Samsung Xcover 550 - User Reviews

  • The little rubber protections for the headphone and charger inputs is not god. They fall of

  • It's not as durable as it may seem at first

  • Does it scratch at a level 3 on Mohs Scale of Hardness?

  • Its plastic I had the phone

  • Well adrianisen hammered the screen on this phone and it cracked exactly like how glass would, yet if it was a plastic screen it wouldn't have cracked like that.

  • No its not its plastic and not good at all this phone should not be out there as a tough phone as its not if you had this in your pocket your keys pressing it would crack the screen, Samsung need to have a rethink in regards to this being a tough phone, I run a Cat B30 now and has been a charm.

  • Is the screen seriously made of real glass?!

  • The flashlight is great! And it has predictive text input for croatian language, how about that? That is one thing thesimilar but less elegant evolveo hasn't, but it has wi-fi, can act as hotspot, larger flashlight, powerbank...

  • It's pretty slow, no gps (since normal-key nokias from 5 years earlier had gps, I thought this one has a navi system, too. how ignorant of me). I took it with me to sea kayaking, held it strapped in front of me. Should have known that after saltwater you need to RINSE such a phone - the salt clogged my microphone, probably damaged the membrane...

  • Well... it's not a smartphone...

  • how can i get 550 battery

  • Even if this had a front camera, both the processor and the wireless uplink are too slow to support a video call

  • is this available in philippines

  • No front cammera? Such a waste 😔 I want to make video calls with my kids.

  • maybe you should change the settings.....

  • why not,,,,,

  • expecting a wifi for this phone? wow!

  • been having problems with not getting the mms to work, any ideas?

  • fantastic phone, except the lack of wi-fi....

  • I bought this mobile last summer, because it was sold out here in Finland- the pricetag was only 19 euro. It's robust, battery last about five to six days. Unfortunately the voice quality on ear is not the same level as it is on Microsoft Lumia.

  • If allowed I want to buy the phone and searched for him in Egypt did he find it possible HelpInfo

  • The phone is good but GPS is missing

  • Yes

  • its just a terrible excuse of a smartphone. have only had for 1 month and already it has an intermittent fault and stops sending and receiving txts! i wouldn't recommend buying it.

  • Does this phone have 3G???

  • Dropped mine from the the top of a HGV trailer, approx 4.7m. Back cover came off, battery came out. No damage to the covers, screen or battery. Put back together and its perfect.

  • Get Samsung Metro XL (not listed on this site) instead which has bigger screen, selife camera is there too. It is available on all major Indian e-comm sites and brick and mortar stores.

  • Like what?

  • Plzzzz plzzzz samaung Xcover 550 Launch in india

  • mine turns itself off just about daily if not used anyone got ideas

  • My father has just bought this mobile. How do you increase the time the screen is on before it automatically locks?

  • Why therevis no front camera to make 3G video calls? What a waste.

  • Huge waste of money. Weak protection (back cover pops open even in minor falls, screen protection cracked easily), opera mini failed to start every time, after 6 months battery needs charging almost once a day, pff.

  • Hi! Is it possible to listen to FM Radio without earphones with Samsung Xcover 550? And does it have flashlight? That was the good side of Samsung C3350 (however I can not get a new one anymore). Are there any good alternatives (just personal experiences please, if any)? Just needed for calling, texting, FM radio (without earphones), flashlight, alarm clock and basic photos (3M or even lower resolution). No need for internet and all other 'new stuff and comunication channels'. I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you and kind regards, Mark

  • Great phone with excellent battery capacity. I like it very much. :)

  • Can't browse internet. Opera mini not installing

  • to keep cost down . . .

  • Why there is not a second camera for 3G video calls?

  • such a waste. It is a very good phone but almost useless if there is no second camera for 3G video calls.

  • Very good phone but why there is no front camera to make 3G video calls?

  • Only front camera missing. I own one, I'm satisfied.

  • Why there is no front camera to make 3G video calls?

  • WoW! this really a Excellent phone Upcoming smartphone. i'll Activate this now on my site.

  • why this phone don't support whatsapp?

  • Such a waste. This a real good phone for travel but why there is no front camera to make 3G video calls?

  • Yes, its will show in the menu just after you have began receiving the call.

  • Great phone however most of the specs are useless if one doesn't has wifi.Cheaper phones have wifi.

  • New phone new sim won't work just emergency

  • I've paired this phone with the car and Bluetooth is fine but won't download the phonebook. Can't think what else to try - any ideas? It's my dad's phone and he's moaning about it lol - help! Thanks

  • Yes! GPS please and bug free Java support. I used GPS a lot with Trekbuddy (trekbuddy.net) on my B2710.

  • Hello, does anyone know, if it's possible to record a phone call? Thanks

  • So fuuny hehehehehehehehe :D

  • Some Funny

  • I have lost my battery.so where can i find battery to buy?can i get from the shop i bought this kind of mobile?Tack

  • pros: solid block style body, dedicated light button, good readable display, acceptable camera picture quality, dust-proof. cons: software, software, software, Java application halfway run or not run (my Nokia 6300 or other Java enabled phone same application 100% good), Java installer freeze often times (power off power on the solution), not connect correct my Nokia external gps unit connected, paired, empty service list (other devices laptop, Nokia, android tablet device connect and working ok.), non removable demo Java games (system protected why?), internal hands-free mode select the back speaker and internal microphone feedback and whistle many times, inconsistent menu structure (delete function 3. or 4. position depending on which menu ...etc. etc.), answering call the low provider signal quality drop or interrupted, non customizable widgets (power save mode customizable same widget). etc. etc. conclusion: good low cost worker phone, completely useless added function (facebook client embed 3 way, demo games,) must the massive software update.

  • When someone calls you, does it say the contacts name out loud?

  • Please return gps and google maps on phone (like in xcover 271)...

  • mine just refuses to send MMS pictures-goes through all the motions but..... nothing happens.

  • Please samsung, give us wifi in it, plz plz plz.

  • Please launch a Xcover550 with dual sim

  • Samsung pls launch 3 sim basic mobile pjone with long battery backup

  • Does anybody know if the phone has a good calendar-function with the ability to save appointments with alarm? Thanks in advance.

  • download the apns from your network.

  • Yes, even the Xcover 271 has the option. And emails and stuff in the same contact

  • Can I save multiple number in one name option?

  • how can I set internet on this phone?

  • Why include a dual core processor?

  • So how do you find the bluetooth menu on this phone in order to set bluetooth up?

  • Whats App working?

  • Hi, This is a feature phone so would you would not be able to download the whatsapp application

  • Would it be possible to install whatsapp on it?

  • Yes, in english it does.

  • Screen terrible for photos, everything is dull greeny blue, very poor res. Will not send SMS/MMS to e-mail address. Dual SIM would have been nice. Not expensive but could have done better for the price.

  • hello. may I ask, does it have predictive text input feature?

  • flash not use as a torch light

  • it is a huge step back from b2710 but probably a small improvement from c3350 MICROPHONE IS CR@P! pure cr@p! other party can barely hear you in perfect conditions

  • This phone is Not an upgrade after b2710! 1. Phonebook -max 1000 (too little) -slow, sluggish search!! -20chars contact 'name' field, even no surname! (Too short.) 2. Maps, -no google maps at all :( -gps absent. 3. I've tried connect laptop to internet via bluetooth, but it don't work. 4. Battery life bad. -some ~4 days with up to 2h/day talks. ------------- I like screen, keypad, especially love this torch, but as phone, it ends always unexpected, when I need it.

  • Its actually the samsung c3350 enhanced with all the proofings mentioned in the features

  • were is its availability

  • Does this phone (Samsung Xcover 550) has a search option like Samsung B2710 have ( when start searching, phone display searched items that I have in address book, messages, notes, calendar, ...? When searching contacts in address book , for example, seeks contact John Davies, can I enter only "avie" and to have as search result all of those who have in their first and last name word "avie" ?

  • if it have dual sim slots then its better.. and price is a little high

  • When you go into Calendar, rather than press centre key to "create," press "options" 1 then 2 will give you anniversary option. You can choose whether you want the entry to repeat each year or whether you want to manually control it.

  • Only single SIM in my market [New Zealand.] I'm not aware of it being available in dual SIM though.

  • Phone stores 1000 contacts. Multiple fields per contact. Plenty of calendar storage too and fast browser

  • I have had this handset a few weeks. It has a torch but doesn't appear to have a flash. I certainly can't find a setting in the camera feature. Camera is 3.15mp. Keys are large and easy to press. Slight clicky feel but not hard and not too soft - just about the right tactile feedback. I understand this handset comes out with either a 1300mAh or 1500mAh battery. Mine's a 1500mAh and has excellent standby. Rated up to 19 hours talk time, though I usually half what manufacturers state. I use mine for home phone etc and I get a good two days out of it. I'd have about 3 hr long calls a day, multiple sms in/out, and various shorter calls up to 15 mins. Be warned though - although it has email... neither Samsung, my cell provider or anyone can set up email on it. If you want similar features and don't need the ruggedness, go for the Samsung GT-S5611 which essentially is the same handset, just not rugged version. Having said that, I have a very tiny scratch on 550 screen already so how scratch resistant the screen is - anyone's guess. I keep mine in carry pouch too.

  • I have this handset. Contacts = Phone 1000 entries. Multiple fields available are....Mobile, Telephone , Fax, Etc, Email, Group. You can select ringtone and caller image per Contact. You can also change the field type. So, say you had a number shown as a mobile but you wanted it as a telephone only, yo can go into options and tell it to change the field type and relabel it. SIM 250 my carrier This will allow a number and an email address; on my SIM anyway.

  • Accu is good, lasts for week. Calling, texting, browsing with it is what I do - I like this phone. Only there is no such place in calendar, where I can insert birthdays!! Crazy, isnt it!

  • single sim or dual sim?

  • just want to ask. how many names could be stored in the phonebook? multiple entry per name?

  • Whats the price of this handset in USD?

  • We standard SIM in ours (Sweden)

  • Simple Sim

  • I am a little confused about the sim card size. Does it take a mini sim, or a micro sim? I have seen both sizes quoted on different sites.

  • Yes at least 2000mAh for this phone. This would be useful for people working in the mines, rescue workers, emergency responders and the likes that just need a quick, tough, rugged phone to use to call or text. More importantly, that the battery will not conk out in the middle of it all.

  • Available in Malaysia?

  • How many contacts can it store? (phonebook capacity) This is the bottleneck for me usually. (CAT "not-smart" phones can store only 500 contact names.)

  • "262,144 colours LCD" Why?! No wifi, no Gorilla Glass. :( But true: cheap enough.

  • 200 ron or 50 euro

  • - The keyboard are hard to press?: No - has it a flash?: Yes - The battery is 1500 mah or another?: Battery is 1500mah

  • Yep the whole interface is quicker, I never noticed my B2710 was slow though while texting so I cant make a comparison on that and no, the camera does not have autofocus.

  • Some one sell it on OLX with price about IDR 2,7,,,

  • Is it much faster? the B2710 is somehow slow writting sms. Does the camera have auto focus? I have the B2710, I don't see much utility in gps and compass (I have tomtom and a suunto ambit with compass) what I would like is to be faster and that bluetooth connections don't make the phone reboot. In vodafone.gr website it states: Talk time (hours) : Up to 19h Stand-by time (hours) : Up to 850h

  • Some owner, please, can answer me about: - The keyboard are hard to press? - has it a flash? - The battery is 1500 mah or another? Thanks to all in advance.

  • 12/07/2015

  • Don't take under 2000mAh battery above 20 hrs talk time becoz now trends above 2500 mAh batt and phone in smaller size. Big size mobiles look like lady purse while handling in Army people like under120mm long mobile.Otherwise button of pocket is unbutton.whether it is above Rs. 50000/-.v can't show mobile in hand like lady purse.

  • Does it float? Can it function as a bluetooth headset for iphone 6, Samsung S6, Nexus 6, and other high end phones? This feature allows you makes calls or texts from your expensive phones without taking them out of your bag or pants.

  • Yes at least 2000mAh for this phone. This would be useful for people working in the mines, rescue workers, emergency responders and the likes that just need a quick, tough, rugged phone to use to call or text. More importantly, that the battery will not conk out in the middle of it all.

  • Will this hit the Philippines market?

  • I've been waiting for the update to the original Xcover which had a 2000 mAh battery that lasted forever!! Come on Samsung give it to me! A tough phone with at least 2000mAh battery please, many will buy!!

  • need more battery life

  • why does no having whatshapp

  • i need triple sim version.

  • I need dual sim version.

  • hello morning from st Vincent my Samsung phone is lock by a code that was put in we forgot the code number what can we do cuz it reads phone lock how to remove plz

  • Thank you for your first impressions. I guess I'm with you there. And if only the phone wasn't so... BIG. B2710 is quite a bit thicker, but not so wide and tall and sort of sits in your hand quite comfortably, with 550 I'm a bit hesitative, it's basicly the same size as 4.5 -5 inch smartphone. I guess the "bigness" was the dealbreaker for me. I had a little Samsung 1081 a while ago and that was a perfect tough phone(excellent build quality. Well, ok, basicly all you could do with it was calling and texting, but still...) But I am happy to see Samsung still makes toughphones

  • Well I have a B2710 and I've just received the B550 this morning. First impressions. Its quite big, larger than I was expecting. The back cover is a flimsier design the way it clips on, I would expect it to come off quite easily if the phone was dropped, unlike the B2710. The screen is bigger and definitely better than the B2710, and its quicker, both to be expected on a much newer phone. The torch is in my opinion worse it doesn't throw the light in a focused beam like the B2710 does which is like a normal flashlight, the button on the B550 is just a toggle switch for the flash which is unfocused and just throws light everywhere I can confirm it has a 1500mah battery IT DOES NOT HAVE GPS :( For me ultimately it is not an upgrade, if it had GPS and it didn't have that flimsy back cover it definitely would be, unfortunately Ill be sending it back and sticking with the B2710 for now, very disappointed because I like everything else about it.

  • why you can buy this in leicester

  • when this phone come to Indonesia??

  • Great ! A Perfect phone for my Grandpa ! Though, the price is bit more than I expected; but no worries,I have more than enough money to afford this brainless beauty ;)

  • please release it bangladesh :)

  • add WiFi and dual on simcard, would be nice

  • In Europe it's about 90-120 euro (about 100-130 dollars) plus shipping.

  • Why would anyone buy this ? There are way better phones than this. You can buy from Galaxy Xcover series from Samsung if you want a rugged phone.

  • xcover ! intrnl ram on for games or more low , when downloding aaps limited 2ual sim avalablety wifi hi wegeht !

  • According to German Samsung site it doesn't have GPS. Feature phone my **s

  • I'm from Portugal, although some other person commented of it being available in Belgium. Unlocked and unsubsidized it is priced around what gsmarena states. Just to avoid confusion, Galaxy Xcover 3 is not the Xcover 3. Some people seem to confuse both.

  • Where r u from? Plz tell me it's price(in $) plz

  • do this phone support whatsapp???

  • Being sold in my country, here are the specs from some stores: Memory: Internal: 256 MB / RAM: 128 MB / Slot type: microSD / Max. slot capacity: 16 GB Display: 2.4" / TFT / Resolution: 320 x 240 pixels / 167 ppi Camera: 3.15 Mpixels / Flash: LED / Video: Yes Network: 3G: 900/2100 MHz / GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz Wireless: Bluetooth: 3.0 Connection: Jack 3.5 mm / micro USB 2.0 IP67 Weight: 124 grams Dimensions: 129 x 56.2 x 13.95 mm SAR: 0.78 W/kg Sadly seems that it has Bluetooth 3.0 so no efficient nor compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Also, no GPS mention in the specs. Feels wider than the gsmarena images show. Internal memory seems to be 256MB but there are a few stores that state 128MB. Battery seems to be 1500mAh, but some stores state 1300mAh. Talk time (3G Network): 9h There is mention to Google Mobile Services and Mobile Tracker, not sure what that is.

  • The phone looks really nice. Simple clean lines, beautiful! For my hand was a little big though.

  • I have use that phone about 1 month now and I like it. It's simple and well made.

  • Amazing and cool phone, I want to have one!

  • yes please release it here in the philippines. its a convenient and must fone.

  • why is it still rumored? we already have it in our stock in our store, we're already selling it in Belgium

  • i wish it's announced with xenon or dual LED flash.i am waiting for real.i really want it because it looks like has ruggedness grade as of my Casio watch.

  • pls come to philippines. or a cool rugged flip phone.

  • i wait its phone

  • I am wating for it.

  • I like, c'mon samsung release it asap!

  • this phone have almost specs of samsung galaxy xcover

  • This phone look like old Sony Ericsson j300i phone

  • You are mistaking the xcover with the galaxy xcover That the replacement for the galaxy xcover 2

  • Why? The Xcover 2 is a great phone ! Very resistant, it has android, pretty good CPU, the screen is awesomely responsive and perfect, they should make a 4.3 inch touch screen android 5.0 at least a 1.5 quad core and 720p display with at least 1.5 Gb of RAM ,at least 8 Gb internal storage and at least an 8 mpx camera, the 5 mpx camera is great ! They should make a phone like that ! They did very well with the xcover 2 ! Very happy with it, the only bad thing is the storage wich is extremely low !

  • i buy one for my grandmother

  • Good fone for oldies who don't like touchscreen.

  • How is the battery back up

  • I've had the original Xcover SGH E2370 basic phone for around 4 years now and its battery is the best at 2000 mAh. I can rely on the phone for 3 weeks of moderate usage or 2 weeks of heavy usage without dying on me. The battery in this new model is so lame, it should still be at least 2000 mAh while still being robust and tough... Tough phones must come with superb battery life. That's what this niche market needs.

  • camera 3.15 with led flash like my samsung galaxy xcover

  • Blast from the past

  • this ain't an android phone but an ordinary bar phone.

  • xcover invasion
