Sadly, there is no choice... If you want to stick to W10m you should know the support will end in December of this year, after that there is no guarantee of anything and that includes how much time you will be able to install apps or to use the Windows recovery software. It will become abandonware like Symbian or Palm OS.

a very weak point in windows phones is that when you download a 3th party app on that,other factory apps may be affected and malfunction by the 3th party apps,This is the main reason for your phone and you need to delete all of the 3th parties apps specially as you may know they seldom update their apps!!therefore the apps can not sync themselves to the new updates of windows patches! Another reason may be the new windows updates itself!sometimes the updates produce malfunctions!which usually may be corrected by the next coming update patch!I hope this would be helpful.

Similar with my phone, and i replace with new battery. But stop at 82%. I tried charge with many charger with many ampere, i guess max is 2.4a , is the samr stop at 82%. I tried charge battery manually not with phone, success up to 92% and i stopped (because my time is limitted) So i think probably it is issue software with lumia 1520 at win8.1denim I got info at second sale at my country, who sell lumia 1520 good at all aspect excep batterry only up to 82%, SAME WITH MINE May i will try to reinstalling all from zero

They were/are beautiful phones running Windows. This OS is more fluid than android that is really only for children in their 20-s! This phone is supported but you must upgrade to Win 10 to be able to install from store all apps you need fb, messenger, twitter etc. They are not anymore supported by Microsoft in Win 8, 8.1

On this phone, first you need to download an App called Windows Preview (or something like that...the icon is a Keylock from Microsoft), then you need to select the kind of updates (I recommend slow, It´s more stable) and then the phone restart to download windows 10 Over The Air (wifi recommended). This is one of the best hardware phone, solid, responsive, pleasing. unfortunately, after upgrading to windows 10, it is by far the worst software ever, very buggy and erratic responses. gallery fails to open from first time, apps are loading, select while I scroll. It is not the fault of NOKIA, the giant. It is the fault of MS and Win10. I bought it 30 month ago, and I was very happy with it and enjoyed the upgrade to windows 10 but I can not accept the shortcomings of win10 anymore.

My 1520 has been a valiant servant for me since I got it in 2013/14. Unfortunately I have to replace it - Instead of going for a new brand ; I'm going for a used 1520. I can't depart from it, the camera and video have been the best for work and pleasure. I've taken all my kids sporting events and people can't believe the clarity and definition it provides. My music library is at my hands wherever I go. There is not enough positive remarks I can make about Cortana and the tools this phone gives me.

Had the RM-938 (1520.3 aka unicorn version) for over four years now. Original screen cracked and I had to have it replaced but other than that, it's been running perfectly. 4G LTE from T-Mobile is decent (monthly; no annual plan) and with this new Windows 10 update, everything feels up-to-date again. Not future-proof by any means, but everything I want - great camera, decent speeds, basic apps - it has.

Hello, this problem is generally affecting some windows phones (mine is also Lumia 1520) after installing some windows 10 mobile updates. My phone did the same, and after sometimes the problem was fixed spontaneously without doing any thing, just kept trying updating it and changed the ring from fast to slow and then from slow to fast. I have no explanation, Microsoft has the explanation but they do not say anything, they just keep us in the darkness.

I have been using the 1520 for over 2 years and it is head and shoulders better than any phone I've ever had. I've looked at a lot of new phones and haven't been able to justify replacing it yet. The Camera works flawlessly, the music plays great on the speaker, you have radio, 1080p Gorilla Glass. Others are just now catching up (it had the "edge" screen way before others started adopting it). I agree with the earlier poster about Nokia. They had it all figured out way before these other guys caught up.

I have kept my 1520 up to date beyond anniversary (today march 21 2017) so a great phone keeps getting better. Cool camera updates, nice Office suite, Skype. One Note is awesome. I use my phone mainly for work, so I don't care about a zillion games. For work oriented people it is excellent especially when coupled with OnDrive and a desktop Windows 10 PC, everything is available. The radio is gone, but you can download a free one - it takes 5 minutes

WIndows runs very well on my 1520. I'm running the latest build and have been very satisfied with it. I was going to buy the HP Elite x3, a very good Windows phone, but I decided to wait because I have so many accessories for the 1520 and the HP phone is pretty limited to what HP sells. Just on got unit 2nd hand (battery problem shutdown when power still 50%, need a replacement), and my opinion the UI and handling is similiar to PC with win10. Hi, I've got this model since 2014 and I was quite satisfied. Only one issue is spoiling my happiness: There is no ability to install Google Chrome Browser. There are some difficulties regarding attachment viewing. Generally, this is the great device, but with minor SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. BY myself WINDOWS BASED phones are not able to compare to ANDROID based phones. Less software and almost no updates. I was forced to get ANDROID based phone and this item was SAMSUNG GALAXU NOTE 4. i´m owning the Nokia N9, Lumia 1020 and the Lumia 1520. All three are unique milestones from Nokia. Everybody, except Nokia, knows, that switch from Meego to Windows Phone would be there end. I´can imagine how beautiful it would be if Meego runs smoothly on the Lumia 1520. But it is what it is today, Apple Rules with perfect combination of Hard+Software, Samsungs tryin everything, perfect Hardware, bad Android. And the few Lumia Users out there lovin the phones till Microsoft will end Windows 10 Mobil oneday.

Hi there, Mine is working now. I tried this 1- Install "Windows Device Recovery Tool" on your PC ( I did it on my Laptop) 2- Disconnect everything from your PC including Mouse, this was the case with my phone 3- Launch the above tool then connect your device using its original cable then the tool should detect your device. If not, click My device was not detected then choose Lumia. It should be detected your device now and a firmware will be available for your device to down. There will be a warming message but please don't care about it and just process the update. After finishing the update with the tool, please disconnect it from the pc then connect to its charger then it's good to go. Your phone will be fully working as normal. Hope this work for you. They don"t have care centre in my city but in the capital city, Phnom Penh. I called to them and they said they fixed the same problem on L1320 and asked me to wait they will call me back. I didn't call from them until now. I think it would probably work if i have a fully charged battery to replace to continue the process but too bad, they don't have battery. Nearly same thing happened to me. After installation i stuck on win10 logo. I gave my phone to nokia care. After 15min they repaired my phone. But my all previous data were gone. Hope this will be helpful.

Hello guys, Please help me. My Lumia 1520 gets stuck in the final process when i update it to official windows 10 because of its battery is empty. Before updating, i charged it to 100% already and I didn't think it requires to that much power. Now when i charge it the phone automatically turns on and it continues the update process and about 5 seconds it turns off i think because of the update require much more power than it can get from the charging. I tried all possible solution I am familiar with, soft reset, hard reset and finally, Window Device Recovery Tool but my device was not detected. I have no idea now. I've had the 1520 since 2014. I've upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 and now to Windows 10. There was no camera issues from 8 to 8.1, but I did notice a change from 8.1 to 10, but only in some apps. The default camera is actually better, but some apps have camera artifacts. Overall, I recommend upgrading, but there is a slight adjustment period while you learn the nuances.

Lumia 1520 has limited 4G Frequency Bands. Check the 4G Frequency of your Mobile Network, there is every possibility that it would not be supported by Lumia 1520.

All batteries are always removable. When they mention non-removable, it means it can't be removed easily by just opening the back cover. A qualified & experienced mobile technician with the correct tools can remove & replace the battery. I have had my battery replaced recently.

A good industry practice is to support the product till it's working life, which for a mobile phone is approx 4 to 5 years. The battery is one such spare item which runs out faster then the phone itself & needs replacement.

Hi, Even I was facing the same issue, when I charge the battery even for 100% and start using the camera, the phone switches off and says critical battery or after some time if I turn on the battery it says 20 or 30 % battery, even if I browse any videos on YouTube or even work with my phone for about 30 minutes then also the phone used to turn off. So in order to fix it, first I did a format to my phone and after booting it, first I went to SETTINGS>>UPDATE & SECURITY>>WINDOWS INSIDER PROGRAMME, then clicked on "stop the preview of insider builds" for 5 days. Then I charged my battery and tried to work on camera and watched videos on youtube and it seems to be working perfectly fine, even the build was win10. So I am sure that there is some patch or update in windows 10 which is causing the problem because in order to check if its a build or update problem, I tried to again resume the windows insider programme and tried to upgrade it again, and I saw that after upgrading again I faced the same issue, so I again followed the same above first steps and issue got fixed. So pls try the above thing and check if it works for you. Note: while you format make sure that you select the format option as the oldest format option to begin with. Thanks

Had a similar problem. The Microsoft Service Centre in Mumbai confirmed it was a battery Problem but did not have a spare one in stock in any of their stores in India. also checked in hongkong streets but could not find one. Finally got a spare battery from a small time dealer in Mumbai for Rupees 1,500/= (USD 23/=). the performance of the new battery is great. It lasts for approx. 2-days with average usage. SHAME ON MICROSOFT/NOKIA FOR NOT PROVIDING SPARESOF THEIR PREMIUM PRODUCTS.

it is indeed a great phone to have. I have already owned it for nearly 3 yrs, still works like a champs. But due to the lack of attention from microsoft on its mobile division, i feel like lumia user had been left out in the windows 10 project. Thus, i am considering a switch to android. Gonna have this phone as my secondary device in order to keep track on W10M development. sincerely hope that microsoft could pay more attention to W10M as there is still a lot of catching up to do and potential for the OS to grow.

I have had this phone for two years now. Started on windows 8.1 which had serious issues in my opinion including the rebooting without warning mentioned in other posts. I now run it on windows 10 and it works much better. The battery life is pretty much the same except when sharing my wifi and with certain games but that was so with 8.1 OS. I am that pleased with the phone that my 24 month contract is now ended and I'm switching to a sim only that's going to cost my a fifth of the monthly outlay and I'm keeping the phone going. Another thing is that i have used Nokia phones since 1996 when they were very different and this is by far the best phone they have made in it's class. Just a shame they didn't have an Android version when it was first available but hey-ho.

At 57% levl, it suddenly shuts down , so i would think it's either battery problem (wear & tear) or digitizer problem. Mani, understand your needs first from the phone if you need fancy apps this isn't the phone for you, i think after 3 years its still over priced phone, you can get a Used device on OLX but, you need to realise the phone doesn't work to its best after the Windows10 update their is drastic battery life consumption doest offer battery backup of 2days with heavy usage while it had the earlier version of 8.1 the phone tends to freeze or in some cases reboot by itself because of memory issues (the above related issues I've faced on my NL1520) But the phone has some other very impressive feature of having 5 dedicated mic for stereo recording as well as a beautiful 20mp camera with great and a powerful flash and good loudspeaker. The screen is good ( I say good because at current market price i'll get a QHD screen) the phone is old but its on of Nokia best phones ever made. I would advice you to have a look at the Sony Z3 in comparison as you get a better OS, more apps, Good battery life, great screen but a smaller one, and an awesome camera which is in par with the NL1520 and offer ip58 water and dust resistance, which means you can take awesome under water photography with the Sony Z3, for upto 30mins. I'm not impressed with the Low light photography of the Sony z3 when you see the image quality on a larger screen. Amoled screen tends to over saturate the colors and at times its difficult to see the amount of noise on a small screen.

Dude, I've moved to a Android device I hate android as an OS very unstable and the amount of advertisement inside apps can drive a sane person insane, I bloody hate using android apps for a advert free app I have to pay. I cannot say the same about windows apps except for some apps there's little adverts poping every now and then, but if you have used facebook on windows phone and insta6 your opinion about instagram apps on android would be worse. I play some games on android phone while connected to wifi or 4g after every level I pass there's a bloody ad which can get so annoying. Also, with reference to of your later quote about they did it again shit, Android is no less the android line of One devices cannot handle Kitkat update properly without crashing or freezing or without at-least 2 reboots because of low RAM forget marshmallow update for starters, at least that way Microsoft is making a point to inform users/customers why the udpate cannot work on their existing phones. Every OS update needs a specific hardware compatibility if the RAM cannot support the OS whats the point having it on the device just to know your phone freezes or reboots like its nobody's business. Of all the phone 8 phones in the tier 1 and tier 3 of window bugetphones high spec'd phone have received the window 10 update from Windows 8. ML640-DS, ML640XL, NL730/735, ML535, ML1320, ML540, ML638, ML650, NL1520, NL1020, NL830, NL930, I mean seriously stop whining dude and move on.

Its quite simple, just check with the service guys is the motherboard having issues or the entire module, ask them to check the camera module and the screen on another 1520 to check if its working, they'll be having lot of spare devices that are come for repairs. Tell them you want the phone back but all the following part in the order the 20mp camera module, front lcd IPS screen with the digitiser on the screen and the nokia lumia 1520 housing back and front pannel without the motherboard. Please make sure youre in the service centre while the modules are being checked on other devices. (Many time they, say no but, just speak to that guy tell, that for a phone that cost 10k not worth spending 28k on the motherboard.)

Check with a local technican but, I recommend you give at the Nokia priority service centre because they give you warranty of 6months and you can also purchase extended warranty (you need to check if they still offering them.) The reason I'm advising you to go to the NPriority is because when then the replace the screen or the motherboard you are assured a new or and not a refurbished motherboard the local market which you get may be refurbished or even which may have a technical issue which they may not provide replacement at a later time so there's a recurring cost, there's no point spending 10k and they having a recurring cost everytime something goes wrong. And many a cases I've noticed the local mobile repair brands when they connect the motherboard to the LCD screen or vice-versa they lay pressure in such a way that you'll notice white background spots when the screen goes white or the theme is changed to Cyan blue in such cases your vibrator stops working. You'll get a second hand phone on OLX or Quikr these days for 9000INR, my suggestion is sell the phone by parts like the back pannel the LCD and the camera module you'll make more than 10k, and get a working phone in the market.

Ajay, there's nothing much you can do most phones that are sold on ebay and which are AT&T branded devices are all refurbished devices, I've had similar experiences buying devices for half the price from ebay.com. Most of these devices which are sold from the sites like ebay or the one you purchased offer only 6days warranty that's how long it take to deliver the device and by the time it lands in your hand the warranty has expired. The only option I know is to go show it to a Nokia Service centre, they gonna charge you 299buck only for checking, ask them to figure out the issue in most cases the motherboards on these refurbished phone are screwed up or have a short life or one of the features dont work, if the motherboard is gone I would suggest ask the service centre to rip the phone apart like the battery and LCD module and the back case, selling them you can recover more than half the amount you spend on buying the phone.

So, its been 3 months since I gave away my Nokia Lumia 1520 for a OPO and the only 3things I miss about my NL1520 is the bigscreen, the camera for low light shots and day light shots and finally watching movies using a few specific apps. I do have a ML640 dual sim as a secondary device. I was hoping atleast with the udpate of Window10 the phone would have worked better but, I noticed the apps are still lacking in many folds windows doesnt support any other office tools like WPS or Office suite neither do they offer a pdf converter like they do in WPS which is slowly getting frustrating as I use my ML640. In spite of my review about how smartly certain apps in Windowstore make more sense in comparison to Android's Playstore my outlook is slowly changing infavor of Android, I'm an Artist Manager & Event Manager and travel a lot and making good use of my 6inch screen portable device is quite critical while owning a NL1520 for about 4years I've always had to rely on my laptop to do some critically important task which I could have done on the fly, which wasn't possible with a windows device for quite a long time, since my exchange program, I've noticed I feel right at home and relaxed even while travelling as I can do the same set of tasks on my Android device and find apps that are appropriate to handle my so mentioned tasks with ease, I can covert docs and excel sheets to pdf without being worried about going to my office look frustrated which is awesome. They are a few things which I still love about WM OS is the very neat and simple interface which I miss on Android, which is a multi-step process to anything, the phone book of the WM10 is much better than what is being offered on Marshmallow I cannot put my finger on alphabet to find names under each alphabet instead i need to stretch my finger to the search and type the name to find a contact, which works beautifully on the Windows device, the battery life is much better on a Windows Device when compared to any Android device. But, the app drawer in the windows store is beginning to show its age and lack of interest by Microsoft to developers is going to take a toll on the over all sales of Microsoft mobile devices or any windows run devices for that matter. I wish Android could work on a contact app similar to that of Windows but, no problem thanks to Nokia's Z launcher its much better performing. Anybody whose planning to buy a Nokia Lumia 1520 please be sure to buy this phone if you love taking snaps and posting them on instagram or fb or any other social media sites some apps may intrigue you but, the over all experience would be heat breaking.

Well, I finally got mine, my own Nokia Lumia 1520, it was a bit pricey for what i was used to handling before, however it was all worth it. I had been looking for this phablet for almost a year and now I got it, and god damn I love it. Its all and beyond everything I was expecting, Its basically a beast, my first flagship phone ever. Only drawback I find is that I'm currently running Windows 10 on it and it drains battery like hell eventhough it's got a huge battery 3400. Overall, I'm more than happy to own this beautiful piece of tech. Hope they release the final windows 10 soon for my flagship.

You're damn right. Google PlayStore is all about quantity but the quality of apps is horrible. While on Windows Phones the apps are no doubt lesser but all of them work better. I recently updated my 1520 to Windows 10 Mobile and I was quite surprised to find the ScummVM app in Store. And the most astonishing fact is that it was the latest 1.8.0 version of ScummVM while Android is still stuck on old 1.7.0 release. Not only that it had more options like resolution scaling, texture smoothening which aren't available on the Android version of the app and unlike the Android version of ScummVM the sound on Windows 10 Mobile version doesn't crack even at high gain.

Its a software bug in the windows 10 OS, I recommend you to opt out from upgrading your OS to 10 until there's a bug fix for the battery drain. For the moment, my advice to you is to download the window device Recovery Tool and downgrade to Window 8.1 denim.

So many ppl keep talking about not many apps on Windows Store, I get bugged I recently exchanged my Nokia lumia 1520 for OPO-1+1 device and noticed except for a few apps which work on Android OS most other apps are just utter crap to sum up everything in simple words. For starters, there's 5 version of Youtube downloader app in Android Appstore but of them only one app actually work while the rest is crap, secondly the amount of advertising in the application can drive people insane I hate using an Android OS, in comparison Windows Mobile OS has ads but they don't pop up like they do in Android OS. Some vitals app are missing from Windows Store like snapchat, Instagram, facebook, messenger (Fb-available on window store, but aint that customizable like on android.) WPS office which is better than, Microsoft office and allows the user to save files as PDF which isn't available on MobileOffice offered by windows phone. Then I also hate the fact that I cannot download a game and play on the device without adding an account with Google Play services which can get irritating. Some apps work much better than on Window OS than that of Android OS for example: Facebook Page Manager Pro, Whatsapp, 6Tag, they have superb integration on Windows OS than you find on any android os. Thirdly, Android suck in battery life Lollipop or Marshmallow, every time you keep your hands on the screen and type you'll notice that battery charge going down and when the battery level reaches 50% or less the battery begins to drain faster which is quite strange and I've noticed it on many android devices like samsung, oneplus 2, Xiaomi, LG G3 and even on HTC devices, that's kind of freaky. I thoroughly enjoyed watching my favourite movies and tv series on my earlier NL1520 with a few specific apps and after switching to Oneplus One i've noticed finding a decent app that offered me live streaming of recent movies and tv series in next to impossible, apps like boxtv is utter crap, the same goes for apps like Hotstar which offers some decent movies and series streaming but, you don't have access to HBO content or Netflix original content.

Hi All, Finally got my Windows 10 update on 17-March-16 in Mumbai, India for my Lumia-1520 (RM937). Advise to all "D'ONT GO FOR IT", it is is simply HORRIBLE & lack the good features of 8.1. It took more the 3-hours & almost 150% of Battery life, ensure that the phone is on charge while the updates are on. Having many issue:- 1) All the email tiles are same & you have to ensure that the respective email is selected for each tile. There is a tendency for all tiles to reset to Microsoft Hotmail account. 2) The People (Contact) Tile photo scroll is ugly, the 8-1 was far superior. 3) The People (Contact) photos are very small as compared to the earlier 8.1. Also the individual contact details has a horrible pink background without the option to change it. 4) Lost all the "Live Photo" features on the earlier photos. 5) IN WhatsApp, the Keyboard overlaps the input text box, hence can't use WhatsApp in Portrait mode. 6) The Keyboard does have a new Mouse feature, but the text language selection has been set on the Space-bar. Not practical. 7) The Photo Apps Tile does not have the Scroll Feature. 8) The Photo Apps does not show the Albums, especially those on the SD card. 8) The Windows Store Apps has a im-practical layout. 9) Lost all my Favourites on the Internet Explorer. In short Microsoft has done a very very bad job. However for those who are still interested to get the upgrade, the process is as follows:- a) First take a backup. b) You must have lately got an update on Update Advisor. It checks & confirm the phoes windows 10 upgrade compatibility. c) Check your System Update status. It will indicate New Upades are available. d) Ensure that you have a good & fast data signal, plug ypur phoee for charging. Finally be ready for all the headaches & frustrations post the upgrade. My cousin has this phone and we searched every nook and cranny of the internet to find any info for win 10 upgrade/update. There will not be one for 1520 even though it is a really powerful phone. This phone surely ain't that bad, of course I'm not fond of big phones but my mama uses it and she is quite happy with it, she's old and big screen phones like these feel comfy for her eyes, I just got one doubt, is this phone getting Windows 10 in future or there ain't gonna be any updates for this phone. Everybody who are using lumia 1520 windows 10 preview build get back to stock denim update using windows device recovery tool . I was using preview build windows 10 10586 or 1511 suddenly my phone started acting weird like phantom touch, unresponsive touch, phone boot crash and Heating very bad was fed up with this so i used windows device recovery tool to recover my lumia back to denim and it is working fine now and hopefully wait for official windows 10 update for lumia 1520..... anybody have idea about windows 10 update releade date for lumia 1520 in india please kindly share.

I had seen that issue first when i tried to install Win 10 Developer Preview.. WHen the progress bar starts incrementing, it goes into an endless cycle of reboot. But I am able to overcome that.. The issue was the phone heating up. (Mine is lumia 1520 AT&T). Once the gearwheel + started up, I put the phone into a ziploc bag and kept in the freezer, check on it every minute or so.. and it keeps progressing. I did this several times till now, and this seems to be my only working solution. (Later on, I leave the phone overnight into a bagful of silica gel packs, to "dry up" any moisture it could've gathered.. just to be safe) Hope this helps..

L1520 is as good as of today, only its resale is bad, because MS bad reputation. Now is time to launch 1550 in top specs. Even 950 series are no match, both hardware software wise. Hope they get jitters of he days to come, when NOKIA launches Andriod sets n 3rd qtr. Nobody will ever think of even asking for Windows 10. Hey, dont worry its a issue with the touch sensitivity. If your still covered in the warranty Microsoft will replace the devices with a new one. My phone too had an issue I got it exchanged for a new one by the Co. If you don't have a warranty you probably would need to change the touch screen panel altogether.

I dint think so either, the phone is a 19mp snapper only in 4:3 ratio and 16mp in 16:9 ratio. nokia is bluffing us. there is no 16MP on this phone. there is never been a single image taken from 1520 is 16MP. everything is 5MP with resolution of 3078X1728. if it 20MP or 5MP + 16MP, of course the resolution will become higher such as 5000X3200, 4800X3300. other phone like samsung,HTC,iphone,lenovo are never hide the MP of their phones. The heating problem and low battery life in WM10 is because the OS had a transition period from beta version to the original one. I also had this with 2 of my lumias and it is okay now.once we get used to W10 its way better that W8

Battery consumption is greater on windows 10 as it has more features than 8.1. Windows 10 looks nicer, but its still a bit buggy and 8.1 runs far smoother and faster. I personally prefer a smoother faster experience.

IPhone 6 plus or any other IPhone for their specific users is best. Unfortunately they are status consious and dont know what a briliant phone 1520 is. Way ahead of Iphone, samsung, sony, htc. As a Windows Phone user since years, I obviously recommend the Lumia 1520 cause I simply don't know much about the G4 except that is looks good. Reason 1: altough this is a two year old phone, the specs are good enough for the major Windows 10 mobile upgrade. Reason 2: the 20MP camera is still among the best and photos are very good. Reason 3: the battery life is sublime. Reason 4: it's personal, but the 1520 looks good. It's big yes, but slim, and very Nokia.

Hi Rohan! Sorry your 1520 is having the dreaded screen touch problem.I had the same frustration as you. I have just had the touch screen and digitizer changed ($110 for the unit and $25 for labour. The unit comes as a single assembly and a good phone technician can do the job in 20 minutes. Contrary to what you may hear in this forum, this is purely a hardware issue, usually happening after warranty period and affecting some 1520's only. The 1520 is a good phone but the touch issue has scared me away from the upcoming 940XL.

Just downloaded windows 10 Build 10581 and the web rendering and stability issue are still there! I give up Microsoft! The only advantage Windows Phone has over Android is a beautiful smooth text typing! If you don't want to fix the basics then what do we need Windows Phone for? Still typical Windows Phone issues: ~During the webpage scrolling, animations and text on the page are disappearing and then appearing again few seconds after you stop scrolling (many webpages) ~ Many web pages still don't display properly (text overlay animation or vice verse, text don't fit display parameters, some pages jumping or blinking too much) ~Many pages still freeze during the scrolling I'm not even going to talk about way more uglier interface of windows 10 mobile comparing to ugly enough windows mobile 8.1 MICROSOFT: Optimize your mobile operating system software or stop producing phones at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

new to the form, and wanted to update that I have Nokia 1520 RM-940. i have a 128GB sd card as well. last weekend I installed windows 10 build 10581 there newest mobile upgrade. Probably because several previous builds were skipped over the upgrade took awhile to complete. it is now working normal i think, and i love this bigger phone from from my previous 635. I use Claro in Central Colombia One note i wanted to mention is i read mircosoft is saying the windows 10 mobile upgrade will require a minimum of 8 GB internal memory. So this will eliminate some of the older nokia models. i also just ordered a new 1520 RM-937 yellow model with 32 GB internal memory and i will use a 128GB external micro sd card.

No you won't find any "Google" apps here, but there are equivalent Microsoft apps that compensate for it. For Gmail you've got Outlook, for Google Maps you've got HERE maps, and so on. For Youtube you're gonna need a third party app though, but the ones found on the WP store are wayyy better than the official on Android or iOS, I'm talking about Tubecast. I've had this phone for 2 years and the only problem I have with it is that sometimes app equivalents just don't exist, although this is not true for basic apps which are all perfectly fine. My phones display only has a few scratches and no cracks after 2 years, though it may be because my phone has never suffered a substantial drop. And no, I never use a case, not on any of my phones. This phone has been one of the best I've ever owned, and your entire experience on this phone will depend on whether or not you can compromise with Windows Phone, because the hardware is damn near perfect.

Had this phone for about 3 months. Painful experience. - If you're coming from Android/IOS get used to not having any of the basic applications (Google Maps, Youtube etc.) There are counterfeit versions, which are mostly just run inside an IE session. - I haven't found any decent media player application. The default, Xbox Music app has horrible navigation logic that will just frustrate you to no end. VLC is the best one I've found, but even it is extremely counter intuitive. - No USB tethering - The LCD is EXTREMELY fragile. If you have this in the pocked of your jeans and they are even remotely tight. Be careful. I had this in my pocket, got in my car, and got out and the LCD was just wrecked. Cost me $250AUD to replace. - Build quality is sub-par. Before my LCD break incident the glue from the screen started to wear off, which mean visible gaps had appeared around the edge of the screen. Fluff/hair/dirt from my pockets then lodged itself in-between the screen and the LCD. Looks like a Petri dish. Gross. - Bing maps suck. Most of the time it wont recognize street numbers and just bring up the street, which makes it pretty much useless when trying to navigate somewhere on a main road. Also no public transport integration like Google. I should say though, in the instances where it does work, the Nokia Here+ offline maps are really handy when you are going somewhere where you know there will be no signal. Pro's? - The battery life is out of this world. Coming from iPhone 4, 4s, 5, Nexus 4 and 5... its spectacular. You could go three days with minimal charging of solid messaging and video stream. - The camera. The Lumia's in general are pretty renowned for the awesome camera and this is no exception.

With regards to your issue of touch sensitivity / random touch.. Initially i didn't have that issue.. But got that later on. It turned out that it was water vapour inside.. as i used to keep the phone in the bathroom (listening to song while I soak in the bathtub). To fix it, I left it a few nights inside a ziploc bag full of silica gel packs. And teh issue is completely sorted out.. never saw that again in teh past several months..

No it does not slow down.. as it was when i bought it... android is a huge problem there...and ive seen people talk about apps ... i dont understand why.... i need only following apps 1. skype 2. whatsapp 3. viber 4. fb 5. mapping... remember on the windows phone you can download maps of all countries if you want and you dont need internet connection.. it works all the time. 6. emailing 7. Very good camera Problems... In 6 months a spot came on the screen the phone was sent for replacement and they did not do it in stipulated time so i was given another handset... the handset i was provided has problem with image stabilization in video.. which the original set did not... the whole video shakes... other than that no problems with the windows phone... the considering while buying a 40k phone was that it did not become useless after 2 years... i dont see any need to change the phone right now.. other than shaky video. When ever i change it... this goes into the car as a music player and 6 inch gps device. Makes a much more sensible buy compared to any android device.

I've been using 1520 for the last 7months. As a longterm android user and diehard fan of android. I must say windows phone is nothing close to android. Android is still the best. Have lots of hope on windows 10. But y am still holding this device even I like android is because this phone is amazing in its on ways. We cannot compare to android but what we got here is solid. Great battery amazing camera awesome display smoooooth ui and it goes on. 3400 mah battery is like 4000mah on android. 2gb ram is like 3gb on android. Sd800 is like 805 in android. I have used Lumia 1520 (Global version) RM 937 (235) with T-Mobile sim in San Francisco & Las Vegas with 4-G sim card. However got only 3-G signals with H+ speed. The US 4-G LTE bands are different then those in the Global version RM 937. However the 3-G speed was very good with negligible buffer.

I have tried the beta version of the OS 10, since its still beta they are some things missing like the Office document isn't no longer part of the OS 10 for windows devices, avoid downloading the OS, I'd rather suggest yo'll wait for the final version, some things dont work so well with the phone so, I've decided to wait for the version when its ready for the market and vice versa.

Guys! If you are still using this phone or wish to buy this phone don’t be afraid of signal problems. I am using this phone for last 6 months. Was also facing this, was rather dejected. However was also trying continue to find out some solutions. Finally I got solution and it is working like a charm and happily using one of the best phone ever used/produced by Nokia. Solution Take 5-6 pieces (can be less if compartment of your sim card holder refusing to close) of thin copper wire in size 3-4 inches from electric wire normally we use. Rape it in few cycles on the metal holder of your sim card and take it out from sim card door. Now it is 1 inch or so is out. Add some more extra wire to it. Either with tape stick it on back of your mobile or if you are using kind of protective casing, hide it behind it. It will definitely improve your signaling as it did for me. I had this mobile for more than 18 months and here is a thorough review. Good things - This phone is a beast. Got a powerful processor, good RAM and i had 64GB SD card so it is like my mini computer. I play games a lot. I never faced any lag with any sort of game. Even between switching apps in the middle of a game and coming back to the game was so smooth. This phone handles multi tasking very well. The camera was so awesome that I stopped using my bulky DSLR camera. The camera can record 4K video which is another added advantage. Though the front camera wasn't that exciting, it produced some decent pictures. The display resolution is so high that the text and images appear so clear and crisp. Watchin movies for long time doesn't cause much strain as the display is 6". I use the phone for almost everything. Navigation, voice command, GPS based reminders, activity tracking, document viewing/editing, remote desktop controlling, Microsoft Lync communicator etc. So basically i will be connected over my cellular data all the time. With such heavy load, the phone battery will still last for 24 hours. I never had to charge in middle of the day. The battery life is too good. Now lets see what is truly bad about this phone - 1. The front camera - I wish they had positioned the front camera a little lower. The camera is located at the top, its is close to the glass curve and due to that if there is a light source above your head, the light reflected on the edges will cause a purple glare which becomes annoying most of the time. 2. The soft keys at the bottom are too sensitive. Most of the times i end up hitting the windows key or the cortana search key. 3. The biggest issue with the phone is the display touch. I have had issues for past 6 months with the display touch. It is a very common issue with all the owners. It is a manufacturing defect. That is what i could say. The three soft keys gets pressed by itself most of the time. Even though I keep the phone down, the display just keps switching, cortana popping up by itlself and it will get so annoying in middle of a phone call or while using navigation. The touch randomly works at different pressure points on the screen and i had clearly expeienced with Hungry Shark game. Touch even becomes unresponsive most of the times. The only way to make it responsive is to lock the screen and then unlock. Some times that doesn't work. As the screen doesn't respond to touch, restarting your phone is impossible except by force shutdown shortcut keys (volume down + power key for 10 seconds). I had to restart atleast 10 times a day to fix the issue. I thought of changing the display controller but the reviewers had mentioned the problem to reoccur even with the new display. It appears to me ( i could be wrong here) that the display some how is under lot of stress from the body casing. That is what is causing the touch to work random. This is the only reason i would never recommend this phone to any one. 4. This is a software issue - The three soft keys doesn't turn off while watchin videos or playing games which becomes very very annoying at dark. Dimming the display brightness doesn't dim the keys. It caused lot of strain to the eyes. Microsoft can fix this issue if they are aware of it. 5. Phone heats up a lot but considering the processing power and huge display, it is unavoidable. Overall it would have been a great phone if the display touch were good. I forgot to mention, I lost my tolerance with the touch issue as explained in point three, i threw the phone while i was trying to access and touch not letting me to get in the phone. I was trying to enter the pin number to unlock but it typed some random numbers and kept locking the phone which irritated me a lot. Now the phone got a good hit on the floor, causing the display to pop out a little bit on side and i guess the phone is messed up as i couldn't access the camera, the loud speaker is not working. I guess i will be switching to a decent android phone after a long time. bye bye lumia series. I have had enough with you.

I had only one issue with this phone is with the touch screen. There is no way i could predicut if the touch will respond to me or not. Everytimes the touch becomes unresponsive, i had to lock the screen and then unlock again. Sometimes even that doesn't help. Had to force restart by holding the volume down and power keys because the touch slide down to shutdown won't work. Atleast i had to restart ten times a day to fix the issue. Finally I lost my patience and broke the phone. Yeah i lost 550$ but i am happy with a basic android phone now.

I totally agree with you! I like certain aspects of Windows Phone, but the most basic aspect don't work well! I use Lumia 920 (with 8.1 ) and stability is even worse than you described! It is almost impossible to use the web due to constant page jumping, crushing, scaling issues and web rendering issues that you mentioned. WINDOWS 10 PHONE INTERFACE?! 1) almost no space between tiles 2) uglier contact interface 3) uglier dial pad! 4) Text Message layout? It's impossible that you haven't experienced Issues with Lumia 1520 such as: 1) Text inside search boxes often goes outside the search box 2) Text and Images on certain website overlay one another 3) In many webpages text doesn't fit the screen parameters. . Stop disinformation please. Android is not just for games! It is in fact much closer to a regular windows desktop OS than windows mobile itself! Windows phone had few superior pluses that Android lacks but it's a nightmare to use when it comes to basics: a) displaying of the web pages is horrible!; b) lots of stability issues (especially in windows 8.1) I used to misjudge Android based on Laggish and Slow/difficult scrolling in Samsung Note 3 and Note 4 phones, but after I have tried clean android system from Huawei Mate 7, I completely changed my mind. How easy to turn off the sound of windows phones. Before u slide up your sleep mode screen, press the button for volume up/down than find the bell in the corner ....... OMG it takes so long, why can't add this button in the action menu like android. Ok i will survive without this. I have had Lumia 1520 for almost 2 yrs, I find it's brilliant, the camera is fantastic and as far as the screen being fragile, I've dropped mine a good few time and the screen is still intact, no marks or scratches on it and it is used rigorously. I do have it in a case though, but occasionally it manages to escape and fall out

There are other basic Operating limitations:- 1) Cannot generate nor send a self Business Card. 2) Cannot download Google Earth, there are limitations of Here Maps in India. 3) Cannot save SMS to a Folder. 4) Cannot transfer few Adobe PDF Files (MTNL Bills - Mumbai) via Bluetooth. 5) Cannot open few Adobe PDF Files (MTNL Bills - Mumbai) sent as Email attachments. 6) Cannot directly forward emails with attachments, First need to download all attachments prior to forward. 7) Cannot attach multiple files of PPF, Word & Excel to an email, it works only for JPEG photos. 8) Cannot select a Cover Photo for your Photo Folders. 9) Need to Restart the phone each time for File Photo Transfers to be completed. All the above limitations do not exist in Android phone, even the basic versions.

Because even one months ago I updated both Lumia 920 and 1520 to the latest build of windows 10 mobile And stability issues and horrible web rendering issues of Windows Mobile were still there (where the hell is the new rendering engine?!) All you need to do is say "Hey Cortana" and the phone wakes up. First, make sure you have activated cortana and done the voice recognition to enable cortana recognise your voice.

yes, you have have set up and pick the option of hey cortana. I used this phone about 6 months ago, it worked like charm. Those who are saying hey cortana doesn't work either they have hardware problem, or doesn't know how to activate. However, you have to have Lumia Denim (or Developer Preview). It wakes up without touching...You have set up and train this phone so that it can recognize your voice. I miss my lumia 1520, probably will be getting another one soon, or better to wait for new phone, i don't know. nothing comes close to this phone (I used iPhone 5s, Galaxy S5, HTC m8, LG g3 , Lumia Icon before). Still 1520 is no 1 one. Sold because Verizon (my current carrier) does not have it.

Up until now the craziest and unique part of this 1520's audio recording capability is still holding me back from changing to a newer phone like S6 and such. One of the only phones that can record Dolby Surround 5.1 , can playback that 5.1 track along WITH the Dolby Mobile enhancement for headphones, crazy quality. Record some songs or concert. Download Moliplayer it can choose the second audio track which is the 5.1 track, make sure u enable Dolby virtual surround enhancement in system settings and hear to your recordings. You will be blown away, if you hadnt tried it already.

Looking at the hardware of this phone I think future updates are pretty secure for this device, in general it's the same as the Lumia 930 which is the flagship still, so this phablet will get the Windows 10 update for sure, the hardware is still up to par. The Windows Store is the best option for you. You can download the setup files to your pc and then transfer them to the sd card for installation. There is no Bittorrent for WP right now but there is another torrent client for WP (I forgot the name). And as for side loading pirated apps you need to developer unlock the phone and use a Chinese application to do so. Yes it does, perhaps most of the heating issue is due to the processors being over worked and the graphic cards not supporting or eating up into the processor by consuming more power thanks high end games and no nano fans Smartphones to keep em cool, many users who own brands like mediatek or Intel Atom (Atom for sure) know what I'm talking about. Many Mediatek processor face this issue when they come with only 1GB RAM on them, where most intel atom mobile devices just love getting the heat on for the smallest of applications. Don't be taken aback by the fact that they do touch temperature of about 35 degrees in some devices (Anything beyond 35degrees, is a major concern, it not like they'll explode or anything but, its better to have a regular pocket over a smoked pocket.)

Opt for the Sony 128 GB MSC, with 80MB/s. Its a better option than Samsung's 40MB/s, a 3GB file on a samsung sdc will take 3minutes to transfer it not laggy but, if you have a better speed it highly preferable. Many of samsung sdcard don't mention the writing speed.

Hey carol, I would advice you to wait for a months time before you go buy the Nokia Lumia 1520. Why? Cuz Microsoft is coming with the Lumia 940xl with has a better tricks up its sleeves and above all has the same 20mp camera as well the only draw back is the 940xl may not have a storage expansion slot like the 1520. I got mine because my first phone was the Nokia, and I wanted to have the last ever Nokia device as well in my kitty of old Nokia phone I have collected over the years.

Not all apps are available on Window Market unlike Android OS. But, atleast there not much nonsense filled there for starters. On the contrary they are some significant apps you may never find on Windows Market place like you'd find on android. So yes, if your app-fanatic Windows phone isn't what your looking for.

Yes, the device is on the list to receive update on the OS Windows 10 on OTA, the windows 10 update I've noticed those who are using the beta version aren't very happy about a few things but, since its not the final version it hard to say if Microsoft is listening to the beta users feedback. The major changes is OS 10 is that there no more Internet Explorer and its been replaced with a faster and secure browser, the long list of setting options are gone and it stream lined better than what it was so you dont have the never end list and you don't have to scroll down too much unlike in the current windows 8 Denim update the main screen has changed now instead of having your background image on the live tiles, the changes remind you of Android device as you have 2 layers of the theme screen the background image on which a layer of the live tiles can be see, where in the live tiles look transparent on top of the background screen which looks good the background theme can be seen when you enter the application menu as well. The downers though is once you change the theme from Windows denim update to the window 10 theme on the start up screen and app menu, you cannot change the theme to what it was previously. This may be a turn of too many like me. But, its fine you'll take some time getting used to it. Like I mentioned earlier the beta version does have some issues, we are waiting for the final product from Microsoft. It very difficult for me to convince you to opt for it, cuz they are very high chances you may or may not like it. I recommend you look up video on youtube of the Windows 10 beta updated before you decide to buy the phone.

Unless you get a Note 4 from Korea (SM-N910S) then your specs comparisons become much more competitive. First of all, the Note 4 is a about a year newer release wise. Normally technology leaps for cell phones is about 6 months, but the Note 4 takes a backseat this round. I will say the TV-out feature is a notable difference. In screen size, the Lumia 1520 is a beast, and very few phones even now compare. The comparable screen to body ratios are 71.4:74.2, meaning that the Note 4 has a bigger screen for lesser body, but has a lot less screen overall. The Note 4 has 3GB of RAM vs. 2GB in the Lumia 1520, but since the Note 4 is Android, I would discount the extra 1GB of RAM due to normal RAM usage in an Android device, so a dead heat there. The Lumia 1520 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Quad-2.2GHz processor, which can have a huge advantage in speed over many of the Note 4 variants that come with the Samsung Exynos 5433 processors in single application speed. That being said, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 in the North American version, along with Europe, China, Japan, and other markets would certainly have a slight advantage (about 1/2 GHz) speed wise. Considering Android's constant background app usage, one could consider this an even match. The camera is much better on the Lumia 1520, especially taking in the fact that it is almost a full year older. Unless taking 1080p video @ 60fps is required (movies are played back at 48fps in theaters), the Lumia tops the video recording too. features too. Misc. specs: The battery life is much better in the Lumia in all aspects. The Note 4 has fingerprint reader and stylus. Both phones have upgradeable OS with the latest OS pre-installed. Lumia 1520 seems to have better sunlight readable display. Note 4 seems to have a slightly better noise tolerance. Summary: The Note 4 seems to have some flexibility, and takes advantage of the Android's OS to do so. The Lumia comes packed with more hardware features, along with a smoother OS experience. I think the choice could come down to critical apps more than anything - the Windows Phone market has nearly caught up, but the developers are still having fits over developing for more than two platforms (lazy bums). Personal Opinion: I would go for the Lumia 1520, but I prefer functionality over extreme style, and the 1520 does indeed have more functionality over the Note 4. Once Windows 10 comes out for the phone, I expect and even better experience for all top shelf Windows Phones, especially when full Office applications finally arrive and Continuum is a part of the phone/big screen conversion process. Continuum will make the TV-out feature look like a cheap parlor trick.

Ronnie, the Lumia 1520 is a monster, so is the Samsung Note 4 the Lumia 1520 is mostly known for its awesome battery backup of 102+ hours of heavy usage and a 20mp clearview camera which makes it a strong contender. But, I couldn't compare it to the Samsung note 4 which is way superior than that of the Nokia Lumia 1520 (this phone was released 2.5yrs ago) it would be really foolish to compare 2 of these devices. Well let me give you a low down, first understand what you want from a phone, are you a kind of person who gets carried away by oodles of fancy apps which android offers which is the least when compared to Windows which has the least (growing as I write this reply.) You'll not notice the difference of screen size on the Note 4 at 5.7" when compared to 6" on the Lumia 1520, Lumia devices use less RAM when compared to Android in idle time when compared to Android which has lot of things going for it in the background. The Samsung Note 4 has a better, upgraded processor more RAM and a Stylus which makes it use a large phablet without any issues which doesn't exist on Nokia device. I'm not sure about the camera quality on the Samsung Note 4, I strongly recommend you go for the Note 4, give NL 1520 a miss. Camera quality can improve with software updates. So, like I said your getting a much better piece of equipment when you opt for the SN4 when compared to NL1520 which is aging very slowly. Don't bother what other have to say just go get your SN4 bud!

Well Sam, Microsoft doesn't have anything in particular a native application for locking specific applications, you need to download app lock a third party app from the marketplace. Secondly with reference to the lock screen you do have a Basic 4 and 6 digit phone lock you can do by accessing the wake-up screen options or security settings. With reference to Whatsapp, and if you wish to ensure nobody can peek into your private conversations then I suggest give Whatsapp locker a change, I personally havent' used it but, it seems fine. To ensure the application is working you need to unpin the Whatsapp file on your start screen and after installing Whatsapp Locker you pin the Whtatsapp tile back and enjoy privacy. I hope this answers your temporary issues you were facing with reference to phone or app lock. Unlike Blackberry devices, Microsoft has poor Phone lock and App lock options.

Yes the phone does heat up just not with using the camera or the video recording option but, also with playing games. What I like though it doesn't get as hot as many other Android phones like The Zenfone's do. The heat it emits is tolerable.

Hey, 8 out of 10 Nokia Lumia 1520 work well they are that 20% of devices that dont work which either have a screen issue. My phone has the same screen issue. If you've decided to buy one make sure its a brand new piece from the Nokia store, check the device is in a sealed box after you pay for the device open the box and check the device screen at the store before you step out. Also get nice silicone case cover for the 1520, the phone tends to slip a lot. Even if you decide to get a white or black Lumia 1520 which has a matte finish I, still recommend you get a case for the phone. It better to be cautious that you dont drop the phone and cause either damage to the screen or any part of the phone. Cheers!

Well I've been facing with some problem with my Nokia 1520, the screen suddenly moves violently up and down and back n' forth some time zooms in n' out many of the functions dont work. I havent dropped the phone or anything, out of the blue all these thing begin to happen some or now I can say most of times the touch screen will not respond to swipe up from the lock screen. I've always handled the phone very gently it doesn't look like a 2 year old device. But, I just went to the nokia service centre recently and they told me the screen alone would cost me half the price of the phone. Can somebody tell me what could be the problem? Been using the 1520 since last year (transitioned from Galaxy S3) and I've been loving it ever since. I'm loving the dedicated camera button which can startup the camera even without unlocking the phone. Great features. Great OS. Great battery. Great overall phone. I'm sure Microsoft will be doing a great job on the 1520's successor.

Both the camera are the same perhaps its way the software and the hardware works, the 1520 has some issues in auto-focusing on object very close by like in that of a Macro shot when compared to the NL930 even the low light shots the NL930 captures images better than the 1520. I'm not sure why this is true but, I've come across lot of articles mentioning that this is majorly because of the os update with the new Denim version out both phone perform on the same scale like the NL930 Until and unless there has been a bug in the software you'd not notice the difference. Enjoy snapping the moments.

The phone is great in terms of battery life, no heating issues, screen clarity etc. However, Windows does not offer certain apps which usually available on Android smartphones or Iphone app store. Make sure to get unbranded version of the Lumia phone such as: Lumia 1520 RM938. This one and other unbranded Lumia phones get all updates as soon as they become available. And that's another issue which Microsoft must fix. No carrier should be allowed to delay updates!

And please improve the following: ~Contacts get automatically linked when you sign in with your Microsoft account and they start syncing to your new phone. Ones they are linked, you have to unlink them one by one! Mobilink edge is fast enough in 1520. Whereas I used many androids HTC, Sony even galaxy s4. Most of them rubbish. Specially Samsung phns. They r earning thru advertisement n not thru quality. I don't think sending a video will help in this matter neither will I agree with what you were told about windows phone beings slower in internet speed compared to Android powered devices that's false. Even when I am in EDGE coverage area my internet speeds have been decent. 3G&4G on my 1520 are quiet fast though our 4G in Kenya is under testing it's extremely fast on this phone. I won't say all 1520s are perfect may be yours has a problem somewhere BUT before you take it for a check-up it's always recommended to try a hard reset and in a case like yours make sure you are using the correct &up-to-date internet setting. I will be lying if I say I can solve this problem especially that we are so many miles apart!! And whoever told you that generally Androids are faster than WPs is crazy in his/her head! If your phone is having problems with wp8.1 please stay away from Windows 10 TP for phones and wait for more stable builds

Extremely good phone; umm, as long as you handle it like a piece of glass. I had mine for two weeks and dropped it on a case protected edge from less than 10 inches and the screen busted. I figured clumsy me, ordered a screen, and replaced same. What I discovered when I opened the phone is that 100% of the structural integrity of this phone isprovided by the screen and ONLY the screen. Not a good design. Two months later, the second screen cracked in the middle, right across. This is a known issue with the phone, so much so that even though I voided the warranty, Nokia aka Microsoft Mobile was kind enough to send me a Lumia 830 as a replacement. I figure if one uses this phone, keeps it in their purse, you might have a shot. But if you are going to use a pocket or even a belt mount, forget it. The unit is simply too fragile. Even the 830 they so graciously gave me I am having doubts about.

I reverted back to 8.1 and then decided to give 10 to another go and it is working better now than it did the first time. I finally decided to download windows 10 since the phone kept on telling me the update it's ready for download, as I comment now(with Project Spartan!) I have used the phone for give hours and it's not a disaster as you are saying apart from lag in the start screen I don't see any major bug. My phone is not restarting and almost all my apps are working also all my settings and toggles are working just fine though I can't see data toggle anywhere. There are many things to talk about but I will first use the phone a little longer to discover more... Hi, even I've face the same issue oftenly and still sometimes. There is one app Super Cleaner, download it and use it every week to clean your phone. Your 50% problem is solved. and for remaining 50%, don't hold your device hardly from the corners, as this is one of the reason, the cortana starts automatically and taking you to bing search. So, your remaining 50% problem too will be solved.

I just love the new touch on the camera with the photos having more clarity even in low light environments. Camera while phone locked, you just press the camera button like you are locking the phone....not long pressing like it was before,...just awesome. Rich capture is the other addition. With the video....previous maximum resolution was 1080p/30fps... but with the update, it goes upto 2160/30fps like doubled.Oh yes....the live folders are also cool on the start page. Others am yet to discover. Mine is a MEA...bought it from East Africa

Hi, Please don't buy lumia 1520, you get much better models in the market in this price range. I had been using this phone over 8 months now. I have used only nokia phones in the past and trusted the brand but the lumia 1520 disappointed me totally. I have faced network issues, over heating, hanging, touch screen not responding etc. This phone is not consistent and sturdy. I took it to the service center and they replaced the mother board and screen claiming there are some manufacturing defects but still no much improvements. The only advantage is the camera which is good when compared to other phones, but please don't compromise other factors for camera. :-)

Hi, the battery life on this device is excelent. I use it for everything except for gaming and I get easily 2 days out of it, and a little left to find a charger. In fact I think it never went below 15%. Before Denim I made it last 5 days once, it was amazing, but now I can get 2 o 2 1/2 days with normal usage. Hi, everyone. I have a question. After the Denim update I noticed that the location 'thingy' consumes a lot of my battery. With Cyan, location didn't affect my battery life at all, but now it increased my battery usage by 30% or 40%. I turn it on only when I need to use the gps and things like that. I am an unhappy camper. I bought my Lumia 1520 a little over a year ago and at only a couple months in, It was run over by a car. Beginning of my woes. My warranty provided me w/refurbished replacement 1. Which shortly messed up only speak or hear OFF SPEAKER. SENT IT BACK got replacement 2. Shortly it went where only hear or be heard ON SPEAKER. Replacement 3 after 3 days it started buzzing in audio then again IT WENT TO ONLY HEAR IF I WAS ON SPEAKER. After all of this Microsoft agreed to send me a 4th but this time BRAND NEW one. I have not even had it in use a week AND you may have guessed... today phone 4 WENT TO I CAN ONLY HEAR A DIALED CALL OR HEAR AN INCOMING CALL IF I HAVE IT ON SPEAKER they can hear me. This has been a huge amount of time spent in the provider store on phone w/techs back and forth over and over. Am I the only one to have such so much audio trouble???

Some more checks done. You need to tap the mike icon on the right bottom & register your voice. Cortana them starts to work. Infact you have to select the mikr icon each time for voice control, else it works as a Bing search engine.

Have had this for a year, it's been pretty good and it is much better than my last android phone for power consumption. Having said that there are a couple issues that should be mentioned. The first is that the autocorrect feature is too overzealous. Autocorrect will replace correctly spelled words with others it wants to use instead, which is annoying. In don't mind autocorrect but that's ridiculous. It also has difficulty correcting simple one letter mistakes for some reason but is fine replacing whole words...come on people. Second, is to be aware that if you turn off wireless but are too quick to dispose of the window in settings where you do this that it will in fact remain enabled. I have caught it several times failing to disable wireless when told to do so simply because I closed the window before it was completed. It doesn't tell you anywhere to wait for it to complete before closing the window. Other gripes: zoom function not available in mms photo mode. Using desktop mode in browser still results in websites redirecting to mobile versions, which are worthless sites IMO. I will be happy when Windows 10 comes out for this device. Otherwise it's been a pretty good phone for me.

India seems to be the second largest users of WP only next to USA. It is disappointing to see that the denim (or for that matter any update) update release comes in so very late. Its released in Thailand and Philippines were the users are just about 10% of the ones in India. The delay is release only reflects on the poor showmanship of WP. Look at android and apple on other hand. Updates are quick and in sync with entire world. You buy the most expensive Lumia 1520 phone and you have models with 10k ready with updates about 3 months now. Are we justified in supporting and being loyal users in India?

Does 1520 has any issues with properly displaying certain websites? Issues like: -Pic overlaying the text or vice verse? -Page shaking or blinking too much? -Not displaying all items on the page or displaying them in improper order? -Some sites crush (shut down and the browser opens a blank page) I'm asking because even my Lumia 920 does have these issue with few websites. The pages don't feeez up like it used to be on Lumia 520, but many other problems still exist. Crushing occurred on both 520 and 920 after updating to 8.1

I use to have similar issue with my lumia 1520 but i can only get the player to work again after unplugging and replugging the headset which i believe is a weird thing to do. But after upgrading to Denim everything works perfectly Ok.

Hi all. Need help and opinion When I play music on the "my music " app, it plays about 4 to 5 songs and then just stops playing. Attempting to play next track doesn't help. Exiting the app and reopening still doesn't help. Its as though the app is hung. I have to switch off the phone and put is back on for the app to function again. And the again I plays about 5 songs and stops responding. Please any suggestions

I have tried galaxy note 1 to 4 and although they are good devices am not impressed enough to put down my 1520 I have used lumia 920 Ativ s and was disappointed with the screen size then lo and behold this massive beauty. to be honest I laugh when ever someone comes with an android phone as I simply ask lets download the same game and see which one looks better and 10/10 I trump then only IOS games are truly comparable when it comes to detail in graphics so am happy with this and would hope that its successor would have a 5.7 inch screen instead of 6 as most people will come and ask what kind of phone is that and I would say a nokia lumia 1520 then I would get a WOW then a that's BIG. Thank u for te reply lumia lover. This is why they are losing the entire business. They call it a productive phone and you cannot attach a document while replying mail. (its a flagship device as well). Still in India the denim update has not come. Sad that I lost 41000 in this phone

1&3. At this moment the email client can't does such that jobs. We can't attach files just photo/videos only. It is because wp has no file explorer. Microsoft is working on WP10. Hope it is including new interface and some new functionality to email as there too much complaints about this as wp created for business purpose, great email client is a must. 2. If u sent the pdf files via Bluetooth, u can check that files in received file folder in ur sd card/phone storage. If they weren't there, u may try send it one by one pdf file. U must open first every pdf file received and there is option to save the file. If u don't do like this method the pdf files are not saved in ur phone. Hope these will help you and sorry for bad eng.

I am able to download it but im not able to find the location of it. 2. My friend transferred a pdf file in Bluetooth and I was able to open it but couldn find the location after installin the FILES app. 3. Anybody out here,,, If u ever use a mail please answer to this . if u want to reply someone and want to attach a word or pdf file, how will u do it? I have a Lumia 1520, the screen is gorgeous. AMOLED screens are nice but the color reproduction is garbage, unreal. LCD is better, but the 1520 gives a lot of screen options to adjust colors, contrasts, ... so that your screen looks as you wish, so it can still looks like super AMOLED if it's your preference.

guys....ive been using this lumia 1520... i got a few concern. 1. the screen easily smudged if pressed from rear and front at once.2. playing hd games for a while and the back gets very hot...very hot.. 3. the screen somewhat faulty, if you touch and scroll it , it accidentally click , open up something. 4. the default apps sucks. it cant show my subtitle .srt on video. 5. bbm still buggy, cant connect fast enough and many many occasion just white screen or back to main screen. other than that.. its quite good.the camera result very satisfying.i just hope that the new win 10 update will bring goodness to this beautiful beast

I have had both and they are both good phones but.... the Lumia now has 4K video recording The Lumia has a better battery life The Z ultra bent in my pocked not much but enough that when i put it down on a table it would not sit level. The camera on the Z ultra is very poor. But the Z ultra is on android so more apps available but saying that microsoft is catching up fast.

I have easily setup my office email here and continuously received/sent email using LUMIA 1520.
