T-Mobile G2 - User Reviews

  • Just turned mine on in 2019 LOL. Damn thing just keeps goin', not sure what to do with it though.

  • Can this be upgraded to the latest version in this year 2017? Hehe I'm just a kid so I don't know

  • It won't work because this is an old Android phone that's basically obsolete and you can't do anything on it!!! And obviously nothing will be compatible BECAUSE IT'S AN ANCIENT ANDROID VERSION!!!

  • the solution to this its simple just re install the froyo

  • hey matt if the play store does not work at all,,, just give it time, i got the same problem bro`.. the solution, just activate de simcard 4g upgrade navegation and refresh the android market, to the new google account and in few pair of minutes... its ready and upgraded to google playstore

  • Great little device that I used for well over 5 years on T-Mobile (USA), after becoming a "Sidekick refugee" (Remember those, kids? The granddaddy of smartphones?), when the Danger.com servers went dark. The G2's humble Android 2.3 still handily did everything it needed to do (Netflix, HBOGo, etc.) with no real "must-have" apps it would not support. Seeing as how there are simply no comparable more current options out there with decent physical qwerty keyboards, I just never bothered upgrading. Sadly the HSPA+ precursor to 4G LTE (basically a souped-up version of 3G) is being phased out by T-Mobile. This occurred without the least warning from T-Mobile here today in the Washington, D.C. area, and my trusty old HTC T-Mobile G2 just threw out the anchor and ground down to 2G-only speeds. I wish I hadn't bought a new battery for it off eBay just last week! On the one hand, T-Mobile richly deserves a great big razz for not even bothering to let a customer of 14 years know that his phone was about to stop working properly, but then on the other hand, now that I have wasted a good part of the morning just figuring out just what the hell was going on, they ARE sending me a freebie LG K10 replacement...No shipping and handling, no sim activation fee, no cost whatsoever...Zilch. Still, my trusty old G2 will be missed. I wonder if I can get it to work as maybe a prepaid on another US network like Boost. Suggestions welcome.

  • Hey Guys!! I had ordered for HTC Desire Z online... But I got this T-Mobile G2 today.....;( Can anyone plz tell me whether it is the same as HTC Desire Z or its the duplicate one?? Reply soon.....

  • Super Phone

  • Wow am so about to own it

  • Good phone. It has a great image resolution. The internet navigation is faster than other device (like IPod Touch 2). Good speed processor.

  • Though i got this phone in the used and used condition but to be sincere it has been a very good one. it is strong, durable, rugged, internet speed is as provided by the operator. i have done and undone many things to this blessed fone and it still remains. perhaps it is next to nokia because wen it falls down i simple pick it up and dust it and am good do go again. the only problems are with the battery of which i think it's because i didnt buy it new, the weight, and more importantly absence of over-the-Air (OTA) upgrade. i really wish i can upgrade to ICS at least. but all in all it is a very good fone

  • Very nice....

  • Very 9ice fone, i love it more than other fones....

  • I have a G2 and it has 72MB used memory and 1.2 GB of availalbe memory. where did not 2.something GB went?

  • Try daunting the charger or maybe the battery reached its life span, specially if it says its a 78% but it dies fast.

  • Amazon.com, I just got one myself for mine. Broke when I landed on the phone while playing soccer. And learned how to replace it on you tube tutorials. Good luck.

  • Settings, wireless & networks, mobil networks, clear the check mark on "use 2g networks only" field. But if it is un unlocked phone bad news you can't make it connect to 3g networks, lets just say its one of the down sides of buying unlocked phones! But not ask the phones have this problem. A rep from htc told me when a cslled them.

  • Try daunting the charger or maybe the battery reached its life span, specially if it says its a 78% but it dies fast.

  • Its a nicely designed phone "my opinion" but it lacks in performance and hardware what it exceeds in design. I bought an unlocked and had bad luck getting a good one it was not new had ask kinds of issues, track pad, faulty keyboard (qwerty), kept shutting down by itself. Great video and picture resolution though, the processor its fast when it works, has other features that sort of make up got its short comings like swype. Then I bought one from my carrier and this one too has issues, returned it three times because of defects this last one is not a perfect one but having to pay a $20.00 deductible every time I return I just gave up and kept it. It is a tough phone the frame I mean.

  • I had the sidekick & hated it . It has factory issues . I get the g2 Tuesday .

  • I tried to take a photo in the mid night but the flash light couldn't appear..why?

  • how do i set the 3G network on my G2?

  • Htc g2 and Samsung sidekick 4g. which is the best?

  • i charged my phone till morning and till 78% i switched it off and till date i cant turn the phone on

  • where can i get an LCD replacement and a cable

  • take battery out and then put it back in and turn power on.

  • having problem with the screen cord. can it be changed?

  • Had this phone as a upgrade had for about a year. Was a nice phone I think it was tmobile's first 4g phone. I keep waiting for gingerbread to come out. It was funny I finally got the update when I was selling the phone to someone else. It was a blast to use. I really liked stock android back then. I think that was the reason I decided to buy a nexus one at one point too. I think I may get one again because they are so cheap right now.

  • I dnt know why,my g2 comes with 2.3.4 os version,1.2gig memory and 356 ram instead of the normal specification

  • Yeah... All is true about the phone, check it's google play to get amazed!

  • I for one would really like to see a G3. I miss hardware qwerty.

  • Sim network unlock pin

  • the battery of the phone didn't last long when i bought it with the froyo version of the android OS until i upgraded it to gingerbread. so now it last longer than before.

  • IDK if they'd ship to India. I use it. it makes the phone look kinda ugly but really increases the battery

  • I am using this phone in India. I purchased in USA. Only problem the battery rundown fast. though they specified long life.

  • please everyone, i have this phone but my battery life is very poor, especially the first bar. The first bar drains in less than 30mins when browsing on 3G. and the entire battery drains in less than 4hrs... i need help y'all what do u suggest i do? or is it normal?

  • I lv this phone

  • Very good phone I had it for two years now and dropped it many times only two dents in the back nothing else. If you play a lot on the phone the battery will be drained fast but if you keep it on standby lasts a good long time. The screen slides up very smooth and easy I really like it. The only thing that happend to me is that my screen became red and blue. It stopped but I had it for a month or two then went away. Very good touch screen too. I would give the phone 7.5/10 since the phone is heavy and low battery life other than that its a very good phone and I recommend it to all of my friends.

  • go to www.ebay.com and purchase. you will have to have a paypal account and a ebay username to purchase. Or if have a friend who is an ebayer get him to do it for you. i bought my G2 from ebay. it was a good deal. now they're even cheaper. Cheers :)

  • I purchased this HTC G2 for T-Mobile. I left the iPhone because I was courious about the android os. I'm so in love with this phone! It does so much and I have still yet to discover all the different functions. Totally customizable without the need to jailbreak. Although, if you are techi you could flash different ROMS, but why? I guess what really surprised me is that the specs says it is a 3G phone but every now and again, depending where I am at it will show 4G arrows going up and down telling me I have 4G! Super fast phone even when not running 4G. I sold my iPhone and coupled that money with some of mine and got a Nexus S, I really missed the thinness of the iphone. I'm back using the G2 still faster and better. One more thing, quickoffice comes standard on this phone, it's an app that is like MS office except for android phones. It now cost to get on the newer phones but if you use Office this is really nice. Hope you all are enjoying your phone as much as I am enjoying mine.

  • i love T-mobile G2 it a nice phone

  • how can i order this over the internet i need one

  • download plan b from the market. login to the market on your PC and it will remotely install for you. you can send a text to start up the GPS and the app will email you its location. they won't know the GPS is on. hope they keep it charged.

  • Can some one tell me how to track my g2 .. i was car jacked last Sunday.

  • Call T-Mobile (dial 611), get through to a human, tell her you are traveling and want to unlock the phone.

  • No, you cant update . You can install the software manually through some shop in market but the software might not be 100% valid and it might slow down your cell phone , therefore it is preferable not to update your software . (You can update through Android Store officially increasing it to 2.3 or 2.3.5)

  • hey i would like to no how to unlock my htc g2 phone. Its an american phone but nw i need to unlock it does anyone know hw to do it?

  • i have htc g2 .. may know when i get update of 4.0 version of android??/

  • Hi evry one...i m from India..so let me know, can i use this HTC T mobile in india...wth our Indian sims... i will be grateful to ur response...

  • how long is the g2 battery life on 3g mode? In how much does it cost now for the g2 phone I am thinking about a upgrade

  • the flash chip is operating in SLC mode, which cuts the capacity in half, but improves performance and write endurance.

  • Hello..my g2 only have 1gb..it says it suppose to have 4gb..why is this happening?..I don't understand..

  • It's the US Version of the Desire Z.... Or atleast the T-mobile version of it

  • Looks exactly like Desire Z lool

  • my g2 av only 1gb internal memory instead of 4gb is tht normal?

  • my g2 av only 1gb internal memory instead of 4gb is tht normal?

  • Indeed. I still have it and it is running great especially nearing it's ICS update. I find no reason to upgrade even after seeing the beautiful Galaxy Nexus which I like but not worth it with lack of Hardware keyboard and approaching quad core procs. The G3 must and have to be superior. Recently HTC has been disappointing in the last year or two with repetitive plastic phones with same designs and mediocre internal features but the G3 MUST have some sort of dual or quad core proc, 300+ ppi display, NFC and all the goodness we see on the pure Google phones. Can;t wait for a thin, slider, rugged, G3.

  • The best phone I've ever had. I don't know why it isn't so famous. Its screen sharpness is even better than 2011's phones (i.e. xperia play, I compared them), I'm amazed and very happy. If a "G3" appears, I'll definetely buy it.

  • i had switched off ma mobile for 4 days. but now when i need to switched on it, it wont be on. whats the problem? if any solution let me know

  • This is by far the best phone I've owned so far. I love some of my older stuff, granted most of them were non-smart phones (Samsung D900 still my all time favorite). None the less mine is over a year old, and it's still going strong. I love how it's process may only be a 800Mhz it's still very potent and you don't run into many issues with it. This thing is tough too, mine is banged up a big, but having it in a metal casing vs. plastic like everything really makes a difference. It's a heavy thing though, but man is it good. I love this I really do, I've though about upgrading but I can't part with it. Mine is all stock, and the Gingerbread update I got a while back ago for it made such a huge in it's overall performance. All in all if you can still find one, I'd say get one, it won't let you down. Yeah there is stuff way better now, but I think overall this is one of the best out there. Considering it'll run with any of the 1Ghz single core devices (i.e. Galaxys, Milestone/Moto Driods).

  • t-mobile G2x is the closest to your specs of choice :D

  • An IceCreamSandwich update is more than probable if you're rooted. Its possible if you're not. In either case, hardware constraints won't be a viable reason why it shouldn't as the Nexus S is guaranteed to receive the update. The G2 is in the same bracket technically as they have very similar specs. Ultimately, its up to T-mobile show some love.. Your best bet would be to root and wait for the inevitable CM9 from CyanogenMOD. Short of that, you're rolling the dice with that matter.

  • i got gingerbread 2.3.4 updte in Maldives

  • I still using my G2...and i love it!!!! i hoping, there will update Ice Cream Sandwich for G2!!!! what do you think!? T mobile G2 GingerBread 2.3.4 stock

  • This is the best G2 phone ever, I hope G2 come back with 8mp, secondary 2mp, dual core 1.5, 1Gb ram, 3G 42mb & lov :)

  • wats ur thinking abut this cell........ i think this is amazing.......

  • i know that this is very good cell and i want this always.........................thanks

  • Great phone, still have it in nearly new condition. I see all these phones coming out and none are worth the upgrade and not because I'm still under 2-year contract. Like mention below, the most customized phone yet, though I have yet to modify and strengthen the spring on the z-hinge. Awesome device, though my next may be a Nokia with Symbian or Windows, some platform with real PIM functions and Business environment, no, not a Blackberry.

  • So here we are 9 months into ownership of the HTC G2. We've seen rollercoasters on the dev scene but at this point this device is one of the most hackable pieces of hardware on the market perhaps second only to the Samsung Captivate. MiUI, CM6-7, HTC Flyer Rom, Bliss port, Virtuous Rom's (Unity Sense 3.0, Doubleshot mt4g port, G-Lite ASOP, Vrom2.0 Optimized Sense), and a number of different skins for all of the above make this device highly customizable. The Scorpion processor is still quite capable in the world of single core system on a chips, handily pulling down 3K+ benchmarks when overclocked to 1ghz depending on the rom. The only major setbacks to this device is the lack of RAM, thus making more system intensive roms such as Unity be somewhat laggy, and the fact that many shipped with crappy stock springs, thus necessitating my needing to void my manufacturer warranty to fix a manufacturer defect. Great going there guys especially when I wasn't allowed an exchange due to a defect that you shipped. From what I heard this policy was later changed, but by that point I'd already fixed the problem myself. Terribly small stock battery but the Evo Shift battery fits as a drop in replacement so that can be overlooked. Now since this device has been EOLed and it wasn't terribly popular on the market, used versions have dropped to sub $200 depending on your area. As a secondhand device to replace your busted old hardware, or to tide you over till your next upgrade: look no further. There is no better querty keyboard device on the Tmobile market save the MT4gSlide. But hey, that was just released and is expensive as all get out.

  • xllent. but no second camera.

  • I find that very amazing. I was going to buy a G2 for my daughter but instead I bought a Sidekick and she loves it more than the G2 that she wished on receiving.

  • very fortunate...my g2 slipped out of my pocket while i was on a rollercoaster ride...miraculously..lended on wooden chips from 3 stories high...all ok !!

  • yeah that is true, g2 doesn't have gorilla glass..

  • nice

  • The G2 does NOT have a Gorilla Glass display. Mine SHATTERED by just barely slapping it!

  • Don't want to root phone and want qwerty choose g2 want bigger screen choose vibrant, but you will need to root it because touch wiz suc*s. ofcourse rooted g2 is a beast, and if you choose good rom and oc procesor you get close performance to sgs2 (procesor)

  • Great phone without root. But with root it is a BEAST, you can OC it to 1.9 ghz (with just wery small risk) and get same score in quadrant as sgs2 THIS IS BEST OVERCLOCKABLE PHONE or OC it to 1.5ghz with NO RISK and get 3000 in quadrant ( with custom rom ) And if you tweak it battery saving settings it still stays usable with full battery for 2days. The point is you need to root it to get most of it, and at this time it is very easy, you can do this in xda-developers.com

  • What would you say to this phone if u compared it to the Samsung Vibrant. They have many similar specifications but what would you say is better. Samsung Vibrant or G2

  • It looks exactly like desire Z or maybe it is desire Z just marketed by T-Mobile

  • Wi-fi is working well ! Overall a good phone !

  • I'm from Brazil and had one. Works very well in 3G of TIM carrier.

  • I had one and works very well in 3G of TIM carrier.

  • I used it in Serbia for 2 weeks on Telenor's network, not only the 3G but 4G worked - it was super super fast.

  • WHAT is the cheapest ad trusted way to UNLOCK it to another network ? plz answer me . thanks

  • Best phone i've ever had.I can get around on this phone easier than other android phones i've had.

  • Battery life is about 2 days with light use(2hrs phone calls, 2hrs internet, 2-3 hrs playing with the phone games, music, apps ,etc) and this is normal after the intial period of exitement. Z-hinge is no issue. The phone should be called 3.8"wide screen laptop with cell phone capabilities. It is amazing, solid device, appealing to business people as well. Call quality, connectivity and in call management is average at best. I came from Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia X6 which have superb call quality and connectivity but not good as smart phones.

  • Will this phone work at 3g speeds outside the US? Has any one tested it in Europe, asia or Brazil?

  • I've. had the G2 for 8 months at least and it is probably the best phone I've ever had, sure the battery s ucks...but what smartphone has good battery life? I'm running CM7#32 with few issues. I love this phone

  • LOL . this is desire z )) great phone

  • looks exactly like HTC desire Z

  • I highly suggest that you dial down your screen idle settings from infinity to screen shutoff in several seconds. Additionally, you might try turning off gps, wifi, bluetooth and/or data connection when you're not using them. Pick up an app like juicedefender and set it to aggressive. If all of this doesn't improve your battery life than you should just carry around a second battery or consider investing in one of the aftermarket extra big juice battery packs.

  • This phone at stock is a very reasonable piece of hardware. The hinge design is serviceable though I do have concerns about long term internal cleanliness & hardware strength. Capacitive menu buttons are satisfactorily sensitive. Screen is bright, responsive, and clear. Software response is snappy without any customization. Developer support is very robust. After root one can overclock their cpu, be rid of interstitial advertising, have full custom roms and backup utilities. The optical tracpad is a very nice touch, though I do not use it very much. Hardware keyboard is generally good and though I find myself hitting the wrong key more often than I would like, this can be excused as having fat thumbs. Admittedly thumbs are excellent and what largely distinguish us from our more jungle bound brethren, they still are subject to the limitations of the engineering compromises our genes must make during reproduction. Much like the hinge & keyboard of the G2. I will be very sad when I have to replace my g2 with an inferior device at some point in the future. With proper prior planning and good research an individual can overclock the efficient second gen 800mhz processor to a speed which scores 2395 in quadrant, a rough equivalent of 1.4ghz+. I have found zero issues with onboard storage, always having more than ample space with plenty to spare for future OTA, or developer ROM upgrades. This phone is upwardly compatible with at the very minimum of 32gb microsd cards which at class 10 are currently prohibitively expensive for all but your most dedicated of technogeeks. Though one is prone to carrying around tons of music, the complementary class 2 8gb card will suffice for most users. I feel this phone is an excellent purchase and generally a solid device in all regards. If you have a hardon for physical keyboards, stock Android, good developer support, and don't mind the compromises one must make to enjoy these benefits I implore you: quit drinking yourself into a stupor every night and buy this phone.

  • 12 hours is amazing for an android phone

  • Great fon.just dissapointed with qwerty keyboard & too weight.

  • Very bad battery life, worse than the iphone, but other than that I love the phone. I carry a car charger with me all the time, I don't use it much, it runs out in less than 12 hours. Maybe a problem with my phone?! I'll check with T-mobile. I had it for 6 weeks

  • Click on the picture and hold it, it will give you an option.

  • What happens when you Long press on the pictures? That usually opens the ability to save attachments.

  • Love this phone with a passion. Only problem. It won't connect to wifi. Whenever I turn it on, it says error and turns off. Help?

  • price should be available

  • Does anyone know how to save pictures sent via text as a slideshow? My friend sent me all these great pics but I can't save them to my gallery or as wallpaper or anything. They're just stuck in my inbox. Please help!

  • This phone is the best.. once you flash Virtuous on this baby (the advanced edition) this phone is beastly.. Completely blew away every other phone in terms of speed and sheer power..

  • I love all htc cell phone but now t-mobile releases a new dell streak 7 launched -

  • Root it and flash a sense rom

  • has anybody have discoloring problem with this phone because a have it look ugly below the track pad my phone has turned kind of black it has discolored, anybody know if i can have a change from htc?

  • XDA developers

  • I can't see information about HSPA+. I think it is important to be included for smartphones supporting it.

  • I love HTC sense UI.Is there way I can have it on my T-mobile G2.please help other wise iam going to sell it to buy desire Z.

  • battery is super... phone is super... seriously HTC from every angle.. awesome build inside and outside

  • This phone will be your best purchase. Lots of memory of the device for applications. I've never had the phone ever freeze on me. Even with the amazing screen it has a great battery life. My favorite features are the UMA calling over wifi and the ability to use the phone as a hotspot for lap tops. The g2 feels tough. Not a pos plastic phone. 2.2 software is great.

  • No it's not, mine was conflicting with the OS.kept freezing and finally just went mental.so i went back to the original OS.THE BEST THING TO DO.

  • this phone might not work. it has to be fully unlocked. most phones are not catching network even after unlock code provided by t mobile.

  • there is a problem with many tmobile g2's in the market. even after unlocking, there is a network error which means the phone is not completely unlocked. please be careful when you purchase.

  • Hey anyone know a app that allows you to organise your life? The app can even allow you to select the notification sound at different timing. The app appeared on Digital Life not long ago. What is... HTC G2

  • hey everyone. can anyone tell me how is the battery life on g2? i got the my touch 4g and battery is very bad... if battery is better on g2 i would prefer to switch to g2. so, from somebody's experience: concerning battery life on g2, how good is it?

  • about flash player

  • I can't find how many frames per seconds does the video camera have. any ideas?

  • i've had a g2 for about two months now and i love this phone.

  • Thanks. One last thing: I watched the unboxing video and the adapter is kinda strange with two pins. I have an adapter for 3-pin ( cuz we only have 3-pin here ) but i dont think it would fit, because theyr kinda thiner and stuff. Is there any special adapter or somethin?

  • this phone uses HSDPA 1700 / 2100 for the 3G. So if your provider uses either of these frequencies you are good, otherwise will NOT be 3 g for your use.

  • Will the T-mobile G2 (T-Mobile Unlocked)work in Malta (EU) with a service provider other than T-Mobile?(example : Vodafone) And could I use other 2G, and 3G networks from other service providers too? Thanks for any help. :]

  • This phone is the hottest device in T-Mobiles lineup. I'm overclocking up to 1497MHz! I am selling my Nexus 1 asap

  • Is it available in India & can I use any gsm connection in it???? please help....

  • yeaa first u hav to unlock this phone.

  • If you read the specs you would have read that it says TFT Capacitive, not S-LCD like the Desire Z

  • Is it compatible with new HTC SENSE like the desire z?

  • I'm interested in getting one, but scared of getting a defected unit and cannot make a refund (non-US resident). How many of you has the loose hinge/reception problem and had to return the phone?

  • Hey guys will this phone work in India?? I am getting one from the U.S....sope i need to know wether the phone will work with airtel...n is there any unlock pattern i need to know about?

  • Probably the dumbest comment I've ever had the displeasure of reading. It absolutely goes without saying that any G1, rooted or otherwise, will completely be smashed on performance by the G2. Why? ....Because the G2 is a latter generation handset. As for rooting being 'pointless'.... only people who didn't truly understand the term rooting would deem it pointless. Just a question for you - How can obtaining root and full /system read/write access be in any way pointless? The additional options and benefits it provides far outweigh the minimal risk. Do your homework next time.

  • T-Mobile HTC G2 vs. Samsung Epic 4G Video Review

  • hello everyone I got a quation about this phone and the HTC desire Z which are the same. I'd like to buy the desire z when it will be available, is the slide mechanism solid? Cause it looks solid on video. Thanks

  • This phone is most faster than Vibrant!! 80mhz + 205 Adreno Chip is much faster for the Vibrant shit 1ghz!!!! Nexus One have the Adreno 200!!! the two only phone have Adreno Chip is the Nexus One and the G2!!

  • I think most of you guys who were elevating this phone to a suits above the to phones right now are blinded by buyer's bias. Someone said they compared the g2 to a vibrant side by side and the g2 even with 200 mhz lower then the vibrant was "faster" well obviously itll be faster because the vibrant only runs 2.1 right now which is known to run at a fraction of the speed of 2.2. You cannot really compare the performance until the vibrant gets 2.2 which should be by november or december. And I'm betting that the 200mhz diff will shine through when that happens. All that side tho I'm not saying that any of these phones is really better then another just to try to stop spouting such bias opinions.

  • though i dont hav this phone but considering in getting one after my friend bought it, i was blown away how fast this phone is when i mess around w/it, im glad that its running stock 2.2, its far better than custom UI running on top, (it was good b4 2.2 came out tho)...it has nice solid feel to it, it doesnt feel cheap like SGS, as for the z hinge bein loose, just dont hold the phone upside down, i would definitely recommend G2 to anyone that hav tmo

  • Jas-preet is a fool for getting this fone!

  • can I change the sim card after I buy it? because I want to use it in my country and it is a gsm phone

  • i heard that this version (t-mobile/g2) of the desire z does not have a 720p camera. can anybody help before i buy it.

  • This phone is incredilbly fast when it's in a 4g area. It's just a tad slower then my laptop while liknked to a Wireless-N Network. The weight really isn't that bad though. It give it a nice solid feel. Cell phones these days are becoming lighter and lighter, they start to feel cheap. The G2 is metal, with a few platic accent so that adds to the weight, but its a solid feel which is why I chose this over the Galaxy S Vibrant. That and the G2 runs circles around the Vibrant, and even the big bad Droid Incredible. The only thing I don't like is the Keyboard pops out a little to easily, and the screen rotation is very sensative. But then again it could be because this is my first full touch device and I'm just not quite used to it yet.

  • This is a great phone. I love the design the battery life is pretty good as well. This phone is 4G capable so the internet speeds are really fast in the areas that 4G has been set up. One negative comment that i would have to say is that i dont like how much the phone weighs...

  • Rooting is over rated these days. Really, why would you want to ruin a perfectly functional phone that does 20 times the things phones did just a couple of years ago? I could see back then but jeesh, but these phones are really spectacular now! Compare a rooted G1 to a stock G2 and I bet the G2 wins every benchmark and prolly adds a few new ones.

  • I got the fone 1st day. And yes best fone better then iphone4. One thing it say it has 4G of internal memory but I only saw 2G?

  • I got the fone 1st day. And yes best fone better then iphone4. One thing it say it has 4G of internal memory but I only saw 2G?

  • Ok so I just got this phone and I love it! Is one of the fastest phone you can get right now as well. I've only had it for a day but it's very impressive. This is my first android phone so what is amazing to me might notbe to other people. However even though the processor is only 800it's faster then the galaxy phones I looked at the G2 and and the Vibrant side by side.the screen isn't as good but the Super AMOLRD it the best thing out right now. I highly recommend getting this phone. -sent by using my new G2.

  • what about the Z hinge?

  • The G2:A very nice device, unfortunately cannot be rooted, that's way the Motorola Milestone2 is better or the Epic 4G......we have to wait xda developers and pray that it will be cracked...until then I'a afraid I have to choose another device. So sad

  • Does it matter if this phone is like the galaxy s . ? At least its the simple phone that you can use . Its better than nothing & its an android ' There's only one thing that is good about this phone its just the speakers . Its between the new tmobile mytouch & this one .(:

  • No it does not the Epic 4g has a much better keyboard and slider then the g2 the hinge is terrible on the g2 report already came in of it breaking in half. The Epic has a 5 row spacious keyboard with all the menu buttons the g2 has a crammed 4 row keyboard. The Epic is WAY BETTER than the g2 it has no chip to prevent rooting btw and plays games like no other with a 16gb sd card and front facing camera

  • Its a S-LCD, I dont think they would change the screen type just because its being sold to another country....then again I could be completely wrong.

  • IS the screen type S-LCD or TFT ?

  • 800mhz snapdragon but faster than the previous generation 1ghz snapdragon processor because it's the newest generation and MADE for this phone. It works well with the rest of its parts. Benchmark test shows that it's faster than all the other 1ghz snapdragon phones (iPhone, Nexus1). Don't be fooled by numbers, it's an awesome phone and wonderfully put together.

  • Sure seems to be a lot of people talking about stuff they know nothing about. Many of you are fixated on the whole 800mhz thing. Well, I have one and I can tell you it is every bit as fast as anything else out there but of course that obviously depends on where you're at. As for the battery, my phone has been off the charger for 8 hrs now and I have yet to lose a bar. The keyboard layout is excellent and the feel is great in the hand. Those of you who do NOT have this phone need to keep your uninformed opnions to yourself until you can base them on something besides looking at a picture

  • That's funny considering that one cell phone reviewer rated the keyboard very highly. I agree. You lose.

  • anyone know how to adjust the text size?

  • Folks, Finally T-Mobile and Google have done it..G2 is Awesome and looks like G2 will be sold out very soon...I am an aggressive Smart Phone user and use an iPhone and Android since they existed...I think G2 is the beginning for a new Era for T-mobile, Google & HTC...G2 has addressed a lot of issues that One looks for in a Smart Phone...I am glad this will be a new beginning. GO GET A G2 if you need a good smart phone !

  • this phone supposed to be release on Oct. 6 but i'm currently using it now. This phone is everything you ever need, not to mention about the internet speed; it ridiculously fast. even though the CPU is only 800MHz but the phone is function has no intention to slow down. One thing - disappointing speakers!!!! volume is very poor even when you max it out. when switch to speaker phone, it sound like a "cricket". EVERYTHING else is GREAT!!!!!!

  • Im loving my new G2 I had the G1 and I always boasted it against the Iphone I must say the G2 is everything I could have thought. I do wish that it had a teatering opt. , but im loving the live wallpapers

  • unfortunately, T-mobile did remove tethering on the G2. I went to the HTC training and that was the first question i asked. The keyboard is much better than Galaxy S. It has a Z hinge. when u flip out the keyboard, it is on the same level as the screen - flat.

  • can we run this phone in hong kong using its hsdpa

  • T-mobile is removing the tethering and hotspot options off of the g2.

  • i guess i was wrong

  • yes you can with android 2.2 you can automatically tether!

  • dont diss the galaxy s. You obviously know nothing about the phone, so lets just calm down. The major thing that this has over the galaxy s is the keyboard, not to mention that sprint's galaxy s has a keyboard. and the galaxy s screen is waaay better than this

  • why there is no one answer this ... i hope this can tether. anyone can confirm.

  • That's because it is the Desire Z -- only with a few physical changes by T-Mobile USA. It's like the HD2; there's a WWE HD2 and a slightly different T-Mo USA HD2.

  • What's up with those blank white keys? :|

  • This looks a lot like HTC Desire Z :))

  • specs are incorrect; 3g speeds are HSPA+ 14.4 and wifi b/g/n

  • No 802.11n or mini-HDMI port? Only USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.1? I wish for 16x9 aspect ration 4.0" screen.

  • how can you say phone is fail if havent even seen it in person or even held it. "oh its to heavy " have you felt a galaxy s? you have to keep checking your pocket to see if its still their. not to mention the fake plastic feel. "oh my it only has 800mhz" so what it comes with adreno 205 gpu you dont need 1.0mhz also it has froyo the os has a lot to do the with speed of the phone notice with the nexus one when updated to froyo 2.2 beta it was kicking butt look at the benchmarks dumb@$$. the gpu takes strain off the cpu so, so much computing is not ran thru the cpu. hense longer battery life. "omg no ffc" more than half the people i kno that have ffc's on their iphones and evo dont even use them not to mention the sh!t quality, japan has had the ffc for 5yrs +

  • Does this phone support UMTS band I or only band IV?

  • the same reason why 8 cylinder engine is stronger at 3000 rpm then 4 cylinder at 5000 rpm

  • because it is made of aluminium like nokia . Only because of that it's havy

  • This phone is HSPA+ 21mbps, not the 7.2mbps suggested on the spec sheet.

  • Why the hell this phone weights 187g? That is toooo heavy.

  • I think he's being sarcastic. Seezu probably is just saying that comparing a 1ghz processor to a 800mhz processor doesn't mean anything when they are completely different processors. This is more apparent in benchmarks: The HTC Vision is named the T-Mobile G2 in the U.S.

  • how are computer processor relevant to mobile processors

  • Why is a Pentium4 @ 3.8GHz slower than a Core2Duo @ 2,8GHz ??

  • Shouldn't this phone be HSPA+ 21mbps down?

  • should be cheaper than contemporaries.

  • The main feature of this phone is the GPU! Adreno 205 is much much faster than those found in today's Snapdragon based phones. Read more about Adreno 205 here:

  • Hey How about yall do some research before ya start downing this thing for 800Mhz. Some one got ahold of benchmarks and its scoring as high if not higher then the 1GHz hummingbird in the Galaxy S

  • For rhose who are idiots and don't have internet and brains to find out which cpu is newer better and power efficiant. This processor is smaller and better perfomanc of first generation (QSD8250 and QSD8650) here is the proof .

  • Why it's only 800 Mhz. Why not 1Ghz.

  • this phone just got the award for worst keyboard layout ever... nice specs... horrible keyboard layout

  • Does this G2 can tether with laptop...? if it can must be great for the internet speed...

  • Why are there no arrow keys on the keyboard? Hope one doesn't have to move ones hand over the trackpad thingy to move the cursor. And why no radio either? Anyway, HTC Desire HD is next on our shopping list. :)

  • Most of us at T-Mobile are just glad to see another quality htc smart phone on the shelves. Between the Vibrant, G2, and MyTouch Slide, T-Mobile customers finally have a decent selection of relatively advanced Android smartphones. I wouldn't count out the G2 because of the 800mhz processor, because the advanced modem and HSPA+ will make this the fastest web browsing phone on the market.

  • @Anonymous the screen of the G2 is super TFT not super AMOLED

  • For me the phone factor is the best qwerty smartphone out their but the specs. of the G2 is only 800mHz while the other smartphones out their is 1ghz. it is better for G2 to get 1ghz snapdragon processor than 800mhz and the battery is also a problem with 1300mAh it is easy to drain, the more the speed of processor the more the battery capacity is needed. it is better for G2 to get battery of 2100mAh if it has 1ghz processor but if is not better to have 1500mAh cause it is the standard battery for the smartphones out their that's all.

  • I would agree everyone is moving towards snapdragon why would t-mobile scale back to 800 mhz and did not applied a camera in the front with 5 megapix along with a camera on the back 8 megapix android 2.2 or better.

  • that's just beautiful

  • why is every1 saying FAIL CHIP, only 800 mhz?! lol" u should know that this is a 2nd gen chip, its is faster thn those 1+ ghz and it saves battery.

  • need.. uh.. super amoled @_@

  • Excellent internet access

  • 800 mhz processor? are you kidding? They are about to release phones with 1.3mhz processors for cr@p's sake!!! And a Li-Ion 1300 mAh... you'll be lucky if that lasts more than 6 to 8 hours before a full charge! Pathetic!

  • It will be a big heat again through d world, htc rock again..

  • Great phone i had an t-mobile g1 an its great.. this one is even better

  • this phone is a big fail from tmobile. no secondary camera, only 5 megapixel, only 800 ghz, whil phones are moving closer to 1.3 ghz and more within 4 months. the keyboard looks good but it is overall less appealing than the iphone, nokia n8, nokia e7, samsung vibrant. when a unreleased phone is worse than released phones than we have a problem. this phone should have been released in july at the latest.

  • All the phone launched this days are locking alike.

  • Hello Froyo :)

  • Not even that nice immo! G1 was a better desgin, and the specs are now that WOW or revolutionary as t-mobile call it.
