Bought this ZF5 (TOOF/2Gb/16Gb) back then around September 2014. Hardwares still good except for batery (changed it with cheap OEM batery so now it's good again). Flashed it to Android Nougat (RR final thanks to xda and tank0412) + Gapps PICO. And I must admit,it runs smoother,faster than Kitkat/Lolipop from official asus OTA update. Still I am not recommending this phone as daily driver phone,,, because you know,,, the batery SOT sucks especially for 2018 standart.And also because only support up to 3G connection.

i have this device ..i bought it 2014 . .it's been 4 years and still rocks..thanks to the developers at xda..im using ressurection remix 7.1.2 nougat. Final build which is very stable for daily use ..performance is fluid and fast ...i never expect this device to perform like this...to all zenfone 5 (2014) users i would recommend to install this custom rom youll never regret it.

Hi there. Recently, I faced a problem on my android device. I took the pictures with my phone camera. After few days past, I found out that the pictures I took before all have gone. I bought this phone for 3 years but I have suffered freeze or crash sometimes even though in first year.Battery life I think quite poor,play mobile legends (like aov) sometimes cannot play over an hour. Camera, I think as it is great at contrast and quite clear,like it.

Overheating is the Atom processor but it runs faster. Large screen easily crack in jeans pocket. ZenUI is still good except for limited 5 pages. Camera autofocus is good. Pics are sharp but vivid. Battery drains fast if playing games. 2GB RAM & 16GB ROM is still relevant today. Sim card slots have contact problems. GPS, proximity & compass work well. Audio music is poor and so is audio calls.

Hi, can some one help me? I had this fone for almost 2 and a half years. But recently my data connection just stayed in 2g, even though i change it to 3g its still goes in 2g. Then i reset my fone then 3g starts working again for some time then it goes back to only 2g. Then i reset it again, 3g start working again but after 1day it goes 2g again. Ps. Asus zenfone or max is worse phone I ever come across. Its a mistake that i bought it. There features and the working process is very different. E.g. In the feature it may written the bettery is 5000mah but sumsung bettery of 2000mah will be last longer. It may say the Ram is 2gb or 4gb but in reality it always hang when we load a standard app, game etc. Wheras, it work well in other phone having 1gb Ram. Guess every feature and hardware of Asus company is just a fake one.

So, I have this phone for almost 3 years. I just drop it on the road today, and kind a bit late when I found it. it's already torn, the gorilla glass is broken, i lost the back case. but thankfully, it's still working just fine, the cameras, the flash light, the speakers, the mic, i can still use them. but typing is another story, because of the broken protection, my LCD isn't too damage and still functioning, just kinda hard to type few letters because of the damage.

From day one... I am using 2 and 1/2 years. Touch working really good,u never got other phones like this 100%. No hanging till now. Battery use for 2 hrs traval only.worst. SD card notification...Hurting. Service...They don't know...They only selling... Authorized service center only for their mother board... Just if you've already updated to Lollipop, there's no way to root your device. Downgrade your Zenfone 5 to KitKat. Then root it.. Install a custom recovery like TWRP on it, then flash CyanogenMod 13.1 from XDA. You'll have the best battery life in Zenfone history. Now, my battery longs more than 20h with 3G. No any problems. CyanogenMod's camera has faster performance than ASUS PixelMaster Camera + AOSP experience.

I suggest you guys stick to the latest KitKat than Lollipop w/c they haven't fixed bugs like Network Drops, No Voice when calling, Battery Drain, etc. since they have already abandoned it. They didnt even bother installing 5.1.1 instead as final Lollipop version. Overall don't bother buying Asus phones as their customer support and software assurance fails bigtime. Just look at how over priced their latest phones with crap socs.

I used it for two years and while it may not be compatible with many carriers here in the US, this phone is indeed powerful, I "almost" never had any lag with it, it's solid and can take the punishment of falls and scratches, it does not overheat very often which seems to be a problem with many other phones these days but it doesn't seem to be the case with this phone; Video and audio quality are very good, the back cover is replaceable, so when I got bored of my black phone I switched to Gold and it looked like new again. All in all, this is indeed a great phone, it is perhaps underrated as I didn't see how different it is from the other brands that offered the same specs but for triple the price! The only downfall for this phone is it's relatively poor non-removable battery, it would have been perfect if it was of a larger capacity or at least removable, it does charge fast enough though but it won't last long. Right now I still use this phone (Almost 3 years now!), however, I'll be upgrading soon so I plan to keep this baby as a backup!

Your service center at Gorakhpur is cheating the users of Asus Mobile. I submit my mobile Asus Zen phone on the centre which was booked vide receipt no.735 on 24.8.16 with diagnosis Fee of Rs.500/- ( 500/- for only see the mobile ). I had asked to Ms. Jazia who is at the counter at that time to see the mobile what is problem which have been corrected or not. Actually my mike of the phone is not working. But she has deposit 500/- and after 1 week returned the mobile with the same condition asking me to change the Mother Board of the mobie which about Rs.5000/-. If she told me at that time that repair cost will be Rs. 5000/- I never deposit the mobile and save at least Rs.500/- and purchase a new one. Company with connivance of his staff cheat me and all another customers. I hope you take action and return my 500/- to me.

Phone is best. But a major drawback is it's battery. Its draining is very fast. You should have Power Bank with this mobile. Otherwise it will not works more than a half day. Except battery very great phone.

I've been using this phone since July 2014, and compared to it's competitors (in the similar price range) this phone beats them all. It saddens me why many people here are trashing this phone. So I will review a few of those common aspects from my personal experience with this phone: 1. Battery Life: If it's just for chatting, phone calls and casual browsing then the battery will easily last a full day. I will admit though that playing games (especially 3D) will drain the battery in like 2 hours. During the first few months using this phone, I also experienced battery drain when I wasn't opening any apps, but after I disabled those useless apps and bloatware the battery became alot more reliable. With a capacity of 2050mah, don't expect outstanding battery life. (Shame on you who expect more from a budget phone). 2. Heating Issues: YES, I've also suffered from this. But again, after disabling background apps the heating issues subsided. Sometimes the phone will heat up when charging and still don't know why, but if it does, just unplug it, wait for it to cool down and then charge it again. It won't heat up after that. Another way is to restart your phone to kill off those running background apps. 3. Lagging: Absolutely no lag during the first year of usage. It actually became faster after disabling all those useless apps. It will lag a bit if ram usage is up to 70% but that's perfectly normal. Only these past few month have I experienced some lag even though there's still 1gb of free ram, but still VERY acceptable. As far as overall performance goes, this phone beats any other phone in it's class (AT THAT TIME PEOPLE, don't compare it the one's that came out late 2015 and above). Maybe people are forgetting that it uses a dual core processor.. (which is still very powerful due it's Hyper-Threading tech). Auto Restart Issues: Yes, once every few days it will restart on it's own, either when I'm playing a game on it or sometimes out of the blue it will restart itself (but never when i'm calling). I actually like this, it saves me the trouble of restarting my phone once a week to kill of those unwanted background apps. But for those who suffer from multiple restarts each day, the only reason I can think of is a corrupt file or it didn't install itself correctly. Durability: May I remind you that this is a budget phone, so it's durability can only go so far. This is why every time I drop my phone I pray that it won't come to it's end. And thankfully, after multiple, almost 1 meter high drops on solid concrete and asphalt, my phone is still okay. For those who dropped their phone at shorter distances, you have my sympathy. Maybe it was unlucky enough to affect a key component in your phone. :( Camera: Now this is what gets my gears grinding. For those who are trashing it's camera, it ponders me what you guy's are comparing it with. I will say I still somewhat not too satisfied with indoor pictures. Sometimes I'll get a lucky shot, but mostly meh because of the noise. Outdoor pictures, on the other hand, are great! Very clean and clear images. If it doesn't satisfy you, don't be lazy and try fiddling around with the camera settings. I for one have compared it with samsung's and lenovo's 8mp cameras and my vote is still with asus (ties with Xiaomi). A personal tip, before updating the camera, do please read the reviews on play store. If the majority of the reviews are rants and complains then I will not update it until otherwise. Others: - Screen responsiveness is great, even after dropping my phone. - Signal reception is acceptable. - Auto brightness works great - Loud speaker is meh, but I prefer using earphones anyways. - No problems connecting to PC. To sum it all up, I am very satisfied with Asus and this phone. If you want long battery life and superb camera shots, don't buy a budget phone people. As for lagging and heating issues, try disabling the useless Bloatware. It will do wonders :D

Have been using this phone since October 2014. Main issue is battery. I have to charge it at least 2 times in a day. Performance wise the phone is decent for the prize. For about INR 10000, this was one of the best options in the Indian market. Internal memory available for use is just about 5GB which is quite less if you want to install and use a number of apps. I routinely have to clean my internal memory to download an app. Phone sometimes shuts off while I'm on a call which is quite frustrating. It has started heating a bit also. Camera is decent. Screen is fine. After putting a tempered glass and a cover, the device becomes very well protected. In fact my phone has fallen down at least about 20 times and just recently I got a large crack on the screen although the phone and screen are still working. RAM usage is very high even though I don't play any games. About 75-80% of my RAM is constantly in use. ASUS has put a lot of bloatware which is a pain in the ass. Who needs the EMAIL app of ASUS which is practically useless. Anyways I upgraded to this phone from Moto E and now I'll be upgrading to OP3 or the new Nexus in the coming months.

yea... go to settings -> go to storage -> tap on the top right (like the connect icon thing) -> and tap the media or camera and you ready to go, just plug the data cable to ur pc and ur phone and it should be connected... if it's doesn't work... just change your cable

Waste of money .. I had bought a phone and within one month its speaker damaged and i get it repaired and now a new problem occured.. Its screen had breaked. They had published that its gorilla glass but i cant even think a breakage of gorilla glass by falling from a small height(34inch) i had used a nokia 1100 its far better than this in case of body quality... I had made a stupid decision on selecting this phone..

This is a cheap but capable phone. If you bought this thinking you were going to be able to play hours and hours of computer games it is not the fault of the phone. Hey guys I am using zenfone 5 almost for 1.5 years ,there is no lag and the set runs smoothly on high end games and multi tasking,display and touch sensitivity id awesome but the worst part is camera and battery,front camera looks like vga and rear camera is so poor it dont even look like 5 mp. I get maximum charge upto 5 hours when am using continuosly like gaming or browsing.the design is pretty well .but overall its not a perfect phone but for 10k its okay.

Not a good phone at this point in time.. phone was good but battery drains so fast that you would need to carry a power bank all the time. With 1 to 2 hrs of use phone will be dead. I have not seen so poor speaker sound in any other make, I have removed the mess which is placed in the back cover but not much use. I am writing this comment after 10 months.

true. i dropped mine from a short distance and the lcd got destroyed (only 3rd or 4th time it fell) also the phones performance and battery deteriorated very considerably in 2 to 3 months after purchase. Really Bad Experience. :/

Yes, released long long ago, but if I remember correctly, it has never been delivered OTA. I had to check for updates, go to Zen Talk from that screen, download the update, put it in /, and turn the phone off - on. Subsequent L updates, possibly except one, were OTA as usual. Works very good for an Android.

Great phone :) Good camera Good display Smooth navigation Pretty good for gaming (although lags a bit for really high-graphic games) The only thing that sucks though is battery. This is the major drawback. But what the heck, a fairly easy workaround is to just have a powerbank. So its not much of a drawback really. For a relatively cheap price, its still worth it! :D Had mine for only a year til it got stolen, sadly. I guess the phone is soo good its worth stealing eh?

Upgradable to Lolipop, they say it as if it is as easy to upgrade this phone to Lolipop as eating a pie. Just how careless Asus can be, they made the ROM, put it up on their site but they didn't care to release it OTA. Speak of absolute carelessness Asus should get a Oscar for it. The quality of Asus phones are undeniably good but such carelessness of Asus surely pisses off its loyal customers. Good job Asus because you essentially shot yourself in foot due to this oddball method of rolling update.

Re battery issue, Intel processor not work well with android os. If u use windows os i bet u it will last longer. Z25xx processor only dual core so proveßibg might need more power compare with z37xx. Intel need to look into this.

One of the best phones I have used so far and I have used a lot. The only problem I had with this phone is the in-built BLOATWARE. Had to manually DISABLE a lot of them before things got a lot stable and fast. Those bloatware if enabled will consume a lot of the 2Gb ram and slow down EVERYTHING. DO NOT update/uninstall any apps with "ASUS" in the name and you should be fine....

Hi, fellow peps. I know, this review is 1 year late. But, there are still people buying this phone so here's my opinion on the lasting capability of this gem on the 2014 market. As for the start, no issues whatsoever, like literally, no issues. You enjoy the fast performance of the Intel core and also the smooth ride 2GB ram, sounds great right? Yes it is, and then you realize that you will use this phone longer than 1.5 years, which is the limit to budget phone's healthy life spam. After that you're welcomed with: A. Laggy overall use with FaceBook installed. B. While using Youtube you'll have that annoying lag happening all over the place, not for long though. C. The battery counter will suddenly count battery percentage like a women's mood, up and down and boom, sudden shut down due to no power left. I am not saying this is bad or what but, this is something which will greatly disappoint ASUS users. As for my case I promised to myself never purchase any ASUS phones again. I recommend do not update system because there are some apps that wont delete anymore and it will consume your storage. another thing is the network type the box Asus had indication of LTE but when i found out its only GSM and HSPA. so dont ever buy this phone anymore.

This phone was very awesome, the people said they got problem at battery. But i don't, if you harrasing battery for high gaming I agree with them, but for daily like browsing open this and that not a game it's not bad as they say. The real problem was heat, for me. It's like I can mades some omelete over my phone, but it doesn't make any damage or malfunction, or beloved enemy: hangs. So far. But if you still got problem at battery even you're "not even once gaming" I should ask you this "what kind of apk did you install in your phone ?" And remember rooting can be change anything, include the power consume, and it will make a possible for your phone to "die" earlier than it should have. So, stay on the developer side. Enjoy.

No hangs with 175 apps rather than it's predownloaded apps. Touch sensitivity is awesome one ... for this feature we can compare with any phone. But battery is worse if you play high graphic games or online games. But still good for me if it is compare with it's price.

I hav bought this phone 7 months ago after viewing a lot of reviews.now im gonna sell this mobile..The following r the reviews of mine Display : Very good ips lcd screen for this price 8/10 Camera : 8mp cam is Excellent for this price, but front cam isnt that good 7/10 Multitasking : Is good, no noticable lag or hanging pblms.it has got 2gb ram 8/10 Gaming : Isnt that much good, coz some quad core mobiles will do better than this dual core model.i hav faced minor lags in some games. but for this price point it is good. 7/10 Asus service : i hav to say i've faced a mic problem for dis phone within 6 months.but the service is good tho..but i waited for 2 weeks to get it repaired. 7/10 Accessories : There is only few accessories available.i haven't found any original accessories from asus for this mobile, when i wanted a back panel for this mob.7/10 Sound : sound is very low for this mob, even at full volume its not that loud.and also calling experience isnt that good too.cant hear even in a medium noicy place coz the voice we hear sometimes drop repearedly.and its not a range pblm, coz i've compared it with my lumia 630 using the same sim card.and also i said earlier i've had a mic pblm fo this mob.using an earphone can make it better tho. 6/10 Browsing experience : haven't got any pblm in getting signal or browsing.also its good in 5inch big display. 7/10 BATTERY : Oh! come on Asus, whats the point of having a good smartphone without a good battery back up.I hav to say guys ,i decided to sell this mobile mainly bcoz of its battery pblm.after a full charge ,it gets empty after some hrs of normal use.from morning to afternoon for a medium usage; till evening without less usage.also battery heats up very much.can use it to make omlet.They packed a 2110 mah battery for a 5inch display.also who knows about power consumption of intel atom dual core processors of this mob.Very bad battery performance! 6/10 oh wait.. 5/10! UI & Asus software support : android lollipop version available for zenfone5.but there is a lot of bloatwares from asus in this mob.Interface is not bad, also u can add some launchers if u want to look it better.zen ui launcher consumes a much more power to work.7/10 Overall its a good mobile for this price point,but the main problem of this phone is battery , u may hav to spend some extra money to buy a good powerbank to overcome this problem!

Was using this phone for the last one year. ( proudly ). There was an issue with the sim slot .All of a sudden both the slim slots are not working . Went to the service center . Since the product is Out of Warranty , they seems extremely happy to register the case. Sim Slot for ASUS zenfone cost around 2$ to 8$ max in the market. today I received a call from the service center asking for INR 1800 for the parts. When asked back the question , they said this is the price from ASUS. I called ASUS customer care they confirmed the service center already ordered and procured two items for my phone. Service center denied this by telling they were not ordered anything and they are waiting to get my approval over the estimate. Come to know from one of my friend who have some close contact with the service center that this is one of the way to making profit. Too bad.

Don't buy this phone. It's great to use only if you plan to never accidentally drop the phone while standing. Dropped the phone while holding way to many things on my hands and everything went black. Turned on the phone but nothing happened. Had to pry open the battery and it went okay until the battery starts to run out. Battery won't charge. Remove and fix the battery again, it's charging but the screen is black. Still looking for ways to get the screen to come back normal. It's kinda crappy that the phone doesn't last a year and one small drop, it's pretty much gone!

I m having zenfone 5, i found it most awesome ever. I m using this phone since 1 year, no lagging, no hanging, efficient running. I must say it is highly optimised phone. 2 gb ram never ends, normally only 800 mb ram is in use.. If we are going to play high HD graphics games, even then ram will not get drained.. Intel CPU never get slow. I used to use many applications at a time, but still it runs very smooth. Camera is awesome, we can compare its 8mp pixel master camera with 13-16 mp camera of other phones. For good battery performance, use battery optimiser powered by intel.. It will definitely work, i am using this. This is only the phone in which android version can be downgraded without any problem. I have done this, while using lollipop, i downgraded the version to kitkat, and again upgrade to lollipop latest firmware.. still after this, phone is running awesome,

My Zenfone 5 is about 7 months old. A few months ago, would not recognize Sim and it took about 10 weeks to be fixed. Now it makes a loud static noise when answered - they said I might only have to wait 2 weeks to fix. Each time they do a factory reset and it takes days to get preferences set up etc (besides losing your recent calls/sms's etc). Honestly, do yourself a favour (as I am going to do) and buy yourself something reasonably reliable. It is just not worth the bother of being without a phone for extended periods

my zenfone 5 is turning 1 yr dis december, i don't have any problem, no hung up, sounds is better eventhough it is not a bit louder but the sound quality is good, display are good and browsing is fast when your connected to a fast wifi connection, except for heating apps is usual and battery drain fast, is the usual problem for android phone, i just connect it to my power bank whenever it is on low batt,, but for me the performance is good and i have plans to buy a zenfone 2nd gen next year

Actually your problem was sooo easy to resolve, you don't have to replace anything from ur phone. Just do clear data/cache on contact app or disable google voice then your caller will hear your voice. I assume you updated your firmware to latest firmware and didn't do factory reset after updating your firmware (which causes bugs including your problem) . You should've went to zentalk forum to look for its solution without spending money. :)

On paper this phone actually looks pretty good. In the real world, its terrible. In every practical way that a phone today should be solid. The GPS is atrocious. Signal fails at inopportune times, or it throws me a mile away from my actual location. Very frustrating when you're on the road and don't want to be fiddling with a failing device. Terrible. The battery lie is horrid. It jumps down on the most basic of tasks. Terrible. The bloatware is infuriating. Why do they think it's OK to fill my phone with more and more bloatware??? Even further updates brings more and more. Terrible. In short, stay far far away from this phone. I will never buy an ASUS phone again. The volume is inaudible. The speaker is so low that it has almost no point being there. Even the headphone volume is low. Terrible.

Worst phone I have ever used. Poor battery backup. GPS not working after first updation. Loudspeaker damaged and I called service centre, they told me there is one week delay for repair it. I gave it in a local service centre. They people cleared it within one hour and charged 500 rs. I will never recomend it.

I was transferring some photos from my phone card to SD card (which I then transfer to my laptop). After popping the SD card back to my phone this folder called the User's Photo magically appears. And it has pictures of my friends on Facebook! But I wasn't on Facebook at that time nor was I on any other social media. Yes. if any phone problems its normally related to the user. I've used this phone for a year now. No problem whatsoever. I even dropped it on the floor (about 3 feet) & nothing happend. It still functions well. Asus is not really famous but in terms of durability, its got its standard.

Performance of Mobile is no doubt very good. Battery is draining like anything... It should be atleast 3000mAh. Mic of my Zenfone 5 expired within just 6 Month of usage, Poor service centre response will have to wait 15 days atleast to get it repair. Asus support is saying parts is not available with them, then why have they opened service centre and invested for that if even a basic part is not available. I now consider ASUS as micromax or like spice. Overall mobile is good. No hanging at all.

IT'S best phone in range...I have a mic problem after 11 months but I agree I have used it to its best considering the cost and features it gives ...While driving I have my bluetooth,3G, gps on along with maps and bluetooth connected to my car audio and phone charges along side it gets heats up but is manageable yes it also power off due to excess heat and then starts again normally in 2 mins or so I was using Xperia go prior to this which lasted for 2 years but it was 18K and now hardware is even outdated

Just upgraded my Zenfone 5 to Lollipop! Fast, nice and smooth! I think battery backup is same as Kitkat. No major bugs as of now. Just wipe cache/factory reset your device after upgrade. Backup your important files. Don't wait for 5.0 FOTA because moderators in Zentalk says they will not distribute the firmware as FOTA. Manual upgrade only. Check for yourself. Thanks all.

been using this for 1yr+ and my warranty ended on 1Aug2015.and this is my first smartphone that I bought it myself. so this is my opinion about this phone. Spec: 1.2GHz CPU 2GB RAM 8GB Internal storage (why did I even buy this, thats what you get for being impatient :c) Design: -Smooth, feels great in hand, expensive looking with original ASUS design :D -I dont really like the earjack port tho since I play games alot in landscape position -Speaker is way too small compare to the long design on its back cover D: (y u lie) -Nice tactile feel on the power buttons and volume buttons. -High durability Gorilla Glass display (phone fell a lot of time out of pocket but still did not break) -HD display with great dpi value. System: -Uses Intel Atom (which people call heavy energy depletion) D: -Small battery + Heavy energy consuming CPU D: -System update worsen battery life. -Camera is nice with flash and all those effects and variable ISOs. -Great for playing casual games. -Easy flashing procedure (using cmd and adb) :D Its a good phone for a tight budget but if can, please don't upgrade to KitKat or Lolipop since battery consuming is crazy (Full charge last for 4hours only for WW v3.23.40.60 Lolipop) (KitKat had bad ram management so a lot of apps tend to crash like games, etc) TnT Planning on downgrading my phone to Jellybean 1.18.40.9 or 1.18.40.10. because when I was on JB, and play games with mobile data + VPN, the phone temperature did not reach 40'C+ which KitKat and Lolipop did, and the battery last for almost 12hrs. And somehow I see that ASUS is becoming more like Samsung.....releasing a number of version for a model and did not fix the issue regarding their firmwares for their phones....come on ASUS, I gave up on Samsung because of that and please not you too.... :c

Hai, am using this phone for almost 1yr and it working fine.. it has great camera and processor speed and we can upgrade manually to lollipop. Every smartphone has a battery issues but it withsatands for continuous usage of 5.30 to 6 hrs. And moderate usage for 1 day. And I have droped this phone from around 4 feet from 5 to 6 times but there no issues of breakage still I think it maybe lucky or hardware is good...! But no issues due to dropping... and overall its a good phone under 10000.. still now I don't have any problems with this mobile... am satisfied from this product.. its a value product for money and even suggested to many friends they love it.

I've had one since October 2014. The battery life is not good, some apps just devour the battery - need to clear all apps to make it to the end of the day. The worst thing for me is the SIM card reading - it constantly forgets or disables the sim card. Of course you don't know this, so you are waiting for an important call and it doesn't arrive. For me this makes it a small tablet - NOT a phone!. My daughter has the same phone, with the same problems!

Most issues with devices has nothing to do with the device itself. It's almost always a user issue. Aside from the Lollipop update, I've never had an issue with my phone. Notice that the only people posting a comment are those who have complaints? How many Zenfone 5 users are there worldwide? How come only a handful are experiencing issues? #Asus zenfone is a very good phone and value for money. However, phone has a known fault that after few months of use, green/yellow patches appears on both the top sides of the screen. Specially in India, customer service is very poor. Despite of known error, it has already taken 10 days and I have not received my phone yet after repair. I can tell you, Zenfone 5 is a very decent phone. Yeah, the battery isn't good enough to survive a full day, but it never is a very big problem. You can use battery saving modes to get extra few hours. For me, I get 15 hours after almost a year of using it. The performance of the phone is awesome for me, it's fast, gaming performance is good too. 2 GB Ram keeps the phone smooth. Though the phone's outlook gives the impression of a cheap phone, it's built quality is very good, I don't use any back covers and after using for a year with 2 drops from almost 5ft height, it's still looks new :) Camera is ok for me. It could be better, but what more can I expect from Asus for this price? Oh, it has the official Lollipop now. It definitely is one of the best phone on the market for its price, even the phones those cost 100 dollars more than this on.

Yes fantastic phone with shitty battery typing this with zenfone 5 chained to wall charger... Asus gave me a life coexist with wall charger... its my 2nd time charging this phone in one day and good to know this phone is not my only phone using in a day ... Luckily i m not having this problem.. many peoples have different different prbolems though same phone, same model.. my phone heats up n battery backup problem. I don't know about ur problem dear akanksha. It seems that it is not a big problem but if u find it difficult to use then u shud complain or u shud go to the shop where u bought the phone. If u bought it online then u shud complain but i don't think they will help.. so don't keep much expectations from the online dealers.

I have purchased an Asus Zenfone 5 on 13.12.2014 through flipkart. The phone was delivered by Acyutam Etrade Pvt Ltd, New Dellhi who is an authorized dealer of Asus Phones and registered with Flipkart. There was a problem with the phone within one week of delivery. When I contacted the authorized service center M/s Regenersis (India) Pvt Ltd., in Bangalore, they informed me that there was a problem in the motherboard and the same had to be replaced. Since the phone was bought through an authorized dealer with flipkart, the return policy for the product was only ten days,due to which the phone could not be returned. The motherboard was replaced on 8.1.2015. Within six months of purchase of the phone, i.e from 1.7.2015, the videos shot be me, could not be sent through the Whatsapp appllication. The video was either not being sent, or was being sent as a scrambled picture to the recipient. When I visited the service center once again on 8.7.2015, they informed me that a part of the camera module had to be replaced. Within one year of purchase of the phone, I have already encountered two major problems. The Company Asus Technology says that they cannot replace the phone, and after the warranty period of one year, they would charge for the services. The company is being unfair and has given me a defective phone.. There are three other family members who have purchased the same model of Asus, and are not encountering any problem even after one year of purchase. This was what prompted me to buy the phone costing Rs.10599/- but the company has cheated me, by refusing to replace the defective phone.

Merits: 1) Awesome camera (both front and back) 2) no hanging problem 3) super fast 4) impressive design 5) impressive features 6) it has corning gorilla glass 3. Demerits: 1) battery backup problem. It drains very soon. 2) heating problem. Its the biggest demerit for me. It heats up very very soon. While playing video or accessing internet it heats up like fire. Its just unbearable hot i can't even touch it. 3) dual core processor (old fashion) so Dear Akanksha please check the phone before buying. Personally i got disappointed when i got to know about the heating and baterry problem.. so check every phone and get details then go for it... thanks

I bought this phone on 26 june this year, i.e 2015. I found the phone awesome. Its very smooth thanks to 2 GB Ram. It didn't hanged yet i hope it goes on like this only. Both the Camera is good (no doubt), speaker too.. but i got disappointed when i got to know it doesn't offer free earphones, so i had to buy an extra earphones. Now the biggest demerit is that... It heats up very very soon. I watched a video for about 10 mins and it started to heat up. When i access internet it heats up and the heat is unbearable hot. I can't even touch it. It becomes too hot.. somewhere i am disappointed after i got to know that it heats up.. i would never buy it if i knew it before. Its only the biggest problem for me otherwise the phones is good... so guys check it before buying..

Cut and paste that firmware in ur computer. Copy that file back to your phone's internal storage. Make sure that ur paste it outside and not in any of the folders. It'll work. I was facing the same problem. It got solved.

Well, specwise. Both phone is similiar. I have played games on vboth xiaomi and zenfone 5. Games runbetter at ZF 5. But in xiaomi its not too bad too. Ill say the fps is below Zf 5. But xiaomi's greatest advantage is its battery. Bigger than ZF 5. So the overall rating will go to xiaomi. But, if you love creative photography and doesnt mind carrying a powebank anywhere. Then Zenfone 5 is a solid, i say again, Solid choice for you! With all that being said. The decision is yours

Dont go lolipop upgrade for now. There is battery issue which dont go beyond 75% at most of the time plus fast draining. I also faced problem in call hearing by the person at other end. So I had to get back to Kitkat again. This all done in Asus service centre. Also heard that in some cases the phone was restarting on its own at frequent intervals. Hope the Asus managers note this and resolve the issues at the earliest. Please Please Please.

i am using zenfone 5 1.6 2 gb version for 5 months now. ive upgraded to lollipop. lete share my usage experience with mine. battery backup last for 18 hours with 3.5 hours screen on time. using 3g data network. if your zenfone 5 last below mine, then you may get a defective battery.

this phone camera are nice especially at night time it is stunning good for the owl mode with f/2.0 lens. battery life understandable because intel using 32nm transistor some more running at 1.6Ghz with only 32 bit such a high clock speed cannot expect a ferrari save oil right. performance in Antutu Benchmark can hit 24k point even samsung note 3 only 33k Samsung A5 22K.

Asus completely disappointed their customers. I bought this phone one month ago. Rear camera works good in daylight. But in night time it gives ugly result in both normal and low light mode. It couldn't fight with Sony*s 5MP camera in night times. And the important issue is that the battery drains so fast. I am charging my mobile thrice a day. I am completely irritating by this product .

The heating issue is the only issue with the ZenFone 5 besides the battery life....Asus never really solve the heating issue and improve the battery life with their updates ....disappointed

The biggest problem on the asus zenfone 5 is the battery backup . It's so poor . The battery backup is not enough for long duration . I suggest asus to fix this then zenfone 5 will become a great phone .

Its weird, i got Zenfone 5 with 2 ghz clock version and it has many problem. Overheat, long time charge(take 4-5 hours), drain battery and games lag(asphalt 8 High setting). So i go to asus store and i change my zenfone 5 with 1.6 Ghz version. And its fix all issue, cooler, 2hours charging, longer battery and games is smoothly. So i recommend if you want buy Zenfone 5, buy a 1.6 Ghz version(16gb rom and 2gb ram)

worth the money.. performance in gaming and using other apps are amazing.. with Zen UI apps pre installed which is very useful. Camera is good for the price.. fair. 1.my only problem is the battery capacity of 2100mah..which is easily drained on facebook era or browsing in a lot of time using ur phone or watching videos, usually this battery capacity cant last long for hours for fb,browsing,watching videos which make ur SCREEN ON also for many hours. i didnt complain about this because of the price..fair. maybe if they put 3000mah-4000mah battery in this then maybe the phone price will be higher.. like when u put gorilla glass in this maybe the price became high also. 2.low sound back speakers this two was my only problem and all works great. :)

Go for anything but Motorola! Moto g cracks the display ridiculously easily! Its not covered by warranty, the replacement costs 50% of what you paid for the phone (that because glass, touchscreen, display and front frame are all glued in the same piece). Plus, you will be paying high and having a very good chance on getting a poor quality chinese replacement for all these components.

I already upgraded to lollipop :) The lollipop UI is very beautiful to zenfone 5..i like it so much :) And some zen ui apps also became great when updated to lollipop like messaging,call screen, camera etc. For those who wait for the OTA.. u can manually update ur zenfone 5 to 5.0 if u cant wait like me :) Just search zenfone 5 manual update to google and it will sent u to an asus website. But manually update it at ur own risk.

The battery issue is largely resolved if you install GREENIFY which hibernates unused apps. Asus should include GTEENUFY in its bundled apps to counter the phone's greatest weakness. Try it and see. Otherwise thus a fantastic phone and completely changed the market.

I and also my friends experiencing the same issue.Also you can face the issues in charging the mobile.Some times ,you will see that your charger is charging other phones but not charging yours.This is not an issue with the charger but with the phone it self.when you will restart the phone the charging will start.also the orange light that lights when you charge your mobile will continue to blink after you have disconnected the charger. Bakvas phone h ye....don buy. I am not a person who is just posting here to make a bad image of ASUS but sharing my real experience. Please improve the quality of you product ASUS and also add more service centres

I regret buying this phone. If you are happy with only 3 hours of battery use then fine. I have to underclock the device (from 1600mhz to 800mhz) to get five hours of continuous use. Don't use intel processors for smart phones, sucks ass big time.
