Great phone, I bought it two days ago. I was choosing between i7110 and Nokia E52. Both are great! I like that E52 is thinner and wights less. Personaly I think E52 in Black looks better too. But I bought the i7110 for its OLED screen and FM-transmitter. And also 2.6 inch screen is bigger.

For me the camera is much better than the average. A surprise that the audio is good too. I disposed my mp3 player because of this phone.... I think this phone is a limited edition. Luckily this metal casing phone has been distributed in Singapore market. Cheers...

Unforunately its almost impossible to find this phone now in SA. I think mtn direct used to have it at one stage. You can try sites like bidorbuy.co.za or gumtree.co.za and you might get lucky and find one. Last I saw, i think the price was around 3600 from MTN but it should be much cheaper now. Good Luck. alternatively look at the nokia e52 or the new nokia navigator

Regarding abnormal drop in battery life Please ensure there's not application such as gallery running in the background. My experience tells me that If I have "gallery -video player" running in background, my battery life drops at least 50%

To kiQi on my comment about battery life, My comment is about my personal experience playing SE, nokia, LG and samsung. All 2.4 inch screen except my current i7110. In term of spec, E52 claims 6hr talk time (3G) while I7110 claims 5.5hr (3G). It seems E52 is better, but please consider that E52's screen is 2.4inch only. I'm not saying this samsung is the best among ALL phone, I'm comparing among similar product.

You obviously haven't heard about the Nokia E52 to make a statement like that. Nokia E52's battery performance is probably the best on the market. One month standby time and most importantly 8 hours of talk time which equals a full day at work. Many users says they can get 3 days out of heavy use and 6 to 7 days out of average use. This simply means that the E52's battery mostly needs to be charged once a week. That's beyond excellent if you ask me.

What's up with the battery? Spec sheet suggests up to 350 min talktime and 440hrs standby time! I'm lucky if it lasts 2 days, and thats without using any applications and very little talktime. Is there perhaps some or other setting which needs to be de-activated which might be draining the battery? I've also noticed that the 2 dotted connection lines under the 3G symbol are permanatly present. This is different to Nokia, where these line are only present while connecting via 3G, afterwhich they turn to solid lines. is this correct on my phone?

I agree with you. The build quality is very solid, no matter which part you squeeze, that's no sign of bending or cracking sound. The battery life is good, I do 3G online, FM radio, GPS (with google map) and music/video a lot. This thing can last for 1 day without a problem(None of nokia model can do that). The camera is excellent, but the setting window is a bit tricky. It seems that I doesn't remember all my setting well.

i just bought a tv-out cable for this phone and the output is wicked. i can watch my videos, photos, play music and games all in the large tv screen. nice done samsung! although it would have been better if you packaged the tv-out cable together with the phone.

Hi all, I am a proud owner of this phone now. The simple candy bar design suits most traditional mobile phone users, I get a solid feel on my hand clutching it. On the surface, it looks classier than similarly looking models such as L700 with it's darker shade of grey, generous screen size and compact keypad. The overall metallic style gives an executive-like perspective, sleek feel, and the battery cover is easy to remove while it clicks back in place after I am done switching SIM cards. As for the keypad buttons I must admit it is certainly not the best (Note: I have big asian fingers) as I tend to mis-press other buttons quite often, especially the left button which is close to the menu button. Camera function is good enough for me, its software seem to be similar to i8510 [INNOV8] but capturing power is at 5MegaPixels instead of 8. The flash is decent, I tried taking photos at night with all the lights off in a dark room and the photos turned out bright and clear like how a typical digital compact camera would produce. In my daily use I do send MMS quite frequently, and I have no problems sending to my friends after taking photo at 5MP (Obviously telcos do not allow such huge photos to be exchanged right now, but I am commenting on the ease of use, like how the phone cleverly resized the photos accordingly so that they can be sent via MMS successfully). As for the Operating System, I am happy with either Symbian or Windows Mobile. Yes, i understand from the many forums and websites I read that many users have negative opinions of both of the above OS. But then again, what are the choices we have as consumers? Nothing is perfect, and if I were to choose between using either these two OS or the respective phone manufacturers' OS, I rather take the former because of the versatility and flexibility of what they offer - e.g. using 3rd party apps, synchronization, file transfers, etc. Anyway, I have not had any service-level problems with the phone as far as I am using it. Battery life feels similar to lifespan of other Nokia Symbian phones if anyone is concerned, but this topic sound ambiguous to me as I think that different individuals have a broad variety of lifestyles when it comes to using mobile phones, so it is really tough to get a proper and fair judgment on battery lifespan. But one thing I will complaint regarding battery lifespan is the advertised standby/talking hours for mobile phones from many manufacturers - e.g. for i7110, 440hrs standby (3G) and 5h 50min talktime (3G). I definitely would not believe any mobile phone in the world could match their own claims on the X amount of standby or talktime hours. Not realistic. Last but not least, I would recommend fellow fans to grab a set too, especially if you are looking for a mid-high range mobile phone, and looking for latest mobile technology such as OLED (AMOLED) display, accelerometer sensor, WiFi, GPS & aGPS, FM Transmitter. Apart from those, it is good to know that you can record songs on the move from the FM radio channels (so that you can track down your favourite song and buy the song/album later), has a decent 5MP camera onboard, plays many video/audio files and formats, and Geo-Tagging. Don�t you think people that if a phone just not released for very long time that it is probably something wrong with that phone? Samsung generally fas to come up with new phones but this one seems like a lemon. SE X1, G900 etc. similarly just not engineered or not manufactured correctly.

Hy,i have had this phone for a month now,and it's a very good phone. I'm saying this comparing it to n78 n79 n85,witch i previously owned. The only downside of the phone is the lack of 3.5 mm jack. Out of the box the phone sounds kinda like the n79, not so lowd,but if u tweak the amplifiers for the headphones for it's menu, it's :o unfreakingbeliveble. The phone crashed once in this month,i don't know why althoug. It's very sturdy and it feels good in my hand.The battery is very good,when using the phone for browsing or something like that,the battery will last u a day,for music it will last u 3 days,but for calling, u can talk 1 hour when the phone says battery low. It's incredible. The screen is awsome, the divx decoder works like a charm. Price is reasonable......sound quality is good......... camera video recording is better compared to Sony Ericsson....... video recording is in mp4 format.... camera image quality is good in landscape mode.... that too only in day time..... night photography is worst as it lacks xenon flash.....user interface is not so pleasing like the Sony Ericsson..... opening images and then zooming it takes a lot of time....very annoying..... a bit heavy handset...despite of its pros and cons i really like it!!!

just bought the phone in sg last night and charge till this morning. battery low in the evening. did samsung just bullshit abt its battery? features wise is almost same as nokia. construction of phone is SOLID , mush better than nokia in every ways in terms of construction and quality. nokia got to kick off their old qc i suggest.

Battery life is a disaster - the phone is usually dead in 24 hours after charging WITHOUT REALY USING IT (dual band, WI-FI, bluetooth, music player, GPS etc. turned of) Returned the phone for inspection.

Got little problems with this phone. Calls disappear once in a while(though set to be saved for 30 days). Data stored on the microSD(documents, sounds, photos, applications) just disappears randomly. Hope next frimware will fix this phone's crazy features.

contrary to most reviews about the buttons next to the D pad, i have no problem with them. The screen is amazing. (probably the only reason why anyone would hang on to this phone) Music sound is normal. camera for me is a let down. images arent sharp enough, videos isnt as smooth as the n-series captures. but watching movies on the other hand is a delight. the divx software that came doesnt work after converting my clips to the format, phone just says file's corrupted. Wifi is pretty fast, but recieption strength is greatly affected by battery, if batt is low, WLAN says no wifi available evenif u r right next to the modem. buttons for phone is easy to use. this fon rivals n85, n79 build doesnt come close to this phone, the body solidly build n calls are clear.

Re: Battery life - I found it pretty decent. Just charged it for second time now. It lasted me the 5 days on one charge with heavy use of wifi and calls (non 3G). Found the bluetooth function drains the battery quickest.

The i7110 won't be able to use any Nokia specific S60 applications, including games, out of the box. I'd imagine after a few weeks or so there will be some hacks to allow it to run all S60 software though. The apps themselves have "check string" to see if the phones are Nokia, it's just a matter of either hacking the app or the i7110 firmware to show a "yes" for this check string. However, apps that rely on the accelerometer may not work too well since the Samsung hardware accelerometer is probably a different device than Nokia's.

I live in Germany and a number of retailers online say they have the i7110 & can ship immediately. Price around �340-�350 with shipping to Germany. Don't know how many will ship International. If Samsung can (with software updates) better utilize the OS, I think they might have a winner on their hands here. Not the most cutting edge Phone but great specs and pocket friendly(thin). I might buy this one!

Battery Life is great for Omnia. As long as you do not have your wi-fi on and on stand by just like other phone. I would say 3 days or more depends on your use.

Just bought the handset in Singapore; 688 SGD w/o contract. It feels great in the hand not too big or heavy, it has fast and smooth transitions through the software functions. The screen is also very bright. Very impressed with this phone!

You correct. IF this phone would of come last year around October I would of Buy it. Now is too late. I have my Omnia which is best Phone Samsung ever made, Iphone and my N79. Why would of need this phone. The N97 from Nokia coming shortly in by the End of the March. Why would of buy this phone. I had also INNOV8. It look good and build good but had problem. It was Slow, and Iternet problem. It would not do same Nokia S60 to configure the new network for internet access. I had alto of problem each time change my SIM card. So, this phone i7110 S60 probably have same problem.

Keep in mind he reviews top end phones for a living. Where is your review website? You also don't understand too well about why this phone can't get into too many markets. Quick update on the status of this phone: Samsung has announced that this phone will be available in Singapore by the end of this month. Also, for those interested, the manual for this phone is available in an English pdf on www.Samsung.com/ae this is Samsung United Arab Emirates website. After looking through the manual, this phone is definitely worth the wait!

This phone has features only seen on a handful of new top end phones. OLED screen, FM transmitter, 5mp camera with smile and blink detection (and the ability to shoot 120fps slow-mo video), Divx playback, realaudio playback, and geotagging. And a 1200mAH battery. This phone is far from outdated, if anything it's still ahead of the pack. This is phone is miles ahead of the Omnia. Also, it's currently being sold in Russia.

What you mean this phone out. Go back to the Web site and see what it say as it say every where you read. Not there yet and say up coming........ it does not mean they have it. As far I know they have alot of problem introducing this phone since has compatibility problem with Nokia Software. I had INNOV8 and had all kind of problem with being slow and software not compatable with Nokia. but quality of phone was great.

@Daan: It does have Stereo Speakers, but no 3.5mm audio out. There will also be a few tweaks to OS, however still no compatibility with most Nokia apps. Any major hardware revision, like a better GPS chipset or 3.5mm audio, will probably result in Samsung releasing a new model. This phone is part of Samsung's new GT Series, along with the INNOV8 (the new I7xxx and I8xxx model lineup).

The phone isn't cancelled. It is going to the UAE and Singapore. Once it reaches Singapore, we should be able to get it from eBay, so that's good. I don't think this will have a US release any time soon since nothing has been submitted to the FCC yet. The same thing happened with the F700, it was a big deal here in the US (to Samsung fans at least) but never actually made it here.

I have almost no clue what you wrote. I can manage to make out that you claim to be an engineering student and want an MBA (why an MBA???). You also say that in your country they are selling Civic hybrids at half price MSRP. Please tell me what country you live in so I can go buy all the unwanted Civic hybrids and sell them in the US, that's serious cash. Either way, you buy cars from from dealers, not Honda. Dealers can charge whatever price they choose independent of the manufacturer, the MSRP is just a starting point. Samsung sells phones in bulk to retailers, outlets, and carriers, and they follow this same business model. I don't think you'll do well pursuing an MBA...

@Rohit deshpande: The phone is already going to cost quite a bit due to the OLED screen. Cell phone markets don't work the way you assume, the phones don't all cost the same to make and then are priced according to demand. Since they're produced in large volume, cost of manufacturing and materials is a more direct factor to MSRP. The retailers are the ones who will raise the sales price, but I doubt they check comments on GSMArena. Also, you type like my 12 year old niece.

Nice phone and good specs, however does the i7110 lack a 3,5mm-audiojack connection? If so, I really really hope Samsung puts it in in the retail version. To my opinion, it's quiet a must for manufractures to put it in (nowadays). I'm also very curious about the music volume and quality on the stereo speakers. Hope Samsung does a good job on that! Sidenote: This phone is pretty much comparable to Nokia's N78/N79. What do you guys think?

The phone is available in Russia. X-Com has it for sale currently and there are even (real) customer reviews. After reading some of the reviews though, it seems the quality of the phone is the biggest disappointment. Samsung may change a few things before introducing this to other markets.

The 8800 Sapphire retails for a little over $1000, Mobilecity lists preorder for the i7110 as $700. Preorders from mobilecity are usually a good $200 more than actual price. Are you positive you have this phone? Not the u800 or something similiar? The i7110 hasn't been released yet, you may have a pre-production unit. The phone may launch next week or next month. I have an iphone 16gb which I want to sell in order to buy the i7110. I just need to make sure you have the correct phone, since no one else seems to have it yet.

i just bought i8510 and sooooo similar to this phone specially thE OS ( symbian 9.3 s60 3.2 ) and ur answer is a BIG YES . And u can use all aplications for these OS . The apllications of nokia n95 or n96 or ... are so similar and they work perfictlly well. really well done SAMSUNG .

it has the same specification as Nokia N85 in addition it has office utility which N85 does not have. compare to Nokia Samsungs sound and Display is better. Nokia provides 8GB Card along with N85 retail pack which samsung does not gives.it will catch the market if the price is around 16k.

The usual image gallery is damm slow is far behind nokia n series gallery 2)a search application would be a nice addition. (I felt that searching a contact by number there was no option as such "Search contact by number" in my i450 . other wise u can straight away enter number in nokia's search option and ur job is done. 3rdly samsung should add more advanced options in music player such as adding album art directly . Providing details of song at the top of screen . My i450 being a music device does not show details of song such as duration of song,therefore conclusion nokia has more improved software. 4) the aount of ram in i7110 is vry less off course the over performance through menus will be speedy but over time there will need for more internal memory . and there are greater chances of "not enough memmory " after . 5 there is no music adapter come on samsung dont be so cheap u can provide with a good quality music adapter . These r the major disadvantages that keep me away from samsung. (RAM point not applicable for innov8) Other than built quality samsung has no serious advantages over nokia

see the whole specs made me almost changed my minds from N79... i have no doubt samsung have a better build quality than nokia cuz my T100 lasted over 7 years when it finally broke down coz i dropped into the pool... but finally my biggest disappointment is because theres no 3.5mm jack..its just making me upset... i have a very bad experience with 2.5mm jacks coz 2.5mm tends to get loose a lot quicker than 3.5mm i use my dopod818 for a year and half , suddenly the jack internals broke and the whole device was crippled (no sound even on speakerphone) i wished that samsung changed their minds and put 3.5mm instead of 2.5mm :( *sobs* seems like im going back to n79

Why Anyone would need more than 256K Display? Is a trade off between 16M and 256k Display and that is Battery Life. Can not even tell much different by looking at the screen.

Features: 10 (It has it all... great display with OLED tecnology, great size display with 2.6 inches, expandable mamory to 16 gb, all conectivity from gprs to wifi, a 5mp camera with autofocus and flash... what else you want.. look at specs sheet....) Performance: 9.5 (amazing battery and talk time... it seems to be a rigid phone in all ways....) A great response to nokia n79... compete also with nokia n85... but nokia n85 it's a little better.. i want one of these now! :)

I was not a Samsung Fan but after I buy Omnia and INNOV8 now I have change my mind. I do love both Omnia and INNOV8. So, I believe the i7110 will be a great phone and I will be looking at it by the time it comes. Latly had alot of problems with Nokia phones such as E66 and now with my N85 has some minor problems too.

This device will prove a very attractive alternative for many to the Nokia N79. Just like the Samsung i8515 Innov8 is proving a good alternative to the multimedia flagship Nokia N96 now joined by the N85. Samsung have certainly improved their device offerings at the mid-tier and top-tier end of the market with good materials and like Nokia are offering excellent all-round devices for all segments of the market. It is regretable that Sony Ericsson, who appear to be currently apparently in the midst of internal political turmoil are neglecting what made them a success in the first place: being innovative and offering excellent mid-range and top-range all-round devices. This is dangerous. Also, their multi-media offerings could be brilliant. After all Sony is a renowned player as far as TVs, hi-fis etc are concerned. Why don't they apply some of that technology to mobile devices? Could it be that they are unwilling to, in case their stand alone offerings such as digital cameras suffer in sales if their mobiles are nearly as good. Samsung on the other hand seem to gladly port technology from one business unit to the other. As far as this device is concerned I would suggest it will be their best selling S60 device for 2009.

W902 is nothing compare to i7110 i don't think a java system is very pro se own a worst 5mp phone, you can see c902,k850i, this 2 phone capture a lot of noise, purple color. you see in the phone very clear,because the phone screen too small, small until the picture become sharp. try put it to computer see the rubbish photo captured by c902,k850i video record quality also worst i WARRANTY se phone cannot record video probably now SAMSUNG already using OLED, se still using an outdated screen- 256k TFT screen. SO DAMN CHEAP!!

Blue OLEDs have a lifetime of around 14,000 hours (5 years at 8 hours a day) when used for flat-panel displays. That is good enough time till you find a replacement. And am sure coming years will offer you much more and tempt you to change your handset anyways. There are some confusion though. Some sites says it has AMOLED not OLED as mentioned here in GSMarea. Samsung i7110 has bigger 2.6 inch AMOLED screen, DivX and Xvid player, DNSe 2.0 for better sound, slow motion 120fps video recording, pre-embedded 3D games(FIFA 2008 and Asphalt 4 HD), DLNA certified, Optical mouse for better browsing the internet, smile shot and blink shot in camera feature. Nokia N79 lack all that feature. Samsung i7110 absolutely more multimedia phone than Nokia N79.

Well the fact is OLED screen does not need 16 million colors compared to TFT screens because it is produces more vibrant and realistic color and uses less power without the backlights and it has wide angle viewing, maybe 180 degrees without fading the picture. A 65k OLED is superior or equal in terms of color than to 16 million color TFT screens.

Well, there is no doubt that this phone appears to be Samsungs response to N79. I like the look of i7110 better than N79 (personally). Heavy phones give solid feel, which I like, and much better battery life. One of the feature I like about Samsung over Nokia, is its Bluetooth function. I own a Nokia phone at the moment, and its a real pain managing Bluetooth compared to Samsung bluetooth. Samsung's bluetooth is pretty much like copy n paste on PC, where as Nokia has much less freedom. Really anoying when trying to share files.

This phone is quite impressive. But the 125 grams (Read: Hefty Weight) is a real downer. The lack of lens cover is a shame. No stereo speakers and 3.5mm jack is also a lack when Samsung is trying to release a counterpart to the N79. Although I've got to admit that I will love to own a phone with accents of metal and has a full-fledged smartphone blood, I will still set that anticipation aside if the price of the metallic materials will be the weight. And besides that, I will probably go for the Nokia N79 as a replacement for my Nokia N82 because the NSeries blood seems better for me because it has something to do with usability, comfortability and compatibility and I guess that's the serious advantage of Nokia S60 Smartphones over the Samsung S60 Smartphones. N79(NSeries in its vein) has the advantage of usability and comfortability because of the 3D rotating NSeries gallery which is the most comfortable gallery application that I have used so far. I mean, it somewhat tells you to go for more pictures as long as your memory can hold and you can't even think of limitting your files because you will for sure be too lazy on browsing over them on a poor gallery orientation and for me, it really makes a difference. Then another serious N79 advantage is that, again Nokia NSeries in its vein,it provides wider compatibility on currently developed softwares built around the S60 3rd ed FP2 platform (let alone the NGage games which is reportedly not compatible with any existing Samsung Smartphones). Samsung knew that incompatibility issues or something like that. That's why when Samsung is set to launch a counterpart to Nokia's solution, they often house it in a more sturdy and better build quality than Nokia's because it's obvious that lately, the NSeries makes full use of plastic and Samsung took advantage of that idea and offers a counterpart which makes full use of metal and provides some juicy finishing touches on the specifications sheet to win the buyers. For example, the Samsung i7110's camera features face, smile and blink detection which the N79 all lacks. That way, some features like that might be reasons for some potential buyers to go for the i7110 instead of N79. I don't know but these things really matters most as it all boils down to users' preferences. Still Samsung i7110 is a nice phone.

It's indeed samsung's response to n79. The only downside would be lack of stereo speakers. A samsung adapter could take care of the missing 3.5mm jack. Anyways it packs a lot more punch to take on N79 in my opinion. And I believe as usual this will be available at much lower price than n79. Cheers!!

I think you no look or you no read spec. N82 is 17.3mm, 2.4 inch display, 5 hours talk time, VGA 30 fps but has Xenon Flash, N79 15mm , 2.4 inch display, 5 hours talk time. Samsung i7110 is 12.9 mm, 2.6 inch display, 11 hours talk time, QVGA 120 fps. How you can say are same thing? Not including the package look. Type, and push bottoms on Nokia not so Good.

No doubt this is great phone. It got everything. It'd have been much better if it had stero speaker.

if they made this 8mega pixel, it would be bigger, and people would complain it didn't come with Xenon flash... and the whining list goes on and on!!! I honestly think samsung did a good job this time around, making this a top mid-range phone. I just hope the price will also be mid range!! If so, I am definitly snatching me one of these!

no..samsung didnt copy nokia ...or nokia did copy samsung..instead they both share their idea....samsung was the first phone to use flash....samsung was the first to use sliding ..just like what nokia did..they just share idea....

All Latest Features + OLED + Optical track pad + FM Transmitter + 3G + WiFi n not to forget the outstanding talk time ...... This phone sure rocks ..... I think they should have launched it in White or something else....coz its the same Samsung feel again .... the old silver steel feel .... But still its a winner for sure .... lets wait for the review....

Maybe you think you have all the goodies but the phone feel like a tank N95 when hold it. Take a look at INNO8 compiar with N95.Has 200% preformance than N95. N95 is 21mm and INNO* is 16mm and i7110 is 12.9mm. Big difference in size.

Thanks to Samsung. I use to hate Samsung and using Nokia now for over 15 years. All kind of probalem last 2 years with their phone and they behind in market technology. Only reason I bought Nokia was for S60 and now Samsung have with better quality phones. No reason to buy Nokia No more. I have Omnia, INNOV8 and Nokia E66. No problem with both samsung phone but have all kind of problem with E66 Nokia which I posted in E66 opinions. I was thinking ot buy N85. I mostlikly wait for Samsung i7110. The last phoen I had from Nokia which worked was N70. I had all kind of problem with others I have boguht after that. It is nice to see we have choice to buy other phones like Samsung.

So what!! As long as Samsung is not violating any patent all we got ourselves is a better phone with better specs. It's all fair. I don't think you get QVGA@120fps, DivX support, DNLse, FIFA 2008, Optical trackpad, smile and blink detection in Nokia s60. And for those saying it looks like this and that should have a look at soul b. i7110 is a perfect blend of Soul and i550. samsung did it with innov8. now they are adding another dent in nokia's very own Symbian candy-bar sector. As I see nokia's Profit going down 30% this quarter and loosing 2% market share, Its time for nokia to be threatened. Cheers!!

Blue OLEDs historically have had a lifetime of around 14,000 hours (5 years at 8 hours a day) when used for flat-panel displays. Couldn't find much info about samsung's small OLEDs though. Toshiba and Panasonic already found a way to double the lifespan.

Finally our dream has com true but.... I've heard that the lifetime of OLED displays are very short. Around 5000-10000 hours. If that is true than it means that after one year, the screen (colour, lighting etc.), won't be as the first day. Does anybody have information about that? Am I wrong?

Comparable specs(N78 with i7110)i don't think so.Maybe a few things.I was considering to buy N78 but i went to N82.N78 is crapy phone,full of bugs. About this Samsung,i like it.Maybe its too big but it a smartphone with all that features packed in.I may thik about for this one when its gonna be out.Very good phone.
