T-Mobile MDA Compact V - User Reviews

  • great !!!

  • It's 2013 and I' still unsing it. I wonder why... well like they say Smartphones for smart people, I rather prefer quality and order not the flimsy android nor iOS. Of course many people said it is a bad phone, it is practically one of the best so far. It has all the new tech in it, it's stylish, and runs well ! The only dissapointment I have is that the marketplace for WM 6.5 has vanished so one can have a hard time finding apps, it's not impossible though. Cheers T-Mobile.

  • r these t-mobiles use in india?

  • u made lough pls kindly stop wat u r sayinglet me get u de solution of all ur problems. throw dis into de refuse dump and go buy htc sense hd2 t-mobile because dat run windows and android even android 4.1 ice cream sandwitch. kind buy de phone or u can check out

  • idk i havent got it yet:)

  • best phone ever for me who can i get it.

  • The worst device I have ever used! This is the worst device I have ever used. To begin the user interface is slow to respond and poorly thought through. When using the touch-flow feature the phone cant distinguish between a swipe and a press making operation a frustrating pain. The directory feature is terrible as it returns to the top level option every time you step back one stage. This means you have to repeat the complete search process every time when looking for numbers. Not having voice search feature for hands free working is something I would expect from a much cheaper device and makes hands-free operation virtually impossible. The screen is small and suffers as a result although it could be forgiven if the browsing experience wasnt so terrible. Everything seems to have a built-in lag which makes all operations very hard. A good example of this is the zoom feature below the screen seems not to respond when a closer view is required it then zooms in too close. Build quality is another area for concern mine has had 3 screen replacements in 12 months despite keeping the phone in its case most of the time. The software locks up and needs to be reset on an almost daily basis especially when accessing the directory. I have numerous hands-free headsets all of which have operated very well with other devices with this one, the volume is very low even on maximum making it impossible to use unless in a totally quiet environment. Signal reception is also appalling even in areas where there is excellent coverage. I was able to prove this directly by swapping the SIM card to another phone in the same spot and getting crystal clear reception. Swapping it back replicated the poor reception.

  • Hi - I read your post on changing the rom on XDA but I have had zero luck in locating one for the MDA, you have any ideas? Thanks

  • maz, you should chage the ROM. visit xda developers.com.

  • adobe flash 10

  • The phone is absolutely useless; to begin with, its network capacity to get you connected with the network provider is so weak, you keep getting those messages of missed calls. Secondly, the software keep crushing (Microsoft's old problem)and the internet takes ages to actually connect; as mentioned above, this is due to the low signal capacity. Thirdly, the software sleeps, so when you set an appointment using the calendar, the phone is suppose to go on a silent mode (because so I have set it up), but as it fails to act, it remains in normal mode and the phone rang while I was having an interview. Finally, again connected to its weak capacity to connect with the network provider, the video calling feature does not work at all, it just suggest that one makes a voice call. I own this phone in the UK and the network provider is T-mobile; probably the phone is fine with other network providers. But the software sleeping issue, is not related to the network provider. So good luck.

  • i got this phone from netherlands and i have been trying to change language setting as its in dutch language when purchase. How do i change the language

  • my mda compact 4 was a good phone and using bluetooth i could connect to my visor mounted hands free by using voice tags, all you had to do was highlight a contact, go into memory, click on add voice tag then speak the contacts name into the phone, job done, you can now phone any of your contacts by saying there name into the hands free. unfortunately i dropped and broke this phone and through i was given a mda compact 5 unfortunately this "better" model does not seem to have this feature but believe you can buy it as a AP for about 20. any comments?.

  • does not seem to have a voice tag ap to connect to my hands free visor mounted kit, my mda compact 4 did.

  • That's kool phone guys I love this phone

  • How I can get this phone?

  • Can u tell me the price of this phone?

  • Hi, how do you lock the screen. Cos everytime I take it out of the pouch, the screen would have changed. I have read the manuals but might have missed something.

  • No shit... MDA is HTC, just with re-modelled handsets with different features specific to T-Mobile in the firmware. Same as XDA is HTC specific to O2, and so on...

  • hey guys jus take a look at this..........its the exact clone to htc touch diamond 2...............u will surely get shocked.....the specifications ..seem like they have been copy pasted...including...its dimensions....

  • Can Any tell me for sure if this phone will come to TMobile USA anytime soon? The Tmobile here are not known for carrying attractive phones. I would love to see this phone come to TMo USA and even the Vario 5, but I much prefer not having a slide out keyboard.

  • The Compact V is a full touchscreen phone whereas the vario IV has the facility to slide the screen to reveal a Qwerty keyboard as well as being a touchscreen. All the features bar this are near enough identical. I work in T Mobile upgrade dept and both are popular phones it just comes down to preference. I personally prefer the Compact V as it's slimer and looks nicer. Also it is newer than the Vario IV bu only by a few months.

  • Any HTC phone? T-mobile MDA is an htc phone.. T-mobile just let's htc make the same phone that already have but with the tmobile signature on it because it's cheaper. So i't should probably be the same......

  • Hi guys. This weak i`m have an upgrade, can any one tell wich phone is better, this one or mda vario IV? Thank.

  • I have one too and there's NO flash on it,and the specs on here dont mention one.

  • This is quite a nice phone ...Just wonder when we going to have it in SA and just hope Virgin Mobile will have it soon

  • Got this phone today, no flash on the camera? Specs said there is, any users please tell me where. Also haven't yet found the handwriting recognition, where is that? Help anyone, thank you.

  • I have had exactly the same experience with T-Mob. Why are they bothering to drum up interest in a device that they clearly haven't got in stock? Desperation perhaps!!

  • @Iswordsius - are you sure? Because T-mobile has changed the goalposts so many times I'm begining to brlieve that this phone is just a phantom. I've been given several May, June and now July dates by T-MOB customer service for release, yet I hear some people saying they already have the phone. Who's lying? T-mobile told me on July 2 to go into any store and pick up my order which they had set up, because they had run out of phones to post to me. On getting to a store they bluntly told me they had never even seen a Demo piece of the phone, never ever have stocked it in any retail outlet in the UK and have no idea when they will. Yet T-Moblie have been advertising it in their magazines since May! PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very Happy with phone but only problem is battery timing. apart from that it is great. Touch is much much batter than any other HTC phone.

  • Spoke to T-mobile, phone gets released Fri 10 Jul.

  • how many pounds will i pay for this phona and will it work in S.A?

  • The MDA Compact V is T-Mobile's release of the HTC Touch Diamond 2 as they did with the original Touch Diamond (Compact IV). The only difference is the casing is slightly change for some reason. Also there's the addition of Web 'n' Walk widgets (not too many available currently) and Mobile TV which I don't use. I got mine last week (free on my business contract), and it's a really good phone with an great screen. Windows Mobile 6.1 is flawed but the TouchFlo 3D interface makes up for it.

  • since when was tmobile releasing the touch pro2 diamond?

  • How much does this phone cost?

  • but its the not same shape at the touch pro 2

  • but it's much prettier than the original Touch Diamond 2, in my opinion ;)

  • Actually, it is the Touch Diamond 2. Just compare the specs here...

  • Its a lighter, slimmer, narrower, shorter version of the vario v. It has a way better camera, better gps, radio but lacks the qwerty keyboard, tv output and battery life. Basically they are catering for two types of crowds, personally I like a tangible qwerty, though it might be heavier.

  • 1st!! ok, so this isn't a Touch HD and its not quite the Diamond 2 either....soooo what is this?
