  • A simple sw fix is needed to make it able to handle sdcards bigger than 2Gb. If I am not mistaken, wm 6.1 update includes this fix.

  • I have been using this phone for last two years but I certainly feel that this phone is highly over rated. For 18K, I should have gotten much better phone. The camera is bad. The interface is too slow (Windows!) and this phone sometimes just does weird stuff like not reporting missed calls when you are on another or just not ring at all at times. Service in Bangalore was good though.

  • Clear the cache and enjoy again. Another option is to go to the authorised repairer. He will charge you about Rs.300/- to reload the software, which is the way he makes his packet for his ignorance or to fleece you. Take it the way you want with a pinch of salt.

Should not discontinue with writing recognizing software.People only needed to be educated about this phone. I would be satisfied with a 3G version which is thinner, has a better battery capacity and should not heat up as fast as it does. Overall a satisfying instrument

  • SIr, I have purchased a HTC P3300 mobile phone about 2 years back from Bangalore South India. It worked with no problems for a short period of time,then one day it was found that I could not do without the battery charger and it become impossible to use outside the house.The matter was refered to a HTC show room cum repair center in Ulsoor Bangalore.I was informes that the (Mother Board) was bad and had to be replaced and it would cost about a third of the cost of the phone wich would be about RS18000/ (Eighteen thousand only). I moved to N. Delhi a few days later and refered the matter to a service center in Okla Industral Estate.I was informed that the problem was the same and that the mother board would have to be changed and the cost would be about Rs 18000/.They even tried to return another mobile phone in place of mine. On my return to Bangalore my son got the battery changed after which the phone has been working farely well. This only shows the -poor quality of servicing in the HTC servicing centers and how they take the costumers for a ride if their knowledge is limited. For a battery of Rs1300/I would have lost Rs18000/. A VERY POOR SHOW BY HTC

  • first of all instal activesync,which is a software, c d comes along with handset on your computer and connect your phone to computer through usb data card. if you don't have cd,than download activesync 4.5 from internet.

  • This seems to be a common problem!!!! The same thing happened to me, god i m so scared of using my phone now. This seems to be because of a faulty hardware than OS. Bad luck we got these...

  • Changed ROM　few times. Still hang few times a week. People still can call in when it hang, all thought i don't want answer the phone, sick of it. Camera not function anymore after one drop.

  • Just update ur quick gps. It is valid for only 2 days

  • You should syncronise ur phone with PC and then after ur outlook mails get erased then again syncronise ur phone with pc. Then u will get all ur outlook mails and contact list back in the phone

  • that s not posible (according to the agriment with windows, HTC didnt alow changing the OS language) but we can do it with other source like some cracking software and load new English RAM and english windows mobile (browse internet or find any local mobile software expert)

  • the sim card holder is not good and often will not read the sime card. it comes loose easily. the camera is also a very low quality. only 2 mega pixel, considering there are 10 mega pixel phones out there now.

  • The phone has a drawback of software lingering in the memory. The mapking software needs 16.5 MB free memory at startup. So you will need to stop all applications by Settings-System-memory-running progrram-stop all. Else reboot the device

  • you would need to spl unlock ur device and install the yue extra clean rom. forum.xda-developers.com is pretty useful. install all the apps on the memory card. install schnaps config tool and change the location for all the data u need. you shld have a very quick rom and ppc.

  • yup. i'm a newbie with gps device+pda. For starter, P3300 is a great pda phone that have almost all the features., except 3G. (but thank god. i dont like to hv 3G coz it burn my wallet faster) i enjoyed so much the phone. it works wonder with mapking R12 as well in malaysia. procesor, ram and rom is abit low cmpared to other latest htc model. may not suficient for heavy usage/utilisation. but its is just nice for my requirement, gps, wifi, phone and media player.

  • GPS works excellent with Mapking2007 in Malaysia. Bluetooth, Wifi, Outlook Express works fine. Processor and RAM is ok for normal use. Application/software works fine with WM6 with SPB shell. Good value PPC for beginner.

  • Hi Joaquim, you cannot change the language. you would need to install a spanish rom. go to forum.xda-developers.com unlock spl and then install a spanish rom. Both are available there. good luck.

  • The default is 2 GB. However, on installing new sdcard cab even 8 gb can be used.

  • This OMAP 850 can be overclocked to 264Mhz with Zero Issues other then lil more power used but not much.. google for the OMAP overclocking Software its Free this includes HTC s621 or any Smartphone with the OMAP 850 by the way by default this processor isnt really 201 Mhz its 186Mhz bu OMAP Clock will boast it up to 264Mhz its quite Nice!

  • To make the GPS working, follow these steps 1. Navigate to Start->Settings->System(tab page) 2. Select "External GPS" 3. Ensure GPS program port is set to COM4 on the Program tab page 4. Ensure GPS hardware port is set to None and Baud rate is set to 4800 5. On Access tab page ensure "Manage GPS automatically(recommended)" is checked. Now you need to configure your Map software, e.g. Mapking or Google Map Steps to configure Mapking application 1. Open MapKing 2. On bottom of screen there is Tool menu. Go to Tool->More->Options 3. Switch to GPS tab page 4. Select "By User" radio button and set the three options as COM4 Baudrate: 4800 GPS Signal: Normal 5. Close the page. 6. Your are all set for navigation!! On the MAP view page go to Tools->Routing. Here set Start Point as "By GPS". Now back on Mapview page click on GPS icon on right bottom. On the top right you will see a ? mark and battery icon. Also the orange light on your phone will start blinking indicating it is searching sattelites. You need to be standing in open area for the phone to detect satellites. If satellites are detected, it the ? mark will change to GPS signal strength indicator. The map wil automatically shift to the position your are standing!!! As you walk the arrow mark will move indicating realtime position!!

  • Never buy this PDA ! This device is really catastrophic for a lot of details, overall the battery. The connectivity, the link with the PC are wonderful but a lot of functions are not nice enough for such price. Try to send a MMS, for instance !   • hi viswa theres a good news... this morning i got my gps working. infact in the external gps settings i had selected MANUAL infact it should be on automatic.... oh god am so happy to see that gps is working very good on google maps. i can identify each n evey roads with accuracy of about 3-4 meteres and i guess its pretty good. Now another hurdle is i have to find some maps which works without gprs connection since for google it needs gprs.as such mapking is uselesssssssss my city is not there.   • This phone is just good (not awesome, not great) for those who want windows mobile phone. If you want user friedly phone don't go for it. PDA phones are useless for for quick use. The only problem I feel is the HTC service center in Hyderabad. People at service center are absolutely rude and idiots. They don�t have even a small sense of politeness.I don�t know whose problem is that, but i will hate using the product of a company whose service center is not good at all.

  • This phone is just awesome! I've had it about a year and I'm very happy with it. I flashed a custom ROM from XDA-Developers and I have touchflo and a bunch of other extra software. Processor speed is OK. I use battery status to overclock at 247Mhz. The battery lasts about 1.5 to 2 days. I rarely have to reset the device, the roller R and the scroll wheel combined with the pointed to allow you use it one handed for everything. GPS with TomTom is the best feature of the phone. It doesn't have a reg D-pad but the 8 front buttons make up for that when playing games. Very satisfied.

  • I bought this phone after a lot of research and it has paid of well. This phone is great. Does not hang. The GPS is cool. There are couple of settings you need to do. 1. Set External GPS setting to Port=Com4 and Baud rate to 4800. 2. Now in the GPS navigator (Mapking comes as default) set the GPS options to match the above setting. Set GPS selection to manual in your navigator. All in all this phone is worth its price. HTC rocks!!

My old help Nokia 6230, yes you have read it correct, my portable Becker navi and my Toshiba PDA E330. Is this new phone the good choise?   • I have an P3300 for eight months and I'm happy about it. There are a few issues such as the display isn't very clear in direct sun light but noting much. The Windows Mobile interface isn't very good compared to mobile phones but there are applications that solve that such as SPB Mobile Shell (this one is a must). HTC as officially released a free update to WM6 and it worked fine, my device is a little faster. The official update doesn't have the VoIP features enabled by default but this info is available online (http://htcupdate.googlepages.com/). The integrated GPS is very useful, it's nice to have a all in one gadget, if I wanted to buy a new phone now this would still be my choice

  • I purchased the P3300 eight months ago. Functionally, it's a great phone, but... a few weeks ago my screen went white (not blank, white). I was instructed to ship it to Houston for repairs. I had to call them 4 times (and wait 3 weeks) before they told me that I had abused the screen and it would cost me $150 to fix it... or else. Never mind the phone is under warranty. First, I'm a long time IT guy who knows his way around delicate equipment. I've used PDAs for 13 years, and I [I]never[/I] had a problem with a screen. How they came to that conclusion I'll never know. I wrote HTC-America and they apologized for the long wait... but not a word about the alledged "abuse". Take it or leave it, so to speak... So I'm paying $150 because I need the phone. Keep that in mind before you buy another HTC product.

  • I have installed some software on my P3300 called Battery Status and there is an option under Omap where you can increase the processor speed.I have increased mine from 201Mhz to 221Mhz and it is a lot faster.BUT it does drain the battery quicker. The maximum you can increase the processor speed to is 300Mhz but I won't risk it. You can download the Cab file free.Type in Battery Status in the search box on your PC and click on search.

  • the green background can be changed by going to 'today'!!! about the phone, ive had it for sometime now, and i think its the best pda ive owned so far. to get the best performance, make sure you havent got too many applications running at the same time. i had bought the base version and ive downloaded the maps my self. (uk, usa, canada, asia and australia). ive also replaced tomtom version 6 with version 6.3 which has made satellite navigatin a lot faster!! i would certainly recommend the Artemis!!

This is a great phone, use the GPS in my car alot and it works really well, even managed to get a bearing inside my office building, was pretty surprised by that. The negative comment I read before buying were mainly related to processor speed. When running a video (optimized for an iPod) the quality was pretty poor I have to admit, but then I want a business phone not an entertainment centre... for business, this is good, for multi-media I would say it is not that great. Was in France a short while ago and it was great having the GPS in my pocket... worked like a charm. The second biggest "negative" comment is the lack of a keyboard... I prefer the compact size and you get used to using a pen to type (probaby a different case if you write a huge amount of SMS's, but it's good enough for me). Bottom line? I am really pleased with mine.. good solid and compact.

  • DELL MASTER I'm afraid they are not lying to you - T-Mobile do indeed whip out the Wi-Fi on the Compact 3. I only found this out after buying one and calling T-Mobile to ask why I couldn't find it on my device. Clearly just a money-maker forcing us to subscribe to their Web N Walk packages. I wonder if anyone out there has tried a firmware upgrade? If so, does this solve the problem or is the Wi-Fi gone forever?????

  • Actually this p3300 is real bad. All that cheap plastic makes it light and can live with the cheap plasticky feel but Taiwan manufacturer HTC is still using that cheap slow TI OMAP850 200 MHz. You can barely run anything on it. Also does anyone know how to pop out that cute glowing fuzzball to clean it or do you just spit on the little sucker.

  • I was waiting for the Nokia N95, but I ran out of patience and started looking for alternatives. Bought an HTC P3300 and really glad I did. The phone is solid and feels like it is good quality. The GPS works well in a car (unlike the N95 according to the reports I read). If you want movies and interactive games on your mobile, this phone will probably disappoint you because it is a bit slow (testing with an MP4 movie optimized for an iPod, the video was VERY jerky). But then again, I already knew about this from the reports I read. If you are looking for a good business phone with a good GPS, you should take a look at this phone it is excellent.

  • Hi. I have this PDA (T-Mobile MDA Compact III) for a couple days. I bought it in UK, but i live in Lithuania. Now i have a problem. I only now found out that T-Mobile deactivated Wi-fi (wi-fi is one of the reasons why i bought this PDA). Maybe somebody knows any upgrades to do something about the Wi-fi?   • This phone is astonishing, the headset depth is a bit lacking other then that i couldn't be happier this phone works is the worst parts of my university and the tom tom is excellent bluetooth ftp feature is amazing too and sync with headsets is easy as ever only thing it really lacks is a hot swap memory card slot but for whoever is debating to get this fone Definently get it i had the Tytn before this purchase and i loved it but it was just to bulky for my taste Hope my input helped

  • For no gps detected problem in tomtom,Change the GPS settings in control panel in programs to COM 4and hardware to none baudrate 4800.Then go to tomtom,(u need to have a map to configure this I think) try to configure its as NMEA gps receiver,Baud rate 4800 and port to COM4.Then wait for a minute.It will show waiting for a valid GPS signal and then will connect.U can download some GPS data in GPS quick fix through Active Sync for faster connection.   • Great little phone with every thing you want but there is a serious problem with it. The problem is card corruption by some internal/external applications that read or write to the card. This is a common problem which HTC is currently working on. To find out more, do Google search for "card corruption xda orbit" and see what I mean.

  • I've had this HTC for about a week and absolutely love it :) I used the SE P910i before it, which I thought was an excellent phone. Did not upgrade to P990i following the many users' complaints and general lack of s/w for it. Went with a lot of caution for the HTC and don't regret it for a moment now. If you like it buy it!

  • HTC service itself is rubbish. The display was defect after one week in use and instead of giving a new device was told to send it for reparation and it�s now been more than three weeks and still nothing. Before then, no complain yet about the device. Almost everything works so as it should, well some draw backs in the fastness when opening some files.

  • I have it! Excellent device - all is good, the only shortcoming could be sound quality in loudspeakers (sonds rather metallic) and not so cool sound on earphones (if compared to 750i). As to pictures it's quite good for 2 mpix camera - just don't move the phone while taking pic and do not photograph in darkness!!! :) GPS works just marvelously!!!

  • If you are thinking about this being the same as an MDA Compact 3 on TMobile, BEWARE!! TMobile have the MDA3Compact, but it has NO WIFI CAPABILITY - ineed what I've read leads me to believe also that it is not just a WiFi locked Platform, but that the Hardware for Wifi is not present on the TMobile MDA 3 Compact. If like me you read that the HTC 3300 was the same as the MDA 3 Compact on TMobile, you'd be lead to believe it has WIFI and it doesn't - BEWARE!!   • Had the phone for a month now and like it very much. a nice upgrade from the 818 pro, faster start up, easier one hand operation and slimmer. Although it isn't technically much smaller it does make a difference. Have not used GPS yet but looking forward to it. Not sure how fast PDA phones are supposed to be but i have no issues with the speed thus far.

  • Hey guys, I am from OZ and just ordered the Aus version a dopod P800w. In regards to the processor, i cant believe how many people early on that had never even seen the phone were giving negative comments on it because of the processor and the battery. I currently own the imate Jamin which uses the same processor as the P3300, I use it for everything from the playback of full length movies to using Skype and Oziexplorer with a BT GPS. It handles it all with ease. The processor is a dual core processor that uses less power for the same amount of processing power giving you longer battery life, which in turn means you don't need as large a battery and you don't need as large a phone. Looking at the dimensions of this phone it is actually thinner than my Jamin. As for you guys in the UK having wifi disabled that is a travesty, if that happened in Oz we would most likely boycot the the company doing it and I would get the phone sent to a mate outside the UK with wifi enabled. To anyone that has had a Jamin before, how do you find this phone?? What is the Audio quality like in calls and how loud is the ext speaker?? cheers!

  • I used it for about a week and tested almost everything incl. skype 2.2 worked perfect. Opening windows file though explorer takes sometime otherwise the CPU is okay. But I tried to install BullGuard antivirus on the device and it got stucked on today screen. Soft/hard reset couldn't help solve the problem, the touch screen was just not responding any more. It's now been sent for reparation. It's hard to say what caused the problem at the moment, but I'm thinking it's probably a bad lcd touch screen.

  • I made my order today. Here in Athens, Greece, the best price (i ordered it) is at 585Euro, but with no internal memory card or software. Its better this way as i can spend the money in order to buy the 2Gb card i want, and software....ehmmm...plenty of it on the net! i think this pda/phone is great and here in Greece i have read many reports of people saying that is overclocked even at nearly 300MHz with no problems. im expecting it in 2-3 days!

I just expierenced when GPS was on (on my Qtek 9090) and calls are incoming, the screen did not switch to phone mode so I can see who�s calling, and also some times pressing on "recieve call" did not function and thus call was lost. I underline I do not know whether this would be thew case with HTC P 3300, this is just because the producer is the same - HTC.

  • Meo; What are you doing that causes your phone to hang when GPS is on? Ronnie - Mine is on constantly. I never have problems with my phone. I don't know where you can get a cradle for this handset, but don't buy the HTC one - It scratches the outer surface.

  • My comment to Ronnie re.WiFi: WiFi is also important when travelling abroad, as well as as you mentioned many have wireless bradband at home... My conclusion is that overall 3300 is a good choice, however what bothers me is multitasking - I am an owner of Qtek 9090 and satisfied. However purchased small phone as I expierenced missin calls when GPS was on (TomTom 5) as well as many times there was not sound when receiving calls or calling. If this is not the case for 3300 (I mean producer is the same) I am going to buy it a.s.a.p. I am using a phone for business and main functions important to me are: calling, syncronising mails and calender and using GPS. Will appretiate your comments.

  • Ronnie; I assure you. Definately NO PROBLEMS whatsoever!!! I Guarantee that if you buy this phone that you on't have any problems with multi-tasking (GPS+Skype+Excel for example). The handset performs extremely well in multitasking conditions. DO NOT WORRY!

  • Kid: so the CPU issue is absolutely not a factor? I understand that there are problems of watching movies, etc, but all i care is that the CPU will hold on with multi-tasking such as GPS and cellular at the same time while functioning OK also for other 2-3 tasks at the same time (wifi + any 1-2 other functions running at the same times such as Skype+excel, etc)

  • Hey Ronnie; No, I'm not working for HTC :) Basically, not enough internal memory. But then again, I have a 2GB Micro SD card in my handset, so it's not really an issue for me.

  • Ronnie; Yep. Used Skype about 5 minutes ago and I use it pretty much every day. Was using skype whilst receiving e-mail through outlook and also had a spreadsheet open as well as a couple background 3rd party apps... Absolutely no problems whatsoever.

  • In response to Anon's post; Web 'n' Walk's internet connection speed is up to 1.8Mbps. Faster than most WiFi hotspots. I agree that it's pretty bad that the WiFi is disabled as users of this phone will be bound to use the web 'n' walk. But if you look at it from a cost perspective, It's only �7.50 a month. If you compare that to a WiFi provider such as 'The Cloud', for example, they charge you �5.00 for just an hour's worth of internet access. But then again, if you're anything like me, you'll be paying for home use broadband as well- and I have a wifi router. So the fact that I can't use my own 8mbps WiFi in my house is a bit annoying, but what happens when I'm out in the street and want to look up a pub or restaurant quickly? What if I want to do a quick price comparison on Froogle or Pricerunner while I'm out shopping? The broadband in my house is pretty useless when I'm in a shopping center 20 miles from home... When you look at it from that perspective, you can also appreciate that, by taking out the WiFi card, it lowers the overall cost of the handset. So is the removal of the WiFi a bad thing? I mean, I curently have a tarriff which includes the Web 'n' Walk and to be honest, I use it every single day. This means I see the benefits of it on a daily basis. It doesn't bother me that the WiFi is unavailable on this product as I have my Web 'n' Walk... I can understand why someone would be *slightly* annoyed that there's no WiFi on it (I was when I first bought it), but it doesn't bother me anymore... What may look bad on the spec sheet isn't always a bad thing in the real world...

  • Jerry. We're still using the same motherboard system we were using ten years ago. Just because it's two years old doesn't mean it's bad. In response to the post as to which is better - Eten's X500 or HTC's P3300, I would say the P3300. My dad recently bought an X500 and I told him about the debate that was going on at GSMArena about which handset was better, so he suggested we run some tests. Opening Apps, turning on the phone, stability when overclocked, multi-tasking etc. The P3300 came out on top. It's much better at multitasking, it boots up quicker, the GPRS speed is better and gives a more accurate reading and the screen is far more responsive. The X500 seemed to have a tendancy to hang and the qudio uality when making calls wasn't nearly as good as the P3300. Needless to ay, my dad's taking his X500 back. He left the house 5 minutes ago.

  • Hi, I would just like to comment about the disabled WiFi on the "T-Mobile MDA Compact III". 1. That is just ridiculous. On different occasions I was told totally different things by the representatives at T-Mobile UK, few said it's disabled so that customers would use the Web'n'Walk (internet access from T-Mobile) instead of using WiFi. I was also told that this was done to prevent the "T-Mobile MDA Vario II" looking a bit overpriced. I don't know about you, but for some reason the second explanation sounds far more realistic than the first. Please T-Mobile do yourself a favour and ENABLE WiFi on this lovely Phone/PDA, chances are posts like mine and many others are going to be read by hundreds if not thousands of UK residents who will probably get put off from purchasing this phone. No offence to HTC TyTN / MDA Vario II owners. T-Mobile is unlikely to sell as more TyTN's/Vario II's than MDA Compact III. PS: I heard that T-Mobile Austria has NOT disabled the WiFi.

  • In response to Jerry; No, the processor may look slow, but it runs just as fast, if not faster than the Eten X500. My dad bought one and all my apps open up faster than his (I own the P3300). In response to Chad; HTC is probably a stronger brand. With coverage of t-mobile, orange and vodafone, HTC is a trusted brand. I was going to go for the X500 until I saw this. I leave my GPS on all the time as I use TomTom a lot. I didn't use my phone all day yesterday and it was still at 85% charge. The battery life is awesome. The processor is fast andthis is a damn good PDA.

  • In response to Meo's comment: Customers in the UK can only buy this phone from two sources. HTC direct and T-Mobile. I tried to get my phone from HTC and they wouldn't ship to private customers in the UK. Also, all the websites I tried didn't have it in stock. So, I was left with T-Mobile. They don't give the TomTom5 package with their phone the way HTC do. They want to promote their own software - Auto Pilot which is inferior to TomTom 5. I didn't want to pay exter a month for the auto pilot combination and I haven't bought piece of software since 1996, so I just went home and downloaded TomTom 5. So there you go. That's why people are asking for TomTom 5.

  • No problems dude! Glad to see someone else hacked off about the removal of wifi. Ah well... At least it has GPS. ANYWAY! I have noticed a couple of people asking where I got my copy of TomTom5? Well. Not that I'm condoning the action or anything but go to www.thepiratebay.org if you know how to use Torrents. If you don't know how to use them, I can't help you. With regards to your active sync, my computer had the same problem. All I did was hard shut-down (hold the power button in for 6 seconds on the computer) and then re-install the software. Then I restarted my computer and connected it and it worked just fine. Make sure your phone is switched off the first time you connect it. That's what I did and it works just fine. So yeah. I've found that overcvlocking the processor works brilliantly. I've overclocked it to 260MHz and all the programs are still pretty stable, the OS boots quicker and it's a whole lot more responsive. If that makes any sense...

  • Hey kid 303 thanks for the info about the wi-fi, I thought mine had a fault I was gonna ring TMobile tomorrow didn't realise they'd whipped it out. Thats a sneaky way of creaming us for more money! Wifi was one of the main reasons I wanted it too. Bollx! Still a top phone though, tested the satnav on sunday and I can't complain, easy to use and it works! Although I am having some issues getting a connection thru ActiveSync it just won't see my device it's annoying me.....

  • I have Qtek 9090 and was very satisfied with it, now consider buying HTCP3300. Reading the discussion my impression is that there are some people interested in specs (e.g. faster CPU) and others, interested to know how the device performs. My Qtek 9090 was not a good phone, but other functions great. I suppose as PDA P3300 is OK, but how does it function as a phone? What I expierenced with 9090 was that I missed some calls, while working with GPS and also some time I received or made a call but without any sound.

  • In response to the previous comment; Install the Satav - It's brilliant. Because T-Mobile have aquired a version of CoPilot, it's been designed to work on the your handset (P3300). I got mine with the Web and Walk option. I dwnloaded a cracked version of TomTom 5 for Windows Mobile 5 and that works perfectly. I can understand what people are saying about the processor, but I hardly notice any lag on the device at all. I'm just annoyed that T-Mobile (the only network in the UK to sell this handset aside from buying direct from HTC) have removed the WiFi...

  • Got this handset from T-Mobile UK with Sat Nav package, free online on a Flext 50 contract. All I can say is it's Brilliant and I'd recommend it to anyone. I'm yet to install and test the Sat Nav, but the other features work flawlessly. As other users have said, the processor could do with a little more oomph, but this is still without doubt the best phone I ever had by a long way.

  • I have had many phones. Far too many to list! I will acquire about 8 new phones a year. The most important aspect for me is the RF, Clarity and must have a loud volume. The rest is a nice have. The Razr V3 had met all the criteria after you modd the operating system. The HTC P3300 has met all the minimal criteria. I must admit after three weeks it is the best phone I have ever had. It is small and functional and has all the business function PC elements one needs. The processor is fine with NO overclocking however a little faster would be nice. I must say it again it is the best phone I have ever had.

  • Why is everyone slating the battery? I mean, come on... Normal people plug their phone into the wall to charge overnight... And even if your charger breaks, you can still charge it via powered USB... My battery hasn't run out once... Oh, and i hardly use the trackball, I use the stylus. But when i HAVE used the trackball, it feels good, accurate and responsive.

  • I can't belive how good this phone is. I was VERY weary about buying it due to the 200 CPU as I had a KJAM priviously which was a big disserpointment after the original JAM. I had decided on the P3600 as a replacement but when I went to the shop it wasn't available and the 3300 really cought my eye (looks so much better in the flesh). When I played with it I was suprised how quick it was, I was amazed to find virtually ALL the aplications running in the backround. Its at least as quick (if not quicker) as the JAM and a world apart from the KJAM. The next pleasant suprise is the Battery life. I'm not a very heavy user but I rarely got more than two days out of the KJAM. I'm now getting at least five with the 3300. Most impressive is the life when using the GPS. Every device I've had would die after 2 hours, in fact I rarely used them without keeping them on charge whilst in the car. Starting with a nearly full charge, I used the 3300 for two hours and still had over 50% left, enough for a couple days of regular use. Don't be put off by spec sheet, it works!

  • A very good phone, but those of us needing more power will need to look elswhere (as alreay mentioned Asus P535 or Eten X500, etc..). For me the disappointing factors are: - Slow CPU, - The propriatory audio headset socket (no normal 2.5 or 3.5mm, so you are forced to use the bundled headset), - No hot-swap for memory card, - The new mouse trackball is likely to break after some time, - Week battery.

  • Hey look at that folks, who would have guessed an HTC fan would be satisfied with adequate hardware that just meets their present average need. Fortunately, thanks to their review and someone else who was honest enough to allude to the HTC's poor battery selection for things like wi-fi, the rest of us who will need more power can look for other choices like the mentioned Eten Glofish X500 with a better 400Mhz processor and 1530mAh battery or the Gigabyte g-Smart i300 with a 512Mhz processor, 256MB memory (double the amount of its two competitors) and supposedly has a spare battery included. Though specs are specs, will wait for head to head comparisons then can decide. Oh, right, the HTC fan can probably laugh that the Eten X500 and Gigabyte i300 are still unavailable right now and does not market that unique glowing RollR (TM) trackball.

  • I've had this phone or about a week now and I've found that it's been really cool. I like the design, the nice big screen and the touch sensitivity is really precise once you get the calibration sorted. I used to have the Motorola Razr V3 and was really hacked off with it because of the lack of card slot, the poor memory and the ringing volume was really quiet. I don't really need a phone of this caliber but I was so fed up of having a phone that does nothing, I wanted to get a phone that does everything! People on here have criticised the processing power. I, myself have no problems with it. I run TomTom 6 on it quite a lot, I make and recieve calls, send and recieve texts and i have a few appointments, calender inputs etc. Nothing major. I'm not running spreadsheets on the thing, so I can't comment on that. As far as I can see, the processor is pretty fast and i've had no problems with it so far! I'm with t-mobile, so I took out the web n' walk option. It's really fast for a mobile phone, and as long as I can check Penny Arcade and my emails on it, im cool! The camera is pretty good, and when i'm uploading my 2mp photos to my PC, it's really quick. The active sync is a really good feature. The navigation wheel is good. It clicks as you turn it for added precision. I don't tend to use the ball at all. It just looks pretty when it's all glowing blue! Oh yeah, the phone looks sexy as fook too! On the whole, I'd say this is an awesome phone! I'm really really pleased with it and from now on, i'm not having anything else other than HTC ever again! I would recommend this phone to anyone!

  • I have it - it is a good PDA but like all WM5 devices the phone interface has a lot to be desired. Ignore the slow CPU comments the unit works just fine! and performs well- I would recommend it. Round up then:- Camera is ok and not great no flash etc GPS aquires quickly (via internet app quick GPS) Wifi slams the battery - but what do you expect The bundled car kit will scratch the case - get a brodit one.

  • I read alot of info on the OMAP designer website, its true its not designed for multi tasking ie running video, gps, gsm, all at the same time. Specs show it should be good enough. However look at Eten's X500, good samsung 400mhz with same specs as this HTC P3300. Anyone has a P3300 and used it yet. Please give us your review. I am also concerned about the 200 mhz speed.

  • Not me! But others can preorder it for $699. Not only the CPU ... but the battery also - 1200mAh will not do the job for a GPS/PDA. These days even an average PDA has to have at least a 1500mAH battery! How about buying a bery decent GPA for $300-$400 and a decent phone for another $200. You can get a Motorola Q for $99. Or just burn your money!

  • Be aware, this week cpu pda wont be able to lunch some popular aplication such skype. I dont really understand HTC policy on this device. if it wasnt for the CPU this pda/phone will rock the market. it could be the ipod of the pda...but..200mhz procesor....im sorry guys but dismised...and if any manager from HTC is reading this post, "you lost a very good oportunity, maybe next year when you think over about this mistake."

  • Slow CPU spec. The Omap 200Mhz processor seems as a bad choice, but maybe (hoping to the end) it performs acceptable. It could be the perfect MDA...   • Check out Gigabyte's g-Smart i300. Very similar specs, 416 MHz processor, 256 MB Flash, miniSD. Also Asus' P535, although no EDGE on that.

  • For those in need of more info for this PC pocket, here is a great link on it: Few things to note, the weight is only 126 gramms which is unheard of for a size of this unit. It is also only 16.8 mm in thickness which is again one of the thiniest units around. The only other PDA unit that is similar is the O2 Orbit. HTC comes with the pre installed AKU 3.0 software kit and TOMTOM Navigator 6. Something very few other PDA units have. I did a comparison wih the Orbit from the same site and have the link here for you; As you can see alot of the specifications are identical accept for very few little things. I believe that these 2 units are on top of the class as far as weight, size, performance, style and being GPS ready.

  • 200MHz sux, do not even condider this junk. The fact that the company try to hide basic tech info about their own product is totally unexeptable - I guess companies imitating Sony and Dell now.

But who wud wanna spend money just for the looks specially if u r planning to buy a PDA. Coming to the most critical point in the discussion. I just Googled the phone n found it duz hav a 200 Mhz processor which again is the same that my phone has. And i'd say its not bad but a fairly slow processor compared to the ATOM.   • About its processor speed (200MHz): And possible lack of WLAN: So, it might be weak and common but with a new and nice plastic case (at least first version for 2006). If all these Pocket PCs (and smart phones) on market are manufactured in the same area (and the hardware designed by the same people), I don�t wonder why there is no competition and slow progress.

I really do have difficulty understandıng your statement "no software support"???. How could any computer (one this one is) have more software support. Please write comments when you're sober :)
