The Windows Mobile OS really made this phone unusable and slow. The only phone I've almost thrown out of frustration. It promised so much but delivered little more than eye candy. However due to its specifications being so far ahead of its time it is still a useful little hand held device to dual boot with Android.

My daughter purchased a new Sony experia x1 on sunday from optus and cannot hear callers if any background noise. Returned to optus and was advised phone has to be sent away for checking. This is so unacceptable when the phone is not fit for purpose and was returned first working day after purchase. Not happy with Somy or optus. Stinks!

I've never faced such an issue, but - wild guess - does your phone have connection (you can make/receive calls)?! If that isn't th case try reboot and, the last resort, Hard Reset, wich will erase all data on your phone's memory, including contacts. GL!

The only way I know to change language is intalling another ROM (another Windows Mobile) with the language u want to. Or u can install Android as a second system in a language of your preference. Good luck!

this is a really nice fone ever made by SE. all the features are really nice. Something similar to Samsung Omnia i900 all in one fone. Yes I know, fone is slow but compare to other fones, very good features, and high end quality fone ever made in phone history. I�m keep it in my fone collection, but still I never found such a nice fone yet. Bt problem is slowness I wish if Sony can re � desing it with good CPU n GPU, if they can include 1Ghz cpu and good GPU,with capacitive touch, no one can beat it.

Did u try uninstall some apps by computer (ActiveSync WMDC), coz sometimes they can do such thing. If it doesn't work I see only one way out: Hard Reset, its gonna rebuild your device's OS as factory, so your data (contacts, schedules, files, music, ...) in your Xperia's memory will be lost!

PC Suite is for Nokia phones, u should use Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows Vista/7/8) or Active Sync (for Windows XP/2000/...). It depends on what u need to do, coz u can use Xilisoft Mobile Manager and Jeyo Mobile to synchronized your contacts and other things.

AndroidOS is free, so how can Google or anyone else sells it?! Besides, Google already has enough work on AndroidOS update and improvements, so why "waste" time developing to an "dead phone"?!? But don't worry, XDA-Developers is the answer, cos they have made it, they found a way to install AndroidOS on Xperia X1, and even better, u don't have to clean your phone before do it, cos it's just like an app, it'll work from memory card only.

my friend, i bought the x1 almost 2years ago and the only thing i can tell you that for the standards tha it was build in it;s production year, it's the best you can get and will never disapoint you (never loosing calls, never freezes, very very good battery-life). i hope my reply could help you to take a decision.

I'm not sure but, I think WP7 doesn't work on Xperia X1 because of the hardware, there isn't drivers for it. As u can c, HTC HD2 run WP7 without problems.

This is one of the best phones that I have ever owned it even does some Blackberry Features... It has java emulation... I got a Android Plugin... It Connects to my WIFI at home without any problems... GPS with GoogleMaps and I bought the Garmin Software for it so I have never gotten lost having it with me... I luuuuv this phone... X1 I bought this cell about a year ago after my Nokia 6260 went dead, I loved my Nokia it's everything I wanted and worked 4 years like a champ. The price at the time was 160+credit coupon, i took it and over the next year i used it alot as phone i found it very good never drops call,good sound,easy feature access & others used rarely but never slow or difficult. one thing that bothered me a bit no accessories for this device (cover,etc..) all in all for my money at the time its great bargain and good buy

Why do u complain about the OS, if u can have other versons of Windows Mobile anda even Android at same time?!?! The keyboard and the battery issues could be solved just by Hard Resetting your device - very easy and simple process! - and get some new features too! Do u know what "Programmed/Planned Obsolescence" means??? Probably not, otherwise wouldn't say such things! Try XDA-Developers before buy another device, OK!? It'll help u a lot!

I have had this phone for two years and I came to the conclusion that this is probably the worst, most unreliable phone I have ever owned. The keyboard of this phone broke down 7 times in two years. I mean, what is the use of having a qwerty keyboard if you can't use it. It repeats the letters typed by the peripheral keys like the m, n, p, a, space bar etc. This implies that I have to edit a normal text message about twice before I can send it. Frustrating! And the software is slow and very outdated. The phone is also extremely temperamental and it has a very poor battery life. This phone is probably not on the market anymore, but it tainted the Sony Ericsson image in my eyes to such an extent that I will probably never support the brand ever again. It is sad as my previous (basic) Sony Ericsson was probably the most relaible phone I ever owned. I am going to retire this phone this week and upgrade to a new smartphone! Bye Sony.

Actually, yes you can. There are many versions of Android being developed by a large community for the X1. Though the usability and stability can be touchy. If you're keen on doing anything media related (apart from music) you're better off with an official Android handset. The performance of Windows Mobile devices hacked to run Android just isn't up to stuff.

Don't u even think about it!!! The OS on Galaxy Wave Y (S5380) is Bada, so u won't find too much apps as u'll find for Windows Mobile, and theresn't many intel about this system like X1 has. If u dig a little bit more u'll find out what BadaOS can do, 'coz WM everybody knows!

I miss windows smartphone with its stylus and customisations. I love getting cab files and installing them. Along with Nokia N900 these phones get you thinking and learning.

Probably u never used a touchscreen device before this one with a resistive screen, otherwise u wouldn't say such thing. Try some older devices (like HTC Kaiser, TouchHD, ...) and then compare with your X1, u will see the diference. About Android... it's quite normal, after some time using its starting slowing the system down, so u may considerer reinstall it or at least Hard Reset your device.

If it's very important to u, may I suggest u take a look at Sofmaker Office fo Windows Mobile, it's the best Office app. Unffortunelly its not so cheap...

I'm using this phone for more than 2 years now, but now it's a bit slow... I have android 2.2 on my SD card and can you two OS with this phone, Android is having problem with kernel it is good but often with some keyboard freezing... Otherwise I get 610 score in quadrant better than Samasung galaxy 3 GT5800. But iGO navigation in windows is working very well i use it often when i travel somewhere. It is good phone with a bit slow processor and not so responsive resistive touchscreen.

can, but you'll need to use the headset. built in microphone on the device is non-functional. its by design because microsoft never made the effort to fix their shortcomings on winmo operating system. its not a defect of skype nor x1, so I heard. you'll have to carry the headset around if you use skype often.

Yes, Skype is fully compatible. There is a panel (a special replacement for the homescreen, in case you didn't know) which is an official Skype client. It can even use the front-mounted camera for video calling.

Been almost 2 yrs having owned this phone and am still in love with it despite having xperia x10 android (on gb tripnmiui awesome rom ). The arc slider keyboard looks sexy, the battery life in this phone is quite good, music quality is the most awesome feature of it with good loud output when equalizers are enabled, ok camera, and nothing else to complaint about. I have xperia Energy rom with sense interface on windows mobile 6.5 running on my phone.. you can find it at be sure that you first flaf your phone with instructions (may void ur warranty). Also i have shiny steel back cover following instructions from Having these two features makes me love my phone always.

This is a very good phone, I'm still using it, and I have never had any problem even though I bought it 2nd hand. Something is true, the phone as it comes (winmo 6.1) is very slow and completely limitated, but if you upgrade it to winmo 6.5, with custom roms like 826x, Energy roms, etc, this phone is very fast and has nothing to envy to latest phones. In my case I have installed 826x rom, with cpu overclocked to 652 mhz. Also I installed android os to my X1 and runs very smooth, with almost full functionality.

well . . 5800 is far simpler than x1, but 1 thing WM devices boasts,plugins. n apps that run @ bakground,seemlussly integrated into OS not like symbian S60 5800 is better at 1st,but you'll get quicker to boredom compared to X1. WM,esp x1 has many fun waiting to be explored. i've used both phones be4,since using X1,i'll loyal to WM,n WPhone 7devices XD n WM offer FULL CONTROL compared to symbian.

This is normal! Its mostly because it is unable to cope. So whenever u charge it or use it don't try to use it tooo much. When it is charging just leave it there and don't use it. Even if it is still hot, don't worry about it just let it cool down! :) enjoy

there is a backup tool PIM backup. install it first and create bachup. You can also backup your phone by connecting it to your pc using usb cable. If you are using windows xp, install activesync (from Microsoft) and if you are using windows vista or 7 install windows mobile device center. You can take backup after connecting your phone to pc. Hope it will work for you.

Well, I have this phone for more than 1 year now, one of the most memorable phone for me eventhough after X1 I switched to iPhone and to blackberry It has almost everything! Decent camera, video-call, music player, wi-fi, amazing internet connectivity (really quick) one thing I miss is just the bigger qwerty touch keyboard The touchsreen is overall ok. Battery life ok too, keyboard really okay but last time I use it,the keyboard is not as responsive like the old days... And the silver color peels off little by little, which is kind of sad I still keep it now, and maybe if I need it I will use it again :) If you like complicated menus, bussines phone, nice internet browsing experience, and a really complete phone, this is the phone for you

I'm using the phone for an year and a half now. Love its design and at the time i bought it was top hardware. It has its downsides but overall experience is very good and it was going to excellent if it wasn't the keyboard keys on the mid row that began playing tricks after some time :) Stuck or writing more letters than you press (really annoying). Battery life is good and there is lots of stuff for WinMobile on the Internet. So if you like its design and interface buy it although i think Android better. Waiting for XPERIA ARC. Hold on X1 just three more months :D

I have had my x1 for over 2 years now. The problem you seem to expiriencing, I only had after almost 2 years of use. It's just the flexwire connection inside. If still under warranty SE will replace it free of charge. Actually with my phone they decided to replace my entire bottom half, since the cam was badly scratched after 2 years of abuse(I knew I bought the metal cased one for a reason XD. The keyboard thing was actually the only problem I have ever had with it. I take it every where, for everything, since I travel a lot. Since my contract was up for renewal, I decided not to opt for a new free phone with my subscription, but for a monthly discount and a new battery. Mainly due to the fact that spec wise it still hold it's own to many newer models being released. Maybe next year...

I bought this after my glofiish m800 was old and have used the xperia x1 for 2 years.Great cpu and big ram but the keyboard is unusable: the keys sometimes don't make anything at all and suddenly they write multiple letttttttterssssss (yep that's the idea). The screen is 3" wvga but it is smaller than 2.8" vga because it is wide and low so the resulting surface is smaller(it feels smaller too). The 3.5mm jack is good but there is no functional and responsive mp3 player for windows mobile(usually you get one or the other). The panels are illogic and have no clear purpose so they are not a selling point. The battery cover will be "color washed" in about 2 months which will make your black x1 a black/grey x1. Screen brightness leaves a lot to be desired too(compared to the glofiish m800).Call quality was worse than m800 too which also has a good keyboard. I am comparing it to the glofiish m800 since many say it was a bad PDA phone...which it is. So since this is 2010 and you are not going to buy a new xperia do not buy a used one even. The orrible keyboard defeats the purpose of the slider so it is equivalent with a touchscreen only phone but with the bulk. A used touch HD or touch pro are much better alternatives.

If you get the Nokia, you may regret it. If you get the X1, you will regret it. For sure. And regret more than the Nokia. Trust me, I own one of these bloody X1's. The hardware is great. Love the keyboard, love that super-hi-res screen (it almost matches iPhone 4's "retina" display). It is solidly built, it's a nice size. Win Mobile ruins the whole thing. Performance gets spotty sometimes, requireing a re-start. Sometimes even the battery life gets ruined and you have to soft-reset while charging to fix things. And if you stray away from the panels, you're in for a world of hurt using that ugly, clunky WinMo interface, which was not meant for fingers.

X1 IS designed by HTC for SE. And it HAS a few custom Android ROM images that you can flash to your X1. Of course none of them are completely functional as of now but some supports almost all the functionality in the phone.

bro i totally agree with you. im on my second xperia x1, and the second one after about 3 months of use, bam! flex ribbon completely destroyed without a single scratch on my phone. i think the reason this phone is soo highly rated on gsmarena.com is that when it does work, its amazing. i loved it during the first couple of months, and now they have some really decent ports of android on the X1. sigh. Im definately saving up my $$$ for an HTC phone now.

I've used this phone for over 2 years (exchanged to NEW X1 3 times due to faults) and would like to give the truth: Out of all the 3 new X1 phones, they will all eventually result to some type of hardware damage, most notably the keyboard repeating keys (all 3 will get it). 1 also eventually had a screen issue where the wiring is loose and blacks out frequently (but the screen still works). This phone is still definitely a good phone, especially with XDA's existence. I enjoyed both using it and admiring it. However, despite the awesome metallic body, if you look carefully, it is quite flimsy at certain spots, which is the main cause of all these hardware defects. I can guarantee you that there will be hardware defects. I'm concered about the high rating it is receiving even now (hence my story of revelation) and feel that the people who are giving these high ratings are either denying the fact that this phone has a lot of hardware faults, or, I am so unlucky to have faulty X1 THREE times (I pamper my phones, non of them have a single scratch!) I've given up on SE and will now move to HTC (the most consistent hardware and software for years)

Nope you cannot update to windows mobile 7. The minimum specification for this OS by microsoft demands a 1 GHz processor with dedicated GPU. As far as I am concerned this phone(x1) does not meet the criteria.

this phone is like the worst phone ever i bought nearly two years ago.. for 48,000 pesos, roughly a thousand dollars, back then it has its cute leather casing that goes with the executive look the about five months of minimal use the phone starts to hang then its gets worse and worse then suddenly after exacly one yearof use while im editing my excel document it blacked out.. so i consulted the S&E technicians here and the say that the damage is irreparable.. they said there is a leak of some sort inside the phone and that it would cost me 90 percent of the the price of the phone if i were going to let them fix it..they say that these kind of damage is the main problem of the X1.. HTC legend is way better than this crap of a phone

try this one, it will replace your default on screen keyboard button with a bigger button, you can also change to phone keyboard like nokia 5800xm, it works perfect on my x1, no need two hand for texting you may also try this one too it will enlarge the start menu and other sub menu. become easier to press by thumb. try it.. you will not regret it

It's a really good phone, but you need to be able to tweak the software to make it shine. I have a custom rom of touchflo 3d 2 and it is so fast, much better than how it was out of the box, and much better than my old touch diamond, plus its not that hard to install. No bugs or chrases, but i usually restart my phone once a week to avoid any problems just in case.

Bluetooth of xperia x1 is fine. just clear all the old devices in the list of bonded devices. then give the password any digit and give the same digit in the other device also when asked. the location of recieved file is my documents

my men its already a touch screen for keypad when you bought this unit just read the manual so you will know ok. dont download the 6.5 windows cause its still not yet trusted, if you download this version mybe it will affect some of the features of your X1 ok

got one since 2 years, and it is not an ideal phone, spacebar gives multi spaces when you press ones. People can't hear me sometimes because the voice is terrible.

A quick comparison between the Sony ericsson X1 & X2 : the X1 over the X2 : 1- the radio and video calling were included from the first place. 2- I find wm 6.1 much more stable than 6.5 which is indeed buggy. 3- you can make a playlist from the device it self. 4- comes with very good headphones unlike the crappy ones that you get with the x2. 5- Since the X1 has been almost 2 years in the market, this means you can find more solutions for it's problem + there has been a lot development going on for it, such as switching the device to wm 6.5 or android. the X2 over X1 : 1- a brilliant 8.1 mp camera with better lens and sensors over the 3.2 mp in the x1. 2- wm 6.5 is considered more touch friendly because of the bigger fonts and icons. 3- a bigger screen and a more elegant looking device with a better keyboard and better overall hardware. 4- More panels + the option of scheduling the time the panels appear in the day. 5- the x2 didn't suffer from the cracks that happened to some of the X1 users. 6- better touch screen responsiveness. Summary : both devices are good, but honestly even if it's hard for me to say this. But I believe the X1 is a better choice than the X2, although the X2 is more advanced and should be way advanced! With the X1 your sd memory card will never be erased, and you will have less crushes indeed! with a more stable and less buggy os. P.S : I own them both and still use them both and love them both as well! but the X2 just looks dam* good compared to the X1 :) SE= make.believe

yes i had experienced the same problem you have right now. . . the speaker has just moistened and needs to be reheated. . . it is just a minute problem and solution, but because we don't have any tools in reheating our phones, you have to bring that to the repair shop and you will not wait longer for the phone to get fixed. they will just reheat your phone and the speaker will get back in its good condition. I don't know where place you are in now, but in the Philippines, we have a lot of repair shops here that fix our damaged phones.

i have this phone now. . . i swapped my iphone 2g for this phone, because i love windows mobile phone rather than iphone. . . and because it has a a large internal memory i was able to put lot of applications. Moreover, it has become much better and useful when i changed it to experileo rom . . . try this rom , it's cool!!!

Don't buy this phone have it for a more then a year, the case is completely scratched, buttons on qwerty stopped responding and when you press it hard then it types 5-6 times the same letter, my handset speaker which you put on your ear is broken for a while - it became very silent hardly can hear anyone have to use speaker-phone, windows mobile software is full of bugs, there is issues with charging sometimes it won't charge and on top of that now the X1 started to switch off randomly, I have realized that it losses contact in area between qwerty and the screen and if you press it on the screen or move a little bit it switches off at once. Other that that it is a good phone

These programs are 100% reliable and are bug free: By the way I am a big fan of SE and I have both xperia X1 and X2. And let me tell you that for the price and features X1 is better. x1: got mine in slot Nija. within one week, I noticed fault and had it changed. i dnt use mine for phone, only made 86mins calls in 3months, i'm always online or using office mobile & pdf reader. its not realy good for chatting. battery life last a whole day with Windows Media Player running in d background. it scratches easily, but ur office is surely with u on d go. looks fragile but my x1 has fallen like 7 times from my office table with the battery even coming out one time but its still working properly. best of all; really cool watching film on it.

That is an odd owner name, I think you are confusing owner's name with the serial number, what you have posted ooks more like a serial number to me. I don't use resco keyboard as I prefer X2 XT9 keyboard which is the best in my opinion but you should check the owner's name by going to Settings>Personal>Owner Information. If there is no name then type your own name or whatever you want and press ok. Then use that name and generate a valid serial from the keygen. I hope it will work.

I read all different kind of opinions here. Either negative or possitive, but in general I can say this phone is great, unique and challenging.I have this phone for almost 2 yrs, still love it.I get bored very easy, but X1 still keeps me entertain. I suggest you guys need to read more about each phone so you could find out more what you do or don't like about that phone.Don't cry if you already bought it, trade in for something else simple. The phone is a good machine i must confess. the only diffrence it has with the blackberry is just the BB chat to think i sold BB to get this X1. My issue is the tempreture when u make long calls. it heats up and nearly burns de ear. Any ideas on how to avoid this cos im losing my ears. The 'mechanical key-pads' have these micro-switches underneath which have these millivolts signals passing thru' specific resistance in the circuitry configured for the number/alphabet. it is a nice fone wt gud bat. try the ff: 1) go to settings, system tab, power option and adjust d display brightness. auto brightness consumes batt more dan d lowest brightness position. 2) demand on RAM increases batt demand, u must manage ur fone to minimise demand on RAM. don't leave app. running when u don't it. Today's Panel has lowest demand on RAM amongst d panel. Also after running some app, d RAM keeps memory of those app even after closing them, thus except u restart ur fone like every 96hours there will be an increase on demand automatically, that is why people complain that their fone hangs. 3) don't leave any connection on when not in use, it drains d batt.

Writing using the keyboard is quite fast but using the transcriber is a lot faster I think you should try it out and then see the difference, also what is the RAM of these other phones that you are talking about? Compare them and compare the speed too.

There is no accelerometer on the phone but you can change the screen orientation by going through setting, then system, then screen. Note that if you slide it immediately you close it bach it goes to the portrait mode again and you would have to go through the whole process again.

I have bought and sold this 3 times now..Have just got another one in black and the only real problem is outdoors (like most mobiles are supposed to be most of the time) the key board is almost impossible to read..The xperia is good cause of d-pad and audio output cam/video over other windows devices..Its still solidly built and the panels are usefull..Its so stylish and powerful but with usual windows hang ups but its the style and easof use that brings me back.. Some people may think how is using a stylus easy,,well its more accurate than these capacitive screens and stylus is really geaky and just so easy to pull out without even thinking about it.. Never tried the x2 cause miss d-pad and flash led which i find very very useful and its basically the same..The x1 is only a couple of years old but some people are using smartfones 5 years ols round me and even older non smartfones,,if you like it and it does the job for you then keep it..

I don't have good experience with it, its slide has imprinted wear smudges on its keyboard buttons. Also, its up and down keys are not working now, without any shock to it. Also some buttons on keypad are totally not working... I don't know why it happened with SE. anyhow, don't take this set, my sincere suggestion. regards

I have had this phone for like a year now. It is great, kind of complicated to get around at first but once you get the hang of the windows mobile software it is great. I particularly like the qwerty keypad so fast for typing both sms and email. Good photo and video camera as well. Good internet browsing even though this technology is still green in general. Not a phone for old people though, it is not simple enough.

Adiel is right This IS STILL the best windows phone you can buy by far and, for those of us in Australia who care, easily the most exclusive phone you can buy because it was never branded by a carrier anywhere down here, so if you wanted one you had to look for it and pay top dollar too until recently, because it has been succeeded now by the X2 and X10 I got it @ a run out price of Au$370 from JB hifi but only with a 1 month warranty due to it supposedly being a brittle model with a plastic back that is easy to crack near the stylus and around the battery compartment after being subjected to a few drops, this problem was experienced mainly with European branded models, mostly silver which worried me because mine is. I have dropped mine twice, been out in the rain several times with it on my hip, plus I work in rough dusty environments, am a far cry from the exec type person the SEX1 was marketed for and so far no cracks just some scraped chrome paint on the corner thats all but I'm not worried as Sony Ericsson are known to have been nice to people who have had this problem, may I also point out that the SEX1 (as we devoted owners call it )was only designed by SE and actually built by HTC which can only be a good thing. now all the iffey stuff is out of the way time for the glowing praise! the SE boffins really wanted to make a point with this thing when they released it, clearly a dig at making an iphone killer for all those of us who despise Apple's philosphy of conformity in an age of individuality (See the BBC documentary "Century of Self"), SE have gone the other way and given software developers a bare canvas(the xpanel thingy) upon which they can build their own interfaces to run seamlessly with winmo 6.1, this harnesses winmo's key strength (customisation) so it doesn't have to be a windows phone if you don't want it to be, I am flipping between a HTC touchflo 3d shell and an android lookalike (Androkkidd) and the SPB mobile one, and all of these improve the speed of your device and the framerate of what your viewing, for instance scrolling a winmo page is crap, only looks like a measly 5fps (like a bad cartoon or any old mobile menu, but with the SPB mobile or androkkid running pages scroll at 15-18 fps, much quicker and smoother. I bought a pocket pc back in 2004 and though only had it for a month before I lost it, am surprised how well owning that one prepared me for using the SEX1 every OS will need some learning to master and for those who don't want to, well Apple Corporation have built a phone just for you (lamers!) I feel sorry for those who have posted simple questions, this phone is so simple to use, and after 7 years there is no end to the solutions you can find for anything, you just have to know where to look (xda forums) Best of all I bought this thing more than 2 years after its release and it still wipes the floor with most other phones on the market, and many of the newer HTCs and Samsungs available out here have bigger screens but the same wvga resolution, just bigger proccessors but everything else is equal apart from battery specs, nothing can compare with the capacity of this big LiPO battery ( three hours playing mp3s and taking 1 call only chews up 20% I can run music on this thing all day and watch videos on the train home no probs this site's stats page speaks for itself the SEX1 stand 11th in the overall rated column and 4th in the interest column because 2 years later when most phones would have been thrown to the scrapheap people are still asking about the SEX1!!!

Hi there, this option is to adjust the TFT screen. so you simply should touch the curser with your stylus in each location the curser goes then when the adjustment finishs will move to the first desktop screen.

second time that it's going to the factory, first time problem with the 3.5 mm audio jack and that was after 6 months. Now 1 year after the qwerty keyboard is jammed. And the sim card reader is broken all this has to be replaced with new hard ware. (thank god I have an insurance). Has anyone have the same problems or is mine a Monday morning model?

well 3 days now IM GOING TO BE HONEST, CAUSE i notice the divided opinions about xperia x1, first it its not user friendly its a pc, seems powerful, battery really last even on very heavy use, its very well built, i cannot put battery icon on screen cause difficult to check uncheck boxes(find them)others are missing, open without my permition or letting me choose if i want to open my private msgs Sms on the main screen, samsung jack has wm 6.1 and has that feature but that was easy to choose if i want to. but overall for now is very positive the xperia x1 features I recomend this handset for its current price, but later Ill postanother more deep review... btw who can tell whats on the cd rom that came in the xperia box? cause mine doesnt had it cause was refurbished, and tell me about update software,, if somebody had some time..

This phone sucks. First I bought it in Korea. After being assured by the vendor that it had an English option I get it home to find out that is not true. Only the language of the country its sold in, Korean in my case. Way to go SE, no English speaking person in a another country would want to buy your product. Then when I register my phone on the SE website the website and SE mailings to me default to Spanish. While I have a Spanish surname that does not mean I speak Spanish. Numerous emails to SE to get this corected have resulted in replies in Spanish (!) and the problem continues. Found out that for months I was not getting text messages from certain numbers. No reason, just not getting them ever. When I took it to the service center, they fixed that problem but managed to lose all my settings, and saved messages. And the few programs that were in English (weather) are now not only not in Korean but now in gibberish. I do not recommend this phone nor SE to anyone.

you don't find it easy because u don't know anything about windows mobile but you can at least make an effort to understand it which you are obviously not making otherwise you wouldn't be complaining. windows mobile is the most customizable os ever, you can cutomize literally anything to suit ur preferences and can make it the easiest mobile to use but you have to learn how which is not very dificult. try to learn how to use a winmo device or keep crying like a baby. i am using this set and is the best mobile ever, i have customized it in such a way that everything i nee is in front of me and prforming every task is as simple as it could be, its simply the finest winmo device ever.

guess i'm lucky... mine works great, and the keyboard... never failed... many of you say that some keys don't work, in my case i must be gentle not to double press... i'm satisfied! windows, navigation, mediaplayer... all running clean as a whistle... the only observation is, when i use heavy apps, such as internet or gps it goes a bit hot..

I've had this phone for 4 months short of a year. As you guys probably read from previous posts, yes, the biggest problem this phone can cause you is the keyboard. Some of the keys on it requires multiple presses just so the letter you want to type would show, or you'd have to delete what you just typed in because the screen's showing more letters than what you pressed. It's really anoying and the only solution I have for it is installing an on screen keyboard so you don't have to use the physical keyboard whenever you want to compose SMS or email. The Media Panel also freezes up most of the time. Touch screen isn't as fluid compared to other touch screen phones out there but I guess it's what you should expect from a phone of this caliber. When it comes to applications, it's not half bad. I guess I can say than since I just use it for calls, SMS, and browsing every once in a while. Opera Mini's installed and I find it to be one of the best things this phone has to offer. Overall, I won't recommend this phone due to the issues I've had with it. That's why I'm looking forward to the X2 and other people's opinions about it. If there's anyone out there planning on getting the X1, mine's for sale! I just hope the X2 won't be the same dissapointment as it's older version was.

The X1 is the best smart phone ever! Trust me it is super amazing I love it!!! Regarding the battery you just need to switch from UMTS to GSM network and it will work just fine. Go to the network and change the setting from auto to gsm and it will make your battery life very good. You only need to switch to auto again if you want to use video calls or you want a very fast internet for downloads. Otherwise keep it in GSM mode and the battery will be fine. Also the sound through the headphone is fuking amazing!!! It's so clear and high and pure. X1 rules and the price for it now is very affordable.

I've had this phone for about 4 months now, and i still don't know how to use it, it's pretty good but blue tooth is kinda hard and setting up the ring tone is a bit hard, and the loudness isn't that loud, the up button is weird and i feel like if i press it it goes in too far, and the alarm isn't so loud and sometimes to me when i set it up to wake up at a certain time it does go off but i barely can hear it. and also the ''OK'' button makes me angry most of the time cos when you press it, it'll exit the window that you was just in bcos when your in the moment thing you'll just press it for an ''accept thing'' but really it'll exit the window that you was just inn. do you get me?? hard to explain but yeeh. but other thann all that, it's and alright phone but it just makes me angry alot and im gonna sell it and get a new one, lol. guys if your phone is slow and if you want bigger home screen(you can put custom shortcuts to program on hoem screen,it have a size of 3 normal screens,you just need to slide it with a finger and there you go) then go and get a SPB shell .

if your keys on keyboard dont work than you must open the phone and clean up the keys,if you have warranty then guys from shop where you have bought the phone can clean it up for free.after that keys will function normally. if you have scrached case of the phone you can replace it with case from ebay for about 20$.

Both of them are real old mate.... 5800 XM has the dodgy and unimpressive UI/OS called S60 5th Symbian. whereas X1 is real real old... WinMo 6.1, no official 6.5 upgrade forget 6.5.3. You can get cooked ROMs for th same but I suggest save yourself the trouble, go for some other phone. Check Out Samsung Monte... has a good Capacitive screen, good UI, and is suppose to have an excellent browser.

Pros: Lots of features & apps. Many free! Qwerty KB. Touch-screen. Handwriting reco. Get a 16GB card and load lots of music and videos on it. Cons: S-L-O-W as molasses. Drives me nuts waiting for it to change from one view to another, in order to accomplish something (say, Contacts to Phone to place a call). Switching Panels is a patience test. Really needs a faster processor. The silver keyboard is extremely hard to read in bright light. Should be black with white markings. No "Win" key on the outside. Must slide the KB out or use the tiny touchscreen icon --a challenge if you have sausage sized fingers like I do. Guess it was made for small hands. The phone app --this is primarily a phone, right?- depends fpr dialing, either on the diminutive alternate numeric keys of the sliding keyboard, which are almost impossible to locate, or on a virtual keyboard on the touchscreen, which you have to manually activate. Bummer!

If you go into the clock settings, there's an tab labelled 'more', untick 'display the clock on the title bar in all programs', this should replace the clock in the top right with the battery gauge. However there are programs you can download which allow you to view the battery status at the top of the screen at all times. Batti is one of these, as well as SPB Phone Suite. While the latter is a paid for application, it offers many useful features such as call blocking and custom-time based profiles (So you could for instance set your phone to turn wifi off at 9pm and back on at 9am the next day etc)

You can add up to a 32GB card with no noticeable sluggishness, you just need to find yourself a high grade card. Though that being said, even with a slower card, you'd likely only notice the difference in file transfers with a computer. You can increase the usable ROM by using a custom ROM from somewhere such as XDA developers. (However I recommend you research the process extensively, it can be tricky for first timers).

In india the crooks that se is is refusing to take care of the cracks developed on the body.Just cvame back from se service center.The told me that it is not the fault of SonyEric that the cracks have developed. You can switch on the phone part by trying to call someone. before you do can do this, the phone asks for your code so it can unlock itself again. It shuts down because the phone mode costs a lot of power. If it's turned off, it can run for an hour more.

Been using it for a year. It worth its price now. It has all the features i need, well, a bit laggy but still done it jobs as i want. It can download many software so u wont feel bore with it. Not dare to upgrade mine to WM6.5 for it's not official cuz done it on my HTC Touch end up whole system down. Seldom use its keyboard cuz found it useless for hard to press or sometime doubled the letter. Battery is one of the problem too. X1 has its pros & cons. It serves me well since i bought it. I will recommend forumers here to get one. Worth it. It's outdated since it released few years ago but it features can keep u updated for another feel more years until someone can invent a mobile which can teleport u. :)

To set a song for ringtone, go to the file explorer, tap the chosen song, pick set as ringtone The selected file will automaticly transferred to "my ringtone" folder, so later you can pick that song @ settings To send something, tap the file, pick "beam file" tap the selected device To connect go to settings, connection, bluetooth, there, you can set and connect to the device u want Hope this helps...

arghh, the keyboard isnt working properly. really hard presses are needed to get some keys to work and sometimes a really light press makes a double or even tripple letter. anyone else having problems with this?

The phone is pretty cool and quite fast when used to connect online, except for the fact that the cable connecting the keyboard to the display has a high tendency to get severed, and the annoying part is the parts of the phone is not available in the market. Sony Ericsson should produce XPERIA X1 connecting cabe and other parts, the phone becomes pretty useless except for receiving calls but no visual display...

Xperia seemed to be a beauty and a beast simultaneously when I owned it but I deeply regret the decision of buying one. All website posted generally positive reviews but it sucks in the long term. The body gets crack due to battery heat, the touchscreen won't work in landscape mode after sometime and you need to change ribbon every time to make it work, the speaker volume is so low that so many times you miss the calls, camera is not upto the mark........the speed is not very good....it is just okay.......a phone that sucked in many ways....A terrible experience...I won't recommend it to anyone who is looking for a smartphone.....because it is expensive and it is not worth it..........SE sucks big time !!!!

1. You can use autofocus that makes great no-blurry pictures. 2. Since Xperia is winmo its different from java based phones like w810, there are many themes for xperia but not as many as the java based phones have. But there are great softwares like winterface, wisbar desktop, spb mobile shell for complete customization for the phone. Then comes the modding, I am currently using windows 6.5 with manilla 2.1 and the whole look of the phone is completey changed. 3. There are many on-screen keyboards available for xperia. The best one are XT9 keyboard which I am currently using and I have NEVER opened my qwerty keyboard for typing msgs. Then there is Swype, and its one unique keyboard where u don't have to type anything, you just click on the first letter drag to the second letter then to third and so on and then release stylus at the last letter of whatever you want to write and the whole word is typed. 4. A great free stopwatch for xperia is available here hxxp://freewareppc.com/clock/stopwatch_by_nitram­k.shtml There are lots of and I mean LOTS of things available for xperia, you just have to find them.

Vishal. I've been using this phone for almost a year. Comparing to it the s60 os. Which i have i n85. It depends on you. If your a type whose interested in tweaking. Moding. Then go for x1. On the other hand. If not. Go for e72 instead of e71. It has a great design and promising specs for S60 os. But in any way. They're both smartphones. Either decision are good though.

I have been having this phone for almost a year... I love the phone... I got it as a present last year... For a teenage girl, people would say that the phone is too bussiness-y but who cares? The phone is great anyways... The phone has almost everthing! The things that is missing: -anti-shake for the camera... Often the picture is blurred -more panels! (my fav is the xperia fish, it's cute!!! Maybe they should add more fish? ^^ and maybe we can "feed" the fish. Not just tickle the fish. The tickling is cute actually, the fish wiggles and ran away, a fun way to kill the time) -stopwatch and countdown timer... (sometimes I can't even believe it doesn't have it) -flash wallpaper! -More themes (it's a sony ericsson phone, it SHOULD have a lot of themes) -stereo speakers -alpanumberic keyboard on screen. The qwerty touch keyboard is fine, but it's way small, so if we're in the hurry the touch keys makes it impossible to type fast) -better paint. Mine is silver and it's peeling off fast. Lucky the real color of the phone is silver, so it doesn't change theb whole appearance. Better actually, the real color is shiny and fancy. That's all, just some minor problems... If someone is planning to buy this phone. Acording to my experience, i say go for it! It's a good phone i'll be supporting SE!!!

Because the battery is extremely low. Just keep the phone in charging only, after some time the red light will change to green. Then check the battery level to see it is charged.

You can use win 6.5 on this phone, I am currently using it and its superb, but you will have to do a little research at xda developers forum in order to find out how to properly flash your xperia, but don't do anything in hurry, read the articles there for some time and then try it.

I used a lot of Nokia and Windows Mobile Phones, and had 1 BlackBerry. This phone is the best I've ever used. It supports BlackBerry service, with a PIN, PushMail and everything. The touch screen's very accurate and responsive. I have the Euro version X1i, but in Canada (Toronto) the 3G still works great(on 1900mhz). The only drawback is the speaker could be louder.

I've been using this phone since december 2008. After one year, the microphone didn't work anymore. It was unrepairable, so Vodafone hooked me up with a new one! It's a really userfriendly phone. The information on this page about the standby-time is not correct. If you use the internet as regular as I do, you need to recharge the phone after approximately 2 days. If you also use the MP3-player for a few hours, you have to recharge after 1 day. I would really love to see WinMo 6.5 on this phone. Some applications do not work on this version of WinMo. Other than this, it's a great phone!

This is an amazing phone, functions quite well! It was a toss up as to whether or not I was going to get the X1 or the SATIO.. turns out the X1 was cheaper =] ...Now my problem is I've only had this phone since December last year and am quite disappointed with the keyboard, I was just curious if anyone else has had problems with this also? The keys don't work at times and other times they stick. Other than that there are no problems what so ever. I have updated the software (I presume its a hardware problem) I am out of options and am going to send it back to the supplier under warranty unless anyone knows a cure for the keyboard malfunction, thanks in advance!

The X1 is a great phone bye all standards but it has several drawbacks that are unbelieveable anoying!! First of, winmo in general is laggy and it tends to freeze ALOT, also the metal casing on th ephone scratches all the time. Functionally, the phone is great, it is kick a$$, if u can live with the lag and a bit of freezing, i say buy it :) i love mine, the only thing i miss from my iphone is the app store but games are easy to find for any phone

yes, there are some downloads. I downloaded a torrent with 30 games such as prince of persia. Just google "windows mobile 6.1 games" and you'll find them. Do not search for xperia games cuz you'll find nothing ;). You can also check out www.inxperia.com, this website helped me a lot!!

Hi I am using X1 I love this phone the problem is that its does do up date and the internet is not working. I phone sony customer service they help me but my phone did go to the internet.I download the update after that its doent send even MMS now.What must I do?

alex... I have two mobile phones... and I use both of them frequently... one of them is X1 and it's more than 12 months since I bought it... with no defects whatsoever. I really do not understand what you mean by attacking this set.

ive been using the x1 for a year now and i love everything about it,the xpanels work great the processor is fast considering its only 528mhz camera works well and i never had problems with the phone frezzing and to top it all of spb mobile shell is awesome i strongly recommend it.

dont buy xperia x1 phone.. it has major dsiginig defet..so still cracking on housing even of normal use. my second xperi x1 (black) is also cracked at exactly the same place where my first silver xperia x1 get cracked... i m very disapponted sony ericsion ... i will never buy a sony erriction as well as htc product.. i have spent lots of time to get my second x1 from ur service center...

alex dude, i think the xperia u have, came from a trashbin. oh and btw 5800 is a gr8 phn whose lcd cracks all by itself after 5 months. a great phone indeed

Tap>menu>settings>program tap sim manager>contacts select all>then option>save contacts. all contact will save to your phone memory

Go to www.getjar.com and and down load nimbuz.jar file.then copy .jar files and paste it into your micro sd then install your x1

This phone was something i wanted for a long time but could not afford when it was out in the stores but I am extremely happy i didnt fall for this scrap metal. Indeed, It has a lot of great functions that usually apply best for the office and texts but it is as buggy as the SE Satio. I get irritated at these types of phones that maximize with great functions but cant keep them stable.

It is awful!a headache!nothing more than a rubbish and surprisingly from Sony Ericsson.The firmware is full of bugs, its too slow! hangs over and over..and its frame cracks because of its stupid material! I am working hard to sue Sony Ericsson..hopefully will get some results till April.

I have just recently acquired a sony Xperia X1. I am just beginning to enjoy the phone. However, I find the fonts to be too small for a 44 year old like me. I therefore have to use the stylus most of the time which is inconvinnient. How can I increase the fonts & icons to point where I can easily operate the phone with my finger?
