it wouldve been as powerful as an iphone 3gs. it was going to pack a 600 mhz chipset cortex a8.. with almost the same gpu even with an outstandin camera,, but it wouldve been another waste. still a good catch back in the day.

This phone must have been cancelled because when people don't give a damn about N8, then what special stuff does this phone have? In fact, it would have to be priced lower than N8, but profit margins would've been lesser. Also, one more reason is that Non-touch Symbian OS v9.3 is outdated now. This OS had its share of fun: The camera giants: N93, N82, Samsung INNOV8 etc. The music giant: The N91. The all rounders: N95, N96, but its over now. Those days were so beautiful.

Its OK for this specs page to exist even if we know the phone will not launch.... Atleast we have rich information about phones that the company may have released..... Removing such device info pages is not right as they are important milestones (roadmaps) in the company's development history..... like you will always remember Nokia dropped this phone to focus better on the development of the N8....

I wish Nokia would not get rid of the slider form factor. I'm sure I'm not the only person who doesn't prefer big screens over portability. I would have bought this if my Nokia E66 ever gives out, because I like using a small smartphone.

I have been waiting quietly and patiently for this or any similar high end NON-touch! phone for a long time. Manufacturers are imposing their touch screens on us saying they're not willing to invest on high end non touch screen phones because they won't have high sales. This is upsolute rubish. No manufacturer has given us the option; It's either high end touch screen or crappy low end non touch. Strange how most people I speak to prefer their old non touch phones but have no choice but to move on to a touch screen phone if they want to benefit from any improvements in technology and/or more additional functions. Please (any manufacture!)give us a decent high end good resolution screen, 8mp or above camera with auto focus, good audio sound, scratch proof etc. You will be the first and you will make a killing. Please don't ignore us!

True what aa3131 said. These type of phones is unique and real value for money. Theres so much software for these types of phones(symbian),the sky is the limmit. Android is a big privacy concern. Don't comment on my comment.

Use HVGA screen resolution for this phone or any other successor of it. using VGA or QVGA only for all phones is Nokia's old habit. please change your habit and play some new tricky games with HVGA.

i'm the N86 user, and for me the phone is excellent.. simply cannot wait for N87 to be release.. for me,(don't like touchscreen phone and other brand beside Nokia) N87 might be the perfect match for my taste..

I use a 6710 Nav. and simply love it(yes, there's nothing wrong with mine and I use it hard for a year now). This N87 blows it away with a 12mp camera and I can bring my data from the Nav to the N87 with the same OS. Wonderful! When??

this phone is one of the greatest Nokia products which ever released, it doesn't have foolish touchscreen, the style is too old but still unique.the size of phone, the form of keyboard and button of it make this phone to be practical and easy to use especially for people who type very much with phone.

Guys, this phone will NOT be released. It's just an early prototype. A few designs were suggested for the Nokia N8 and this was one of them. The prototype was killed because it was too old-style. The current N8 design was chosen because of the modern look, thin body and better modern-day features. I can confirm this.

as it is a camera phone, make it sufficient zooming capability like around 20x for both still imaging and video recording. also there should not be quality degradation while zooming. then it will rock. nokia, please mention it and release it as soon as possible. Thanks!

dont worry, it is not going to be a touchscreen as its nevigation keys and display layout reflects. Only uncertanty is that whether nokia will release it or not.

Nokia N8 is the last n-series device running on symbian OS. All future n-series fones are gonna run on meego, a linux based OS. That's what Stephen Elop, Nokia's CEO had to say. N9 is next in the line. So, we may actually never see this N87 in real.

The touch based symbian may not be good and lag behind in the competitiön but the non-touch S60 v3 is the best non touch os so far! Just look at it,has everything and nearly no bugs due to firmware updates. It's a pity that the world has taken into touchscreen phones filled with great but not very useful/practical features. They eat a great deal of battery life too!

I would like to see any non-touch screen phone that runs on android/iOS. Symbian is the king in the non-touch screen phone world. Nokia have dug their own grave with Symbian... the most unreliable operating system on the market. They need to ditch this and use Android; or anything else for that matter. I work in the industry and since the N95 Nokia has just gone downhill. Also the build quality has taken a tumble; especially the lock buttons on the side. It amazes me that people still trust Nokia so much. Great specs (if true) but Symbian will destroy it's chances (and the handset).
