O2 XDA Graphite - User Reviews

  • There are Probably hundreds of thousands of Handsets rolling of the production line, your's must be a rotten egg,

  • Had this phone from new for about 9 months and its falling to pieces. Buttons are almost totally unresponsive, the soft keys literally just fell off one day, and whenever i try to turn on the wi-fi it complains that its missing a network card?? i assume some component has broken off inside the phone... Also, this seems to be the least supported phone ever. There are very few apps available for it (although googles suite works well) and windows mobile in general is just a nightmare and makes everything far too complicated. A great design and features, but severely let down in my case by the OS and build quality.

  • Start -> "*" -> "#" -> press 3 -> chose ENG.(first line)

  • i dont know how to change my phone language to english because it chinese, please help me

  • I loved this phone. This is the best phone with that spec for that form factor. The time I used it, it never gave me trouble in terms of the software or hardware. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Windows Mobile phones.

  • I want to know more details on O2 XDA Graphite Mobile handset. Please let me know the method of using this handset. Kindly mail me at the foolowing [email protected]

  • pls confi my phone 4 me, sent me d setting.

  • This is the worst phone I've had. I've had this phone since February this year (2008).When I first got it the contacts only worked occasionally and I had to continually remove the battery and restart it. Now the back and right select buttons have stopped working and its impossible to do anything. .i.e. Making Phone calls and sending txt msgs are almost impossible. The battery also doesnt last long enough especially when you have cant close applications from the application and they run in the background unless you check. I will be returning my phone and requesting a refund not a replacement!!!!

  • This a very good phone.. for good people

  • how to set wifi in graphite? my device cant connect to the wifi... please help me

  • i m using graphite since one year and i think i m expert of it....... you can try these sites for cool stuffs for your mobile www.mobile9.com www.zedge.com njoy

  • I bought my graphite last january 08 at O2 shop Plasa Marina Sby, on march 08 my graphite can't read memory card.Since march 29th till now my phone is on service center due to the warranty. But they can't finish yet All the problems mentioned previously not happen to mine

  • I have Asian O2 Graphite . its WM6 . I upgrade this from modaco.com help

  • this is wonderful phone. but better performance after installing wm6 upgrade.

  • had the phone for a year, and found it to have everything i could possibly need on it...however, i did have to replace it 3 times before i got one that had all the parts working correctly!! Even now i still have some software issue, but apparently these can be ironed out with a firmware update. Great phone, shame about the software flaws, and poor battery, but basically is better than most phones that are newer than itself. So you have to ask yourself a question...do you want a phone that does everything, but occassionally freaks out, or do you want a phone that does half a job, but works every time? Personally, i wouldnt change my phone, just wished they could have ironed out a few things before releasing it. Look at is as an "arcade" version of a blackberry.

  • awesome!!

  • you can use a memory card i have you just take the battery out and theres a little slot above the sim card the memory card goes in there

  • I have recently purchased O2 Graphite. However, I am having trouble connecting to Internet via Wi-Fi. Whenever I tried connecting Internet, the connection takes place via GPRS. The connection defaults to GPRS and there's no option of connection by Wi-Fi. Can someone please help me?

  • Hi, All, can I use O2 XDA Graphite for Blackberry Connect Service?

  • I have been using this device for months.. it has all the features and more that an average PDA user can possibly require. The design doesnt make me look like an absolute dork carrying half a brick in my pocket. Its been serving me just fine... any one else out there with positive experience?

  • Has anybody tried a different OS on this phone other than windows mobile?

  • watch the rebranding of phones guys. You might think you can switch to another phone and you get something the same. O2 has the same phones but different names in regions eg. did you know the atom life is called the o2 xda comet in Germany. same phone. If you care to check this site under o2 atom life and then do some random internet searches for o2 atom life you will see just how many users have been having problems with this phone.

  • I forgot to mention as a warning to those even in the slightest considering buying an Atom XDA life pda phone or the atom exec or any pda, added to the list below. the phone is not as fast as the makers claim in fact its bloody slow! and the phone freezes constantly. I mean, the phones buttons stopped working soon after i bought the phone. This phone is extremely poor and i would encourage people to start making videos and posting to sites like youtube and getting out there that O2 need to be taught a consumer backlash and lesson about rolling out highly overpriced products (I paid AUD$1150 for my O2 life x 2). SEE MY VIDEO Cheers

  • Guys .. you should see the reviews of the O2 atom, the O2 exec and especially the O2 life. Do a simple search eg. o2 atom life then add user reviews, complaints, problems, issues etc. in google. wow. i was amazed. Id bought 1 atom exec, the phone had problems then i bought another 2 atom xda life phones for my business and the longest life i had out of the 3 phones is 4 months. I mean this xda pda had everything go wrong from loose screen, to buzzing speakers, no sound, constant hard resets, dropouts of calls, poor battery, poor photos etc. then i searched to see what others were saying about the O2 atom life and i couldnt believe it. Not only is the phone getting a roasting on this website but check out zdnet australia, cnet asia and cnet and mobile asia and other websites and you will see the o2 phones are rating below 5 out of 10 with a LOT OF ANGRY users out there. check youtube.com and you will see videos being put on there eg. search O2 atom life

  • I don't agree with the revies here. very nice phone. 3g, wifi, media player , what else you expect from this tiny phone !!

  • this phone is a waste of time, had it for 1 day and after having a trion, this was somewhat of a comedown, cheap desighn

  • Agree with a recent post. This was released early. The phone would 'go to sleep' and needed hard reboot, sometimes actually taking the battery out. Happened for me maybe twice a week. I downloaded and upgraded activ sync and also to mobile 6. The problems have virtually disappeared. I have had mobile 6 for about 8 weeks and I have re-booted phone twice. (second time yesterday). It is a real breeze to use data connected to laptop... or pc. I have used both USB lead and bluetooth, works fine... activ synch has to be on laptop/pc you are using but basically turned off for synching. Then you just click internet sharing and click connect (on handset). That is all there is too it. No other settings at all, just open browser and it works... or use remote desktop on laptop to connect into your another system. It is also a shame that O2 themselves (tech support and cust services) do not seem to know much about this phone. You won't be disappointed but get win mob 6 on it straight away!

  • I disagree with the reviews here. I had problems with it locking up, but I installed the firmware upgrade (WM6) from the 02 website about 2 months ago and it hasent crashed since ! Its a great phone that was released with some software bugs, but these have been fixed, mine is great. At the moment, for the money there is no better windows mobile smartphone.

  • A terrible phome. I have had it for 5 months. Synching is frustrating (now have up to 10 entries for same contact because it replicates entries when synching), battery life poor, volume is low, connection to bluetooth is hopeless, and constant re-booting required to fix coverage issues. This phone is not fit for purpose - O2 should take them back and refund the money. I will never buy an O2 again.

  • This is the absolute worst phone I have ever - EVER - owned. There are the reconnect errors, the battery faults, the drop calling, failure to send texts, SIM and networks erros are common. Sre the fnctioanlity is great, but on a typical day I have to reboot my phone over ten times. I am starting to go crazy with this plasticy piece of rubbish. DO NOT BUY ON THE BASIS OF THE GIZMO's. THE PHONE WILL NEVER WORK

  • This is best phone,,,,,,,,,,,, I LOve O2 Graphite, does anyone know where i can download free games or cracked games for o2 graphite?

  • most the comments i have read i seem to dissagree with apart from the battery life... iv not had problems with my wireless, sms, mms or any of the features.... but i do seem to have problems when connectin to my networks becuase it never seems to remember my wireless key :/ i give this phone 7/10 for the good features and accesablity but there are still a few little problems which will more then likely be fixed when the new Xda phone comes out

  • ...forgot to mention... TomTom ONE will not connect to it. TomTom says "the phone you are trying to connect to does not support this feature" OMG!!!! Am using my old Nokia 6230 for now.

  • My Graphite is going back... I have not yet found a phone that can send me a file via Bluetooth - they all get the message "connection failed" The O2 headset I got too has trouble with the phone. I pair it, and it works for a while. After 10+ mins I press the "talk" button on the headset, and I no longer get the "say command" prompt. I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again. Also WiFi. I have an Access Point, which the phone will not work with - always complains about lack of signal strength, even if I stand on top of the Access Point! My PSP works fine with the AP! Also - texting, sometimes the space button decides not to bother working. All a bit sad really. Gonna try the N73. I know this has problems too, but may as well give it a go.

  • God I wish I had read this before committing to the XDA Graphite!! All the problems mentioned previously seem to apply to my phone too (particularly battery, connections, picture messaging etc). I previously had the O2 XDA mini S which was a great phone, but too bulky. I was expecting the Graphite to be more powerful and a better size for everyday use. My advice would be to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!!

  • I had been using this phone since Feb 2007. bought mine in Singapore. I am satisified with the phone...battery is good even after playing a full 2-hour movie. pictures taken from it's camera are excellent, reception is ok...i;m satisfied except for it's soft sound while playing mp3's...

  • I wonder if WM 6 will make this phone's performance better. To anyone who have tried it. Any comments?

  • UK WM6 update now available. Don't think it will work on non UK devices :-(

  • Poor signal reception and very poor battery life. Software management is also very limited and poor. Did not meet high expectation from an O2 phone. Could have done better. Very disappointed after using the O2 Mini!

  • Terrible phone, worst i've owned to date. Similar problems to everyone else, poor battery, weak phone signal, takes an age to pick up a dropped phone signal, hangs, Wi-fi seems to only register 2bars of signal strength regardless of being close to transmitter, rarely able to browse using wi-fi, screen now has black marks over the middle where lcd has failed, A2DP only transmits in MONO to stereo BT headset, screen unreadable in outside daylight. On the plus side, it is light and when it works the call voice quality is clear. I can't believe that with all these complaints, the phone is averaging an 8.4 score! DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, IT IS RUBBISH.

  • im the O2 Phones Mania...tru my experience using all the O2 models, i can only comment that only 2 models are not satisfying me. they r Xda Stealth and Graphite. especially xda graphite, it has bad signal reception, poor battery life, often to hang without any reason hence i need to put off the battery many times.

  • The phone is dreadful. Sure, it's a powerful PDA features, 3G and small / light. it ends there. battery life poor. a day at best with moderate use. lose signal and you have to power cycle for a reconnect. mid way through a call it'll freeze and you have to pop the battery. I miss calls too cos the ring volume is very quiet - calls on speaker are too quiet. camera is 2Mg but fuzzy in all but the brightest of days. Screen brightness is limited to dull grey days or indoors. if the sun comes out you're screwed. It needs more volume, a firmware improvement to address the coms reconnect issue after poor signal return. buy this phone again no way recommend it to others - sure... NOT!

  • works great for me...battery life is good (2 to 3 days - much better than my spv c500). can access wifi signals...although they are right it hang-up sometimes..

  • this a warning to all those who are planning to buy o2 devices in the future! beware! I am from India. I was happy using O2 phones such as the XDA II and the Atom so I decided to go in for another. I purchased an O2 XDA Stealth on Feb 12th 2007 and had immediately regretted the decision as I started facing a hell lot of problems in the device. Almost after a month of correspondence with O2 they sent me a replacement handset. I was happy until i opened the new unit. It had the same problems and some new. Again after long talks with O2 (Mr Keanu) they sent me another replacement promising me that this would work but it did not. Naturally I was very angry and frustrated. At this stage I ahd lost all faith in the Stealth and demanded O2 to give me some other handset for all the inconvienience that I have faced . After a series of talks with O2 Singapore(Mr Keanu) I received an Atom Exec. But my problems worsened! After a couple of days the Exec "died" ie it would not charge. when the charger was connected it would show full battery and when disconnected it would switch off and not switch on for days. Highly annoyed and frustrated I began my talks again with O2 and at the same time bought the O2 Zinc. That was another error from my side as the Zinc also had problems. Its indicator LED malfunctioned and the microphone gave out static. Those were horrible times for me having two defective handsets. O2 finally agreed to replace both these handsets and they did. So I have already used 3 Stealths, 2 Atom Execs and 2 Zincs. That adds up to 7 O2 phones in about five and a half months!!! Well things dont end here. once again I am having problems with the Zinc such as the LED is malfunctioning, the speaker switches on automatically when a call is made, the speaker dies out, screen freezes..etc.. So to all those who are planning on investing their money on an O2 device please do not as the quality of O2 devices is degrading day by day and is no longer dependable as it once upon a time was. if any of you want to know bout the problems i faced in these many devices please contact me on +919884414907

  • just wondering that how come so many complaints while the voting results r that high??

  • i dont see any LED status indicator in this graphite unlike most windows mobile phones..is there a light that blinks like wen u'r connected to the network?

  • i found this battery at digimemcards.co.uk and battery life is great

  • I have this phone and initially the battery life was terrible. Most handsets these days do not need the 24 hour charge before you use it, but this phone does. if you give it a good 24 hour charge it will last for days with no issues. Apart from that a little awkward to use for anyone moving from a standard handset but functionality is great.

  • help, anyone know how to assign ip address manually to this device?

  • TomTom 6 should work. Anyone have any idea about the battery? I hardly use the phone in the day and the battery gets hammered. All wi-fi, bluetooth etc are turned off. Very annoying..did someone say theirs lasted a few days?

  • this phone is aweful, our company inflicted them on us. Im going as far to say I am now going to spend my own money on getting another phone rather than put up with this piece of junk. DO NOT BUY THIS FONE FOR ANY REASON bad battery life (1day max) bad reception phone freezes for no reason, fix by removing battery in bad signal areas with no reception it reports reception, in areas with great reception it reports none and wont let you make calls. your better off with 2 tin cans and a bit of rope

  • to kini, if i was you i wouldnt buy it...

  • will somebody please guide me without any contradictions as to how the phone is. I am seriously contemplating to go for one.

  • I conclude that there is a reconnection problem whenever this phone encounters a weak signal. Sometimes it can reconnect but with no guarantee. Most of the time I have to turn it off/on to re-establish a connection. This is the third handset replacement O2 gave me but with the same problem. One example of reconnection failure was when I arrived in the office, my O2 XDA 2i (with a pay as you go O2 SIM in it) registered 4/4 signal strenght while this phone has no connection (this is indicated with a "slashed circle" beside the antenna icon), I have to turn it on/off to re-establish a signal which registers 4/4 after that. If I am on a weak signal area, although the XDA Graphite will register 1 to 2 bars but quite often I encounter call/SMS failure. I missed several important calls/SMS because of this. Its really a shame because apart from that problem, everything works fine (active sync, bluetooth, wifi, skype application, etc). I'll be returning this phone & will get a Nokia E65 instead.

  • To the person who works for O2 or anyone that can help me. I've just recently got the graphite and think it's a great phone. it met one of my requirementsm which was a phone that still looked like a phone but worked like a PDA. it is a powerful phone. However, I have one wee problem. I have a legitimate piece of software but when I try to install it I get the error message 'Access denied. The program cannot start because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate'. yes it is a legitimate piece of software, brought and paid for and did work on previous phone. any suggestions appreciated.

  • Phones is most irritating, i cant connect to any wireless networks(secured or unsecured), and if a do it doesnt browse. Thier is a buzzing in the earpiece while making calls similar t when u pu the phones next to an external speaker or radio. I love everthing else on this phone but the wifi and earpiece make this phone worthless. Hopefully its just this handset.

  • After I did "Hard Reset", If I choose "Tone" for the keypress sound there's no sound at all. But for "Click", still okay. Help please...

  • There is definitely a problem with this phone reconnecting after losing the signal- I need to turn it off then back on, which is annoying. On the plus side, this phone is Bluetooth v2.0 so it does support a2dp. Also has a 2.5mm headset port

  • Had to return the phone after a week & I got a replacement but still the same problem, poor performance on weak signal areas (compared to my other 5 phones). I also noticed it cannot reconnect right away. I thought my XDA2i was the worst in terms of signal performance but this phone is the most terrible. I think when they design this phone they forgot to put an antenna (that is the most logical answer I can think of). The phone is too good to be smashed and thrown away, Ill just call O2 tomorrow and tell them to put a cellular transmitter right beside my house.

  • a2dp support? yes

  • does the bluetooth support A2DP?

  • In addition to my previous comment. Screen quality is very good indoors. Step outside into moderate sunlight and the screen is almost totally obscured. Would i buy this phone again? No, i think there are better phones out there.

  • I've had this phone for 2 months now. Battery life=Not bad (About 2/3 days average usage) but will drain very very quickly when using Wi-Fi. Battery seems to last longer if you use mains charger as opposed to USB charging. Build Quality=Nothing special. Battery cover is flimsy and buttons seem to 'float' around a bit. Joystick temperamental when selecting 'up'. General Design=Camera/video quality is very good. Sound/call quality is good if a little quiet. Usage=I think there are better quality phones on the market but this isn't a bad phone. One infuriating problem is that the "cancel call' button sits higher than the '3' key so i keep canceling as i'm texting. V. annoying.

  • i've had one of these for 2 months now. good phone, excellent balance of weight, dimensions, quality of components. you need to be a little careful with battery life if you use it all day (i do, email/mp3/phone/web/wifi), but it's a great replacement in my view

  • I have the Graphite and fromn what I can tell, you cant use TomTom Mobile5. I have been on to TomTom and they said they have no earthly idea if and when it will be updated !!!

  • I actually work for O2 and test all handsets we release in the xda range i tested the graphite for over a month and it was a great little phone the only one problem seemed to be the volume apart from that no problems. Recommended!!

  • Thinking of buying a Graphite but could someone please tell me if you can edit word and excel documents, or can you just view them? Also, can you install SatNav? Thanks

  • Graphite or N73 which one has better screen and stereo speaker of graphite are like N73

  • Does anyone know if i can use TomTom5 with the Graphite?

  • thinking of purchasing this phone. but need to know if the camera has a macro functn. help appreciated. thks

  • hi.just wanna ask these: 1) is it a dual cam? if yes,can I use the front cam for taking pictures or is it the same as most nokia wherein the front cam is only for 3G and not for taking pictures? 2) can the ringing tone and message tone be set to true tones or real mp3 songs? im trying to buy one. thanks!

  • I plan to return this phone. I've noticed that when you lose signal (while in the tube) it doesn't always re-engage when you get reception again. Sometimes it comes back, but sometimes not. In order to get your sync connection back, you have to cycle the phone. I don't think that's acceptable.

  • I just got this phone today and so far like it quite a lot. I've previously had the O2 mini S (too big) and the T-mobile Dash (in the US), but really prefer the smaller size of the Graphite. The first thing I noticed is that it's fast! The display is bright and reasonable size considering the size of the phone. I also like the keys. They are big and have a nice if not stiff feel. Not glamorous, but very solid. Does anyone know if it can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6?

  • Had this similar problem before. A hard reset had solved it. Back up all your data and programs first and then restored them back worked for me.

  • After using an O2 orbit sync with business server 2003 and no problems. I changed to a Graphite and now keep getting error messages 0x8501001 and 0x80072F00 from the server and cannot connect. Any ideas how to fix the problem as our IT dept can't regards Stewart

  • just ordered this phone online today note to potential buyers you probably wont be able to buy it from your local o2 store, i tried. Only the big buissness stores have them in stock. Bugger with online ordering is I HAVE TO WAIT!!! I want this phone now, looks immense.

  • Anyone knows if this phone include A2DP and AVRCP in its bluetooth? I want to hear & control my music through bluetooth stereo headset.

  • Just bought this phone last sunday then i return the next day due to : -I cant here the other party im calling. -Backlight never turns off. -Cant connect to WiFi. After replacement had try all the functions and seems to be ok...Nice phone with 3G/Wifi/Mp3 ring and message tone and a nice cam with flash....The only problem ive observed is , The battery drain so fast when using wifi...

  • wanna know if any1 here owns this phone. if yes could sum1 elaborate if this smart phone is gd. im cnsidering this phone more then e65. right now im considering this phone and d810. hope sum1 can give me more info on this phone. really appreciate it. thanks :)

  • i just want to check out if this phone have the built-in wifi in cause i check with some websites it states that this graphite dont have!!!!

  • Here's a review: if only I knew how to translate it into English. . .

  • Anybody knows if there's already a review available on the net? This seems like a perfect device for me.

  • does anyone know if it has built-in chinese pinyin support for south-east asean models ?

  • Check-out this article (http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3561) about this phone's availability in Singapore this February. Cost is S$ 798 (US$ 520/400 Euro).

  • now i find really fastest smart not pda which has all connection features i wanna buy it

  • www.mypocketpcmobile.com says that this phone lacks buit-in Wi-Fi. I'm confused...

  • When it launch to make my dream come true...

  • Really nice smart one! If some one has more info as pics, ~price etc. will be thankfull. :) Cheers.

  • finally my dreams come true. i have been waiting this kind of smartphone (not PDA) since long time ago. this phone was preety pretty good and amazing...... fast processor 416MHz, good camera (2MP), wi-fi b/g, 3G function, WCDMA support, WM5 OS, stereo speaker. correction, the bluetooth is version 2.0 instead of v1.2. it will be more PERFECT if O2 add on the functionality of FM Radio reception and enhance the battery life to Li-Ion 1250mAH

  • this phone is with card slot see the link n select view full specs

  • Why this phone without card slot?

  • yeah, a new version of the xda iq/orion, better camera and 3g aswell, wonder how much it's gonna cost

  • O2 site says it is microSD expandable.

  • o2 must stick to the atom style phones i am waiting for o2 flame and apollo
