there is no lag. Battery hold 24 hours with all functions activated. Sony acts like any device with android operating system. Android gobble up batteries. Need to know what you want to do with a smartphone. You decide only if one of these meets your demands. Amoled creates perfect images and black is black. In addition there are many other pro 930. I have 930 from April and do not see anything better yet. I hope this has helped.

To Enable Cortana in non supporting regions. 1- Change region to US (United States), it will ask for restart. 2- Restart. 3- Enable Location. 4- Go Application page, Cortana will be there.

I don't know. Have you tried set region and language US English? In my country Cortana isn't available, but when I change region and language it is available. Note that you have to restart phone 2 times, one when you change region (restart now option) and once again when you change language. Hope this will work

Go to settings, swipe left and you see apps settings. Choose Cortana and you can find there an option to activate her.

I am also in KSA, cortana is working on my mobile excellently, first you have to train cortana, than it will work and turn on screen automatically by saying HEY CORTANA. Training cortana first time is tough though, find a quite place and train it through your normal voice.

Previous weekend I've switched from my 1020 to a 930. The 1020 had been dropped, result: crack in the glass and bad microphone quality. Advantages of the 930: - very solid build, feeld incredibly solid, this phone would probably have survived the 40 cm fall that cracked the 1020 - much faster - the camera is x3 faster. This is a major disadvantage of the 1020, a powerful but VERY slow camera - you can group the tiles, this isn't possible with the 1020 - longer battery life disadvantages of the 930: - a little bit heavier - I miss the glimp screen, which continuously shows time, date, and if you have received any messages or other items. This however draws on the battery.

Will the 930 still be able to come to the U.S. market place as an unlocked U.S. version possibly in Gold Limited Edition? The U.S. does not have a Lumia high end WP anymore since Verizon discontinued the Icon in September 2014! I don't understand why Microsoft just ignores the U.S. market; since it their homeland. It just crazy marketing strategy not to have the 930 be in the U.S. market. Who would of thought that they would give up on the U.S. marketr still again on the high end? Remember Windows Mobile in early 2005 when they had 55% market share in the U.S? And then they gave up when Blackberry came in and then Apple iPhone in 2007! Microsoft had WP7 in 2009!
