Yes, but they're Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. models that can call and text, but internet and other things that will not work outside certain countries. If you do find a model that works, it'll probably not work.

I love Nokia N76. Its design is very good for me. The brightness of its internal is very good, 240 x 320 pixel 2,4 inch and its 24 bit color TFT internal display. The external display is useful too, colorful, can read incoming text messages. It can give a sound when open and close its flip, i like it. The features are good too, GPRS and EDGE, both of them in class 32, UMTS support, Symbian S60 v.3, Java MIDP 2.0, etc. I would say Nokia N76 is a very good flip phone. :-)

i loved this fone so much...i think is a very reliable fone. because i has used many times, never gives me problem as i've update every months... any fone is good as long as you look after and update it all the times will gives ur fone best service and safe... fone always needs service, update...if not update it will corrupts and damage files and it will give your fone errors all the time...that is why not all fones are working properly.

LOl,the phone is quite fragile (the mirror/screen broke after one fall). the silver lining begins to rip after some time... however it does have good qualities; the music player allows you to organise your tracks, the volume and the sound quality is awesome!!! Taking photos... they look very good and the apps and other general stuff work properly. oh! it freezes and restarts ahg, what a turn down.

A good phone. Appearance is satisfactory except for the fact that the glass cover in front is so fragile(I broke mine). So hard to find spare part replacements. Applications are fast!

just update ur phone firmware, i.e phone software, it'l be ok,. just connect ur mobile to PC by means of data cable, open the PC suit, run update phone software and follow the instructions

If you have a rebooting problem, try upgrading to latest firmware. It worked for me mostly. Really great phone. A succesor with more features would be very cool!

Im using Nokia N76, so far the problem is when theres too many SMS received and frequent use of the phone, it'll auto-restart and the battery life isn't that good but I love this phone. I love it because its very fast to use. Opening applications is fast and quite elegant phone.

had this phone for 18months upgraded due to wanting a different type of phone, was going to give it to my bf to use becasue his phone had died, went to plug it into the charger one night and it wouldnt charge or stay charged. was a brillant phone shame it didnt last longer. only problems i really had with it was the silver paint would fall off or get easily scratched.. and the front panel cracked easy aswell. loved it would recommend it to anyone who was willing to protect it with a leather case or a form of casing to protect the silver

yeah just trade my n73 with a n76 its good the font could make it smaller nt like the n73 you cant and there is a usb slot in the n76 and could use any headset too and read the messsage in the small screen.. put music easier no more bluetooth only usb

Hi, my n76 encountered a problem lately, it's keypad light is no longer lighting up, and what's worse, it's impossible to txt anything because it's like grounded or something. when i press the #4 for example, either the cancel button or the end call button kicks in which pretty much doesnt allow me to txt. is anybody else having this problem? if you can, please help me. This phone to me is the closet all in one sexy phone... Being an ardent lover of nokia mobiles, I opted to buy N76 model. But its features was not satisfactory. I give my real experiences on this phone. 1) Aesthetics: I purchased this model in Sept 2007. Within few months the polished surface on the front and rear of the phone started peeling off giving an ugly look. 2) Functioning: The three buttons provided in the front are too sensitive such that it operates even with a minor touch, but the phone keys are not durable and one of the key fell off (even with sparingly usage). Moreover the system is unable to handle simple files and it gets hanged very often. This happens while browsing internet or listening to music. During this time, the on/off key does not work and the system is fully inactive. We have to remove the battery and reinstall each time in order to switch-on the mobile. 3) Battery Life: Very Very Poor. Even with a very limited usage (say 5 calls per day with a duration of 3-4 minutes per call), the battery is completely drained. Therefore recharging is must atleast twice a day, if we use for long hours. 4) SMS: Messaging is not easy since the number mode does not appear. We really lose temper when we want to type numbers in the message. recently the display unit also got problems and the screen is black. But one thing I noted is that my phone has fallen from my hands on few occassions and nothing happened due to its durability. So one has to think twice before selecting this model.

My mom currently uses this phone; it's been in service to her for a year and she's more than satisfied about its quality. The onscreen images are clear (its camera isn't at all high-quality, though good enough for a camera phone that's not at all meant to be used as a digital camera), the audio quality is great (way better than that of the N73 Music Edition), and Internet is fast enough for straight-on web browsing. The fonts are commendable as well for their clarity, thanks to the new edition of Symbian that comes with this phone. True enough, the phone is merely PAINTED, and the silvery coating does chip off to reveal the cheap-looking white material with which the phone is built; however, contrary to what most user say in here it does not do so immediately. The phone is sturdy enough for normal usage, this one I would definitely want to stress. With proper treatment, this phone lasts as long as it should, so long as it is never dropped and cared for very well. A phone that is always placed inside a soft container and never directly inside a messy bag hardly ever gets hurt, and my mom has proven just that by doing exactly as said to her phone. For that reason her N76 lives on with hardly any problems at all. I would definitely recommend this phone to people who love to appear stylish without sacrificing the functionality of their gadgets.

Wouldn't recommend this phone.. the silver peeled off pretty much straight away. Also it's really easy to bump the play button by accident and it'll start playing a song (embarassing). The first time I dropped it the front screen smashed.. but i kept on using it. It has finally died (after a year and a half) and I will never buy another nokia flip phone again!

Mine started peeling within a year of buying it but the customer service center replaced it without charge, they said they knew there was a problem and replaced it. The replacement cover is still fine after another year of use. Is there a successor to this phone? really liked using it but i dropped it and cracked the front cover mirror screen, is that replaceable?

I dont know why everyone is saying that the chrome started peeling on in a month. Ive had mine for a year and the chrome is peeling only becuase I droped my phone a couple times and peeled the chrome off when the plastic came off on top of it. I droped it after having if for about a week and it still works fine. Its the best phone that Ive used, I only use Nokia.

The only fake Nokia down here, that I know of has a touch screen and is out of china. (note you can also get a genuine one out of china). One has been for sale on Trade Me, and sold admitting it is a fake, he unwittingly bought, be fore he knew. I have three N76 phones. All genuine One damaged I got for spares. Chrome peeling. The first one out of gemany did not last 4wks before the chrome started to come off. This phone has now started to drop calls. And will be not used again, except parts. The last one I am now using, but it has a crack on the mirror glass (external) and yes it has chrome coming off. As I understand it Nokia did replace covers under warranty, somewhere in the world. None of my phones are under any warranty claims, I am just a bit shocked that Nokia have not been that co-operative in getting these parts fo me. Nokia Careline? That is a Bloody Joke. The N76 has been a good phone and I have liked using it

One of the best phones I have had, I have dropped it multiple times, wet it and the only problem I have had after updating the software and having the headset plugged in is it voice dials by itself, this happened for a couple of weeks then nothing for months and it started again for a day, I have reset settings but it still happened. The paint does come off and i'm missing one key from when it got wet. I have had it for a year and would buy another, also it's a 2 hand flip.

Most smart sofwares are not made for this phone except flashy theme and wallpapers. It's just not made very well. When you hold it, it doesn't feel as robust as most other Nokia phone. yes, the paint comes off, same as almost all phones these days. however, for me the really annoying problem is that when the phone rings and i pick it up, the call disconnects as soon as my hand touches the phone. At first i thought this was just coincidence, or i had touched the wrong button, but over the year i've had it, it just keeps happening. Must be some kind of short circuit in the cover.

Nokia N76 well I own one, but not sure I would buy another. I have had it only a few months and the chrome is looking sick, peeling badly. classy piece of junk. Not a phone I want to be seen using in public anymore. This phone has no back up here in NZ. So I cannot get a new case. I have no other problem and would like to stay with Nokia. but not if this is the standard they are working to. It is in the same class as the V series Motorola 5 out of 10. Not good for a fairly costly phone. Shame on Nokia. My Sharp gx30i was a better phone! I have complained to Nokia, but have yet to talk to anybody in New Zealand, only Malasia. They just tell me to send it back to the counrty of origin, to have it fixed. Why can I not buy a new case? I have owned 30 plus Nokias over the years, then found a clamshell by Sharp, that served me well and stayed with them until I found the N76, but looks like I may be going back to Sharp, they were very good phones all round, and generaly lasted longer than any of the Nokias. Hey I am rough on phones, but expect them to perform, Climbing trees or out in the boat. I have not had many phones that have lasted over 12mths. But if it is my fault it gets broken, I do not complain, just move on. The V3 was one of worst phones I have ever owned. dust got into this phone with-in 6weeks and the screen was already hard to see in daylight. Nokias menue and dictionery are top of the line. Battery is not that great, but this is a clamshell and does not have the space for a larger Battery, like a slide phone. Bloody shame the very poor quality case lets down the N76, ( I would of thought Nokia would of solved this by now, how hard can it be?) which otherwise seems to be a very good phone, so far When they start to look rough I get a new one. But have buried them, dropped them when clearing the trailer at the Tip, found them after dropping them and they have then been run over. broken a lot of cases when they get dropped. seen them go belly up when salt water flows over them, watched as petrol has melted the case on more than one phone. And a few I cannot account for. The N76 rocks, please Nokia make a new case that is of a standard that suits the phone.

I purchased this phone a year ago and i was so bummed that a couple of days ago it got water damage and all that comes up when i turn it on the screen is all blue and works normally but it still works fine lol. The only reason that the N76's speaker is not so good is because the handset is not made for listening music on top volume but just so you the user can hear it so 1 good tip put it on top volume and then just 1 level lower that helps a lot. The silwer which is peeling off, is covered under warrenty if there is no physical damage on the handset. In other words this is an excellent phone and i will recomend it to anyone.

Crystal, actually all hand phones have different ability and people will have likes and dislikes on hand phones. It common to have negative comments but I think that this hand phone is quite good. It just that the silver thing peels off easily and the loudspeaker problems. But to someone that post choose other hand phones, I forbid that. after having the firmware upgraded.. my phone will always show an error msg of Insert simcard or simcard registration failed.. it doesn't do that before..?? do you guys also experience the same thing.. version 2.0 upgrade has an ugly font.. wish i could change it, but all in all.. the phone became much faster!

I have my n76 now for about 11 months. Whoever complains about the price doesn't know what they're talking about. Best buy for it's price. Symbian OS rocks! I love multi-tasking. Seeing as this is a music phone with dedicated music keys, it only makes sense for the music player to always run in the background. The best feature of the n76 for me is the ablity to copy and paste text. The only bad thing about this phone is its 'loudspeaker'. The max volume is quite soft and the equalizer is useless! Have anyone heard the max volume of a nokia 6234? Twice as loud as that of a n76! Does anyone perhaps know of a way to tune the loudspeaker? I know that it's possible on older samsungs. If u pushed in *#8999*8378# it opened up a menu to check software versions, test vibration and tune the loudspeaker to be twice as loud as it was originally.

I agree with you. Nokia needs start putting quality material in their phones.I remember N73 is actually made of cheap plastic. I think Nokia should stick to BAR phones. They also need to learn from Samsung how to make a good SLIDER. And maybe learns something from Motorola Razr2 V8/V9 on how to put on quality metal instead of cheap plastics they use on most N Series. Nokia should also cut down on the number phones they announced.They are the only company who release 2 - 3 version of the same phone.Not to metion reuse names (6600 Slide/Fold)

I would like to give due credit to nokia n76. I am sincerely very happy with the phone speed. It's very fast! Operations are executed in an instant. Not even th n95 is that good in terms of speed. Even if I have so many files stored in my phone it isn't slow by any means. Also, wen my friends borrow my phone. They go like "wow it's really fast". they are amazed because they are not used to nseries being the fast one. Very good phone. And audio quality kicks butt!

I'm using n76 now. In the review, it says 26mb only of phone memory. That's an error. When I go to memory details. This is what the indicator shows me. Memory in use- 9759 kb (that's roughly 9.7mb) free memory- 28mb see? that's a total 37 mb of phone memory.

estefanie: yeah it peels.. but when it has peeled you can easily replace the covers, the class A ones do not peel quickly, I'm not saying they are better looking, they just don't peel quickly. Of course I'd help you out, What are your priorities in cellphone use?

what kind of acting up? mine is acting up too.. Say when you press the left selection key the multimedia menu opens up.. and many more as if the functions of the keys were swapped and mixed and matched... It's kinda irritating when that happens...When that happens I just press down the numbers and sliede the whole keypad plate up and down and left and right. Then it starts working ok again.. But that's not a permanent solution, since the keypad will start acting up whenever... How bout u?

you're comparing the sound quality of n76 to a sony walkman? don't you know that n81 has far better sound quality than any walkman phone? and don't you know that n91 is better in sound quality tha n81. so the difference in sound quality between n91 and all walkman phones is so huge, n91 is miles ahead than any other phones when it comes to sound quality. the only music players that can challenge n91's sound quality are samsung innov8, and creative zen mp3 players! you should bow to the king of music phones-the almighty nokia n91! you're n76 is just a slave of n91.

The chrome paint on mine peeled, I took it back to Nokia and they completley re-did the phone and acknowledgd the problem. They did say there was a problem and had a kit of better quality to replace it.

The phone's functionality is quite impressive for it's price, but the skin (colour) peels. My jet-black 4n's silver area has completely peeled off, and its now black and white. I haven't had any probs with the phone. I've been using it since 2007 May.

I have the black n76.. using it for quite some time now.. The color doesn't peel off on mine.. Uhm, the camera isn't impressive though.. I'm using it as a replacement for my stolen n73.. planning to get n82 soon. About n76.. music through loudspeakers has really very good sound quality but it isn't loud. But this one you gotta believe me.. Through the 3.5 mm jack the sound quality of n76 is the best! it's even better than n81 or n91. The sound quality offers really sonic music experience if you plug in a good set of earphones. The sound quality kick butt! better than n81 or n91. I swear, it has the best sound quality on a nokia mobile phone. It could match the sony walkman.

But I heard it's been phased out in the Philippines and that's sad because if I were to buy another phone, it's gotta be N76 again, only this time it'd be red (mine is black). well i this phone has everything: 3G network, Edge, Cool Music player, 369 Mhz CPU. And the software if you don't have it installed, you can download an install. As I'm a fan of Motorola v3, when I first time saw the phone I liked it, then when I came to know the features, I bought the phone. But after starting to use it I become hopeless on nokia. This phone is built really cheap quality. Peeling off the color is very common, mine looks like a cheap Chinese phone. The other problem is keypad, when navigational keys some time the clear or ok button gets pressed. 369 Mhz CPU but no speed, during navigating through any list if up or down pressed too quickly it kicks out from the application and bring it self on desktop. I never used any phone this slow. I thought these are software problem. Flashed couple time to update new softwares but nothing solves this. I don't know why a phone that has so many functionalities but the basics are not its place.

If you care well for your phone the chrome won't peel off and the colour won't fade. you MUST place it in a case because you will have troubles.

yes, u have to install in ur pc a software that converts mpeg to 3gp or mp4 formats (nokia pc suite cd). just connect ur fon to the computer and copy it into ur memory card and browse it using ur video player.

im not that really huge fan of Nokia but i've fallen in love instantly with this phone, not with the design, but the audio output-- Man! this phone surely beats my old Motorola ROKR and SEZ710 to the ground. However, i do find that N76 is the most fragile phone i've ever had. I accidentally dropped it once and it went totally dead, and i had about 2 weeks to get it repaired. The design is cool, but i do have experienced some disappointments on the flip, Motorola is still the best in flip phones. So for you audio freak out there, this phone can be the one for you, but BEWARE of the fragile body

The phone is pleasing to the eye and it's very user-friendly. The internet browser is fast and the mouse-feature is very useful. The musicplayer holds many features and has a very good sound quality. A big plus is that you can use your own headphones without the need of an 3.5mm audioadapter. However, the phone gets very easily "soiled" with fingerprints and the batterylife is average.

To Inessa: Yes you have the option to have the fone say the caller's name when you get a call. I have been using this fone exactly a year now (got it last summer) and I have to say it's a good fone with its ups and downs. Pros: -like other Nseries I really like the lifeblog which with my laptop's bluetooth I can put up pics online really quick. -Music on this fone is really nice too, especially you are able to manage the music player with the fone closed. And also it has a jack for you to listen your music with your own earfones. -the mirror, when the outside screen is not on its a mirror. I can't remember how many times girl ask me for my fone to use the mirror =) Cons: -like others have said, this fone despite it has a 'classy' look, with close inspection its kinda look like its made with cheap plastic/material. The silver 'chrome' wears off over time and you can see the white basing underneath. And it can wear off with just putting in the pocket with keys/coins. Over the course of the year I have dropped my the fone numerous (like when getting off the car), and although its still working, the casing can easily fall apart at times and you can see how the shell is just a snap on. -Camera, it's only 2 mega pixels and no auto focus, BUT, I have great success taking pictures when using the 2 second timer which achieves the same effect. Or you just need a steady hand. Overall this is a really good fone I will recommend for light-medium usage users and a great gift for a girl friend(black for guys, red for girls or other way?). Mirror is very useful and the overal look of the fone is just an eye candy.

to vlow jayver the 6120 was a succesful hit due to the compact size of an s60 mobile phone this phone was my favorite of all s60 mobile phones(compared to 6110 and n76) the 6110 however is a gps device rolled with a cell phone and a digicam.But due to it's design it looks like a rich and a promising phone. However the last phone the n76 has the most beautiful and enrichful design and the phone with the most highest feature due to its cover display.However has a bad name due to it's chrome peeling problem.However if you take care of this problem then it will be solved. Actually these phones express who you really are... for example 6120-for people who liked it simple but needs a smart phone. 6110-for people who is always on the go.Looks rich and promising n76-These phone is for people who takes fashion for an answer. So its up to you currently it's the n76 that im using but if I we're you 6120 is the right choice. But both the n76 and the 6120 moves at the same speed.

To vlow jayver The 6120 was already tested and man it works great....... but I'm so excited about the 6210... It's stylish,cute and hey a 3.2 MP camera... These phone is equip with s60(which I love) but.... -6120 has a more cheaper and affordable price -6210 according to it's features might be more expensive -both has a 16 million color screen QVGA -6120 has a 2 inch screen (But cute) -6210 has a bigger screen 2.4 inches -6120 is used for people who wants a monoblock design and for just normal people and who wants to enjoy the s60 but does'nt afford the N series phones or the more expensive ones. -6210 is used for people who likes a slide phone but likes traveling around. -6120 has a 2.0 MP camera but it shoots great in nice lighting conditions -6210 has a 3.2 MP camera though not tested it still looks good (I think) So this report might help you but if you are a normal person but can't afford an expensive one go for 6120 but if you can afford this but who likes travelling around go for 6210.

In case you dropped it.... 3.Hello wrist band..... For more security before someone steals you're precious phone... and for dropping 4.NEVER EVER USE A CRYSTAL INCASE those sharp edges might scratch the chrome 5.Buy a screen protector... Before anyone scratches the beautiful mirror or your screen 6.STILL DONT EVER USE YOUR NAILS ,JUST YOUR FINGERS 7.always wipe it with a nice cloth (don't use wet cloth) 8.When flipping it closed try to aid it with your hands. 9.Don't hold it if you're hand is sweaty or if your hand is wet There that's what I did with the n76 and still it looks brand new.Hope these tips will help you.Gonna sell it for a month or so...HAHAHA!!!!!!!!

They both have good bass and good clarity but the 5700 produces a more louder bass but the clarity is'nt (WHOAH!!!! It's so clear) well it's clear for the default equalizer while in full boost it's not, to be honest I do like the 5700's speakers far better than n76's if you know how to set your equalizer.But if you listen more using your earphones then it's the n76

But hey as long you love listening to the speakers well go for the 5700.But in headset compatibility the n76 is the right choice.Both can be packed with 2GB.But if I we're you I would choose the n76 because of the cover display and more music functionalility considering the media key and the volume keys as scrolling keys for the cover display which is good and the display is used as a viewfinder.My n76 is about a month old which is good the experiment with the chrome peeling is still positive looks brand new except for the fingerprints though.The 5700 in the other hand has some problem it's the twisting thing don't try to play with it or you'll break it but it is still considered durable in my terms,HAHA but the joystick is'nt that comfortable to use (I use my nails to scroll it up rather than my fingers)But it does have a more powerful speaker but only 2.5mm jack.(Why did nokia do that after calling it music phone?!)But to be honest they should put all the future Xpress music with 3.5mm jack rather than the 2.5mm. Yah.... if the chrome does'nt peel off well it would be one of the greatest N-series.It performs great it moves and process faster than the mighty n95....Maybe we can find a way to stop the peeling... Some people told me even if you take good care of it,it still peels but how....?is it true my n76 is still two weeks old and still no sign of aging yet...

Nice review below my post. I like the n76 more. It's better in music since it's got a 3.5 mm jack and better audio quality through the headset. Don't care about the mono speaker as we normally play music through the headset. The speaker is just an alternative. Overall, n76 is the better performer (than 5700) since it's got larger screen, more elaborate UI (rotating gallery, search plugin, etc.), and microsdhc support. The only letdown and turn off is its poor construction and materials.

I am Ellis a former Nokia Xpress music collector I've been collceting the nokia Xpress music first generation for two years (5200,5300 and the 5700) after the 5700 I changed my phone into the N76..... as I got these phone I compared it with the old symbian bro the 5700 Xpress music they are really the same in UI the only differences are the camera interface and the rotating Nseries gallery. In camera terms they both have a two megapixel with LED flash but -the n76 has a red eye reduction, a light sensitivity function and other shooting mode -the 5700 in other terms has a more stunning shot at night compared to the n76 but I'm not saying its the best but it's still satisfactory In music terms they do have dedicated music keys and up to 2 gig memory card mic SD a five band equalizer -the n76 has a standard 3.5 mm auio port for your iPod earphones and of course if you hava a JBL why not.....The cover display gives you easy scrolling to your music without flipping your phone but.... -The 5700 has a more agressive speaker (I always used it in the bathroom HEHE),a twisting design that can bring out the dedicated music keys, but in the negative side it only has a 2.5mm audio port too bad... Okay now for the screen display both fones have a 16.7 million qvga screen yup 16.7 million...... -The n76 adds more personalization with the cover display and its also good use for fashion statement it can be used as a mirror.And a huge bright 2.4 main display for your viewing pleasure. -The 5700 houses a good 2.2 display its also bright.The 2.2 display really looks big for the 5700. As foe the keypad they're pretty fighting it out -The n76 has a very flat keypad it is really hard to get it used to but there time to practice.But in dark environments it lights up pretty well I bought the red one one so the outine of the keypads is Red while the numbers and letters are with light blue or aqua maybe.But I really like the miltimedia button it's pretty cool when you press it.As for the dedicated music keys they are orange when you bought the red one blue for the black one. -The 5700 has a nice grip while texting but what I really hate is the joystick it's pretty hard to move around they should have used navigation keys rather than skimpy little joystick.But the keypads are great they are very responsive and lights up at white in dark environments even the dedicated music keys lights up in white. Okay nowfor the looks just like we humans we judge the book by it's cover let's see if the inside really is good than its cover -the complaints about the n76 is the silver thing.You now the chrome that we used for our cars bling like that.Well I also had a friend with an N76 a black one after a month I noticed it turning white.So maybe it is proven (my n76 was just bought this week) I am still conducting an experiment if it reall is true for now I will still say it's proven.My experiment is I will take care of the phone with a pouch and a piece of cloth.It might take a month or two.But the deisgn of the nokia N76 is for some business people or fashionista,but it does'nt really attract young teens full of music but it really is sexy and stunning like seeing mariah carey or some sexy people you know about,but I don't know about the quality yet so stay tuned.Now for the design it mostly made out of chrome and glass which is kinda luxury style you know what I'm saying but what we really hate is the shape the Mother F###in shape and size first of all its big for a clamshell and why is it so square why not give it a little shape for a cause the keypad is so flat but well it looks great but it's pretty hard to press but it performs pretty well.As for the cover it is a mirror a performer and a view finder. -The 5700 has a white plastic with a red rubber trimming or a black rubber trimming.Simmilar with the other Nokia Xpress music family.Smart move by Nokia Because it is also used as a grip really effective.It kinda really looks like the old 6600 but really slimmed down and a different keypad arrangement.The downpoint is the dedicated music keys sucks really it's so freaking huge compared to the other keypads and the dedicated camera kay is at the play button and the camera is at the side.but it is targetting young people with love for music. For now this is the review I can give you but it's your choice n76 or 5700 but they are really both close to each other they have also the same processor and UI kinda looks the same.It's like fat and thin HAHA!!! Well time for me to go..... bye I hope these wwill help you to buy your next month

I really liked the phone, but along with the others the chrome starts to peel off. I had the black on and it looked really bad once the half of the front and the side chrome was peeling off. Other than that it had everything from style to function. oh yea, occasionally the music player will come on due to the buttons being accidentally pressed while in my pocket. To those interested in the phone i would rec that you stay away. Unless use the clear plastic case or the nokia pouch that comes with the phone, it should delay the chrome from peeling.

the chrome is the biggest problem.. it just peels off easily and youre stuck with a somewhat "new/old" phone. updating the firmware though removes its software flaws like phone hanging..

my n76 was a pretty good phone for the month that it lasted then it jsut stopped working the hinges got loose the screen flickered and my paint peeled in the first week . now im paying it off when it doesnt turn on not a good buy

this phone is the best, may not hav a 3.15mega pixel camrea like the N93i but its way beter looking, nice and thin. has all the featrues it needs, really good internet. and downloading, the speakers could have being a little beter, but not all phones a prefect, iv had my for 6 months no pint peeling at all, the ones that conplain about it, your phone is not bullet proof, if you drop it and that, its going to peel.look after it and its fine....

firstly theres no such thing as the perfect phone but the n76 is the closest you will ever come. i`ve had mine for 8 months now and i love it!!!!!!!! sadly i have to admit the chrome peels off after about 5 months, depending on how you treat it! im going to try the nokia care centre for a free recoat! besides the short battery life, rebooting itself, and the chrome peeling off. this would be the perfect phone!!!

i love this phone!i found a really2 great solution for those silver parts peeling off! make sure u bought this phone bnew or with nokia care warranty.my phone started peeling off after a couple of months.i brought it in the nokia care store and they will replace all the silver or chrome parts free of charge! all of it! as long as it is covered with the warranty.u can hav it changed free of charge everytime the silver part peels of!once,twice,thrice. again and again..remember..nokia care center.just use your warranty guys.hope this could be of help.:)

not happy jan. i got it, 3 weeks later sim stopped working, NOKIA gave me a red handset back and its just got all these design flaws. 1. you stick headset in, you can't open the phone the whole way. whats up with that?? 2. there's is no way to open it without the chrome peeling off, just makes the phone look cheap! 3. when texting or pushing buttons, it seems that only thin fingered ladies can use it properly NOKIA has made better phones. N76 is not worthy of the N Series brand.

This is really a great phone. I only found 3 problems in the 5 months that i have had it now. The first is that the chrome litterly peeled of within the first month. I now have a black and white phone, second, if there is to much stuff going on it reboots itself and third, the keys are not nice for typing. The screen size and its 16M display is exellent! Very nice phone.

well, i think n76 is a great phone to use. although the chrome does peel off, i think its just a matter of how you take care of it. i bought my phone last yr and i only had to change the chrome 2 times.(take note that i had only little pieces of chrome peeled off you wont even notice it i just dont want my fone looking bad) but hey if you guys think it sucks, we're all entitled to our own opinions right?:)

elegant?? no way! the red unit of this cellphone chips of paint after a few weeks! while the first batch of n76's chrome thats supposed to be "gold plated" chips off after a few days! definitely a design flaw! nokia should concentrate on their quality control.. instead of releasing a new model each month, they should at least carefully design each and every one of their units!

To Priyay: Go for N76. Its much better looking. Extremely fast and responsive. Standard jack. Now also with an A2DP bluetooth profile. All this in a stunning package. Build quality is wonderful. And you get a better keypad - big and quite a pleasure to use if you are a typo. And hey, don't worry about the peeling problem. Its fixed. But still, get a good soft leather cover. Or use the cover supplied with the phone. Its good too. Cheers! I hope your doubt it solved.

yes,i purchased nokiaN76(black) about 6 months back from dubai & absolutely it's great mobile, but to my shock the cover with silver finish is fading out, & layers fine plastic coating coming out, which totally changes the beauty of mobile. i simply wasted huge amount on it.

I have had this phone for nearly 6 months now and the only thing that it has done wrong is a little peeling on the silver part but still not very noticable anyway. The phone is pretty tough...I drop it and chuck it constantly on all different surfaces and the phone is still going strong

what i like about my n76 (black): -its slim & light -its elegant -its black -its a flip-top -the call voice feature (that guy's voice you hear telling you who is calling) -cover sound personalization.. where you can assign a music/wav tone when u open or close the cover.. -no need to bring a mirror, because it has its own mirror -the pictures from the cam are good,you can also shrink its size for smaller bite storage -its waaaay better than motorzr! -the batteries last for a long time..when you dont use the music a lot! hehe:) -the speakers are also good.. its loud enough to be heard.. what i hate bout it: -headset plug-in is out of place.. when youre talking to somebody using a headset you cannot fully open the cover, thus, it'll be difficult to do other things on your phone while on call using the headset.. -its not very user-friendly compared to other nokia phones.. -it hangs most of the time.. suddenly shuts down without any reason then after a while just turns on by itself. -the silver parts peel-off easily -i dont think it has a function on the contacts where you can change which contact to view, whether the sim or phone contacts. -it slips my hands easily... i havent dropped it yet though =) so its up to you! whether you'll gonna like it or not.. atleast now you have an overview of what to expect with this phone.. as for me, i like it! i just really have to be careful not to drop it..and as for the "hang" problem, there's always nokia customer centers to fix it.. as long as its under warranty there's no problem about it.. but when my warranty expires,well that's another story,depending on how much they'll gonna charge me! LOLz! let's stay connected! NOKIA ^.^

Ive just bought this fone....pretty awesome despite a few flaws..however....its really nice to use being a nokia.... i see people complaining alot about the removable of the silver paint work ont he case...ive just bought a plastic crystal case to protect the body....its working ok so far so i do reccomend getting one..they are only a few quid on ebay....keeps ur fone looking like new....and get those screen protectors aswell.... One question though?? is tomtom 6 able to work on this fone (it always says expired certificate.... and also whats the max max mem card capacity the fone can take without crashing or being unstable??? thanks guys!!!

this is a very thin phone. very nice to use. i like it. the battery also last very long time. the colour of the phone is very fantastic. i've had this phone for about 6 months i have no problems with it. i think i'll recommend this phone to anyone thinking of changing to N-series. I've had this phone for a few months now, and i highly recommend. No peeling that i can spot. Some little things that might interest you: the glowing button pad is light sensitive, the display screen when closed turns into an awesome mirror, you can read messages in the small display, and you can totally rearrange the menu and folders to suit you. i never get sick of this phone.

For those of you who say the battery life on this sucks, I have to disagree. I first bought this phone last September and on first getting it, I charged the handset for the full 16 hours. With minimal use, I only need to charge my battery every 3 days and on the occassions when I use it heavily, I need to charge every other day. As for the problem when connecting to the PC, you need to chnage to profile to General, (it says so in the manual) Also, having had my phone since Sept, my phone has hardly any peeling of the chrome! Yeh, the camera is the lamest I've seen and the sound is poor.. But that's not the reason why I bought this phone. I bought it cus I wanted a slim flip smartphone and thats what I got. Hello, My girlfriend has just bought the phone. She loves it. I like it too. It is very stylish. For those who complain about the camera ... do you think you bought an SLR camera ... sheesh. As far as the menus go, its not limited to the N76. I have the N95 8G and it has the same menu system. Seems to be a Nokia standard design. I do agree they aren't very user friendly, not like the famous Nokia User Friendliness of past designs. Shes dropped it a million times on concrete with only just visible scratches. Connecting to the computer ... not one issue, if you have get your PC looked at, its never the phones no matter what brand. Transmitting data to and from the phone - flawless I actually never had an issue with any nokia

I had a Motorola V3X which I really liked but it was stolen. So when I read the features of the N76 it seemed like the next progression adding more functionality. I wanted a better camera and was pleased to read that it could be operated without opening the fliptop. I like the idea of Office synchronization. It was when I started to use the phone that the frustration began. I am computer engineer and far from being a technophobe. I admire good design with intuitive menus. The Nokia N76 has one of the worst interfaces I have ever encountered. One of the first big disappointments was the camera. It has too many settings that require working thru the nested menu system to set in order to achieve reasonable pictures in all but perfect conditions so the fact that you could shoot with out opening the flip top was redundant. The button to take the picture was recessed and not easy to use anyway. I also found accessing the pictures you took cumbersome. I liked the rotational picture display but it was the only redeeming feature. It seemed everything you want to do on the N76 takes multiple menu option selections. I tried to see about customizing the menu and making short cuts but it was not at all intuitive and I gave up. Connecting to the PC was hit and miss. Should just work but sometimes it simply would not recognize the phone. Loading up music and clips was awkward and cumbersome. The phone comes with the CD�s of software but there was very little I found useful. I only had the phone for two weeks before I swapped with the girl friend but I just remember one frustration after another. I was on the verge of breaking it so switching to the girl friends Sony Ericsson was the best option. Her phone was a bit cumbersome as it included a full querty keyboard and touch screen. I quickly got used to these and it has changed my whole outlook on what I want in a phone. The girl friend also hated the N76 and kept asking me when I would buy another and give her back hers. Today I purchased a Sony Ericsson P1i and so far I am loving it. It has all the features the N76 but its much more intuitive and just works. Connecting to the PC was easy and office synchronization works perfectly. I was able to easily customize the front menu to include direct links to the thinks I want (something I could not work out how to do with the N76) I have uploaded some MP3s but have yet to upload any video clips. Since getting the N76 I have only met two other people with them and both are not really happy with the phone. I don�t recommend it to anyone.

By the way, for those who complain about the peeling and random shutoffs, you've been gipped. Those phones were manufactured in China and therefore less than the quality you'd expect. I can say from experience because I previously bought a Nokia 7370 Amour collection and it came from China - outerwear quickly wore off. My friend got the same phone in Hong Kong (manufactured in Taiwan) and she hasn't had any problem with it at all.

I love this phone because of its GREAT internal and external memory SD that comes with it. I can put music on it and the sound quality is awesome. The problem is you can't completely flip open the phone when you plug in the headphones because it'll get stuck with the earphones. Other than that, I didn't find the peeling a problem because I bought a hard case for it while I was in Asia. You can go onto the Nokia site to register its manufacture number so that it'll be covered by NokiaCare. Other than that, I absolutely love the phone and its resolution is quite superb.

Will a phone bought from Singapore (that is UNLocked and UNbranded) work ANYWHERE in the WORLD? Will the phone language and the keypad keys be in English? This phone has great features no doubt! Easy to use, Navigate, Quick Response, Never Lags, Battery life is good. But i think NOKIA failed w/ the casing! the casing is so cheaply done the silver coating chips off and tears off rily fast! I guess NOKIA dint have time to think of the right material to use for the casing or then again this might be a marketing strategy for them for you to purchase a replacement housing for the case to add more sales! :(

I bought Nokia N76 two mont back now it's body cover got totally damaged. I bought it from abroad so here in India they are not giving warranty. Checked with Nokia care and they asked me to pay us$ 32. saying that this is manufacturing defect. I am a user of nokia phones from last 6years and in never expected this kind of bad manufacturing from NOKIA..Really very very bad. I read lots of the comments here, in fact after I ordered the phone, and as you can imagine I got 'a bit' worried. However I bought the phone because of two things - its good looks and its functions and I think it's the best one that combines these two in such a nice way. I have the cell phone for almost a month now and I haven't noticed any of the problems mentioned here. It's still beautiful and it works perfectly. My phone is produced in Europe and I suppose this is the main reason for it quality. So, i think what should be said here is not "don't buy this phone at all", but "buy it only if it's produced at the right place". Of course there are things that I don't like about it and the main two are: 1) it's incredibly hard to open it's back cover to change the battery of the SIM and it's supposed to be a lady's phone, so... please... and 2) the front display is kind of useless if you don't use your mobile as a mp3 player, like me - it does hardy offer any other functionality. So... that's it :)! Buy it if you dare :)! I bought it and I don't regret it :)

Don't buy, you will be disappointed. Not only because of the chrome peeling but because of the serious functional problems. You can not fix those by software updates or using of phone more carefully. Do not do the same mistake what others has done. It is time for Lessons Learnt.

I got it 6 month ago and everything seems OK except the paint ... the silver paint sux ... it started to came off like one month after i bought it and now the phone is particularly white (below the silver paint). I'd rather like it to be without the silver paint .. this way at least it will be one color... I think it look good without the silver paint, just black and white...

This phone looks very good when you unwrap it. Silver paint on sides starts peeling after a couple of months whereupon it looks really ugly!The software does not always recognise incoming calls to match them to names in your address book resulting in you not being notified that the incoming call is actually from someone in your address book! Battery life acceptable, phone is neat sized with good MP3 output sound.Good keyboard layout and feel.Pity about the paint and software!!!

This is the worst phone I have owned in nine years. Yes it' supposedly all singing all dancing but it is incredably un user friendly and does not deliver as it is under powered. No 1, the loudspeaker volume is so low you stuggle to hear anyone without ramming it into your ear. No 2 The battery life is more than a day meaning you have to lug around a charger. No 3 without a degree in Nokia engineering it is very hard to carry out simple functions, ie without using a shortcut key, trying to put the phone on silent you have to go into four submenus! I have not had a big problem with the chrome peeling but really it is a complete letdown. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS

Not a phone I'd recommend to others. Hangs frequently (much too often actually) and we are often unable to hear the caller. Have to re-set the phone frequently due to the frequent hanging. As I'm typing this, my phone is hanged. Will be getting rid of it later today.

I had a nokia 6260 since spring 2005. Now I think to make an upgrade to N76, but after all I read on this forum I must reconsider that. Nokia 6260 has also pelling off problem, but this is the only drawback I notice in almost 3 years of use. The software working great and, overall, it is a smart-phone that addict me. Now, after reading all the comment I think I'll be sorrow if I change my old an reliable 6260 with N76. I think is wise to wait for a future clamshell smart-phone. If you have some suggestion I'm glad to receive it.

this is certainly an over-valued phone.the chrome peeling problem really kills the phone.the moment a portion came off,it's a matter of time before the entire coating came off.this phone also hangs frequently especially when you accept an in-coming too fast thru the front cover before the entire msg tone complete.The worst part is the network connection is very poor.Many times, the opposite party cannot hear you.in case where the voice loudness is poor, pressing the volume increased button too frequently will also hang the phone.In summary,do not attempt to buy the phone.

This phone chrome peeling is one kind of problem. It has lot of many other problems which are not possible to cover by G-mask or any other abracadabra trick. Some examples here: Connectivity to the network is not working well, sometimes other person can not hear you even you can hear that person voice, battery life is very short, software crashes (even in latest updates), voice from speaker by max volume is weak, very bad tactility for camera key, poor camera picture quality, you can not charge this phone from USB, sometimes phone does lost date and time when you put power off and turn that on again, SIM-card tray pull tab mechanism is a total flop, new phone battery cover is extremely difficult to remove, USB-connector placement is a design mistake. I would like to say that all of these problems are very hard to fix by phone user. These are related to phone design and goes back to Nokia engineers. I would like to say, totally over valued phone. Definitely not value for the money. There is one thing what I like in this phone and it is very nice feature, this phone usage as a modem on a road is easy, simple and it really works.

hey guys instead of worrying with chrome peeling of issue. why dont G-MASK it?! I think its the best way to protect your phone BEAUTIFULLY from peeling off... if you dont what g-mask is, search the web hehehe! anyway g-mask is somehow like a plastic material with difrnt designs to choose from, it is thin but very durable and protecive, i dont know if its gona work with n76, but it really did with my n92.

I bough my N76 in May 2007 (after waiting for six months for its release here in SA) as a substitute for my Razor, which was really outdated at that time but still good...to my dismay the N76 is KAK to say the least! For starters the built quality is questionable, the fake chrome finish on my N76 is pealing faster than CCX!!! And there are no skins for sale yet here in SA(08/11/07). Lastly I still can not get over the fact that it does not charge when coupled to a USB....lazy Nokia designers!!!!!!

Hey guys i m a phone sales and i was just reading ur opinions of this phone and some suggestions and questions...many or all of them can be solved with some common sense... firstly, ppl who buys this phone purely buy it for the look of it and it's 'sort of' alternative for motorola style phone but under the nokia brand. it's for those customers who likes flip phones and nokias and wanna stay away from motorolas. it's not meant to beat N95's, N80's or other phones for the features, if u want features, why don't you get those phone instead??? yes the chrome chips, but don't all colors come off when you put them in your pocket with the keys and coins? 1. don't put in ur pocket in the first place, no contact, no scrach, no peeling off, no damage 2. put a crystal cover on it, it may look crap but at least the phone will be mostly untouched. accessory is just an accessory, it suppose to either enhance, beautify, or protect, who cares if the case breaks/scratches? 3. put in a phone sock. this will probably be the best solution as the material of the sock will act double as a finger print wiper. since the material of the N76 is very prone to finger prints, much like on the navigator, the phone sock will easily compliment this flaw Cheers IQ

Being an ardent Nokia user I was quite intrigued by the N76 I had this phone for almost 2 months and it left me with me a feeling that buying the N76 was the biggest mistake of my life. Where do i start? This is a phone that has an amazing design, great features BUT dismal performance. Some of the issues you will face with the handset for sure are 1] Peeling of the housing 2] Unstable software which leads to constant rebooting (Its like the phone has a mind of its own). A call to the Nokia contact centre will only result in advice to do a master reset or book it for repair. 3] The music player is pretty good but quite often you will hear a weird buzzing sound and then the phone does what its best known for; Reboot. 4]It refuses to play any videos without rebooting (Sigh...here we go again) These are issues that i have identified with other N76 users as well. So it cannot be termed as a one off case. All in all from my experience I feel this handset is a waste, both monetarily and in terms of customer satisfaction. I managed to recover only 44% of the original market price. I have now moved onto Sony Ericsson and believe me I am happy. So if any of you are even thinking of buying this handset, BANISH THE THOUGHT!!!!

I want to know how easy it would be to set up all the necessary EDGE settings so I could use this w/ a data plan w/ Tmobile. planning to but this fone coz i'm greatly attracted by it's design. the red one looks so appealing. but as far as my researches and readings on nokia phones, i discovered that it's great design will soon be fading, not to mention its chrome coatings... For now, i'd rather have an N80 or N81 perhaps. N80 because of its wide-range functionalities(3.15MP camera, stereo music player and visiual radio.Plus, its built-in WI-FI/ Wireless LAN for unlimited internet browsing)... N81 because of its dynamic design and a lot of features that other phones do not have... It's really great! Seriously speaking... Only that it has only a 2MP camera, but i guess 2MP is good enough. high resolution though. As a bottom line, N76 is really good but be careful in handling this phone. It's design and menu settings are by far very unique.

to mr i just bought, to protect your phone from chrome peeling off, just put a crystal case just like i did, but i gues you will never feel at ease and at comfort thinking that one day, aaaah my beautiful phone will shed off and metamorphosize to an ugly creature... the reason i sold my unit a week after i used while the chrome is still intact. some nokia store covers them under waranty but you have 2 w8 until stocks arrive, acrding 2 my friend who encounterd this prblm hyperbolicaly speaking you have 2 w8 until your waranty lapses... hahaha! are they realy wiling 2 replace it?!?

From my past experiences, it is useless to take your phone for repair at any repair centre, as none of them do a good repair job! I'll always sell my phone whenever I find any problem ...never count on repair!

i just bought this phone, and after reading these comments im scared to get it, i ordered it. can anyone give useful tips to stop chrome peeling cause i want my phone to look good for at least a year...ive had problems with nokia before. i boughta nokia 5300 and i never had receptions buttons wouldn't work, applications where self deleting, major freezing and right now it getting repaired for the second time under my one year contract....and things get lose and DONT CHANGE THE HOUSING BY YOURSELF< GET SOMEONE TO DO IT WHO WORKS FOR NOKIA OR YOUR CARRIER..haha... so i understand nokia phones are fragile and i want to take care of this one so it wont be visiting the repair center, should i buy a protective case or what???

Kind of like the look of this phone the first time I saw the real thing in black from a distance. The only problem is when you get close to it, you will notice the cheap plastic they use! It must be true that this phone freeze up a lot and the paint peel off as all sales from operator to electronic shop advise me to back off from this model because of the aforementioned problems! I do not have the slightest clue as to weather these problems had been retified. I do hope so as I'm considering getting one since the price has dropped to a resonable level. I noticed there is a new color (matellic pearl white)on sale. This color may not look as sharp as the black one; cause you don't get as big a contrast as black with silver. On the other hand, the palstic in pearl white matellic does not look cheap anymore & they will hardly show finger prints! Recent Nokia phones' platform(S40/S60) font size are small but are shown big enough for comfortable reading because of the large 2.4" screen!

ok obviously we get the point that the chrome peels u gimps dont have to make 100 posts saying the same thing i have this phone, its the same 2mp camera in most nokias and when used in night mode they all get a greenish tinge with the photo! the video however is far far superior to my mates N80 if u want a flip phone and a nokia get this as it barely every hangs up and if it does for some of u i can only imagine what u are putting onto to make it do that as from the factory this phone has barely any problems great looking phone, as mentioned the battery life is a bit poor but if u do ure research u would already know that

Great phone. More tha 2 months and no peeling yet. It has freeze just twice in 2 months (is normal in any phone when too much things are done at the same time). Excelent external sound. Good radio signal just happens that it can be heard just when it�s plugged. No complaints at all.

Second repaired N76

Hey! I got my original N76 back from Nokia original repairing center. They replace new housings and update the software. 'Free of charge' as my phone is with Nokia Care agreement. About the new housings, no problems yet after 2 weeks of use. Software version was the same what I was using before repairing so no change to software problems. I notice that V30.0.015 software was released some days ago so I made an update to that and notice that there is also some unpleasant features on that. After pin code input, if you close the flip once phone is still starting, the whole system will be jammed and there is no any other way than take a battery out from the phone and restart that again. It is so funny to read these stories here about the how nice and good this phone is. Internet is full of pictures and comments from disappointed users how bad this product actually is. Use 5 minutes your time for this kind of study and you can realize how big mistake you are going to make if you buy this phone. I can send you a photos and video clips by an email from software bugs what I have found until now from this unit as well as hardware problems what this phone is having.

Ok guys ! what i can see ,many people experienced problems with this phone but well, i used the N76 since one month,there's no problem till now,no chrome peeling, no software error,i think that it depends on the way you use it coz this phone has not been made for sporty teenagers and careless users,and you must buy an original unit made in finland witch comes with a better casing to avoid chrome peeling coz nowadays we can even get nokia made in china but its not printed on, don't trust those on which you can read "MADE BY NOKIA" and don't buy units that cost half and sometimes a quater the price of an original one,the N76 actually on the market worth around 400USD

Do not buy this product, you are going to disappointed to this phone. Software is very unstable, even latest version from that. It will crash randomly, especially SMS application is having some problems. Chrome coating is peeling off after 1-2 week use. Camera functions are having some problems and sometimes you simply can not take pictures even camera is on and you can see the picture from the display. Software issue once again. Do not start to use camera straightly from the camera button, go to phone menu and start camera from there. Works more stable then. Battery life is hopeless short. My phone was sold by 2 batteries. There might be some reason behind of that... I could continue this list for many other problems what I have had with this low grade product but I'm going to stop to this now.

NOKIA SHOULD RECALL EVERY N76 IN THE WORLD BECAUSE IT IS A PIECE OF SH----T. They should be ashamed to have such a product on the market. I have been complaining for 3 weeks to NOKIA in the middle east and they are sleeping overthere. If my phone was bought in the USA I would have SUED and WON by now.....Chrome peeling / phone reboots after a call/ phone will not stop ringing untill you remove the battery...I would like to pursue this against NOKIA and will never buy another NOKIA again even if it's FREE.

Hi all,I got an N76 3 months ago and some of these problems cropped up.If anyone can help,pls help me.Thank you!!! My black model has the chrome of the sides peeling off!!! When I turn on the phone,the service provider on the phone says that there is no sim card and works offline automatically!!! The camera looks like it has something looking like a blot blocking out a small part of my photos,even when I put it to the maximum pixels of 1600x1200. The flip produces a creaky sound when I open it!!! I also cannot change the theme... What should I do now??? Pls help,someone!!

the n series nokia phones now adays have very small fonts, i'd have to put on my eyeglasses everytime i read my text message. i have been so interested to get an n95 but the fonts' size couldn't be changed to larger ones, can the font size of the n76 be changed to larger ones?

trust these guys when they say that the silver part peels off.. just wait til yours peels off as well.. i never even dropped my phone. not once since i bought it.. but the silver part just peels off without even so much as a harm to it.. i swear nokia really pulled a bad one when they manufactured this phone. so far, the phone, the unit is okay. its it in tip top shape for me, just dont drop it or its gonna get laggy... and the silver part!!! it peeeeeels!! beware.. be careful.. so just get it g-masked or something of the sort.. ciao... or else youre getting a lousy looking phone sans the red part or black part

After half an hour of use, I have to return phone back to shop because of the malfunctioning hinge component. I got a new phone which has been a real nightmare. Software crashes has been a 'normal' daily stuff, phone does not remember date and time so every time when I power on this phone, I have to feed in correct time and date. I made an update for phone software but it does not help at all to these problems. Camera picture quality is a bad, I was not expecting to get such a bad camera quality from N series phone. Also camera button is very difficult to use because you need to press that button so heavily that you get phone shaken and this way picture will be blurred. After 26 days of use, I notice that phone chromed coated (or plated) areas start to wear off... Now this phone look so terrible, flip component outer surface chromed area under of the small display has been lost its coating and there is just a plain plastic visible anymore. I hope this unit is just a special case, otherwise this will be a real flop product for Nokia. I have to return this 2nd unit back to dealer and got a 3rd phone from there. Hopefully that is a little bit better than those two others.

Guys, before i get this phone i rode some comentaries about it, but was kinda dissapoingting to only see things like "Its a design copy of razr" or people what dont know how to treat things with soft care and got upset cause the phone has scratches, there were only a few commentaries that worth to be readed in like 50 pages, but then i decided to try this phone, and this is what i think of it. Design . well it indeed look like razr but hey that is not the real point, even tough is a bit big it looks amazing, very modern and elegant i like it a lot. Features . what to say, in this it is like the N95 in a lot of points, the screen looks extremely good, the little one with 256k colors look very cool, i also have to make a commentary about all the things that u can do with the phone when its closed, the buttons outside the phone help u with things like camera(u can use all the menus from the outside) the playlist for the people who like to hear music, check ur lost calls and also read mms and some more than i cant remember right now, its really nice to not to open the phone for all this things, what about the rest?, the menues and all, well it look like an n73 or any N series at the inside so ill not make any comentary about it (but hey all N series menues are easy to handle so they ar cool) Perfomance . well all the things on the phone work nice, the main problem could be the battery, but u can charge it like half hour or less and its completely full again. Cons . well when battery is low it start to work slowly or some bugs start to appear, the best is to turn it off and recharge it, that is what i have to say about the phone, im happy with it and i could recommend it to any person who might be interested on it.

this fon has the mixed looks of the earlier released model nokia 7200 which did not run along well in the market n the keypads of motorazr kind. a flap fon wid such features becomes like a hectic thing. i think it wud have been much better if the n76 was instead a sliding fon. in many newspapers n magazine articles the n76 has been criticised over havin the "chin" of motorazr fones. it seems as if nokia just launched this fon in an attempt to take over the market of the motorazr phones which have been on the rise ever since but still failed to do so.

Emofreak, If your concerned if your wall paper will fit the whole size on your phone's screen, why don't just make your wall paper as your theme. It's very easy to do. Just go to ownskin.com and create your own theme. Go visit the site and you'll know what I mean...enjoy!!! And oh, regarding this phone, i have one and my advice is put it in soft (vey soft) pouch since it's a finger print magnet. Use the pouch as a tool to wipe off you fingerprints/dirt :)

Hi all, i have had this phone about 3 weeks and not had any of the problems stated by other users. There was one comment about vodafone UK not stocking this anymore. When i spoke to my friend at voda when i got mine he said nokia has sorted out the problems and there were going to restock them, hence why i got mine, fantastic little phone, never froze up etc... wondering if nokia had sorted them out

guys and girls please listen im not lying to u this phone is great on its options but i recommend u not to buy it cuz after a month it gives trouble with its red or black painting ... the painting starts to peel away from the phone just like the samsung z 510 ... and the sounds are not that good ... i recommend u buying the nokia 5700 than this phone or else go for another its ur choice but dont buy this ... this is also a shame to the n series phones im saying this as an owner of a nokia 5700 xpress music , a nokia n 72 me , a nokia n 70 me & previously i had a n 73 me also ... i have one last advice to u dont buy it until ur someone who stays home 24 hours a day everyday without taking ur phone anywhere specially not in ur pocket ... im glad i got saved from this phone cuz i went for a nokia 5700 xpress music as my newest phone ...

Good day everyone, just a view comments regarding this nice phone. I've mine since 4 days and in fact it hangs up means shut down ans restart again it self without introdusing pin code. But after have found on Nokia website that they did a firme update for this phone. After upgrade new firmware eveything works fine and believe me battery stays long as before. Go on this link: or Before you upgrade the firmware do a full back up via your PC Suite then upgrade it. On this way you don't loose your contacts/agenda etc. Hope it helps some of you. Cheers

Browsing the site I also fund another phone that I like the sony P1, the only thing i didn't like about it was the 256k color screen I have never had a 16M color screen before is it really of that much importance or can it render any type of picture? This is a beautiful device, has lots of applications possibilities, its fast to navigate trough the menus... but 700mAh BATTERY??????? PLEASE!!!!! five calls 4 minutes length and 1 hour of music playback (30min way to your job and 30min back home) and you ran out of battery. 24 hours autonomy. Shame!!!!!

The only good thing about this phone is the speed... other than that... specially the casing,.... you'll just be wasting your money for this one. Go with other Nokia model like 6110 navigator which a tad bit cheaper than this plus you get a GPS with your phone, dual speakers as well.

I am considering getting an N76 but there are so many people complaining about the painting. Nokia say that it is now fixed. Is this true for the newer N76's? or do you have to wait until you get a re-coat on the colour of the phone or is all this just made up to make people buy the phone. hey all, I recently got nokia n76 red from 2 weeks ago, i really like the aspect and the features as well, so far it has never peeled.. but i really got disappointed when i found out that it turns off all of a sudden. As for the secondary camera, i was so much glad that finally i would be able to see myself in the image before capturing lol, but i got so disappointed as it's just a video call camera, the image quality wasn't as good as i expected.. now am thinking to sell it and buy nokia 3250 pink.. i think this mobile has got the best camera ever... what do u think??

I am a Nokia Lover. But I was very disappointed from N76. The functionality of the phone is great and works great. The quality of the phone is extremely bad. As everyone talk about the chrome Pills very simply and it has also software problem. Mine keep reset by itself and some times I need to be so patient before can use the phone. As result of these problem for first time start looking others manufactures phone such as for sure Motorola. After looking the one really interest me was RAZR2 V9 but not here yet so I bought the RAZR-AXX V6 in main time waiting for V9. I am very happy with it but waiting to fix N76 cover and sell it. Do not buy N76. Take my advise.

Hey people I've had this phone for a while now, and I must say I'm surprised many of you think it's lousy. Nothing ever peeled, nothing ever hanged, nothing! It's just a good old Nokia, ever reliable, nice camera, average battery life. Has any of you bashers ever even used this phone? The stimuli that has brought this article here is the avalanche of messages suggesting the Nokia N76 has a casing especially exposed to wear and tear. The silver coating peels off to unsheathe bare plastic, so the handset loses its salable condition in no time. For something that costs 500-550 Euro (in Russia), this is a disgrace. Nevertheless, we have decided not to shoot from the hip and look into the roots of the problem, collect statistics on returns, learn about the reaction of service centers, distributors and the vendor himself. One of our readers lent us his unit that had lost its charm in two weeks� time. In the photos below you can see how worn the chrome plates have become, as well as the edge, so now the black chassis is on the surface. This holds true both for red and black editions of the N76 � the only difference is that the red-colored units tend to lose pieces of paint all round the casing, while the owners of the latter variant won�t experience this issue. Last week Nokia�s service centers received a bulletin with a rundown of the problem, stating that this case is covered by the warranty and replacement of faulty parts should be free of charge. As of today, there are loads of spare parts available, so no shortage is expected in the near term. So, is this a really wide-spread disease, or all we do now is making a mountain out of a molehill? According to our sources, this defect applies to nearly all Nokia N76 produced up until this day, and it has much to do with faulty parts supplied to the manufacturer, however the worst thing about it is that the spare parts delivered to service centers are no different. This means, that servicing your unit will merely bring you a temporal relief. In light of this fact, some European carriers have already discarded the model, specifically, the N76 is no longer available for purchase in the UK from Vodafone, as they took it off all price-lists on June 20 � no official statements have been made by the carrier as yet. But the rumor has it that Vodafone has returned all unsold units to the vendor � this point of view is explained here. What does this mean to Nokia? Being one of the NSeries flagships, the N76 is currently promoted on the market at full tilt � in most regions, including Russia, the company runs with aggressive outdoor ads, you can see commercials on TV, learn about the handset from radio broadcasts. Basically, the phone is all around. Have these advertising activities boosted the sales of the N76? Make no mistake about that. In Russia they sell not less than 4 thousand units a month (MRG data, July, 2007), which is a decent figure for this type of handset. As the advertising campaign heats up, the sales will at least double, which brings about a dangerous case. Who normally goes for these phones? Women � with fistful of cash, own mentality and style, those who have got used to a certain level of quality. For the most part, this audience is loyal to Nokia and recognizes it as a manufacturer of top-notch gadgets. What happens when you get paint-related issues or reveal other defects � we will focus on this a bit later. But for now, what the first reaction to this will be? Obviously, the owner will come to a conclusion that Nokia�s quality is no longer as superb as it used to be, so he or she might consider switching to some different brand, morphing from a loyal consumer into the opposite category. Being unofficial �opinion leaders�, these people might also have a negative impact on Nokia�s image. However it won�t be the end of the world � previously the Nokia 8210 was in similar distress with its faulty display, but back then the vendor easily made it through. You shouldn�t dramatize the situation � after all, it is not the whole company, it is one single model. The tricky aspect here is that the N76 is a relatively popular and aggressively advertised offering. Withdrawing this device from the market would be an unbearable price for the vendor to pay � rectifying this issue in service centers is way cheaper. The company�s reputation will take no fatal blows � Nokia has already suffered from this defect to a certain extent � what is really important to do is prevent similar cases from breaking out across the company�s portfolio. We rarely recommend our readers to refrain from buying some handsets, however in the case with the Nokia N76, these flaws apply to all units, and what is more, there are no non-defective parts available in service centers. That�s why there isn�t much sense in picking this phone, unless you are willing to get over its decaying looks (which is the foundation of any fashion phone). We also went to service centers to find out what problems the Nokia N76 had and what the main warranty claims were. And the figures we got for July were quite interesting � although this statistics is by no means representative or covers all regions, but the diagram below does give some clues on what�s going on. As you can see, the casing quality is by far not the most crucial defect. However, this doesn�t automatically mean it is non-existent � the fact of the matter is that faulty handsets normally arrive at service centers a tad later and since the Nokia N76 started shipping early in June, many units with this flaw haven�t been reported as yet. The statistics is also interfered by other defects typical for all models � displays, software, which are pretty much par for the course. But what is really important here, is the share of plastic-related issues, indirectly indicating the mass character of this defect. We asked the Russian headquarters of Nokia to shed some light on the situation. Maxim Pavlov, Nokia�s Service Manager in CIS countries, comments: �We are aware of the issues with certain casing components in the Nokia N76. All authorized Nokia�s service centers have been notified that the warranty does cover this defect of the Nokia N76. Nokia is seriously concerned about the quality of own products and we are doing everything possible to improve the situation around the Nokia N76. All service centers have enough details at their disposal, so the repair time will be minimal�. We, on our part, decided to examine the reaction of retailers. Most distributors have already come across returns of the N76, but unlike the service centers they haven�t been notified by Nokia. As the result the market is still confused about this issue. In the vast majority of retail networks you can replace a faulty unit within two weeks, given that you have an opinion letter from a service center stating that the defects you have encountered stem from the production flaws. Many retailers meet consumers halfway and replace their units without a letter from a service center (but give refunds very rarely). Regrettably, the service centers usually refuse to give opinion letters reasoning that with lack of experience, obscure forms etc. � but in fact, this is a direct violation of the law and you can insist on getting a letter, should a conflict situation arise, to get your money back from the retailer you bought the unit from (which is possible with this letter in hands). For example, one of M-Video stores features both a brand-new Nokia N76 and a returned unit with paint defects, whose price tag has dropped all the way down to 350 USD (against 760 USD for a new device). None of the vendors can possibly avoid flaw in production cycles. Unfortunately, Nokia ran into them with one of its key offerings. In our opinion, being aware of such flaws you should refrain from buying this device; or, in case you already own one, wait about 3-6 months until defect-free spare parts arrive and only then call at the nearest service center. Although this is a very rough time span, taking account of mass returns in all regions and lack of high-quality parts there days, it is unlikely that Nokia will be able to sort it out faster. And if you can�t stand waiting, then you can easily return your unit, replace it, or get a refund. P.S. P.S. Nobody is perfect, therefore this global issue with the Nokia N76 is not the reason to stand up and proclaim that all Nokia-branded handsets retain similar problems. Please, be more reasonable in your judgments.

TO E3V{... If you are not very careful in handling this phone, then don't buy this coz of aesthetic problems Nokia is having now with this unit. Nonetheless, you will be bugged by lots of hangs ups and restarts with this phone as stated by my friend who is a seller in Greenhills, Philippines that who bought this phone traded it later for another model. More and more 2nd hand units are now being sold in Greenhills because of this problems.

Nokia is no doubt a user friendly cell phone. My previous cells were mostly nokia. But with great dissapointment and frustration, I have to state that the Nokia N76 was a total faliure!! The phone simply hung on the very first use... which was repaired... and believe it... it hung on the second time too. I strongly WOULD NOT recommend any body to purchase this set.

NOTE: The replacement silver trimming that Nokia will give you under warranty is DIFFERENT. Logically, the replacement is of more durable quality. Why would Nokia replace a "defective" part with the exact same???. I had mine replaced. No more chippping/peeling !!!.

I agree to what you have said. Nokia Center/Care will replace your chipped off expensive N76 unit under warranty with a new casing but definitely, it will wear also after several months. What will happen if the warranty is over?? Definitely, you have to pay for the replacement, else, trade your phone for another model. Crystal casing is a temporary solution, the friction between the crystal and the paint of N76 will also serve as a peeling off mechanism to your unit. Unless.... a third party company will make a cheap plastic alternative and an expensive steel/titanium solution... if there is such. Shame on the makers of N76! You consider this to be part of your exclusive N-series phones?!?

ive always had nokia phones and i have to seriously say shame on you nokia for making such a crap phone!!! Ive had nothing but problems since day one and couldnt elf my phone in the first 30 days as i had to wait for a replacement but never recieved one. Its now been more than 30 days so i have to return the phone to nokia care centre and wait for it to be repaired and be without a phone. It has peeled, keeps freezing and turns off randomly. I think this will be the last nokia i purchase.

Look is quite nice in black. Plastic used is of low quality. Peel off problem is also a sign of low quality material & insufficent development testing. Battery life terrible. This phone is kind of big. Clamshell not user friendly & is not Nokia's specialty(Motorola still make the best clamshell phones). ...But, Nokia does produce the best slider phone represented by the top lin 8600 LUNA(The slider so smooth & the phone so solidly well made)

1.Its a great phone when it comes to functionality as well as looks. 2.the 2MP camera is great if you redefine the settings for picture taking and whoa you'll get a good responsive camera. 3.The clamshell screen is good too & u can use the camera through it even without opening the clamshell. 4.Its is pretty light for a smartfone with Symbian OS 9.2 with zero lagging issues. 5.I have used many clamshell phones by motorola, and sony but none can beat n76 in functionality and looks. **Battery life for n76 is best as compared to the other clamshell phones by other companies 6.Its a steal for its price. 7. 9/10 is what i'll rate it :) **Only flaw is that the metal coating near the keypad may peel off after frequent use, but it is under warranty by nokia and you can get the handset replaced for any hardware issues.

Return phone and get another one just like it and the paint will peel off as well. They haven't fixed the problem. Nice looking accessory or paperweight but not practical or even functional. They might have claimed to fix the hanging problem with software updates, but doubtful. It's too much technology crammed into a small area.

i just got this phone with vodafone a little under a week ago and i have to say it is a very nice phone as for comments on the pictures having a green tinge, this is quite normal for photos taken at night, my mate has the N80 and thats how his photos have always looked i new before i bought this phone that the camera and battery life werent that great, but if any1 who is whinging about this didnt read an article about the phone before u got it, u truly are the only ones to blame i find if u use the music player allot and text at the same time u will burn up the battery, but being an N series most have to be charged every second night anyway with its features being so battery hungry. its true though, its hard to hear people when using this phone, its not so bad when u are in a place where there is moderate noise but when u go out i do have troubles hearing, i have to try really hard to understand the other person overall i do like the phone, i jsut wish it wasnt awkward to talk on and the sound in covnos was better, but otherwise i would highly recommend it

Absolutely NO problems with my new N76. I've had it for over 1 month now. The silver started to peel off but when I took it to Nokia Service Center, they gladly replaced it under warranty with a new one which doesn't peel off. Minor problem which was fixed/replaced with no hassle. Mine doesn't hang but I was told by Nokia Service that if ever I do experience this, to simply bring it in for a FREE software upgrade which is also under warranty. So I wonder what the big hoopla is here????. If your unit has a problem then just bring it in for service!!! Its a beautiful phone! :)

Vodafone UK have withdrawn ALL N76's due to a high returns rate, high levels of software faults have prompted this, we all know that with nokia this is a common grey area, so why this handset?? the N95 had so many faults... as did the N73... My guess is that the UK market doesnt really like Clam style phones anymore... With the others (N95 & N73) they returned them but wanted the same ones back. But this was not the case with the N76 nearly all of our customers wanted a different phone... The N76 was nokias real failure for our market and lets face it... it is a little on the large side as well!

I got the n76 for a month now and i have to say that i'm impressed :) i'm a nokia user but I had major freezing problems and very low battery life so i had to switch.. I got this phone as gift and i have to admit no more freezing but the battery life is still a problem.. i guess if you try to keep it on meeting and turn off the vibrate mode it would help the battery last longer thats all you can do.. but overall its one of the best n series phones :) but the camera doesn't measure up to the 2 mp standards

I've got the black/silver version for about 2 weeks now. I really like it. It is a fashionphone so don't expect to much of it. Batterylife is quite poor, and the camera doens't shoot lovely pictures as well. But when you pull it out of you pocket when you receive a call, ppl are looking what phone is that and thats worth the money for me. I've got a Nokia E50 besides my N76 and several other phones. But i do like my N76!

My dad got me nokia n76 from dubai and i really liked it. it has one major problem. when i call or receive any call i can't hear people but they can hear me well. i have to use my headsets to use the fone. the loudspeakers work fine too. i dont know how to fix it it is brand new and i didn't buy it here, i got it as a gift. so i dont know if i get help for free at the nokia stores.

Horrible is not the word....Just bought it a week back...i click pictures they come with a green tint....hangs in between...and the only option is to restart, music player stalls at times, only option again is to take of the battery and restart. finallu i had to return it to the dealer, who says nokia is trying to fix the problem, almost 2 weeks over and nikia has not done their job of fixing the problem

Battery life is terrible! I charged it for over 1 whole day, and the cell phone only lasted 30 hours or so. I only made one 40 min phone call and other calls are short. Didnt use music or anything else. Does anyone else have trouble with the battery? Isnt Nokia phone supposed to have great battery life?

I just bought a nokia n76 in red. it's really slim for a clamshell and it's screen resolution is a lot better than my n80. I'm a girl, and I love the fact that the front screen acts a mirror. hehe. I don't like the keypad that much, it's kinda hard to text, but i'll get used to it. And it is prone to fingerprints. I'm just praying that the silver chrome won't scratch off. I bought it for Php21,700 (pesos)

I just sold a new N76 and it looks like an amazing phone as far as the features go. However, the compartments for memory card sim card and usb cover have a cheap feel to them and don't seem to fit right.

hey guy, i heard enought blaim about nokia n76, i just bought this phone, but! i don't have any problem so far, my n76 work great, never hangs never restarted, and the batter last very long for me, i played music and conneting internet take about 5 hours to run out the battery, maybe i the lucky one, thank you nokia the make this phone,
