Samsung P300 - User Reviews

  • This phone has the design of a calculator... literally!

  • Actual Price = 69.00EUR * */ ! \ NO GUARRANTY ABOUT SITE ORDERS!

  • bought this phone here in the Philippines 2006. no problen since the first day till now 2012. it fits anywhere and the battery life extends up to 5 days on standby mode with occasional texting and call. just looking now for the replacement of the leather case with battery moulded inside the case. really a great phone though.

  • I am using the Samsung P300 for the past five years. I would like to have the spare battery with the cover and the keypad button for my P300. Hope you can arrange the same for me. please be kind enough to revert back. Regards, M B SREEKUMAR.

  • there is one here in Bolivia, brand new, but they are asking $us 450 for it, i like the looks but is it really worth it?

  • You can find one on ebay if you are lucky.

  • Can you tell me where can I find one of this model in mint conditions? I'm interrested in buying one. Rodrigo Sousa - Lisbon, Portugal

  • It looks like my old Sharp calculator especially with that leather case =P

  • anyone have any idea where can i fully service and repair this phone... is quite hard to find repair shop to serivce this phone in malaysia

  • Really old. we should keep it at museum now.

  • The most unique phone ever! Even by todays standards, it is a marvel. Will always turn heads and invite curiosity. Great phone, great size (No pun intended) and works flawlessly. If you can find one-GET IT!

  • it was never expected to hold such a mobile .. after i lost my old mobile .. i went to the market to buy a new one !!! i came back home holding the p300 - used one !!! until now i dont remember why i was pushed to buy it !! after i did i said to my self its temporal !! and now ... its about a year .. and its still working wthout any complaining even the too many shocks and drops ... its very poweful machine .. the batteries last two and half a aday i never expected it will last that long with me !!! may be GOD guided me to buy it .. it costed my that time 4000 Syrian Liras .. about 87$ its very rare here in Syria .. i only saw it once with someone else !!!!

  • This is one of my favourite phones I have ever used. I got it in 2005 on launch day in the UK and have used it every day since. Sadly earlier today my stupid fat cat knocked something onto the screen and now it is unreadable. No one seems to make small phones anymore, I just want a tiny phone for calls and sms but all of them are weighed down by functions I don't want. The Xperia X10 mini is ok, but it is still double the thickness of the Samsung P300. It seems the only company making truly tiny phones are Modu and the reviews are pretty much universally rubbish. I definitely recommend getting a P300 if you're looking for a teeny tiny reliable second-hand phone. 10/10

  • Hi, I'm interested in your P300. Is it still available? And how should we establish contact? MKL

  • yup..wat ur offer ? and izit stil new or used 1 ?

  • I have 1 unit mint condition, are you still interested? (SG)

  • do u guys know where still have sell P300 around asia? if possible locate at singapore or malaysia is the best

  • one of it's kind. very unique design and fully functional.

  • simply i love this phone.

  • you will not find any other new model of the P300 size in the market presently to fit into your wallet. so preserve it and find a new battery on ebay for around USD 8/- each.

  • I have been using the P300 since 2005 with no problems. I'm still using it except my batteries now have to be charged nightly. I won't mind getting a new one exactly the same if it is still available. If only I can find another mobile phone that will fit in my wallet, with my credit cards. Great design Samsung.

  • try to find a calculator which looks like mobile phone.

  • bloody calulator i dont know y on earth some one have designed a phone like this

  • people do not know to appreciate a calculator look alike mobile phone.......what if there a mobile phone look alike calculator...........take it easy guys and enjoy using this minimalist design. Since it's an outdated model it's real scarce to find one and in case you find one get it. I am sure you are going to enjoy using it. I owned on before and recently I bought again one on ebay for USD.66/- which is in excellent condition.

  • what is the calculater

  • it looks like a calculator does it actually have a calculator?

  • quanto costa questo telefono adeso,e dove posso contattarvi per maggiori informazione?please mi faccia sapere.

  • Its no point replacing the keypad on one of these phones reason being its proably worth more than the phone your better of trading it in and buying another phone

  • When This Phone came out and saw a college of mine using this, I REALLY2 wanted to heve this as a sceond phone, since my primeary phone is a Sonyericsson P910. it's slim and smal design is just right, looks exclusive with it's lather walet (also extra batery). and with out the lather wallet it fit into a normal man wallet. But I did not have the chance to own this phone. now Already using a Black Berry 8900. But still consider this phone a good design phone.

  • Wonderful Calculator!!!!!!!!!! Are u paying 10k for a calci???? by, *Mu2

  • looks like ELKA omg :)

  • my p300 is cool and still going strong since 2006. but key pad is gone, faded, where can i get another?

  • excellent phone... but a big " - " coz no memcard :(

  • for the god sake can u tell whether its a Mobile or a CALCULATOR!!!!!!!!!

  • it suppose to have slot card.

  • Samsung p300 is a very good fone and is easy to use, ring tone have no problem..it is loud and fone looks like a little cute calculator..

  • Looks like a nerdy calculator.

  • Awesome phone with very good battery life, but the its got big problem with ringtone. its not loud enough

  • these still fetch good money. the case is awesome and better that its a backup battery. i would gladly use it as a day to day device. only problem is that the ringtone is not loud at all and i was missing alot of calls because of it. Tip. if you want to get it louder. get a program called cool edit pro for your pc/mac and amplify any mp3/ringtone on it then copy over to your mobile. this will make it much louder. be carefull not to amplify it too loud or you WILL damage your speaker or even damage the quality of the track.(distortion)

  • i have this phone indoors, this is brilliant phone for its money. surprisinglythe 1.3 mp camera is brilliant it is better than my 3.2 mp sony erricson. The only thing is it does not take external memery card but i think it has enough enternal memory anyway. I really recomend this phone 10/10. And a very smart looking phone.

  • im using this phone and everytime somebody see's it, i know what they will say-- is that a calculator??--i would actually say yes and would say -- yes its a calculator and you can also do txt messages...hehehe!!the phone is really cute it have a reserved battery in it you can turn it on without actually putting the battery thats the best thing in this phone, being ready in case you run out of battery.. but its true that the ring volume is to low and you can't customized the message tone too bad hope the samsung can do something about this.

  • no

  • Does the P300 takes external memory card...? Tanks

  • Does ur P300 ring loudly? IF trully, i can't hear it in my pocket.

  • it's cute, handy and easy to use. it is a good phone. the only thing that the samsung needs to improve is the ringer, wav tones for message alert tones and the memory card slot so that the user can store more files.

  • I have this Samsung, too! So cude, little and good! The voice call is so loud and clear. The battery lasts a few good long days. I am impressed by P300. I wonder if P310 is as great as this one.

  • Itz not a phone iTz a calculator!!!! =p

  • im so proud having this kind of exotic phone. the only problem i had is its speaker when in your pocket only your purse can hear its ringing tone or alarm or else you have to wear always your earphone so not to miss a call or urgent message. good to be a second phone.

  • ha they should of called this fone the samsung casio calculator

  • hi guys . i'm using this phone for abt 1 and 1/2 year. my friend says its a smart and cool phone. but it has very less feature than of others.....

  • i have this phone for about 1 year, n my friends tought its a calculator!! But after I told them that is a phone, they said 'that is an expensive calculator'..

  • am using this pretty thng for a year.. wherever i go people are curious.. gud fone to show off.. gud as a second fone ( kols and msgs).

  • So this is a smartphone, eh? Well, if being smart means having no card slot, no OS and no offise applications, then this is one of the smartest phones i've seen (not the smartest though). Someone said it's easy to carry in your pocket... well that's true! And that's because you have to empty your pockets in order to buy it. lol

  • Harami fone, very good calculator. It is definitly calculator but where is the calculator in this phone bcoz no one want to have it without calculator.

  • Same size as a credit card ! What more does a bloke want ! Toys for boys.

  • samsung great like all features very comfotale thanks for samsung technology

  • it looks like a calculator

  • excellent smart phone congrats to samsung to bring this phone

  • Like it very much!!!!!!!!

  • What is special about that phone actually ? , i think it is normal , and extra expensive

  • i had this phone 2 months ago... and until now it makes me so popular... its the thinnest phone they've ever seen here in our town... and it is so comfortable to bring to everywhere, cause its just like a calculator! but this calculator has a mp3, sms & mms, camera & video, java games, web browser, etc... definitely ITS COOL!

  • this phone is bigger than my house.

  • The guy below me has rightly said. Small minds always think small. If someone is not interested in this model they may as well not buy it, so why on the earth comment unnecessarily. There is nothing wrong with this model if we compare with other makes. It's thin & light, hence easy to carry in our pockets. Why to carry an elephant when you can do it with a mouse. Samsung has gone a long long way to produce something unique to appeal the high end society. The build quality is great and it performs satisfactorily. This mobile is not for the people who dont know to appreciate good things in their life. So guys/gals who dont like its looks stay away from this model.

  • every second person in this column has said it's a freaking calculator. strange as these people goddamm what they think of technological marvel. instead of appreciating there seems to be lot of negative impressions that's what the small minds do think of. samsung has gone too far to prove that best of things comes in small packages. well done samsung. i rate this phone 5/5 though there are some glitches (which phone is perfect anyway)i like this model very much. it's almost perfect and a lovely performer.

  • This is a realy great phone in principle. It is quirky with lots of features some of which DONT work. One problem is with the software (PC Studio II). The calendar that is in the software does not match with that in the phone so inputting items in the calendar from your PC is confusing. I got on to samsung about this and told them but they have been unable to solve the problem after 9 months. I urge anyone who has a phone that uses PC studio II to get on to samsung if they are having the same problem.

  • i no it is a calculater well lokes like 1 but i no it only has 80mb memory my mate has got 1gb without a memory card?????

  • The Mutts Nutts!!! Easy to use, excellent design. Good enough spec for Joe Bloggs and VERY reliable! 5/5.

  • yeah. original. like a 1980's desk calculator made into a mobile kind of original. so y'all designers can enjoy your ugly crap... by yourselves... ew. i'll pass.

  • Totally chic and classy. Samsung continues to deliberately separate itself from the stereotypical dimensions of the conventional mobile phones. Too bad Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola et al couldn't pull off a breakthrough handset as this. For those who hate it, it just proves one thing about you: Cheap.

  • THATS ONE UGLY MOBILE!!! No offence but looks like a damn calculator!!!

  • This phone is stunning...as a designer by trade, I tip my hat to this piece of art. And for those who can't deal with its calculator look - don't worry there are plenty of run of the mill handsets out there for people with a taste for the unoriginal

  • hahaha dis fone is gr8 can use it n exams..no1 will notice its a fone!! muahahahha

  • i think thats a casio calculator..hahaha, it realy looks like a calculator...

  • Love and hate it. Is it just me or is the reception just bad? Everyone complains that they cant hear me. Never had this problem with any other phone. But he.. I love the design and how robust this little thing is... It felt on the flor like 10 times and works still fine ish. :) Bit of a shame is as well, that you cant use ur MP3's or Sounds as Ringtone or Wake Up call.

  • i love the idea of this phone and i am getting one for my birthday because they are not too expensive !

  • ugliest phone ever.

  • samsung is truely steppin it up in the unique design department. im pretty sure they dont have to worry about any of their competitors stealing this design...very innovative in the calculator department.

  • i cant hear it ringing even when on vibration.Am always missing phone calls.

  • I was recently in California and the phone could not find a service provider. I thought it was triband.

  • hahahaha a frikin calculater!!!!..

  • Styling is ace... Battery in case is superb..... Downside can't hear it ring in pocket/handbag

  • the phone is excellent, its a masterpiece of modern technology , nokia is no where near a comparision

  • umm its just like the old fashion calculators but nice features, almost like the motorolas.. bye

  • I've just won this mobile phone on a competition and came here to see ppl's opinion but I have to say... I LOVE YOUR COMMENTS!! "and grandma would say: children nowadays are crazy, talking using a calculator?" AMAZING!! I love you guys... :) Greetings from Portugal :p

  • looks lyk a calculator huh..... freaky.THNX

  • The gotdamn phone looks like a calculator. Has anybody noticed that besides me?

  • I bought this set yesterday poor volume, the leather set all the time kisses my lips during talk time which i feel my gf's instead, and many more.... right now leaving to mobile shop to exchange it with a some good Nokia N73 hahahah heheheh

  • hey guys I currently have a SE K750 and I'm thinking of changing my handset. You're probably thinkng Why does he want to down-grade? Well, I've fancied the look of this phone for a long time and I just love that leather wallet that it shows in the pictures. I was just thinking, What do you guys think of this phone? I mean is it reliable? how's the MP3 player? Would you recommend this phone? Please reply...thanks

  • hey, samsung..aren't you ashamed to release such a phone!!? i mean, it looks like a calculater , not a phone, as a lot pf people already said.i know u guys can make great phones , so don't embarass yourselves making useless and funny shaped phones...anyone agree with me??????

  • Hey , I'm on my way to change my Sony Ericsson M600i (white) for a Samsung P300. My only guestion is: Can you Edit documents on the Samsung P300? And please say Yes, It's a wonderful phone. I

  • errrr !!!! stop jokin ...it a calculator...or is it ?

  • i love this phone its so cute and small every one says it looks lik a calculator even so the phone is fantastic if i was to recommend a phone to any one i would recommend this.

  • "It's a lifestyle"! Ha ha ha! Erm, no. That's what the marketing people want you to think. It's actually...just a phone. That looks like a calculator. With poor volume.

  • hey rebalza can u email me on how i can modify the vibration and volume of my p300's ringtone? tnx my email add is [email protected]

  • Don't you guys get it ? Yes it looks like a calculator, but does all phones needs to look the same boring way ?? Its such a cool phone, and even more than that - its a lifestyle. Take Nokia 8800 - its the same, a gadget, which people can't live without ;) Buy the phone if you like its cool look, its a real business phone.

  • ok, I will tell you my opinion. there are many people who really love this phone because of the looks (I am amongst them), but there are lot of them who don't and I understand that because this is something completely diffrent. when it comes to features of the phone, I can tell you that I don't like it being so low on ring tone, and vibration is not so good, and this is THE MAIN thing about a phone, that's the bigest complain to Samsung !!! But you can make it a little bit better, so I fix vibration and melody to go together, and make mmf file, and while makeing the file I put volume to the top and I make it vibrate all the time, so now I hardly miss any calls. On the other hand, you can't choose your own melody for sms (that's also one important thing), so there is no way to fix it (no way that I know). But because of that I like option that your sms melody will ring every 2 mins if you didn't read the message. Here in Serbia T9 text is in no use, so for us it isn't problem, we don't have to choose it all over again, we had similar problem on previous phone from samsung when we have to choose all the time abc text. When you write sms and someone calls you, sms will not desapear !!! You don't have to go trough hundred of option to create a message, you can make shortcut and by pressing one button go write away on writting, so it is not a problem at all. For me pc suite is not good program, but also you can manage files, put it on the phone and of the phone so it isn't problem. There is problem to put java on the phone, but it is problem of all Samsung phones. The camera is not rubbish at all. It is not 2 or 3 MP, but for camera of 1.3 MP it is great camera and has great display to see pics !! Also clips made by this phone is best possible. Great thing about this phone is metal shell !!! I really love that kind of phones. Also it is thin, but not so light which is great for me.

  • Howdy, I have had this phone for a few months now and came onto this website to see if anyone else was having the same problems as me. To summarise: 1. The volume of the ring tone is so low that I quite often miss calls, even when it is on the highest setting. 2. This wouldn't be so bad if the vibrate function was effective...but it's not. The vibrate is so slight that I can't feel it when it is in my bag and sometimes not even when it's in my pocket. This means that I spend most of my time ringing people back. Cheap for my friends, expensive for me! Never in my life have I used so many of my free minutes! 3. The text messaging is completely counter-intuitive and does not allow you to default to T9. In addition, if anyone rings when you are texting then the message disappears into thin air. Nice. 4. You have to go through about one hundred options just to send a text message. It's a difficult process when it could be so easy. 4. The PC Suite software is super user-unfriendly and very counter-intuitive. Call me a quitter, but I gave up after a while. 5. The camera is rubbish, but I don't think the camera is the reason why you would buy this phone so maybe that's not a problem. In conclusion, I wouldn't buy this phone again. I have to admit, however: it does look rather nice and makes for good pub talk. I would be interested in hearing other people's opinions!

  • je je, i dont know, but i like

  • is dis a bomb detonator or a calcalator?

  • My first Samsung buy. Its great but I'd just lost the battery cover at the back of the phone and i'm told that Samsung does not make replacement covers for any of its phones!!!! Arghhh... Its this true? I feel like i've been conned by Samsung. Stuck with pretty brand new phone sans cover....it sucks man...

  • The best feature about this phone is the BOBBY CARROTT game. It is the best game ever to be on a phone ever!!! I have hours of fun with Bobby and now he is my new found hero.

  • is this a calculator or what???

  • we actually might get the CDMA version of this phone. its called the sch-v870 and note that it has got all that this cutie is missing - external memory slot file viewer mobile printing and yes, it retains its footprint !! man its a wonderpiece and coz its so out-of-the-box, most ppl are unable to digest it as a gadget-to-own !!!!! i will wait it out for the 870 !! :)

  • Guys, I bought this phone 2 months back. It's fine, slim, smart but I discovered what I percieve as a very big problem; I can't update a contact directly. i.e, I can't dial a number then update a contact with this number through the menu. The menu allows you to only save the number as a new contact. So, You have to memorize the number, go to the contact in the phone book and type the number in any suitable field. Isn't this terrible?

  • I really am pleased with this phone. Very small, out of the leather case it fits in a suit pocket with no bulges. The only critisism is that the signal strength is not so good.

  • can i get it in pink?

  • Just PERFECT !!!. And for everybody read well the cover isn't just cover It's an aditional battery pack!!! YESSS!!

  • what type of person u r??? if u want to be different from others and bcome outstanding, buy this phone. and ppl can't say stupid bcoz its really has very good built and features. I am using it now. NO PROBLEM

  • the cover for this phone isn't too great and it's annoying when you're taking/using the phone because of the flap being there. but the only good thing really is how thin the phone is.

  • This phone is veryb good it's very stel but it want memory card.look for this

  • I LOVE this calculator, it is the best phone i have ever had EVER!! Even though i get no signal with it, i don't care coz i am in love with it. I would marry it if i could!! It is grrrrrrrreat!! Seriously go out an but this phone. Forget ur doubts!! It is the greatest phone alive, the best phone ever built ever.

  • wat do u peeps think of this phone

  • wot a stupid fone, it looks like a calculator...

  • can someone tell me how i can format and reset the entire data on the p300?my phone seems to have a problem..when i put it to charge the phone gets switched off and light keeps flashing on the screen,it does not even get charged.

  • I finally worked the ringtone out. For anyone else having problems menu/settings/sounds/incoming call at ringtone option press the i/ok key and then select 'default sounds' there are 30 ring tones there and 27 and 30 vibrate and call at same time. use same function key i/ok to change message tones. x

  • Hey all, I just got the samsung p300... can anyone tell me how to change the ring tone? i can only seem to find one on it where there should be 30? I can see the double arrow button which might be what changes it but cant seem to locate a key applicable to it. help! thanks x

  • I really like the look of this phone. I got a Samsung E900 the other day and I'm already regretting it. I may sell and get this phone isntead. I think there is no need for a memory expansion slot as 80mb of memory is plenty for what I use my phone for. Also, it's miles better than the Nokia phones which have no expasion slot AND hardly any memory at all.

  • but the camera is fantastic!!!

  • hey! the battery isn't really good. just one day if you use your phone a lot. when i'm lucky 24hours untill i have to recharge my battery.

  • hello.. i m interested to buy this phone. Can anyone tell me abt camera quality and battery ?

  • How is the battery? How many days in a normal use? And if you use both bateries? It duplicates the time? Thanks

  • The P300 is a nice phone for what i need. Its a nice small phone. Does anyone know how to make the ringtones louder as it would be appreciated regards paul

  • Awesome Phone.. I bought this phone also from Vision PCS in Houston on Harwin Great Great Phone looks like a little calculator, fits perfect in the pocket. Check it out www.2visionpcs.com

  • Just bought this phone a week ago. I LOVE IT! i bought it only because of the design. When yyou look at the specifications, this phone is wack. (Price/skills) but it's a collectors item which is all we need..

  • Calculator??? I thought it looked like a toaster.

  • this phone looks like a calculator..

  • wow so they now have calculators that can connect to the internet wish i had the in school so that i could do math and look at pron

  • Retro Chic. Par Down Basics. Simply said for this phone. Absolutely love the sleek compact design with all the nexessary functions normal person would require. No excess. No complaints. Was using the Nokia N80 previusly for 3 months, could wait to get rid of that phone. Horrible design and NOT user friendly. Delays, delays and lagging. And SOFTWARE problems. Just reinforces my dislike for NOKIA phones. Its either Samsung or SONY these days. period.

  • IM using P300 for one month now . the thing i didnt like in the phone that you cannot mute the incoming phone call .... Also most of the caller state that your voice is not clear .

  • im using my p300 for months now.... as of gary's comment, u have a good point there bro.! y are dis haters wasting their time posting some comments? maybe the problem was in their skulls? not on the phone.... second sumone ask if theres an indicator when u r using the leather battery pack... as of me.. im using them separately... if sum1 knows if its ok to use them simultaniously pls post a comment... but overall this phone rocks... im inluv with this thing! the looks the uniqueness, the simplicity, everything! (but the volume of tones) if samsung going to release a phone improving the tones and with a card slot, ill probably buy 1 again... f*#k the haters!

  • I have owned this phone now for about 2 months so thought i would post my comments. There are many comments on here that i would take with a pinch of salt because they don't really hold any truth. The looks. If i am honest the only reason i bought this phone was because of the looks and more importantly its size. Yes it looks like a calculator but why is that a bad thing - and if you don't like the looks why are you even considering the phone and wasting everyones time posting that as a negative. The phone is the exact same size as a credit card and the advantage being is you can take this phone out on a night and not have a pocket bulge like you would with other units. I could have had any handset I wanted. I have access to any handset I want working for a network operator yet I choose this phone because it does everything a 'normal' person could want in a small form factor. The negatives to me are primarily down to how the phone rings. -The phones ringtones are not as loud as my SE K750i. This is probably down to the same speaker being used for the tones as is used for voice. Also because the phone isn't able to ring and vibrate at the same time you can miss calls. If you use the case you'll probably miss calls. -The SMS tones cannot be changed. - The phone is easy to scratch. I take good care of my phones yet there are plenty of surface scrathces in the metal. I assume this is because the metal is laquered. Anyone know if the phone can be polished? One thing i would like to add is why are people commenting that the phone is slow at manually altering the network? I mean how often do people actually use the feature. If you are in the UK you should never need to use the feature unless you are roaming and for some reason don't like the network you have been defaulted to.

  • when i attach the leather case battery i get no message or tone saying that it is connected and i havent noticed any increased battery lfe with it. is there a problem with my case or connection? can anyone with this phone please let me know if there is any notification once the case is attached?? Thanks in advance.

  • Yes this phone could be used on US networks as it is able to pick up networks on a 1900Mhz frequency.

  • Please help me to information. I will bring this Samsung P300 to USA in Texas. May i know, can we use this phone to USA Signal Phone ? If can't use, what frequency can use in USA Mobiles Phone? ( What type of Samsung )

  • This Samsung is realy cool if u just need to make phone calls and text sms, i changed my nokia 6630 for it and im very happy, the only problem is that the sound is not very loud, but i think there is a software that fixes it, does anyone knows thw name of it' thanks

  • Almost all features of the P300 sucks. I sold mine after 3 days of owning.........I was a sucker but not anymore! This phone should worth only less than 100 euros at maximum.

  • This is the best designer phone I've seen in a long time. It truely rocks!! The only disatvantage I can find is that there is no card slot. Nevertheless... enjoy this masterpiece.

  • Great looks, but no memory expansion!not good enough!needs memory card slot to be viable in todays market.

  • the only problem i encountered is that the software is not responding well, and i cant back up my files.... but i aready have a bluetooth usb now! so everythings doing good! this fone rocks!

  • Already on Verizon who doesn't carry this one. Don't care. I am absotively getting this one. Taking it to T-Mobile unlocked as soon as I receive it. Looks just like a retro calculator and size is terrific. Retro chic is IN! I believe the design is a stroke of genius.

  • I got my P300 a week ago. My only problem with it is that I cannot save phone numbers into the phone's memory, but just in the SIM. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. Actually, this is my 2nd unit. The first had the same problem and I returned it. I have tried even writing to the phone memory using the PC software and the Outlook sync, but none work. Thanks!

  • Oh and another thing the PC software that comes with Samsung phones is so near impossible to use, i'm amazed this was ever released!

  • I have the P300 which must say i was impressed with initially, the phone feels nice, easy to use. But there are some flaws to the design which I just cant live with. Firstly i like the idea of the battery in the case, but it makes the phone as wide as other phones on the market which seems to defect the objective. The worst thing is when the case is closed it covers up the speaker so you can hardly hear the phone ring. I've had it next to me in the car, in my pocket and have many missed calls. the vibration mode is feeble, and you cant have vibration and ring tone start at the same time??? This phone has let me down, so I am getting rid!

  • Absolute rubbisg, looks good but is a poor mans mp3 and looks like a calculator

  • Hi, I have just purchased an E900 and waiting for it to arrive - but i have now found the P300 - not seen either of these phones yet, but may be regretting my decision to buy the E900 instead of this. Im from a Nokia background so unsure of the Samsung operating system. Can anyone offer any advice - should i sell my E900 before i open the box and go for the P300? I want a small, different and cool phone, im a high user and my phone goes everywhere with me - plus i love gadgets! THANK YOU for your help and advice. David.

  • I bought yesterday and ı am very glad about size and retro style. but ı don't know where ı download software anybody know?pls send to me a mail

  • hi it is nice set but should be lillte big.very small for that design. thanx

  • is this a calc from school?? its a disaster but it does it for me

  • Bill - Can you please tell us where this software downlaod is as I would love to have it. Thanks.

  • This phone is fine with me. The ringtones can be customized to have both ringing & vibration and adjust volume to as high as possible. This can be done via a software and download it to the phone. The only downside is the message tone which is soft and cannot be customized. So I've been missing sms.

  • absolutely love the phone. it's not sold here in the US and I had to import it from Hong Kong. It is by far the best small phone I've owned that also looks really smart with the leather case on

  • I guess it depends what you want this phone for. I just want a phone that works and is tiny. Well so far it works just fine as a phone (sound quality no problem for me), it's tiny & I got it free on an upgrade. Additionally it records videoclips, takes decent photos and stores enough MP3 files to use as ringtones. What do you want, the moon on a stick?

  • it looks like a calculator.....better use in school for your math subject....

  • The worst phone I had ever owned........ By the way, a feedback to Jay(below) :- there is no 'vib & ring', only 'vib then ring'!!! A piece of crap.......period.

  • Bought it!!! and love it!! it does have vib ring feature, also check out the mini light for extra safty feature..no more reading the menu in the dark! A+ phone

  • my mom has this phone, i rang her, she couldnt hear it, the sounds crap, it was in her pocket.

  • such an expensive mobile.but not worth of using it. Samsung how did you come up with such a scrap phone. Didnt expect this from such a renowned company to produce such an ugly phone:(

  • and grandma would say: children nowadays are crazy, talking using a calculator? the samsung website states this phone has stainless steel and magnesium casing.. sounds good

  • By far the worst phone I have ever owned. Sure, it looks great, but if you want to receive calls on it, don't bother. I've had people standing next to me while I've got full bars & still the phone refuses to ring out. Hopeless.

  • I own a Samsung P300 and I am really happy with it. I could have any phone on the market and I chose that one. This is NOT a top of the line phone but has the exact same features as a D500 which I also have. I dont know about anyone else, but I dont use half the functions that are on it nor am I likely to. The only thing I would say is that if you use the cover it comes with, you cant hear it ring. Also its a bit heavier than than what I am used to. Otherwise its great. Well done Samsung for coming up with something original!!

  • The P300 is better use as a calculator than a phone :- - This phone is not comfortable to hold when talking. - The quality of the hands free speaker phone is not so good. - There is no vib + ring at the same time. - The software is outdated because it took the phone forever to initialize(don't forget this is a simple phone without features). - Everything is SLOW with this phone.....e.g. took a long time to find new service providers in MANUAL mode, took forever to jump to another provider when you cross the border from one place to another. It took hours to fully charge the battery.

  • To :- 2006-06-20 11:48 myH%, Take a look at "VK Mobile" if you want a simple, small, light weight & thin mobile phone. Out of more than 15 phones that I have/own at the present moment; Nokia 8800 is the best. Too bad it's a little on the heavy side for you, but the phone is a perfect size for use. Forget about the P300, it's really the worst phone you can have. . . . .I just don't want you people to regret! ! ! PS. Even if someone send me one as a gift; I won't use it. (Don't forget I sold my P300 after using for less than a week! ! !)

  • The only thing I want from a phone is for it to be small (cus I hate carrying things around with me) and for it to call and text. So still E900 or P300

  • It is more like a calculator than like a mobile?!!!!!!!!!!

  • "WORST" performance.....what more can I say!

  • The look is ok. The function sucks!!!!!!!

  • I love .

  • I hope this phone will upgrade to 8GB memory and 1800mah battery and then i will buy it. People there, are u nuts and just shut up your big mouth.

  • this calculator is n da wrong site!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To 2006-06-14 11:28 m4mK , Sound to me you are a Samsung sales! I am sorry, but what you said is not true at all...........

  • I needed a new phone but couldn't find one I really fancied. My husband saw this one and completely fell in love with its 'odd' design. So I bought it (with the idea of handing it to my husband when I find something better). But I actually got quite attached to it. All I want is a simple phone so I think that the features on it aren't too bad (at least more than on my previous Samsung). With me having a boycot on Nokia, Motorola, flip phones and sliding phones there just isn't much left that doesn't have the size of a truck. I have to admit though that the ringer volume could have been a bit louder. The zero-button is in a odd place and I haven't found the special characters for texting yet.

  • Of course the design is a failure. That's why it's flying off the shelves and has beaten even samsung's expectations of how successful it would be.

  • The design of this phone is just an execise for Samsung......it' a failure!

  • is it just me or is samsung taking a liking towards calculators??? Bridence xx

  • To Hannah , Obviousely you are chuffed with your phone because it is something new......BUT it's not going to be for long when you get pissed off by this phone......once you found out that it is so rubbish! Good luck.

  • I love my new calculator!!! This phone is soooo cool and i am officially CHUFFED with my new phone.

• Well i have read all your comments about this phone and would just like to say that "off all the models i have owned the samsungs have been the only phones not to have any bugs in them" ive had nokias all of which have had some problem with them (minor and major, but still anoying. their good phones but lots of features but somthing on them usualy gives up working after a time. never had that with samsung phones. i'm not going to run through all my phones with good and bad points but would like to say at the end of the day all you use them for is calling your mates and texting, you dont need all these gadgets and gizmos because you never use them in the end. internets better on a PC, music on your ipod, photos on a proper digital camera and so on. i bet most of you dont even use these. i dont, and so i picked the p300 to make calls and texts, it looks ok, fits in your pocket without a bulge, made of metal and not crappy plastic, nice screen (better than my 8860 previous phone),in the end its personal taste what you like might not be my favourite and vise versa, which is good because we would all carry around the same phone (and that would be boring. Anyway the only bad point with this phone is that its not gold plated!!! which i think phone manufacturers should produce for those of whom who would like a little style other than plastic, silver and girly colours lol.

  • We wonder who hate the p300, but definately not many people like it, especially people who own it......cos this p300 is really very rubbish. Regarding the look/design and features or performance; this phone is not even in the same league as the Nokia 8800! Samsung P300/308 is the "worst phone" I ever had!!! It does not even worth half what I paid for......but Nokia 8800 is worth every penny I paid for!

  • I dont understand why some ppl hate p300 and comparing it with N8800.Both model has almost similar features and p300 will be my prefered one coz of the size and the look !! Really cool !!!

  • What is this, a calculator?

  • This is not a good phone at all!!! The look is not bad, but can't compare to the Nokia 8800. Features & performance are the really terrible. This is one of the worst phone I had ever owned(other than the look)! The price is also dropping faaasssstttttt.......

  • not as small as I am waiting but it is actually cool.. size can define as: put your 4 credit cards top-to-top. this is what p300 is.

  • To :- 2006-06-08 10:10 RxnC , Talking about features of the P300, there is absolutely No FEATURE to speak of. This phone is quite thin but cannot consider small. You haven't seen much......there are smaller phones (half the size of the P300 & just as thin) with hand writing recognition & 10 times more features!!!

  • Obviously, this phone isn't for everyone. This was primarily a design exercise to see how many features they can cram into a tiny package. Because of that you sacrifice a lot in terms of useability. Features:size ratio of this can't be beat. I've had this for months and since I value size more than anything-I'd say this was STILL the best phone I've ever had. The 2nd best is my D600 which is also awesome!

  • There are smaller phones made in China for the Chinese market which is almost as thin but narrower than the P300. The speaker volume & also the ring volume is at least 5 times as loud as the P300!!! Playing MP3 with the P300 is way too quiet.......those Chinese made tiny small phones are as loud as say; the Sony Ericsson W800.

  • P300 Is for those fools, who admire slimness in the phone! -The slimer the better! (Fu...c the sound clarity!) -The uglier the better! -The more expensive the better! This is the main philosophy of SAMSUNG and Sony Ericsson! And now, Nokia starts sharing the same philosophy!

  • The worst phone (features & performance) I had ever owned / encountered :- - Shape of the phone not comfortable to hold at all. - Took hours to fully charge the battery (much longer charging time even compare to other Samsung phones!) - There is almost NOT any 'normal usable' feature to speak of! - The damn phone is so damn slow at switching to another service provider OR even slower at searching for available service provider in MANUAL mode!!! This is really a piece of rip off sh** by Samsung........What a shame!!!!!!

  • AND IF THE Mobileburn.com had a half of brain it would ask SAMSUNG A QUESTION: -How can the phone that is 8mm thick produce any normal or loud ringer or normal earpiece sound quality? SHAME ON-SAMSUNG!!

  • SAMSUNG: Get out of cellular phone market! Concentrate better on creating advanced multimedia calculators, vibrators, and don't forget to make a digital camera out of pen!!!!

  • Every time I search for a service provider when using this P300 phone, I have to curse Samsung because it took forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WHY????????????

  • I have had this phone for a week and it not only looks great but it has a clear and easy menu and works very well.

  • CONCLUSION: This phone does not work as a phone at all! (just like most of the Samsung phones) So why the hell Samsung calls it a cellular phone? THEY SHOULD RENAME THIS DEVICE: New Name: An advanced, multimedia calculator. As an advanced multimedia calculator this toy would get 5.0 score for sure!

  • A TRUTHFUL REVIEW HERE: P.S. Don't believe B.S. reviewers who never held this toy in their hands. FROM OFFICIAL REVIEW ON HTTP://WWW.MOBILEBURN.COM PHONE FUNCTIONALITY: Sadly, it is in the most basic of phone functions that the Samsung SGH-P300 shows its only real fault of note. Call audio quality on the P300 is relatively poor. Both inbound and outbound audio quality lack clarity and suffer from differing types of distortion. My first call made on the device, with my mother, immediately resulted in her asking what device I was using. She knew right away that I was using a new phone for the call. The audio quality when using the speakerphone or a Bluetooth

  • alrite campers ive had me p300 casio lol a couple of days now and i love its great coz ill never get mugged coz it looks a casio calculator. who needs 3g thats crap fm radio its got an mp3 player you can get a couple of songs on which is enough you dont by a mobile to be an mp3 or camera or radio you buy it to txt and call people. everythink else is a bonus and it does everythink well. the only problem is that o2 havent got pay as you go settings for it yet so i cant send mms pics yet.

  • this phone is expensive compare to its feature. i agreed that the design is simple and beautiful, but the specf. wise is hopeless. this model is for the people who like to show off only.

  • no memory slot , no fm radio . no 3g , no nothing

  • Every Samsung mobile phone owner that I konw (incluning myself) are encountering the problem of taking extremely long time searching for a service provider (especially when switching from one service provider to another automatically). Can anyone advise why this happen?

  • Hi, Does anybody know if this phone actually has a calculator feature incorporated into it?

  • i love my new p300, i love the retro styling, 80's calculator style. its great for me to have another small samsung, i've had a mda compact as my main phone for a 9 months now and although its a fantastic all round piece of equipment, video, pictures, spredsheets, satnav etc i needed something smaller in my pocket and the p300 fills that role, as a great all round handset with superb features in a fantastically small package. its a refreshhing change for the styling to look completely different from everything else on the market, samsung are bringing out a 6.5mm thick 2 megapixel candy bar style hanset for xmas 2006, should be good.meanwhile everyone has a different requirement from there phones and the p300 for me is as near as perfect as possible.

  • How do i get my mms and my internet to work in the usa on t-mobile. is it even possible?

  • Is it true, that the leather case reduces the sensitivity of the mic.? Is the sound quality fine when the phone is in there case?

  • I suggest this phone should have memory card n it will be very nice. Thank you.

  • I really don't understand why every time that Samsung (especially in Hong Kong) introduce a new phone to the market, they always have a higher than expceted list price for whatever model they can offer!!! I suppose the Hong Kong Samsung agent is ripping off consumer!!!

  • thanks Chris you are a star malitgone

  • Jeez... people what's wrong with this phone! I mean it's small and does everything you need it to so whats the problem? Next you'll be complaining that phone's are rubbish because it can't scratch your back!! Get a grip people. I remember when people complained phones are to big now it's there to small. Quite naive really. The phone is small, smart looking, I don't notice it's in my pocket and I can make and recieve calls on it. Oh that's right because it's just a phone. Think people need to get out more if they find it necessarey to slate this phone.

  • To change the ring tones select menu settings then sound settings then incoming call then select the ring tone and then press the button uwith the i/ok icon on it which is under the top left button then you get the options to change and select 1 of 30 pretty poor ringtones!

  • I have read on a few sits that the p300 has 30 ring tones The one it is set up on is doing my head in When I go off the manual to change the ring tones it will not have any ring tones there but the one that is doing my head in Can any one Pleas tell me how to change the ring tone on the p300? thanks

  • To, 2006-05-21 18:52 iLQx : FYI, My mini PDA is made in China(it's a joint venture between a Korean company & a Chinese company, it's major market is obviously mainland China). The company which produce this mini-PDA is called 'KIFUNG' & the model is 'S108'.

  • PLEASE HELP! :] Hi, does anyone know how to set up the MMS for this phone on a T-Mobile US network? I tried sending pix but it says failed. I tried setting it up on the samsung website, it also didnt work. Also it would be nice if i can set up my E-mail and WAP. PLEASE HELP IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW!! THANK YOU!

  • Just own comment-What PDA do you have from Kor?

  • shaun :- Nice phone it is.......or else I would not have brought it & still keeping it! I agree the call quality is not bad at all. Major problem with this phone is the quality of the speaker phone, which when I turn up the volume; the sound is loud enough but the sound quality became bad! The other major problem is with the network search; which is extremely slow. No 'vibrate & ring' is another major design fault with all Samsung phones. Talking about function, this phone really do not have much.......even for its size! I have a korean made pocket PDA which is smaller in all dimension except a little thicker at 13mm, have 10 times more function than my P300 BUT cost less the have the price of this phone!!! Some people (including male & female) prefer the look of my korean mini-PDA, & some prefer the P300. (The korean PDA feels nicer when holding in my hand because it is narrower & has got rounder edges).

  • i've had mine about 2 weeks now, i can honestly say it's a great phone. The ring tones are not the loudest in the world but its loud enough to let you know someones calling. I really couldn't believe that samsung managed to fit all the features that they have into such a small and slick case. I also dont get why some people have such a problem with its looks, in the flesh it looks like a well built expensive bit of kit that stands out from the crowd and eveyone whos seen mine has loved it. Some people have stated that the call quality is poor, vthis is not something that i have found or had anyone i was calling comment upon. I would recommend this phone to anyone.

  • hey guys! for those guys that had p300! is there any chance that the p300 will experience lagging when the 80mb mem is almost full? im planning to buy 1! but the most important aspect of a fone for me is that part. as we all know, fone is very important and the hanging and lagging can cause everything! tnx!

  • im currently choosing between p300 and SE-w900, im a lil bit confuse... i like d w900's specs., specially d 470mb internel mem. but what turns me off is the lagging, and its size, im a fashion type of guy and i like the p300 bec. of its unique design and it come along with 2 batteries... and 80mb internal mem. is not quite bad, though its not expandable, but what i like about it is that its not lagging, im still weighing it out between this 2.

  • I really like this phone very much but why there is so complaints about this. I just don't understand and shut up your big mouth if u are saying bad things. I hope it can upgrade to 8GB memory and 1800mah battery as soon as possible. Please tell me the details as soon as possible.

  • I've found another con when dialling phone number under sunlight.......the reflection of sunlight from the stainless steel metal blind the eyes.

  • -This phone is well made. Look is very personal. -Features quite lousy.......not even a dictionary nor radio. -There is no vibrate & ring feature. -Searching for available network (especially in manual mode) is extremely slow. -Lots of static from the speaker phone when turn up the ring volume to 4/5. -The camera quality is only acceptable. -Prints are a bit too small to read comfortably; except those for dialling a phone #. -Ring volume too quiet & the ring quality from the speaker is un-impressive. -Not comfortable to handle (too wide). The battery standby time lasted longer than I had expected. My advise :- If anyone like this phone because it's made from stainless steel; buy the Nokia 8800 if you can afford the extra cost (I own both of them).

  • Hi Fred, there doesn't seem to be any option for the sms to save to the phone automatically. Well I've had this phone for just over a week now and I'm still loving it. The only thing I don't like is the usual Samsung lack of 'vibe and ring' option. So if anyone nows where I can download a 'ring ring' type tone with built in vibrate let me know!

  • Dear Nigel, Thanks for your advice. However, is there anyway to set the sms automaticallt stored to the phone when it arrives. It seems like all the sms are automatically stored in all other phones except this one. Thanks again.

  • what the hells wrong with samsung??!!! another calculator in the making!! is samsung penetrating the calculator market?? hello poh??!?? telepon... jackamawatan!!!

  • had the phone for 1 week and impressed thus far. agree that the phone must be seen in person to get a good idea of quality, design and size. Overall the phone has good features and best of all is the unique design and size. my previous phone was the V3 and i like them both. everyone has the V3 so i bought this when i lost my V3

  • Bought the Samsung P300 last week. It is a fantastic looking phone and very comfortable to hold/ definitely an eye catcher. I have, however, returned the phone and am in the process of purchasing the new Sony K800i. For me the limitations of the phone outweigh the cool design. My main criticims are: 1) Very bad audio quality (documented design flaw) - ask the person you have called to report back on how clear the call is. 2) Very quiet ring tone and no vibrating call. 3) Rather poor camera (compared to the 2/3mp phones available now). Despite these problems it is a nice phone but I figured I would be bored of it after a couple of months and would be tied to an 18m contract.

  • Can anyone help? 1. Try out the function of the & notice that I cannot assign any other function to the 2 soft keys the soft keys! Am I correct? 2. Also by accident notice that there is a function somewhere where you are allowed to change the keypad format(only 2 choices)......I am unable to find this function again even after spending over 2 hours!!!.......Anyone know where this function is located? pls. advise. Thankyou.

  • Hi Fred, texts are stored automatically to the sim, to move to the phone open the message, hit 'options' then option 4 is 'move to phone'. And no you can't change the SMS tones, your stuck with whats on the phone.

  • Just got the phone. Have 2 questions that I can't figure out, see if anyone out there can help me out. 1. All the sms I received were stored in the simcard, how can I change to store in phone. 2. Can I use my own mp3 music as the SMS ringtone? Thank you very much in advance.

  • My phone arrived today and so far I am impressed, the "0" key takes some getting used to and I must say that the sound is not that loud ringing and I have found that I have missed a few calls, could this be a ploy to get me to ring people back, very impressed with the overall quality of the phone, My last phone was a black berry, and a V3i this is much better. I would highly recomend that you see it a shop first as the web images do not do it justice.

  • I weighed it on the postage scales in my office so give or take a couple of grams it should be correct.

  • Nice looking phone. Look delicate but is very strongly build(good quality). I brought one about 10 days ago but never have the chance to use it yet as I have been away on a business trip to Beijing, China.(I brought with me my Nokia 8800 & a very nice looking China made mini PDA phone with me). I am quite excited to try out/play with the P300 when I am free at home tonight. I shall keep you guys posted on my opinion of the P300.

  • Nigel, Thank You for the information. May I ask you though, did you weigh it? Sorry to be a pain about this, but a dealer insures me it weighs 65g, and it makes a difference I think. Thanks Anders

  • neQk's right. The point of this phone is the design. The fact that samsung was able to put the features that this has is amazing enough. I mean check it out: its a phone, 1.2mp digicam, video recorder, calculator, organizer and mp3 player that fits in your calling card case!!! Its the size of a stack of credit cards! C'mon, that's amazing no matter how you look at it.

  • It weighs 79g or 140g with the case. I got this phone last week in the UK, and it is the most amazing phone I have ever owned, my last phone was the V3i and this is far better. I'd say to anyone that hasn't actually had this phone in there hands and used it to keep there opinions to themselves until they have. Most reviews on here have missed the point of this phone, your not buying this for gadgets your buying it for the unique design. But even saying that since the specs are pretty much the same as the D500 thats a big bonus. The screen is the best I have seen on a mobile, it's very clear and bright even in direct sunlight. The battery life has been amazing and that's without the second battery built into the case. Signal strength and call quality are pretty much the same as the V3i. I haven't found anyone that has tried my phone saying they don't like the design, my girlfriend was one of the 'ha! Calculator' people, she has ordered one this morning after trying mine. Go to a shop and actually try one out!

  • PLEASE could someone, who owns one, tell me the WEIGHT.

  • damm u samsung.. for 80mb??? what the hell am i suppose to do with it? at least u guys fit it with external memory, if not, at least a fm radio. i saw this phone and i agreed with goodday.

  • haha! it looks like a calculator!

  • Would anyone even consider this calculator?

  • i was scared about the call quality,i have the phone for two days and the call quality is goooooood.....

  • goodday............you dont have the phone so how can can you say the cam is no good.....the cam is preety good and the video is amazing ,the best i have seen, the phone looks 100 times better in real life,it very thin, the tft is amazing, and the call quality is ok too.......most peopel dont even print out pics from cell phones, the p300 looks great on a computer screen............

  • Thought I would add a new update about this phone from my last one. Most people think it is funky so I like that they like it. The call quality is amazing which I am please about. I found the sound to be very low but to all you that are still having the same problem, download ringtones or music with a high bitrate rate. The higher the better.I get mine from Limewire and to be honest it is loud enough with some ring tones. I have not really experienced breakup when I am on the phone and believe me I use it alot. The 0 key is still taking some getting used to but I still have to say this phone looks far better than the plastic looking phones right now.

  • simple basic phone. nice to see and nice to hold. No infra red, no external memory, internal memory only 80mb or equiv. to 19 songs poor camera quality keypad's print not durable doesnt seem to have fm radio. is there any hidden gold that make the price $500? correct me if im wrong. thanks.

  • Does anyone have the same problem as me? The samsung software does not let you install java applications and samsung say you have to download them via wap. When I download via wap it goes upto 97% and then says download failed and its not the file thats corrupt as it works in other phones. Anyone help????:)???

  • Does it weigh 85g or 65g, as stated om many other sites (without the leathercase)??

  • You buy it if you like it. This phone is well Built using Metal case similar to V3i Motorola. It looks cool, something different. There are smaller phones on the market from VK Mobile Korea, but what can compete with Samsung in Korea. Beofre buying this phone, look around, you might find a better device.

  • dose the samsung p300 have 352*288 video resolution like the d600

  • what is the video resolution

  • SAM........... does it always have bad sound during all calls

  • is the call quality any good

  • I LOVE IT!! It is such a cool phone. Everyone thinks it is a calculator, so I can get away with using it at work. I would highly recommend this phone. Only one negative, the ring tone is very quiet even on the highest volume level

  • I've had tis phone for about a week now, It's a great phone. It still amases me how small it is. Fantastic phone The Bigest Problem I have found is the signal strenth is not that great. I get a lot of break up. Doesnt actualy drop calls But has that anoying breakup. The T9 is always off so when you come to text you have to switch it on. Apart from that It's a brill Phone.

  • Nice, small & handy phone if you can afford the high price.

  • It`s a great phone. Very impressive

  • Love the phone but the software with it is rubbish, It wont let me install java apps onto it :( Does anyone know how to do this incase im being stupid. Another thing but not to do with Samsung P300 why the hell does Motorollas bluetooth not find blooming samsungs!!!!

  • dear rio not only,it dosn't matter that what says peolpe about your phone, but only it is very stylish & good handset.goodluck

  • After three weeks with the phone, this is my pro/con list: pros: 1. Good bright display 2. Love the size and the look. I really don't feel it in my coat pocket. 3. Battery life is great, five days is typical without the sleeve, longer with it. cons: 1. Shortcuts are limited. You can only select the upper menus. So I can have a shortcut to the setup menu, but not the call forwarding part. Same thing with java apps, I'd like to replace the shortcut to the WAP browser with a shortcut to Opera Mini, but I can't, cause that key is not reprogrammable. 2. Display shuts down completely, so I have to hit a key to read the time or see if I have messages. 3. Can't associate a picture with numbers on the SIM. You have to copy the number to the phone first. 4. The WAP browser has a totally different T9 behavior than the rest of the phone. It doesn't use the same button to switch mode, and you have to switch mode to type a number, you can't just hit the number four times to get it. Minor things: - The headset that ships with the phone is stereo (for music), so you always have this extra hearbud dangling when talking on the phone. - The USB cable that ships with the phone doesn't allow charging. - When putting the phone in the battery/sleeve thing, it doesn't show that its charging or has additional battery time. - You can't charge the phone and use the headset at the same time, it uses the same socket.

  • I went to the samsung shop today to test on the P300. Finding: 1. Look : 9/10 2. Function : 8/10 3. Price : 7/10 Plus Point : The phone is stylish and slim. Minus Point : The Ringing Volumes for MP3 and Ring Tones volume was lousy. Conclusion : I will not get the P300 cause this phone makes no sense. The volume was totally unacceptable, you can't even hear it when the volume was switch to the highest mode. What is the use of getting this stylish phone where you can't even hear when someone calls you. And you even have this MP3 Buttons on the main buttons. Pls wake up samsung!!!! If anyone have P300, Kindly advice if you have also face this volume problem. Tks! Samsung!!!! What is P300?? is this a calculator or a phone? Kindly advice!

  • I have had P300 for a while now. Yes most people are correct by saying that it looks like a calc or credit card so there is no getting away from that, however does it matter? This phone still looks stylish with brushed steel. The case also makes it very business looking and will keep the mobile safe. After reading through other people's review and owning the phone myself here is the biggest negitives & positives about the mobile - 1. When you begin a text message it always dirverts back to the old way of texting and you have to hold in the * key to get it onto T9. (This is for each text you will ever create). 2. Where the 8 key is located were the 0 key should be, so it may take you a little while to get used with this. 3.The text tones are set and you can not change them beyond the selection you have. 4. The ringtones are not very loud even on loudest setting. 5. Software for your pc/laptop needs to become user friendier. Positives 1. The mobile is a slick design & one for fashion. (once you get used with it). 2. It is easy enough to use once you get the hang of it.(for texting)! 3. It has Amazing batt life. This small phone has some serious talk/standby time. 4. The display on the mobile is great. 5. The camera takes quality photos. 6. The video recorder is quality. As I read before, this is the marmite of mobiles, you will love it or dislike it.

  • This phone likes calculator but i think this phone not as good as Samsung Serene. The design for Samsung Serene already ugly, now Samsung P300 also ugly, but i will buy this kinds of phone bcuz it very " ying ".

  • I LOVE IT!! It is such a cool phone. Everyone thinks it is a calculator, so I can get away with using it at work. I would highly recommend this phone. Only one negative, the ring tone is very quiet even on the highest volume level.

  • what the hell is this the worse phone iv ever seen

  • Phone screen goes completely black in standby mode. No time/date display. Sound quality is OK mostly. Occasionally it's patchy. Not as good as some phones.

  • Does the screen go black in standby mode or is the date/time visible? Also, when making calls, how good is the sound quality?

  • Hey KID, have you actually got one? Or doesn't your pocket money run to it? Better leave it to those that can actually make informed opinions. Folks that actually own one think that it's a great little phone.

  • Excellent phone! Full featured but tiny package. Ultra slim like NEC but with better useability. Can play mp3 and mp4 files (short clips only). Excellent signal and voice clarity. Battery life is very very good especially with external battery-case. Very utilitarian design won't suit some but I like it. Overall excellent!

  • Wow..... This calculator's design is quite good. I definately wanna buy this to replace my old calculator.

  • Right, b4 I go any further I say ... "defininetly get this phone". It's very cool and very good on the whole. BUT (there's always a but), if you want to sync with your PC (or Outlook) prepare for several hours of fiddling, trying and testing (not to mention swearing). The software that comes with it (Samsung's PC Studio II 2.0) is really, really crap and buggy. Support is virtually non-existent. When you use this software it's like going back 5 years. Be warned! On the other hand, with a bit of fiddling you can stream MP3 tunes wirelessly from the P300 to a bluetooth stereo headset. How cool is that? I HAVE got it to sync with Outlook over BT, but you have to initiate a sync from the phone (not Outlook!!) and it's not very stable. I still haven't mananged to get any photos from the P300 to the PC yet:-( Anyhoo, did I mention you should definitely get this phone?

  • Hi i just got this phone on o2 contract yesterday and all i can say is what a phone hell irl say it again what a phone i thought i was dreaming when i saw it but no its real its in my hand and it rocks. So small so tiny so sexy its so hard to put down and wait untill you show it to another have you seen lord of the rings when they see the ring this is the reaction i get of other people my precious.

  • at the moment, no black version announced. maybe in some month, hoping...

  • had mine for 3 weeks best phone ever! tired of all these bulky phones about time someone made a sensible business phone! unfortunately to all you new users the ring tone doos start off quiet i have tried to correct. you can use any uk sim card in this, i have had voda 02 and my mate has his orange in it! best phone for pocket in jeans when clubbing and everyone i know really really likes it. its made of metal so it wont be looking cheap and plastic in 2 months!

  • LOL!!! is this calculator include scientific calculation function???

  • To those who have this phone--when you have the phone in your pocket, do you find that the buttons are pressed accidently? Is there a keypad lock to prevent this? Many Thanks!

  • I'm pretty keen on this phone, however my network doesn't currently support it, only o2 do. And as much as I like this phone, it's not worth changing networks.

  • My friend just bought this phone to replace his Motorola RAZR V3i...What do you guys think...Good choice?

  • yes it is normal but to change the tones in the settings menu you have to click the i/ok button to get the list of the other tones.(i had the same problem when i first got mine)

  • The phone comes with a loudspeaker and a handsfree kit with two headphones so you can use that

  • I got this phone for mi birthday and im afraid it is an absolutely fantastic and obvioulsy very small. However it ddoes not have a card slot. but it does have quite a large 90meg of memory. But dont let the memory put you off it is the best phone I've ever owned.

  • it is really rather innovative in terms of design but it looks like a calculator for making your math homework. the specifications aren't impresive

  • does this phone include a card slot..review from mobile-review stated that it does have a card slot..im so interested in buying this phone..anyone with the answer

  • It is very nice phone I like it thanks

  • very james bondish

  • Actually a REALLY nice piece of kit. Very small but still usable for blokes, screen's very clear & great attention to detail. I'm a fan without a doubt :)

  • OMG...what is wrong with u ppl. OK OK we all get the point...IT LOOKS LIKE A CALCULATOR!!! So what? That's the whole point of this phone anyway...TO LOOK LIKE A CALCULATOR!!! Get with the program pls for heavens sake. If u have nothing constructive to say...dont say it. We would appreciate it very much. It is what it is! A tiny feature packed phone DESIGNED to look like...A CALCULATOR! If it doesnt suit yr taste, samsung does make other PHONE looking PHONES.

  • How do u listen to mp3's do u have to buy a bluetooth headset? i no how to listen to em using the speaker phone.

  • Just got this phone, few questions: 1) It vibrates for three times, only then you hear a ring tone, can this be changed to a regular mode? 2) When it rings the volume is very low then jumps up high to normal, like a glitch. that's with a setting on Volume 5. Can someone confirm the same glitch on their phone or is mine a defected one? Cheers

  • I just purchased this and am using it on TMobile (US) and it is fantastic - the best phone out there for business use outside of a smartphone/ppc. I would highly recommend it.

  • really GOOD and BEST phone ---i brought for 120$ and this phone has best features and its stable ----DURABLE----SHOCK resis ----fantastic mp3 player with full bass and more option but phone design looks some wat CRAP its like calculator in a case,,,its black pouch is not much durablee screen is good ,, can see in SUN voice reception and BATTERY performance is WORST ever i used to talk for hours in my n-gage but in this phone u can talk for mere 20 - 40 min -- phone gets heated over recharge maks ur battery life DUMMYYY but its the best phone for entertainment rather than a professional it fits my JeAn pocket -----------------------------EAST aFriCA

  • Could some1 tell me if my P300 is not normal please!! bought it today and it has one ring tone and one message tone and one wallpaper!!!

  • god what the hell is this phone what a joke

  • this is the stupidest phone i've ever seen

  • dis is lik a calculator. but great creation coz dis was de only design left..GOOD

  • Sorry, forgot the link.

  • P308 is coming out.

  • just bought this phone last week. so far im very happy with it. samsung didnt miss a detail with this phone. bright colorful screen, executive finish, and all the features you need to meet the minimum requirements of techie cell phones today (bluetooth, speaker, MP3 player, camera, etc.) ... need a smartphone thats slim and gets the WOW factor everywhere it goes, this is it...

  • I just got one yesterday. It is lovely, much better than the pictures make it look like. My wife wants me to take her nokia 8800 in exchange for my p300. no way. Anyway, does anyone know of a USB charger that's compatible with it? The USB cable Samsung ships with it is only a data cable, no charging, and their "travel" charger is huge and butt ugly...

  • i got the samsung p300 yesterday. it is just as good as samsung said it would be. it was well worth the wait.cheaper than nokia's 8800 and i reckon its alot better too!!!!!!!!

  • I really want this phone, but I am confused. In some pics, the phone is one dark metallic color with the answer and end call buttons on one side, and all the buttons are the same color. Other pics have the top of the phone dark, and the call and end call buttons are on different sides, with the buttons a different color on the outside rows (like the pic on this site). So are there two different models? Is one the older one? Or if there is only one, which one is the one out there?

  • the marmite of the mobile phone world

  • Apart from looking like a calculator, this phone isn't that bad, (1.3mp cam, video, bluetooth) and the size is really small, this phone isn't for me, this phone in my opinion is for the older generation.

  • I loaded a mpeg4 (MP4) video in this phone and it said file not supported? Anyone knows which format of video it accepts? Thks!

  • I read about a cover for Samsung P300, with a built-in batterie. As soon as you close the cover it re-charges the phone batterie

  • this phone is good. but so horribly uncomfortable. I have to recharge it every night. what can I do about it? anby solutions.?

  • i wanted to have a phone that i can easily slim into my pocket and be inconspicuous about it. p300 is just perfect for the job. its a basic phone with good features. good camera. good battery life. keyboard arrangement is apparently not that bad. it takes some getting used to. i am happy with it. i could be happier if i could change the message alert tone to my mp3's and not be stuck with the built in midi ringtones.

  • You guys laugh at this phone because you want it so badly but you can't afford it. Its as simple as that.

  • We've just got this phone into our o2 shop, it's lovely! It's the real antithesis of cool, slapping the face of Sonys Walkman and Nokia L'Amour ranges. Sure, it hasn't got the features, but it is representative of that current ultra-chic decade - the 80s. I'd have one, but I like features too much to be concerned with what's hot and what's not... :-P

  • Jerome, can you please tell me if this phone comes in full black not blakc and silver? Cheers

  • Hi im a french mobile phone dealer and i think i can explain you why there is a difference between the talk time announced by samsung and the gsm arena ones. I think it comes from the fact that there is a secondary battery in the origin holster of the phone, furnished by Samsung so if you just considerate the phone included battery there is only 3hrs talk time but if you considerate the 2 batteries you can up to the double, about 6 hrs and Samsung are very optimistic by announcing 8 hrs. Hoping to have answer to your question and sorry for my bad level in English

  • Just a link for the people who think this phone is ugly: A work of art - Hurry up and deliver mine O2 - I can't wait any longer!

  • Hi, I have a question, they list it as Modern Black color which is silver in front with black stripe on top. Do they offer it as full plain black front? Cheers

  • i have to agree with "trickyhenry" there is nothing else on the market like this. i too have been waiting for something unconventional and this fits the bill, the only thing missing is external memory for mp3s as 80mb isnt really enough, then i couldnt fault this phone. Ordered mine on 5/4/06 but out of stock. I cant wait!! Has any one got some pics taken with the camera? thanks

  • I don't think many people on here have much apreciation for a 'uber' or retrochic design. Who the hell wants a Nokia? why do you want the same phone as everyone else? Can't you be different? This is a fantactic design and will probably influence nokia, motorola, sony eric so make their own versions. Mark my words!! rememeber this when you go out to buy nokia's small flat phone! Just because it's a bit different doesn't make it weird or ugly.. this is exactly the type of phone you want! its understated, its feature packed. I love the design and have waited years for someone to have the forsight to bring out a sucha cool phone. Mine arrives tomorrow! I can't wait!

  • i didn't know samsung also makes calculator??

  • gsmarena.com says it is 3hr talk time... samsung says it is 8hr.. which is correct ?

  • Spot on design! The fact that the 'skool kidz' hate it only increases it's appeal! Deffo reccommended, now on O2 for 20 quid on contract! What are you waiting for!!!

  • I love it.But have problem syncing it with my pc. can someone help?thanx

  • At first sight it looks like a calculator, with no doubt (picture). The real deal is very slick. Nice looking slim phone. You will hate it or just love it (like me). Go to your dealer and just watch en feel it. You will like it too.

  • i have seen one of these phones as a samsung rep came in to store a few weeks back it has an additional battery/wallet compartment so it is hidden in side a wallet so its a brilliabnt but of thinking on samsungs part

  • phone comes witha leather battery extention case, included.

  • Does anyone know if they will make a plastic holster for the p300--it's one slick phone.

  • at first i thought it was hideous too.. but now im loving it! it's soo cute! lol

  • To address your question whether or not it will work with Cingular? Yes the phone will work with our GSM network. Be advised though. This phone is not reccommended simply for the fact that it does not pick up the 850mhz frequency which the cingular network uses. If you are in an area that utilizes the 850 frequency you might notice minimal reception as well dropped calls. That goes for any phone. Please make sure the phones you are purchasing are compatible with our network. And ensure that the seller is offering a return policy.

  • I love putting posts about how ugly it is ok imagine puting that to ur ear and talking ppl aound u will say "omg this guys insane he wants a cell phone so bad heas talking into a calculator."HAHAHAHHAHAHHHAHHAHAHAHAHA

  • I wonder how many times people will post that this phone resembles a calulator? I think it's funny that all these people want to parrot each other. I personally love the design, it's clean, and masculine, it appears solid, and has some personality. There are so many phones now that are over-designed into a mess of cheap moulded plastic and shiny bits. This is a bit different, not a huge leap really, but at least it's not another curved, brightly coloured childs toy. Looks like I'll be moving from Nokia, who seems to have lost the concept of quality design, to Samsung. Certaily the Samsung/Bang & Olufsen Serene has boosted Samsung's image.

  • hi i saw the phone in the store yestarday, i really wan to get one, i currently have cingular as my service provider, i knw this phone is tri-band, and cingular is a tri-band provider, will this work on cingular network? will it work worse than normal? what is really the difference? i live in nyc, should i not buy it because its is tri band and there are quad band phones out? thanks for ur help

  • My phone came yest, and damn it's sexy. Mine came next dam from paris so manual and phone was in french O.o good thing i know a little >:D Menu is easy to use, sound quality is excellent when using loud speaker or normal, mic quality is same. Menu is functional and simple, but coz i'm a nokia guy, sommat to get use to. Vibrate isn't so good, but it's ok. Only downside i noticed it using data cable to put java games and polyphonic ringtones. Apparently it's a samsung trait and there is a fix, if you google. Well I love this phone, and it's very retro, and functional.

  • This looks like a calculator. I would rather buy an N70. Or break my own legs.

  • is it included the nice leather case in the package or not

  • About battery life: I tought I would let you know. Since my last post here dated 2006-03-09 15:20 (scroll down) I have charged the phone twice.. this should tell you a lot, especially if you put in the middle 2 business trips and about 50 photos. Right now, I still have roughly 50% battery remaining. Just do the math, in case you're worried about battery life.

  • to answer a few messages: i purchased my phone for $600. in regards to upstate new york. if your sim card is locked to the cingular network and they are using 850MHz spectrum in your area, you will have a problem since it allows you to select 1900MHz or 900MHz/1800MHz. the pictures are deceiving, it doesn't look like a calculator in real life and it is metal not plastic. the menus, camera, sms, mms, video recording are all excellent. the web browsing is a bit slow. the calendar is good but nokia is better. i thought these message boards were meant to help each other out rather than post useless comments. i hope others find this helpful. thank you.

  • a $900 Calculator

  • this phone is selling at $900.

  • I live in upstate new york and I was wondering if I can even use this phone. I really want one, but Cingular (my provider) could not tell me if it would work for me or not. Please help. Also, does it have a spot for a sim card? Thanks.. Dan

  • I think your just looking for negatives, there are none when you consider it's size and how much they manages to cram into it.

  • where is the fm radio and analog tv tuner pal-ntsc signals ? where is the card slot ?

  • It's a hard durable black plastic.

  • in picture on this site top of the phone looks like its black plastic but in some other pictures it looks like metal. Which is it? And of which material are the phonecovers made?

  • hahaha yeah it looks like a calculator :D

  • Hi folks. Somebody can help me? Im really seduced by this phone but last experience i made with samsung was tha all recent samsung phones have the same problem. It is following software problem. When u sent an sms, the number of the receiver is safed in a submenu called last message recievers. And the content of this menu cannot be erased. So all the numbers you ever did send a message will be kept in that menu. Does anybody have the same problem with the P300? Tnx guys.

  • haha it looks like a school calculator!!!

  • got one today - AMAZING! battery life is incredible. Speaker LOUD - using on T Mobile New York. T zones - perfect - MMS -perfect - Email client - perfect. GET ONE! Oh yea - it does this really cool thing - It blinks around the cursor selectors every :05 or so - just to let you know its ON! Way cool Samsung - good going.

  • Well i ordered mine :D and i'm really looking forward to it. TBH it looks more like a PCIMA card over a calculator, but i'm sure you'll all be eating your own hats when it actually gets on board the networks test it and then host the phone.

  • I consulted this forum before choosing what phone to buy and noticed a lot of bad comments (mainly on phone design) from people who never event touched the phone. On the other hand I read good comments from users of the phone. It was a good rule of thumb and I bought the phone. It's a truly good phone, excellent for business users in my opinion. The loud speaker makes it realy hands free, together with its mp3 player, voice recorder (1 hour), good camera and video recorder, it really makes it a good companion besides the standard phoning experience. I am used with Blackberry for years (I still use it), so I *demand* long battery life and I am so far more than pleased with it on the P300. If you need a good phone, give this a try in the shop, ask for your favorite functions (I use mainly Phone/Alarm/SMS/loud speaker/watch(!)/camera (just in case i se a UFO) ).

  • simple and usely

  • the best phone i have ever seen

  • it a calculator. it looks like it should be made by casio.

  • OMG this is the worst phone design ever. Its a calculator.

  • danggggggggg thats what i call UGLY that thing looks like one of those calcs engineers use

  • IT'S THE BEST PHONE I NEVER HAD !! The bettery's life is huge, the camera is good, the mp3 rules with 80 MB, Wap 2.0 for e-mail and co is enought, the screen's quality is magnifique... And all of this in only 8 mm !! Amazing phone BRAVO Samsung 10/10

  • Too bad it costs $600 at the moment. I really wanted one to replace my GD55 =/

  • I didn't like the design as well the first time i saw it on picture, but i totally changed my mind when i saw it in real life. It looks freakin' awsome. this must be the thinnest phone ever!!

  • Seriously this thing is Fugly! what was samsung thinking??

  • i just received my p 300 and i must tell all you none believers this is the best phone ive ever used the quality is out standing while i must agree that it looks like a cal, to some degree all comments from people think it is different and elegant i will use this instead of m nokia 8801

  • Today I got myself this phone and it is GREAT !!!! camera is good enough, screen is sharp as hell. and did I mention the phone is both thin and small. I own a K750i as well and that one is almost thrice as thick. Small detail: the leather case it comes with includes a secondary battery which makes up for the short battery life. This is one phone you can keep in your pocket unnoticed.......

  • you have to check out this link to appreciate it more I myself will be buying one of these, it's basic enough for a phone with me and with the 1.3 mega pixel camera and flash it can easily do 4x6 photos with no loss, and I'm a sucker for it's original design and charm. Oh and it's size, gotta remember it's uber small, and i seriously think all this calculator hype bull**** is not needed. zippy

  • looks like an ugly calculator...LOLMaybe that was the intetion when they were desingn it...

  • i just received this phone today. it is an excellent phone and the calculator look although strange is quite functional. the build quality is excellent as well as the features. plus it's extremely thin.

  • i think its the ugliest phone ever made!

  • damn funny lar..what is wrong with samsung?not user friendly and the design is getting from worse to worst...lolz

  • This thing needs to be seen or held to believe..classic one from samsung..jus shows how crappy nokias are

  • Got a proto type of this thing n its great.ive got people starin at me(d phone actually)Superb quality n finish too.

  • Definitely unique. Even though it looks like a calculator, what's wrong with a calculator? Most of you guys probably rely on it when you're doing math anyways. Might as well have it with you, it'll be handy. PS MJcp - Explain how you go back into the future cause I don't understand how that's possible.

  • well, in fairness to this device, i think its far way better than those well groomed phones when it comes to performance and device features. its just amazing how P300 catches so many eyes aside from being a calculator-like device. so i guess its still has a beauty in it...it's just beholder-dependent =P

  • If you dont understand its retro design you are very stupid. If you like plasticy rubbish then buy those kinds of phone. This phone has function over form. Very understated, very visually simple, and more than anything absoloutly tiny. 10/10. an excellent product

  • OK OK OK!!! Enough of this "calculator" $hit. Think positive, It sinply means they can put all the features in just 8.9mm...so there would me more coming up. So have some patience...wait and watch.

  • Its a calculator.. Without the calculator!!?! This is funny..

  • Apparently I'm sad for understanding design! Has anyone but me actually used this phone?...No?..I thought not.

  • is it a calculator or what? it's weird because Samsung usually makes phone with good design...

  • Actually it is pretty good idea for all those that use calculators throughout the day i.e. accountants etc. Chances are they do math more than talk on the phone

  • is it possible that the battery in Stand-by is Up to 160 hours ?????????????? isn't it a little bit too low????

  • DJG you seem to understand the concept, you seem quite sad

  • Are samsung going back to the future with this ? samsung seem to be trying there best to lose any market they hold. Its thumbs down with this.

  • samsung , i can understand that this wap a very brave decision of manufacturing such a model , i appreciate yor instincts but their is a very thin line that separates bravery from stupidity i know tht its rude comments for p300 but they are true samsung you please redesign this machine(body & keyboard layout) and relaunch p300 i hope you are listening and understanding

  • ha? is this a fone or a big calculator???

  • this is reall excellent for elderly because they would need this to calculate their pensions ha ha ha ha .......

  • yes...more companies should follow this...like CASIO, they are the leader in making calculators, but they have not come something like this. Calculator with GSM :-)

  • Overpriced!

  • WOW a colour screen calculator that makes sounds and being retialed for over $800, what a piece of ****

  • This phone is excellent for the elderly. Big screen and big buttons. It was very difficult for my parents to use the gsm phone since they are almost too small for them. Very clever. More companies should follow this.

  • this phone like calculator.Fun telefone

  • come on guys! we have seen so much mobile with a buil-in calculator. Its about time we see a calculator with a built-in mobile. Isn't that a great innovation? ha ha ha ha ha.......

  • for $800usd?? i rather get the vk2000 ($200usd) which is smaller and quad band and have enough money left over to buy a really nice digital camera or four vk2000.

  • i have seen better looking calculators...

  • neither samsung nor the enginers are responsible "all the credit purely goes to the Designer of this phone, who no doubt is in love with . . . . . . . . . . . .CALCULATOR ;-)" but the question arise "how did company like samsung approved such a horrible design" this design suprased enginrs innovative & Gr8 idea of using HORIZONTAL screen 220x176. maybe we should wait 4 same machine in new design

  • Excellent phone! Design is awesome, retro-look of old calculators. It reminds me on buisness calculators for chairmans in the eighties. Cool idea. Not for everyone, though, just for those who understand. ;)

  • This is my best try to be funny - It looks like a calculator. So, it is one of the smallest, lightest, battery is OK, screen too, it works, what elese do you want? (except price under 300$)

  • wtf? do we live in the 70's? this looks like a huge calculator, most other fones have the calculators built inside of them already.

  • stop experimenting, samsung!

  • I'm lucky to have had the pleasure of using a sample of this handset. It really is uber-retro. It's all about fashion, not features, hence most people on here don't understand the concept!

  • This phone is the ugliest phone I've ever seen! Features sound good though! Shame on you Samsung.

  • guyz i have great idea, buy this calculator opps i mean fone, open it up, take out the 1.3 mp camera n put it in ur fone, by de way itz best fone for ur maths class. AHAHHAHH

  • it looks like a calculator

  • Looks amazing, its good to see something daring to be different. Just a shame I cant get one now in the UK! Samsung UK confirm its on their website but cannot confirm when it will be avliable! I hate that! Sometimes I would just rather not know about the latest technology!

  • this fone is nice.

  • well, all of you complain it looks like a calculator. Fine, don't but it then. Be happy with other mobile phones, they will make sure you will not look like talking to a calculator... But if you don't care, this phone may be for you. The combination of size and features may be hard to beat, no matter if you like Samsung or not. I have d500, I'm happy with it and lough reading all the 'opinions' of all those who never used Samsung phones. Maybe you should try before expressing your 'opinion'. Cheers.

  • is this a phone or a 5 bucks calculator?

  • This fone is a complete............Calculator! Just look at it and tell me it doesnt look like a complete office calculator. Iv'e got a calculator that looks EXACT like it, a Casio one. BLIMEY!!! HA HA HA HA HA!!!

  • it looks great to me, i will actually buy one. everyone has different taste, but to me, a mobile phone would never replace my Ipod nano or sony T9.

  • Looks like brink's home security system! I'd be too scared to put it into my pocket cause' the alarm might go off! Haha

  • This is a great phone, you will not worry anymore when calling in crowded area that your phone will be snatch from your hand. They will think that your lossing your mind in using a calculator as a phone. But is not what they think, they are the one who will lossing their mind coz its actually a phone. :)

  • wow. they're so innovative as to design a calculator for a handphone.

  • very creative.. i like it but will never buy it.. unless i can bring it into test and pretend its a calculator while actually im calling my friends to look for answers mwuahahaha

  • Oh shut up! :) This is the most original thing we could see on gsmarena since long time ago.. It's extremly thin. It would look better if they arranged colours differently.

  • what da hell....this looks like a calculator i must say nokia and sony ericsson are in the league but samsung is loosing out. COME ON SAMSUNG! plus samsung have only got 1 2 mega pixel camera phone which is the d600. even though they have announced a 3 mga pixel and 5 mega pixel camera phone

  • New generation calculator that has a camera and voice calls facility. Come on guys, come out with some style.

  • What the hell is that? A new generation calculator? lol.. ugliest thing ever!

  • Very retro! Kraftwerk said it all: I'm the operator with my pocketcalculator!

  • functionally it looks to be good, but no memory expansion port?! big mistake!

  • Im sure its an alright phone but it looks like a calculator.

  • gotta tell yah everybody and there dog have put down this phone down because it looks like a calculator well in my opinion its a sweet design, clean lines and pretty decent list of features, I dig the retro vibe its very strong like Stalin and it will crush you. Seriously I hope they make a 850 version for those of us who use Cingular service, also what gives manufactures not making 850 phones I see more 900/1900 spectrum phones but little if any 850 can you say conspiracy!!!

  • Buy -> I actually rang O2 the other day and they said that were going to be selling this phone. I also read that it should be release next month.

  • is that samsung p300 got handfree?,plase reply

  • hello I am joni and i think this is the goodest and smallest fone id ever goten! i insist you get this istan! but it is also the most uncheaperst fone i ever got!5100 cents from ebay!rip on hey!well that is my onliest comlimaint.

  • lokes cheap thats way they say it lokes calcelator dont like it not for me

  • I really like it. I acrually want to buy it!! Look frwrd to see the calculator in the shops!!

  • MOMMY,i want a new CALCULATOR thru wich i can make calls to my friends..i want one TODAY! jokes apart, this fone has good features like blutooth,MP cam,MP3 etc.didnt expect such a design from samsung.

  • This phone is BRILLIANT! It is one of the geatest pieces of phone technology ever made. Who needs 3g? What acctual difference does it make? This has a 1.3 megapixel camera- Do Fine It has bluetooth - Great It has 90mb - keeps enough pics Mp3 player for ringtones. If you want to play music get an Ipod or something. All this in a phone that is 65g. That is 30% less than a V3 with all the functions and some in this. This phone is a great phone for the people who dont want to be like everyone elso out there. Most other phones are just some boring block of phone that could have any name on the front of it, they all look the same.

  • I just had this phone in my hand. Its a great phone and it fits inside a pack of cigarettes!!!! CAmera and display are also very good for a phone of that small size

  • i'll get a wrist phone instead

  • well actually it looks like a very ugly but advanced calculator.

  • That looks... really nice, actually. Doubt it'll get a UK release though. 90% of the phones on this site never make it into the UK market, and anything as strange-looking as this doesn't stand a chance.

  • This phone is great! Many say it looks like a calulator...ok i agree...but lets just remember those days....a calulator is all it would have been. The phone is a testament of how far technology has come. most of the phones out today are very same'ish, once upon a time nokia were bringing out the best of the best but now they seem to have lost thier mojo. motorola have been asleep with the last release the razr lookin amazing, but with such poor functionality most returned them for the d500. back to the phone, slim sexy and different....every thing i ask for in a phone..if u want music..get a ipod...you want a phone....get this one.

  • Samsung P300=This is a calculator!!!

  • I seen better looking calculators than this!!

  • This is such a cool looking phone! I love the retro look and this phone will look so good against my 80's Casio watch! Haha! Anyone have any news on the UK release date? I've looked all over the net, but I've only seen details of a Q4 2005 release and that's already past!? Take care people!!

  • It's very beautiful and light. Here in Switzerland it will be avaible on March 2006.

  • @ Spotter, y ask a q like dat? a can say dat i iz nt, r u?

  • Slim and light....

  • Hmm...does anyone else think there could be a possibility of nanoitis with this phone? (i.e. it breaking at every opportunity like the Apple Nano does?)

  • this seems more like a calculator in design with display of a GPS. bad design indeed, hope it performs good.

  • oh btw i agree pity it aint 3g but like a said lets c wot da future holds

  • @ Liz a wun say dis fone ad evry tin, a get ur point dat samsung r tryin sum tin diferent top marks 4 tryin but it does luk like an old skool calculater especialy coz ov da colour lay out (grey an black) plus it is on da bloky side howevr it is a positive step in d rite direction wil b interestin 2 c how far samsung wil take dis ultra slim fone range

  • Hey, I agree with the last person that posted! It looks like a calculator (not that much...) but its the slimest phone I ever saw! I also went to the website posted by the last poster and hell, it seams to be quite a good phone! I think I can even but it in my wallet as a credit card! I would buy this phone, but I need a 3G phone now... :( pitty it isn't a 3G! wow, I got to admit that this phone looks like a calculator, but hell that!! Its small!!! wow!!! The phone is as small as a credit card guys and very slim! And it has everything!! Hey, the phone is great!!!! Check out more at:

  • yes I agree with Jani, Motorola have not designed the slimmest bar type phone with megapixel cam and a lot features. Sonyericsson is stuck up with bar type and odd clam shell phone which are big and heavy. Nokia is the most odd of them all, always designing the biggest and the heaviest phone, from 3G, 2.5G and 2G phones. Posting long list of features which might include the frost free features of the double door refrigerator and the cable ready features of the conventional television. For sure we might see an AM/SW radio as time goes by.

  • In the recent years Samsung has always been the first major manufacturer to catch up with ideas, that has (and will) make it seem almost as a future teller. With this phone they're going to make it again, what ever you all say now... And it is also a very good thing fore the company to launch something so different from the other phones as this - yes, it's "retro", and there will be millions of us, "individualistic" people who want to feel like walking their own way, and say no to the masses with their "trendy" phones. (a certain and very seeming irony in this) And as phones like this will set the norm, then it shall be that another kind of model shall appear to satisfy our desire "to walk our own way" and so on and on and on... Yes, I'm one of the sheep seeing the irony, yet acting as I do. I shall buy this phone as soon as it comes out. It's superb.

  • i thought samsung makes fones not CALCULATORS

  • maaan this foni is awwwwful ! it looks like a texas instrument ! what a shame samsung is going down

  • bye bye RAZR!!! great work!!!

  • this fone is very ugly, get it out of the samsung page and display it together with the other plastic calculators sold in the streets.....

  • Oh you guys, samsung makes a phone small as a pocket calculator and you complain, people are never happy these days... tut tut tut!

  • It's a best and he uniquest phone i have ever seen. HoNeY

  • thats a phone or a calculator? oou come on this the ugliest phone can i see

  • I like it!

  • Even my sharp scienctific calculator looks fancier than this phone ;)

  • Anyone know the price? I guess US200$.

  • For godsake, this one looks like a calculator. What's up with that? Samsung makes pretty phones but this one is a giant step back.

  • I didn't know Samsung made calculators too!

  • hey guys. at least samsung phones never get bored and it shows that they are ready to create different designs for their phones. look at nokia...they are damn poor with their design.

  • Great product, will buy one for sure. samsung are the best!

  • It's the best phone I'ever seen beautifull....I'll buy it...Congratulations Samsung

  • ugly!!!! ugly!!!!! ugly!!!! yuk!!!! samsung wake up for pete's sake.....you manufactured a cheap plastic calculator

  • It looks exactly like a caculator just den u can make phone calls wif it another useless product by samsung

  • it is NOT the size of a brick, its the size of a credit card and les than one centimetre thick. go to mobile review and look at the phones review. "maybe you should read the specificatioins"

  • Tom, Would you be able to tell me where you found the info about the release date being moved up? thanks :)

  • big as a brick read the dimensions.

  • NOOOOOO, this phone is coming out MID JANUARY now! Bummer, I was hoping to get one for Christmas.

  • Oh no, it looks like a old calculator, so ridiculous. I so big as a brick.

  • Looks like Darth Vader is missing his chest control panel

  • Love the calculatorl... cellie does it come with Matlab?

  • This is definately my type of phone. Im a calculas geek...and what do i care about how the phone looks...i will be using bluetooth anyways...the phones thin and in my areas there are alot of thieves/wannabegangsters...but who would steal a calculator:P

  • i agree that it looks like a calculator, in fact, i tot that gsmarena posted a wrong picture at first

  • When did Samsung start making calculators? Wait... its a phone! I really wonder who will actually use it...

  • looks like a calculater to big.

  • what a pile of crap sort it out samsung wacky designs dont work.

  • haha.. i like this one.. because it simply doesn't look like a mobile phone! hahaa.. coolz if people wonders y i'm using a calculator to call... haha =P

  • where d heck is d camera?and how many memory does it have?

  • It Looks like calculator...zzz

  • is this the slimest phone in the world? is it will be expensive? i love a slim phone like this but i don't like its shape such a calculator. if i use this phone, people will think that i'm using a calculator. but above all, i really love this phone.

  • This phone looks incredible. I for one will definately get one. I think the retro styling is fantastic and literally the only downside to the phone is the non-expandable memory. Everything else about it screams sophistication, functionality and elegance. You people have no class. Run on home to mommy and ask for some cheap nokia rubbish! Peh!

  • Samsung? What da hell happened 2 u guyz??!

  • WOW, i think samsung will conquer the markets now. Absolutely very elegant phone, I have always liked calculators.. not :P

  • Looks like a calculator!

  • I love the retro look of this phone as well...if they get it out soon enough, I'll totally be getting this instead of Moto's L7... So...my only question to Samsung: When exactly? It's December already...they've got 29 days now...

  • That's my phone!!

  • RETRO is the way to go. This phone looks fantastic and, by the looks of it, will not bulge out your suit jacket. Well done Samsung

  • hahahhhaahahaha!!!!! the ugliest phone in the world!!!!! how dare they!!!! samsung has got alot of nerves to ever make this m****f******g phone!!!!

  • actually i think it's just the pic that is really tainting its image.. jus like to bring up an earlier comment made by "david"... look at this site: it aint so bad after all... however.. i still wudn't get it XD.. mainly cuz of the $$

  • This phone simply look like a calculator

  • this phone is just ugly...not so samsung-like. and the features is like so retro...back to the old days???it's pure mistake. good thing they have lined up other models worth looking forward to though.

  • does it have an unlimited video recorder with sound ? is it a 3gp video format ? i hope they will make it with a memory card slot .

  • retro design will be big in mobiles in the future and this phone will be the on to set a trend

  • THe phone isn't even out yet, if anyone doesn't like the phone please enlighten the rest of us as to why., objectively. I think it looks like a card, not a calculator..i can tell some of you haven't been in school for a while

  • pure uglyness.samsung is good but this???trash.just buy a calculator.

  • this is the worst phone i have ever seen,i work for o2 selling phones and i would never try and give this to a customer.anyone would be mad to buy this unless you want an expensive calculator of course

  • what do you all meen.the fone is pure ugly.why not just buy a calculator for a pound

  • Pro 1) Samsung Pro 2) small size & light weight Pro 3) has a Carrying Case Con 1) Too many surpurflous wizbangs crammed into a phone make for an overall "par" unit. Overall I'm impressed. Between this phone and the VK2000 I'd pick this phone. If I wanted an extremely tough phone impervious to physical damage, I'd buy the Nokia 8800.

  • hahahaha! a calculator phone! this is a great disguise on your mathematics subject, ur prof won't even know its a phone, that could store your formulas, hahhaha! genuius ideas from samsung! kudos!

  • I like this phone it's unique, the feature's is fine with me also, it's just like having mobile that has a disguise of a calculator...Great gadget! It's simply rocks...! How much is the market price for this?

  • Without any doubt whatsoever, perfect calculator that have colour screen

  • is tis sum kind of joke from SAmsung??i rather get a calculator..cheaper compare to tis..yucks..

  • Hey this is really a cal...........it cool but its kind of ugly i really do not want to buy such fone pple wont know the value.......Any way let see wat it going to look like when it comes out

  • no doubt its a calculator.. samsung should stop its manufacturing right now to avoid their ......... and to save thier .....

  • So when is this phone coming out? Will there be a black version as well? Hopefully, samsung will release this before christmas! awesome phone.

  • after tolking to samsung s.e.asia,the price here will be 450 usd.so i think in europe it will go for 500 usd.

  • According to the Kataweb/Cellularmania article , it DOES have a calculator. It also has: MP3/AAC player, WAP 2,0 browser, JAVA MIDP 2,0 with 2 games, voice memo, agenda, calendar, activity, notes, alarm clock, converter, chronometer and count down. Anyone know of any pricing details for the UK market yet?

  • Excellent! And yes, About the same width of the VK2000 w/ A megapixel camera! Very nice samsung! But i think this is just hilarious.. The calculator phone does NOT have a calculator... hahahaha.

  • If you see this picture, you'll change your mind.

  • the picture of this phone does not do it justice, when ya see one it looks nothing like a calculator!!!!! Meet one of the samsung directors last week and he had one already and its an awesome lil thing.!!! can easily fit in a cred card slot in a wallet !!! the screen is a good size considering the size of the phone. this phone is miles better then the 8800. its a must have!

  • it'll be also available in black, and in black it looks a lot better. memory:90 mb,80 mb for pics and movies.movies are recorded in cif!!! standbytime:200 hrs. tolktime:2,5 hrs.it also comes with 2 batteries.

  • ok so what if it is like a calculator? So therefore we can have the thinnest calculator, thinnest megapixel camera, thinnest mp3 player and the thinnest phone w/ big screenrolled into one. Would it that be terrific? Awesome!!! You can put it inside your wallet.

  • i find it strange that people keep saying that i do not have a calculator ability. every basic cpu out there can handle maths, and the amount of code needed for a basic calculator is so small that it would be silly not to put it in. only real downside to this phone is the lack of a flash slot. still, with the size of it, im not realy surprised. i just hope it have a lot of internal memory as video, megapixel photos and mp3s eat storage fast...

  • Stand-by? Talk time???

  • Have we all confirmed then, that this does look like a calculator?.........Bueller?.... Okay then, no more calculator comments pleeeeeeeeeeease. Otherwise, Samsung's phones are excellent, so I don't see any reason why this one won't be the same.

  • I heard that this phone has a gorgeous leather case.

  • Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its a calculator! Worlds First Calculator Phone!

  • Haha, what a cool idea! I believe this phone is exactly for students to cheat in school and it's realized very good. Teachers don't search the iNet for cheat-phonez so the whim is perfect. ;)

  • Cool phone to cheat on exams

  • IS This a calculator really it looks like one

  • This phone looks like calculator

  • still confused ! is it a mobile phone or a calculator ??

  • & first prize for the uglyest cell phone goes to Samsung for the p300.

  • first impress??? disgusting look :(((( ill never buy this

  • I think its useful in the business? but be sure you have always phones with you, dont considere this one!its really crumpy calculator, blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, hey samsung guy's what next you like to design?please not a very disappointed one?please................!

  • dae wat r u talking about! i thought u gonna buy D500C! U ALWAYS KEEP CHANGING!

  • i heard there's an extended battery on the wallet as you can see on photos. that's really unique concept i think.. sweet!!!

  • Wow, only samsung has the technology to embed a megapixel camera to a very thin phones (8mm),plus a multimedia features.

  • OMG!! The calculator doesn't even have a calculator feature...this is the funniest thing. For guys who wanna use this in the exam may disappointed you. Myabe you can cheat by send and receive text messages instead of using this as a real calculator..rofl~

  • I like a simple phone like this. It can be put the pocket. Wow Small thing has almost functions

  • Wow, 8.9mm Amazing !! I'd like to buy this Phone ~~

  • I'm NOT a Samsung fan, but I like this phone's retro look.

  • Hei i got a gr8 idea... how bout samsung put a new hp dat looks like PS2 controller... it will be fantastic..

  • Huh!! small screen... low MP... No slots?? doesnt look like hp... walao.. hp looks like laptop (serene) n now looks like RM5 calculator... Wat nxt?? hp looks like diary book?? or looks like computers mouse?? or more worse looks like spoon?? but sumthing incredible dat dis hp can be use in de skool exam... maybe de high skool student should take 1.

  • cant hate 'em but cant like 'em either. calculator thats is tryin to be a hp? whats next???

  • I do not read comments of people before, but this phone oops... calculator really got my attention. Advatage of this phone are... 1. It won't get snatched, because it does not look like a phone 2. If you left it on a table in a cafe, swear, you'll find it the next day where you left it. 3. a calculator that can make calls. 4. you can cheat on exams using this calculator 5. It can take pictures where a cameraphone can't go. (haha) because they thought it is a calculator anything else guys you can add?

  • Only 8.9mm???? its going to set new trends guys. No I'm not impressed with the look. Not at all. It could have been done a much better way. I'm expecting more on this line from Sansung with the same thinkness. So all you guys out there stop making noise, just wait and watch!!peace.

  • New age of Calculators.

  • Blaaaarrg!!! Were they drunk when they made this, or was it designed by a headmaster? Aside from cheating in exams, this phone is about as much use as a waterproof windchime.

  • World ugliest championship!

  • what a funky calculator!

  • I think this mobile is awesomly done. It's really been thought through. It's a uniqe design, it could become a mobile phone for design-people. It's thinner than Moto Razr. And it has all the futures you actually could want from a cellphone today! I think it's vulgar, but still very trendy... I believe this will be a huge hit amongst fashion-passion people.

  • Wahahahahaha!!!! I Like it! but i hate it's style that looks like a calculator ! How Gross! but i really love its Features and not it's style.

  • MAN!!!!! Jst about the ugliest phone I've seen... u gotta be blind to buy this!

  • Call me crazy, but I like it :)

  • woooooooooooow!!!....... am very impressed.. it`s da very super ugliest phone i`ve ever seen in m` life...

  • calculator shape today......banana shape tommarow......get this crapy ideas and design out samsung.....u guys are top manufacturer........

  • Try the "phone finder". This phone as absolutely no concurrent on the market. His ratio dimensions-weight/performance is stunning. It's the phone i'm waiting for. Thanks Samsung!

  • i got bored so lets say it again its a calculator

  • Finally a calculator able to make calls and take photos, nice idea by samsung.

  • disappointing product from a brand lyk SAMSUNG Definately Expected a lot betta frm em NO DOUBT.....It Is A Calculator

  • keke.. looks like a real calculator arround $10.

  • the shape makes me feel sick :( 1/100 mark for design

  • this is calculator... not phone... bring this out... people will think u bring a calculator out,,,

  • who would like to buy a calculator implemented with 1.3mpx camera ? if some people got confused with SE s700 as a real digital camera. then im 100% convinced that MOST- if not ALL people wont be able to contrast the appereance of this calculator..ups phone i mean, =P with a calculator ~~

  • guess what its dosent have a calculator in it hahaha!!!!@ the calculoator dosent even have the calculator function hahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!@ LOL LOL

  • People will ove it because it has big buttons

  • yup..first thing came to mind was 'calculator'

  • I luv this calculator...but it just doesn't look like a phone. Imagine seeing people who talk to a calculator but it's actually a phone...well it's kinda funny.

  • ha ha ha =)) what is this... 2 dolars maximum ..yakk

  • I looked up to samsung so much for their cell phones, but this falls off my chart of expectation. My first comment was is this a calculator. Samsung you guys need to withdraw this phone from the market, and go back to the drawing board, or where ever you guys created it.

  • i think this is the most stupid mobile appeared in the history it's look like calculator and the featrues are not oraganizd together so it's very bad

  • At least they can't take it away from you in school. :P

  • I think it's a caculator right !!

  • The simple form should be appreciated, and end of the line its a tiny phone u can carry all the times in your pocket without discomforting you

  • But its unique in its size, and great to have it as secondary/private phone

  • Nice calculator....

  • Finally a credit card phone that's tri band and doesn't require a headset (like NEC's)!It's too bad the price will probably be rediculous. Also I for one prefer the simplistic design. My Panasonic GD55 looks like crap, but it's small and gets the job done, which is all I carea about.

  • Yea but a calculator with a 1 mpx kamera:))

  • UGLY!

  • ugliest phone ever!!!! samsung, get a life! for crying out loud. I wouldnt get this phone even if it were the last phone on earth ...

  • this looks like a calculator from the 70's

  • yep! it's a calculator...

  • its ugly

  • good grief! i always considered samsung to be short of ideas judging from the same platform it uses over and over again for its clamshell and slider phones. but this really takes the cake or should i say the whole bakery. it tok a moron to come up with a design and a few others to let production of it go ahead.

  • i call this a caculator..

  • It looks like a calculator

  • It may be the thinnest phone in the world, but the design is so modest and boring, and it's features are averige.

  • What is Samsung thinking?
