V800 is Vodafone version of Z800. Main difference is color of the phone. The other differecne is the software - V800 is with the Vodafone software and has DRM on ringtones :-( Otherwise they are exactly the same.

as i can see, there are still few who can't figure out how to play music on their v800. hope this helps. 1. go to this site and download 'drm packager 1.35' whichever suites your computer. 2. install it on your computer and open it. 3. you will see 3 buttons. click add then click the all the music you want to put onto your phone. 4. click ok and click create drm. 5. locate the drm folder. usually it appears where the original music file is located. 6. open the drm folder and copy the drm protected file to your phone or directly to your mp3 folder on your memory stick. you can now play it on your phone smoothly. if you have anymore question, don't hesitate to email me. [email protected] by the way, i have used the vodafone version but i had already had it upgraded to z800 which is exactly the same but without the vodafone restrictions.

i only did the master reset to my phone and everything went fine. i can play all the mp3 music on my phone without the drm protection. try that and if it still doesn't work, then message me, i'm glad to help. :) [email protected]

this phone survived everything i put it through. drops, throws, spills. it took two years of heavy damage before its speakers stopped working. If I could get another one, I definitely would.

i've dropped mine on the concrete too. Several times! and its still ok. im still using it. had it for 4 years since it first came out.

Had this phone since 2006 I think, and have been very reluctant to give it up. This phone has been through some bad situations, and is still going strong. These include being dropped in a sink filled with water, drop on concrete heaps(due to work), and just normal wear and tear. Very sturdy, very strong, and it goes like a champ, even tho it looks abused.

To All, Those who get frustrated with not being able to set mp3 as ringtones or play them, Download the DRM packager from the SE website (developer tools)& install it on your PC, after that select the mp3 file you want with add & then click on create DRM content, afterwhich drag the new DRM file from the DRM folder (usually located in your desktop) to your phone or memory stick & see what happens...enjoy :-)

to use mp3 as ringtones, it must have a drm protecton key, supposidly to protect copyright BUT there is a way round... there is a piece of software from sony ericsson developers that will put the drm protection key onto any of your mp3's... follow this link download 'DRM Packager 1.35 - Windows' or for mac. follow instructions from there.Easy enough and works a treat!

Hi, Just been given an V800 from my Dad. I have inserted my old sim card in the phone and it says please insert correct sim card. Apparently the unit only works with specific sim cards. What are they? In addition to the above, I would like to download some of my mp3's stored on my PC to my phone. My Dad; however, didn't send me the disk which you have to install. i had this phone for about 8 months. and then it died. well, it dropped a few times so maybe that was it. but still.. it is not that good. i like the features tho. 3g calling, good internet connection, good picture qualities, etc. but you have to take out the memory card from the back to put it in the pc which makes the back cover lose.

hey im having sum problems with the external screen. i close the phone but the outside screen doesnt turn on. i noticed that the screen turns on when there is a magnet near the right screw. i opened the phone to see if any wire was loose but all the wires r fine. so if u noe wuts going on u can email me or write another post. thnx

Wicked phone, but the hinge is quite weak. Mine is repaired already once after 2 years. The SE camera is never disappointing, unlike Nokia. Though this camera is only 1.3mpx but it could produce better quality photos than 2mpx Nokia. In terms of size, it might be too chunky but I don't mind. Personnally I prefer this model to K800. But only K800's screen resolution is way much better. And because of the rolling camera I could use the proper camera for video calling than the second camera on K800, which is typically inferior to the main camera.

The V800 is awesome. Stylish design, feels solid, well made. The menues are great, easy to navigate through. Supports 2gig memory stick and you can save your pictures and vids straight to memory stick. Plays mp3's no probs, easy to setup playlist's. I really like the rotating lens, great idea. The camera is capable of taking pretty nice pictures but it needs to be under the right lighting conditions. It has a really bright flashlight/torch. As for communication, had no real probs with reception, video call, mms, sms etc Overall i'm very happy with this phone.

A bit of Comparison... Hi, I own a Toshiba 803T, Samsung 707SC, and a Sony Ericsson V800 (flashed to Z800i). By far the Sony is most troublesome of the three phones operated with accounts of T-Mobile and Cingular in the USA. Sony has constant problems locking onto a GSM carrier signal, and phone calls are erratic in 4 cities I use it in, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. Toshiba 803T works fine as does Samsung 707SC in all GSM calls. (Keep in mind that 3G in the USA is still on 1900 and cannot be used at this time for any 3G phone from the rest of the world) Toshiba 803T PRO: Extremely Reliable, Great reception for 1900GSM in USA, Music Player with front keys is intuitive and sound is nice from dual stereo speakers on front cover, TXT/SMS and MMS work fine and very nice display. Battery Life is best among the 3 phones. 1GB MiniSD has lots of storage. It is factory unlocked so it's open for other carriers with Vodafone OS intact. No hacks needed. It can play (ironically) most like a real Walkman Music Player, and handles calls well. Flexible customization of graphics, WAP and MMS settings etc. Great Video playback in 3GP format and can even output to a TV. CONS: Bulky, MP3 PC software is a bit tricky if you don�t read directions carefully (stress carefully). May need a compatible SIM card. Some older SIM cards have issues so you will need a newer SIM. Modern 3G compatible USIM card from TMOBILE and CINGULAR works fine and can be swapped easily from your dealer for about $15. Won't set MP3 as ring tone, you need to convert it to AMR or MIDI and install it separately from MP3 Play lists. Samsung 707SC Pros: thin, nicer colors, reliable. Best all around performer and equal or better than Motorola RAZR which it seems to have been modeled after. Nothing excels in numbers but everything just WORKS! Cons: PC software is limited, and keys are thin and takes getting used to, battery life short if you play with games (then again, it s a trade off for very thin phone with a large bright screen). Internet is locked to VODAFONE LIVE and cannot be set to other WAP (meaning no MMS and GPRS outside of Vodafone accounts) Sony Z800i Pro: Awesome music player, useful tools, neat design and nice camera with really bright LED torchlight/flash. OS intuitive and PC Synch loads fast and supports 2GB OEM Sony Memory Sticks. Media Player by far the most compliant with different codec. Video and music playback is excellent both from speakers and earphones, though not as intuitive as Toshiba. Cons: Very erratic as a phone, at least in GSM 1900 band under all conditions full to no bar (A serious issue if this is primarily a PHONE for you, no?), OS is a bit slow and finicky with frequent lock-up if you haste through menus quickly. For a phone with medium screen size and 900ma battery, life seems a bit short even with 3G off and good GSM reception range, but plenty of chargers on the market. Verdict: Toshiba 803T if you are heavy caller, or music enthusiast and need something totally reliable with long battery life. Samsung 707SH if you need things to be thin and colorful. Sony Ericsson V800/Z800i if you own a PS3, PSP and other devices with Memory Stick AND your phone performance is secondary to great looks and gadget count. I won't say which is best as everyone has different priorities. I love Sony products and I won many of thier equipment, but they seemed to have missed something with the V800 as I can't call it wonderful like my PS3, PSP, ES Recievers and WEGA TV. What's up? hey y'all olks out there! problem with your signal? whether your signal is dropping to zero as you closes the cover or any other problem about your signal. it's just about the ANTENA WIRE, it must have been broken, this one's very sensitive and brokes easily as you flip it close and open. you must replace it so you can have better reception. hope this helps.

It's a good phone. Mine was stolen recently. The phone get very slow when it access external memory. I had it with a sony memory stick pro-duo high speed 512MB but still it takes about 15 seconds to save a picture after taken with the camera and the camera sound cannot be turned off.

Hi, Not sure if you received help already but try this link, it worked for me.... Download the DRM Packager 1.35 for your operating system. Unzip and Install. Open Sony "Ericson DRM Packager" Click "Add" Select file to "convert" (i'm assuming it's an mp3 file) Click "Create DRM Content" It will create a folder called "DRM" - open it. It would have created a file of type:- "Forward-locked or Combined delivery content file" Send this file to your phone.... Hope this helps Regards

i think the drm is the protection files of the music. Like the asf and asx. it has a drm protection. whats the main difference of having an upgraded v800 to z800 than the original z800?! my brother told me that even if you upgraded the firmware still you cant use the mp3 as a riinging tone. he had 3 of this v800 upgraded firmware to z800. about the signal, he just fixed it by buying an antenna wire and replacing it. hope it helps!

hi i have just sent my v800 away to get fixed for the secound time it is weak in fact very weak in the hinges and i have coddled this phone compared to the violent use of my k700i i would not recomend this phone for males this is the sort of phone you keep in a protective case in a perse but how ever amazed at the updates and cool stuff able to be downloaded free to this device the reception was also faulty but the worst thing were the hinges an expencive phone bulky and yet only a slight step up from the k700i

I am in Ghana and have used the V800 for sometime now. Unfortunately, the camera and the video functions have failed to work completely. I need this functions badly. Tried as I could to get it repaired it has failed both here in Ghanan and the U.K. I just like this phone so well that its part of me because of the features. I've had this phone for aaaages now and had to have it replaced twice during it's contract life time. After a few months the buttons stop responding when you press them - it cuts out even with full signal, I phone people and they pick up but they can't hear me talk, I get calls and it won't let me answer them. I've gone from thinking this handset was the bees knees to hating it.

one last thing for ppl who intend to get their phones flashed, after u have flashed it all ur voda message and wap settings will be wiped out, so in order to restore the voda settings, just go to voda's website under the help section for SE V800, and rerequest configuration msg from voda, and everything shud be fine. When flashed it last year this wasnt avaiable, and I just took the configuration for another SE model available, which also worked. Also remember to back up other stuff u want to keep.

read so many complaints about this phone. but basically from my experience all problems come with the voda firmware. once u get the SE Z800 firmware, everything will be fine, the mp3 issue (no rdm packer needed), the reception issue (reception is good, whereas with voda firmware no or poor signal), the battery life issue (under the SE firmware, switch off the 3G reception and only use GSM if u dun need the 3G functions, it doubles battery life.i listen to mp3,make calls and play games at the same time, still last at least two days). I had my fone changed twice by vodafone, which was useless. But after I flashed the Z800 firmware and added 512mb duo stick the fone is just wonderful, consider to add it to max 1GB, coz i got too many mp3 and games. the only disappointment is u cant listen mp3 using bluetooth headset, but also wasn able under voda firmware, nvm. Hope that's gonna help some of the frustrated ppl here. gd luck

yea, u can do that, just flash it with the sony Z800 firmware, i did it rite away last year when the Z800 came out. the phone works much better with the sony ericsson software, more reliable and much faster, and it becomes true quickshare, and all mp3s work as ringtone. The voda software is a pain to use.

I had this fone for bout 2 months, the same thing happen to me, the reception. See, i'm in full coverage area, both GSM and 3G, but it seems that i cant get any of those, sometimes... Even if i'm downloading something, the 3g signal would disappeared! freaky! and the download go very slow... T_T

i have this phone for 7 months now. My phone has problems on both screens since i first get it. The main screen inside will b blur sometimes and only display a white screen with nth. The outer/ smaller screen is in completely blue. It will go back to normal display after a few flips sometimes but this time it is still all-white in the main screen. Anyone know what is the problem? I think somethng is loose inside the phone but not sure. Fyi, the phone is totally working. i still can receive call and make call by pressing number, jz cant see anything in the screen. I have had this phone for almost a year now and it had been working perfectly until now. I am encountering the "no network" issue that some of you have written about. Now I ran by some sites and I found that one person had the coax cable replaced part no:RPM113357. enough! for the last time hir are the answers to your queries!!!!!! u cant plat mp3 if u have the jap. firmware only the euro firmware would allow you but that's that! you can't use it as a ringtone! the drm packager does not work with this phone! and about the signal, yes its one of the main problems that this phonme has and it is really happenning!!!!! the battery life is poor considering that this is a 3g phone! the keypad structure also sucks!

Hey I had this phone for a month or so, then I returned it to Vodafone, basically because t had a very poor signal performenace, most of the time it was out of the network in an area of full coverage, an Simens A52 did not have any problem at all! Software update did not help. It is bigger than it seems. Oh and by the way the camera is rather bad with poorlight performance.

i have had a v800 for about 3 months. i thin k its a great phone but i have found that being a flip phone it is not as sturdy as other phones i have had e.g p900,p910,w800i. the v800 is one of the best 3g phones available with everything from a media player to memory stick (up to 2gb) support for holding all those mp3's. the only thing is the price. at �250+ it could be out of budget for some people.

I ordered a SE V800 and i keep hearing about updating the Firmware from SE website to the Z800 to increase performance and other features. What is the down side of doing this? you must convert your *.mp3 musics with "Mp3 Player Drm Packager" to a *.DM file. After you convert it, will apear a subfolder called DRM in the folder were you have the mp3 music that you want as ringtone. Then you must copy that *.DM file to your phone. The phone plays the DM files as ringtones and not *.mp3 files.

ive just come off the phone talking to sony ericsson customer support, i asked about this drm key missing ( basically you cant use mp3 as ringtones), SE said Vodafone has caused this problem, they have not added this to their software in the phone and that there is no way to correct it. You must have the "Sony-Ericsson v800 Mp3 Player Drm Packager". You can find it in any peer to peer program or send me a email and i�ll send it to you. With this program you convert you mp3 music in a dm file, and then you can play it like a ringtone for example.

I'm quite disappointed with this model. I was hoping for more, but looks like it's just a cheap model made for vodafone, the processor is okay and so is the menu design, but construction is rather delicate, screws go right into plastic, no metal, flip is highly sensitive, looks like something made on the run with no testing whatsoever. Very much unlike sonyericsson. So for now I'll just stick to my latest favourite, S700, until the P990 is in ;)

The camera loses to a Nokia 7610 the keypad is lousy i got problems with 3,6,9 and # the MP3 player tells u system error and the MP3 player just switches off.The camera flash if u use it as a flash light which i do is quite useless oso...It turns off after 15mins and the light isnt 1 bit bright at all battery life is gd display is alright external display medicore.It isnt that great would give it a 4/10.

I just got this phone today and everything is great but I've been having problem with the reception... It varies from 4/5 bars to 'No Network' from time to time. My previous Nokia 6610 had better reception than this. I'm using it on T-mobile in US and I've read that someone had the same problem as this too. Yeah, Awesome phone. but I also am a bit disappointed in the fact that the speaker is on the other flipside so the sound is very soft when u try to watch movies, and also when you have the phone on the couch with the speaker on the downside, you wont hear it ringing. and the DRM key also concerns me, as for the rest, I have no complaints! also cool that I can use my Mem stick for a Psp! that was it.

I bought mine and had it upgraded to Z800 firmware and it's amazing.. doesnt drop any calls.. battery life is amazing.. camera is awesome.. i use mine as an mp3 player and it even shows the songs you listen to on the outside display as well as being able to turn up/down or play/pause or switch songs.. it also looks really cool.. such an awesome retrolook.. not to mention the rotating camera not found on many 3g phones.. worth buying

I just bought this phone brand new 2 weeks ago. The phone powers up fine and everything. However, when making calls, the phone drops connection every 1-3 seconds. Sometimes, when standby modes (not making calls) the phone would show "no access to network". Tried to get it fixed at local phone shop. They said internal antenna component is defective and this model of phone is infamous for this particular problem. They showed me a chinese phone discussion forum and all the posts about this problem for this particular phone. They also told me they can't fix it. Has anyone encounter this problem? Where did you get it fixed?

Musa: You are right, that it can happen that when the phone is open the signal is full and when it's closed the signal drops. I had the same problem in the UK, Vodafone replaced it for me, you can't do much about it. Regarding Picture caller ID, if you update the firmware available on the Sony Ericsson website, you will start to get Picture caller ID. hope this helps Ateen

This phone is awful i got it and kept it only for 2 weeks it only has 7mb of memory that enough for 2 songs so i have to go out and buy a memory card, its also huge like a brick i know its 3g but there are much smaller phones now. But considering my wife hasnt video called once with her 3g phone that she has had for a while. I think im going to sell this in an online auction and buy the much more suitable k750i, considering i dont want to leave sony ericsson and i take pictures more than i use 3g.

just reading these reviews made me want to post this. i was a devout nokia user until i got this phone. it's amazing. i use it to take files into work, mp3 player (didn't have to get an i-pod but did have to buy a bigger memory stick) and camera, both photo and video. i was hoping a phone like this would come out for ages and here it is. the volume levels are just right - was sick of buying mp3 player that player at too low a volume. it's a great phone! :)

Even though this mobile has won many awards I am really disappointed and quite sorry that I wasted so much money for such a mobile. Unfortunately during this last year I noticed that the sound of the ringing tones is really low. Lately I also had a problem with the reception since I have a hardware fault in the ribbon. Anyone knows if there is a service centre in the UK? Also, if I manage to order the part I need from abroad that would be much better since I could get it fixed in my home country.

For people who have problems with the sound volume: If there is any problem then the software is accountable.Go for an update Oh,thre is an exception:If you use snap files(mmf)the ringing volume is always the same.Snap(mmf)files are made from yamaha only for Siemens phones. When you are listening to a ringtone(midi,amr)you can increaze the volume using the keys on the left side of the phone.

To add MP3s to your storage card(not ringtones, just to listen to): When your phone is connected, windows creates a removable disk drive. In there are folders (mp3 etc) Copy the mp3s over. THEN DISCONNECT THE PHONE FROM YOUR COMPUTER. You will see them then.

For a phone that has apparently won awards I have to say since purchasing a pay as you go V800 I am not totally impressed. Message alert tones are rubbish and you cannot add any other tones. When trying to download music videos they download breaking up and either fail before completely downloaded or when completed do not save to phone. I would appreciate knowing if anybody else has experienced this problem if so what was done about it or even if you experienced no problems at all at downloading music videos.

Nice to look at...the screen is nice and large. Now for the annoyances...the ringtone volume changes at will, the hinge unit is fragile, it doesn't hang up properly when closed, it chews it's battery, and just recently has taken to resetting itself at will...I've had it for 9 months and it's the most fragile phone I've had in 5 years.

Hello everybody, If you're willing to buy one of these Sony Ericsson V800 phones, this review might give you some ideas about what you will get. I've been using the phone for the last 8 months and I'm totaly happy about the phone. One of the most positive points about the phone is its speakers volume. The speakers volume is adjustable between 1 and 8. I've been using it on vol. 3 and it's loud enough to hear even if you're in a busy road. I can set any MP3 or WMA as a ringtone or alarm. The momory sick has a nice position as you won't need to swich the phone off to take it out. The scren is amazing. The 1.3 megapixels camera makes the phone a real digital camera. Note that If you get the phone with contract like Vodafone, they've block MP3s so that you have the only option of using thier service to download and pay. The solution is simple. There is a software called "DRM packager" which allows you to use MP3s as ringtone and alarm. I've tried and it works perfect. I've had Nokia 6610, 8210, 5210, 6600, Samsung E710, Sharp GX10, GX30, Sony Ericsson P900 and Samsung D500 so far and I've never felt so comfotable as I do with V800. Thanks Sony Ericsson for this great design.

SOBO: Ok,you are right,there is some delay.I don't know what happens in other phones(but in Sharp's there is more delay).At list I'm happy coz it is faster than my old K700. GRANT:There is only a MP3/MP4/3gp media player,no WMV.Also there are hundreds of programs in the web that help you to convert from wmv to 3gp(I use the "Xilisoft video converter")If you want some videos try www.ZoeZoZo.it

GRANT: Yes,it is possible and easy to transfer mp3 files or any other file to memory stick.Connect your phone with your PC using the USB cable.Windows will recognize the memory stick as an external hard disc(look at "my computer" menu in your PC).Then by using the "paste" and "copy" way you will move to your memory stick all the data you want. I'm not sure if this works with Windows 98 but certainly it is possible with newer Windows editions.

SOBO: There is no software problem with the MP3.This is just the policy of Vodafone and it is common in every Vodafone live device that you can not use Mp3 files as ringtones unless they are DRM protected. Also, there is no serious delay in the menu when you store pictures.You'd better try some other megapixel phones to see what delay means(in v800 it takes only 3-4 seconds to store a 1.3 megapixel photo). According to my mind this phone is very good.

To Timmy: I'm sure your phone had some problem. I have this phone and every function works perfectly. Camera is really good, though it has lower definition than K750i (1.3Mpxl vs 2.0Mpxl) you can take sharp and colourful photos and if you print them in normal size it's really hard to distinguish them from from any other taken with a digital camera. Of course if you want a larger print the pixels are not enough, but you can't expect this from a phone. About all the bugs you are talking about, actually there is olny one and very little: If you are writing a message you can't write a word with T9 if it has symbols between letters (for example P.Smith which has a dot between P and S) or the phone will restart and delete completely the message you were writing. The solution is simply press the "OK" button after the dangerous symbol (P."OK"Smith) as for select a word from T9 purposes. The phone is really good, many applications and exellent mp3 player with good sound. You can also use it as a torch!(Very useful!)

Hi, I had this phone hence HAD! I has so many probs with it that i sent it back and they put the Sony Ericsson Z800i software on it. This was still no good! the phone would say "no access to network" or just search for network till the battery died! About the battery, had to charge it every night! and to top it all off the camera is complete RUBBISH!! Go for the Samsung Z500 if you are wanting an AWESOME 3G Phone. These are a total waste of time.

@ Geegee: I have this phone and i can say for sure that you can't use mp3 as ringtones unless they have a DRM key. I never discovered where you can find mp3 with DRM key. Anyway you can regiser the song with the phone and then you will be able to use it as a ringtone. I know that it's not the same but the only alternative is to buy another phone with no restrictions...

@ AJM: Delete some files and make space on memory. Then connect to vodafone live! and download again the song for free from the section "download problems" If you have enough memory and the connection is strong enough you should have no more problems.

i want to tell u about this phone. i bought it today and i think it is the coolest phone. has good batery, good camera, really good mp3 quality. the most genius thing about it is that: when u have a magnet near the phone the intern disply turns off and the ext display goes on. it's for protection. it's like u have a magnet near the monitor.

my video is quite jumpy on this model compared to my e1000.so how is the film on one of your 1gb cards annonymous.I to am using 1gb from mobymemory.com who check that the size of card really works with the phone.Mine came in a luminous green see thru plastic from sandisk.the more you put on the longer it takes to open but thats normal.The v800 cant have speedy proccessor or its low framerate

I've problems with my V800, sometimes the screen is very unclear. Sometimes the icons are also reflected in mirror picture and are very vaguely. I've been told that there is a firmware update aivalable for this problem, but until now I have'nt found one. Does someone knows where I can download the right firmware update? It does play WAV!!(up to a bitrate)But it does not play WMA. Anyway,WAV is a stupit forma(needs too much memory and is the same as a MP3) and MP3 is much more common than WMA

I have to back up point made by chris, the phone does switch off if you are trying to text and you press 112, i think the phone is a really good handset, i like the MP3 player (but it doesnt play wma or wav files which is disappointing) i dont know if anyone else has noticed? if you are playing a file there is no way of fast forwarding or rewinding, let me down a little, the phone has 3g capabilities so gives a very fast download speed, you dont get that on some newer phones, the camera i do think it could do with being sharper to say you can video call, it can leave the other person looking "bitty", but then again it was one of the first video calling phones, it is good quality when you think you get everything you need in one device (ie you dont need a cradle like one nokia i can think of), i think like many others that sony ericsson are definatley heading in the right direction, i look forward to upgrading but i think i will wait for the next SE video call phone. long live SE

got this sat at argos �199 in sale. Catalogue sale number 547/1115.did my usual first charge and did back to back video playing and got 6hrs 10 mins which is great.in my house its only 2g but 1 mile away is 3g.first impressions were good and continue,im using 1gb pro duo out of my k750i and all my vids and mp3s stored on it work great but the themes dont.This unit is decievingly lite at 6 grams less than motos v635 wich was on my list.i use stopwatch a lot and was even more elated when this had one.theres so much to do and ive only had an hour on voda live and heres my next suprise-the unit lets you download the videos unlike three its takes longer obviously but they are blocky free not like the unwatchable junk of2.5g.wat im saying is you can get the 3g quality video on 2.5g download super or wat.Also getting most stuff free for first month,the screen is crisp with variable backlite and vids and mp3s are fast forward and rewindable,ive never had this before on a fone.time to stop but its the best phone ive had in years,got k750i,mpx220,6630,e1000 on three,p900 and gx30 and o2x3 and spv500 and this fone id rather have its full of entertainment and got buisnessy stuff to.

That is not true Chris!!I txt 112 or 119 and nothing happened! FOR ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN THAT PHONE here is a short review(I'm using it 3 months) 1st:Battary is superb!No other 3G handset has such a battary 2nd:Signal is great!!This device has an excellent gsm receiver and also the best 3G signal in the world!! 3rd:Very easy in use 4th:The screen is one of the best(Not as good as in Sharp,but still is one of the best) 5th:Camera is not great but is good.if K750 takes 10 to 10 in camera,V800 takes 7 to 10.That is because indoor pictures has noise.But the colours in general are very good.Camera is also rather sharp! 6th:The device is very compact,the flip durable and the quality very high(price is also high!!)

A good phone but i have knowticed a couple of bugs in the software/hardware... when near a speaker the main screen turns off and the outer screen comes on... confused me for a while then relised it musta been the magnetics.... also txting... if you try to txt 112 through to 119 the phone shuts down and restarts after about 30 seconds

My bleedin V802 is on its merry frickin way back to hong kong (good riddins!!) and is going to have the Z800i (australian software) put on to it. Ive been told that this is a good combination. And i think that the battery is good for a 3G phone. Don't but this phone a a V802SE!! get the V800 or the V802 with the Z800i S/W. and this phone maxes out at 1G.

In my memorystick there is a MP3 folder,but you can put MP3's in any folder you like. Anyway,I have never seen the message"files are not drm protected".If a file is not drm protected,you can listen to it but you just can't use it as a ringtone. This is common for all vodafone live devices. Are you sure this is a V800?Maybe it is a 802SE(Japan version which not allow you,as the white paper says,to listen to not drm protected mp3 files).You better contact with SonyEricsson servise in your country.

Hi JB, This is still not working. where do i put the .DM file?? im putting it in sounds and it has a little memorystick with a sound sign and a little key over it.when i click it to open it is still says that the sound is not DRM protected. Well,open the program;click "file"(on the upper left side)and select "add files".Then, select the MP3 or WAV files you whant.Click again on the"file"and select "create drm content".A message saying that files are now protected appears.The protected files that are now "*dm" files are stored in a DRM file which is automatically created.Copy the *.dm files to your memory card using the USB cable.Then you can set this files as ringtones.

In order to check what is going on,I sent the same mail to me.A barrier and an alert message from the security wall of the internet explorer appears.But,I click on the yellow place(which always appears at the same time whith that alert message on the upper part of my screen) and I open the archive.If I only knew where to find this program in the web!But I just have it because of an unknown friend,who sent it to me via an email.I have sent it to you again,good luck!

This phone is the root of evil right?!As far as I know,in general you can't send "exe" files via mail,that's why I changed "exe" to something else.I'll try again.Unforunately the program is quite big to send it to you via MMS!!(about 950kb)I hope next generation mobiles will support MMS up to 1Mb.

It�s big, it�s ugly (what�s with that speaker placed right in front?) and I really hate too mahy moving parts (rotating lenses). Can it play video fullscreen, anyway? The only thing good about it is the battery, wich rocks for a 3G handset.

Sorry,just forgot to write my name!!So,Sharp 902 is smaller lighter and more handsome?! That's a very interesting opinion!! Definately,design is a subjective matter, but Sharp 902 looks at list cheaper than V800(I say"looks"). For me the most annoying in Sharp is that there is not a slide show opsion.When you open a JPEG file you have to go back to the list,go to the next file,wait until the phone open the file...(it takes time!)and go back again for the next picture. If you want the DRM program in orger to set MP3 and WAV files as ringtones to your mobile(The same limitation appears also in Sharp),JUST SEND ME AN EMAIL.

Timmy:Didn't you see that phone before you deside to buy it?Didn't you see that phone in the shop?You definitely did!!So why are you grumble about the size of the phone??Anyway, that phone is one of the smaller 3G handsets and even if it is rather big it is very stylist!And what is you problem with the camera?If sometimes there is a lot of noise in the indoor shoots,you'd better activate night mode and slow down the lightness(up to -2)using the key in the left side of the phone.This will give you better resultsThen with your PC program(I'm using the ACD SYSTEMS) you can win the noise,if there is some.In the outdoor shoots don't use night mode and increase the lightness up to +2.The camera is good but is a CMOS not a CCD,so you have to play with the lightness.On the other hand,CCD cameras usually overdo with the lightness and the colours which is also a disadvantage.

Well, I finally got the phone, and it's awesome. I just love the way the lights are set up for the camera, and the user interface is good compared to the one on the Motorola RAZR v3. Only thing that bugs me is where the memory stick slot is. You'll have to open up the back in order for you to be able to stick the memory stick in. It's not a big deal though.

Anyway,I need some help.This phone can play Mp4 and 3gp video files.I have the Xilisoft video converter in order to convert videos from other forma to Mp4 or 3gp.3gp videos are low quality videos with pixalization ,so I prefer to convert my videos to Mp4.The quality is very good BUT the problem is that the picture is a bit slow while the sound runs regulary.So you understand...When I play this converted video files in other devices(iPaq or desktop PC there is no problem).In general V800 has no problem when plays original Mp4 files,only with those converted files.Do you know any other program to convert my video files in order to avoid this problem???

I said that I'm using this phone with a vodafone sim card and I have no problems.I have the latest software(RS15) and there is almost NO BUGS!!But in a conversation I had with SE customer service they told me that this phone is degigned to work in vodafone's network and that I might hane problems with an other sim card.They didn't say what kind of problems.If somebody want to use this phone with another sim card(not a vodafone one)he'd better buy SE Z800.The same phone but is not vodafone live.

possibly the worst phone i've ever had! Shame, because it has some great features (except having to download DRM just to be able to listen to MP3's as a ringtone, how pointless....) great battery life, very user friendly but had the phone replaced 3 times because it kept loosing network reception, in the end i got it replaced with a Samsung Z500.. highly recommended!!!

I've mentioned this before but you can assign mp3's as ringtones if you use a program call DRM packager to add a DRM to the mp3. It use to be a free download on the sony ericsson devolper website.

Hello, I'm having some trouble making video calls with this phone... First of all, whenever I make video calls, either the phone says 'currently there is no serice/network available', or the phone automatically cuts me off when dialing . I've made sure that I've indeed subscribed for 3G service with my local service provider, and have also changed my SIM card since they said that my old SIM card didn't support 3G. I have also made sure that the GSM/3G network feature is switched on on my phone.... Anyway, I really hope somebody could help me out since there's no point in having a phone that doesn't allow me to make 3G calls. Thanks so much in advance for any sort of assistance!

Frankly, it IS annoying that the V800 does not allow me to assign MP3 music to my contacts as a personal ringtone. "Protected" files only! That sux.. Anyway, does anyone know how to do something about this? Cheers!

that is not true!!!i have store a lot of mp3 files in my v800 that are 320kbps without any problem.there is no problem with mp3 files.you can't use thoose file as ringtones(the same is in all vodafone phones)but this is not problem.in general you should know that as the people from the se customer service told me,many problems may appear if the phone is not being used with a vodafone sim card.but if you are using a vodafone sim card you will have no problem(as i do!!)

haha.. it comes with no warranty because you buy not from the authorized dealer . In every country , there will be one or more distributors that will market and mark that phone as an original device. But if you buy from the shop that take that phone from Japan or maybe other countries that maybe realese that model earlier, there will be no warranty support. Only that shop will take the risk if anything happen to your hp. But if you are unlucky for example that shop close, u wont get anything. SonyEricsson wont repair your hp. So the conclusion is, buy with the warranty one.. Pss: actually i also bought this model without warranty because i love the keypad with japanese characters plus much more cheaper and nicer.. (special edition!!)

I am currently printing several sheets and found that out of all I have done so far, one being the V800 which I just bought two days ago, I have SE as the only one printed while the rest, some 5 other models are all Nokias, as I am searching for the right one for my wife soon, as her birthday gift. What I wanted to add here, as a result of comparing all the different specs set next to each other, I have noticed that the SE V800 should left out the Voice Command which is included too, it caught my eye after printing out the Nokias 6680,6681,6270,N70 and N90 models. Cool and catchy at first light when I walked past the Vodafone retail outlet a day B4 my birthday! This became my own blessed birthday gift I needed to replace the current T68i. It has UMTS which I was basically looking for and with the added feature of being charged only once (0.99 Eurocents) at any incoming call while abroad (within a UMTS operating country/location)as opposed to int'l rate subject to country for the routing and it goes by the horrendous minute scaring my bill and beefing the conversation to a near halt which isn't pleasant for the caller, for how should s/he knows that I'm out of the country? I like the flashlight feature and the weight gives added firmness, I hate those toy-like cellphones that feels more like plastics! I am still wondering how to let it stay on (being lighted up continuously) as I am constantly within power supply either in the car or once outside, I'm in home environment that's no longer than 5 hours hence, I'm never going to bother about running low on battery power. Rather than buying one off the shelf from another retail store charging almost 650 Euros, I'm now offered 25 monthly for a 2-year subscription contract and the first 3 months is a free gift plus a host of Vodafone options granted as well....a sure BARGAIN here!!! It acxtually will cost me only 525 Euros with a montly 200 minutes free calling time included as well and I have a terrific handphone that can be hung up and staying hands free from the bluetooth supported earset I use with the Jabra 250. a perfect and sleek match, GO FOR IT. - Greetz, CmyC5.

Cant get enough volume. Can hardly hear soundtrack on videos. To get handsfree you have to wait until call is in progress then press a button, select handsfree then confirm - far too long a process. Cant download MP3s off my computer. Everything else is fine apart from useless software supplied with it - no clear instructions about how youre supposed to use it.

Hi all, I love my v800 (on Vodafone) and can't fault it at all, i can listen to the mp3s fine on my h/s and have expanded the memory card so i can manage to fit the whole of my pink floyd back catalogue on it!!! I also transfer the files from it and to it with the bluetooth dongle in my computer and the picturee quality far suppases anything that i require 10/10 (as i've got the software to change my mp3s to compatible ringtones, 9/10 if i didn't)

Of course the 802SE purchased in Japan is locked to Vodafone KK only (Japan) You won't be able to use your 802SE with any other Vodafone SIM card other than that of Japan. You can unlock your 802SE. It's up to you to take the chance to unlock your 802SE. First you have to find someone that will unlock your 802SE (for a fee) and if you unlock it, your warranty with Vodafone Japan will be voided.

sorry but i totally disagree with the person below....i've had the v800 for a couple of weeks now...the bluetooth is excellent and the camera to....i also have the nokia 6230i and the camera on that even thought its 1.3 the same...the v800 comes out much clearer and better quality. also video quality is much better than the 6230i. so result is i'm keeping the v800 but getting rid of the 6230i, as i'm very disppointed with it.

i just bought the phone and i think its really cool phone, the problem starts with the memory card i bought a 1gb pro duo memory card, i have no problems with pictures but the problem happens when i try to drag mp3 onto it, it says parameter not found?but when i use normal memory card lesser memory no problem, anyone with the same problem, also i lost my disk and i cant connect is there any resources for the pc suite? thanks

I beleive Vodafone will recall 72,000 units (if I'm corrent on the quantity) of 902SH and 802SH for problems like mail sender's name is different, screen freeze during message or web operation, handset cannot be turned off, or power goes off unexpectedly, network optimization cannot be performed, other functions and communications are unstable. etc. (if you look at the Vodafone site it's there). So the problem is not the T-mobile SIM card, it's the software, they need to do an software upgrade on the units. I would suggest getting a prepaid phone. Japan does not have prepaid SIM type phone. You activate prepaid phe kits and buy prepaid cards. They are getting strict on prepaid phones due to fraudulent use. For foreigners you need passport or some kind of ID in order for them to sell you a prepaid kit. They only have certain types of prepaid phones. They don't have high end model like the 902/802 prepaid phones. Vodafone has V101D, J-D07, J-SA06, etc. types of phone.

One more thing Bunalex, I had a unlocked V802SE (I returned it to my friend in Japan) in Hawaii and was (trying to use) it with T-mobile service. But as I mentioned my handset was plagued with problem. I have two live Vodafone 902SH and 801SH with Japanese number, because my wife's parents are living in Japan and I use their address and payment are made by them so that's why I can own a Vodafone although I live in Hawaii. The great thing is every year I visit Japan I can use the Vodafone handset right away when I get off the plane!

Bunalex, I've had the Japanese V802SE for awhile and unfortunately I've had the worst experience with the phone... constantly locking up and couldn't make a phone call! Keys would lock-up and couldn't even power down with the "power" key on the handset. Another thing is that Vodafone KK will not activate your unlocked phone. You will have to open a plan when you get in Japan and buy their handset, otherwise they will not touch your phone. You will need a billing address in Japan and payment must be made in Japan in order to get plan with Vodafone. Other requirements are: if you don't have a picture ID: utility bills under your name, medical insurance card (Japanese one) under your name, etc. It's not easy to "just" activate a plan in Japan, If you're not going to live there for at least one year I would forget it and just get a prepaid handset. Good luck and have a safe trip!

Hi just one question, when you are having a videocall, what is the resolution on the camera, i it still 1,3 mp, or is it lower? And why is it that the V800 comes with a 32 mb stick and the Z800 comes with 64 mb, Here in Norway it is the same price, but you can get 32 mb more... You have to change the settings on the phone, you can have both 30 secs to "eternity" when shooting a film. Me and my friends made a movie this winter, it got to be 15 minutes long before I decided to shut it off. When in film-mode just push "more" on the lower right corner of the screen, there it is 5th from top of the menu smething like "recording time",

Only records video of about 30 seconds (disappointment...) the 902 can record up to 2 hours with a 1GB SD card. Also the 802SE I had was plagued with problem. Just lokcing up, can't even power down the unit with the power switch. After powering up, and after about 3 key-stroke the unit lockes up - can't even make a call. Vodafone units are full of problem, I'm not sure about the V800 and what type of software is being used.

V800 is a 3G phone, and it is using the 2100 band. If you put a prepaid simcard in the phone you will not be able to use it, because all 3G mobiles comes whitout AoC. ( advice of charge ) So if you have such a modern phone, then get a subscribtion that fits the phone...! Yes records video - see specifications.

Hi guys, I have V800 currently bought from Japan and our using it in in Fiji Islands in the South Pacific Islands, on Vodafone Fiji Network. It seems to pick up the network but c'nt seem to make/recieve calls or txt. HAve checked the barrings, all deactivated, set the network to GSM. Still unsuccessful. hi people! i have a doubt: about the size screen (phisically): in mobique.com v800 specification shows 2.2 inches size display; s700 specification shows 2.25 inches size display. a difference of 0.5 inch. taking look at the pics of the both phones, it�s visibilitly the s700 is bigger than v800 so far, and this difference is not just 0,5 inch, it's so much more! does anyone know the right s700 and v800 screen inch? have pics of them screens? tank you. 10inchesguy

I have the V800 and like it a lot. Like Gloomy, I bought a SanDisk 512mb memory stick duo and find that the V800 tells me that it is 'currently unavailable'. I can't save anything to it unlike the 32mb disk. I assume one can't read the other. Anyone know whether they can and if so is there an easy way of making it all work?

it wont lag if u play a 10 sec clip at 700bitrate however it will lag if u play a 30min at that bitrate. partly of the lag is also due to file is saved on memory stick instead of the phone. so get a gd sony memory stick instead of a lousier sandisk version. then i compressed a video to about 350bit rate (177x124) i can watch the whole of the 1hour naruto eposibe without any lag. also the color is gd and even tho the bitrate is lousier subtitles is still very much visible

Got one of these yesterday - Very impressed! Good cam, good menus (easy) great quality, big colourful screen, great sound, tons of functions - could not be happier, the memory is good too (32mb card plus x amount phone mb) only prob I've found so far is the DRM thing on mp3s that stops u playing downloaded music. other than that BUY IT - v nice phone!!

Got my V802 from HK last week(V800 unlocked&using Z800 software supposelly).It's Ok for the first few days but started to play up....No reception,calls often dropped,can't make call,fone is on but won't receive incoming calls..??camera not good like expected..??...etc... Very disapointed,the fone itself is great but only for Japan market and where 3G is popular&unlimited,I think we should wait for the Z800(unlocked&doesn't have Vodafone red logo on the casing+better camera's solution).For Alex: I've had same problem with the camera(????),do not try the master reset coz you might lose everything included putting itself back to theoriginal state of the fone(locked with Vodafone's Japan+the main screen will come back to Vodafone's display).Sent it back to my supplier&getting the SSung D500 instead.

Well, aren't you special. I also have a V802SE that can play mp3s, give me a cookie. I don't know or care about using the Z800 software on the V802 but I can tell you that the V802 Japan software will only allow "DRM'd" mp3s to play, in other words, not play at all. All is needed to remove this is just flash the phone with the Europe V800 software and it will work like a charm. I'm sure this DRM fiasco was all Vodaphone's doing. Probably fearing lawsuits or just wanting to simply make alot of cash being the only people that could sell sounds and tones for the V802. In any case, just flash the phone with EU software and you're all good.

I guess you people have alot of question. so here is go. I'm using MP3 ring tone on my v802 (Software upgrade as z800 software already). and yes i have problem using cable feeding data into computer because i instead a v802 cd into my computer, but you can use infred or bluetooth, and that work fine. the reason you can't use mp3 ringtone is because either your phone haven't been unlock (vodafone lock up the mp3 system so that you have to down load song from their website, you have to unlock it) I hear from people that the older unlock version can't use mp3 as ringtone, only the new method (instead z800 software) can do it. OR the MP3 formate is not really MP3 formate. the price of the phone in hk is around 4000. but it is droping so mybe it will get cheaper very soon.

Good fone..first 3G fone from SE/better pixels/has everything we expected from nowaday mobiles/reasonable price(HKD$4000 or USD$520)compare with what it offers,much cheaper than P900&910..In HK they have 2 models:1/ is Vodafone original fone(locks with Vodafone,has Vodafone's display on main screen)...2/ is called V802 is Simfree&has SE screen(you have to get a V800 and get it unlocked&cost around HKD$300)..the V802 is the go as Vodafone's Red+Grey display is ugly....Rate:8/10

As to Davidh issues, i just got a v800 yesterday, and it is using z800 sofeware. (then reason i know is because i was using infred and my zomputer the phone i connet is z800) of course sony will tell you they can't do it, this is because they have to protect them self. but street place should be able to do it. (by the way i got mine in HK, so i guess we are just little faster in changing phone system)

this fone aint that gud to b honest, got it 2 days ago and the camera dont have zoom, u need to have the smallest pic size/quality to get zoom and u have to dload mp3 from the vodafone site to use them as ringtones, u cant use ur own mp3s as ringtones.

okay on the web you are gonna have to search "sony ericsson DMR packager" download it, then run your mp3 files through it and it will give it the code that says it is a lega lmp3 then it can be used on the phone as a mp3 ringtone or mp3. the firmware you have to go to a store that does it or you have to buy the acsesoriies to do it, you need a T28 cable and then go to www.setool.net an find out how to upgrade, with the upgrade your v800 will be turned into the the z800 version. witht he upgrade you can have picture id on the outside screen and you can turn off the camera noise and there is no more voda branding it will be just like the z800.

To Anti Aaron, I have not made any mistake, if anything, i should have bought the v3 when it just was out. The mistake is the v800 dated looks, poor cam etc. i wont go on. Also if i was a 14 year old kid, how would i be able to afford a �500 V3? Ohh and how could I forget the light on the camera! It is both a faliure and genius. It makes the phone into a really quite good torch with the 6 LED's it lights up! However if you are trying to use the video call function at night it can prove a problem. The light is so bright that you cant see the screen at night... so it makes it impossible to see the other person making video calling with it on pointless. I wish there was an option to toggle 2 4 or 6 of the LED's as it would make it far more useful! Still a damn good feature as a torch on yer phone is great.

Having now had a V800 for a week or so thought I would make a comment... the camera on it is pretty good, I especially like the fact that the outer display is of a good enough quality that you can take pictures without having to ope it. As the camera also rotates there is no risk of it getting dirty or scratched when not in use. Having 3g speeds makes vodafone live actually vaguely useful now as well. Being able to check the cricket scores and news headlines for free quickly gives it a huge plus point in my book. My main complaint is that the browser for normal web browsing does not appear to have any ability to fix text to width. Which means if you want to read an article on a web page for example you have to scroll left and right to read each line. Have had one problem with the phone not making calls but unsure atm wether that was a network fault or software on the phone. IMO btw it is impossible to compare a V3 and a V800i... one is a phone the other a phone and mp3 player and web browser and video recorder. The V800i is a feature rich device that personally I quite like the look of. The V3 is a fashion victims phone. In fairness the people I know with V3's dont have any problems using them as handsets to make calls or text on but thats all they are really good for.

v3 runs on the same software the rest of the v series fones... with its reduced size, many people have found that its processing speed decreased in comparison to other v phones... and the camera is crap... v3 got crap all quality... if u like pixels and scrap all visiblity go for it..

I AM NOT BIG PIMPA OK, BUT I DO SHARE THE SAME VIEWS AS BIG PIMPA Now, some people think that the v3 is just a flat v600, well let me tell you from personal experience, the v3 is a lot better than its predecessor (V600), the fone is faster OS, the UI is better 2 and u can get a 3d phone book and the camera is 10 times better and clearer. The v800 (as i have said before is junk but, looks like my advice cannot change peoples mind so go on, make the miskake, go buy the v800, maybe you will learn from it later on. I was on a website looking at both The v800 and v3, the v800 got 7/10 the v3 got 9/10 so it really speaks for itself

Do not get this fone it so crappy, it is plastic junk and will break easy, the camera is poor, same quality as t610 cif camera. i suggest a moto v3 instead, genuine aircraft grade aluminium casing with copper ally plate keypad, with precision etched numbers done by lazers and a stuning slim jim design The camera of v3 is superior to this megapixel junk, moto v3s cam is crystal clear The v800 canot even play mp3s or mpeg4 video whereas the v3 does all of that. The v800 also looks like its been designed in the 70s and is really ugly and dated, go for the super slim sexy v3 You wont regret it!

@PIMPA "The phone shops really do look after you when you buy an expensive phone." only coz they are after your money u stupid twonk, LOL another thing is that, the V3 has limited vunctions, goin to video recording; the V3 = only does short video recordings, if any at all, (not had time to experience using one), if you are able to record, (if you can) you can only send 11 second clips through the 2.5G network. V800 = records, and records and records, until you run out of memory, then you can send the full clip via the 3G network. you can also video call, if you are replacing parts, say, if, the keypad breaks on the V800 its a quick, cheap fix, if it breaks on the V3 then you lose the phone, �350 into the canal, not much good, i personally see the V3 as a over sised beer mat, nice and flat, enough to keep the moisture off the table, not much else u can do with it. David, To honest, no not really, the camera in V800 is ok but as great as S700. Knowing that CCD is way better then CMOS(thou some CMOS could be better like from hi-end camera from Canon) so when you see a megapixel phone you should check out if it's a sensor CCD or CMOS and better yet, checking a real picture taken by it sometimes, as my real experiences,I found some CCD isn't as great as it would be (still mostly better than CMOS anyway)

@Pimpa Hey, Mr./Mrs. or whteva u r Pimpa, listen buddy, y not u spend couple of minutes in doing this: goto www.gsmarena.com, then in left menu click on Motorola, then on V3, then watch below the pic there wil b a link "Compare" (withot qotes), then click on it, then on right side click on "Sony Ericsson" (withot qotes) then click on "V800" (withot qotes) then open ur eyes and just hav a look at ringtones and camera, and also use ur fones memo carefully u knw, u hav only 5.5 Mb to play with. it might not coz u any prob coz 640*480 vga camera+24 channels wil help u alot to manage it. u c no 1.3 pixel camera, aa man it takes too much memo and no 72 channel stuff, ouch it also takes memo and also b careful while surfing coz ur mob support only 32-48kbps where as V800(which in ur opinion is ugly and etcetc) have data speed of ONLY 384kbps. Yes u r rite with such advanced and superb features V800 is UGLY and with no such features V3 rulz. plz wake up, it time to school. since, the v800 is on the 3g network its obvious monthly bills should be more expensive. IT's obvious the v3 is cheaper than the v800 and any phone of this class. Must be a genius to put a vga camera and throw in 5mb memory, not. That v600 does that and does was like a year ago. Altough I don't have a v800, but I doubt the "1.3megapixel, expandable memory, 3g technology" are cheaper than the limited "v3". Don't need rocket science to figure it out

Alex, it would take a while to get used to it just dont give up so fast dude ;) trust me it's not that bad. And in order to set a mp3 files as ringtone,perhaps you should try to put the files ontofolder \MSSEMC\Media files\audio\ringtones in your MS and then go to "My Item" in the main menu on the phone and head to "Sound" and supposedly you should see the mp3 files and then press on "more" and use> ringtone dont get this wrong I am not talking about Media menu if you do as I said it should be fine, otherwise, post it again in here I would try my best to help.

I've just got this phone through an upgrade, I'm just debating whether i like it or not, the black casing is ok but it does get dirty easily. One of the main problems I'm having is using an mp3 as a ringtone,I downloaded one onto my phone from my computer, but it won't let me set it as a ringtone, am I doing something wrong/is there anyway to do this? Still geting used to the phone, I do like the look of the S700i though, might get that instead if I don't get used to this phone.

Carol,I might not be able to tell you very soon cuz my friend isnt in the States now but when I could get touch with him i would ask him about that so it would take a while. For VGA and Mega Pixel issue, as my experiences, in some case and reason, VGA could produce a better picture quality than Mega pixel. I am not talking about V3 and V800 stuff but I am trying to say that it depends on a lot of things like a sensor of camera CCD or CMOS and stuff Mega pixel means you can expect a picture size bigger than VGA(640 x 480) for sure but doesn't mean it would have to be better anyway. And regarding to V800, recording video and taking picture are not so bad but not as good as tons of phones on the market now I belive what i am trying to say is, do not think that Mega Pixel phone will always better than VGA but anyway,i still like my V800 and learning to make my own theme I hope anyone dont mind my opinion.

To motokiller: I talk about my v3 in mobiles forums because this is a mobile forum, wat else am i gonna talk about? my car? wise up just because you cant afford the superior v3 doesnt mean everyone else cant have one. I also have a mate who has an SE T610 and the cameras are practically identical (V800 & T610. SE are fooling everybody again saying that they have this fantastic 1.3 mega pixel camera but its merely an improved CIF T610 camera.And Yes i am on my second v3 because i obviously must have got v3 in the end of the line batch. But my replacement is absolutely fantastic. The phone shop offered me another phone as a replacement such as nokia's 7280, 7270, 7260 or megapixel 6670, Samsung's D500, SE's S700 or this crappy V800. I chose the v3 again with pride. The phone shops really do look after you when you buy an expensive phone. And really rapping your phone in tinfoil would be very stupid , its like something a child would do, but then again i am talking to jealous children who cannot afford a motorola v3. And we all know what children are like when they dont get what they want...

Calm down about the V3! V800, awful phone, mine broke within two days. The thin black bit of plastic on the back is NOT durable. 1.3 mega pixel camera on a phone is nothing to sing and dance about. I have tested it against a few other phone with a VGA camera on them, there really is no difference. The V800 has a good batterey life, typical SE, it is as functional as the K700i and has video streaming to boost. Problem is all of this is based on a very bad chasis. Don't drop it! Enjoy polishing it. Plus you have that very attractive Vodafone sticker on it! Nice. SE will bring out another phone in a few months that's a lot better than the V800, they have to, the V800 is a good phone in a bad case. If the V800 was an all metal case, a lot smaller and thinner, with better keys (ones you can touch with your fingers and not your nails), then you would have a very good phone. You would infact have the 3 gen version on the Moto V3!

Carol, it's true that you would have to get a contrast along with the phone and honestlt, I have no idea how a friend of mine got it for me in contrast-free maybe I would ask him and let you know but he did get 3 or 4 cell phones from Vodafone Japan to my friends (maybe not officially i dont know) we are about to find out. Dozlor marius, I can not say if the picture and video recording of V800 is better than Z1010 or not when it comes to that I never use Z1010 but I can tell you that if you expecting the best camera just ignore V800... the quality of it are worse than I thought it would be and seeing it more clearly when being compared with my Sharp GX30 but it's fine to me thou I dont use the cell phone taking a picture a lot anyway.

v800 has a funky camera and just icase you think it is not that good i would advise you to print them out. the reason they dont look too good on the screen is because s-e has used a screen that is not good enough for the camera.

Well, to be frank, I didn't order directly to Vodafone Japan but a friend of mine,he goes to Japan every 2 weeks so he bought it for me and the price isnt stunned coz you can get many of nice phones in Japan with this price but you just have to unlock it and of course, not like you can do that with every jappy phone. just some of them (Vodafone in particularly) is working with GSM.

I just got V800 today which is little bit more earlier than I expected but anyway, I got it for USD 200 from Vodafone Japan and $50 for unlocking the phone to be able to use worldwide ( at least in USA it works completely well) and I've also checked out of extra battery in Japan it cost for $20 I am not pretty sure though that was the guy in Vodafone Japan told me I hope it helps someone :) To Neil, I haven't tested it yet but I can use a mp3 as ringtone it works pretty fine. Ps. I am looking for website I could d/l theme and screen saver for my v800 now.

Vodfone is an english company. also the V3 doesnt have very good sound (might have something to do with the size) they both look nice though but the memory on the V3 sucks dont think it can take a memory card i didnt see a slot on it when i had it.

Did somebody test mp3 ringtones? In the manual of the V800 (Vodafone) is mentioned: "if you want to use an mp3 file as a ringtone, you can only use copyright-protected files specially designed as ringtones". Seems Vodafone wants you to buy their own mp3 ringtones...

I agree with the finger prints, what a stupid colour to make the phone. Polished black. Vodafone branding on it makes it look so stupid. It's going back and I'm no biased towards sony ericsson I've had their phones for 3 years. This is the only one that I've had that I've hated.

This phone is really good if you can handle a larger phone, and you can cope with the horrendous Vodafone branding. Only Nokia and Samsung fans will complain about this handset, because they are biased towards inferior technology. There's a reason that Sony Ericsson starts with 'Sony'.

Sending my V800 back as I really don't like it. Pic quality suprisingly poor, features are minimal but sound is pretty good though. Preferred my old Nokia 6600 which had some really clever features like zoom / rotate on saved pics, nice interface and some great applications. Awaiting arrival of the Sharp 902. Oh and I hate the polished black plastic finish of the V800, 1001 fingerprints, grrrrr!

A rather large phone that may be packed with cool stuff but takes a step backwards on the phone front. Who wants to own a brick these days? You need a good sized pocket for this phone. If you want neat and small this is the wrong phone. If you want loads of stuff this video calling, a service that is very rare right now, then it's ok. Key are too small, so you'll be using your nails on this one. Good technology, bad platform.

actually it depends if u ahve a data bundle.. coz if u ahve a data bundle, u dont get charged for browsing... browing before used to be �7.95 per mb.. but the price has actually come down... it is now �2.95.. exactly the same as o2.. not sure bout other nets though.. if u've eva used the h/set u'll obviously no y its such a good h/set... it wouldnt have PROPA internet explorer as the language is different..

This is a great phone. No doubt about that. I wanted the SE Z1010, tried an import but it had a few bug problems, so back it went. This is supposed to be the upgrade and in many ways it is. Similar but different. The keys are fantastic - v. sexy. The functions are great - 3g, mp3s as ringtones, nice installed ringtones (including a normal sounding phone!), calendar alarm. A good camera, although not as good as the s700i. A good range of effects, particularly frames to your photos, which will probably delight anyone under 15. No probs downloading by bluetooth or sending stuff. No bugs as yet or cut offs etc. Nice games - have downloaded trivial pursuit all though its a bit short on questions. And a flash light. The only thing I'm not too keen on (apart from the price!) is: (1) not sure about outer case. The black plastic leaves me a bit undecided. I would have preferred an all mental case. I sometimes wonder if it looks a bit tacky, but other people say it looks great. (2) Vodaphone branding on the outside makes the cover look too 'busy' and less stylish. Bt of a home goal with that one, Vodaphone. (3) I dont think the speaker is as good as the z1010. The Mp3 ringtones sound a bit fuzzy. Like a radio station from Algeria. Not sure if that is the phone or just where the technology is at the moment???? (4) The nice external screen doesn't have caller id photo, when I thought SE said it did.

Well, I have had a play with V800 and I can say this is the phone. I called at Voda�s shop and had a long chat with the sale rep, she was very helpful. After I had a look at the phone, she gave it to me to test. The main keys feel good, it is light but well made, the screen is really beautiful I ran through some of the menus, there�s some much to re learn over my old Nokia 6210. Then I ran the camera, this was on video and stills, The rep, should me how to run a live down load, it just goes on. There is only one thing I do not like, but can live with once the phone comes out as sim free. Sony Memory stick, I would like SD. In the sim free mode, It would be difficult to access 3G, but GPRS and 2.5 GSM will do. Cost: there are two tariffs 500 or 1000 minutes. At 500 you pay �40 per month and at 1000 you pay �60 per month plus the phone. That�s 40 * 12 contract = �480 plus �150 = �630 The cost goes up once you use up your time and cross network calls cost a lot. That is to expensive for me.

Rotating camera it means that u can rotate it !!! lol like in samsung phones, make self picture in front and rotate it to make pictures in back. This feature is also used for video call, cause its cheaper then 2 built-in cameras.

You all know what? After seeing the V1000, I think the V1000 (Motorola) looks worst than this. Just check out to "futuristic" keypads on the V1000. OMG. Not to be bias or anything. That design might 'look' cool maybe 3-4 years ago. Not now. Just like how the F117A looked cool the last time.

I personally really love the design on this phone. It is original and its just really smart. It has fantastic features it is just overall a fantastic phone.

Handset has all the right feautures for a 3g phone. Although the down fall is with Vodafone plastered all over the casing and on the software I will stay clear of it.
