Samsung S7710 Galaxy Xcover 2 - User Reviews

  • I only have 1.8gb on this phone

  • My phone always restarts it self until l flashed it.this problem always comes back l dnt knw what cld be the cause

  • My fon is just restarting its self when ever i put it on,it keeps on restarting

  • Hlo Am using X cover2 but am having problems with its internal memory .....am seeking for help pliz if you ever once used this phone........plizzzzzzzz

  • I re flashed mine using this: Downloaded this: S7710XXAMB6_OXEAMB3.zip Now I have extra 1.2 GB to use

  • Sam, would you mind elaborating on this? Which rooting method did you use? And which ROM? Any specific tweaks you recommend? Is it possible to expand RAM?

  • PROS: - indestructible, I'm a blacksmith and this has been my phone for about two years and it has been through everything you can imagine and more, including fire, water, grease, being stomped by cars more than once, welding sparks, falling from big hights, everything. There's no breaking this phone. - All the hardware buttons are comfortable and as durable as the rest of the phone. - Pretty reliable and easy to use even with greasy or wet fingers. - The main camera is really good for a 5mp one, although kind of slow. - The battery is good for normal use and can be replaced, although I'm still using the original one. CONS: - the internal memory is a real problem, installing the basic apps is imposible if not rooted. Rooting is easy and linking or moving apps to your SD "fixes" most issues although I've had a few problems with missing linked apps. - The cover for the USB connection at the bottom gets broken and lost kind of easily, I've changed it a couple of times in the past two years and I just gave up, it's still resists everything without it, even liquids. - Slowest boot ever.

  • I use this phone about 2 years , and only negative side is the low memory size, after uninstalling all other apps, there are still too low memory for needed apps, and i don't mean any games or stuff. But otherwise no serious errors or something like that. Good battery ,and still working after every day in industrial dusty atmosphere.

  • Hi. Could you give a step by step guide for the process. I am not at all savvy but would appreciate the help. Tks

  • The negative comments are obviously by people that lack experience and knowledge when it comes to android opertingsystem and IT. If you knew how to optimize this device properly (i got one today in 2017 for free in perfect condition) I rooted it, tweaked it a bit a and it works flawlessly even now in 2017. I recommend doing research and learn something, it's not hard at all. This device as I made it right now can even be used daily today. Yes, it's that fast, smooth and has extra ram+storage.

  • This was the worst phone I ever had and the reason I will never trust s Samsung agsin. useless. No memory Poor build quality - not water resistant after 1 month.

  • I have inserted a 16 GB external SD card but i could change the setting of camera to memory card. It automatically changes into "device memory". I cannot capture more photos and video due to storage problem. Please suggest me something to fix this problem so that i can change my setting of camera permanently to "memory card".

  • This phone is absolutly undestructive (if you are trying to destruct it in normal ways :D ) I can throw it about 7meters high then it fall on asphalt and nothing happen to it. Performence is nothing special, rather pretty slow.. but it worth this undescrutibility. love it. Thomas - Czech Republic.

  • I had the same issue plus a battery disconnected error from time to time, and solved it by cleaning the battery contacts (changing the battery may also work if that fails) It is somehow related to battery contacts not touching the ones on the phone properly. Also it seems to be a common isssue for samsung phones.

  • l have just bought it still studying it after a while l will give feedback but now enjoying it more than other phones l have used.

  • Sorry, you can't. Unless you are prepared to spend a lot of time, take some risks and nullify your warrantee.

  • I got past the small size by flashing a pre-rooted rom and partitioning my SD card. But then I was 'surprised' that there's no gyroscope either! Cmon, I was gonna use that! If you get past the small storage and the reflective screen in the sunlight, and the lack of some other features in the specifications, it's a pretty good phone and it'll last a long long time for you.

  • I have Xcover 2 for some time, and knew about it's memory issues, so first thing I did was rooting. Rooting fixed those issues only for temporary period. Basically if you don't want any issues with low memory, just do not install any games or unnecessary apps! Phone doesn't save installed apps on card! Everything else is kinda okay. It's performance is on par with S3 Galaxy Mini whom I have too. It is indeed very reliable and sturdy, however I've managed to smash the digitizer anyways... Battery life is acceptable, and there's no problems with the battery. I love this phone, especially the design, but it's kinda sad, I've managed to scratch it up so badly.

  • I've been having the exact same problem..!! It keeps on telling me "NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK" bt yet I am able 2surf the internet.. I'm actually posting this comment using this phone but when I try and check my airtime or make a call it tells me "not registered on network"..!!! Can u tell me whether you have found a solution 2your problem as yet please..?!

  • I am having problem with my Samsung S7710.the bars for the high to low and it simply says Emergency calls only/No service and i don't know either what to do

  • such a great phone indeed realy enjoying this device , I just don't know how to set it up so it can also save stuff on external SD card please help

  • Indeed a great smartphone!! But it is not understandable why they only spent 1 GB RAM. With this limitation you can hardly have a browser, a GPS app and your collaboration apps on the phone and this is the absolut minimum for a 'outdoor smartphone' If they even would have spent 2 GB or offer an upgrade possibility, this would really be an outstanding simple outdoor phone

  • great phone in combination with CM 10.2 (unofficial skomer) ... got it 3 years and it is still working like a charm. Disadvantages: - Low memory (RAM + Storage) - Not the fastest Root it -> apps 2 SD

  • my phone is only using wifi it doesn't wana use the MB

  • happened the same to me. only i didnt even charge it over night turned off the wi-fi and everything. and in the morning just dead. nothing works, it doesnt respond to anything: headphones, charger, usb, power button, taking out the batter even hard reset doesnt work. and the battery still works tested it on my tongue. if you solved it pls share

  • Please help contacts freeze when whant to make more than one call screen just stuck at one place what cani do

  • Please help contacts freeze when whant to make more than one call screen just stuck at one place what cani do

  • try this method. i have tried and it works.

  • i have charged my phone over night, in the morning the phone was off and cant charge or open please advice

  • I have rooted it thinking i can move apps to SD card but there was no chance. No i'm looking to it in the hope i can do something... I have tried with more apps, too. My single chance is you will help me.

  • Androit system eat 3 GB + google drive etc ... yu have less den 1 GB ... A:-(

  • originally had a Samsung xcover1, bought excover2 as an upgrade (both off eBay unlocked), i already assumed there was going to be apps i wouldn't use on it so not a problem so installed a reasonable maintenance app (360) and run it often, moved everything i could storage wise to external card, mainly installed apps that sat on the external card, bought after market 2450mAh batteries as from experience with xcover1 the Samsung battery can be almost half that of aftermarket capacity ones... fore warned fore armed as it was... now the reasons i use this phone.. i wanted a fairly simple phone i can change batteries on, make calls, take pictures/video, was weather resistant and ran GPS apps.. this is what this does (for me) very well... I use a gps app called "maverick" that is excellent for my bush-walking/hiking and it uses the two GPS and GLONASS systems at once so in the majority of open areas i get up to 14+sat and in most of the city and gully/canyon areas hardly less than 2, being able to change batteries is good as running the GPS chews power so i swap out batteries and recharge flat ones separately off a power bank/solar on long multi day walks or simply carry 2 extra high capacity batteries for a 1 day walk... in essence i use it more as a gps (60%) and less as a mobile, as others have said its not a fancy, bling phone that is good to show off to others but its fairly good to take outdoors in all weathers..

  • I have this phone for two years .and for price i paid it it's best phone i ever had .durable and reiable .it has few flaws ;charger plug fell of after two months those are crap and it wont save to memory card (default memory must be phone) but everything else never faild me. Sometimes when im drunk i smash it for fun when my freinds ask what is that phone .totaly worth every penny.Next phone i get will be xcover3 hope that phone is a worthy successor.

  • not enough memory to install basic apps. to much pre installed apps

  • After 3 years from purchasing this p of s it is near useless because numerous program fails. It won't let me answer calls, it works only with loudspeaker on, GPS is very slow, alarm clock adds and removes repeat days by itself....only torch is ok, at least I can walk my dog in mornings. Factory reset is done about 10 times.....nothing helps, and I have only 3 small downloaded applications installed from Google Play.

  • it means that Your wifi username or password is incorrect

  • Wrong username and/or password

  • Crap fone.Cant move any data to ext sd card.Right now it says contacts being updated ,so cant use it to call, put in airtime etc.How do I stop this

  • Why when I try to log into wi fi do I keep getting "authentication error"? and what does that mean?

  • Worst phone ever. Hate it more every day. Memory is terrible.

  • Extreme good flashlight, good battery (up to 4,5 day!). Not bad camera. Really waterproof but phone case can open on the side when hit ground then isn't waterproof! Low internal memory (~800 Mb) and no option do install apps on SD card, lot of shitty apps installed, using a lot of RAM (600-700 Mb) without running apps! Frozen screens and suspending is typical. Screen is not scrath resistant.

  • i have a problem with my phone. on my calls my voice is barely audible while the person i talk to can be heared perfectly fine. what might be the problem?

  • This Xcover 2 is good for peaple who realy need a phone not for the people who want to show everybody what cool phone I have... My Xcover 2 fall so many times, take some water few times and steal work whith no problem, I do not want a phone that I must be carefull every minute not to fall, not to scratch or if it splash with a litle water must cha ge the phone. Camera is very good for 5 megapixeli 1 G Ram is enough but the only thing that I bothering me is the memory Rom only 1 G and you cant update to many aps but if you use the memory only for the things that you realy need and use you will find out that you have enogh memory. For me is a verry good phone and I recomanded to peapole who do not want a fansy phone. Possible i will by the new model Xcover 3 evan if is no big diference only plus I see is 8G Rom but I will inform after and i hope that is the same quality as these oane.

  • hi everyone I have a problem, im using Samsung s7710 X cover 2. all my incoming calls are showing unknown.so I wanted to know that what should I do so that it can show all my incoming calls identities?

  • - IP67 certified - dust tight and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins) this is reason that i buy this phone and it is work so far he was in bucket of liquid for cleaning airconditioners 30 min he was working forgoten 1 hour on heavy norway rain and he was still working i dont know how many time i drop on floor rock ..... he is still working i didnt notice big problems whit wirelles and i i often sleeping in motel hotels problems whit this phone is starting when you overload phone whit free app when i figure that i keep only skype compass and some navigation i dont use app for lamp i use default phone buton + phone working fine realy durable and robust phone for ppl who working or spending much time outdoor this is not fancy phone i hope on next edition they will fix battery life on atleastr 2 days on 3g and give you option to remove all unnecessary app also my cover on usb connection broke up after 3 years that they need to solve probbaly will buy next generation

  • Its a useles n flustratin fon ever from samsung 1gb ram. Am very disapoonted cnt evn wait fo x3

  • worst phone i have ever had logs of the network shows signal but can't use the phone this is the second one provided by vodafone still no better poor phone or poor network vodafone customer for over 20 years but very little help with regards to the phones very poor performance

  • please I need the housing of this phone.i really like the phone but I hav a problem with my housing

  • Yes, free memory is *really* that scarce. Asides from the smallish 4 GB Mem, 1 GB RAM specification, Samsung has overloaded the phone with lots of bloatware and you can't install apps on the SD Card with the stock firmware. Had to switch to Cyanogen almost immediately. Now it's a rather sensible rugged phone.

  • You cant

  • The internal storage on this phone is actually quite limited. If there is not enough internal memory free, then apps like the gallery won't open. First make sure that all your pictures and music are on your SD card "External storage". There is a setting in the camera that lets you choose external storage as the place to store new photos. If after moving all your data to external storage you still need more room on internal storage then you need to start uninstalling or disabling unused apps.

  • Does anyone know anything about the memory capacity on this phone? I have a 32G SD card in my phone at present and the phone still says I have insuffient memory. The phone only has 80 photos on it and 4 songs therefore the issue with the memory doesnt seem correct. I find the online user manual extremely unhelpful as well.

  • ENGLEZĂ How to move applications the internal memory to external card ... I tried various applications but not work. if I can help thank yu...

  • Good afternoon! I have a Samsung S7710 Galaxy Xcover 2, and sound of alarms and notifications, do'nt work. What can I do? Thanks for you reply

  • Yep, because the rest takes system

  • Had this phone now for a couple of years, great robust phone but internall memory really poor

  • i heard so much about fallen usb cover,my galaxy xcover(1)'s usb cover still like new one after 1year and 9 months and i think till the phone will gonna die.

  • is a lie. The internal memory is too small . not even up to 1 gigabyte and u you are saying is 4 gigabyte.

  • I have ordered a galaxy's xcover 2 and I see a lot of negative comments about this phone .

  • I bought my cellphone at samsung store in Costanera Center in Chile. After a couple of months the charger input cover broke. On the other hand before that the cellphone resisited a couple of heavy falls. After the cover broke it took 3 more months for the charger plug in to stop working. I went to Chile and got Samsung to accept the warantee and they gave a new one. I have been extra carefull but the charger plug in broke again after only 3 months of using it. Design failure or materials failure? Now i am looking without luck to get a nfc charger... nice phone but crapy charger plug in...

  • how strong is the screw at the back cover?,because my galaxy xcover(1),can be unlocked with fingertips,no coins and nail required

  • my Xcover2. .it's being dropped on concrete, tiles and has fallen in to a kitchen sink full of sudsey water, the toilet twice-and still works perfectly. But.....the memory is shocking...and the charge door snapped off within 2 months. I remedied that with superglue applied with a cotton bud..and is in perfect working order..but I do like it..

  • its not bad phone but have memory is to lowwwwwwww

  • This is a shit phone. Won't let me download any app. 'Insufficient stoage' I only have 2 other apps. As much as I throw it off the wall, it just won't f*****g break.

  • Samsung galaxy xcover 3 is coming

  • it is a bad phone, bad ram, bad sound, not water resistant

  • Samsung galaxy xcover 2 is excellent

  • Samsung galaxy xcover 2 is excellent

  • i have first samsung galaxy xcover and i wait for xcover 3 or lg g4 s6 z4 and m9

  • Too bad for you. Got mine new for 150EUR. You can get more memory if you root it and use Link2SD app. If you are not brutal with those covers, they wont fall off, mine are holding for around half a year now and everything seems to be fine. For 500 USD you should have rather gone for Caterpillar. I was on tight budget, so 150EUR and this phone still seems to be a bargain deal and would buy again and would reccomend to tech-aware person. For average end-user who dont know how to root and how to SD-CARD everything this phone is a trap though.

  • i have a samsung galaxy x cover 2 and i need to forward the calls to it onto my iphone 5s but it just wont have it! I have set it up as per instructions but it just keeps saying that the phone i am ringing is not available, (i am ringing from another phone of course) any ideas anyone? thanks in advance

  • 1 gb of memory for user is a disaster. Is not supose that a user have to be a programer to use it properly. Additional the lock for charger and headphones have low quality about usage.

  • bought mine Jan14 $500. Charge cover gone in two month. Will happen to yours, so, no longer waterproof. 1G memory can't hold mine 6-8 critical apps and don't let us use the external SD card for that purpose. Many unused or bad factory/google apps can't be uninstalled to make room. At least camera app allows U to use external SD to keep immages, not enough. Very slow CPU. One lock episode per week. ON/off button solves. My opinion: it sucks for this price.

  • Got a customer with an Xcover 2 his Internal memory is only 1 GB he bought it here original and everything.. What wrong any thoughts?

  • let it charge!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have a Xcover 2 when i power it on it shows the name then it blanks out an repeat the same thing over an over again. an when it try to master reset it,it shows the android then it just turns off an an turn on then off again an repeat the same process over an over til i remove the battery. What do i do?

  • I have a Xcover 2 when i power it on it shows the name then it blanks out an repeat the same thing over an over again. an when it try to master reset it,it shows the android then it just turns off an an turn on then off again an repeat the same process over an over til i remove the battery. What do i do?

  • yeah, exactly the same thing with my xcover 2

  • I would suggest to stay away. Bloatware included with the phone will take all of its 1GB space within a month, so no updates can be downloaded anymore, and no apps installed. Phone is slow as hell. Battery life is about 10h of light usage with 3G/WIFI on, so rather standard. The device is marketed as a 'tough phone'. It is resistant to falling, surviving falls which would break any other phone. That's about it. The charging socket and audio jack covers had fallen off after 4 month of usage, mind you not ripped off. Just fallen off due to regular use. With those covers gone, the phone is no longer waterproof. Charging socket had to be replaced once, and it needs another replacement now, so the phone is in the drawer. When I asked it to be repaired under warranty I was told I will have to pay for shipping and repairs myself. FU Samsung.

  • I have a Samsung xcover2 and I want to if it can fit with a gear dit 2.

  • Is there an widget Active Applications similar to mini 3

  • I already posted how I did it: 1) you have to root it. 2) Create, lets say, 5Gb ext2 (or ext3 or ext4) partition on your SD card. 3) Install Link2SD, buy full version. 4) after installing any app, fire Link2SD, clik on app and click CREATE LINK button. Voila, app FULLY moved to SD ! Your only limit is size of that SD card and that ext2 partition.

  • yes you are right this is the best phone i ever have too. if you know how to use it u will feel the same.

  • Were you able to find a solution?

  • Ho do you load and operate the app and what will it do?

  • How do you ungimp it?

  • Im having the same problem were you able to fix it?

  • Worst phone I'be ever had. Once FB and twitter are on it you pretty much hqve zero memory. ..take a few pics amd that's you full. It is jammed with useless apps you will never use amd can't delete. Total garbage phone for calls also. In a word...shite.

  • Same problem. Sd card. Picture and video is ok but i cant download a game , aplication nothing because lack of memory. I change 3 sd card but same problem. I cant believe this brand have a problem like this. I can buy 3 lower brands whit better quality .

  • Due to limited / unbelievably little memory, this brand new phone does not recognize the memory card. According to what I've read, it is a common problem. How can it be sold if this is the case? Surely there has to be a solution????

  • I wouldn't buy it. I got the XCover S5690, can take a hit but soooo slow and after a short while the battery gave up. After a full charge it will do 13 hours on standby or 2 minutes with WIFI on... :( bad choice. What use is a strong on the outside telephone while the battery is weak???

  • Gor this phone to replace my broken XperiaV. This is really good phone only if you: 1) root it 2) use link2SD app THE PROPER WAY. I tells you, this is superior phone that has been gimped out by manufactured and its up to smart user to ungimp it.

  • This phone is on the brink of useless. Reception is horrible (I have a Nokia E52 as a work phone on the same network for comparison), and battery life is just almost non-existent. The point of a rugged phone is to carry it to the outskirts - but here you'll run out of juice within a day or two. Add to that that it doesn't have enough integrated storage to be able to update apps - and no feature to use the external SD for that purpose. And Samsung? I have no idea how they became market leaders when they do notoriously rejects any ask for help... Buy a S3 or newer and a shitload of batteries in stead!

  • I like this phone, but am a bit disappointed by their onboard memory of 4 gigs and 1 gig RAM. Can one replace that with bigger memory?

  • the quality of this phone is bad. this expected more from this phone. the usb cover has felt off. mask is peeling no matter that it was in the protective case. very disapointing. and after when i got upgraded an operation system, it keeps blocking, and it performs slower.

  • no mhl :-(

  • Hi man, you throwed it on the wall, it cracked the display, but still works... what did you do? Please, thanks for the answer.

  • this could be a very good phone by the hardware, but the android OS makes it pretty much un-usable. the OS is so full of bugs and errors that it is difficult to fathom, the experience of using this OS is so painful that it is really miraculous that it still keeps selling. tl;dr: good hardware, bad software, would not recommend this phone to anyone

  • Just broke it! Almost. Last week I threw it against a pasteboard wall - it dug a hole that big and still worked, today it wasn't that lucky and the screen went- but guess what - it still works even with cracked screen!

  • Follow the advice earlier on in the posts and root. There's a downloadable app pacifically for the phone from what appears to be an honest website, then partition the SD card using "minitool"; also free to download (the second partition needs to be set as ext2), then install link2sd app and it will then install to an SD card and pre-installed apps can be linked. Still a little worried about the space though as its going down over time on the internal memory. Only 290mbs left!

  • Takes a beating, but has little memory. The lack of memory and the fact that you can't use external storage for storing apps drives me absolutely crazy. Every day error messages about to little storage. But yeah, takes a beating.

  • You can't it would seem. Disable mobile data and use wifi for downloading, keep it on when your at home and most things will be done then; and use mobile data only when you need it. There in the drop down menu at the top of the home page!

  • So you can only store apps on the internal memory?! ...I'm concerned if it does work that way then that's the same as my old GT B2710 waterproof feature phone and its certainly all going to be used soon, as there's only 1gb available on purchase!! Bad points: The backs flimsy not rugged or robust, and I've seen it on other Samsungs, it literally snaps on and off! The fancy looking stainless steel lock is almost completely a façade!! Good points: But it is waterproof and looks good in red and black and everything runs very nicely on it so far!

  • Samsung says this is a craftsman's phone and doesn't need memory, which is just a poor excuse. They could allow partial storage of apps on microSD, other phones do. I use Clean Master and have OK memory usage even with quite a few apps, but keep running out anyway. Being water resistant makes the Xcover2 good for biking with e.g. ViewRanger, which uses practically no memory dormant and 28MB running, but then after Facebook and its Messenger have nabbed 55+24 there's not much left for CameraPRO, and then you can't see the pictures you've taken. It was on the Kit-Kat list, which was supposed make better use of the space, but that hasn't materialised. New phone after just 15 months isn't on the cards. Why don't they fix it? A similarly specced Symbian Belle Nokia could blow this out of the sky, if it had a better browser... 4GB internal memory should have been a thing of the past in the Android world years ago!!

  • I too had problems with memory, uninstalled everything and still couldn't update Chrome any more. Lost my patience and solved the problem by rooting and installing RootAppDelete and Link2SD apps (WARNING - AT YOUR OWN RISK - THIS VOIDS WARRANTY AND MAY BRICK THE PHONE - DON'T BLAME ME IF IT HAPPENS!) RootAppDelete lets you delete the apps that come with the phone - e.g. Flipboard and such (careful not to delete anything tightly integrated with the operating system). Link2SD moves most your apps to the SD card, freeing space for updates/new ones. You need to have some computer skills and access to a PC, as it involves formatting your SD card 1/2 FAT32 and 1/2 Ext2 in order for Link2SD to work. You can achieve this with Minitool or Paragon partition software.

  • how can i send some application in sdcard??? and why samsung lock the sdcard so is impossible to put there new aplications???

  • And your point is?

  • how do u make stop to eat your airtime when you are not using it?

  • i have the xcover s5690 and I wait for xcover 3

  • I have new memory card and I cant connect to perform well with the phone to get more available space

  • Does this phone has a light that keeps on flashing if you missed a call or received an sms or whats app. Tried to change setting bur can not seem to find them.

  • I have an issue, when i receive a text from a person, I open the text, underneath their name the number that is shown suddenly has a letter in front of the number. For example N+44**********, so when I try to send my reply to the message it says number invalid obviously. This only happens to the same contact. I have checked the contact in my contact list, and no letter is there. It has become annoying having to go back and compose a new message every time. Has anyone heard of this problem? Or have a solution?

  • this phone is crap, i bought it last week and it keeps on losing track of my sim card, : "please insert simcard blablabla..." while the sim card is still in it, in a perfect shape... other problem, the touch screen is crap, maybe because its thicker than other models, anyway it doesnt detect my fingers or whatever a tried to use to make it react so i've got to turn it off and back on everytime to fix the problems. also the stupid fact that u cannot delete the ton a useless apps stored on it is the cherry on the cake. this phone is shit, i'm sending it right back to the seller... samsung is a deception, again.

  • Really good phone. Super fast and hard as a rock! To be fully satisfied you should root it, install a custom rom and use external SD card (as the most phones/tablets out there). The I/O performance is amazing! Using link2sd it links all installed applications for a second or less (using class4 sd card)

  • 1 Gb of 4 Gb is free. You can extend capacity by a MicroSD card.

  • I have only 2GB rom and 512 ram

  • I only have 1.08 Gb internal storage

  • i was given the same phone and have the same problem..what did i miss the spec sheet tell me a different story..any help ahead

  • Phone have only 350MB of memory too use.... All other mem is busy by sistem... Disaster for a brand like Samsung...

  • to stop the data being used up you need to disable the mobile data button ... swipe down from the top of your screen it should be one of the buttons that comes down switch on and off as required remembering that when you download apps remember to setup your updates to download only on wifi connections and know that the data button stops all features such as facebook whatsapp BBM etc from working it will only get calls and sms's

  • Before this i was using HTC Desire. When started this, i was dissapointed, that it did not react so quick. This is not really fast warking phone. But all the other ways its great

  • Nominally waterproof phone that can't take being run under a tap. Otherwise mediocre, but good battery life. Not sure the screen will ever look right again. It might be waterproof enough to take in the rain, but I wouldn't trust it beyond that. I liked the Xcover 2 until the water incident, but I specifically picked it because it was waterproof, and compromised on features in order to get that waterproof capability. To find that it doesn't work as promised means I just have a kind of lame compromise phone now, with a screen that may never look good again. It's a real pity, because I have Samsung's B2100, and it is completely, OMG waterproof. Accidentally ran it through the clothes washer: no problem. I'm disappointed that Samsung's quality seems to be so variable.

  • Is there a way remove/stop certain features such as unwanted DATA!! Urgent

  • Too many words to be honest

  • Did you check Your baterry cover or other plugs if thay are closed properly?

  • Open camera-go to settings mark-slide to option STORAGE check if it says Memory card.If it is not, select Memory card and after that pictures and videos will be saved on microsd card. To open memory card-go to menu-go to My files folder-select all files-select extSdCard-that is micro sd.

  • I have water problem... did any one else have the same problem??? I send it back and am wating for an answer if thay replace or not...

  • Worst phone ever! Slow as hell, memory is total crap. No apps installed and allways full. Micro USB cover fell of. Dont buy this crap, and if possible, stay away from any crappy android phone. I won't even recommend android phone to my worst enemy. Oh, and did I mention that the battery is crap? And that the phone is full of bloatware that you can't delete? Root my ass, android makes me sick and vomit. Can't think of any phone, that i need to spend several hours at computer rooting and cracking and partitioning just to make it usable for daily tasks! Don't forget, you only get to take 50 photos and upload 10 songs, when the memory is so full, the phone can not open the default gallery app. But lets not forget that this is the bautiful and open android. This means that i can spend countless hours installing crappy galery apps to find the one that works. Oh, and how cool is that I managed to delete my alarm clock? No need for that in android, because its open and you can root it and install some cyangoen mod or whatever crap you want, to make your phone more slower and less user friendlier. Worst phone ever combined with worst mobile os.

  • somebody help me please? how can i access to the memory card. i also cannot store pictures or videos into my memory card????

  • Yes,you can choose in the camera settings to save your pictures on the sd

  • I myself having that problem , have you found a way to excess the other memory , also did you manage to save applications on the external memory card ?

  • My. XCover 2. Has only. 1 Gb of internal memory. ! Is that suppose to be only that much of memory. , cause it say by specifications 4 Gb of internal memory. ! How can I fix this ! Other than that love the phone !

  • Can I save the taken photos on the SD card?

  • Sony Experia GO

  • Please refer to my posting above Steve

  • You might wanna try and go under setting, there is a shortcut there named "Developer Options" in there activate your Developer options and tick the box that says something about usb Debugging, and then scroll down and tick the box named for permissions to the sd card and your problem should be solved, if not, take it back to the retailer, then there must be a fault on the device it self

  • Have owned mine for almost 6months now. it has fell 3 times, and been dropped once by my kid but no scratch. The only drawback is the limited memory otherwise thubs up!!!!

  • If your screen cracked, you'll most likely get it replaced on warranty

  • lol

  • I Just got this phone, and have the following problems: Cant Install-move apps to SD.(Root doesnt works) Cant use Adapter micro USB B Male/Female. Most basic is my first problem. Any help would be valued

  • disappointed had the phone for 3 weeks screen cracked its not a robust phone

  • I don't know why you say this phone supports MHL, has anybody tried ??, I did, and could not.

  • The internal memory is 4GB but 3GB is reserved for the OS.

  • the first version had like 167mb, so be happy of what you have, learn to manage your memory usage

  • So you think facebuk is important >? think again..

  • The reception is superb. Better than the good old Nokia 6310i. The voice clarity is clear and loud. Its the best phone i've used for phone calls...

  • u shold buy s3 case it is the best smart phone from all of these my experience is so good

  • Its a POS. It has 1g of storage, and every app (like mail, contacts, google search toolbar, samsung apps etc) is eating up that one gig. So you put up some basic apps like FB, navigation and god forbid a game, and you're completely out of space. The funny thing is, that even with 100MB remaining (of the 1gb of the 4+SD) it won't even let me see the photos i took, because there "isn't enough ram". Thats like having a car with a 200l fuel tank, but it will only let you drive with the first 10 then shut off. Useless smart phone.

  • S3nd me pics of modified s4 to [email protected]

  • There is a setting to answer using the home button and to hang up using the power button

  • I've been googling and found indications that Samsung phones have these feature. I downloaded the S7710 manual and found this on page 104 titled Accessibility: "Answering/ ending calls: The home key answers calls: Set the device to answer an incoming call when pressing the Home button. The power key ends calls: Set the device to end a call when pressing the Power button." I know I know RTFM.

  • If you wanna smartphone with fancy features, cool design and high performance then Galaxy S3 is better choice. However, toughness of Xcover2 is really impresive so if I you have a sloppy hands or just wanna use your phone as underwater hammer, you should choose Xcover2

  • THE INTERNAL MEMORY IS NOT 4GB IT'S 1GB! I know Samsung quote it as 4gb but that is just a scam. Pretty shocking. The internal storage space available to the user is 1gb. Rooting doesnt help. Is is possible for gsmarena to update the specs? Or at least add a comment. It's only fair people should be know

  • Hi... I´m close to change my phone. I´ve been thinking between XCover 2 or Galaxy S3? Would you give me your opinion? Thank you...

  • Can incoming phone call be answered/denied/muted with hardware keys?

  • I've been using Samsung B2710 dumbphone for over two year and decided that I'll try a waterproof smartphone. I got used Motorola Defy+ and the longer I used it the more I missed my old phone. After a month I sold Defy. One of the reasons was the lack of buttons and cumbersome position of power button. I'm glad this phone has many buttons and I was wandering if hardware buttons can be used to answer/decline/silence an incoming phone call? It could be pretty annoying being stuck with a ringing phone just because I wear gloves that aren't fancy enough for a smart phone.

  • Info is missing the colour black red.

  • for unroot user is not good for gaming, cause of its small rom. but for root user, can be useful for gaming. not bad result on gaming. i have tried the nova 3 and call of duty and the amazing spider man, it runs perfect. no lag found. only asphalt 7 or up can't run smoothly because the micro sd run slow...

  • For games The same as Galaxy S2

  • Is s7710 x-cover 2 good for games? I don't think is it same as, for example s4, only is it usable in that way? Thanks.

  • yes it can display spanish

  • I want to know if this can be in spanish

  • well, xperia active has the worst battery a smartphone can have, and it's really hard to use it if you are texting person, other than that the phone is super good.

  • 2.5 rounded upwards.... :) So far no replacement found that beats my 2.5 years old Xperia Active. Want small screen, lots of memory, waterproof, android, tough. Any good ideas?

  • Ok, well I am one of those mf....s that try 20 phones per year, this year is my year of rugged phones and I am on my last... xcover 2. I get to try, insmat, AMG rock 5, Seals. CAT 15, cat 10, sony xperia Go, and others but Xcover is better than all of them, best processor, screen and even if it is not that rugged it works.

  • NOT WATER PROOF!!! I fell in w/phone in my pocket. Disassembled to check for water...inside was SOAKING WET!!! Only reason I purchased this model was the 'water proof' feature.

  • Heh. Hard to believe the Xperia Active could be three years old, when it was only released late '11. But fair point :-)

  • Bought it, had it for a month and was glad to be able to return it. Now back to my 3 year old xperia active wondering what to do next. As the old x-active is way better than the xcover2, sticking to the x-active for a while seems a viable option... Samsung: allow apps to be moved to sd!!!!!

  • usb / charging flip simply fell of after 4 months of use...(had similar problem with old samsung B2100. going to take it to the shop next week to see if warranty covers that.

  • This is not a gameing phone or any special app palyer. this phone is for work. it is water proof

  • This is not a gamer toy ! Which kind of app can fill 1GB so fast ? I have 36 apps taking 460MB.

  • How many apps have you got on it?

  • Don't buy you'll go mad with the shit of low storage please dont

  • what will be recomended the x cover 2 or the samsung galaxy s3 mini?

  • Got an XCover2 for my birthday, 2 weeks later it fell from a table and the screen broke, not really shock proof... Warranty does no cover this and so far i have been unable to find a replacement screen. I now have a dust proof paperweight.

  • Paid for 4gb memory, but got 1gb. You can't put apps on a micro sd card, so useless as a smartphone.

  • Internal memory only bro D: i have one and it is not 4 GB it is 1.08

  • nice phone but why be dishonest with people about having 4GB when there is none

  • Can any one tell me if you can move apps to the SD card or can it only be installed on the internal memory of the phone

  • Cheers mate, I'll buy one next week! Regards, Paulster

  • Its even better. Has extra russian GPS : GLONASS If you install iGo My Way or Navigon you can have Off Line GPS without even need for GSM network.

  • Does the xcover2 have 'normal' gps or does it only have a-gps? I need to be able to use gps abroad and do not want to pay expensive net-usage costs for gps. Regards, Paulster

  • Hello, can someone explain me about this (4 gb) of internal storage memory I bought the movile but I can´t see it, just the 1 gb of RAM Thanks

  • im looking at getting this phone next atm i have a xcover one which only has a shitty 60mb of memory for the user and doesn't let u move files to the sd card either but i love it it is pretty much unbreakable ive thrown it dropped it from 2 stories high, hit the slopes with it used it as a hockey puck and its still alive cant wait to see how tuff the xcover 2 is

  • Hi, I have done this. I have changed the look of the Smasung Galaxy S4 to make it look identical to the Xcover 2. I've also altered the specifications to match those of the Xcover 2. The size has also been altered accordingly. I will sell you two of them for £1000.

  • Too low of internal memory, not able to move apps to SD card, no USB mass storage capability. Otherwise quite good phone. I hate Samsung for crippling such HW with their shitty firmware.

  • I love the design.. can anyone please do the same on Samsung S4? i'll definitely by one for me and one my brother :)

  • The phone uses normal sim!

  • The memory problem is a serious achilles heel on an otherwise neat, if not speedy, phone. The issue needs to be addressed because it really does limit the number of useful apps you can have, AND you get irritating messages like "no room for more photos" or something like that - and photos can be stored on the External SDcard. My kid's new Nokia Lumia 520 WindowsPhone 8 device beats it hands down in the photo department though - as long as I don't need flash, that is.

  • Where is the manuals ?

  • Great phone but Manuals no good

  • PLEASE BE INFORMED official specification forget to tell you that YOU HAVE LESS THAT 1 Go AVAILABLE(800Mo to be exact) when taking the phone "out-of-the-box". Moreover, since SAMSUNG(unlike HTC,...) forbids usage of "move to SD", this phone become very quickly useless as a smartphone since you can not install apps or keep history of your activity (mails, attachements, web, apps data,...). This phone could have been very interesting but this cruel lack of memory is ruining it all. disapointed.

  • Ok!!.. nt v.nice .. wtb proseser ?!

  • how long the battery lasts?

  • 300$ vs 700$ you still don't understand?

  • Love it but where can I get this baby

  • I've had mine for a few days now. I think it is a wonderful phone so far except for one flaw. Everything is good except for the internal storage. 4GB is advertised but only 1GB is available to the user, this limits the number of apps you can put on it without rooting. Jelly bean does not allow apps to be moved to the SD card.

  • very smart decision: Galaxy Xcover 2 = 300 $ Sony Xperia ZR = 700 $ Ahahahhhaaha :))) no more comment...

  • adieu xcover 2, im n0w l0nging for xperia zr

  • can anyone tell me when this phone will be released in INDIA ??waiting for it since last 3 months !

  • For user only 1G storage. Not possible to install apps to SD card.

  • please release this sammy here in the philippines, im torn between xcover 2 and lenovo p770

  • It's a resistent phone but the batery is very short

  • Phone is very good only battery could last a little longer

  • When is this phone launching in the UK? I definitely want to order this phone but found out that its still no released in the UK market

  • Extrem torture test with Samsung Xcover 2: And extreme test by teenagers:

  • As I search on internet I find that it got on the screen the scratch-destruction resistant " AGC Dragontrail " which is better than Gorilla Glass! The source is official Samsung Suomi YouTube channel:

  • @ Tech-9 Since when do you have the phone? Do you have the "Battery saver" on? Thanks

  • Wait until first scratch And display is very poor tft. Angle view is awful Plastic's edge colors already is disappearing O wait for it 100%charge 5min play with it 5-6%gone and then normally draining battery even then battery is dying too fast with 3g. 3g+ google navi. Is suicide

  • I have this phone for some time now and its THE BEST! I voted 10 for Design, 10 for Features and 10 for Performance! For the money I payed for is BEST BUY!

  • I'm waiting for this, at India

  • when available in India or launching in India?

  • Important: The sony acro s is certified ip57, the xcover2 is IP67. it's more resistant.

  • what country did buy it? what country is this available?

  • when on Indonesia.launching ?

  • More or less here. Planning to root it to Cyanogen, once it gets a decent port. My very first smartphone, so far quite pleased.

  • here you can got 6 screen protector

  • I got this phone. Don't understand what people are so negative. The screen is good, battery is good compared to other smartphones i have own, and it is very decent overall. Have tested the water resistance and it's working like a charm. The only downside i have this far is a little internal memory but besides that this seems pretty solid. So overall it is a 8/10 for me.

  • Screen is very weak 1 week and got first scratch Cannot find screen protector so i had to buy universal and cut it myself Screen is low budget and bad quality of view Only "+" is that feeling when holding is so satisfying very very low end phone 1,08gb hdd after updates = around 500 available

  • Try the Sony Xperia Z

  • please tell sammy to release this in the philippines and kindly remind me when

  • Can anyone post the link to buy this phone in America???????

  • Had this phone for one month now, not impressed. This phone doesn't even have support for cabled headset, and maybe the worst no LED notifications! The camera button is very slow, you have to press it hard for at least two seconds. Trat like you hate it... Right!

  • Y not rugged phone with dualsim, will be perfect for travellers.

  • Mine only has 1.08gb internal storage.. Very strange, I need at least 3gb of internal on a phone. I have contacted samsung to hear what they say.

  • Everything seems perfect.. the internal memory could hav been more, and gorilla glass should hav been used.. but still its perfect for me.. i love the rugged look... and the size is perfect for outdoor use, not too big that it's uncomfortable in pocket, not too small either. The physical keys are both an advantage and a disadvantage... but overall, seems like a pretty solid phone. will definitely buy it as soon as it launches in India.

  • ofc if you use ur phone for smithing.

  • Question: How much free memory the phone has left the user? Specifications, was written 4 Gb, but the system takes a lot space.

  • Scratch resistant my a.. One week at work, as a blacksmith, and already made the first scratch in the screen.

  • ya sure. Give them your address. It'll be delivered tomorrow.

  • So then why u shouting here

  • dear buy a galaxy note 8

  • why don,t the phones come with some sort of operating instructions? for older people who have never used one before?

  • Who told u samsung ace duos is first dust and water proof phone. Go through the specification of ace duos then comment.

  • Looks good to me. When will this be available in India ?

  • when do i get Galaxy Xcover 2 in Bangladesh Market ?

  • Real First dust and water proof smartphone samsung galaxy ace duos s6802 not sony.

  • I suggest samsung to make dualsim for this

  • guys where I bu

  • When will this bastard appear in Philippine market?

  • hey, not sony, Motorola only launched water, and dust prrofe phones for the first

  • But which Wperia should i prefer ??... guys ...!!

  • you can't compare xperia Go to this phone. Xperia Go was released last year, but this unit is new. Samsung just keeps on copying innovations from other company. Sony is the first Mover when it comes in Water proof, dust proof specs

  • Xcover a.k.a Nokia 3310 lol ? ..Well at least good bricks for throwing at someone else..should equipped it with corning or aluminum unibody..bhahaha

  • Samsung understand pretty well what users want. A beefy battery with a good performance and an all- in-all great package are what most users want in a single smartphone, and Samsung are doing their best to give us that. GO Samsung GOOOO!!!!

  • Well unless anything better comes along like a Defy 2 or something that has, then I think i may replace my Defy+ with this.

  • what is its gpu and chipsets?

  • I think you should wait for Umi X2 lauching in april end. that has exactly the specs you asked for.

  • At that price i rather add some more and go for xperia V. It's well worth it with HD display, LTE, dualcore Krait and removable battery. And if i needed a phone to keep in the backsack then a cheap Go or Defy+, or why not Xperia Active.

  • my requirement very simple, 5" display+full HD+13 meg of camera+battery last longer+ s pen if possible. CAK

  • If you match Xcover 2 against Go, then.... Xcover - Larger screen (more ppi too, but reflective for some reason), Jelly Bean out-of-box, A-GPS+Glonass, bigger battery (user changeable), more RAM and better Bluetooth support and dedicated camera button Go - Screen is better (only contrast ratio is lower, all else is better), smaller, Bravia engine and wet finger tracking. Based on reviews, for me it comes to this: screen size. Anything larger than medium sized fingers and 3,5 inches will feel really cramped.

  • Also missing LTE ?

  • So i want better Features for the next Xcover. :) And i want a Solar Panel on the back to be a real outdoor handy.

  • i think the xperia go looks better than this, the only thing that the xcover has over the go is a front facing camera and touchwizz but those aren't deal breakers for me, i have had an experia go for about two moths now, i have mistreated it and havent had a problem, it was a replacement for my previous phone a SGS3 who's motherboard died two months after i purchased it

  • Well it sucks in India too. I have given my Xperia Pro in August 2012, still waiting for the handset. I think companies like these shoudl be banned. Or may be this is the kind of support they provide for '3rd world countries'... Don't know for sure...

  • No Gorilla glass lol

  • Seriously... Take it from me, the Xperia Go sucks! So is the service of Sony (maybe just here in the Philippines). Since I bought my Xperia Go last Nov I only used it for less than a month til today, because it spends much of its time at the service center since it drowned on a kiddie pool which is less than a knee deep mid Nov. I hope this one won't fail me.

  • Xperia go has a smaller screen, lower quality GPU and CPU, old gingerbread, no secondary camera. I like this Samsung better, more features, more power. I think you can change battery with a "bigger" one, kinda 2000 - 2300 maybe, remains to check this. Also a crash test should be done with all this devices ... sony, samsung and others, to see in reality how tough they are. Maybe somebody will do such a test, just let it go down from 2m and see if he survive. Also a removable protection for camera (like N95, N98) should be build in the case ... for better protection, but wasn't the case. Ehh, let's see how will do in the near future. Hope will be OK.

  • It's a good device specifically that supports jelly bean

  • m-m-m... Where? I've checked in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Poland, Chez and Nederlands. Everywehere you can preorder the phone. They expect it to be in stock on 1-7 March.

  • Sony xperia go is better than this. It is also ip67 rated. Better looking(the important). Trust me.

  • It means the glass cant be scratched and gorila glass is the strongest glass possible for a phone

  • Does this handset have noice cancellation technology ? and the battery seems to be of low power...!

  • you should check your facts! Galaxy Xcover 2 Has been available in northen europe, for about an week. Period. :D

  • Actually this has been available for around a week or over in Northern Europe and some places else too.

  • It was Xcover 5690 :) Xcover 7710 is not avialable yet.

  • O my God! Samsung please say that is not truth. look little in sony way. Thay have IP 57 standart but much better specifications. Please repaire that!!!

  • I ordered this phone a few days ago, i am looking forward receiving it, price in the netherlands is 229 euro

  • Where did you find the information about 20 Feb. ? Is this an official info?

  • Waiting for it in Russia. I like this design with hardware buttons. Hope to have it soon.

  • I have thought of switching from sony to samsung, because this kind of phone would bee good for me. How ever I think the ui in samsung phones looks quite boring compared to sony or htc(not ment to offend anyone)so is there any possibility to change the ui to bit more polished lookig without rooting it and voiding the warranty?

  • when will it available in India? dream phone, waiting for it. any guess about pricing in India?

  • wow,it does removable battery,im hope it will be launch in Malaysia

  • What means "Scratch-resistant glass" at specs? Gorilla Glass or something tripe? Any info?

  • What means "Scratch-resistant glass" at specs? Gorilla Glass or something tripe? Any info?

  • I wish Samsung would build their flagship devices as durable as something like this or atleast half as much while retaining the style.

  • I am using Samsung C3322 for quite some time, and i am pretty much satisfied.. I have never used any touch mobile yet.. I am a lot interested to buy this XCover 2 once it is released.. The ruggedness along with some good, high specs (to some extent) make me interested.. I hope that some accidental drop on surface wont do any damage to the phone.. Will this phone be launched in India?..

  • itz a allrounder phone.... i'm glad to see itz specifications..... may be it my next phone......

  • If you don't like the design you can always get an S3 mini

  • Please don't suck. Please. There has to be a decent mid-range phone like this with good survivability and battery life.

  • I work outdoors and this is the best idea yet man.

  • Totally agree and hope it comes to Canada.

  • samsung fanatic----waiting for the release and price of it.......hoping for the fair price.... kindly advice for the release date. ty.

  • if samsung would try to make their waterproof smartphones less rugged and more simple looking i would really buy one

  • Ugly shape like galaxy mini.

  • thx for all info. i just want to make sure and advice.

  • Xcover is very ugly. Sony makes the most beautiful and best phones.

  • You are right, but the Acro S was announced as a high-end device, this one is a mid-range device.

  • xperia acro S is better than this wierd looking phone

  • The Galaxy Xcover 2 is a little bit expensive. It should be around 250 Euro.

  • sony should came up with something like this! A higher resolution, ram, n bttry. Xperia acro s is xpensive n xperia go is lower specs.

  • Oh lol sorry, anyway the acro s was a high end phone but now it's a mid ranger, just look at the price group for the two, it's the same. If the GS4 is waterproof then it will kill the xperia z but I doubt it.

  • It's Acro not Arco. It's really annoying seeing people writing Arco instead of Acro. Anyway, the Xcover 2 is a mid-end device, and maybe the Galaxy S4 will be waterproof as well.

  • So you're a Sony fanboy then.

  • I forgot to add the Arco s has NFC and a larger amount of internal storage and it still has a micro SD slot- there is no reason to fat the xcover unless you're a Samsung fan boy.

  • PEOPLE!!! Don't compare this with the xperia go!- the go is a low end phone, this is a mid ranger. Instead compare this with the xperia arco s which is practically the same price, it's also water proof, looks a hell of a lot better, has a way better chipset, better screen and better cameras, it also matches or beats the galaxy xcover in everything else. Seriously, Samsung's phones are way overpriced these days.

  • No GPU??

  • This has physical buttons! All physical buttons! I love this phone

  • Sony is late in hi end phone party. While this is already late for a swimming party. This fone is in between go and acro s..

  • Gorilla Glass is just a brand, this phone has scratch resistant glass which should be comparable to the former. Btw: as some people said, this phone has better specs than Xperia Go, not just double the RAM, 2nd camera and Jelly Bean, it also has a larger screen with way more pixels. But that doesn't mean it's a bad phone. The Xperia Go is very sturdy, the Xcover 2 should be as resistant. Endurance tests should come when the phone gets available for sale.

  • The Sony Xperia GO has 512 mb ram the xcover 2 has 1gb ram, and ti support jelly bean, and has second camera bro no where close to Xperia go

  • why are you comparing samsung galaxy xcover 2 with xperia go? 1gb ram vs 512mb ram? less lag vs very laggy

  • wow!!!the model is like awesome!!! the specs r quite good, but they should have given it with a 8mp camera,cz now most of the mobiles with similar specs have a greater camera.anyways,i loved it overall. :D

  • May give good perfomance but design sucks too bad look

  • need compare with xperia go. because have same few spec. must be try with real xtreme test first. we can know it.

  • Must be compare with Sony Xperia go. have same spec. need real extreme test. btw S7710 not use gorilla glass ?

  • whoa what a unique design !!! not that its good or something........ its just different :-\

  • Any chance of Samsung making a dual sim version of the XCover 2 - i would definitely buy it.

  • i like the design

  • why they don't release this kinda phone to india????????

  • Sexyiíi thats it.

  • wow an android handset of samsung in lowest price ever it"s to good i just like this

  • So the rumors were real. Now, if they announced this phone now, what they will announce at MWC, because we know they will be there! :)

  • this or s3 mini?

  • it is not only about what is resistant to , so if you compare between your xperia active features and this phone features you will see that your experia is just a piece of junk and you SONY is a loser

  • Is this phone does removable battery? Because there is special lock to secure battery

  • i bought my aging Sony Ericsson Xperia Active a year ago with exact specification (android 4.0.4) too late for Samsung on this category. even there is no competitor for Sony Acro S on Samsung Phone, on Rugged phone Sony is absolute Winner.

  • sp s iv surely water proof !!
