i have this phone. . ,its only a second hand handset. . ,in my opinion to this phone, this was awesome. . ,i always use this as a pocket wifi using joikuspot. ,i can browse and dl faster. Its speEd is up to 3.9mb/s . I love this phone! But i d0n't always use the hsdpa c0z the phone's getting hotter. This is the greatest phone that i have. Hope nokia would support again the s60 platform in their new OS.

I used N85 becoz of the FM Transmitter, but even if it has not been my main phone it is so worn out. The upper keypad barely working now, the autofocus hasnt worked for years, the ribbon has been changed once, plastic pieces coming off around the camera shutter button, microUSB port has bad connection, earpiece is broken since long, FM transmitter has bad connection and does not always work, and... Very troublesome phone. Nokia never knew how to make solid phones, they used that brittle weak plastic for how many years, and... Well, NOkia just isnt durable enough, Sony Ericsson always was more solid and reliable.

A possibility is that you have installed some app with virus. Scrolling and other keypad functions are smooth. Another possibility may be that your internet is very slow. If this is the case, then when downloading a page the cell may respond slowly to key presses

U can hard reset ur phone, with these keys in cal *#7370#, like u want to make a call. it will erase everything in your phone, it makes your phone clean, like it was when you first bought it... and if don't want to do cleaning, you can try to use usb cable, and choose the mass storage mode, locate and delete unwanted files. cheers

I've been using n85 for 1 year..man this is the best phone..its symbian KING,because it has not any problem that other symbians have like hanging,restarting,slow processing etc. Music quality in headphones is better than any symbian phone..Camera is perfect,video quality rocks..i'll give 10/10 in its performance..it has everything,i love to keep this phone with me.

Try doing a hard reset to the phone, u can do so by several ways, either go to settings - restore factory settings or switch off the phone, press the green pick up key with number 3 with the * sign then switch on the phone while those 3 keys are pressed. Watch out coz all data on ur internal phone memory will be lost so, i suggest u do a back up on ur memory card or better on ur pc before doing a hard reset, i'm telling u to do a back up on ur pc better because u can then choose the items to be restored.. Ive been using the Nokia N85 for the past 2 years now. Overall, I can certainly say that it has been a great phone. The only problem im facing is that, my internal ( phone memory ) which is 74mb has been occupied by something unknown. Ive tried deleting all the apps, messages and contacts... But still this problem exists... It shows only 4mb free space... Suggestions will be appreciated..

The N85 has been with me for the last 3 years. Though I now have a Blackberry Storm2 9550 as my main phone, I still use the N85 as back-up because of its reliability. It is still reliable because it gets signals even though it's used indoors (in contrast to the BB Storm2, which gets choppy. I was able to use it when I traveled in the US with no glitch.), gets clear pictures (because of its 5mp cam), more user-friendly (the keypads are still better than the touch screen qwerty and the navi-key provides quick access to some apps) and the battery doesn't drain easily. Though it has gone slower lately (probably because of too much stored data due to pics and music), I give it a score of 8 out of 10. Now that I have changed its front cover, it now has its brand new feel and I'll probably switch back to it as my main phone.

I've been having N85 for almost 2 years now, i really loved this phone, but i'm currently having a serious problem with it that irritates me!! The Numeric keypad is ok, the D-pad and the soft keys keep freezing for around 12 hours daily then suddenly they turn working completely fine, when the phone freezes it becomes too slow, i have to press the D-pad 5 or 6 times to make any single move, while being on the internet, if i press the D-pad downwards, it gets me to the very bottom of the page, upwards gets me to the very top of the page and so on so, the internet becomes completely useless during the daily freezing time... Lately the phone has been freezing for almost 48 hours before being fine again. I tried doing a hard reset, tried also re-installing the phone software as i have the latest version with no use!! Total disapointment, phone is the worst I eb+ver had and I had many phones of all kind of brands and specifications. The worst of all was the Nokias treatment towards me as a custumer. That was the last Nokia I had and will ever have after many years of using nokias models and haveing all kinf of broblems with them- from 3310 till n85. Other brands turned up to be of litlle better quality and sevice....

No, sir/madam. The keypad is very accurate. Much worse have been seen. If you want a problem, it is more to do with the operation system. One digs deep before an answer is found. The "Navi-pad" is tiresome because it requires a certain pressure. Also the phone is heavy, if you think how small it is. There is not a lot of of plastic.

I am 50. I started with Ericssons, quite late, and I had a few. I have used a Samsung, and even a Motorola. Currently I have a cheap Samsung, and Nokia 3650, 6280 and the newly acquired N85. Overall, the best thing Nokia can do is about the sound, whether that be for the earpiece or the speaker. For now. Thank you for reading. And... of course, I am from Finland :)

more about the N85, I am the lucky 35E man, the phone I bought has scratches from 2 years of use and I have not tested the camera for prints. For the price I got the phone, a charger and the original memory card and nothing else. The battery is not too strong. I want to tell everyone that during the slide of Nokias share prices to the present 5 dollars each, the after market of Nokia phones have almost collapsed in price, at least in Finland. Cheap bargains are everywhere. Phones that cost 200 dollars just three years ago can be had for 30 today. its a terrific bust. For now. Some pieces are very artistic. Maybe even desirable.

I received the machine today per post, and I can tell you people that the sound from the loudspeakers is better than good, and played to the maximum, can be heard 100+ meters away. I paid 35 Euros for it and I am very pleased. The GPS is not too good, though, not with the original software. If I can make a call with it, its perfect!

it is now 2011 july i got the N85 2 years ago and i am going to upgrade my n85 to a N8 soon. the N85 is probably nokia's most underated phone ever in the time i had it it was exellent it is still in greate condision and even today against modern phones its pretty good. the battery is still good proving nokia realy knows how to build quality phones and i used it to the limit and back. will be sad to replace it. tribute then to a grate all-rounder you have served your master well. it seems that nokia does 'connect people' but they also connect with people

I don't understand a thing. This phone have no 3D Graphic Accelerator in the specif. but have N-Gage?....if not for games...for what is a 3D GPU to a mobile phone? Very good solid fone with good battery.Ive had mine 15 months and its top notch,,the problem i have is i have e72,e75,n79 as well because i love them all but overall with screen and battery the n85 is tops.The n96 is really good but bit slow battery bit short.Oh what the hell i love all nokia symbian fones.

well, if you want the best camera and solid build (whopping 149g weight dude--that's good enough for throwing and knocking someone unconscious), i suggest n86. for best memory capacity and a very large display, n96. for best design, cuteness and lots of feature on a cheap price tag, n85. i have an n96 and so far it's awesome as hell. it could have done good with a smaller and more compact build though.

I prefer that u buy again n95-8gb, no N-series has yet to beat it's performance...f u want to buy n85, it's processor is not as fast as the n95...the n86 has battery problem, it drains too quickly...while the n96, though with it's 16gb internal memory, the phone processor can't keep up with it, it's too slow and also drains the battery quickly...I prefer this nokia phones: n95c/n95 8gb, 5800, 5730, e52, e66, e71, e72, e73, n8 and n900...I hope u find the phone that Fits u, gudluck...:-)

yes you must have nokia software updater 1. Download and install Nokia Software Updater (this need only be done once). 2.Connect your phone to your PC with a suitable USB cable and open Nokia Software Updater. 3.Follow the on-screen prompts until your update is complete!

thats more or less what i am asking, what program or watever can make it send title/artist over RDS on N85. N900 also need software (a widget called FM RDS Notify) to be able to send sms and caller id as RDS text, the mp3/id3 over RDS is possibly preinstalled, i dont remember.

Thanks for the suggestion, i tried and sorry to say it didnt help, all i get in the car radio display is still "Nokia". Im considering to use the N900 as MP3 instead, both coz of its 32gig internal storage and better player software and the working RDS text. But N900 is still good for other things, N85 isnt, and N900 has a weaker FM transmitter (also when using app called FM Boost). I dont know eh.. Btw, the RDS text of N900 is cool. In addition to sending id3 to the radio it can also send text messages and the callers number of incoming calls.

what slide problem is that? very good slider on mine I have 2 say, N85 is not a very good buy now, but if you buy used and very cheap then its ok. Juzt stay away from ppl who think its the best phone ever, coz its not, its old and slow already, so make sure the price is accordingly.

My opinion abt N85, nice and compact fone with good display, easy to use, but its kind of slow like all Symbian phones. Had N96 before, N85 has many similarities (the form factor and keypad and watever). Better than N96 because the smaller size and firmer slide mechanism, and the FM transmitter. Plus N85 is nicer size. Photo and video is good, but not the best. Webbrowsing is bad like always on Symbian, Opera made some improvements but there is noticeable lag in Opera Mobile 10. All in all an ok phone but very outdated by todays standards. GPS is the typical old Nokia with low sensitivity. Wifi has low signal compared to my HTC.

how long should a n85 take to download a web page with a few pictures etc when 3g is showing on top left of page in the uk .Its about 3.5 mbps in download ability on phone but what about ISP output. Is it sufficient? im with vodafone. It takes an age. ALSO Why does my web page and contact page or music index page etc etc race down uncontrolably when i use and scroll with my navi button. Great phone but my head gets really wrecked when trying to scroll a web page after/during download/ing and taking an age to do so then page shoots away and downwards ,at mach 3. Any answers anyone. I do ant to help you more but its beyond the bounds of folk outside Nokia..They have all the original code and you never know how they do stuff.. The password is there for your security so nobody gets in so at least password does its job..Each job sheet is undertaken and signed by qc but when it comes to software ir may go through a different security protocol as to normal repairs ..This happens because it could mean Nokia employees could abuse the service by stealing fones and just unlocking the password..Good luck. N.B. it is free here in England to send your fone to Nokia and it can be up to 3 weeks before it gets back to you..

i think it have 128 or 96 mb ram. All feature pack 2 devices have 128 mb ram. I have nokia 5320 with the same specs and i can open more than 35 apps at the same time including N-Gage, Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Nokia Maps and all the other heavy games and apps.

I have used this phone exactly 1year now and this is my review.. *OS*-not the best but not too bad.. it doesnt restart that often (mayb once in 3months.. *Screen size*- 2.6inches for this is good.. but a good clear AMOLED screen (could be improved to 2.8) *internal and external*- memory is actually 85mb internally and externally using a 8gb would do.. *camera*- people may not agree but for me itz the second best camera in the N series.. (excluding N8).. N82 then after that itz N85 *CPU*-is not the fastest but managable (when used for sometime) *Battery*-Is very good.. last a very long time (last even more longer if u switch it to power saving mode) *Overall* - design 8.3 / Features 8.8 / Performance 8.5

I wonder if I was too rough on that phone.. But my keypad is broken.. Lost paint at the camera cover volume button and navi wheel, one crack above the multimedia key. Broken keylock slider, (i used to play with it frequently) loosen camera button (I used the camera button as the pencil key last time :|) broken back cover. (I used to play with it frequently too) And I have found a crack under that navi button just few month after purchasing this phone. The navi wheel and zero button is not functioning well. (I suspect it is cause by water) Overall the phone is just great. I had dropped it several times and there is no any scratch around the phone casing. Just take good care of your phone.. lol. But I wonder why don't you buy the N86? It is a N85 + better camera. N86 navi wheel also function as a light notifier unlike only breathing in N85.

N85 users help me out. Nokia has stopped de production of n85 in India and i got an offer in a showroom for 11k. Its an old stock. I found this phone very interestin bcoz of its eye catchin looks. I haven used any n series phones or haven owned a nokia phone and i wish to hav 1 now. I had read many reviews about de n85 in this site which makes me confused. I really doubt whether i should go for it or go for de sony ericsson hazel. All features are kind of de same between them except for very few things. So guys help me decide:-)

HI i had been using n85 since 1 year.To be frank i like all the functionalities of the phone but at the same time it does hav some disadvantages too.It has all the stuffs wat a mobile needs...like a 5mp CZ camera,amoled screen,fm transmitter,etc,etc and i get a gud battery back up of 2 days. i am using this phone for a long time now. i wouldnt recommend any1 to buy it. after a month of using it the speakers started having problems , got them replaced but they still are not that good. cant view the screen in sunlight at all. if u open many applications it will get hanged.

Only downside is the keys alongside the navi-wheel, the answer/ menu etc. keys are quite hard to press. otherwise, the phone has everything you want, a good camera, memory capacity, wifi, the works.....highly recommended unit.....

Husband and I both have N85s. Even though we have had minor problems we love them. Camera is really great, love being able to load music and ability to store onto memory card instead of phone. Will advise anyone and everyone to switch off their phone from time-to-time because they are a mini computer and need to have some down time occassionally.

Just on Saturday i bought Samsung Wave replacing my good old N85. Though it was good but mine needed good amount of maintenance, screen broke twice & slider belt too had to be replaced & their costs with Nokia care were too high, a AMOLED screen costed my 2.8k Rs. which is high. After this i was fan of AMOLED screens & thus was not convinced enough to go for N97mini or any other nokia as none of them have this display, Wave impressed me with its even better display. I never wanted to go for touch screen phones but in range i was, there was no option except for E72 which i didnt liked much for its small qwerty keys. I still miss my Nokia for its some convinient features & as for the 1st time i have moved from Nokia in these 11years of mobile usage, definately i will miss Nokia. But slider's for still are not recommended, i love those simple big Bar phones like N73 which i had, i just loved it, they are much more reliable & classy looking. The features i loved in N85 were: AMOLED screen FM Transmitter Symbain compatibility Its camera Its looks & some convinient features. But i dont know why Nokia discontinued it so early in India.

That quite scary what you wrote but i went for nexus instead of milestone but back with my n85,, n85 is small compact,,good audio cam video and battery,,glorious strong vivid colours in screen,,good value full of apps and it got BUTTONS non of this touchscreen rubbish..I have had no problems with mine except the front plate housing d-pad is little creakt but it works fine and normal symbian crashes thats goes with all computers these days..This n85 is one of them little gems of a fone that come along now and again like n95 s/e k750/k800 all good fones SO whats happened these days in 2010 i cant get excited about fones as i did back then and other people are saying this on gsm arena and blogs etc..Bring back good clamshell button fones with shape curves and style..

This phone is without a doubt well worth the money spent. It comes with all the packed in features which you would be familiar with in other Nokia smartphones. I've had one for a year now and it hasnt given me any problems. The FM transmitter is great for road trips or times when you dont have your music stand or speakers available. Just been out filming and having no problems with my 32GB sandisk memory card..There was not stutter but only video recorded 2mins 30 seconds.

its your memory card cannot write that amount of information to the card quick enuf..you can buy faster cards i bet your using class 2..the thing is if your card is messy,then when writing the data to card if the empty blocks are allover the card i.e. fragmented this causes slight delay in finding fresh empty space ,this is what also cause the stutter as the n79 trys to find blocks of empty memory card to write the data too..If the memory card is brand new it should not happen.

I say its a good smartphone too..In fact its been a good little mobile its done everything i want..It has hung a few times like all computers and person below who said about crashing on first start up then having to remove battery,,you have to wait till its fully booted..Any problems do check software and themes are some of the biggest causes of crashing/hanging/slow down..I had a theme that looked like htc hero background and it was the cause of all sorts of slow downs and errors,,it happened to be over 2MB in size and just was not compatible at all.. This does sound boring but you do get the best performance with the pre-installed themes.. The n85 in closed slider style with lock off and headfones fitted it looks just like an mp3 player with ultra coloured screen but underneath its a powerfull series 60 smartphone with high class audio and superb camera optics and decent video recording..

I've had this phone for about nine months, until now I haven't had any serious problem as commented (freezing, switch off, etc.), It freezes sometimes when I change themes. but this is because these themes are not well made, so I just remove them and everything's ok again. My phone is a NAM-3. I think that everything depends on how we care of it, on what we install, etc....many people like to install any stuff and many of those things are corrupted and through time the phone spoils. I thinks it's a good phone....

Hey N85 owners. My keypad collects dirt all the time, its so irritating! And that loud noise it makes when you type......is there anything I can do about that? Also, eversince I upgraded my software, whenever I switch the phone on and use it straight away, the phone freezes!(then I have to remove the batery). So I have to wait a minute for my phone to "load". Is anyone else having this problem? The front part of my phone has developed a thin scratch, and I like never dropped it before! I CANT wait for my contract to end so I can get the N8!

All u can say about this phone is that:it costs.the powerfull cpu let u to run n-gage,using gps,listening to music in at the same time without any problem.and dont worry about the battery life.but the ergonomy is weak.the noisful,hard,flat keypad sucks.and i even experienced data loss many of times.esp for mp3s.

I've handled it and I have to say spend your money on something else. Nokia must have made 20000000 of them because I was in the Chicago flagship store a month ago and they are still selling it. Mind you its a 2 year old phone. The keypad is a flat membrane style and offers no discernible feeling between key presses. The screen, while AMOLED is "meh" at best. The whole feeling of the phone is cheap. If you are dying for a Nokia slider with a decent camera go for the n86. The thing is built like a freaking tank. Or if you can find it try to get a N82. Best camera on a Nokia HANDS DOWN.

unfortunately my n85 gave up on me a few days after the warranty expired. i think that's why nokia is offering an extended warranty for these phones. we have two of this phones, my brother's unit gave up during the warranty period so repair was free. I brought mine to nokia care, and the estimated cost was around more than half of the price of a used unit.

n 85 is not at all good as it is all posted here. firstly the front panel key buttons have to be pressed so hard that even my kid of 12 yrs told me it is clumsy. phone is very heavy. camera is worse than that of n73, with lot of noise. the charger being different you need to carrry your charger everywhere. the speakers are whiners, hardly you can hear the phone when 10-15 feet away! the screen refects in sunlight and you cant see any thing on the screen! the number buttons ae such that you are likely to press another key by mistake.

I have been using N 85 for last 3 years. It is extremely good phone, full of features. The only sad thing is that the replacement battery BL 5K is not freely available, even at the authorised NOKIA show rooms. I have been from place to place in last one year and the only battery which I got was the one smuggled from middle east countries for an exorbitant prize (Rs.1800/-) and it gives me a standby time of just 14-16 hours, talk time of less than an hour. I had given a complaint to NOKIA WEBSITE who promptly responded by saying that I would get a guaranteed BL 5K battery from them, but now almost 8 months have passed since their assurance.

the pictures that you couldn't delete on the photo gallery were from some applications been installed on the phone.. try to use another picture viewer search on google.. the battery issue if the battery were really poor just buy a new one..

Hey wait, i am not done yet. A friend of mine bought an N82 and was amazed at the camera quality and the gaming performance. I was happy for him. About three to four hours later,he came back to me feeling very sad.I asked him the reason for it. He said that his battery had run out. I asked him,how much applications did you run at a time? He replied that he had taken about 30-40 photos, played half an hour of games and had kept a download running. And the download broke because the phone simply SWITCHED OFF. Also he said that the viewing angle of the screen was very poor, only about 80-90 degrees. Not to mention it does not have a decicated audio chip, so the sound quality does not stand out of the competition. Again i repeat that i am comparing the N82 because both of them are in the same price range and the prospective buyers may drool over the specs of this phone, but they sure drool over time after buying the phone. Have a good day.

Great phone. It has no weaknesses in its segment. Hey wait, it dosent have the Xenon Flash! And neither a Graphics Accelerator! And a dedicated Network Processor! But hey, you get all that in the N82. And because you get all that in one phone, its battery life sucks. Its like you would have it all,but you woudnt be able to use it when you need it the most. Not to forget the below par design and the thick slab that it is. So the N82 simply isnt worth it. And that is why the N85 is the best,because it is a superbly balanced phone. The reason why i compared the n82 because i get tired of the loads of braggers simply not being able to acknowledge anything outside the N82 bubble. I am pretty sure they would have to reach for the charger after benchmarking the phone. Have a good day.

I got myself a N85-3 (from America) in December 2009. I didn't use it till March. Its been just 3 months and there is already a chink between the C and the menu key even though I've never dropped the phone and it is hardly out of its pouch. I have the latest firmware. The real problem however is that during the last 2 days, the phone speaker (the one for calls, not the stereo speakers) stops working randomly during call. I have no idea what to do about it, its completely random. It starts working randomly or at times doesn't work at all. I don't want to get my phone opened for repairs. I would really appreciate if anyone here tells me what to do.

Standard N85 has the real immortal battery (2-3 days living) and if you'll activate power saver you get an extra 12 hours so all you need is to buy 1200 mAh (BL-5K) battery and replace old by new one. what about sound, handset isn't too noisy, sometimes you can't even hear it ringing but in headset it sounds just brilliant. I will dare to say better than Iphone 2G. I've used N85 for a half year and changed it with HTC, what a fool was I :((((

Ideally, i intended to purchase N97 however i was advised by the store that to go for N85. i purchased this h/s since it supports N-gage. but after purchasing the h/s i found that i have to buy each game. so i visited an external website and i have purchased 67 games including games available on Ngage and that too at a cheaper rate

Well, m a tech freak guy frm delhi who goes for latest cellphone technologies available in market and i examine everything abt a phone very carefully. In sybian phones, i hav used nokia 660, nokia n73, nokia 5320, nokia n95, nokia n79 and nokia n85. I own nokia n85 frm last 8 months and frankly speaking, it is the next best to nokia n95 used by me, Goods abt nokia n85 - 1. The 2.6 inch Amoled display is the most attractive thing to notice, well, it is one of the brightest screens i hav ever seen wid any nokia symbian phones, bt it is a bit hard to read outdoors in sunlight (bt its a usual problem wid all coloured phones), bt this problem can b rectified by using light coloured themes 2. The processor of nokia n85 is very fast (till date) and the software of nokia n85 does trouble anybody much as it does nt hangs tht much like other symbian phones (nokia n79 has a really poor software update) 3. Nokia n85 has a 3.5 mm universal music jack. U can use any branded earphones like Sony, senheiser to get more better enhanced music experience.The music quality s very gud in earphones. 4. Th integrated 5 megapixel camer is awesome. The pictures clicked are very nice and crisp and dnt break in pixels when viwed on a computer. Th LED flash is very powerful and brightest than many 5 megapixel phones available in the market 3. Nokia n85 has got everything u want in a phone, its a complete package phone with everything in it. For example Bluetooth, wi-fi, GPS, 3G.Ask for any feature , nd u will get tht in nokia n85 fitted with 8gb memory card Letdowns - 1, The speaker volume is very low (if u like playing music without earphones) 2. The battery is not tht much sufficient for people like me, who uses internet on cellphone all the time, It lasts a full single day till i hav to reach my charger. Also the charger of nokia n85 is different frm other nokia phones and u cant find charging options while travelling if u forget ur charger at home 3. Nokia n85 doesnt support AVI format videos. Though AVI videos can b played using a 3rd party softwares like smartmovie. I think nokia shud think abt this and bring this feature in upcoming models 4. The price of nokia n85 is a bit high ( i dnt knw why nokia n85 is priced at around Rs 19000 INR and nokia n79 at Rs 11500 INR and there are only slight feature differences and design) OVERALL VERDICT - If u dnt like phones like nokia n97, nokia n97 mini, then nokia n85 will b the best option for u. U will love to have this phone in ur hand and u will never think to sell this phone ever ever, Its a must buy phone. If this phone is discontinued, then u can opt for ebay to buy it

Ok. got my n85 since last X-mass. It was very very very excited. First impression, it was a jewel ! But then, the problems started. I'm gonna make a review. With pro's and con's. Con's: -the plastic is EXTREMELY poor !!! i don't know what's up with nokia, but the plastic SUX -what's up with that gps? it's USELESS ! gps sux -a large amount of useless apps. i really don't need like 80% of them. just makes the phone go really slow -battery life is utterly poor. it's full, and the next second the power saver is activated because it's empty. what the ??? have to charge it every night - OVIstore sux big time, i mean, IT SUX. let me say that again, IT SUX. my brother has an iphone and appstore is like 100000x times more usefull - i was thrilled because of the n-gage...but again...very disappointing. a game is at least 7$ - speaker...they are like a cat singing on a trumpet. what's up with them? it's stereo...but it's sounds disgusting + the sound level in the headset is extremely low ! Pro's - symbian is great ! kinda slow because of the useless apps, but it's very good. - the camera is very good too ! 5 mpx, very precise, good zoom , great flash ! you can easily make a film in the night because the flash is like a damn lamp. - wireless is a perfect touch ! - the browser...what can i say...it's kinda good, not great...in the middle - the media player is great + the music player is very useful, you can find any song in a moment - good touch on the double-slider , slides perfectly - it has "search" which, for me, was extremely useful ! anything , from songs to messages that contain that given word, the search engine will find it. perfect touch - a lot of detail in this phone when it comes to themes, maybe it slows it down, but i surely love it - LARGE MEMORY !!! 8 GB , SWEET ! In conclusion , it's a 8,5 rated phone ( that's what i say ). If you want a business phone with a lot of apps and great camera, then it's perfect for you. A good phone, not very good, but surely not a poor phone. thumbs up nokia !

Thanks for trying to help me, but almost every user of the N85 is facing this problem (you should check the song number of any song with 10+ number in the music player). I have all the music on my Pc with correct numbers, so its not a problem with the pc or the way I transfer music, because I've used WMP and Ovi Player to sync the songs. Ah! and the latest firmware version (at least the one that I have installed) is 31.002. BTW my N85 is the North American Version (N85-3).

Some says that the latest firmware is 30.019, mine is 30.002 and when i checked it says 'no update available' . I'm still confuse till now. Let us discuss it hehehe.. Btw have you used nokia messaging? On my n85 that app causes alot of problem.

I never had problems like that. you should have checked the songs on computer. Maybe those songs have number in their tag id or something like that. And you should change that. Hope this helps you :-)

i am using this phone from last 15 months, Except camera and few sensitive parts, every thing is very good in this phone, camera, quality is very low even medium light, parts are a bit sensitive, my hearing speaker spoiled once, locking button is broken now, Nokia says 10-15 games, but you can play only one game full all others are trail ones, phone is so costly to the features, i bought on almost the same day it was launched in dec 2008 for about 22 K

I don't know if somebody has noticed this issue with the N85, but the track order of the songs you import into the phone doesn't keep the way that it really is. For example, in the music player the songs from 1 to 7 are displayed in the correct order, but from 8 to the end of the album the songs are displayed alphabetically. This thing is starting to annoy me so much! And if you look to the details of a song in the music player, you will see that the number of the song is something like 49. I hope they can fix this issue with a firmware update. Overall no other major issues with the handset.

Build Quality on Nokia N85 is good. Metal Frame and metal slide. Mineral glass in front, does not schratch so easy ass regular plastic. Keyboard ist not perfect, a bit flat.

I got my N85 from Qatar a year ago... It's Made in Finland and it works great!!! Till now it has never hanged... I love the phone... The AMOLED screen is just beautiful... To those complaining with scratches on the screen put a screen guard... Helps a lot!!!...And to all you N85 users out there, please post on nokia discussions for a firmware update with bug-fixes and ovi maps with free navigation(or look for my thread N85 wishlist)..... N86 got updated again.... *sigh*...

JRF, unluckily for you, of course, but in some sense luckily for me, I now found out I'm not alone in my struggle with this piece of junk (made in Finland, by the way). There is no other decent name for this phone. I had many phones and smartphones in the past, and, like you, sure now how to use a phone. None, including the T-mobile Wing, which has taken a lot of bashing, was nearly as awful as N85. After two weeks using it, all my music got deleted. Like, you know, just gone. Fine, I added it again. The phone keeps freezing, so I have to remove the battery, it isn't event possible to use the restart button. Yesterday, just all of a sudden, all my installed software and games got deleted. Can't explain how mad I am! There was absolutely NO REASON for that. They're just not there any more. Now, the built. The cover cracks, the touch buttons feel incredibly stiff. Not to mention the screen and the back cover seem to be magnets for finger and ear prints. Shame on Nokia for building a phone, which simply belongs to the trashcan. The only thing I can do with it is to use the phone function. For the price I paid, thank you. IF YOU WANT TO BUY THIS PHONE, MY ONLY ADVICE IS DON'T. It doesn't worth it, actually it doesn't worth anything! This is the worst communication device I have ever had in my life. Now, I have said it all. I feel better.

I have this phone for 13 months. I'm still loving it. The build quality isn't the best. Actually, its wobbly from the 1st time i bought it. But the wobble not getting worse, luckly, even i accidently dropped it off several times. Yes it hangs alot, BUT because the 3rd party app. Even nokia messaging isn't really compatible with this. If you used that app, beware! That will make your n85 to rich of problems. The screen is awesome. Symbian s60 browser is a rock! My friend, blackberry user, got shock when i played youtube over it via wifi. Now, i'd used Seven for my push mail service. It is better than n0kia mssging.

Yes, many people lie... fanboys mainly. But, how can you say "don't listen to the people that say its bad because they lie" when people that say "its a perfect, problem free phone" are just as likely to be lying? I've had many phones in the past. Smartphones (SE P1i, Nokia N85/N95, Blackberry 8520/8350i) and feature phones (Nokia 5610, SE c902/K750i, Motorola A1200/V8/V3i) And more, too. I've never had problems with "knowing how to use a phone" because I just know how to use them. I didn't need to read the manual for my N85 nor my Blackberry. I just learn by using. My n95 belongs to my mom and never, ever had FW issues. Just once it froze but taking out the battery fixed that. My n85 didn't last 5 days from purchase before deleting my ringtones and music. Fine, I did a backup of my phone, reloaded the latest FW and everything. Perfect... 4 days later more songs got erased. Ok, got annoyed... repeated the process. 5 days after that it did it again. Got mad an went to my carrier and they said that it didn't have anything, that I wasn't putting the files in the correct folder. 5 days before my 30 day exchange policy gave up, it deleted pictures. From my camera gallery. That really got me angry since I didn't create that folder. Went back for an exchange and they kept it for 2 days. Nothing wrong, I wasn't using it properly. I told them to f*** off and they said if in 3 days (the final 3 days of warranty) it messed up I would get it "fixed". I was so angry that I sold it for 100 bucks, having cost me almost 500. So I bought me the BB8520 and it has been one of the most stable devices I'v ever owned. Any Nokia user knows that Nokia's devices are often rushed out to production and FW updates take a while to reach every carrier.Take the 5800, how long did it take to get a FW update for the camera and for kinetic scrolling? The n96 was probably even buggier than the n85. The n97 is just as buggy. Probably the best nokia to buy right now is the n900 or one of the newer Xseries devices. I, for one, hate the n85 and wouldn't recommend it.I prefer nokia from 2007 and before.

I've had this nice phone for months and I've never had any trouble with it...many people lie when they say it is a rubbish, that software is bad, etc....what happens is these people don't use the phone adequately and install so much "rubbish stuff" downloaded from internet and this is the way that they spoil tha phone...I recommend it

Worst Nokia phone i have ever had. Negatives: Poor build quality with keypad (returned my 1st one ELF with a keypad problem), software issues (even after the only update). Phone goes flat overnight occassionally after being fully charged a few hours prior. Positives: Excellent camera quality, charges from USB no bluetooth compatibility issues with my nokia BT HF kit (CK1-W).

I agree that Symbian is unstable and always has bugs that go from random reboots to corrupting memory cards. But WinMo is even far more unstable and more buggy than any other smartphone OS. Their hopes of catching up to the rest is on the shoulders of Windows Phone Seven. And That looks promising. Right now Android phones are offering a lot, of course some phones have stability issues like the Nexus One, but they are moving fast. the iPhone is probably the least troublesome, but then again, it is the most retricted. You can't do anything unless you jailbreak it. Symbian is definitely getting outdated but I'm sure Nokia will see the future Maemo has and start getting more support for that. Symbian is at it's end.

Ive owned my N85 now for 18 months,i promise you i love mine,its an excellent phone,keep the O/S updated,always be carefull what you download and put on the phone,and only charge when almost flat - and it will be reliable - Ive bought the GPS licence for mine and is very good, web browsing very good and quality of build is very good - I have 1 critism,. that is in direct sunlight its almost impossible to read the screen - but can put up with that as its a supreme phone in all other areas,. def get the N85 or the N86 Darren

even i got a crack in the same place in my n85, i.e. between menu key and the "c" key....and mine shows an error of "memory full" everytime, even if the c drive has 52mb free and the memory card has 4.4gb free.its so annoying thing .i have formatted my fone thrice,,eventhough i am not able to get any solution for my problem.....

The build quality and camera!! And obviously, the price. Other than that, is internal memory, but I normally wouldn't use the internal memory except for a few themes. But I always just have like 2 or 3 favorite ones and that's it. OS and Ram should be the same except the n86 has the newer icon set which I think is FP 3, but a theme will cover that on the n85.

i have had this phone for a year now. its an amazing phone, wouldn't trade it or swap it for any other. the design looks sexy and i people always say "wow nice phone" it has basically every single feature that modern phones have plus it is small in size with a big screen. i love everything about it and im talking from experience, it is a very fast phone and the wlan is WOW. the only disadvantage i can think of is is the navi wheel, it works great but it took me a while to learn how to use it efficiently camera, music and videos are top quality also the battery has never let me down, i charge it every 3 days and use this phone alot. if some of you are planning to buy this phone then you must buy it, it is truely a winner. it has character ;]

hey guys. despite what some of the reviews said i took the risk and i bought a n85 for 300$ made in china (parts Finland). it was risky, but you know i am now very happy with it. it does not hang. its screen quality is awesome. the camera is good (compared to n82 it is a 4.5 mp. it is super fast and also classy. i have already installed lots of games and applications lots of music and videos and its just superb. I recommend it for such a low price too.

if your phone has gprs connection type *#0000# and select check for update. follow the step if not than download nokia software updater to ur PC connect ur phone and start the application. follow the step. If you do not have the PC (how can u?) or the software is not showing you any update but u r sure that updates are available in your region, go to Nokia care, they'll do it for free, if purchased with warranty.

THE NOKIA N85 IS A COMPLETE DUD The cheap plastic build of this phone allows dust etc into the slider and motherboard areas. This attracts moisture and corrodes the electrical components which is why all the slider phones from Nokia have charging, battery or electrical problems. Hi, i'm having a dilemma of these 2 phones. N79 & N85 Cause i'm more of a classic phone guy, or Nokia calls it the monoblock. But somehow i find n85 nice, best design i would say among N series,quite good review too. But i've never heard much about n79 so far. Dont see LYN selling much n79 either. mwwwhaa i love ma phn this is superb ppl, i use this phn nearly 1 year and i updated few times with there new firmware but i have to tell u all firmware 30.101 is ultra superb, phn speed is awesome after that firmware. i love all the features except camera still photos in indoors other than that i have no probs. another thing u have to care your phn too coz this is bit heavy but i like that so point is care u have to handle it safe if it fells u have to buy another housing that's not only for this phn it's for all phns if u tell it's not u have fell but not even scratched that's meant u'r lucky... :D

Very good phone, not much to add or take.. Pictures are very nice, no more oversaturated as some models had it by default... Only thing is that it should be out of better material.. Maybe scratchfree glass and more flexible plastic. You can't play games even close to carelesly.

Hey... i am using N85 since Feb-09 It is the best Symbian Ph i have ever used. Its features are great. FM Transmitter is the best option and Firmware can be easily updated. Its connectivity with other things like PC, other mobiles, TV, Wi-Fi, headphone type accessories is excellent. I have not found it struck while carrying heavy data, playing music and same time net surfing or running 2-3 application same time. It give it has built-in GPS which works very good. You can update Maps application from Nokia Maps website from Version-2 to Verson-3. And enjoy update different countries maps through Nokia Maps updater. N96 only have Big screen advantage otherwise N85 much better then N96

Why? I read all the previous comments and it all say negative about N85. I don't know why u r facing such low quality of N85 since I my self experience good quality of pictures, sounds, and all. My N85 camera is just great if compared to n95, and I think its video recording is nearly to n82 video quality which is for me very clear and good. This phone is better than N96 in my opinion since N96 does not have fm transmitter, and since the tv tuner in the N96 is not working in my country. What can I say about this phone is, it is not that bad, it is the opposite.

to keep activate FM transmitter u must have keep playing a song in ur device otherwise it will turn off automatically, and remove the headset if connected, its easy.

I am using this mobile from last 2-3 months and now there is crack formed between the "c" and the menu ,sound quality is also not as good as I expected and when I'am in playground or driving my bike at that time I have to receive calls without knowing the caller's name because of this OLED. And the 5mp cam is also not as good as my frnd's n79. I am feeling very sad why I purchased this mobile. I would say go for N79 it is just the best.

This happens to softwares and themes wich are created by untrusted person or they are cracked versions wich have not Signed and you have to sign them by your phone's IMEI with a Cer and a Key file

Hey thanks for your reply! I can say that I would think it was a virus because I had downloaded themes and that's when I first noticed my songs missing. But after reformating and reinstalling the phone's fw 3 times, the problem didn't do away. And I didn't download anything after the 1st time. So the last time it happened I didn't have any downloads and my antivirus didn't detect anything and one day out of 250 pic I was left with 186. And for no reason at all. I took it in to get it checked by the carrier's phone repair guy and he checked it for 2 days. After those 2 days he said nothing was wrong. That I was putting things into the phone's memory and not the memory card. I was like wtf? I've had so many phones and this guy says I dont know how to put music on this one? So I sold it and now I own a BB and am quite satisfied with it. Of coarse the camera sux compared to the n85. But I can live with that. Thanks anyways ;)

Dear grgo, After you "turn on" your fm transmitter, you should play some music (via music player) on your phone. But make sure you asign a frequency (XX.XX KHz, where X is a number [0~9]). Then you need to turn your car radio (or any other radio) on THAT particular frequency & make sure that your phone is NOT far away (10 mtr) from the radio antenna. Please also make sure that the frequency you selected is NOT occupied by any of the local radio channels or the frequency is NOT close to any local radio channels. For example, suppose a local radio channel runs on 98.60. Make sure you don't tune fm transmitter between 98.10 & 99.10. It is better to clear yourself +/- 0.50 MHz as your phone has limited capacity and can only transmit to a close range. Take care. Suhanoo

Dear JRF, I read your problem & my guess is that some how your phone was affected by virus. I used to have a 6600 & 3230 in the past. The problem you said happened to me on those models - the reason was the same - downloading directly from the net. I would recommend you to download via PC, check it with a anti-virus program, then load it in your mobile through data cable. I hope you can do that. Take care. Suhanoo

@ Shukrima - You need to go into the settings of the phone, and change the application settings, from signed only to any (Can't remember the exact phrase Nokia uses, but that's the gist of it) Once you've done that, you'll be able to install the software. Sometimes software has an expired certificate, to install that you'll need to change the date on the phone. HTH.

Hey guys, I got rid of this because it was too much trouble. It deleted 70 pictures and it pissed me off. I took it for an exchange but they kept it for 2 days and said that there was nothing wrong with it. They said it was me!! That I didn't put the pictured on the external memory! So f* them. I got a blackberry and am fully satisfied. So far. I miss the fm transmitter and obviously the cam (5 mpx vs 2 mpx) but I'll let it pass as long as it keeps me happy. Hope no one else has problems with theirs. If so, then hopefully you'll get a better customer service. Bye, N85 forum.

After starting the fm transmitter you have to tune your nearest fm reciever to the frequency at which you tune the transmitter and then play the music via the music player it gets played on the device which you tune the fm

I bought this phone 5 days ago and updated it's firmware immediately. I did't try the FM transmitter earlier, but now I can't make it work. There is an option "turn on", but when I press it, nothing happens, it just stays "turned off"! Does anyone have same problem? Hi Suhanoo! I have a question, see, my N85 has been with me for like 2 weeks and 3 days and on the 3rd day I noticed my ringtone (mp3) and 5 mp3 songs had been erased from my memory card. So I made a back up of my pictures through mass storage and reformatted the card. I thought it was because of a theme I had installed. So put everything but my themes. Then, 4 days later(begining of week 2)more songs were gone (from 21 to 17) and then I pressed refresh gallery and then only 12 songs were left. So Nokia Care told me to reformat my card and reinstall the firmware. Which I had done previously so I did it again, they answered 3 days after that which was day 3 of my second week with it. So then I just added my pics and only 1 song to use as a ringtone and to play through the media player. So far that one song hasn't been erased nor have my pictures. Should it be safe to assume that all is well or should I just send it back and see if they will give me a new card? Hope you can answer me through here :)

Dear all, I was reading the comments by you. I own one of the N85 since March 2009. There were ups and downs with my phone. I would like to share them with you. 1. Within the second month, my N85 was cracked in between the "menu" & "c" keys. 2. It never "froze", as some of you commented. N-E-V-E-R. 3. Comparing to N95 is a bull shxt. N85 was "the king" (as they put it) in that era. But now, N85 has better options than that. 4. The camera is NOT the best among the 5 MPs, but is good enough for personal use (not professional). 5. After you upgrade your firmware, some of the problems are gone: a. Phone becomes faster b. Can recognise up to 16GB memory card c. Camera performance became better (even the flash is now better) d. N-gage games were not deleted e. Web browsing is faster & Wi-Fi is also faster (searching the Wi-Fi) f. I also updated to the latest version (30.101). Some claimed that it will make the phone recognise till 32GB card. I couldn't try because I couldn't find a 32GB card in my area. g. The gallery is faster (specially the zooming) h. Video recording is also better (better graphics) i. After the update, you will be able to set your phone's lock code up to 32 digit (yes, it is true) & not only that, it can be alpha-numeric (alphabet, number mixed). You don't have to set boring old 5 digit numeric phone code. Please note, the password is case sensative. j. I don't have the youtube viewing problem (flash works fine). Some of the things you should know (some of you): N85 is a smart phone, not all SE are. I am not telling that SE is bad. It is only the matter of preference. I like Nokia because of the Symbian OS. It gives me 30 days call log (including sms, mms, gprs use etc), extra ordinary phone book, detailed calender, syncronise with PC option etc. If you want to buy a SE, that is good. But you will NOT get a 30 days log, extra ordinary phone book. The sound quality in SE is better than Nokia, I agree. But SE is a company which has various business (SE camera, SE walkman etc) which they can merge into their phone. I like the camera & music in a SE, but don't like the OS. If you buy a low-end phone of SE & a high-end phone of SE, the OS is all the same (how's that). The FM Transmitter is a good tool, specially when you are driving a car with your friends/family. You just put the music on the go & everyone can hear it through your car radio. N85 doesn't have many problems as other Nokia phones. On that area, SE is better as it NEVER gets freeze (the reason is simple, the OS of SE is java). Anyway, my comment is turning into a review, which I don't want. i had a nokia n85 for the last almost 5 months . The only drawback is the quality of the front screen, which is really very sensitive to everything. It is easily scratched and finger smudges are very common. Other that this it is really a must have phone. Quality of the screen is unbelievable except viewing it on bright sunlight (Outdoor).

Tim: it should come up automatically if you have them added to your contacts (if not, it should come up as a mobile number). if all numbers show as private number calling then you have to call your phone provider and get them to turn on caller id for you.

I think that means that you have messages stored on your sim or memory. Go through your messages and see.

I've had mine for only 2 weeks and the only problem I've noticed so far with mine is that my music deletes itself from my memory card. Not my pictures though. Nokia told me to reformat the card and reinstall the phones SW. I was going to send it in for repairs but so far its been 3 days and my song hasn't been erased. I only put one to be sure that it's missing when and if it deletes. If that one song disappeares then I'll send it back. Until then, everything is great.

Hi people, I have had this phone for about a month now, and noticed small cracks on my phone's D-pad! I take such good care of it and still this happened! I don't rough handle it at all! My phone's key-pad collects dirt and I have to scrape it off every now and then. The build-quality is not very good at all! Good screen, good camera, great videos, but my speakers are VERY soft! Does anyone else suffer with this problem?

Nokia answered my email by telling me to reinstall the phone's software, make a back up of my stuff and reformat my card. Things I had already said I did and now for the forth time I'll have to back up my phone. Last time I lost my messages and calender alerts because even though the program said that it copied everything I reinstalled it and lost everything. Now I'm going to send it back and see what they say. Let you guys now when I get it back.

you need to press it on the home screen. When it says wlan found press it again an select the network u want to use and enter the wep key found on the modem. If you have trouble connecting then delete it from the settings menu and search for it again. Hope that helps. Also you can use the wlan wizard to help u find wifi connections.

Ok, I was going to wait for 4 more days to post a 2-week review but today I noticed something that I had to say. The build quality. I've owned sliders before (w705, 5610 xm, lg secret), so I know that sooner or later the slide leaves marks on the keyboard, but after 1 week 3 days my n85 has this one thick scratch under the 0 key. Its not a crack and I hope it doesn't become one, but I mean, come on!! I really hate it but I guess one good thing is that the memory card hasn't erased anything anymore. Hope I can get a new one if it gets more slits like that.

I see in official pics that it says Now Playing and it has a song and album cover. Mine says No songs in Now Playing and My music. Any idea?

good phone,only problem i had was getting it to install things,which was stubborn,but managed it. havent had much problems with it,comparing to other symbians alot less bugged than them,would recommend getting it,fyi: movie quality is damn brilliant on it :) for stereo sound a bit dissapointing though. not as loud as i thought it would be

You do not have to turn the phone off & again while mobiles hangs when playing the music just remove your headset from the phone & reattache it as I M having the same problem sometimes.

Yeah I think it was the themes. I installed a few on the memory card and the images appeared in my gallery. After deleting the theme the picture stayed in the gallery but couldn't be erased. It gave me an error saying it was unsafe to open the file. So I reformated the memory card. So far nothing has dissapeared. I installed 3 themes that I had installed on my mom's n95 and they havent caused any problems. Hopefully everything will be ok now. Ever since I reformated the card I only had one problem. Today my music didnt play, I had to turn it off and then it played. But thats it. Now its up to 8/10. If it doesnt mess up my pics then it could go up to a 9/10. I wanted the n86 but it hasnt reached my area yet and I didnt want to wait. Maybe later on I'll buy one :) enjoy it! I hope its a great deal after the n85 ;)

i used to have n85 now have n86,,anyhow i think these themes could be causing probs,,it does say on installing theme that it could harm your fone or fone is not compatible etc...If these themes have been causing nokias trouble that renders zedge and all third party themes redundant,,,it could be the cause of all the n-series ive had cause always used third party themes

do not buy this fone, normally this fone hangs alot, i am just listening to mp3 then when the fone rings it hangs, i could not answer the call and the vibrate does not stop and the only solution is to remove the battery, also when playing games. in the middle of the games it will hang(AGAIN!!!) so the battery needs to be remove again.. this is the worst mobile phone that i used. so i gonna sell it. while the camera is good, for video and picture. i think n79 is better, but i will go will e52.

This phone has been nothing but trouble for me since the day i bought it. I had it only a week and it began freezing up so i took it back and it was replaced. Its now since stopped working again (buttons wouldnt work and it kept freezing) Im very disappointed in this phone

Here's an update on my experience with this phone after one week (I think): The first days were great! Camera seems good, my mom's n95-3 still seems better though. I managed to set up share online and stuff for sending pics online :) then about 2 days ago I noticed ngage wasnt working properly. Nokia Care said I had to delete it and reinstall it. Still cant reset my account though, luckily I only had 2 demos xD. Then 5 songs and a ringtone magically dissappeared from my memory card!! Good thing I had created a backup but I decided to wait and see if that was due to a few themes I'd downloaded or if its the phone. I already have the newest fw according to nsu, reinstalled it just to be sure. I also recently reformatted the card and manually reloaded the pics since music isnt as important to me. Hopefully nothing else will happen. I haven't noticed any otger bugs except the ngage and music loss. And twice when loading the camera it gave me an error and I had to restart my phone :@ Also I noticed that Facebook mobile turned all white and I noticed a link at the bottom where it says Facebook C (copyright) does anybody else have that link? It seems like a status message from someone I dont know but when I click it it takes me to a blue Facebook page buy nothing comes up? Any feedback on that would be nice! Any ways to finnish off I can say that so far the glitches have made this go from a 9/10 to a 7.5/10. Hopefully a newer fw will change that ;)

Hey thanx for the info! I actually won't try to hack it yet cuz I don't want to mess up my warranty yet. I thought I messed it up after installing pixelpipe and freaked xD still thanks ans I'll read into it ;) One question to anyone: after I downloaded and installed some themes directly on the phone I tried deleting one and the only thing that erased is the .sis file in the download folder but the theme is still in the theme menu. How do I erase that? Thanks

Just bought mine today! So far so good, except for one minor detail: mine didn't come with a free activation code for an N-Gage game!! Mine is the n85-3 from mexico, could my country not have that free service? Anyways, I picked this over the c905 because the screen on the c905 looked awefull playing the demo video and the n85 looked great! Camera seems okay so far, haven't put it to testing yet but the few shots I took out side in the dark came out okay, I'll miss the xenon flash of the c905 but I think this has more to offer and a better looking screen :)

In response to the fading comment, there was a batch that I was told all had the same problem. Nokia customer care are replecing them all you need is the IMIE no other than that there has been very very few problems with this little beauty.

There is cheaper n79 or dearer n86 to consider too,,the w995 camera is poor and video record plus wen i used the audio it was not clear even tho they are advertising the clear bass function audio felt numb..The w995 is nice piece of kit but its not good at wat it does..I had n85 and now have n86 and n85 has all in one piece outside of d-pad and no clear buttons that did creak but by no means interrferred with operation and the screen is powerfull in colours,,you will want to look at all your pics,,themes and wallpapers again to check the colour.. This chap in one magazine took only n79 on weekend away with charger to do everything..He was also blogging from the event using pics and video and using facebook and twitter and keeping up and replying to emails..He used worldmate and a travel guide for th rest of his journey plus with google and wiki he coped the whole weekend without his laptop..This did not mean his battery lasted all weekend its just wat he thru at n79 it coped..Try that on w995?? So the n85 will build on that but with the best screen type available..Its your money in the end ...

I have had my N85 for a few months now, and to be very honest... It's awesome. It has all the features i'm used to from using Symbian phones for so long, plus more. i am, once again pleased with the 5 mega pixel camera. battery life has been pretty good so far. I use the phone mostly for calls and sms messaging during the day and can get 3 to 4 days battery life out of it. The FM transmitter feature is fantastic. I drive a lot, and this saves me from having to burn music cds to listen in my car. I have also installed the garmin software, and the GPS facility rocks! I recommend this phone to anyone looking at getting a 5*, no holds barred, feature rich, mobile phone. At the end of the day if you dont use half the features a phone has, you're wasting your money buying it!

How would you compare the camera to the n95-3? My mom has one and I'm planning on getting the n85 or the c905. Even though the n85 doesnt have a xenon flash I think with its dual-led flash, if its as good or better than the n95-3, should satisfy my camera needs. To me it is smartphone vs camera phone. The n85 has so much more but the camera is really important to me. So if its not as good as the n95-3 then I wont bother and just get the c905. Thanks for any answers!

I own a N85 for about 6 months. My opinion: If this was my first Nokia it would be the last one I ever buy. Since day 2 there were many scratches on the keyboard, which I dislike on a phone that cost me 450 euro and is labeled as a High End phone. Nokia Care repaired this twice but the problem kept returning. Living with that suddenly there was a large crack under the navigationbutton. Visited the Care Point once again, they wouldn't repair this. 'Please go somewhere else or pay for the repair'. This is unacceptable and I think not one costumer would like to be treated like that. But I went to another store and they took my phone for repair. They looked into some service bulletins and normally the store where I bought the N85 should have repaired my phone for free. As I said, I own my phone for 6 months but I could use it only for maximum 4 months. This is not what I expect from an N series phone. For now I use my simple 1661, knowing it won't fail me.

The reason is slow is because the memory card might be faulty or it needs a format. Backup everything on memory card to your computer and format it. You can also try and take out the memory card in order to see if it's still slow. Mine was super fast when I took it out, so I figured it was the card's problem and fixed it. Also, newest firmware is v30 now in case you don't have it yet. Cheers

I bought this model 3 days before posting this . I am a graphic designer and the daylight camera pics are commendable when import to photoshop :) . The Dual flash is also a plus. Music performance is average when compared to my previous xpress music, :( A slight muffling when plays through loudspeaker with some songs. The Xpress music was a king on this side. The 3D sound effect is impressive but i prefer play it max in 70% volume. The OLED display is awesome. What i hate :( is the brand new nokia hanged two times in the 3rd day. Did Anybody have the same problem? In my opinion it looks like a good package but need some reliability that we expect from nokia. Dear N85 users, Please share me your experiences, i will update mine later.

The other day I got to play around a little at the shop with the black version and it didn't lag at all. One thing is that I didn't see much of a difference between the screen with OLED, maybe I need to hold it next to another phone?? I didn't, however, get to check out the camera... anybody have a link to pictures taken with the NAM version? I need to check how good the pics come out in the day and outdoors, and if possible, in a restaurant or something with similar light conditions? I'm undecided between this and the SE C905.

had the phone for a little over seven months. i absolutely LOVED the camera. the video quality was amazing. however like a few other people have stated, it froze often for me and often exited out of applications on its own and had trouble reading my SIM. it eventually started deleting random numbers off of my sim card whenever it froze or whenever the battery died. i did however often use multiple applications at once but it should have handled it. plus within two weeks the speaker used for calls started to go out within two weeks of me having the phone... overall, if you dont call often or use multiple apps, and want an absolutely amazing camera... its great. i myself will not be buying another

HI Every1, Well i had da N85 4 a month now & dis is my review... 1.Very Poor processor speed 2.Often gets Stuck (N have 2 restart by removing da battery) 3.If U slighty load da phone,(apps,images,videos or music) da gallery gets very slow 4.Music Speaker volume is very low (but da Quality is good) 5.Camera Options r very limited & all da pics hav a yellowish colour wen taken(Overall a average camera) 6.Phone settings r very limited 7.Has 2 be charged everyday BUT!! Very nice phone. Has all the features. Im using it for talking and occasional web surfing, plus GPS navigation (10-40 minutes every day). I can go on one battery for 2-2.5 days. The only problem is power management.You really need to charge it every day, even if the power indicator is showing full charge. It can show that its full for 2 days and then battery just gone in 2 hours, device switches off. Also fast charging feature is confusing, you can charge battery very fast to 80% but it will loose charge in 2 hours. You have to wait until its says Fully charged.

ive owned this phone since jan 2009 and i think its absolutely fantastic. having owned an n95 previously and an n76 before that, this is by far the best; its loaded with features like the n95, and sleek and stylish like the n76. ive had zero problems with it apart from a cracked front casing sustained after a snowboarding accident (the oled screen was undamaged, luckily) but after taking the phone to a nokia care centre they replaced the defective front cover in about 10 minutes, charging me only for the new parts and not the service. if you're going to buy a phone, buy a nokia. and if you're going to buy a nokia, buy the n85. nuff said!

Some things I've noticed about my N85.. restarts itself regularly for no apparant reason quits out of web browser for no reason. calender alarms disappear if you miss them and the following 2 or 3 snoozes. circular scroll button works intermitently, so i've turned it off. other than that, i do like it. However I haven't had this many issues with any previous nokia model i've owned. This is my first N series though.

I bought 2 N85 on june 09, one for me and for my wife. this mobile is very sensitive, and need delicate care. I experiance problem in ear speaker then later days, it is broken and it cost $30 to fix. Callers always telling me that my voice is intermittent which means problem in the mic, same problem in my wife phone. I knew from the fix shop that speaker and mic causes many problems in all latest N series. I am totaly UNSATISFIED, and I intended to get rid of it.

hi eveyone!! about AMOLED I read that OMLED i.e. Organic light emitting diodes have very low life span i.e around 14,ooo hours of display as compared to TFT which has 60,ooo hours of display. So AMOLED screens can last at max 5 yeas if they are used for 8hrs daily.After that the OLED's will automatically become dead. Eeven wikipedia tells the same thing. So i jst want to know is this true with the screen of N85 as it is also using the same. plz reply... thnx in advance

hi there i bought the nokia n85 in june 2009 as a birthday pressie for my son, a civil engineer. he used it for a few hrs & the screen cracked.as the package was only opened 7 days after receipt the agent would not replace as the 7 day warranty had expired.he replaced the screen at a nokia agent for r 1500 & then made a single call and the screen carcked again. he did not bump or mishandle the phone. can anyone help - is there a fault with a certain batch of these phones ? as those with the older version/distribution of n85 are raving about this model.

I bought this phone a few days ago. here is my review: 1. Poor poor loudspeaker. My nokia 5300 is way better than this. 2. Headphn is not at all good. I am using a microlab one. I think my 5300 sounded a bit louder through that headphn. But the quality in nice jst like 5300. 3. camera is good enough, well obviously not like n82. thats the best nokia cameraphn. but its not at all bad. 4. OS is a bit slow. but nothing to worry. 5. Display is awesome. OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!! 6. Video playback quality is very good. 7. slidder is a bit wobbly. Not too comfortable. I will give it 8 out of 10. If u r looking for music thn look at other phones. certainly itz not gud for music.

Right guys a cheap and easy way to stop the slider wobble 1. Slide the phone up and turn it round, on the back place two strips of BLACK electrical tape one on top of the other (doubled up) make sure it's well stuck down though 2. slide it the other way and do exactly the same obviously you will have to cut the tape to fit It makes the gap between the two moving parts smaller thus reducing the movement SIMPLES!!!!

AMOLED stands for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode, the main difference between it and the ordinary TFT is that the AMOLED doesn't need any backlighting as every pixel lights up by its own, thus saving power and showing much much better resolution and more vivid colours. The only drawback of the AMOLED is that it gets washed off in direct sunlight, but for me it's not a big deal coz i rarely use the phone in direct sunlight, even if u had to do that u could easily cover the screen with ur hands!! Send the theme via bluetooth from the Pc to your Phone. (This is the simplest method for install games/themes/apps). Go to inbox, select the message and install the theme. When changing your themes go to general>personalization>themes. Hope this helps. If you want to know more details of how the symbian OS arranges your files, photos, music,themes etc. download and install Y-Browser on your phone.

Use earbud earphone from walkman, or earphone from another brand. it will lift up the bass and treble. trust me, just change ur earphone to that, the sound will be greater than before.. c",)

I think you have to insert your SD card in your pc/laptop and your guide directory in your card is (data-dowload) and after you installed the theme in your sd go to your (file manager) and [memory-data-download-and look for your themes you installed in... And installed it! If the theme claiming you an 'Expired Certificate' just go to your time setings and set the year by 2008/2007/2006 but if the themes is new no need to set your date year it will directly installed...

hi all, i just upgraded my n85 to firmware 30.019 well i wanna shared my impression. first, sorry for my poor english hehe. music player upgrade. well, i listen to music very often. when the player ran and i want go to list songs, the player not moving (like shaking down, u know what a mean hehehe). speaker sound upgrade. external speaker does not like broken speaker again. its not raises the volume, but sound more nicer. at previous,sound that came out from the speaker just like u play music from winamp with high preamp (left side from equalizer). email integration. nice, email notification show on standby screen. but, it isn't like ovi mail. turning control settings. now, n85 has silencing calls and snoozing alarms. to use it, just turn n85. when there a call, i turn the phone, suddenly it came to silent. alarm just like that. very good. the rest is i feel the camera get better performance, video also. :-) thanx.. maybe you can add more impression, anyone?

@shaun i think theres no way we can save a file in memory card after receiving a file in inbox but you can change the messaging setting to store in memory card so that the phone memory will not be full..
