BenQ E72 - User Reviews

  • why 3G ? Nice

  • This phone is excellent but with the rom 6.5 windows mobile it is so eficcient!

  • terrible phone. battery, logic, and now memory full despite new sd card, it has stalled.

  • i like this phone, very optional..

  • www.e72.eu great site about BenQ E72

  • The phone is great. I have for a mounth.

  • stand by time is way too short, scratches easily and freezes a lot. On the contrary, quite hany for a windows mobile version 6 smartphone

  • Great phone, but i found the display scratched easily, and the call quality isn't that great.

  • I like the phone, hate the operating system. The phone seems to be well designed and well built. It isn't touch screen (Windows 6.1 is the touchscreen version of Windows 6.0) but I wanted a phone to use as a phone so was happy with that. Windows 6.0 though has given me problems from the outset, whilst it syncs ok, loading Contacts from the computer proved a major headache, THERE IS NO DISTINCT CONTACTS FOLDER! Instead Contact details are embeded within an executable (EXE) in conjunction with at least two other files not readily accessible to user. Call logs are assigned directly to Contacts themselves, and I do not want this. You can add contacts to the phone manually no problem, but I suspect most people will be migrating from other phones and will want to just tranfer contact details rather than enter them in all over again. It seems to be designed mainly for use with Outlook, what of users who don't like Outlook? I do not use Outlook due to the security holes. Likely I will not be using this phone due to data security concerns. With Windows 6.0 until I can reasonably ensure the security of either my own or others personal data, phones using this oprating system are a no no. - A very nice, well built reasonably priced phone if you want Windows 6.0, on consideration I do not now want Windows 6.0, 6.1 or the like, though otherwise I like the phone itself. - Will

  • too short stand by time.. just wonder if it have more battery capacity i'll buy it

  • This is a lovely phone. This must be the smallest with a normal phone keypad running windows. It would be perfect if the battery lasted more than half a day!

  • The phone is perfect. Sometimes a bit laggy because of the window os but still a perfect phone.

  • I got one of this phone. I'm very happy. Bluetooth is good. I tested Wi-fi connection with Fring and IE. Its very fast and working fine. Easy to use menus and phone. Synchronization with computer works fine. Outlook Exchange server connection is also working very good and mails come automatically when received. microphone quality is good but speaker sound is not good. quite low.

  • well if you compare the price you will see how this is the better phone. This costs $120-$150 and the Samsung i200 costs $300. What do you expect ??? There is plenty of phones and cost $300+ and are better but for this price you wont find another phone like this one. Think before you type.

  • I'm very happy with my E72, for the price is really hard to find a better choice if your main interest is being connected via email, MSN, etc...and the camera was a pleasant surprise, is pretty good!..excellent phone...

  • try fring for skype, www.fring.com it works on windows mobile phones

  • As of now, no winmo 6.1 for this phone. Me, too, is waiting for 6.1 before i buy this cute phone.

  • I bought a Benq E72 on EBay as a standby, easy to pocket second mobile, its very small easy but easy to use and to sync with my PC which meant I had all my contact phone numbers on tap within minutes, however what makes the Benq E72 impractical/unusable is the battery dies in day or less depending if you use it!

  • It look pretty stylish but before i buy it i need to know whether it works with Windows Mobile 6.1 can anyone shed some light?

  • Does it come in other colours???

  • Does the phone support Stereo Blue tooth

  • I have this phone for over 3 months now and have used the HTC S730 before that. I have to say that this is a great device; well done BenQ!! It has everything that you caaould possibley need in a windows mobile powered device. It is a brilliant design and probably one of the smallest and lightest on th emarket. Whilst the materials used are a little plasticky theyare well put together. The keypad is tactile with very responsive keys and the lettering a good readible size. The radio has a great reception with no lost calls and th esound is indeed very clear .Its got bluestooth with A2DP for wireless stereoover bluetooth and it works a treat. It aslo has wi-fi b/g which is great when using Skype (not included).Added to this are little extras like "vibrate on connection" which means you do not have to hold the phoone at your ear when initiating acall; when it vibrates you are connected. Also it has microSd up to 2 GB which is useful for saving the 2 Mega pixel camera aswell as music. All in all a great litttle device and comes highly recommended. Benq , we need more like this and BTW with a bigger screen!!

  • I like the phone- there is no alternative for this price. But I have a chalenge how to install skype. I was trying the way I found in another forum. With active sinc but I can not make it. If somebody knows please share.

  • HTC S740 is better than samsung i200.

  • Well when I bought this phone, I found it complicated to use for the first two days. Now having said that, when you figure out how to use this phone, it is really an amazing device. It has everything a phone could have, from bluetooth to WiFi. It has 100's of amazing functions and is not a waste of money. On the negative, there are basically 1 or 2 small things. One thing is, that the processor is a bit slow, but its bearable. The 2nd thing is that the battery wastes really fast if you use Wifi (only) the other apps don'd drain the battery very fast. I don't know for what reason the battery gets drained so fast when WiFi is on. Well there is the basics on the phone. It is a really good phone. I think they played it safe with the design and that's ok, but I would have love the seen the phone as a touchscreen or even a bit more wild design. Im not complaining about the current one. I would have just loved to seen it taken a bit further.

  • samsung i200 is better than this...

  • ARM926T OMAPV1030 is a 260 MHZ processer

  • Ive been using this device for few days now (heavily) The device is satisfying in general (for the amount of money paid). could be faster at some parts definitely but if you keep RAM usage reasonable you'll get a decent performance. wifi is fast and good... as with any wifi device the consumption gets higher with it on. but not as said in the other comments. the battery lasts for one day of usage (if you use everything that day, cam + 1 hour wifi + 20 minutes talk + lots of messaging and surfing the options and menus). two days if used normally. about the screen, yes its small for a windows mobile but does the job (for those who are shouting about how small the screen is, HOW DID YOU USE other nokia &/or SE &/or siemens devices?!), the screen is very bright which is pleasing to the eye and resolution is high which gives crisp view of items specially images. camera isn't good compared to other good 2 MP cams (SE K750, K810, Benq-Siemens S88) - no autofocus and no flash. keypad is good for typing, device is slim and fits in ur hand and pocket nicely. it DOES support EDGE. any other pros/cons I guess should go to WM6 installed not the device itself. all in all its a good phone for its price I would give it 8/10.

  • The phone isn't that bad, its so cheap for a windows mobile and it gives what it promises. definitely if you want a better phone you should pay more!

  • I've used O2 xda2, motorola mpx-200, o2 xphone2, asus P525, all expensive winmo devices. All these bugs, slowness etc., you are mentioning about this "cheap" E72 were all present at those above mentioned expensive devices.

  • Phew ... after bricking this phone I worked out by trial and error (no customer support available) that the E72 can be reset by holding BOTH the LEFT and RIGHT menu softkeys (just under the screen) and turning the device on !!! ... That took many MANY hours to work out lols. Good luck all :)

  • take out sim card and battery, press red phone button on the front for one minute - then place the whole phone in the trash and go and buy another half-decent handset

  • shocking, shocking shocking. Slow to use even the most basic apps (mainly cos of the clumpy nature of windows mobile); tiny reflective screen that's almost impossible to see in sunlight; a battery that lasts about 2 hours if you're using wi-fi (which is supposedly why it is part of BT Fusion) and a wi-fi that doesn't intuitively connect to networks that already knows. When will BT finally get a descent handset to go with Fusion?

  • What's the processor type and speed?

  • Anyone found out how to do a hard reset?

  • Can someone tell me where to download the user manual for this phone?

  • Although the phone has a good look and design, the battery lasts less than 20 hours even with moderate use of gsm phone and few SMS messages. The processor is slow and takes time on opening basic programs. I donot recommend it buying.

  • Is good the phone. Also the price is good.

  • I got this phone 4 free, Mr. Lee the BenQ GM in Sinagpore give it 4 me. to all my friends in Indonesia, you should try this fone. with the price under $200, u allready got WiFi and Windows Mobile phone. the desain is excellent, but it had a minor drawback. such as, the SMS font is 2 small, and the speakerphone sound is not so loud. but overall this fone is a best buy choice.

  • Hey,you can buy it in giant supermarket for only rp.1,9milion or less than 2milion,,or maybe in other supermarket like carrefour or guardian..

  • Nice shape!,...and the most important is have windows mobile on their OS.can anyone tell me,..where i can buy this one in Indonesia?

  • it is cool, design of Benq-siemens mobile is so different & more interesting than other brands but the company needs better advertising for better sale!

  • the spec say it doesn't support EDGE ?

  • I like it

  • its size is very small. support EDGE and the speed when using EDGE is excellent. Using skype over wifi is wonderfull.

  • The BenQ E72 is a GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz device that runs on top of Windows Mobile 6 and also packs 2" screen, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connectivity, and of course the standard microSD memory expansion slot. As for the preinstalled software, there's some kind of universal IM client that works with all major IM networks (AOL, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ and Google Talk), RSS reader, and other standard software which comes with Microsoft's mobile OS.

  • can someone tell me how to do a hard / factory reset?

  • Now avaliable on BT Fusion, it's quite slim and very light for a WM6 handset.Battery life isnt't as good. Have to charge every 2 days.

  • Only GPRS and not even EDGE?!? That is idiotic...

  • My opinion on Benq phones is never buy one. Mine is still in the service for almost six months is under warranty and Benq did not yet send the spare part

  • This phone is great! It's a slim(13mm) and light(90g) presentable mobile phone, with the power to manage any heavy demands by my behalf. Fast CPU for freeze-free operation(400 Mhz), 128Mb flash Rom for more Apps to be installed on the phones memory (faster and smoother than SD/MMC memory), WiFi 802.11b/g for free mobile internet and the Mobile Windows 6 Smartphone OS and all the capabilities that it offers(wide range of Apps/Utilities/Games/Music and Video Playback/Email/Web browsing/VoIP/IM...). Can't wait to get my hands on it, i just hope it's not very expensive!!!

  • I thought this was a UMA/GAN phone so the radio networks available should add UMA/GAN to the GSM networks listed

  • no edge no buy? you got WIFI!

  • Zobi here... all in all this phone is not bad. It does have edge, i checked. It's probably one of the smallest WM6 phones out there, let alone with wi-fi. And it looks alright. Me likes flip phones better but oh well...

  • no edge no buy

  • it definatly looks good - would be interested to see what benifits the Window Mobile OS gives it.

  • I have to say I like the slim form smartphone E72,lets just hope it doesn't suck, maybe it's for a those who want a windows smartphone on a budget
