Overall phone is great, smooth and fast operation, no lagging for the moment, battery 1 day heavy usage. Display is great, amazing color , but screen is "slippery" not easy for use, typing is a little bit difficult, because finger slides during typing. After last update to Oreo, default launcher is crashes constantly!!! Change to another launcher (Nova) fix the problem at all! Smile UX need some improvements, apps default notification are disabled by default. Finally, highly recommend this phone!

I just updated this S2 to Android 8.0 oreo worldwide edition. It added a lot of new functions including face ID which works amazing. It is like a new phone now! For those who interested can go download and update it yourself but it is a taiwanese website and you might need google translate if u can't read chinese. rom= instruction (remember, need to update to version 1.35F first） = 1.connect via usb as mtp mode. 2. copy the downloaded rom on to your root. 3. disconnect the usb. 4. dial *#*#874#*#* and follow instruction. Bought this on jd.com for 150$. For that price its a steal. The smallest 5.5" you can buy, has plenty of power for the average user, generous ram 4gb and memory 64. The screen is great, battery life is quite good, it has NFC, camera is ok also, so for this price - you can't really go wrong. Just flash tw firmware with gapps and you're good 2 go. In Europe this thing is very rare, so if you want 2 go exclusive, this is the one 2 get:)))

you can try with volume- and power button, you will run into safe mode. Phone is just ok, it's didn't impress me at all. Just for basic use it's ok. Camera is ok, don't expect to much. Keep in mind this phone is not made in Japan...For the price of the phone you can find better dill.

The 4+64GB version is only RMB1699 (sometimes RMB1499) in Chinese local online store, for sure the best buy in similar price range. The only complain is the speaker sucks, both in quality and loudness. Battery life is amazing, no problem for whole day (12 hours continuous facebook and whatsapp)!

Who cares, it's functional. It's dead space anyway better be used by something useful. Muuuch preferable from simply having a bezel on top (which IMO is even uglier) The only way to make it both pretty and functional is to have the selfie cam underscreen, that way when the (oled) screen dims on top it can be used for selfies, when it doesn't (i.e. watchin a video, using your phone; you can't be spied on)...

You probably could but it's missing a few LTE bands like 17 (AT&T's main band), Sprint's band 25 and 26, and band 2 which all the major carriers except Sprint use. In my opinion I'd go for the Mi Mix 2 instead since it has most of the major US LTE bands and also stands out

I bought the version 64GB in China (for only USD 300), and when I arrived in Brazil, I easily changed for the international version (with google and all other apps). Easy download on Taiwan website (http://www.sharpmobile.com.tw/%E6%9C%8D%E5%8B%9­9%E6%94%AF%E6%8F%B4-s2). After 2 weeks, they updated the system, adding dual apps possibility for whatsapp. The system is good, the mobile phone is easy to use, fast, and the batery support the full day. I just purchased this 128GB variant black sadly no other colour available all sold out. But this phone does have LED notification on the top surprisingly! It lights up when charging the phone or you receive messages or lost calls. There very few apps and little bloatware, the UI is mostly stock Android mixed with some Chinese UI flavour. Another thing, the Aquos S2 lacks 3.5mm jack, you receive an adapter though for USB-C.

Essential phone was announced earlier. But... Sharp had bezelless phones years ago (Aquos Crystal from 2014 for example). What essential did is to improve upon existing design. So in technical terms, nobody copied nobody or everybody copied everybody. That't the tech world, enjoy it.

Because of games and videos most people want phone display size from 5'0 to 5'5 inches being the standard of screen display. Samsung Note 7 and Huawei Mate 9 spear headed the likeness or longing for bigger display. It is a great joy viewing the bigger and clearer screen much better than the below 5 inches screen display. You can have small phone for calls only but have trimmed down bezels phone of 6 inches for all other things.

Not many websites seem to selling the 660 SoC S2. Having said that, it just came out this month. Sounds like sales are brisk. Makes sense too. Good brand, price, and more. Maybe a S3 will come out with Android 8.1 and a Snapdragon 651-670 with an even smaller bottom bezel within 24 months(?). It's high time both versions come state side.
