I hear many people complaining about the missing radio feature, but I heard also that Radio software is available on the internet (although its a streaming radio over GPRS) so does that solve this problem ? and what about local FM channels, cant I use (find) a software as well that will capture FM broadcast transmission ?? is there any software that does that ?? thanks

It's a great looking phone, with a coll mp3 player and realy thin. It has got all the basic features you need, like t9 sms, built-in handsfree, good stereo speakers, wap web browsing and support for java midp 2.0. On the other side, video recording it's limited not by time, but by file size, thas 296kb, thats about 25 seconds of 3gp video. In my case i've got a serious issue with the phones software: stalls, reset to factory settings once i a while. when i put it to charge it goes off an on without asking for the sim card pin code. besides, it blocks and warm up

I own one... & trust me in the last 2 yrs that I ve used it, I 've not faced any problem regarding anything... I might even continue using it for 2-3 more years. unlike most of the samsung cells this one has good battery strength. & its trendy. looks really nice & more importantly very different... u wont find one of its kind anywhere else.

I bought this phone 3 months ago the e496. Personally this is the second samsung I have ever owned, I never suggest them again. Yes the phone works fine no great problems with it and the pic quality is just fine. I bought this phone because it was cheap and had camera and bluetooth. The only problems with it is one it won't play music off the microsd card for ringtones, you have to move them to your phone memory to use them as ring tones. Second the bluetooth leaves much to be desired, everytime I hang up the call the phone freezes and I have to pop battery out to restart it. Other than those problems it's pretty basic but works fine.

Guys, I just got this phone, not really impressed. I copied my SIM to the phone and it switched the first name with the last name and I had to delete all and enter manually. Also, I am trying to activate the T9 for text messages but it only works with Arabic and not English. Hi, I have bought a Samsung E490 Mobile from New Delhi in April-07. It works only 4 months. After that it auto off suddenly. I cannt paly music and even i cannt trace call log whenver it auto offs. I have to 10 or mor times switch on. I am completely unsatisfied. I had gone to Nehru Place Service centre and they took 3 days to solve the issue. Actually that is not resolved yet. the engineers are not able to find any problems. I cannt suggest anyone to buy a samsung phone.

I had bad experience with my earlier Samsung flip type mobile, as the cable of flip joint got cut and I paid a big amount for replacing it. Again within 3 months the new cable got cut and I threw the mobile, not to go for Samsung again. But I loved the design of E490 and bought it yesterday. I found its appearance, features & performance are excellent. However, I am not satisfied with the delicate charging plug. I also hope the cable would not get damaged soon.

@ who ever you are, its people like you that do not read posts correctly that annoy me and everyone else. i never once said in that post that they cameras were higher quaility... but common scence tells me samsungs 10mp cam is much better than anything we have at the moment? i'm also sure the 3mp camera from the se k800i is much better than the 2mp camera from the nokia 6280? or is that just me? generally camera sixed DO dictate the quality of the images!but thats no the point if you actually look back to ryans post you can clearly see he was refering to samsung rleasing weak camers like 1.3 mp and 2.0... never once said anything about the quality if the lens just that they were low pixel cameras. did you understand it now?

@ryan do a little history first before posting mate, samsung where the first mobile comany to add a vga camra to their phones, they were also the first company to release a 5 mega pixel camera and as of last month were the first company to release 10mp camera onto the market. please look around before posting as the information is readly available. samsung have very good camer phones... just they are mostly asian models with some seepign through to the uk

The phone doesign is not the best I've seen from Samsung, pretty disappointing. Nothing striking. The features are rubbish, 1.3 MP > 2.0 MP should be the min. for Samsung, other than the X830. Only word is complete crap.
