Xiaomi Mi 5c - User Reviews

  • Woah I never knew they had their own chipset

  • Wifi and bluetooth not haven

  • bro same prob

  • I have faced some problem with my mi5c. My data Network always showed 'H' or 'E' no 'H+'. How can I solve this problem? I also can't check my mobile balance, how can I solve this problem?

  • Because it does not support HSPA only for GSM and LTE

  • I have now bought 2. Better than Samsung 7 its competitor. In the bush I could get signal when no one else could. Battery life is the same as the Samsung.

  • It was f/2.0 in the specs

  • I must say something This phone is the first one with the company's very own and very first chipset and yet no dedicated reviews ?? Talk about bank robbery here !!!!!!! People that work for this site must hate xiaomi with a passion

  • typc headphone not support

  • I believe it's better than note 4x

  • And restart your phone

  • Good nihgt, i will shere my experience to change the poor signal in XIAOMI MI 5C INPUT *#*#1#*#* in call, you will in ENGINEERING MODE, and ENTER, choose TEL_ Asisten, telephony, next Radio Acces Tec, and move from 3 MODE TO 5 MODE and SAVE. finish. it's work for mine

  • ois?

  • This Phone Good Quality,, screen and body,,, i like

  • i have no opinion for this phone

  • has certification FCC ID

  • Don't think so but its chipset is low quality, not a Qualcomm chipset. Redmi Note 4X is much better in overall.

  • does the screen on this phone better than on xiaomi note 4x ?

  • same problem facing.

  • The less lifetime battery and overheating problem both were my first impression about this phone , and then i hv another one . Mine , signal never go through H+, it stays on E or H,so it's weak of receiving internet signal . don't know where's the problem, i've looked in to goigle and no result or same compalin about this . Hope anyone here can help or hv the same problem .

  • So I owned the phone for a week and damn I used it naked because the case hasn't arrived yet, it just feels awful to see three small dents on the side of the phone. :(

  • I bought xiaomi mi 5c few days ago but it is not Android 7.1 (Nougat) only 6.0(marshmallow)

  • Using it already for 4 months - got heated twice!! First time WiFi was defected. Corrected after factory reset. Second time WiFi & Bluetooth defected. Unable to repair!!! The device has heating problem! No Global ROM update.

  • Same here... Battery life is less than average with xiaomi.eu rom 8.3.5.0. 12h, 2h display using camera and Whatsapp. It's good for my working day at my office desk... A little overheating too, even when the phone is in my pocket! I have many other Xiaomi phones but I've never had any problem. This one looks really good but it's nothing more than good looking.

  • Battery life is less than average with xiaomi.eu rom 8.3.5.0. 12h, 2h display using camera and Whatsapp. It's good for my working day at my office desk only.

  • i already using this phone for about 3 weeks now, so this is what i can say about this product. pros : -good design n build quality -i can play a high end games with no lag but the phone will be heated quite a bit (just warm no problem) -this thing charge like a mad train. i mean when you charge this phone it only take like a half hour from 0 to 60% -so far so good especially the price cons : -built in battery (u can't removed it from this phone) -u can't add another memory, when i first bought this phone the remaining storage are about 56gb -the camera are not that good but quite decent actually -the battery life will last a day under normal usage and its about 2,5-3 hours for playing a high end games. so overall for that price range i still think that this phone its a real bargain especially that fast charging feature really does help a lot.

  • it can't use in Malaysia like U mobilie sometimes can and sometime can't i change to other network better for a will, but sometimes also cant so i sold the device, AP set for Xiaomi cant use in Malaysia, it give a lot of problem when i sell back the device at one shop in KL where i brought they accept trade in but loss more than 50% just think about it before buy!

  • HEY FRIEND could you pls tell me From where U have brought this device

  • Can I know clearly about battery life? We can use it for full day or not if we use only internet some and play game not much?

  • This phone is really good! (not the Best) for performance, I'm testing playing games like Need for Speed, Vainglory, HIT, Asphalt, MC5 etc without any lag! And phone is not heated, just warm! for charging time is really fast! and this camera phone is very good in price 300 EUR! But this phone can not update global dev/stable just only china dev/stable If you want to get GApps or Multilanguage you install the unofficial rom but you need to UBL (Unlock BootLoader) :( I'm using this phone is about 1 weekly 2 days. Sorry for my english but this is my review/opinion about this phone. Good for daily driver but not really good (not bad too) for gaming or heavy performance.

  • I dont know much about this mi5c, but im targeting to have it in my near future. As for redmi note 4, i love everything about the phone especially battery life. I thought having a bigger (5.5') phone is a burden but trust me, its better than 5 or 5.15' as you will absolutely appreciate the battery and screen size for games, internet browsing and video. One thing i dont like very much on redmi note 4 is the camera, its too average for me, mi4i have better camera in my opinion. One the other hand, redmi note 4 price reduce very fast in malaysia so its worth the long keep. Currently im using mi4c and this one is absolute beast in disguise apart not having fingerprint. Peace out.

  • Snapdragon?? Isnt this chip uses Xiaomi Surge S1?

  • Is this phone have NFC? I bought one recently and the NFC setting is nowhere to find

  • I've had this phone for roughly three months now, so here's my opinion. My phone before was an iPhone 5s, so some of these points might be in comparison. * The battery, while not Xiaomi's largest by a mile, is still quite generous. It can last a day under good usage without needing to be tethered to a USB cable. * Speaking of which, the USB-C cable is a blessing. I've never seen a phone charge so quick in my life. * When on 'fast charge' mode (i.e. via USB-C), the phone does get rather hot. Don't be alarmed by this. * The RAM is plenty. * The Snapdragon chip is a beautiful thing, and has creamed most applications that I've ran on this phone. * The camera's not fantastic. It's alright for basic photography, but video stutters considerably - I think it records at just under 30FPS at 1080p. Having higher FPS at 720p would have been a wiser investment for Xiaomi, I think. * Not having a MicroSD slot is certainly annoying, but not the end of the world - 64GB is a very reasonable amount for a phone, and despite my attempts (numerous movies, gigabytes of podcasts) I haven't yet been able to fill it up. * Aesthetically, it's beautiful. The back of the phone looks particularly awesome. * The price, at leat in Mainland China (just under 2000 RMB), is more than reasonable. In terms of specs-for-price, it's a good pick - especially in comparison to western brands like Samsung and Apple. The build quality's not as good, but is still fine. If you're after greater bang (or battery) for your buck, however, then it might be worth having a look at some of Xiaomi's other offerings - I recall a particular phone having a 4000+Mah(!) battery and expandable storage... Personal rating: 8.5/10

  • Is this phone worth buying? I really like the design of this phone and the size is just perfect for my hand, i can get this phone for $180 but redmi note 4 snapdragon has the same price, which one should i pick?

  • Why do you say that? Does your 5c have a global rom?

  • It doesn't support 1800 4G LTE band.....

  • Neither of these. You're wrong.

  • What kind of camera sensor is used by mi5c ? (front & back)

  • Ugly phone, ugly brand

  • Refer to this thread..

  • i m the user of this Xiaomi 5c phone, the battery drain very fast and heating problem, i buy it because of the design look good, but i dint realise this problem came from Xiaomi that famous until today will come out with this problem, i own few Xiaomi phone before but no problem like this Mi5c, in market so competitive, they also dont know how to improve the small problem happen!

  • Will be great if it has sdcard slot & nfc

  • Xiaomi MI 5c prive send now

  • Which is best, Mi 5C or J7 prime. ?

  • if this phone would have a plastic case, it would have been ugly.

  • it makes it harder and more durable, it also helps with water proofing.

  • Why do all manufacturers seems very fan of metal phones....metal phones have very bad reception on lte and hspa.....they should make plastic phones with high specs of processor....i hate metal cased phones

  • Front cam should have atleast f1.9, f2.2 is very ugly....

  • Is it supported with NFC connection?

  • What's your miui version rom, china stable or china developer?

  • are you ok?

  • just be quiet everyone its a good phone

  • what will be its price in india.

  • guys i like this phone from the design just wanna ask how about the battery .. is it spends full day ??

  • If I buy this phone from China. it will works at Bangladesh without any problem ??

  • Or maybe the opinion is based on Redmi Note 2

  • xiaomi surge s1? what the hell are this.......are this chipset trustful?

  • Very good phone

  • It's not that bad, but when you jump to Mi5 from Mi4C (especially considering the 64GB variant price nowadays is so low), it was like a rocket boost in every aspect.

  • if I buy a mi 5c... is it good or bad???

  • well, my first xiaomi was mi4c, ended up buying 4 more for ma family and friends. And while it didin't have the sensational battery of Note 3 or Redmi 3, it had a superb screen, was very fast, had usb-c and fast charging and was very light. Ni complaints there mate.

  • Ever since 4C days, I learned that Xiaomi uses C devices to experiment (with anything they want, including but not limited to battery, performance, camera sensor). I was a victim of Mi4C, but a happy owner of Mi5. Will only upgrade to Mi6, never again a Mi series with C in its name. I'd better go with Redmi Note series instead, some of them are actually better than Mi C series.

  • 28nm processor octa A53. More powerful? Maybe. More Power efficient than 14nm SD625? No.

  • No NFC again?? my god!!

  • is this processor better than snapdragon 625

  • I just tested it with a kingston usb type c OTG drive and transferred some photos over.

  • Yeah. I see the new Ferrari 588 does not have a much-needed trailer hitch .. lousy OTG is so sexy in a 2017 phone. A tiny cable dangling with a cheap USB thumb drive, Looks like a colonoscopy bag in an Olympic swimmer.

  • This phone mi5c does not support otg according to reviews.....lousy

  • mi 6 might be better, or more better. Sensor from omnivision, not know much, but imx 398 is better

  • camera is not as good as I expected. It really bad image quality compare with mi5...................

  • better buy Mi5 lah, new processor donno good or not yet

  • Try this, although i'm not sure it will work, because apparently Mi5c has this 3G problem. I hope they can fix it through updates so I can buy one too. dial “##1##” and select five mode.you can have a faster 3g network speed

  • I bought the Xiaomi from China, when use it in Malaysia, It only show E on the phone, cannot get 3G or 4G what should i do

  • xiomi should have a dedicated Card slot

  • dedicated memory slot should do.

  • Xiaomi is good and reliable phone but when it breaks its difficult to find good service with replacement gear.

  • what's the impact of disabling that? i mean in battery consumption and performance?

  • looks like mediatek X10 chip with some overclocking.

  • Actually RAM management in MIUI is too agressive, although you can disable in developer options under settings.

  • A betrer batery and sd card option in second sim thst will be good

  • Point!!! Xiaomi should take notice of it

  • In my shop i sold tons of them but never had xiaomi on my own.

  • I am a Xiaomi fan but Xiaomi is adopting some really idiotic steps. They are giving away big batteries for cheap Redmi series phones(4000mAh+) and only giving 2800+ for premium Mi series(Mi5,5s,5c). This is really unfair. You're spending more and getting lower battery. Other companies are moving towards 4000+ batteries nowadays to follow Xiaomibut Xiaomi itself is giving lower now. Instead of upgrading to Snapdragon 653 for Redmi Note 4, they downgraded to 625 lol. I know 625 eats less battery but also gives lower performance.

  • Then you never actualy have Xiaomi device

  • Ram is good enough but battery is low.

  • I don't think so. Xiaomi always have good batery management, because of poor RAM management

  • Pls review this mi5c phone gsmarena...

  • Why only 2860 mAh any game will drain battery to zero in less than 90 mins.

  • already had review by some youtuber, they bought it from China.

  • Somebidy plzzz tell me the released date ????

  • Any Led Notifications?

  • Is this mi5c front camera has wide angle lens?

  • 1 third of the iphone 7 price..nice work xiaomi..

  • since it's still using 28nm soc, and the battery is less than 3000, I'm not sure it will last a day. Maybe yes in the first usage, but after some updates in the future, it won't be that much concern of xiaomi to optimize the battery later rather than their new upcoming devices. Also... Surge S1 is the first pinecone soc. Usually fails come with first generation, better wait for Surge S2 to ensure my move to pinecone. Redmi Note 4X or Mi5s is still a better choice now.

  • Now, xiaomi become samsung, one step closer

  • It's very good that it's run's on "Android nogut" but it's battery capacity is more lower than other mi phones and NFC facility is not in this.

  • I am considering the battery capacity which is much lower then 4000 mah which xiaomi is using these days....

  • In Xiaomi 3rd and 4th gen standard, that 8+ and 10+ is not decent. It's easily reach 12+ and 15+.

  • Since this is an in-house chip designed specially and specifically for this device, i think xiaomi's optimisation might give us some decent battery endurance ratings. M guessing 8+ hours of web browsing and 10+ hours of video playback.

  • that's the reason why it has the Xiaomi's Chipset, Surge S1.

  • battery life very bad, for a screen of 5,15" at least 3200mah required

  • It's build on top of the 28nm manufactoring proces so it should be pretty ineffecient. However xiaomi normally chooses big batteries, so they are either very confident in low power consumption or really stupid.

  • I genuinely curious on the battery efficiency of this Surge SoC.

  • If you really want me to, I can give you a quick overview on YouTube on how the Mi5 performs with AOSP properly installed. As for how it performs on MIUI, there are plenty speed test videos to give you an idea.

  • I can't say much about the Mi5c as there aren't many reviews out. The Mi5s build quality looks a lot better than the Mi5 (the aluminium frame looks cheap and brittle and dents easily and the volume/power buttons are a bit loose). I have to say I hope the Mi6 looks similar or is a radical redesign :) As for performance, I'd say it's OK. It's generally snappy but there are hiccups and slow downs (kind of reminds me of a Samsung phone) although nothing I'd call major. It's still the fastest phone you can buy for the money (not counting the Vernee Apllo Lite as there are numerous trade-offs) and overall best device if you account for the cameras, battery, DAC, speaker, dual sim, IR, easy to service, Gorilla glass 4, and good size. I hated the black border when I ordered the phone, but once you use the phone you don't notice it unless you're looking at it. You look at what's on the screen and everything else is void. To put it this way: do you notice your front camera while reading this message? My personal advice is to run pure AOSP with DragonXia kernel OC to 2.3GHz and effectively have a Google Pixel if you have modding experience. It's blazing fast, the camera is still good and battery life even better. Not to mention you get none of the MIUI bugs like delayed messages.

  • Ya it's better but , I don't like fingerprint on home button

  • I choose between mi5 and mi5c. I reallllly do like xiaomi mi5, all performance. Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530... Can you write more about the phone? The only thing I dont like is ugly black borders around the screen. Is it noticeable ? About the mi5c.. Design is really georges, everything perfect, but what i dont like is cpu and gpu..

  • Hands on reviews show that it has a really slim black border, unlike the Mi5

  • I had the Mi4C myself (but I got mugged) and then the Mi5. The Mi4c is still one of my favourite phones. It does lag a little, and it gets a little warm sometimes. I didn't game much but everything I played was smooth. The camera, audio and screen was good with much better black levels than my Mi5, a louder speaker and a more robust design. It costs $100 online, I'd definitely buy it again.

  • Long waited design and build quality... Waiting for review..

  • be careful.. that's the mi5c "commercial" image.. not the real one.. the mi5 don't have any bezel on the commercial image.. that's tricky evil advertise thing right there

  • Don't you think that xiaomi mi5 prime would be better then mi5c? In Aliexpress it cost 249usd, from goldway seller. I want to know, how about xiaomi mi4c? How long did you have it? is it lag doing everyday usage (instagram, youtube, snapchat, facebook, messenger)? And playing better quality games? Because my friend interested with this phone.

  • This phone is very beautiful, i really like the design, RAM 64gb and camera. The only thing what disappointed me is CPU AND GPU. Whis xiaomi processor compare with snapdragon 625 right? And GPU with Adreno (around) 330? All important thing is cpu and gpu in phones. And mi5c has low parameters. Now is 2017 and latest xiaomi phone comes with sd 630&adreno330?. It's ridiculous

  • it looks like an iPhone and that is really BAD. Xiaomi, you can do better.

  • I Think the "c" series is the best creation of xiaomi. Love Mi4c and still be my best phone. Simple, good design, slim, looks and feal so goooood. :) Can't wait for Mi5c to replace my Mi4c.

  • No It has 64gb in build

  • Any Mi 5c user? Are both the front and back camera of Mi 5c are better than MI5?

  • looks very better than mi 5. MI 5 gold/white has a large black border, it looks like bulky. But it has no large border, It looks very cool!

  • bezel look good, no more large border

  • No card Slot?

  • When did launch in India?

  • Nice...but poor battery

  • The surge is made on the 24nm proces whilst the SD825 is made on the 10nm process. SD 625 should be better on power consumption. (btw I'm just being realistic, ofcourse I want xiaomi to succeed)

  • Yes

  • budgted smartphone good feature tech news in hindi

  • Where's the IR blaster?

  • i think they said that modem is programmable. Expect different versions and maybe somehow changeable lte bands

  • Is it going to support otg??

  • Guys, it's me again. Found this on the website of Xiaomi.. GSM 2/3/8 TD–SCDMA 34/39 TDD–LTE 38/39/40/41 Seems that it won't leave china...

  • When can I expect this in India

  • ufs or emmc ?

  • Mi 5 design look better and beautiful IMO

  • The camera of the 5C is better though

  • Mi5s is better, surge S1 chip is like SD625 or Kirin 650 of Huawei..

  • The display is really fullhd or higher as said by other sites?

  • According to the graphs I've seen it performs better than the SD625 in every single aspect, and considering it xiaomi who built it I believe that its been tested however I do think that you should wait a bit longer to see how it performs in real life before buying it

  • That depends, this phone is way cheaper, but also way less powerfull.

  • The mi5s or these?

  • shut up xiaomi and take my money!

  • What is the price ?

  • Performance or power consumption?

  • 1080p@30fps

  • Mi is best

  • Does this phone record video in 4K?

  • Better in performance, not so in battery life. SD625 balances very well performance and efficiency.

  • From the Mi Site: 移动2G/3G/4G 支持VoLTE 16Khz高清语&#38899; 联通2G 2G: GSM 2/3/8 3G: TD–SCDMA 34/39 LTE: TDD–LTE 38/39/40/41 底层算法可OTA升级 -------- That means that is not usable in all the world... is China exclusive T_T.

  • Wtf 😎 Xiaomi's own chipset, that is great leap for Chinese phone manufacturer ..But who's gonna buy this phone ,every other Xiaomi's phones chipset are better then this.. 28nm octacore A53,Xiaomi could have done better useing smaller die size and using A72..

  • band 20 LTE ?

  • Open your eyes n take s6/edge

  • A good start of using own made chipset congrate to xiaomi

  • First look looks like a mix of sammy and apple design. Dont keep this, the xiaomi own design are beautiful

  • Waiting for xioaomi stand on chip sources (snapdragon was no-brainer here, need to wait for this one to show it's colors) LTE B20 support ??? If both answer 'yes' this is my next phone ...

  • It's best iSamPixelphone until now!

  • lol..

  • Cool design, not as big as expected, which is perfect for me. We'll see how the hardware will perform. The bad is that it was expected at 175 USD, but now the price is set to 220 USD. For sure not expensive, but still dissapointment.

  • Actually this pinecone is better than the 625 SD middleclass.

  • I'd rather advice you taking the S7. It will be very cheap in next month when they announce the S8.

  • Buy Samsung

  • close ur eyes and take Mi 5s

  • What about Battery, it must me 5000mah

  • who is best xiaomi mi5s or s6edge help me i want to buy

  • That way of thinking led us from 4'' to 5,5'', so that's wrong. A 5,5'' 'bezeless' phone will always be bigger than a 5'' one, because the 5'' can be bezeless too.

  • Xiaomi's first phone to test their own chipset.Let's see how it will perform.Judging by the cores look like a bit weaker SD 625.Thought this one will have SD 653.Or maybe the Xioami Note 5 will have 653.

  • Pinecone is the name of the chipset, however, the processor is a Cortex A53 or something similar.

  • Gpu is underwhelming

  • No external storage no buy 😁😁😁

  • Lol with the name it sounds like a they're copying apple from 3 years ago.

  • A big no with pine cone processor. Yes with snapdragon.

  • Oh No. It won't use mediatek shit. it maybe wil use mediatek chip. Haha. but if it come with mediatek it should be come with Deca core, because currently the new Redmi Note 4 is Mediatek deca core. but the rumour of the new SD 835 is Octa core Kryo. maybe it will be Snapdragon.

  • If this phone using one of mediatek shit, i would not buy it

  • i hope its right at least that means xiaomi is fully committed to their great cheap phone strategy.

  • it isn't even official. The photo is from mi 5s

  • Mi Mix looks more original than this. Looks like a smaller version on a S7 edge

  • it will use xiaomi's soc, pinecone, some sources wrote

  • If it uses sd626, super amoled, 4gb/64gb then it's perfect for me.

  • this model is good but.....?

  • This model maybe using sd626 or Mediatek soc. They need an micro SD card slot.I have an idea why global SD card company don't want make nano SD card?.....

  • This is a entry level phone, why do you expect a mi mix?

  • My dearest.I have expected much more from Xiaomi!!!No DLNA,IR,USB V 3.1,morality complete Bluetooth, real screen size, external dedicated memory slot....!!!?Hopefully,modifications happen before its releasing!!A modified Mi Max version for sure, scientifically based on people's smart will have more success!!!Why!!!?People now have the greatest expectations from the golden Apple of China(locally called!)after 6 + higher products!!!Right now, waiting for Mi Mix and Mi Note 2 gsmArena review, let alone the Nano,s hearsay!!!Justice Rights believe in Factwriting!

  • No LTE band 20? Hm, I guess I won't be able to get this one either of the Xiaomis.

  • This is the best phone from Xiaomi...for now...5.5 inch screen...but i dont know if there is a different spec from the Mi Mix 6 inch...if you can see the durability video test made by Jerry Rig Everything on youtube...Mi Mix 6 inch survived...

  • Guise I think you're missing the point. 5.5" bezelless is like a 5 inch smartphone.

  • Ideal phone for me personally. Only thing missing are the extra bands since I live in the USA. Also a card slot would be great.

  • Get your facts straight Sammy fanboy. It is inspired by sharp phones, which are older than the edges.

  • Samsung inspired. Oh wait higher proce/ram. Oh wait cheaper price oh wait no recall history oh wait cheaper

  • Samsung is very successful with th edge fone this is not a threat to samsung,i n fact one can argue that th edge design inspired this "borderless" design

  • me too....5.5 inch is much better...

  • This can be the phone that finally pushes others into real Revolution. Apple probably will cope but Samsung and the rest of Android makes will struggle to get near It. H.

  • They will when they enter the US market officially. If Xiaomi would use those bands now, they would have to pay fees for using them without making money with it.

  • it will be of the size of S7 which is pretty compact and usable with one hand

  • One of the brittle phone ever made.

  • Note that the dimensions of bigger Mi Mix is almost equal to iphone plus which is not that big, but Mix has a 6.4" display while iphone plus got a 5.5" one. Now we can securely guess this Nano Mix won't be that much big in dimenaions to be called big or sth only cuz of its display size.

  • i dont think any xiaomi phones work on those bands. they have yet to make a phone to work properly in the US but the US as usual did things differently to the rest of the world and decided to go with bands.

  • It will not be that big, since the screen covers most of the phone, unlike other phones.

  • 5,5'' nano... WTF are we going!? Do we have to think about a wheeled suitcase for 2020's Xperia Compact?

  • If only It'd come with CDMA and LTE band 13. Got this shiny unlimited data plan on Verizon and no phone I've really liked that has come out that works with VZW.

  • Everything looks great but That camera hardware is crap by 2017 standards when most probably this phone will be available in the market. IMX398 plz.....

  • This is what I was waiting for
