How though? I've had this phone since 2014 and it can't even run normal apps like Facebook without lagging. I had to root it and do many tweaks to make its performance good for PUBG Lite. Like in kernel adiutor, Lspeed, greenify with xposed, ram expander and speed up swap.

Most likely caused by damaged data cable or charger. Remove battery and hold down power button for 10-20 seconds. Put the battery back and try again. Has happened to me many times and always gets fixed this way. Or if you've disabled something related to camera via root, enable it and restart your phone.

This is one of the best low end phones on the market for android phones, it has 5MB Wide Camera, both rear and front camera, it also supports many modern versions of all apps, it also supports 4g internet which is pretty good for a low end phone like the galaxy grand prime Biggest issue while using the phone is the WiFi Issues, the wifi receiver of the phone is damaged once it gets overheated, an electronic circuit inside the phone is damaged, if its too much hot, if the phone is exposed to extreme temperatures, it will start to damage the electronics inside the phone...

I solved that problem by uninstalling updates for all the Google Play apps like play book, play movie and etc. They consume unnecessary space. If you a heavy apps user just delete all musics and videos. Free up a lot of spaces for apps usage. Just use the preinstalled Smart Manager. Glad Samsung provide that app in the latest update.

Did you update to Lollipop yet? Mine increased battery life significantly after updating. Battery life lasted from morning till night with moderate usage now. Before this on kitkat it only lasted from morning till afternoon.

I bought my Galaxy Grand Prime on 7-8 Jan, 2015.... still rocking this handset... battery still plays a good 7-8 hours during a decent mobile usage... including watching movies or playing videos on YouTube. Besides, the battery can go for long as 30-40 hours when you consider it as a phone for call/Whatsapp/Messenger/SMS retreiver-receiver device. I could play good games with no lag at all and use apps accordingly. Just that one good outgoing phone that does the 'job well done' for you. I love it! One of the best low budget smartphones ever produced.

You need a newer version of Android to place software on an SD card you can't do anything unless there was a custom rom somewhere, if not, you need to upgrade your phone, it's about time, it's from 2014, the very fact that it still works for you telsl you how extremely reliable this phone is/was, if you liked the phone style and brand go for a J7 duo, same materials and reliability but 32GB base + uSD with adoptable storage to place anything you want.

If camera is error. First of all power off your phone and then press and hold home button, volume down button and power button at the same time. After your phone is start press volume up button and then after 5 minutes remove the mobile battery from phone and then inter it and power on the phone. Now your phone camera is ready to use.

i have several problems with this phone. the most annoying one is that its super sensitive to touch, i mean not only does it read my fingers but everything else including the water condensing on the screen from my fingers and its really annoying because in hot weather i cant type a single sentence without it typing by itself because it cant disinguish my fingers from anything else. it had that problem ever since i started using it. also the storage is very small, i had to delete all my pictures and i still couldnt update some apps and as more time passes i have to delete more and more apps so it doesnt lag. also the lock button stopped working after a while so now i cant let my phone shut down or i wont be able to turn it on again.

I have this for over 2 years and it's equipped with 2GB of RAM (not 1GB). While that's not a lot, it seems to be enough for the phone to work very well for me. Not using it for games, neither am I downloading and installing every app that is available out there. For communication (via voice, text, email, WhatsApp, Skype, WebEx, etc), it is doing a very decent job. The camera is OK. Overall, for the price, I think it's an excellent basic phone.

It's been a pretty durable phone as well as I have a toddler and I'm a bit clumsy so it has had its share of crashing to the floor. And I absolutely LOVE the camera on this phone! Bought this phone on Jan '2015 and ever since that date I had no issues whatsoever. Good battery life as well... lets me run a 90-120 mins movie losing just about 20-28% of battery out of 100% even after a solid routine use of 3+ years. All you guys have to do is delete those lavish apps like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Messenger, etc... just keep Whatsapp as it works just about fine. Use Chrome or Firefox to run Facebook, Twitter, etc. Do have a SD Card upto 16-32gb for movies, pictures and reads... but don't put games into the external memory, as it can lag your device. One of the best budget smart phones ever made. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is even popular today and has a good resale.

If you consider buying this phone be aware that you only have just barely enough room to fit a few several apps and maybe 2 medium sized games before you're out of space and updates are impossible. The front-facing camera for some reason on my grand prime enlarges my face and distorts it and I never touched the camera options. If you are also impatient... you'll want to smash this phone against the wall because of how incredibly slow it operates with just basic functions as opening contacts, snapchat, instagram, web browsers... anything you open it will freeze for about 10+ seconds or more... I cannot open any app without having to wait for it to respond after freezing as soon as I open an app. Pros - Cheap Cons - Everything. Use it just as a basic phone and don't install too much because you're gonna need it for updates. 2/10

I feel like this is the best Samsung phone, if you want the most basic smartphone ever. Now I've had mine from over 2 years now, and I love it, but I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now. It serves the basic purposes of a phone, calls, texting, and can handle quite a few social media apps, WhatsApp , Facebook, Instagram, and all that. However only 8 gb of storage, which in reality you only have like 4 gb due to system taking up so much space, is not enough to have lots of apps and games. Also the camera is good enough quality that if you need to take a picture or a video to send or to post, it'll do the job well enough. In all, it's a good phone, not the best , but if you're desperate for a brand name smartphone at a low price, it's definitely one of the better ones.

..I bought this smartphone in February 2015. Its grey in olour and have compass with navigation capabilities (GPS) as well with GLONASS and BEIDOU satellites receiver. Its fixed quite fast ( quickly) and i'd always seen that the accuracy of it is below 9m. I'd use it till now with satisfaction for its price and its features and of course about its quality. Its 3G technology with 2600 mah battery (removable battery).Its present the Ultra Power Saving mode that could last the whole day.

This is one of the worst phones I've had my whole life. With only three weeks of use, it already said there wasn't enough space. Consider this though, the only app I had installed was....Whatsapp. Then you might think..."Ah, the memory must be full because you had it filled with pictures and videos etc.." BUT NO! I had all of my pictures and media in my 16 GB SD card. I'm not sure if it was the manufacturer or this device, but you can't set your SD card as the default storage. With this phone, you'll spend most of the time seeing how you make space for your SOFTWARE and your ONE MISERABLE APPLICATION YOU CAN INSTALL to simply *update* them because if you don't, well you wont be able to use them and then the phone you bought is basically useless. So enjoy :)

This my secondary phone. Got it wet in the rain recently. Put it in rice a few hours. Even the condensation in the camera lens is gone. Working perfectly fine now. It is quite rugged in my opinion. It is pretty much Samsung version of Nokia 3310. All the torture since 2014 on this phone havent kill it yet. Meanwhile all flagship phone be like, made from glass and ceramics. *sigh

One of the greatest Galaxy budget phones ever created. I got my Galaxy Grand Prime on 7-8 January 2015. Still using it and precisely posting this review from it. I use for about 45-50 mins of watching videos or playing normal games... I only go from 100% battery to 88-90%. Goes for easy 5-6 hours if used continously but can for a day or two with normal usage. P.S. Never install Facebook, Twitter, and Fb Messenger apps. They lag and heat up your phones. Use browsers instead like Firefox or Chrome to visit Facebook, etc. ANYONE THINKING TO BUY THIS AND IS ON A STRICT BUDGET. THEN THIS PHONE IS TOTALLY MEANT FOR YOU.

I just made my GSMArena account so that I could defend this underrated phone. I'm priveleged to be using the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime since 7 Jan '2015, so far so good. If you feel abit cynical and assume I'm overstating because I have this phone, trying to feel better than those who have the latest gadgets. But that's not the case here, right now I'm sharing my opinion straight from the 2 years n a 5 months old Grand Prime. The removable battery gives this advantage over other extravagant price-souring phones that come in non-removable ones, leaving you vulnerable to a hefty damage once your battery stops working. Whereas, my Grand Prime goes for a bulky 5-6 hour period if being used in an unrest state, but can go for a full day with normal routine use with a single charge. How to get the best battery results like me: 1. Never install Facebook App or Facebook Messenger... drains and freezes your phone. 2. Charge your phone at about 40-60% (nothing happens even if you put it when you get less than 10%). 3. Play games for about 15-20 mins and give a 30 min to an hour rest before playing again. 4. Remove charging adapter when battery reaches above 90% or show see a 100% with a lighting bolt - meaning it'a still charging. Removing at 99% is recommended though. 5. Have Clean Master App and ocassionally clean your files and ram. Note: Don't use other Clean Master fancies like antivirus and such. Keep it clean. Also, add a shortcut booster icon on your device enabling you to clean ypur storage with a single click. 6. Have 600+ mb of 8 Gb storage always available on your device - add a MicroSD for storing your pics and non-playable apps. Games will lag if you put them on MicroSD. Follow above and you can end up like me. Using Grand Prime for 2+ years and still running as good as new - fast, sleek, solidly robust and sturdy. :)

I like the build of the screen, the LCD screen is great for me. I must say 8gigs is small but an SD card fixes that. Even my sis loves her that I gave her. Protips using a Samsung. Uninstall Facebook app. Uninstall any type of battery saver app you have. Uninstall any type of anti virus or security app you have. Uninstall any type of ram management app. Tadahh! Now, you phone runs as smooth as new. All of those apps are useless and slow down your phone while draining your battery too as they runs in the background 24hours a day non stop. Good luck!

Even i have the same problem. I think that is because this is a mid range low life phone mem card slot is the 1st pat to die. I took it to a shop and they said i should change its motherboard. So i would say use it as long as it lives qithout changing the motherboard and try to take care of ot bcuz this phone has got some serious quality other than for the mem card slot. It's a great phone if you're on a budget but you wan't a decent device. It can run all the apps you need, like social media and simple games, and even some heavy duty editing apps and high caliber games. Samsung is a great company but this grand prime is a utter shame.It hangs most of the time.Didn't even got the marshmallow update...And it will never get the nougat update.Moreover it got the lollipop update after a year from its release.It has really small internal storage.So less RAM...Cann't run any game that smoothly.Take COC for ex. It takes quite a lot of time to load where another device takes only a few seconds to load at the same netspeed...Moreover it's apps require souch update..It barely leaves u with 1GB of space or even less.

The original grand prime does not support LTE. The LTE model comes after the original. Most said it sucks. Then the Value Edition came. It is a stupid low specs version using Spreadtrum chipset. Then the Plus version came. Its a mediatek version. Even worst then sucks. Overall, do not buy.

To be 100% honest... in desperate times, this phone is pretty good, however after literally just 6 months I felt like smashing this phone on the ground, It slows down overtime, storage space fills up really quickly... The front camera isn't terrible but it's not that good either... Most applications are supported... but only if your willing to only download one app at a time, use it, the delete it when you want another... This phone I only recommend for people who only use their phones for calling or texting... Definitely not for a power user(ME)... Can support Android Wear but not too well and tends to hang when smartwatch is connected... now, this could be just my device but I don't know, I've heard very many people complain about it too. This phone is way too expensive (and im a samsung fan) that costs $150 usd. Buy a different samsung phone. 1gb ram is bad and 8gb memory is a joke. You want 1.2gb ram minimum and at least 16gb memory to have lots of apps. A galaxy avant is so much better than this phone. I recommend getting a cheaper samsung phone that has better ram (a ram of 1gb is very bad!! 1.2gb or higher ram is better) and minimum 16gb memory space.

This phone is good for the firat time u buy it,but after that,it becomes a crap within 2months,hangs at every single moment,auto-rotate not working and this those in-built apps consumes so much of space and gets even bigger when u update them,leaves u with hardly 1.25GB or less.Overall u won't be satisfied with this so called mid-range 4Ghandset.Go for any other ones,Xolo,Sony,Hitech etc.Those are much better with both RAM and internal space.

I am on 4g, I can create a Mobil hotspot, my camera works with messenger as well as several other apps, and no hanging on app processes. So maybe it's not the phone but either your carrier or the person using the device.

My samsung grand 4G prime is only of 2 years old and it hange soo much.The model and appearence of the phine is really cool but its Ram and storage space is soo less.Moreover i am even not getting the marshmallow update even afetr manually checking for any recent updates.When my phone hangs..nothing works so i replace the battery and again place it and stwich on the phone.Beleive me.The battery decreases drastically!!!From 50% to either 15% or 25%.So overall performance of this model(DUOS) is not that good.

Once again another straight talk phone that cannot receive any software updates.....says unavailable at this time.....my previous ZTE phone did the same. The screen lags when entering the security pattern, about 80% of the time I have to enter it 3 times. I was not able to find an alarm clock on this phone, had to download an app. It comes with tons of apps I don't need or want, yet has little space, internal, for apps. There's soo many apps that can't be transferred to SD cards. There are 2 circles I can see at the top of my phone, that do nothing....where the last samsung phone I had an LED would light up to tell you that you have a missed call or text. This version of samsung phone is not near as good, or user friendly as the samsung proclaim that I had, and loved, bit was forced to buy a new phone since no more updates were available or ever going to be made. There are other issues I can't remember..all I can say is waaaay over priced for a phone that under performs, samsung took the cheap route building this one!

I am really pleased with this phone.After 1.5 years,he is still in fantastic shape,sometimes it gets lagy,but for me it did a great job.Battery is great,after 1.5 years her power is lower,but at the start i could use my phone 2 whole days without charging,now its usable to the end of the day.Every new app can be run smoothly and without any difficulty.The only negative thing is the recent update.The phone gets hot a lot around the camera,which was not a case with his original 4.4 android system.So i recommend that you do not update your phone,unless you have a good reason to do so.

As far as I know, Samsung phones have had OTG support since o/s 3.1 so it is most likely the SGGP will have it. The SGGP came out November 2014. My phone is the SG Core LTE and it came out in September 2014 and it supports OTG. The phone I had before the Core was the Samsung Galaxy SIIX running Gingerbread o/s (2.5) and it could support OTG and that came out about five years ago. So Samsung is ahead in the curve for OTG support in all their devices from an earlier date than most manufacturers.

My Grand Prime was Kitkat 4.4.4. and I updated it to lollipop 5.0.2 and it's faster now and apps are not crashing anymore.Only problem is that sometimes wallpaper changes to a Samsung wallpaper but nothing special.I would definitly recommend an update to lollipop. :)

Not all Grand Prime phone compatible to 4G simcard, the older version of Grand Prime is upgradeable from KitKat to Marshmallow, but still it only allow 3G network. if you want to upgrade your network from 3G to 4G, you should buy the new version of Grand Prime..

Hey there, i've been using Grand Prime for 2 years. The rear camera work very well when outdoor (natural light), but if you use it indoor (low light+no flash) it's a little bit noisy. I went from a Samsung Galaxy Core LTE to a Samsung Galaxy Prime. Best decision I could make! Honestly, I love the phone. The appearance is so much nicer, less bulky, I love the resolution. I don't find an issue with the spacing like other people on here because I use an SD card which makes life more easier for me :D I have noticed the front camera is a little finicky at times but its nothing I personally can't deal with. I'd personally choose Samsung over Apple ANY DAY! (that is, for phones :P )

It seems like this phone is getting more bad reviews than good. I, myself do not like this phone. It over heats while charging, is not compatiable with Apps that are dire for using a Samsung phone. I think it is hilarious that I was just on Androidforums.com about to find out about rooting a ZTE Citrine phone that was released in March of this year and only found a thread that some guy asked about rooting the Citrine, which is newer than this Samsung Prime and not that far off on specs. He went and told me that he instead of figuring and getting an answer to get the Citrine rooted that he purchased this older, year and half ago released phone over the newer one. Just to be rooted. WTF? Plus, he paid triple or more for the Prime than the Citrine. What kind of sense does that make? Pay more just for a rooted device? Then he tells me that people prefer larger screens is why smaller screen phones are not being supported for rooting. I had a older LG Optimus Fuel that was rooted with smaller than the Citrine. Has nothing to do with screens size at all. Nothing about what he said. It has to do with how old the phone is. The newer the phone the less chances to get it rooted right away. I feel sorry for people that rather pay more just for a get a phone rooted. Does not sound smart way to do things to me, especially when rooting a phone ruins the warranty anyways. Oh well, I hope he enjoys wasting money like that. I would never buy an older phone around the same specs just for a rooted device capability.

The battery goes down fast from 100% to 90%. After that it drain slower and slower. It is the slowest from 5% to 0%. Don't worry. Most phone is like that. I heard grand prime was supposed to be using Lollipop from the beginning since it is Samsung first 64bits smartphone but android kitkat only support up to 32bits. Lollipop is much faster in performance and that could be why battery go down faster. is it android 5.1.1?

I have a really bad problem with my Grand Prime. The keyboard hangs a lot, esp when I turn on the WiFi. The worst happened today when I turned on my wifi and turned off the display. When I turned it back on (I set it to open with a password), the keyboard just wouldn't work anymore. I can't access any of my files OR back them up before I reset it.

GSM Signal are often missing(lot of people have this problem including grand prime, J2, J5...).... I missed lots of calls due to this failure. Very bad system software, compared to Jellybean. I recommend not to buy this phone. Any way this phone supports usb on-the-go (SM-G531F).

Hello, I had a LG Android phone that would for some reason lose 4G service and would show that the phone could only make 911 calls. My fix to this problem was to power down the phone wait a minute and power back up. Another thing that I did was completely turn off the phone, remove the battery, reseat the SD Memory Card and reseat the SIM card. I was thinking that perhaps there was a poor connection with one of these pieces of hardware due to the normal day to day use of the phone. Maybe the slight vibrations of normal use caused one of these components to have an intermittent connection.

When your problem does happen. Do you set the icon on the screen showing that the phone is charging even though the battery power is going down? I've notices this type of problem when this condition occurs: With an LG Android phone I noticed that when the phone is on charge and an alarm comes on (wake up alarm used as an alarm clock to get me up) and the Snooze/Dismiss icon displays on the screen. If the phone is disconnected from the charge cable with the alert still ringing and then the alarm is Disabled/Snoozed the phone will still show that it is charging even though it was disconnected. I noticed on a few occasions that the charging circuit somehow locks up and or software glitch causes the battery to discharge and warm up. This may not be the same as what you're experiencing but the problem sounds somewhat similar.

Have you fixed the problem with your forgotten password? You can try to factory reset your phone. Here are the steps below; 1. Turn your phone off. 2. Hold power up + home button + power button all together at the same time until the phone boots up, in this way you can enter the restoration mode. 3. After your phone vibrates you will then have the option to factory reset your device. 4. To toggle from the available menus, you can use the volume up and down keys, and to choose factory reset hit the power button once. 5. The restoration process will take place. 6. Your phone will automatically boot up and it will require setup like you did when you first use your phone. Hope that this will help, I just passed by your comment.

Yes...if you dont ming loosing all of your stored data,power the phone off, then once it is completely off, hold the power button, home button and the up volume button until it boots up saying recovery mode...after that you will come to a menu where there are a bunch of options. Scroll down using the down volume button until you get to factory reset, then hit yes to the factory reset.this will reboot the phone just like it was when it came out of the box! I agree. I've only had mine 6 months. Battery over heats won't hold a charge - keeps vibrating and battery usage declines 1% every 30 seconds. Gets down under 10% and to zero while plugged into charger. Then then next day it will charge properly. Driving me crazy.

Im on my second grand prime.First one the screen died the third week I owned it.Paid $250 brande new through straight talk.Never dropped it or jarred it and didnt do anything with it that would cause a screen to go out 3 weeks after purchase.Ive had this new one 8 days and this one gets hot as hell,freezes and the screen goes black and pushing the unlock button does nothing.When it does this I have to pull the battery and restart the phone.So Im here to tell you something is definately wrong with the Grand Prime since I take extreme caution with my phones.

Just to let you know...I am not illiterate. I have two advanced degrees. My grand prime seemingly is malfunctioning as are many of the others. In the middle of conversations people cannot hear me. This is my second device. I am assured by my carrier that there is nothing wrong with their service so it must be the phone. I don't know who to believe, so, I'm switching carriers and phones. All of these People are right about their Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, I have had mine for 11 painful mixed malfunctioning months with the symptoms mentioned by these victims of a bad product by Samsung, It's like my phone is possessed with frequent goof ups from the manufacturer, Now I don't feel like I'm the only one and I have had my phone diagnosed twice by Samsung techs and they claim to find nothing but I claim a coverup to a bad product which they refuse to make good, People there are other good phones out there and it isn't Samsung, I refuse to even look at their Junk.

my samsung galaxy suck for real,i can't say i am enjoying it since i bought it in January 2016.the phone turns off most times when you dial a number,data network signal disappears and re-appears on its own and sometimes i have to turn off data and restart the phone before the net work signal will appear.What could be wrong

This phone has destroyed 2 64Gb SD cards in the last 2 weeks. I figured that my first card was bad (worked fine for 3 months), so I bought another. The 2nd was destroyed in 9 days. my grand prime , always laggy after 2 moths i purchase it , so i root it :v , and follow many tutorial in google for help it , and yeah i just only instal WA,INSTAGRAM , TUMBLR , AND BBM , not FB and massenger. cause always HANG if i install it.

OK so let's do this first off you're going to look at the people writing the reviews. They are basically illiterate it's quite obvious they neither understand how to use their phone or any of the features involved with the phone. So what I'm thinking we should do here is first look at how great this phone really is. This phone does not have a battery issue it does not have a sound quality issue. In fact none of the problems these people are having can be duplicated on my phone or any other device that I've tried this on. Before you allow people to post a review it may be a good idea for you to do a little bit of research into the people themselves obviously the owners of this phone that are posting on your site have absolutely no clue what they're talking about the grand Prime is an amazing phone worth every penny of the under $100 I paid for it and I would gladly buy several more as a backup if you're having issues with your grand Prime maybe consider looking at what you've downloaded and what websites your visiting clear the cache once in awhile do what you need to do but stop talking a phone company that's been making phenomenal devices for almost 20 years stop being such jerks about it.

I have Grand Prime g531H Its Differrent I Charged It 3-4 hours 100percent then i use it 4 hours internet Hspa+ Before Its Battery Drain Its Slightly Fast Drainer But The Performance Is very Good It Runs android 5.1 lollipop.

This is the worst phone I have ever used. I have to remove the battery all the time because it hangs a lot. The battery also drain fast, the phone always hot when I switch on the data service. I took it to Samsung service center, they fixed it, it worked for a while, but, now it has gone back to the same old problems.

Hello guys..Please help! My Samsung Grand Prime (SM-G530H) battery is drain too fast. I hardly use WiFi or other apps just normal use but my battery drains so fast i really don't know why? & with WiFi its drains so fast :( I charged 100% when i disconnect phone from charger its suddenly show 99% then time by time its drains too fast. Same problem for me. I moved pics you SD card but it only makes a copy of them So they are still in system memory and on card. When u delete them from system the pics one card are deleted too I had it 11 months and the micro usb charging port stopped working just bought a S6

The Samsung Grand Prime is the worst phone ever purchased. I have it for only four weeks. It heats up, drops calls, the calls sound like their under water prior to losing calls, the camera is a 2MP not a 5MP, my information won't store onto my SD Card, and Metro PCS nor Samsung will assist me with these problems. HELP! I'm plan to change phone service and never purchase a Samsung phone ever again! Can anyone assist me with my phone problems in the meantime????
