Oppo Reno Z - User Reviews

  • Earpiece sound quality is not good

  • But still... you can’t root this phone, nor can you install gcam.

  • will this phone get Android 10?

  • Lies and propaganda! MTK is the best priced chips on the market, only thing cheaper may be Unisoc but they are still stuck in 2014 with their 28nm unlike MTK which has 12nm which is AMAZING!!! O3O

  • mdtk chips just bs.. no gcam*****, no custom roms, weak wifi, being hot......... the phone need just a goddamn snap 660

  • there is no way to install gcam on reno z ? i wish it just had a snap 660 or even 630, without gcam, phone is nothing...

  • Oppo Reno Z vs Huawei Mate 20, any opinions? Huawei about $140 more..

  • Oppo Reno Z vs Huawei Mate 20, any opinions? Huawei about $140 more..

  • I have the same dude on week ago, but at the end I'm falling in love with the amoled screen. But at the same price...mate 20 is a better deal

  • I have oppo reno Z since a week anf I'm happy with it. My last device was an 3 years old honor 8 and the performance is similar, a bit better in oppo reno z. Pros: the screen, the sound of double speaker, the battery life and the jack 3,5mm (and Fm radio is on my device, europe version) Contras: camera app is ugly and simple, i can't disable google and chrome apps, so ok google is always ready to start. Battery stats are poor (no graphics, no screen on time) But I have paid less of 300€, so It's good price for the quality of this oppo mid range device. PD: I have august security google patch, no bad, similar to honor with the updates. Sorry for my english ;)

  • Is this phone going to get Android 10? Don't want to buy it, if its not...

  • I would go with the oppo reno z. Mediatek p 90 is an excellent chip. Used to own a huawei. Kirin processor gets warm when im playing games.

  • Frankly my opinions after watching the reviews as i can say is the oppo reno z is awesome evethau it doesn't have the motorized pop up camera eventha the selfie notch camera is unpleasing to other user, everyone has there taste on that but i like the fone its epic on a midrange phone,,,😊😊😊&amp;#128076;👌

  • Just got the phone today from Sydney, Australia. The phone is amazing value for $420 ( Ebay 20% off sale brought the price down). Screen size is what I was after and quality is top notch. 128Gb /8gb Ram model came with headphones and fast charger.Another plus for me is the battery size. Camera could be bit better but it still takes amazing photos. Phone definitely feels snappier and no lag. Upgraded from LG G6. Also using Honor 10.

  • i want to buy this phone but the huawei mate 20 is on sale with the same price.. anyone pls tell me which is worth buying pls.. not a techie here. thanks

  • can i uninstall facebook from this device?

  • Australian Model. CPH1979 128GB storage, actual size 109GB Fingerprint and facial recognition software is very good and precise. Battery drain is noticeable. About 5% per hour. The big bonus is the charger as the charge times are dramatically dropped to just 30 minutes to charge 30%. ColorOS and built in apps are a nice style to see and is user friendly coupled with Android Pie. But unlike other brands has had no security updates since 05/07/2019. The sound hardware coupled with a bluetooth speaker is ordinary. Camera is average even know the specs say the camera is 48mp. OPPO have the phone already with a protective screen film but that scratched very quickly. Their is a protective gel case that comes with the phone. Its good and does the job.

  • Oppo heared the customers and put the headphone jack back

  • This phone does not have mobile net work speed

  • How do you expect dolby atmos to work via a bluetooth speaker if the speaker does not have atmos itself?

  • Bought this phone yesterday, hopeless sound system, no Dolby Atmos feature with Bluetooth speakers, but very quick cpu, camera takes nice pictures and yes takes acceptable night time photos. Can't have any txt or email icon notifications on the locked screen except time and date and a little icon of a phone with no number of calls missed like other android systems. Very good copy speeds from computer to mobile for any type of media. Soon as you pick the phone up the fingerprint sensor appears so its possible to put a 9HD glass protector on but comes with factory applied screen protector which is a bonus. They say you get what you pay for but this company OPPO has gone above and beyond in features for the price.

  • fantastic mid ranger here in Aus. (We get 8gb model) Works well with 4G and wifi. no issues at all, very happy

  • I have no issue with wifi at home or work. maybe your router is bad, then again I'm using mesh lol

  • I agree with the pros! Not so much with the cons. The charger isn't that bulky. I do think that VOOC accessories are not as easily available as Qualcomm or Apple accessories

  • Which country are you in? I would stop posting here and go to an Oppo store or contact their support team. It's better than discouraging people to buy a great phone!!

  • i have been using this phone for 2 weeks Pros: beautiful display and colors compared with other super amoled and ips displays awesome stereo sound with Dolby able to run most game on high settings with no problems great, solid camera, no gimmicky features very little bloatware apps Color OS is fine Glass Front and Back, solid feel on hand Free Case Cons: water droplet selfie blocks part of your screen estate wifi not as strong as other major brands the charger adapter is bulky VOOC charging only, cant share your friend's qualcomm quickcharge

  • this phone is a must forget phone , wifi weak

  • oppo reno z when Released mobile store

  • Yes it does

  • What network are you on? I'm on ee and minds absolutely fine!

  • The absence of SD -CARD was a downer for me !! However thank you for your review, this is a major issue !!

  • I think your unit might have an issue, line has better reception than my previous phone which was a Huawei p10 plus

  • when it is launching in india

  • Yes

  • Is this phone released?

  • Ok so I'm in the UK. I couldn't exert my patience and ran out and purchased the UK model. Nice phone but with major flaws. Color Os is buggy/ugly/laggy. UK model only has 4gb. The phone has very weak reception, lte/4g speeds are abysmally slow and the phone loses reception all the time. This is VERY irritating and annoying. Apart from that, the phone is nice. Screen, finger print sensor, sound Volume levels, battery life etc are great. But the reception issue is a major major major flaw. I was literally stuck without reception/internet today for over 2 hours as the phone was just not picking up signal. My friend who was with me, has a honor 10 lite, and he had full reception and 4g - we were both on the same network :/

  • Got the Aussie version and love it. Fantastic value for the money and the camera is brilliant

  • For people want to know full network specification: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/6/8/19 LTE FDD: Bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/18/19/20/26/28 LTE TDD: Bands 38/39/40/41 Above info comes directly from box sticker (OPPO CPH1979) Regards

  • when it comes to the Asian markets?

  • Are you sure about HDR support?

  • brilliant colors and good design

  • Absolutely brilliant. I am satisfied with the product. Great battery backup. No lag. Thank you oppo..

  • It does have stereo speakers!

  • Well qualcomm and google everywhere. I really hope HingMeng or Ark will solve many.

  • And btw there is a 4/128GB version.

  • Will it have test here like rest of phones?

  • True, I didn't care about Apple, Samsung, Huawei.... Then I look at the western market : Qualcomm nearly everywhere...and ask me why. It's monopoly and I don't want it. Please read Findings of Law...you will understand why

  • I do but i support only my self and sometimes my girlfriends as she also supports me. And friends i trust thats all. Dont have the money to spare for a companies which creates and develops rubbish or which robs they cuzstomers by selling with 500% increased costs from manufacturing price like Samsung Sony Apple and LG do.

  • You're free to support a company even when it has antitrust behavior... That's your decision, but you really should read (I know it's long)

  • My friend i am sorry i have no plan to buy a mediatek powered devices no matter what same like my apple issue long time ago. Samsung and Huawei have own CPUs and GPUs but in the end they preform worse than Snapdragon or Apple chips.

  • You're point of view is false as you mostly compare Mediatek's chip which are mid-range to high-end. Mediatek's chips work like they should. Comparisons are : - mt6735/6737/6739 vs SD410/412/415/425...Bad behavior was on 410/412....the first quad A53 from mediatek, mt6752, was far better - Helio A22 vs SD429 - mt6750/6750T vs SD430/435 - Helio P22 vs SD439/450 - Helio P20/23/25/35 vs SD625/626 - Helio P60/70 vs SD636/660 - Helio P90 vs SD710 Sometime Mediatek released high-end. That was the case with X30, two years ago or mt6595. Both were commercial failures. It is impossible to sell high-end soc. Samsung release High-end Exynos because they can use it on Galaxy S and Galaxy Note. On mid-range Exynos 7885 is crap. GPU throttle by 60%...you can't find any Mediatek's soc that behaved that way Huawei release High-end soc only because of Huawei/Honor devices. You want better soc from Mediatek, you should : - ask Qualcomm to respect FRAND conditions - ask Medias to test Helio instead of mt6735 You should read this :

  • Oppo reno z doesn't have stereo speakers. While poco have them

  • Mediatek was always worst among all major chipset makers. And Kirin and Samsung Exynos was always better. Exynos is bit slower than Snapdragon and far worse for gaming due to heating facts but kirin wrks very well and have no heating problems. Snapdragon is best among all android chipsets. Only Apple bionic is better or faster because saying better to a throttling chips where the phione last bit longer on a charge due to better ram management and less powerhungry chipsets but takes 4 times more to charge the device because even a 1600 euros phone dont support quick charge is rather funny than a said fact. Since my first and last Iphone 6 back in 2014 i said good bye to apple and i will never plan to go back.

  • When is this phone getting released in India very eagerly waiting to buy... once released it will be really good competitor...

  • Hey... P90 is not a SD425, it's more like a SD710... With a worst 12nm process and only LTE cat 12...but with top ISP and AI. Ok, few games will be slower...nearly no-one will play them.... When everyboby have eyes to see the screen and ears for the sound. Most people will take photos too... P90 is more than enough to provide a fast experience. Reno Z save money on what most people needn't and spend money on what most people will appreciate. If you want Mediatek to come with new high end Helio X, you had to accept paying a little more. Thinkng Mediatek is entry level will help Qualcomm's monopoly on high-end (as Exynos and Kirin aren't true competitors)

  • Man its same like if we mount specs of Samsung Note 10 on SD425 CPU. Having less is sometimes more. Poco is great enough all of your said add-ons cost more and more money but in the end there is nothing worth extra bucks. People wants the best for affordable price spechunters are just 0,001% of planet.

  • If you are focused on benchmarks... Reno Z is focused on features Pocophone hasn't Amoled screen with HDR10 support... Pocophone hasn't stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Pocophone hasn't 48MP camera Plus Helio P90's ISP can use full effects on 48Mp cameras. Snapdragon 710, 730 or 845 can't use zero shutter delay with 48MP camera. Compare to SD710 AI is 4 time better on P90...the same level than SD855. This can give a good photophone. "95%" of users ask for a good screen, a good sound and a good camera "5%" ask for benchmarks and gaming. This Reno Z can be a very good phone for most users...geeks will get Pocophone or K20 Pro... Plus on my opinion Reno Z is more beautifull

  • 330 for mediatek funny. Other specs looks promisig. Pocophone is way cheaper and better deal or K20 pro is a great equivalent.

  • Oppo please make phone with dual sim (not shared) and SD card slot, good camera and respectable battery ( no notch , hole , or tear drop of any kind ) and would be too much to ask if it were to be less than or egual to 155mm ? thought Reno would fit the bill, but it's a dissapointement. pretty please??

  • Pocophone F1 or Oppo Reno Z?

  • we have in uae

  • Will it be released here in the india ???...

  • Will it be released here in the Philippines?

  • I'm pretty sure it's got quite the performance. I have an Oppo F7 and it's rockin'.! Most of my games, which are fairly demanding when it comes to graphics are maxed. Smooth as heck! Lol

  • i love Oppo Reno Z..When Oppo Reno Z release in Malaysia?

  • A 32 MP Snapper , Wow !

  • Can you please tell us about the battery life, camera quality and gaming performace? Thank you.

  • Couldn't get a proper video review on this. Please post link if you have any. Any idea when it's coming to India or Sri Lanka?

  • I got mine... Glazing Purple. Awesome screen and very comfortable to hold.

  • Curious mix of spec. Battery capacity is good. Camera config is especially commendable - 48MP - This sensor is now a favourite. GPU is also new gen from Imagination Tech - Same GPU make that's there in apple phones. Waiting to get hands on it !!!

  • This chinese page has night mode samples.

  • why 9.1mm for the size 🤔 soo wired noo!!

  • Is that phone with night mode camera????

  • the scores matter to some people but others prefer real usage, GPU-wise, this phone will be great for gaming but I have not used any MTK phone yet to judge the battery usage, so we'll see, this phone is really good overall, I just hope the camera is not like other Oppo which has auto-filter and makes people look like anemic :3

  • i falling in love with this phone

  • A fair analysis... Based on the past about updates. But maybe Android 9.0 ans GSI can change the deal. Based on ISP and AI capabilities. About powervr, it seems that it reaches 30fps on Manhattan 3.0 (33fps on SD710). Whole Antutu's score is 173000 on Ulefone Armor 7 with P90...it's close to SD710's As both P90 and SD710 use A75 running at 2.2ghz, CPU scores should be the same. As both P90 and SD710 use Lpdd4x 1866mhz, Memory scores should be the samedi. So that GPU scores should be close. About power efficiency, as SD710 uses 10nm it should be better. But P90 should be better than SD675 on this part...

  • Overall a very good phone, but with Mediatek OS update can be tricky and there are no custom Roms. The P90 will make the Reno take better photos than the SD710 alternative (very high AI, ZSD at 48 MP). I hope for a not high retail price. The great unknowns for me: -is the Powervr GM9446 good for gaming ? And is there any online benchmark for it ? -is the P90 much more battery hungry compared to SD710 ?

  • You can of course swap out the memory card so it affords you "infinite" storage in that sense. There are good reasons to use SD cards, but they are relatively narrow. For instance if you want to listen to lots of music somewhere you can't use data, or if you take a lot of photos and it's not possible to upload them. Again, these are fairly narrow uses for a minority of people.

  • It can have a huge impact on phone design. It has to be externally accessible so that takes up space beyond just the outline of the memory card, which is an already relatively large component. Phones are already very complex and tight on space, there are tradeoffs and many people don't care about memory cards and never use them. You think that just because you think they are important then everyone does.

  • Nice !

  • my point is more inclined to the fact as to WHY the phone makers don't include it ? its not an expensive component to include and it is simply confusing to decipher the reason why most flagships hate the SD card slot ? it should not have any adverse affect on the phone in any manner, software or hardware so what's the problem with the flagship makers ?! the decision to use a card slot should rest with the USER not the COMPANIES !

  • if thats really your argument, then SD card wont save you either, because you will run out of memory even with xyz GB card. sooner or later. and no one mildly inteligent will put games and app data to sluggish SD card with slow read/write speeds and big latency times compared to internal storage. if 256 GB is not enough for you, buy phone with 512 GB/1 TB storage or consider amount of data you really need to have in the phone

  • it WILL run out eventually you whatsapp keeps getting bigger, games will keep increasing in size, pics ... EVERYTHING will grow in size ! you need SD card slot to keep up !

  • who needs a card slot... when u have 128/256??

  • Another device with no micro SD card. It's a big No no.

  • Change the processor spec. Is Snapdragon 710. Save some bucks and get a Pocophone. Far better soc.

  • now you can compare it with realme x & realme x lite realme x lite with sd710 starting price its 174$ realme x also start from 219$

  • Who claims it's flagship? It's Helio P, not Helio X You prefer SD675 only because of Cortex A76 (Kryo 4)? A76 is only an increase of instructions per cycle...it won't provide a faster device. It works only on benchmarks that force parallelisation of instructions on a single core. Even Qualcomm considers 675 is weaker than 710 On P90 you've got : - triple ISP up to 48MP with zero shutter delay and noise reduction (no zero shutter delay on both 675 and 710) - a gpu 10% under Adreno 616 (SD710) probably near 50% better than Adreno 612 (SD675). Manhattan 3.0 test (gfxbench) framerates are : 30 on P90, 33 on SD710, only 20 on SD675 - double DSP and a dedicated core for AI...AI performances are close to SD855

  • not flagship you can compare thin phone with up coming phones of xiaomi like mi a3, they say will come with sd710 that's it,No more than that

  • It has iPhone gpu, apple always use power vr for the iPhone and ipad

  • only use old technology and they claim to be flagship? since the P70 is not that different from SD660, I can say the P90 would just be at the level of SD710 since its using the exact same technology core. It couldnt even reach the processing power of SD675 then

  • 12nm 2xA75 + 6xA55, modern midranger I'd say. Only supports 1080p and UFS 2.1 so it's no flagship, but pretty nice to see it in this phone

  • ffs why so big? can't we have small phone?

  • Flagship's soc is Helio X serie (the last one was X30 - the same year Qualcomm released Snapdragon 835) P90 is Snapdragon 710's competitor : * Nearly the same CPU : - Big cores : 2xA75 - 2.2ghz (renamed Kryo Gold on Qualcomm) - Little cores : 6xA55 - 2.2ghz (Kryo Silver 1.7ghz) * Close GPU : I think PowerVR9446 is maybe 10% weaker * Same 2x16bits lpddr4x 1866mhz What is better on P90 * Triple ISP for cameras allows 48MP with zero shutter delay and noise réduction * AI with dual-core Tensilica P6 and dedicated AI processor (AI-benchmark's score is close to SD855) What is better on SD710 : - 10nm (vs 12) - lte category 15 (vs 12) Great to see a phone with this soc!

  • Helio P90? is that Mediatek's new flagship chipset?
