very very rare phone to find you could probably find one on the market depends, they only made a few of Samsungs P860..it was the only phone around back in 2005 with 5 mega pixel it was to soon so it discontinued straight away it was a shame waste of time

The phone works but the cable has the wrong drivers even after translating the chinese cdrom. The drivers would not work with the phone. Q. Are there any drivers that will work in English? These phones are still on sale on eBay. So watch you don't get stung too.

Well i have jst bought a samsung p860 from a friend in hong kong it is brand new and it works fine in the UK, I am using the mobile phone company T-mobile and it is fine. The only problem is that the screen is a touch screen and there was any touch screen plastic pens with the phone. I am happy and they do work in UK. thanks louis

PeteMC !!!! you sould not buy any products from Alibaba or those stupid B2B connection web site..at least if the company is Authorised by the web site.! i am Korean ... and i have 23 Mobile phone shop in Korea... there is no GSM mobile phone in Korea... all phones are made for CDMA... at least Samsung making for Export goods. and those one you can not get. in Korea... the best and cheap place to buy GSM phones are... from China or Hong Kong as i am also selling Parallel Imported Phones in New Zealand. i always get GSM phones from Hong Kong or China.

Mr Pete, I am in uk and being offered a SAMSUNG SGH-P310 from Alibaba, im still in the process of checking this guy out, he has a small business based in europe, and claims he has a friend in korea who sells him the odd phone here and there. I'm cautious because this hasn't been released in UK, US or EU that this phone will be as you have already stated for this model will be more advanced and will not work on our standard GSM networks even if the guy is genuine, which i doubt. Can you give me your thoughts. Thank you

GSM arena did not give the full specifications of the phone, the only good feature they did mention was the camera. no tom, samsung isnt going to release any phones with that form factor in the u.s. because this is the only phone they ever made with that form factor. they might in the future but i highly doubt it. and the phones that they sell in the u.s. block all of the good features.

If America and Europe has 3G which lets you watch short video clips, in South Korea many providers (SK telecom, KTF, LG Telecom) are providing DMB service (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting)it allows users of those providers and phones to watch live tv and etc on your cellphone. So I wouldn't recomend anyone in getting this phone. 3G or DMB is th future and Anycall has been pushing for that since 2005 and its being released all over the world especially europe and asia (America has VCAST for verizon but thats nothing).

For everyone who has question about this phone I work for Samsung's Anycall in Seoul and this phone is only CDMA sold right now, and probally wont be have a gSm version for the future or never. So please dont lie to others about having this phone for GSM cause Samsung did not release this phone for GSM yet. This phone is only sold in South Korea.

Picture Quality =============== To be quite honest, after having a look at the S250 review on mobile-review.com, I'm not all that impressed with the pic quality. It's quite noisy and the colour & contrast could be better. They stated that it's the best model in its class. It's very good, but SHARP are producing same quality products. By the way this phone is an imaging phone & the Best Imaging phone at that...better than the N92, Sharp 904 or the LG 5Mp phone... When it comes to Smart Phones, the Sony-Ericsson P990 or the E70 are the best...according to Symplification.com Gosh...N80 is just a wannabee with poor imaging, poor ergonomics, poor battery life & overall not worth it... The Korean S200 (I believe it was...) model is EV-DO. They are not very good with going from standard to another... I think it's strategy too... With the latest Samsungs just touching 2-3.2 Mpx, it's not wise to launch this handset yet. This handsets features are no longer all that superb compared to the latest models and competitors models. It will probably be cancelled if it's not released within the next 2 Months. THIS IS AN ESTIMATE AND NOT A PROVEN FACT. @ Kyle, The lenses do make a big difference, but the actual size is irrelevant. The optics need to be good, what really matters here is the sensor: The sensor size must be decent, and it will matter whether it is a CCD or CMOS matrix. The new Sony Cybershots have the same size lenses as the Sharp 903 but a better sensor that make the quality a bit better. Mobiles will incorporate decent enough quality to replace a Compact Digital Camera. skater42

TO "SKATER" I'm not saying that Panasonic is trying to compete with those brands. And I believe that yes, Sharp 903 has the most advanced digital camera out of all cellular phones. What I like about Panasonic is that, it hase its consumer market strong in Asia and is happy about it. Panasonic does not go crazy, does not overloas its phones with useless crap.. and creates simple mature looking good sounding phones just like the SHARP does as well. ( Trust me new Panasonic and New Sharp phone have very good and smooth sound quality, even better than Nokia. I personally cheked it).

Thank you "Mahyar" . That is what I always keep telling people as well. Every picese of crap brand such as even Motorola and Lyosera have Megapixels today. Without optical zoom, basic camera features, real automated flash ( not a flash light, lol) this 5mp camera whould be added to the phone for only extra $100! AND THERE IS nothing special about p860. I saw this phone live at Korean store in New York. Keypad layout is so tight and small, it is simply ridiculous! It is not for mature people again! What a shame! Geez it's not the number of pixels that really counts, but the sheer quality of lenses! still there is no optical zoom and all other things that a decent digital cam has, I personally have Casio Z750 cam which is simply perfect - as small as sony T1, 7.2 megapixels, great quality lenses , full manual options, 640-480 movie recording with mpeg4 compression which gives almost one hour of an astounding quality movie on 1 GB card, and in a near future no phone will be even close to these standards meerly because of the design barriers.. but ok SE K750 does a good job I must say ;D cheers!

It's pretty cool. the camera doesnt lag and the feature was awesome. there is samsung exhibition place at Time Warner Building in NYC and I saw the model of it. This phone is real, well the CDMA version is. Its quite popular in Korea, and the 5MP camera adds a nice touch. I'm not too sure when the GSM version of this phone will be released, but hopefullly soon. Besides, this phone is technically outdated, you can get a 7mp version of this baby in Korea already, complete with attachable zoom lens.

it has a tv output, you can display those pictures at quite a large size, and what says it has to be a brick? You should check out the XCUTE DV2 it's a 6mp 16.7m color phone and it's not very big.

I think that it will be a breakthrough. 5MP on a phone sounds great !! But Nokia 3230 disappointed me when I saw the picture on my monitor. It was nearly the same quality with the pictures taken by 6600. The best policy is to wait and see when they're released.

In my opinion the 5Mp camera will make poor quality pics. I'm sure a Canon A510(210Eu, 3Mp) makes much better pics at a lower price. I think the phone doesn't make it's money. Symbian is a lot more advanced, but Samsung hasn't heard about it yet.

I have seen sample pictures of the Taiwanese Version of this phone...(Samsung XXX-200 or so) and the pictures were F***IN' AWESOME!!! They were smooth, no grain, colorful... you just couldn't tell the difference from a real camera. And features, OMG features are amazing. The screen is smaller, yet it's 320 x 240 which means they compressed the pixels even more. I'll try to find the site for you again, it's very good!!!

The only thing it lacks is optical zoom, thats why it wans't "raved" by so many responses...on top of that, small lense makes it harder to procure wider angle capabilities and exposures... but recently, if y'all know the news...samsung decided to add x3 optical zoom to it...how nice...

Hey with a 5 mega pix cam and 16 m screen this phone is a blast. but problems can arise depending on the type of battrey used because with such powerfull hard ware the usage time for an above average user would be very limited. oherwise its a great phone

right now all we have is speculation. As it is we can't possibly know what type or size battery they plan to use. If it's the standard Li-ion with it's relatively low mAh then ofcourse it'll be a short talk/stand-by time, but if it's a li-ion polymer with a higher mAh then it could possibly have a decent talk/stand-by time. As far as we can tell the cdma version has decent battery life, but we'll just have to wait and see. Judging by the cdma version of the phone the screen and camera are actually quite good. I can't wait for my chance to get my hands on it. Only downside will probably be the price, the cdma version foes for $990 in South Korea. As far as the N90 goes, why choose? Get both. Maybe get an A1010 as well.

Inresting phone, but still not up to par with any other companys like Sony Ericsson, or Nokia, 1st does not have the 3G/UMT net work service or capabilitys, 2nd if its gonna have a 16m screen and a 5mp camra how big is the phone gonna be almost as thick as a v902?, 3rd what's the battery life on the phone gonna be? probably horrible cus of the screen and the camra just gonna eat all the power up. So in all aspects this phone is just not practical and just some what of a gimick.

well i think karens got a point, depending on how the n90 does nokia will probably put carl ziess optics in every "revolutionary" camara phon so when the ig 5 mp comes around the optics are sure to be nearing an actual camara and as for the screen, samsung takes the buiscuit on that.

No, this is not true. The Closest rival of the P860 will be Sony Ericsson K750i, Nokia N90 and Sharp 902. None of these match the camera quality of the P860. But, shots taken by my P860 (CDMA version) at night seem to be abit grainy and had abit of noise. Which my k750 and 902 test phones both had. at day time, this phone produces maximum results and can be compared to some digital cameras.

I think that this is an awesome phone considering the hardware part. I mean a 5mp camera is unheard of and 16 m screen was unimaginable on a phone. But Comparing samsung 262k, 1.3mp phone with nokia's equivalent it is noticed that the image quality was much better in nokia. So im sure that the nokia 5mp will be better so just wait for it, however 16m screen is surely gonna hike the price of this samsung phone by leaps. Dont think it is worth the buy at the moment. Im gonna wait for nokia to come out with something similar and compare so i can make an informed decision

This phone has been out for quite a while in South Korea, called the SCH-S250, but does not work on gsm networks, for Korean uses CDMA networks. When it was released in South Korea, Samsung said that it was only going to be released in Korea, but I guess they changed their minds

While 5mp may be a bit of overkill you also have to look at the screen resolution you're getting in this thing, 16m colors. That's insane. All I want to know is what is the GSM release date and how much am I going to be paying. Though the release date matters a lot more than the price. Also, will it come factory unlocked.

Another thing that Samsung should have done was to use a easily available SD or mini SD card. MMC card is hard to get and expensive making memory media hard to get. I'm happy with my Sharp 901iC with a video recording capability with timer like a DVD/VHS deck.

I truley think that a 2MP camera phone is the maximum, because you can only put a small optics onto the hanset. To utilize the full feature/resolution of a 3MP or more you would need a high quality lens (fine optics) otherwise it's just a overkill. Putting a 5MP CCD with a limited optic is not going to produce any better picture than a 2MP camera phone like the 902SH.

To skater42, No need to doubt the 5Mpix., but good need to doubt the usefullness of it! The problem is that the small size of the lens make the 5Mpix 'useless', the raw picture will be so 'unclear' that a good deal of smoothing is needed, thus reducing the effictive resolution... This is pure optics. (Rayleigh's criterion) The inaccuracy of the picture is roughly inverse proportional with the diameter of the lens... (e.g. answers.com/topic/angular-resolution)

I want to see some sample pictures from the S250! I still doubt that they are pure 5Mpx images. It must be interpolated!!! Anyone prove me wrong please. 16 Million colors are awesome, though we've had them a while in TFT Monitors already. It's just a matter of compressing 320x240 px into 2.0" screens. Quite remarkable I think. I hope sharps next model will feature 16M colors.

This phone is really gonna set the standard when it comes out, I've heard it's gonna be over in the UK by the end of this year, my upgrades due in december on my D500. The only thing is the screen "looks" too small, but maybe it's different in real life. 16m colours is insanity, considering we're only into 262k at the moment. This will cost a bomb on contract but i'm getting it either way.

I'm very sceptical: 5 MPx, 16M screen. Sounds all nice and good, but I need to see some sample pictures to seriously convince myself. I strongly believe that it's interpolated from like 2MPx onwards. The lens just doesn't seem to be good enough for 5Mpx. I mean, it's probably just more bout competition than actual quality. Samsung wants to beat FOMA and Vodafone in Japan, and is doing OK in that. But only by specs, I hope that the quality is just as good. If anyone has more DETAILED specs on the camera I would appreciate it. As far as the screen goes... I'll need to see it. Panasonic is also producing 16M screens, but from their reviews it's as good as the 256k screens. I'm waiting for the new GX40 by sharp, if anyone has some info on that please let me know!!! PS: Why can't Samsung manage to put W-CDMA in some of these models other than the Z-Series??? Would it be so hard to produce a W-CDMA out of a RTT Evolution?

It has MP3 player ofcourse. One of my friends in Korea uses this for CDMA version. Great one. It cost like $800 for CDMA version in korea. I donno how much they gonna sell GSM version in US. I'm using P730 right now but as soon as this phone's gonna come out, imma gonna get this right away. lol

this fone can extend memory by using Rs-mmc memory card so the memory isn`t matter when you take photo but this fone`s built in cam is CMOS sensor and it didn`t take Optical zoom in it So it`s cam capacity doesn`t really good as other 5 mega pixels

this phone not too bad it around same weight as nokia 6680 and smaller than a 3510i. it may be bigger and heavier than other phones available but for its features it is ok. 16m color screen and 5mp camera. awesome the highest resolution camera phone phone i ever seen someone have in real life was 1.3mp and a 256k color screen. so this phone should have a clear screen and awesome picture quality. the specs sound awesome being able to play back your videos from your phone on your tv and the high resolution 3d games and the 3d sounds and voice text too awesome. the 7mp phone is bigger than this and looks like a phone stuck on to the end of a camera but this looks ok apart from the top part of it but will not matter too much.

He yall, well, i saw the cdma version of this phone at CES 2005 and all i have to say is that this phone is amazing. It is not a samsung CCD sensor or lens. However, it is basically a Pentax optio just put into the phone. when i was playing around with it, I noticed that the phone was kinda big and heavy. However, for it's features, i don't mind the extra girth. The screen is AMAZING. I looked at a ton of "new" phones that day at CES however, when i saw this phone, my eyes ere shocked to see the screen. I can't realy describe it, but it was really really clear and vibrant. It didn't even look like a phone screen. Also, the phone itslef looked sooo awesome and construction felt solid. I can't wait to get it in the form of the GSM p680. Furthermore, many of the people in here haven't even seen the phone in real life so don't dis, because it'll put any of your phone/pda/camera/mp3 player to shame.

well.... the camera has high resolution u think its gonna replace ur everyday digicam?? You make no sense, the D500 got a 1.3CCD camera, it's functions are top with the rest of the high end phones, with exceptional build quality.
