You can find this "original android", that exists on Google phones, at AOSP an all vendors take this code from AOSP and put it on their phones, some with more and some with less modifications, like One UI. The Lineage team takes the code from AOSP and creates Lineage OS, but with no modification except adaption for the phone. So there is no better android, it is just android from the AOSP, either compiled by the google team or by the samsung team or by the Lineage team. As of 2020, our J7-2016 will not get any security-patches, so it is better to risk a new operating system instead of risking that the phone becomes unsafe.

Yes, Original android exists on Google phones (Pixel and some Nexus models). Samsung use android and change UI and add some of their apps and Galaxy store. Android is OS , AOSP is code which android works and OS based on android. Well that phone is old almost 4 years so it is pretty good that we had at least security updates for that time. Samsung will give us support until our warrancy is not expired(hardware) but it will help you with some software problems. Updates will not come in the future because of new models and new softwares.

You cannot get "original android" because it does not exist. All OEMs take this AOSP code an modify it for their needs. As our Android 8.1.0 is getting older and older, as there are no security updates for our phones in 2020, we will soon be able to install Lineage OS 17 to fix all this. We will get LineageOS, but not from XDA, we will get it directly from lineageos.org! So everybody can choose: Stay with Android 8.1.0 or install Android 10. And this is no question of support: Samsung won't give us support because this phone expires in 2020. Therefore we will get support from the LineageOS community ...

Lineage OS is not original android, it is just based on android. It doesn't have to be safe , you have to root your phone and do every step correctly. After that there is chance that something won't work. On XDA it is always mentioned what might not work. Our phone is getting older, in hardware we can't do anything but in software we can install 3rd side OS which may work partly good. In this time , every day we can find new phones with lot of specifications, maybe it is time to buy a new phone or use the old till we can. For example S5 is using Marshmallow as a stock rom, it is really old but almost everything what we need is compatible(Instagram, snapchat, whatsapp, facebook etc...). The original os that came on the phone (in this case J7 2016) is Oreo( when you update) and for me it works great. I really want to have PIE OR Android 10 on phone and i can find Lineage OS and risk because it is not so easy to install and even with old OS(Oreo is not that old, still functioning very great) my phone works great like the first day. Why would i risk something and screw up and people in Samsung won't give me support because it is not their OS. I believe that Samsung create most stable OS for their phones , and some other people who built Lineage platform could create a pretty good OS with some new features but they mention that something might not work. We can't use this device forever but everyone should do all process with phones on their own.

While OEMs customize the AOSP code for their needs, Lineage OS remains at 100%. Having Lineage OS installed, you can choose which "bloatware" you want to install next, facebook app, whatsapp etc or you can stay free of all that stuff. Tho only difference is: Android for Nexus was compiled by the Nexus team and Lineage OS was compiled by the Lineage OS team. What is the difference, when your compile a source code two times? There is no difference. Remember, that we will not get any security updates in 2020, so our phone well become unsafe. The only option to get a modern and secure system after 2020 is to self-install a new system and Lineage OS is one.

Yes, it is android but not official google android with samsung elements. One thing that samsung keeps me to be their user is what their UI. Regular UI is boring. My point is that LINEAGE OS is good to have new version of android when your android is old but it is unsafe and you have to root your phone to install that and there is a chance of bricking phone. That OS could have lot of bugs in android but official one is more safenand tested but can happen to.

LineageOS is 100% Android, because it is derived from the "Android Open Source Project", also called "AOSP" and this is the source code from Android. But LineageOS is pure Android, so it comes without all that Samsung stuff and Microsoft stuff like UI or Word, Excel ... And there are no updates and patches, because there will be a next version of LineageOS as LineageOS 17 ( ~ Android 10) will be out in a few weeks or months.

Yes, it is true. But Lineage OS is not official android and can have lot of bugs to phone or some function problems but it is not always case. They are published on XDA but I prefer official. I am not sure about lineage updates but i don't see that safe

There was LineageOS 16 (Android 9 Pie) as an unofficial update while we got Android 8 Oreo for this phone. But now, our Android 8 get older and older, there are no updates and security suffers. I think, LineageOS 17 (Android 10) will be released as an official version of LineageOS für this phone.

Yes but there will no be official update of Pie. You can find some unofficial PIE OS for J7 2016 but it is not official and can have lot of bugs.

Go to settings > apps > Google play services > storage > manage storage > CLEAR ALL DATA, restart phone and you are done everything will be normal as before, I was so frustrated of this problem a few days ago, even bought a new battery but nothing changed, called customer support and they asked me to reset my device would solve the problem but I didn't reset my device got lots of important data all I did was reset Google play services app storage everything is fine now even tested the old battery and it is working fine, just wasted my money by buying the new battery

Well, I believe there is some software error which cannot correctly read memory status. You should go to the store and see if there is way to reload the OS or find some other errors.

Maybe you have some other variant but J7 2016 generally doesn't support screen mirroring.

Unfortunately this phone won't get official PIE. It won't get any major updates after OREO. It will just receive some security updates from time to time. You can search online and see if there is way(tutorial) to find PIE custom rom to install.

With your original charger it take 2minit to charge per 1%. If not check your USB wire try different USB cable to see if USB is damage. Mine USB cable got change 4 times till now because playing COC and charging usb defect now PUBG and charging. Dnt heavily use ur phone while charging, if you do buy a little weaker charger then charge and use no problem.

Yeah, there probably won't be any more updates for this one. It is still a solid phone to use, but main problem I had with it was low memory. But yeah, after almost three years of usage I sold this one and got A9 2018, and it is a major difference.

Well, better late than never haha. I also upgraded today to A9 2018. I got to say that it's a major upgrade. I was using J7 2016 for two and a half years and it is still a decent device for a casual user. But yeah, I needed more memory and RAM so I went for 128GB/6GB of RAM A9.

for geeks and professionals...i have a problem...after a short time from logging into my wifi network a "!" mark appears next to wifi strength indicator and when i switch into wifi configuration on my device it says"internet may not be available" under the network name...is it a general problem?!...if not,what could be the solution?...(by the way,i haven't updated the device to oreo,yet and the wired pc that connected to the same wifi router works normally...the problem happens with any wifi network regardless the strength of the connection)

I LOVE this phone, the only let-down was it has no gyroscope, but besides of that it's AMAZING... until you update it to Nougat. Ugh... The battery used to last longer on MM (6.0.1), since Nougat (7.0) and now Oreo (8.1) it wont last past 1 day and half. Oreo looks better than Nougat but pisses me off sometimes, it's slower than Nougat and some apps has graphic issues, some games are slower on Oreo than Nougat. My honest opinion to everyone who has this phone (with it's 6.0.1 stock rom) please never update it, it will lose it's charm.

Nougat: Battery will fall a little bit quicker at the beginning but will last longer at the end. So don't be afraid, when the phone shows 20% - this is enough power!

Have just updated, here in Israel, to Oreo for J7 2016 duos. So far it works OK, but I am a bit worried about the RAM available memory. It was typically about 1.1 GB under Nougat, and now it is about 0.83 GB.

True. I would still go for J7 2016 if I had to choose between those two today. Chip in A5 just isn't powerfull enough to push Full HD display, and most of the apps will not run so great. Only things that are better on A5 are more storage space, 1GB of RAM more, fingerprint scanner and more premium build. I was also deciding between those two when I was buying mine more than two years ago, but I went for J7, and I don't regret it. Using it for more than two years now, and only problem is 16GB of storage, but I don't mind it too much. I have 32GB SD card and I store pictures and other stuff on it, so 16GB is still kinda enough for me.

you can use memory card for storing your pics and movies i tried to shift apps the SD card but they dont open or work apps need to still be in internal memory for them to work the greatest drawback of this phone is 16GB internal memory which is too low for these days apps otherwise the Oreo update is fine

It has already been mentioned several times that there are no problems with Oreo update. I'm using my phone on Oreo for like two months or even more, and I can't find a single problem with it. So yeah, go ahead and update. If any problem occurs, just reset it and that should fix it, but I did not do that and everything works fine.

Let your phone get switched off automatically after battery becomes zero or minimum. Then charge completely till it gets 100% CHARGED, in switch off state. It should solve the problem, this method is known as Battery Calibration. Alternatively, check your charging cable and charger if they're in good condition. Charger should be rated at 5V=1.5A

If you go in the options of that notification,you will be able to see it there and click on it to disable the ongoing notification. I know it looks/and is weird,but that's Android Oreo,and we can't change the way it works.Every time there appears an on-going notification,just slide on the right,click the tool icon and turn off the notification. For those that face battery drain issue and slow charge,back up ur data through Samsung Cloud (or use Micro SD Card) then do a factory reset. If it still isn't resolved,than that most likely means that ur battery has degraded. When you restart the device,if it goes from eg. 86 to 76 or just the percentage drops when restarting the device,then it most likely means that the battery has degraded. I had this issue,even before oreo,and when i got oreo update,and also when i did factory reset. The solution was to buy a new battery,since I've been using the stock one for more than 1.5 years (since the day i got this device). After i changed the battery (make sure it's a certified one,if you don't want to have issues) there were no problems. PUBG with Game tools and Bagt on low - res also runs fine,and ram for me usually ends up at 800~900MB free with like less than 40 apps installed.

1.55 Amperes. It's the stock Samsung charge that I'm using. And truly, I didn't experience any touch issues while using the phone plugged in. On Naught, I used to. Whenever I tried using the phone while it was plugged in, it was pretty laggy. But again, no touch issues. It just used to lag a bit (sometimes quite a bit). I used to wonder if it was just my phone... On marshmallow, I had no such issues. I'm glad Oreo fixed it, at least for me. Coming back to yours, how bad are the touch issues? It definitely sounds a bit weird, but I don't think I would worry too much because your phone is working just fine when it's not plugged in, right? It may have something to do with the adapter you are using

I don't have that issue. Oreo works great on J7 2016. It's very smooth. And no one else has posted about the issue, I think. But it can happen after an update. I suggest you to do a factory reset once, and everything will be fine

So I did a factory reset (format the device) after I got the official Oreo update and it's really smooth. I have to say that Oreo has improved this device a - lot, and big kudos to Samsung for doing that. For others that update/will update, I advise you to do a factory data reset, but before doing it, back up any important data. Battery drain issue is solved after factory reset. I also experienced for the first time a battery drain issue, so doing a factory reset solved it. p.s don't worry about updating to Oreo. The device is great and updating won't cause any issues. Oreo overall improves this device in many ways! Go on and update. If there is no update yet in your country, be patient and wait. It will arrive, just like Nougat. I know it's slow and it takes time, but it's worth the wait. Also, PUBG runs smoother than Nougat on low graphics, and for better performance I reccomend pubg Gfx tool [Play Store] and Samsung Game Tuner [APK File]. Both will do the job right!

India. I have to say Oreo is so flawless on this phone. Multitasking is more or less the same. But everything else in general is very smooth. OS stability has improved overall. I'm glad Samsung decided to update this phone to Oreo. I've loving these little changes here and there access the OS. Very smooth. I did a hard reset after updating to Oreo. Though it's not necessary, it's definitely recommend

Unfortunately, the latest major upgrade for the J7 2016 (J710) is the Android 8.1.0 as a last so a bonus! From now on, it will only receive security updates and improvements up to the end of 2019 probable

I really doubt that Samsung will bring Pie to this one. Even Oreo was miracle in some way. But yeah, even after two years of use, I still don't need anything better, and Oreo works without a problem on this one.

Yeah, hopefully they will bring pie ;-) Anyways, you can install bad lock (a port app for good lock), and install good lock itself and the stuff you want to have, then use them. After you apply them, you will have an Android Pie like experience on ur phone. I changed the look of the recent apps, I colored the status bar black and red, etc... Aditionally I installed Andromeda today, and I themed many apps to black, since this device has an AMOLED Display, meaning it can save a lot of battery. Finally installed the update today. And it's a good one. Phone definitely feels smoother overall. I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't know if multitasking has gotten better, haven't tested it yet. But UI is definitely smoother. Before I installed the update I had 4 gb of free storage. Now I have 5.7 gb free after installing it. All in all, a nice update. Thanks Samsung! To those who haven't updated yet, just go ahead with it without any second thoughts.

Finally I got the Oreo Update. The file size is around 1GB,and my model is SM-J710F and it comes with November 1st Security Patch. About it, my phone feels bit faster, they kinda fixed the ram issue but it's yet to see how well it will be. Battery is most likely the same. Haven't tested it out so idk. New stuff is Secure Folder, and there is no Smart View, Blue light filter, or Always on Display. In terms of changes there are changes. Some are big, and some small. You get more options to customise the clock on the lockscreen, and the camera app has been changed with it. The calculator app has measurements added as well, and there are some other changes which I'm just lazy to explain. There isn't a huge difference between Nougat and Oreo, but it's of course better and I do reccomend to you all to update as it fixes lots of issues, bugs, improves speed, etc... Android Version is now 8.1.0,and I bought this device from Ledikom MK. It has the UAE Model SM-J710F. Before update I had like 1.9GB free, and now I have 3.9GB free. There is no Edge screen and no AOD. Maybe in some unofficial ROM's, but Samsung did not add it in official one.

No, European countries weren't first, but they got it soon after some countries in Asia got it. The problem here is that I am from Europe, but the model of my phone isn't, so usually UAE gets Oreo after it fully arrives in Europe.

My model is J710FN, and I bought it from store called Links in Croatia. So yeah, I did not get it from carrier. And no, as far as I see there is no way to adjust front flashlight. I also forgot to mention that secure folder was added, I believe that it was not installed before, as far as I remember. Overall, performance looks fine to me, I'm not really some big multitasker, so RAM management is not a big deal to me. What I noticed is that there might be a slight lag in animations when you jump out of some apps, but it happens rarely.

Amazing. I somehow managed to speed up mine, and hopefully with Oreo it will be even better. But since this device can not be found/bought in any Network Operators, I will need to wait for the update a bit longer (approx. a month). Hopefully it will arrive! I bought mine from a 3rd party retail store called Ledikom, and every 3rd party retail store that sells this device usually comes with the UAE model, so it takes time to get it. Tell me, is your model also UAE, and tell me from where did you buy this device exactly. About the RAM Management, I will toss a test before and after Oreo and I will see how it goes. As far as I know, RAM Management is resolved in Oreo. There is no AOD, and Blue Light Filter, but I don't need these anyways. Another thing, is there an option to adjust the front flashlight intensity in the camera app (Just like on Galaxy A7 2018)?

Everything works great, as far as I see. There are really no much differences in UI, there are gifs added on top of the keyboard, search bar was added on top of the app drawer, camera app is a bit different and app icons have more "rounded look". Performance is the same as it was on Nougat, no idea if RAM management is better or not though. Overall, good update.

APK Files for official Samsung AOD can be found on the Internet, but they won't work. Don't waste your time with that. I tried on Android 6 and Android 7 and it did not work. You're better of downloading a 3rd party app from Play Store. It might not be what Samsung offers, but it clearly does the job.

J710F version as well. I checked and nothing. Mind is the UAE Version of J710F. It could be different regions and different model. No one will get the update instantly. I know it's frustrating but we all need to wait. By January 2019,we will all have Oreo.

I guess I won't be sticking to AOD then. I used a 3-rd party app, it was fine but it had issues turning itself on/off. For Blue light filter, I have a better solution called Twilight which works fine. I have Nova Launcher Prime, and it does just fine. I themed it all black, the system, icons, made my own dark wallpaper with some text on it. It's all fine, camera still takes some good shots, but RAM Management is just bad. Hopefully it is as you say guys, improved with Android Oreo. I also have an issue with the battery, when I restart my device, or pull off the battery, it loses many % of it. Since this phone has a removable battery this problem can be solved by buying a new one, cause the life on this one has drastically degraded. I will do that after I format my device when I get Oreo. Kudos to Samsung for bringing Oreo, to what was not possible, yet it took ages for them to (because they are slow with updates), but they brought it. Hoping to see it arrive soon in Macedonia.

I doubt Oreo is going to be smoother than Marshmallow. Marshmallow was buttery-smooth, and ram management was excellent. But I hope Oero is smoother than Nougat at least, and improves on ram management which is extremely poor in Nougat.

There is no smart view and there is no AOD but 8.1.0 have some costumization options and system works smoth and fast ! You can find links for that firmware at XDA j7 subforum.

Haven't received any update since February. That's when the last update was released on my device. Model: J710F County: Macedonia Bough from: Ledikom Mobile Store I just want to say, as many have confirmed it, Samsung to satisfy it's customer needs (because lately they've been criticised about their downgrades of J and A series), has changed its update policy atleast for this device, meaning it will receive Oreo. Updates do arrive, that isn't the problem. We will get Oreo anyways, but the problem is that they take ages to arrive. Samsung should focus, just like they did with S9 and newer devices, implementing Google'S projet treble. That is a project by Google that tends to speed android updates. You can read more about it if you Google up. Samsung has inserted this into S9 devices and higher. If Samsung wants to keep its reputation and customers, they should focus more on their mid - range and low - end devices. If I'm going to change my device I won't use Samsung phones anymore. Especially not J series. I will try to avoid them because they aren't worth it. I might go with Xiaomi, or Asus because they have far great devices with far great specs for not so much cost. If I'm getting a higher budget I might consider getting a phone from Samsung's A class. Don't buy this phone anymore, it's not worth it. You can find some better devices than this, and the A class is always a better option. If you're looking for something at the price range of the J class, then I would recommend you to look at Xiaomi, Asus, Oppo, Huawei phones, because they have something great for less money.

I have this problem too. When it's connected to WIFI and I turn off to start mobile data and it wont turn on. Then i have to start airplane mode or search available networks and then it works.

Hello ! Did anyone else experience mobile data bug after the latest update? My data won't turn on unless I put my phone in and out of airplane mode first. I tried doing network reset and wiped the cache in recovery mode but nothing helped. I don't want to to do the hard reset because I'm hoping for the oreo update and I'm planning to do the reset then. I adore this device, the viewing experience, the speaker at the back and also the camera and don't forget the RAM, it somehow can manage all apps being sideloaded at once. It's worth buying the phone, and still waiting for the Oreo update for this one to see how much improvement it got after upgrading from Nougat.

As far as I know, Samsung decided to remove that feature, so it is not really possible to do it. You could maybe do it with rooted phone, but I'm not sure. It is a stupid move, but oh well... Storage is small but I live with it somehow.

And yes, I already saw somewhere that Oreo update is in testing phase, plus GSM arena J7 2016 info is updated and it says 8.0 Oreo. So yeah... we just need to wait. Fetch info about "on8" which is another variant of J7 2016. FHD display, 3GB RAM & older chipset Exynos 7580 which was also used in J7 2015.

Yeah, it is still a good phone. Battery lasts for two days for me, if I really stress it out I need to charge it every night. Performance is good, heavy apps might stutter a bit here and there, but it is normal for a two year old phone. But yeah, it is still a good one if you want to use it for usual stuff, like messaging, browsing, taking a picture here and there and similar. It even runs games like PUBG, so I consider it "strong" enough.

Nope. I live in Europe and I have 2GB of RAM version. And everything works fine on it. I don't really know why people complain all the time. Of course it won't be multitasking beast. It's Samsung UI with only 2GB of RAM in the end. Maybe they could optimize it a bit more, but I doubt that they will, since it is a two year old midranger.

I just stumbled upon a YouTube videos, showing Oreo 8.1 on J7 Nxt. And J7 Nxt runs Oreo 8.1 without any issue (from what I saw in the video). Of course a short video can't narrate the whole story, there's much more to it. But still, I can safely assume that J7 Nxt runs Oreo 8.1 just fine, as well as it runs Naught. Which is a really good thing because both j7 06 and j7 nxt are basically identified when it comes to the internals. Both have 2 gigs of ram too. So I think Oreo will run just fine on our j7 06 too. I'm looking forward to the update already

True, it also happens to me. Everything else is lag free, but play store makes it lag for some reason. Even when I receive notification that updates are available, phone will start to stutter for a few seconds, and then everything will turn back to normal. I guess that Samsung needs to push out some update that will fix this. It was not happening before, but started like a month ago or something. Oreo might fix it, it's not a big problem but it would be nice to see a fix.

Very disappointed. A forced update has been issued on this that is my father's phone. It destroyed everything, removed even unlinked data from the internal memory like picutres. Data retention my ass. I am tired of working to restore this lousy phone, oh and interface has been worsened, app drawer icon disappeared, camera interface much more unintuitive and clumsy. The next time I will pick a different manufacturer for phones that I'll hand to my relatives, parents and possibly advise anyone else not to buy SAMSUNG, because of the big time loss and shuffling of features. I don't like being shuffled around and I do not like WASTING my time with stup1d teenager like developers that think that scattering features around and UIs is FUN and innovative.

Yes there are no problems in Europe with J7 2016 because no updates have been received since April 2018. Still no update from April! Security Pach 1 March 2018. But a problem appeared to me and there seems to be a bug on the camera when recording the video the phone remains stuck and I had to remove the battery to start.It would be better to get it to Oreo 8.0 as soon as possible

There's no mistake. Oreo update is not for J5 2017, but it's for on5 2016 which is a variant of J5 Prime, with 32gb storage & 3gb RAM. Of course, it is late, that's why they mentioned the word POSTPONE.

Yes, it's possible to go back to Marshmallow. It's easier compared to other brand devices, using the Odin Tool on PC. Just Google the term... "J7 2016 downgrade"

Is not fake news! Is possible to get the update to 8.0 because it is not normal for the J5 2016 to run 7.1.1 a higher version and J7 2016 with a much better processor to stay with just 7.0! J7 2016 in Romania does not have VoLte does not have a Wi-Fi call and the J5 2016 has received it with the upgrade to 7.1.1. That's why I say it's not normal for a weaker model with a much weaker processor to stay with better software.

First, the instructions you've provided are not clear at all. Secondly, you are not an engineer at Samsung (Please don't take offense). We have no reason to follow these troubleshooting steps, whatever you've posted, you probably copied it from somewhere. It might brick our phone if something goes wrong. And thirdly, just because you have no issues with the update (I'm glad you don't), don't generalize that there are no issues with this update and that this update is flawless. There are hundreds (maybe more) who are facing three issues mentioned. It's not that they are lying about it.

Really? I made the mistake of downloading and installing the update right away, without looking it up first. Now I'm stuck, no Volte. I can't make calls, calls are not coming through, etc. I am pretty upset about it, this update. How can just blindly ask others to install the update? It's beyond me. Yes I buy the A5 2017 because it is smaller in size it has a Full HD display gets frequent updates to the J series and came with 8.0 Oreo directly from the factory! plus it has many more features. As the minus the battery is less than the J7 2016, but considering it has a full HD display and a battery of less than 3000mhA, always on display justifies the consumption of the more powerful processor octa core of 1.9Ghz and 3Gb ram!

Not true! in 2017 I buy the J7 2016 with 210 Euro and now I buy the A5 2017 with 215 Euro. The J Series is very poor at the sensors very hardly gets updates and I waited a lot until it received 7.0 Nogat and 8.0.0 Oreo is not even know if it gets anymore! So it's not worth investing money in J Series phones when you can find good deals on A Series phones. A5 2017 came with 8.0.0 Oreo straight out of the box!

It's ok if you feel that way. I don't think I will change from J710F for next few years. This phone has 0 lag even after 2 years, and the battery lasts a whole day for me. Only disadvantage is small storage but it's a small inconvenience for an awesome phone.

Boys I got rid of J7 2016! Today I managed to buy a superb A5 2017 blue that cost only 215 euros. I'm never going back to the J series. The phone unlocked it at home and already had its factory installed directly from the Android 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience 9.0 boxes. Immediately we received a 288 MB software package with various improvements. The security package is on June 1, 2018 plus it has a bunch of features in addition to the J series. I am very pleased with the A5 2017 and I will never buy anything in the J series J series is sucks!

i cant believe what u just said...not keeping your software up to date has also got its own setbacks..issues like hanging, heating , automatic turn off or restarts, all these are frequent when u dont update your software.. moreover your security is also at risk....one thing i do agree is that with marshmallow the battery life is superb...but there are no exciting features available in marshmallow..for example in nougat u can multitask beautifully because of its split screen and pop up view features apart from a handful of other features..yes u might have to compromise on your battery life a little bit with new features of new os but still its worth it..so what i can conclude is that it is never a wise idea to keep your software down dated..

To solve the battery charging problems. You need to calibrate your battery. To do so, Deplete battery by using your phone till it reaches 0% & gets switched off automatically. Once switched off, now charge for 3 hours continously, by then it will reach 100%. After charging completely, remove the charger & leave it for 15 mins. Your battery should be calibrated by now and is ready to use with the problem solved. Make sure your phone should be switched off for this calibration charging. Use original box charger only or 5V~1.5A charger.

there are already sources saying that this device will receive oreo including samsung representatives..it will receive oreo because it is running 7.0 unlike some other devices with 7.1.1....samsung france live chat has confirmed it..also the name of this device was present in a leaked list that surfaced several months ago...unless it receives a 7.1.1 update, rest assured it will receive oreo as the last and final os update...

Yes, we need an update to fix the ram management. It was great on Marshmallow, but Marshmallow had tons of bugs. If there weren't bugs, I would have returned to Marshmallow.

but the thing that is making me to hold my breath is that j52016 which is a lower model than j72016 is running an os version superior to j72016..that is nougat 7.1.1 whereas j72016 which is a higher model is only running 7.0..and again there are sources indicating that 2 of the 2016 devices ie j72016 and j7prime are atleast in the oreo update picture...who knows...only time will tell..

I'm not sure why everyone's crazy about Oreo. Just don't understand why everyone's running after it. This phone runs well on Nougat. It's processor is capable of running Oreo, but just 2 gigs of ram? It might be a problem. Ram management is already poor as it is (on Nougat). I'm afraid Oreo will make it only worse. If anything, I just want an update that improves ram management. Because there are phones out there with 2 GB of ram, running Nougat, and they handle multitasking like a champ. Apps don't reload as often. I want an update that at least makes the ram management as good as it was on marshmallow. But I'm not holding my breath. We probably won't get such an update. It's still a good phone

People, It's about the price and class of this phone, not the processor it is running. That's why this phone won't be upgraded. I know that A series usually get 2 major upgrade, but that's because they're upper mid-range. I still hope i'm wrong but unfortunately samsung isn't gonna treat us with Oreo

Hi I'm using this device last 1year. Every things are good, never heats up, 1.5 days battery backup with 4g volte active internet connection and normal use. And 13-14hrs for heavy usage like playing game like gta vice city, asphalt airborne 8, bia iii, clash of clans, watching videos on youtube. Overall the device is awesome. I love it more for amoled display. I'm using 7.0 naugat, androin security patch label 1 April 2018. I'm giving 10 on 10. Go for it.

It is kinda possible. It is a midranger so chance is not so big, but many other phones that will get it are also running on Exynos 7870, so chance that J7 2016 will get Oreo is slightly bigger because of that maybe... Only time will tell.

Well actually it is. I changed my charger with new samsung original charger and after few cyclus of charging and battery life is increased. Before it could last for 1 day but now it can reach 2 days. I charged it 2 days ago at midnight and about 30 minutes it was on 7% . Whole 2 days

AOD = Always on Display. Just like you said, it can display time, notifications and content while the phones screen is locked. This won't drain battery and it works best on OLED/AMOLED panels only, cause they show deeper blacks and cause they don't take up battery at all,unlike IPS/TFT displays where it's the opposite.

Actually I went to the store and they told me that maybe battery is old but that is not the problem. Maybe it is about charger , so i tried with samsung original charger and it seems better. Use a battery calibration. Here the step 1. Drop your battery until 0%. (Make sure your phone cant life) 2. Charge until 100% (in off position) 3. Then turn on your phone, if there aren't 100% then charge again in on position until 100% 4. Shutdown your phone and charge it again and make sure the battery indicator is 100% 5. Repeat all step until it has same indicator Thats work for me for battery indicator issue

Exactly the same thing has been happening with mine, ever since I updated my phone recently, received a 230 mb update. I went ahead with it. Now I charge my phone up to full, take it off the charger, use it for 3-5minutes and battery percentage drops from 99 to 93. I restart it, and it drops to 83. That's ridiculous. I know for a fact that it never happened before, on marshmallow and even on Nougat. It's been happening ever since I download installed the last update. I even factory reset my phone, but the problem still persists. And I'm using a genuine Samsung charger, the one that came in the box, and it's in perfect condition. It's not damaged or anything like that

Maybe it's just a bad battery. I'm running Nougat for several months now, and I never had any problems with battery or anything else. If factory reset did not fix it, then it's probably just a bad battery. Charger really does not matter, any micro USB charger should work normally.

I had this phone since June of 2017. It works perfectly but for about 1 or 2 months battery is horrible, before it could last 1-2 days with the same apps, the way of use in MARSHMALLOW and in NOUGAT. But now it lasts maybe for about 1 day but it is charged to 100% and it battery drains to ex.93% and when i restart mobile it is on 83% , so it is about 10%. That's too much and It's drains too much when you use it. My original charger was broken , but it charge , maybe that is the problem. I had contacted SAMSUNG and they told me to reset the phone, i did it but the same thing. I tried with another correct charger but it is the same. THE power saving is on always but just the same. bATTERY IS NORMAL SIZED, do somebody have same issues, what to do? Should i replace charger, or battery or send to fix it. Please help me, except that mobile is great. Thanks

I think battery life in android N is a little poor than M version, but just a little. I dont know is doze that work as battery saver in M still working in N version? But outside that with upgrade to N version you will get some cool feature such as gaming mode, new ui, multiwindow, and much more. So i think upgrade to N is best way. Btw i'm indonesian too :)

PUBG is playable on medium, but I just drop it to low, since I get more FPS with it. It's still a new game so I expect some optimization in future. But yeah, other stuff like Ashpalt 8 and similar runs on high for me without any problems.

Well, I just took a look at some battery reviews for Xperia and it seems fine to me. It will get you through the day in any case, as far as I saw. Size of 2,700mAh is smaller than J7's 3300mAh, but considering reviews that I just saw there should not be any problem with it, and I saw similar numbers to what I get on my J7 2016. Camera will probably be similar, and if you really care about camera go a newer flagship. It probably won't be too good in low light, but it will produce decent pictures in a decent lightning conditions. Same thing as my J7. It will do the job, but don't expect flagship grade results. And about SAR, I don't really know too much about it, and to be honest I don't even care too much. But yeah, when you add all up I would still go for Xperia.

J7 2016 is still great, but out of those few you mentioned Xperia A1 Ultra is the best one. Z3 and Note 3 are already a bit too old if you ask me, and you won't get any updates or any kind of support if you pick them up. So yeah, I would go for Xperia A1 Ultra.

I told that it's not low for everyone, but out of 16GB you only get around 11GB free. So yeah, in today standards that's considered low, but it is still fine if you don't install ton of apps. I bought 32GB Samsung SD card and I'm placing stuff like music, pictures and videos on it, and I can live with that. All in all it's still a solid phone.

Yeah, it's still a nice phone. Only downside are Samsung updates which will probably end soon, and a bit lower memory if you use a lot of apps. But yeah, it still can run anything I throw at it without a problem. Even most demanding stuff still runs on it, including PUBG. And yes, I'm using it for around year and a half now and I'm not even thinking of changing to anything else.

Yeah, right. There is still no Oreo for this phone and there is a big question if there ever will be. Even if we get it, it will probably be in October or something like that, since I also received Nougat in October last year. But yeah, Samsung usually releases one major update for their lower end devices and midrangers so I don't really hope too much for Oreo. There is a chance, though. Only because J5 2016 received Android 7.1 and we are on 7.0 , which still does not make sense to me. Maybe that will be J5's final version and we might get Oreo? Who knows, only time can tell. And yeah, my security patch is December 1st 2017.

Well, yeah. Why not. Custom Roms are always better because the developers of them can put tons of more features on their custom roms, they should be clean without bloatware and/or any pre installed apps. They should also work on most Android devices out there but you'll have to be very careful installing them cause you will have to root your device first. You should always get the latest updates if you get any and they tend to work smooth on most devices!

Samsung is still releasing phones with Exynos 7870, and those will probably get Oreo since it's first major update for them. So, that basically means J7 2016 can run Oreo without a problem. It clearly says SMART VIEW, meaning both your TV and Phone need to be smart.In this case as you say your TV is not smart,nor it's a Samsung.If it's smart then look for an option if you can cast your device to your tv(must be connected on the same wi-fi/internet network with your tv).If your TV is not Smart but does have a casting/share option or something similar,then try pairing your device to it and see if it works.If not then you can't do anything around it. Anyways since you mentioned Mirascreen casting then it could be possible,so check out this video i found:

Cheers again! I installed the update and from what i could spot it did indeed improve my device a lot. So my model number is SM-J710F.Anyone in UAE (And those who have that model too,no matter if they live/don't live in UAE,just like me)should get this update. The current baseband version is (for me atleast): J710FXXU4BRA5. The update installed successfully, nothing wrong happened.My device did indeed heat up a bit while it was in the process of installing the update which is pretty normal. Battery backup seems fine,and so does the charging time i guess. After the update i noticed the ram management was indeed improved much and now my device feels way faster and apps load way faster. One thing i noticed in the system memory was before installing the update i had like 1.1GB of free memory and now I've got 3GB free.It's because of the bugfixes,and i suppose there's more avaiable ram. Samsung..... simply the best! Beyond infinity!!!

It's not normal. It means something is wrong and you should go to a Samsung Authorized Service in your country. The security package in Europe is on December 1, 2017 and needs the phone to run Android 7.0.

Ha ha..thats funny You can disable it...Go to setting-APPS-Select which apps you dont want to show on the lock screen-scroll down -APPS SETTING-NOTIFICATION-LOCK SCREEN-select "HIDE CONTENT" Hope it will solve your problem....

Mine's the opposite of yours, when i receive a notification my screen turns on, which is what i don't like.Any solution how to disable that?

Dear Friends, I am using this phone since 3 days,i am not able to read any notifications on the screen when its locked.For example,when have recieve a whatapp message,i can only here the notification sound,but nothing visible on the screen like my iphone.If I want to see who has sent the message,then i have to unlock the phone.Its really annoying.I did all the notification settings on,hide message is disabled.But still doesnt work.This phone is running on android 7.Is there any soluton to solve this Or This J7(2016) doesnt have this feature?please help me...am new to android. Hmm I've been charging my phone with a different charger like some time after i bought it and i realized that it used to charge really slow.It also had an issue back in Android Marshmallow that it would charge my phone up to 96% battery only.Then i read here and i realized that i had to use the stock charger brick and cable.I avoided them because they were big and the cable it had wasn't long enough.After using the stock brick it did somewhat improve the charging time a bit.But now the cable it had was making a problem,so i deceided to buy a new one(a longer one).I went to the nearest electronics shop and i got one which was around 1,2~1,5 meters long and which had a better material build.I started using it with a different smaller Samsung charging brick and indeed it was fast, really fast.I then switched back to the stock brick and that cable i bought and it did indeed show better results in terms of charging time compared to the other bricks and cables I've used.Some time later,i got an opportunity to receive an Adaptive fast Charging cable from Samsung and i just put it on that cable and started using it for charging my device.I'm now using it and from the tests I've done it does not seem to improve my device's charging speed whatsoever.But atleast it goes the max. It can and it's a small brick which is fine to me.Regarding to issues,I've never faced any charging or battery issues,thus the charging brick indeed does sometimes over-head but that's nothing serious.I suppose this device's maximun amperage is capped at 1,5 and even if you get a 5A charger nothing will happen and it will charge it to it's max.I study electronics and i know these stuff.If as you say that brick could "destroy" my phone then i wouldn't have bought it and be so stupid to kill my phone smh.

Dont try it if its not genuine or samsung's product, It could damage your device's charging circuit by overheating it. But if you are not getting your device fully charged from0 to 100 % in 2hours and 45 minutes from your old stock charger then try changing data cable and remember to check more than

I don't understand how people having issues related to battery backup are 'misguiding' or 'misleading' others? Sounds funny, haha. Glad to know you're enjoying the update, as much as I am. That's the truth actually, performance is just as good (slightly better maybe). But for me, battery backup isn't as good as it was prior to the update. It's still good, but not as good. Same goes for multitasking. And I've checked my friend's/relative's J7s too. So I'm not the only one. Bottom line is - I'm not 'misguiding' others when I say that battery backup isn't as good. Lol

I just updated like an hour ago. Everything seems the same, only difference I can spot is that weather widget opens faster, like it was on Marshmallow and icons in folders are a bit smaller. So far so good.

Yesterday I bought an Adaptive Fast Charge Samsung adapter.I didn't got really to test it because my battery was at 95%.From what i have seen,it seemed that it started charging faster(i hope so).So I'm asking you guys to tell me if this phone is Fast Charge compatible, will it charge faster than before,etc...You should tell me if you have tested it,i have the exynos version (SM-J710F). And by the way for those who don't know if this works out then i will do a comment about how to speed up the charging process on this device.

What a phone "Awesome"....... Only this phone under 10k best battery phone....... Battery is removable which is advantage but some cons like speaker on cam side, no light sensor, no magnetic sensory, 16 gb internal memory low, no fingerprint if u avoid this then go for it :)

My J7 2016 is just like yours, its normal, its just the software not your screen, It sometimes have the fuzzing when turning on the screen, sometimes don't, Don't worry about it, its normal

Same here but I think thats not a big case. To solve the problem instantly just maximize your screen brightness and again back it to the normal brightness. I hope it helps.

It's the same here. I did not try to factory reset it though. I just think it's problem with software. It happened on Marshmallow and happens on Nougat now. I don't mind it too much, but yeah I hope for an update or something that will fix that.

If you want to play games just get J7 2016 and you are good to go. It can run basically everything you throw at it. Only problem is not so big memory, so you really can't install a lot of apps and big size games. And about J8, I guess that we will see. No idea about that one since it's not even out yet.

Sometimes my phone's screen becomes fuzzy grey when I wake it up from sleep mode. Is it normal? Surely doesn't seem normal to me, but is it a common issue? Should I worry? It doesn't happen always. In fact, it happens rarely. When I wake it up from sleep mode, screen becomes grey. What I do is I just turn off the screen and turn it back on and it gets back to normal. I would still go for J7 Pro. It has better screen, more RAM, more storage, fingerprint scanner and better premium build. Only downside is that CPU is the same as the one in J7 2016, so if you are a gamer you will totally feel that, since it needs to push higher resolution, and there is no removable back in J7 Pro if you care about that. But yeah, in like every aspect J7 Pro is better.

That's interesting. We're yet to see how well J7 16 runs Oreo, if it runs as well as it does now, on Nougat (if and when Oreo makes its way to this phone). It's CPU is very capable, we all know that, it's good enough. But processor and RAM go hand in hand when it comes to overall speed and performance of a device. It's got only 2 gigs of RAM, which isn't horrible, but definitely not as good since most of the smartphones we see today have a minimum of 3 GB of RAM, which is a norm these days.

That's true. Battery life on Nougat is inferior compared to what is was on marshmallow. It's still good though (or very good), but just not as good as it was prior to Nougat update. Mine could easily last a day and a half on a single charge, even though I am a heavy user. On moderate use, it could easily last two days. It was heavenly! It really was.

I guess contacts get automatically backed up to our Google account. As for text messages, go into settings - Cloud and accounts - Backup and Restore - Backup settings - Now you can choose what you would like to back up. Make sure your toggle off Apps, music, home screen, & documents, if text messages are all that you want to back up.

Do factory reset after upgrading ur phone to Nougat will make it run smoothly. But for me the only thing that I dont like after upgrading to Nougat is the battery life feel so less. It eating ur battery life much faster than before.

Just a suggestion - Don't forget to factory reset your phone once Nougat is installed, if you can. It does help the phone run a lot smoother. Even if you can't, you should be fine. But as I said, factory resetting it once does help it run a lot better. And don't forget to back up all your data prior. I didn't factory reset my phone after I updated it to Nougat. I must say Nougat was running ok on it, but still I had a few minor issues (issues nonetheless). One day I decided to factory reset it, and the difference was clear. I'm sure it'll fix most of the issues that you're facing.

Nerve happened to me on marshmallow. But it does happen now. It's annoying, yeah. I factory reset my phone couple of days ago, and gallery app doesn't feel laggy anymore. It's completely smooth now. But I'm pretty sure the problem will reoccur in a couple of weeks, or maybe three. (I must add that it was not completely laggy. It just stutters. It's perfectly usable. And I can live with a little bit of stutter. But still, as I said earlier, it feels slightly annoying)
