Have no D830 and not allowed to touch my gf's D830 but does Samsung I have had. There is a service code that opens up service menues. For instance sound and volume master settings. Do Google service codes for d830 and u might find get the code and how to insert it. Hopefully I will have my own d830 hopefully sooner than later.

Hi D830 users d830 seems to be a pocketfriendly phone. Want one myself for phonecalls and SMS, but I would also want some mp3s on it. for entertainment. Is it possible to use it with a 16GB microSDHC or is 8, 4 or 2 GB max size for memory card with d830? Love this slim phone since I was allowed to make a call with my gf d830.

I like it's slim, i'm not uncomfortable with the keyboard, it just took me time to get use to it, about the volume, well i always use the vibrator so i don't really have a problem, but it's truth that it get's very slow with the pictures, so i barely use the cam. In general i think it is a good phone, it does what it was meant to do from the begining, and i like the style, it looks elegant.

I've had this phone (the red one) for about 2years now. The graphics are quite impressive, the camera too. I also love how slim it is. Sadly, my phone's microphone got broken in less than two months after I bought it, so I had to use loudspeaker everytime someone calls me. The paint also peels after a year or so, but that's not surprising considering that I'm a little careless with it. What really ticked me was that my phone's battery life wouldn't last for a single day unless I charged it overnight, which is dangerous. The battery was like this even when it was still brand new, I thought it would improve after a few days, or weeks even, but it didn't.

a very reliable phone with great options that will satisfy ur needs. nice display colors ,nice designe, slim, and its made of metal(light though) :) i have it for 2 years now...BUT...low volum clear sound though, short life battry and the keybad is not for messages people. overall its a good phone

the default the password of samsung phones are 8 zeros (00000000), i believe. however, if you changed it then i think you have to ask for some expertise's advice alreadt. :)

good phone but it has some problems:- 1- low sound volume. 2- Battary lasts for only 2 days 3- hard to open the shell ( u need ur both hands to open it ) and i dropped it alot when trying to open 4- phone keys are not comfortable to use and some times u need to press the key more than one time to respond ( avoid to buy if u writing messages alot)

Volume is pretty weak on the phone. Vibrate and Tones will not play at the same time. Battery life lasts about 2 days, 3 days at most. Installing Java games via USB or MicroSD card was a problem until recently. If you would like to install games, use the following code on your phone: *#9998*javainstall# . Use the numbers instead of the letters. It will give you a confirmation that says "Activated" which enables Java installations. Use the code again to turn off Java installs.

I agree with an opinion that it has more drawbacks than advantages since it is really inconvenient to open it (you have to use both hands) and difficult to type on its keypad. Moreover, its sound is low even if u make max volume and signal (i.e. antenna) capability is not strong enough against Nokia's. It is just polished toy and nothing more!!!

The keypad is not smooth. sometimes need more force for the key impression, 3. The sound is toooooo low...Loudspeaker is good for nothing. 4. Menu navigation is not easy. For example to add a new entry to the contacts you need to answer a lot of question.

Hi can someone please help me ? Is the external display on the SGHD830 supposed to show the time,date,signal and battery strength at all times ? Mine doesnt and will only display for a few seconds when switching on or fliping open/closed :( Surely it should be on at all times otherwise this defeats the purpose of an external display? Also can you have the themed display like on the D900 that shows Big Ben when in UK and Eifell tower when in France etc along with clouds during day and nightsky during night hours? I cant seem to find the option on mine :( I dont know if mine is faulty or not and whether to exchange based on the above questions ? I dont think the keypad is as bad as everyone makes out. I dont think it will be a problem for me :)

I really wouldnt advise anyone to buy this phone if you text alot, the key pad is so aggrivating and every word has to be typed a few times as it doesnt pick up what your pressing. Also It can be awkward to open and I dropped it alot because of this when I first got it. The camera is ok but goes blury if you move at all.

Um? It cant last that long. I dropped my D830 in water i got it out like 20 seconds later and opened it the screen was still on then it flickered off so i put it in the sun to dry out an it works fine again

Had this phone for a year and its tuff as they come been dropped about 20 times still working fine. I finally got so sick of the sound i took it apart and turned around the speaker and made some fine holes for the sound to come through and have not missed a call yet and mp3's are much louder when its closed. Its perfect now.

Hi, I am a proud owner of this phone. Yeah, there are a lot of problem with this phone, but the worst of all is the Speaker problem. Anyone out there who know any place or how i can fix the speaker so it can sound louder? Please post a link. Ive had the phone for a while now..and it sucks. I got it because it looked great. The ringtones are so low that in a noisy environment u can barely hear it. The keyboard is hard to get used to at first..but after a while its ok. the biggest problem is the reception, its simply terrible..and the phone needs to be charged often. This was by far the worse phone i had, now i got the n95 and it is just amazing.

I like samsung's mobiles.And at this time im still using d830.I used Prviously x700,D820..what i need in mobile..Camera must should be Exellent.sound must should be Good in handfree.Not should be in normal phone's speaker (its not good for office).. And I must need Record conversation...and Full screen movie play..D820 has record conversation in durring call option... But d830 has not appear option for record conversation..but we can easily do like that..after durring call press option menu, application,Voice record and press i button..or press option 2,3,2,i...all other comany's mobile that have record conversation .they will bust give a beep after 5 or 20 second like se nokia..and caller can hear that beep and must know abt ur recording...D830 has Great LCD and Camera.. And has great sound and u can do everything after play the music .cause media player can hide by press back button.. I like d830 2.it can play full screen movie play.. when u play movie just press 1 key.And samsung has a great security for ur personal sms and files . it can lock by a password.. not in other company's mobiles.. @sambo:symbian applications work only on symbian, otherwise they wouldn't be SYMBIAN applications. @sos:download Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and amplify the music. @ashraf:Why the hell do you need a screensaver if it's a clamshell cellphone, for god sakes.... yes, the only problem is that it has no flash, so you cannot take pictures in the dark, but if there's daylight the pictures are perfect. @weejammer:"Also no vibration + Ringtone at the same time. A little anoying but I can live with it." - i do have this feature. firmware upgrade. @d830 owner - i bought the cell phone in december, so it was a lot on a temperature near 0 degrees celsius- it NEVER turned off from itself.

hi, it's thin and small mobile. but, i think it has lot of disabilities.such,t's mp3 sound quality is worst than nokia 1110.it also don't have nice wallpaper and no sceensaver. camera is ok. samsung should provide a flash ligh for camera as well as signal light. for these reason i critisize samsung company for their misery.they want's to make money by giving people a small advantages. I love this handset since the day i got it. I do however have a few problems with it. I can't fast forward a movie in any bigger increments. This means if I have converted a movie to fit on the phone thats 2 hours long. If I stop it i have to hold my finger down for a very long time just to see the end. Also no vibration + Ringtone at the same time. A little anoying but I can live with it. I am also looking for a firmware update that might fix these issues To : esstrea (please put your email in so people can send you messages) The D830 like most samsungs wont install any java applications via USB file transfer or Bluetooth (this phone just does not have the installer). Had the D830 delivered on tuesday 24th .. and its gone back already !!! Its rubbish .. its close to a brick in size and has no buttons .. so texting ( with 2 hands ) is a nightmare. When replying to a text you have to KEEP asking for predictive text as the phone WILL NOT default to it. There are 2 games in the memory THATS IT !!!! If you've small hands this is not the phone for you .. DON'T DO IT !!!!!

And speaking about messages I write about 800-900 sms per month and I don't complain. Got used to the keypad in about 2 months of using the phone. There are 3 major minuses: 1)Sound, I can't hear it in the street 2)Battery works 2 or 3 days 3)If it gets a little bit colder it just turns of (never had this problem with nokia) The good side of it, that it is very slim and I can keep it in any pocket I want. The quality is the best i ever seen. It is fast. Display is also well made. Camera is also good.

I have had this phone for a few days now and the main issue's with it are: Battery life below par. Housing marks easy. No vibrate/ring at the same time.(Flashing firmware can fix this) Plus side is the phone looks and feels great i.e(well made) beside the negatives im cool with the phone, people complain about the keypad but you get use too it. tho I admit heavy text'ers should think twice before buying.

A big no!!. I purchased it falling for the sleek design and returned it the very next day. The loudspeaker quality is very very bad!!!!!! Your ears pain because of the screeching sound that it produces when the phone is on loudspeaker. a big no if you use the load speaker facility often. Not worth the bick bucks you pay for this.

I have just got the red D830, the battery life is long even though I play mp3 through R35 bluetooth stereo earphone for 2 hours and occasional telephone calls a day, it left 30% battery life. Remember the battery is small and the battery life is above my expectation. The touch of the keypad still acceptable. No regret of using it. I love it espeially the red one

Yeah the thinner the phone, the shorter the battery life. I recently bought the SGH-X820, the thin bar phone. Definately would have to recharge every night on regular use. Just buy an extra battery. Buy it for it's style and uniqueness, not it's bettery life.

i think the phone is perfect.......perfect sape..quite slim.easy to put in the pocket widout any burden. But i think the only problem wid this phon is tht its batttery lasts for a very short period of time,it does not supppport themes and no extra tone can be set up for message....

Hi, all i have just bought this phone accidently. I found it to be great one except thast battery is a issue. You have recharge it every day, specially if oyu play song or use camera. Rest indeed a great phone. Cheers!

Yeah, the buttons were hard to press when I first got it, then I got used to it too. I like this phone a lot, it's a major upgrade from my Nokia 3595. However, the only complaints I have about it is that the battery life lasts about 2 or 3 days at most. Also, the phone reception is worst than my old 3595.

Yeah, I've had the same problem with the alarm being too shocking too. I've had the same problem with you, you can't set an MP3 into the Downloaded or Favorites folder. The only files that you can put in there that your alarm will recognize are MIDI files. This is the only way you can add alarm tones without using the default.

The D830 is ok... Would anyone know what type of file is supported for the Alarm? From the Alarm Alert options you can choose from your Downloaded Sounds. I have .amr files in this folde but it will not allow me to set it as an Alarm Alert, and the default ones are shocking and I mean shocking, I prefer my alarm to wake me up a little more pleasantly... even my old E700 had one that wasnt too bad. But I was hoping that I can at least use an .MP3, but I am not able to save any in this folder. Any pointers?

To get oled to stay on go to settings then light settings then show cover indicators and turn that on There is no way to directly save videos and pics to memory card How do you get apps and games? i surfed a little bit and found the answer on a samsung forum. if you want mp3-s to be ringtones, you take an mp3, cut it so that it is max 30 seconds long and max 300kb big. it should work then, haven't tried it yet, i'm in a hurry . cee ya!

1. the cell phone is just too damn cool! 2. the camera is ok, pictures and movies ok, but the sound quality on the movies is not so good , but hey, you can't have it all ;) the phone is easy to snap and it's not made of plastic , at least not all of it, the back is of metal. i transfered mp3s on the phone right away, very easy, just drag'n'drop to the music folder. now, i didn't figure out how to set mp3s as ringtones, maybe i have to copy the music to the ringtones folder. i got the phone for like 15hrs. the battery reloading took like 1h45mins ;)

hi guys, i bought the phone today, and it's awesome! even got the data cable in the package ;) the buttons are ok, you just have to get the feeling for them really soft, don't have to press too hard. camera cool, pictures awesome, but the movies quality is not that good. sound loudness is ok i think, not as loud as on sony ericssons, but you will be able to hear it. if you got any questions, feel free to ask ;)

You can change background colour by Menu- Settings-Display settings-Skin you can choose black or white some carriers may disable this option im not sure crimson you have to go through applications then music player than add music when in player press the read phone button and it exits all the stuff you are in and goes to front screen [b]btw when in the player go to settings then music player override then turn it on[/b] and you can turn shutter sound off you have sounds 1-5 then "none" as a selection as well

@ Dan & azzu: Where's the Exit All, I don't have that. Only Options and Back. No 'Exit All' in Options and if I select Back, it would exit out of the music player. Playing mp3's while lid is closed? Yes. :) For the camera shutter sound, it only allows me to scroll from Sounds 1 through 5, no way to turn it off, even with the phone on Silent Mode; as is the case with some SE phones.

I had this phone for a few days on trial from my network provided. Nice looking phone, but couldn't get on with the flat key pad kept pressing the wrong buttons. Its going back!

If you want music in background you have to go menu>applications>music player then select a song and exit all music will still be playing until you press exit with nothing on the screen the phone feels great in your hand the perfect weight perfect width it no that big not bulky like razr yes you can say razr is bulky compaired to this phone not sure about the data stuff sorry yes the backlight and keypad light turns off when charging and so does external screen backlight even though you cat still see it because its oled pixels emit there own light you can see on external name of caller not sure about number ill check that later and yes you can either mute call or cancel call with volume keys you change that in settings also if you want proper battery info dial *#9998*228# and you can go down and see milliamp reading temperature of the battery charging info such as time and power input and see what milliamp reading unitl the battey bar goes down from full charge to 2 bars is about 50% battery left very use-ful you know the little bar on the battey the plastic bit thats where all the sensors for all this are want more info just post ill check back everyday

i have some questions about d830, im an x660 user, so these questions are justified:D first, how does it feel in the palm, its seems pretty big, as its lenght is 103 and width 54 mm?so i guess there is no 95kb limit on incoming/outgoing data?i mean pictures and mp3 tones?and if it charges, does its backlight go off when the phone is turned off?im sure its external display shows the number/name of an incoming call, but is it possible to turn off the ringing or hang up with the volume keys(without opening the phone)? thanks

Hey all i just got it yesterday its very solid and small keypad has the slightest bit of tactile so its actulay ok to use battery is ok charge it every one and a half days listening to mp3's alot uses alot of power mp3's on loudspeaker isnt very loud outside screen i very handy without using much power it has one speaker above the screen that does it all note: peoplesay there are 2 speakers but the grid on the bottom is for when you close the phone sound fom the top speaker gets redirected in that bottom grid and out the 3 holes on the back and but end

I have owned a samsung for about 2 and a half years now and i love it. Its very comfortable,doesn't cause me any problems and isn't too fragile. With phones I actually have only prefered nokia in every way,these days most nokia' are too much like computers and get very slow. I have seen this samsung it is very slim,the slimest flip open phone in the world !! So i would think it has reason to be slightly wide,iv held it,its very comfortable a bit wide but fine and the key pad is so cool. i love this phone so much! the keypad, yes at first, is a bit !%&$$%... but after 2-3 days, its better than everything else's keypads! you can use the music player, with your headset thou the phone is close. the sound is like, you are sorrounded with speakers... but yes, itas thru theat the speakers aren't as loud as Nokia and SE... the resolution - wow!!! 10 out of 10!!! a pretty perfect phone!!!

It IS thin but too long and wide for women, especially those of asian build. (No offense, I'm asian as well :p ) Hey, anyone know how to turn off camera shutter sound..? It can be quite annoying at times. Which leads me to the camera - captures in glorious 2MP, provided you keep a steady hand. ;) It takes pictures in a vertical position, factor in the thinness, the pushing motion when pressing the button to take pics, etc..You get the idea. As you may have probably read a hundred times, keypad is flat. Didn't have any problems texting / navigating though. Weird... =) User interface is another thing, though; not as friendly as Nokia's or SE's... One thing (maybe the ONLY thing) I like about this phone is the screen. Big and VERY vibrant colors...Yum~ Like the display here more than the K800's ^_^

Hey guys! i bought this phone almost a week ago in Egypt! here are some answers: -it has no radio -it lasts 2 days of average use -no flash (which may be good for the batt), but it has a autofocus which is good. -i don't think u can buy a better batt cuz it's a thin phone n there is a cover over the batt. But overall the phone is amazing guys!! i love it, it's nice looking with amazing graphics and software. i got a 1 GB memory card to put as much music as i want but it's slow when loads from the card, that sucks. 1 last thing, i wish it's battery lasted longer.

Ok first things first... Stop complaining about the Keypad!!! i just got this phone, and yes the keypad is... well different. Its not how hard you press on it, it HOW and WHERE you press it. Note that i am not even a Samsung fan. My previous phone was a K750i. This fone is beautiful and its not too wide at all. i love flips, actually my previous fone was my first non-flip ever. i HATED and still HATE the RAZR. Just too wide. and man it was Fugly. Also the top was shorter than the bottom wen opened. and that rim? looks like a fat person sat on it and it got flat and too wide. Why it was so popular i will never know. The D830 is amazing. features are great overall. I will say honestly though its not for heavy texters. Also the camera settings takes a while to get use to. Otherwise it is beautiful.And mostly made of titatnium!!! TITANIUM!!!! Motorola made good phones like about 5 yrs ago. Now there're just rubbish, i was a former owner of 2. Never had a Nokia because everone had one. And now my first samsung. i am delighted. Is there someway to make love with this fun? maybe there is slot somewhere? Anyways. hope what i said helped. Oh and everyone is asking me about it. or wants to hold it...

Hi! About some popular Samsung mobile phones: X820 : It gets easily warm while you are talking with, the lens(2Mp) and the sensor(CMOS) is the same as D600 but picture quality is not as good as D600. Besides battery performance is very poor. The TFT screen is very good but D820/D830/D600/E900�s are better. D820/D830 : High quality constructions and the screens are amazing. But battery performans are poor (especially D820). Picture quality is not so good (indoors photos are very bad, because of lack of flash) E900 : Touchsensitive control pad is very nice(especially in the dark) Poor battery performans, picture quality is not as good as D600. D820 has better slider mechanism than E900. D600 : Very good screen/battery performance/picture quality. But the lens get easily dirty and be damaged because it has no lens cover. I used Nokia: 3210, 6510, 6600, 6230i, 6630, 6681 SE: K700, K750i Panasonic: VS6 Samsung: D500, D600, D820, E900

If the phone is like any other samsung. To view the date/time on the front LCD screen. Just press and hold one of the side buttons for about 3 seconds. The lcd should light up. (not the camera shortcut button)

Hi I have just got a D830. Can anybody tell me if they have the same problem. When I activate the phone. The screen becomes brighter as it should but i get a buzzing noise through the mouth piece microphone. It is not a problem when making a call, but when i am texting its there all the time until I'm finished. When the screen goes back to rest mode it stops. Don't want to take it back to the shop [25miles] if they all do it. Regards John S

ok...ringing and vibrate...there is 3 options...1st ringing only...2nd vibrate only..3rd vibrate then ringing...for the last option...it will vibrate a few times..then start ringing contineuesly untill the call gets picked up or gets disconnected....it does not vibrate anymore form the call.....there is NO flash at all...do u see a flash at all in the pics

it vibrates and rings yes this is true .the main problem with this phone ( only 2 problems actually ) the keypad is very sensitive in some areas and in other areas you need to press hard which makes your fingers hurts and i mean it .especially the top left select button ,the dial pad is ok it is sensitive enough but still not that comfy .the other problem is the callers list my wife called me 9 times ( on a casual day ) the phone will show you 9 times the number from that contact ,so if you want to look for annother number in the callers list you have to keep on scrolling down forever ,the silly part is that it shows you a number of times that number called you ,then why you list it 9 times since you already wrote 9 next to the number ??? that was the most annoying part in this phone .back to the key issue ,is when you try to take a snapshot since it is sensitive and when you press hard the phone shakes and the picture is not that clear so you have to get real relax and press on the take photo key . but in general i enjoy it .

@Denny Samsung fones wont open SE picture as the picture has a slightly bigger resolution than that of samsung.SE takes picture in 1632x1224 whereas samsung takes picture in 1600x1200.But this is applicable only for SE with autofocus cameras as the new SE dont have autofocus and therefor takes pictures in 1600x1200 and will be able to be displayed on samsung fones

this phone is quite okay...buttons are super sensitive if you touch it at the correct spot... camera is what u would expect from a 2mp... lcd is superb...ringtunes are soft..even with a loud mp3 file...the only bad thing i can say is that i would expect is that it is unable to put mp3s as a message ring tone... other than the soft volume, sucky battery, presets message tunes and impossible to press buttons...its an okay phone

I saw this Phone in Malaysia recently. Beautiful and elegent, But look at it it is trying to be like Motorola V3, V3i. I think it is a copy cat. Keyboard in good for ladies only. Screen is great, Camera is berilliant but it just does not have the style of V3i. some how I take it as Lexus trying to be Mercedes Benz S Class.. Overal It is a great item but lacks the branding and also style.

I got it today and its a nice/slim phone. I can recomend it to all clamshell lovers. It looks a little toyish after using v3, but its lighter and slimmer than that. Yes the heavy sms users will be bugged by the keypad, othervise its a 9/10 star phone. The missing star is a quetion for me, which is: The external do not show time/date constantly (not always, just after a few sec or minute u close the lid) is there a fix or i have to open the lid to see the time/date everytime???

After reading all the comments, I really changed my mind about it, eventhough, i really liked the way it felt in my hand, and loved the way the phone looks, but hey i have D600, so I guess i'll hold on to it for now, if it wasn't of the comments i read, i would have prolly got it by now, sorry samsung, still love ya though :)

hey i just bought this fone 2days ago. well im not surprised about the keypads and all the negative side, cz i know every phone has its ugly side. anyhow i like its sleek design and the graphics. but wen i take pictures, i wonder why it wouldnt capture the perfect moment. it seems blurry or i dont know maybe its my hand. but then i love the unit sooo sleek and it has a dramatic effect if you use it. i know every company wouldnt make a perfect unit, its their strategy cz if they do, ppl wont change fones anymore! hehe.

hey sarah! tnx for the review. i was thinking of buying this phone thinking that samsung might have improve their features. but i think i was wrong. i am also a former nokia user who switched to samsung coz of the design and great tft screen. if you did not mention the model number, i would have thought that you are talking about all samsung phones in general coz i also have exact complaint about my samsung phone and to think this is an old model, that means samsung don't seems to listen to other people's commnent. it seems i will just have to wait for nokia's n75 for my next phone. hope it does will not cost me an arm and a leg.

The design of this phone is great, it looks fantastic and the fact that its only 9.9mm thick is really impressive. However, i have just started using one and im struggling. Part of this could be that i have always been a fan of nokias and their styling and menus. This phone is most definitely NOT for anyone that sends text messages frequently. In my opinion it isn't as diverse as the nokia 6230i, when you compare the two handsets their features look similar but the nokia has a lot of nicer little extras, like changing the phones colour theme (the samsung only offers black or white). The samsungs text messaging font is huge on the smallest setting, something which i personally hate. When you dial a number the digits are so big that a basic phone number doesnt fit on one line - it looks sloppy. The keytones are loud, childish and irritating. More importantly for me, the ringing volume for an incoming call is dire. On full volume (level 7) I can barely hear the phone when it's in my pocket. Should you wish to upload your own mp3 ringtone the sound is even quieter, I've missed three phonecalls because of it today already. The 2 megapixel camera has complicated settings, and is practically incapable of taking a good picture indoors in artificial lighting. It is extrmely difficult to get it to take a clear picture, the slightest little movement and the image is ruined. It is also very slow to open and browse through images. The keypad takes a lot of effort to use, you have to concentrate hard on what youre pressing and how hard youre pressing it because the keys don't click, theyre touchpad style. This is a nice idea in theory but its extremely impractical when youre trying to dial a phone number quickly and it ends up entering the same number 3 times because youve pressed the key a little too hard. You cant alter the sensitivity. The screen is great, the graphics are good, the music player is nice and the video recorder is also of a high quality. As far as i am concerned samsung have created a professional looking phone with extremely bulky and childish features, if you are someone that relies on your phone for all day every day use i strongly suggest you look for something else. Sorry samsung!

@Kal The font size feature you are referring to, ONLY changes the size of dialed numbers. Menu fonts remain way too large, and ugly as ever. Only 3 contacts can be viewed at a time. Many menu items cant even fit on the screen, and have to scroll by slowly... but, before you get to the end of the line, the screen switches off! Theis phone's software is still very rough around the edges.

I have tried to plug-in TV-out cable from P850, Tv-out cable from E900 to TV/DVD/amplifier, it can give high quality hi-fi sound as well as high quality picture ( full screeen for mpeg 4 file with resolution 240 X 320 ), I am sure this phone can give the same output performance as the two phones

As far as I know, this phone did not have a bult-in flash, and this phone cannot vibrate and ring at the same time. Keypad is also one of the concern due to the slimless design of the phone. Those heavy sending SMS is not recommended. However, the size of dial number can be changed to different size as the menu is the same as E900

@del well I didnt know that you got it as upgrade and had no choice. Not sure which phone you had before. I dont have this phone and might not buy it either, but reading the reviews and others comments I came to know that this model is not a good option for everyone.That was my point. For you a phone has to function properly irrespective of it's look. and then there are people who goes for looks first and they can compromise on the functionality...Razr is not a great phone if you think of that, but 50m people has it.Thats a good example I believe. For you D900 is a good upgdare not D830. Anyways hope you can find a better upgrade soon. Cheers!

@Rene Lindsay A Samaung QVGA 320x240 screen not only sounds good it looks graet as well.This is the fisrt time i head of something like this. Change your font size to smaller one so that you can read more. I can see that you can change font/size/color in the manula here. Cheers.

WHAT A WASTE OF SPACE! Good looks, good camera, but crap software. The 320x240 screen sounds great in theory, but the rediculously large and ugly dos-like Fonts more than cancel out the benefits. The contacts list barely displays 3 items at a time! My PocketPC's contact list displays 15 items, on a screen with the SAME resolution! Also, the flat keypad is frustrating to use, since you cant feel the keys, and it often takes several stabs, to find the right spot to press. I want my money back!

Regarding the keypad of this mobile, as the thickness is just 9.9 mm, it is hard to install a better keypad. Besides, the phone has large 2.3 inch LCD screen and it is amazing. It can play wma which implies smaller memory size and more sonys to choose. For the slimness of this mobile, something has to scarifice, but in return it brings other benefits. I am sure I prefer this phone than the slider D900 even though many guys had bought this flagship.

Youre so right I may get this phone or the samsung z400 when I have saved up some money. Top be honest any phone relased today is brillliant. As a few years ago you would never of had a phone with a camera and a video recorder. Ok so the camera may not be as good as another camera but who cares along as the phone can take pcitures and record videos whicgh is marvellous. And it has games on it the features on it will be really good. Why does everyone have to criticise it. It's got a bloody 2 mega pizxel camera thats amazing to have on a phone. It doesnt have a dedicated camera button on the side..that means you have to open the flip and take a pic...the front display is tiny, so it would help in self protrait. Red colour my least favourite I don't like red no wouldn't choose that colour. Silver hmm bit plain may make the phone look more boring hmm not too sure. Probably not the best choice. Black now I like that it gives it a nice edge and yeah could get that colour. Blue I really like that the shade of blue is really nice it's a nice light colour. May get that my favourite one just narrowly ahead of the black colour. What colour has everyone else got and is the blue nicer then the black. Is black a colour where you would say hmm everyone has had that colour. Also still unsure of the design from the back and I thought it would b way slimmer then the RAZR but it's not really. I may consider getting the Z400 instead as that design is still nice but it is only �170.00 and will be cheaper.

Having looked at all the different colours on the live photo. I now quite like the front of it it does look plain but nice it took a while to like. But then when it flips open it does have a similarity to the RAZR. But I think the samsung one is nicer as it is thinner bu still is quite long. The only bit I dn't like is the back of it. It doesn't look nice from the back as it looks wide and fat haha. Hmm but from the front I do now like it. Anyone else like the design or is unsure of the design?

Thankyou very much Kal for those pictures of the phones. It really helped make my decision because they are live photos. Hmm it has kind of put me of I think the design at the front when the phone is closed isn't that nice as I thought. It is quite wide and long. Hmm still unsure I don't know about having the camera button right at the top hmm still unsure. I think it's best if I go into an actual shop and have proper play with it then make myy final decision.

The 830 is plasticy and cheap looking, I also hate it cos it does not connect to my bluetooth headset and no PC connection cables were supplied. It's also not very easy to open. Motorola much nicer phone.

Got my D830 two days ago and it is a GREAT mobile. MUCH slimmer than V3i and higher specification. Guys like DEL either i) do not know to appreciate good phones ii) never actually bought the damn thing and they are just anti-Samsung. Hey DEL what is your IMEI number on your D830?

Oh and buy the way I have just compared this phone to the Motorola V3. The D830 weights 85 g as the motorola weights 95g. This phone maybe little taller then the RAZR but the D830 is no way near as wide as the RAZR. So the Samsung phone style is much better and much slimmer,. People need their eyes testing if they think the RAZR is smaller compared t this phone.

Samsung will always be better then Motorola. This design is far better and smaller then the RAZR and looks more stylish. The Motorola colours look more tacky these colours give the phone an eleegant aora to the phone. Stop complaining about it. The only drawbacks is the batterylife and the keypads but that isn't life-threatening and people should eb able to live with that. If your battery life goes quickly all you have to do is charge every couple nights not a major thing you must do. Just take the charger with you if your staying at a mates or out not too much of a problem. I say people should buy this phone top quality well done Samsung.

I have had my new D830 for one day and I can definitely say that it is the worst phone I have ever used. I hate it so much I want to throw it out the window! Everything about it is either difficult to use. I find the keypad especially unresponsive. I am now returning my 830 to try to get a much better phone. I luv'd my old V3.

do not bother about ring and vibrate simultaneously because SAMSUNG is SAMSUNG and they do not want to make any unpractical functions. Maybe they are offering it to samsung d820, D900 and etc. but the good news is that you can vibrate then ring your message alert withouy affecting your ring alert as well as it has a repetition mode for your message alert by 1 to 2 minutes intervals. As long as you can use your downloaded songs as a caller ringtone, ringtone and alarm tone, well that would be fine.

This phone is nothing like the V3. doesn't even resemble it in the slightest. It looks much cooler in real life (This Photo doesn't give it justice) I was surprised on how thin it was.and how well built (titanium I think) Had mine a couple of weeks now and I love it. The key pad is a little trick though, Wish it had been more like the D900 keypad...(I can live with it though) every one of my friends awe over this phone, Sexy and neat... I would have given it 10 out of 10 if it had not been for the keypad and the Battery life (I got 2 days with moderate use) but I can live with both issuse.. 9 out of 10

i finally saw this phone on display at the mall. it's awesome. was able to tinker it. too bad it does not have an external screen. And as to who came out with the first thin phone, panasonic and samsung ,i believe, were the first to come out with thin phone before motorola, but motorola design made it possible to have more features and bigger screen and they were the first one to place the antenna below the phone which everyone is doing nowadays including samsung and nokia. by the way, am not a moto fan. :)

a phone with a good design but poor software is still a piece of rubbish, which is the problem with alot of Motorola phones. My friends with moto's (V3, v620, v220...) are always complaining about how their phone turns off or on at its own will...not to mention some of the other software problems that come with it. The truth is, the newest Samsung phones are always released in Korea and are often superior. The ones you get in other parts of the world are second-class handsets compared to Korea (usually). So by the time the Moto RAZR came out there were already designs of that type by Samsung. Nokias are alright because they're reliable but their design is boring. I'd go with Samsung anyday. Wouldn't ever buy a Motorola unless they shape up and stop releasing RAZR style phones and put some effort in designing something new!! Don't see any breakthroughs there.

Picked this phone up yesterday sim free �289 I've very well built, Made of Titanium metal i think, Feels nice in the hand and the pocket. Extreamlt Thin, suprised me how thin it was...it's actualy thiner than the Motorola SLVR L7, witch is a bar type.. The menues are exactley the same as the E900, The D900 menues are slightly diforent... The only draw back I can see is the key pad. Its even wors than the D800 was. Too flat. Not very responcive, I supose I will get used to it in time, The Cetral Menue directunal buttns are also of the flat type, The whole key arangment is as one, I strugle with it, But there again I do have fat fingers.. Good phone, Exelant Build, Good Looking. Shame about the KeyPad

trz3, Nokia are not necessarily better. Lately Nokia's new models are so ugly and heavy. Especially the Nokia 6280 which is extremely prone to screen breakage. Just because a phone sells more does not make it better. Samsung are high quality and it really depends what you are looking for. I used to love Nokia back in the days of my trust old 3310, but in the new camera phone/colour phone world, Samsung are streets ahead of Nokia, especially design wise. Nokia's are just too bulky. mr nokia , Nokia phones are definately better in all measure. Only Samsung sales will say the "good things"(ALL THE GIMMICK) about how good their Samsung phones are!

@the unknown This is wider as the rectent trande is in korea..wide but thin. It sure has a better screen QVGA 204x320 compared to moto's V3i with 176x220. The reason that it has a small grayscle externall screen is mainly to cut down the bettery use. Thats save some money as well. But dont expect this to be cheap. Samsung UNLOCKED phones ..when released are expensive because of the retailers. The main selling point for this model is, its 9.9mm and a calmshell..no one has such thin Clamshell in the market now. But wait for one month or two and the price will be less than half. If you get samsung basic phone with new contracts sometimes it comes free in US or europe..sometime even amazon gives you $100 for buying it along with contracts. So it all depeneds on deal and time. I agree it doesnt look like Samsung is looking to make cheap phones. They are into realeasing phones that are damn good is design...they are into making records...thinnest phone..8GB phone..10mp phone...they are not competeting with nokia or motorola on that.

i just saw the x830 and found it to be quite wide and this model is even wider. it's even wider than motorola's razr v3i by 1mm if the spec are correct. you have to have big hands to use this phone, i think. :) Another thing, someone posted an opinion saying that samsung is not to keen on having a second external screen on its clampshell. i think this has to do more with trying to cut the price of its phone so as to stay competitve not because they are no longer interested in haveing an external screen. Samsung phones are quite expensive. even their supposed mid or lo range phone, if you call it that way. Example is x150, it is supposed to be simple clampshell phone but it is still more expensive than other phones which have more features compared to x150. Samsung will never be number 1 in the cellphone market cause they don't really have a low end phone in the market today, low end phones comprise majority of the cell phones being sold today that's why nokia is number 1.

nowadays samsung has lost its market there was a time when samsung hit the market when they released r220 c100 and even x100 was a hit but after that they jsut dont improve their features they stick with the same features in every mobile phone even if you see d500 you can see the same menu functions which were in c100!!!!!!!!!!! c mon samsung improve your phones and now samsung has started copying lg phones !!!!!!!yeh sure one bigeest problem no vibration with ring uhhhh

My Motorola phone does have 1000 entry capabilities. Not sure what you are calling a new phone. I notice that battery size wasn't called out. Usually that means it sucks!

1000 entries is standard..do you know any model that has more that that. I think you should go to Motorola forum and ask them to do something about it, coz they are the one who comes up with new models that has 100-500 entries only.

@Clamshell This is not a 3g phone..live with it. 3g phones are not that thin yet..is there anyone making think 3g phones????. there is a whole z series for that and those are thinner than any other brand.have a look. @i love this It clearly shows there are 3 different varient for this model..not just red. and plz stopd complaing about speaker phone. There are few things that samsing phones missing. and I have noticed some nokia-SE fans always try to point that out wihtout reading other posts. Samsung is not bothered about it...frankly..otherwsie they would have added it. This is a milestone for Samsung and I'm happy to see a clamsheel so thin still wiht most of the features.

well these days all phones are begineing to look the same and specs i think this ones a nice phone except you will be hearing to many phones with 2 mega pixs and millions colours and i bet a phone will be able to transform it slef in to a car who really needs all them features when half the nation wont actally use the dam things a phones a phone

HHm i absolutely droll 4 this phone... it has just everything. If you want better battery buy another phone who is souch an important businessman here? you can charge it after 3 4 days. On the other hand sam should of thought of it and should put 2 batteries one thinner an one bigger. you would chose every time the thinner one belive me. I think that is a great idea and sam shoud read this posts. i hope it comes soon because is a great phone.. also e770. sam auto focus is very bad the pictures wont come out good just make them at lower resolution trust me.

Being a tech geek, i do research on all the tech stuff from all sources, from reviews and magazins and papers and press launches for that product itself... Now, i must be honest to you all that the phone's design is very subjective to everyone as everyone has their own liking and i respect that...Samsung mentioned that they are tired of the outer display being colorful and all the pastel colors and big screen, they decided to go classic style...monocrom wordings and simple text line enough to let u know if ya have a msg and missed call/voice call... the thickness is the prime of its kind as no any other phone is slimmer than this and the weight of it is awesome. u have to feel it to know wat i'm saying as its so thin, u sometimes wont know tat its in ya pocket...fragile? Nope, its as sturdy as it looks...outer mono display means longer battery life, true but it doesn make tat much a diff...a 2hours max calling time and a few text here and there...boy u need to charge the baby again if u wana pull through the day not missing out calls or text...battery life now is the weakness of all phones and brands...as long as its colored screen and camera, man ya juice runs out fast... screen display are crisps and high pixelated, very detailed and fine...ringing tone is as good as there's stereo system which let out awesome music sounds.... 3G is not in, tats a downer, no Wifi which also makes it sad as its supposed to be considered one of the futuristic phone for samsung...oh if u guys dint know, this baby rings and vibrates at the same time...unlike the old sam phones tat vibrates then ring or ring then vib...now they finally keep up with the trend... the rest are more or less basic samsung stuff, blue tooth same old same old, ringing tone same old same old...design wise for the key pad is very flat and some might just find it a bit weird typing on it if its the first time using flat key pads...but its damn flat and cool as its like ipod kinda feel....its a classic look overall and it potrays business man or classy cool look whenever u flip it out in public,head turner i'd say... pictures taken are clear and crisps as well, 2MP, aint tat bad...memory wise is quite ok, cant complain much as there's external card slot..oh the internal screen back ground color is black so its cool and sleek as not many phone uses black as backgroud color...if u dont like it? u can change it...tats the beauty of samsung...wall papers does fine with it, mp3, midi.... well tats tat, anything just post it up and i'd try my best to help u out!! Ho Ho Ho!!

even thinner... whot is the point.. the phone will be more expansive, and well b more fragile. i rather C a phone that has a btr battary life and i can count on. in holland the everich phone goes allang 8 months becouse brand cant make a good phone, only nokia made 1 (3310-3330) why doenst any brand try to do that again. �'m not imprest by this absolutly not i think its a joke!

Fantastic! Nokia, this is how you should design phones: sleek and elegant. Not like the 6131 which is not a well thought out clam shell design compared to this beauty. I only hope they have taken out those silly ringtones and give us more regular ones.
