Motorola Timeport L7089 - User Reviews

  • I detest this phone

  • leahhhhhh!!! this was my first ever phone!!!! i hated it.. i used to smash it of the ground to try and break it bcuz my mum told me i wasnt allowed a new one unless it wasnt workin, but it was like.. (imagine superman was a phone)this is superman!! totally unbreakable.. highly recommended if uv a habit of dropin ur handset or if u hav kidz:) looks great to! such an ariel!

  • why would anyone want to steal this phone? their loss lol

  • This wretched mobile looked fantastic but had weak signal pickup. Seriously, unless you're in a high strength area you aren't going to get continuous phone calls. Just forget it. I had more than one job offer imperilled by this. My high point owning this wretched tat was when it got stolen. My low point? Was when I claimed on insurance and they found me...another...L7089. Oh that glorious day when I got an upgrade to a Nokia 8210 and I could make proper phone calls again. I have never bought Motorola again from that day, nor do I intend to.

  • batterys on ebay

  • Best sound quality both on transmit and receive I've experienced. I like the menus, especially the quick menu. The roaming operator priority list was very handy - setup before travel and forget about keeping your costs down. Battery life could be longer - I always carried a spare. I had two of these, and they both occasionally had totally garbled sound on receive which corrected itself only after off/on switching.

  • You could also, hook this up, to a Casio E-105, using a Cable, to allow You, to make Data Calls. (As they would be known as, now.).

  • It also had a Feature, that told You the total time that You'd spend on the Phone called, "Call Duration". This included: Incoming Timer, Outgoing Timer, and Total Duration of all Calls.

  • Still work with the original battery!!!

  • mii mums first fone lol

  • how to lock this phone, cuz i cant loocked the phone, and i have the new one for this mobile, how long for charging this mobil until full charge..please tell me..ASAP...thanks

  • Your Manual can be found here: Which should also explain how to get missed calls.. which i believe will turn up under "Received calls". That you just never answered. ...-Am i right people? Three good things: Connectivity (Infra-Red, and cable, you could connect to a Casio E-105). Tri-Band(!!). The belt Holster that was included in the box.

  • how can i find miss calls on this phone? please help me

  • Please can someone help me out? i need the manual for the phone!! I like it too!

  • My dad had this.It came out in late 99.I am pretty sure about that.Anyway,it was an ok phone but the voice calrity was pooor.

  • i had this phone for 6 years. what is great about it is that of all the phone i had (probably over 20) this one has the BEST network signal reception. it can get at least 2 bars in areas that are considered "dead spot" if ur using a nokia. i hope nokia would make a phone with an external antenna 'cause i love nokia but my network has bad signal.

  • great phone

  • Person below, it was introduced in 1999, not 2000

  • For the comment bellow. Can you read buddy? The phone was anounced in 2000. 6 years ago. How can it be that you are using it for 10 years? Mathematics problems?

  • I've had mine for over 10yrs and guess what?? I still use it everyday and have used it in every country with GSM. It does everything you would need a 'phone' to do. It's got features that are still considered good for this present day...voice dialling, voce recording, e-mail, modem etc and most importantly the sound and clarity is brilliant I guess i'll be using it till it dies on me and looking at the number of yrs it's been working on it's original battery, I wonder for how much longer???????

  • Was my very first contract phone when I was 18.. absoloutely fantastic it was and Still have it now for when I feel nostalgic.

  • Its a great phone, Ive had mine for 3 years now and it works great. Its a bit complicated so I wouldnt recommend it for first time users.

  • I own a Motorola timeport L7089 that I haven't been able to use since mid 2003 because the cellphone carrier went out of business after 3 months of usage. QUESTION: Does anyone know of a cellphone carrier in the 510 area code[San Francisco,CA Bay Area],where this cellphone can be used?

  • My samsung got run over. Don't ask. I put my sim in the L7089 and entered old code. Now phone says Please wait to enter to enter special code. I do not know where the manual is. I remember that is a combo of numbers and symbols. And press a key in a certain order. Any help. The vendor I brought the phone from over three years ago is gone.

  • I still use it... it's really cool

  • OK phone spoilt by a lousy user interface. e.g. power button takes so long to switch on you think it hasn't worked, press it again and in fact switch it off again. I mean it takes about three seconds to react. Also doesn't display the address book name for a known sender on an incoming SMS. Switching between upper/lower case is awkward (have to hold a letter key down for second or two). etc. etc. Protruding antenna can be uncomfortable in your pocket. Infrared port is good to have though, if you can manage to get any software to talk to it from a modern PC. If only there were a firmware upgrade with user interface fixes, this could be a good phone.

  • Fed up surfing looking for someone to unblock my timeport. Anyone out there know where I can get the job done?

  • I Need instruction manual 4 my L7089 can you help please.

  • I am looking for a users manual for Motorola C200

  • Hi, please, can any one send me the 8 digit to to use my L7089 .

  • Does anyone know of the special code to unblock my motorola L7089?

  • please can someone tell me the special code for entering another sim card in to timeport L7089

  • Where can i get a manual for this phone. Just tried clicking on "Manuals" on this site and can only get non-English.

  • its a wonderful wonderful li'l phone.....i love it...its just what i need

  • I've done everthing with this phone...data link, soft GSM, smart cell, Unlocking (so it will work even in Thailand!!),infa red, USB and Serial port and PCMCIA conncetions with fast internet access software enhanced at about 24k (but actually still only 9.6k). It is simply the best phone of its time. Its also the cheapest , once connected to your laptop buy a virgin (UK) sim card 15p per min for 3 mins then 5p per min thereafter anytime!! Pay as you go too!! thats 3-30 per hour (and 3 thereafter) for wireless internet...cheap!!! this phone is simply the best for its time you can doc so much with it if you know how. If you would like to know email me...

  • how do get the phone to be on vibrate mode.

  • I'm looking for a users manual for my second hand timeport L7089....even a photo copy, anyone out there that can help me? I can't even discover how to add names to the address book......help!!!

  • it' o.k small and light but i think it should have had a tone composer. there is no much difference from talkabout

  • Iam for interesting for manuals and userguides for Motorola Timeport L7089

  • I want to know the special code when i'm plug new sim card.

  • Do you sell the Motorola Timeport L7089 sim free? Please can you tell me how I can purchase one online.

  • This fonr sux.The buttons r hard to press,my fingers hurt when i try to write an sms.The reception is VERY bad.U always get disturbance while talking even when u r outside. The ringtones r bad.The backlite display is bad.Overall, another crap from Motorola.I am never going to buy another motorola again.

  • i need the manual for this model

  • Is it possible to communicate with the computer? If yes, where can I buy a data cable?

  • Design is sleek. It is not squarish and sharp like Siemens and some others. It is lightweight compared to it's size which is reasonable. It has excelent signal and battery is good too. Menus could be better and alarm is missing but you can't have everyting at such a low price. In Phone Setup->Entry Method Selection you can select iTAP and you will have predictive typing. Only thing I dislike is Motorola web site which is poorly organized and lacks some vital information about phone (like technical specifications - what is the bit rate at IrDA port for example?)

  • este cel mai bun telefon din cate am avut si nu vreau sa ma mai despart de el. il am de un an si jumatate. Daca avea si alarma era telefonul ideal.

  • I love my phone and all but can't seem to find anyone who sells the battery for it. Any help?

Tambahan lagi, menunya rada-rada njelimet! Aku musti baca manualnya baik-baik en hapalin. Coba fiturnya lengkapin lagi en menunya ngga mbingungin pasti deh laku keras! Bayangin aja, nih ponsel udah triband, voice dial, voicenote, voice record, waw! plus ada IR port segale! plus vibrate-nya itu loh! aku butuh yang kaya gitu, soale aku khan biker. Trus, komplit ama HF-nya! Wah, sayang kalo gue aku jokul! Ngga bakal!

  • PROS: shortcuts menu, voice notes, a very easy to use In-call menu, appealing design, big screen and, last but not least, an inexpensive tri-band phone. CONS: Cannot create customized names for not-in-the-list network codes, no predictive text, not many ringtones. If you need predictive text and WAP, the Motorola P7389 has them. SUGGESTION: buy a cover for this phone. Its surface scratches easily.

  • The menu is wonderfully customizable on this phone. You create a "short" menu set, which as only selected options. The quick command button (arrow up) is great.. with a customizable tool bar. BIG FRICKING STUPID THING: You have to press both the star and the pound key simultaneously to lock it=NO ONE HANDED OPERATION. Nokia (or any flip) is far superior in this respect. I didn't find the predictive typing either. someone correct me if I'm wrong, i read the entire manual..

  • i think it is great plus i have the internet but i can't get access the internet

  • Nice Size and Weight. Slim. Love that it is tri-band. I would like the phone much more if I didn't find it so complicated to find the features, and use the features. Nokia's menu system is designed MUCH better!

  • este un telefon foarte eficient, dar nu gasesc card kit-ul.Va rog, trimiteti-mi informatii despre acesta.Va multumesc anticipat.

  • too bad it doesnt have alarm on it!! Poor design but a really nice phone with many features.

  • Good features on a badly designed phone!

  • can't find an alarm on mine.

  • Could you tell me the Screen Display in pixels for the L7089? Is it 96x32pixels, or 96x54pixels? Please reply as soon as possible!!!

  • I tested Timeport for a week. No T9!!! Irda worked fine with WinCE PDA. I guess it's a good phone but it felt a little like a toy, imho.
