You can update with CynogenMod to Android 2.3.7 but its still pretty dated. Recent Google updates were too cumbersome and filled the internal memory completely which basically stops the phone functioning, requiring you to remove all the Google stuff including Google Play.

My first and worst Android phone. What attracted me to the "back flip" was the flip-out keypad and its cool style. Simply awesome. The camera quality was not very good, but otherwise the hardware was solid. Unfortunately, the software made this phone garbage. First, at random times throughout the day, the SMS application would start chewing up 20 to 40 percent of the CPU time in the background. You'd only notice it when you open the phone and try to use it. Slow to respond to touch and apps ran slowly after waiting a long time for them to open. If you killed the SMS app the phone went back to full speed, but you never knew when it would automatically start again. This happened even if you used a 3rd party SMS app. The only solution might have been to root the phone and permanently remove the SMS app. Second, as I see a few users here have reported here, the phone would develop a problem with calling delay. No matter if you dialed a number from a contact or entered it manually, after you hit "call", nothing happens. The phone is still responsive and you can navigate back to the home screen or launch other apps, but it just doesn't connect the call…. Until about 2 minutes later, when the dialing screen pops up and it actually starts initiating the call. Maddening. A full factory restore was the only way to fix this and it still happens again in a few months even if no additional apps are installed to the phone. Don't even consider using this phone today for anything except placement in a museum. It's outdated and it was never good enough even when it was new. This experience soured me from every buying another Motorola phone.

I had just got a Backflip... I wish I didn't... the OS is so outdated ... I have no way of installing and running the apps I want (what a waste of money). The only goood thing about is is the 5mp camera. It is like "good food in the stomach of a hog".

the only problem's with this phone are 1.6 android (there are costum roms so you can instal new version) and there is no multy touch :( but everything else is fine. i have this phone over 2 y and it serve me good :D i love the flip keyboard and aluminium body verry beautyful phone :D

I've owned this phone since just after it came out, over 1.5 years now. Other than slowing it down by loading it with apps because of the small (2GB) internal memory, the only problems I've had with this unit that can't be fixed with a traditional reset (turn it off then on after a few seconds) is the battery life. I have to charge it every night and if I'm app intensive during the day I have to watch the charge level by the end of the day. Otherwise is a great phone with nice full QWERTY keyboard, good sound, good call quality (AT&T network not withstanding), and solid durability. Small screen compared to newer phones and processer speed is slow now, but for the price when I first got it, it has been a great phone.

My first Android system when purchased 10 months ago, I was abt to throw in first 10 days use,..lots of annoying problems...Then I rooted but was slow. I was too depressed by this phone.I was not able to communicate properly..And now I again flashed it with RSD lite and original firmware..and amazingly it is working very fine with increased battery life , no hangs..but we have to avoid more apk installation..Now I decide not to change next phone few months more..

If you own a Backflip and it has restarting, lag, hangups or any other problem that makes the phone unusable, I've got GOOD NEWS FOR YOU: 1- Root the phone. 2- Flash the recovery to J_r0dd's recovery 2.0 3- Install a custom ROM. I STRONGLY recommend GINTECH's Deblurred v2.2. It really improves battery life and adds some reeeeally cool features to the phone. And most importantly: It makes the phone 500% faster. I'm not joking. It's working like a charm. It feels like a completely new phone. But I must warn you: These amazing improvements are mostly due to the removal of most blur application (DEblurred). They make the phone laggy as hell and I did not use them anyway. So go on and google these things. There are lots of tutorials and youtube videos explaining the procedure. Still, do it at your own risk. It might mess up the phone really bad, if you get it wrong. But it is really worth it.

Try uninstalling Facebook. In my experience, since I usually add facebook, gmail & twitter, the mobile integrates all contacts into it's own. So imagine 1000 facebook friends being loaded everytime you try to open your add book, call a person, recv a call, send or rcv a txt. And there are just basic functions being affected regardless if you're on line or not.

Always restarts, and is probably the slowest phone i have had. it also takes about 15 seconds for the call button to come up when someone rings you.

The battery gets seperated from the contact point on the phone, making the phone lose power and restart. Try adding a thin piece of cardboard on top of the battery to keep it in place.

Go on motorola website and there is a zip file you can download. It'll have all the instructions on the page. But make sure you save everything first, cause after I did mine I had to do a factory reset and lose all my apps/calander dates/notes etc..

Slow. That's pretty much it. Its way too slow to be an android phone. My mother has it and i updated it from 1.5 to 2.1 since she said its too slow, and updating made little difference, in fact made it slower. Just as a warning to anyone looking to buy this phone new or used, don't. It can't play many games and is slow in all aspects (menus, texting, calling) and reboots frequently.

I've read a lot of comments and user feedback about this phone before buying it. The fact that a lot of people complained about its poor battery life, laggy software, slow processing, ocasional freezes and crashes really made me think twice about acquireing it, but after taking a leap of faith on this one, I am a happy and proud user of this phone. I rooted it, updated it to 2.1 and overclocked its processor to 691.2 MHz and I can't complain... It's a great phone. Battery lasts a lot more than everyone complains about... If I don't turn on wifi and use it for calls and messaging, battery drops only 15% to 20% in a whole day. It's more than acceptable. Software and overall performance is very adequate for calls, messaging and other simple phone-related tasks. However, don't expect its browsing and gaming performance to be as good as an iPod Touch 4th gen. If you need a phone with that extra something, a nice QWERTY keyboard and ever wondered what Android is capable of, I would totally recommend it. On the other hand, if you are a gadget enthusiast and want a lot more than a nice phone, go get the latest iPhone or a Milestone 2 instead.

I wish the phone had zoom on the video camera and I wish I had a timer on the picture camera. I think my razr was actually a better phone. I liked the featurews on the razr.I miss my razr. The razr was ahead of its time. I really don't dig a touch screen very much and not sold on the qwerty keyboard. I just was spoiled by my razr I guess. I miss my razr.

Then you will love using the phone. 2.bluetooth connectivity Solution for this is to download bluetooth file transfer and connect the other mobiles through this and u will find great service. 3. Battery Solution is to reduce the brightness and software upgrade. It will increase your requriment for a day. 4. Android 1.5 No possiblity to upgrade in india. We are unlucky in this. I bought it after confirmation of android upgrade.but I was cheated. No upgrade available. I'm a happy user of this mobile.

This has become the worst phone I have ever owned, and I have owned several. When I first bought it I found that it met my needs, but as time has gone on, I have found that I am unlock the phone when a call comes, battery life is awful and there is no memory, I can't even use the additional memory that I purchased. If I didn't have a year left on my contract i would cancel and get a new phone now.

It's a phone with an old hardware, but you can't beat the design, the keyboard is easy to use, sealed (so no risk of debris getting stuck on the keys)a nice camera (nice only it's 5MP but lacks in focus). Con of it it's the damn Motoblur. slows the phone to a crawl (1.5 android) and drains the battery. if you are in U.S. moto and at&t issued a upgrade to eclair which improves the phone at least 60%, better battery usage, more apps available, better memory management etc... if you are outside U.S. you can count on community builds, with motoblur, deblurred or even cyanogemod (froyo). any option improves the phone A LOT.

I currently use this phone, its not the worst but its not the best for what I want to do. Its more of the bastard child of android. The desktop android market wouldn't claim it, saying "This number is not asscoiated with an android system." hi everyone. my backflip is only 2 days old. ive bn wanting a smart phone with big screen along with a keyboard as i suck at using touch screen and backflip fits my needs. the outlook design seems classy and unique. the sound quality is good! the camera is quite good as well, plus if u download othr digital image applications, it acts as an add on t the cam itself. there are tons of applicatn tht u cn dwld just like iphone. the box contain the phone, battery, earpiece n a manual handbook. however, i dont find the handbook that useful. its quite vague. in terms of using the diff applications, the handbook doesnt shows on how to operate it. such as closing a web browser and stuff. the keypad looks good but not really user friendly, im still tryg t get use to it. within the hp itself, there r applicatn to demo on how t operate d hp and stuff but when i press on it. its not loadg or it leads me to a website which then shows, "page not found". but apart from that, its all good so far. battery wise, i think it depends on how long u charge and how much of the hp u use. its quite reasonable actually. i still like it for being unique but bluetooth wise, i tried t send/receive items frm other mobile but failed t do so. shld i dwld an applicatn fr this task? please share your views/suggestions. thanks.

Please let me know I want to use my backflip with the wifi where proxy authentication take place. My firmware is ANdroid 1.5 (cupcake) but there is no option to configure proxy settings in wifi configuration. Is there any app to install for proxy settings?

vincent, you need to download a free app called bluetooth file transfer. then you can transfer,for some reason there is no native app. i will also advise android manager app for tethering wifi to your PC. 2 more very interesting app - google skymap-it takes u through night sky, giving hazar funda on stars. uber cool. second, talk to me - must have - u speak in english a phrase, it speaks out in all languages. very handy. i tried 'f**k' to hindi...it said 'bhad me jao' :) ... i am also very curious about bad performance reviews. honestly i haven't found any major faults, except one. sometimes some app, specially email app, crashes saying android process failed. but its rare and not really a nuisance. i am also devastated that 2.1 isnt coming to india. so started some research to figure if putting custom rom is worth trouble & warranty loss. whats i found can be summarized as this (i am not a tech geek, just a business user, so may not be fully comprehensive) - - 2.1 claims to be far zippier. but didnt found any significant difference on my colleagues wildfire - it has good voice control. lots of things can be done on voice. cool feature. - 1 more home screens than backflips...no big deal!!! - google earth is available on 2.1. will check this on monday to see if this is cool. - multiple gmail accounts consolidation...no big deal - more app on market...true. however there are enough that run on 1.5 - will check more. cheers

The phone looks different & stylish. its not a typical candybar. it also has a good heft & size is right. e.g. galaxy s / milestone xt / desire look & feel is too big & showy(personal opinion). display is quite good, certainly better than wildfire (my colleague has one). sunlight visibility is not great but that you cant do anything, unless you have superamoled. it doesnt have blur but UI is clean. sound quality is good with headphone. for even better sound, invest in some good headphone. player UI is basic, i.e. no equaliser. but you can download a player from market. i found 3, 1 free. video havent checked yet. keyboard is quite useful. i am already addicted to it. but be warned, it is not for sms fiends. it comes with a motonav built in. this has 650 indian city map. very useful.i found backtrack also very useful while surfing in landscape mode. i am a business user. so found corporate emailset up very easy. quickoffice is quite good for viewing attachments. it opens everything. camera is quite good. video capture is ok, no HD and all. box contains standard stuff, charger, USB cable & 2 Gb card. cons is of course android 1.5. battery lasts for about 1.5 day with heavy usage. i out the battery in power saver mode. performance sometime becomes slow because android automatically opens hazar apps. so u have to download advanced task killer first thing & periodically kill the apps. it also saves battery i bought it for 16800 in mobile store. i actually wanted to buy quench but liked the design very much, so bought this. if it had 2.1 i would close my eyes & recommend.

Backflip is an awsm cellphone i must say... advantages: beautiful looks, sound is good in headfone...keypad is beautiful..backtrack is good for show off but hardly it make any sense...camera is very good...user friendly... disadvantages: battery drains very fastly if ur uskin net...internal memory is very less (150mb approx)...means u can install android applications till 150mb...un-upgradable OS (most of the places)...bluetooth transfering system is not so good...video callin supported but via software... ranking according to me 7/10...

It's a great phone. I, for one, fell in love with the design as soon as I saw it on the store and said "I want THAT one", so the girl behind the counter replied "The Android One?". At that point I knew I just HAD to buy it. Screen's great, music quality great (but volume limit a bit low if you ask me), and a guy with big hands like me has to LOVE the big, confortable backlit keyboard =D About the upgrade, well, Motorola is being called Motofail because they wont launch 2.1 (let alone Froyo) in all regions, but there are mods to let you upgrade to 2.1 and it's easy. I'm from one of the unsupported regions (Latin America) and I've been in Android 2.1 for a while now. I'd say, without any fear, it's the cutest, most beautiful phone ever (at least for me). I'd love a Hardware upgrade someday, but keeping the outside design.

SMS can be forwarded /deleted - open text message - choose message to delete / forward - tap & hold the message; menu will pop up video call is probably not supported...but trying to fig out. i am only 2 days old & its my first android. till now no major issue. only crib is eclair / froyo upgrade. then its a damn neat phone (otherwise also its a neat phone)

I personally advice people not to buy this phone. I feel that Motorola doesn't care about Indian users and there is no update for this phone till now and it runs a 1.5 (cupcake) version. The battery backup is only for half a day if you want to use internet frequently. There are too many bugs in this 1.5 version for Backflip. Battery doesn't sits properly. Audio clarity is good over headphones but not on the phone speakers. Software Design - 've too many bugs. Battery backup & software update is the major problem I face. Advantage - I love the hardware design which has a keypad and messaging is easy. Htc Wildfire might be a good choice

we can connect the wifi in the phone by changing the encryption type in your modem.. juz open any browser and type 192.168.1.1 in that use admin as your username and passwrd then in the case of encryption select "NO" so that yu hav to search your wlan and some times it may be hidden so you can type your connection name and then it wil be connected.... if not juz post your problem i wil .clear yours..

THe phone hangs because the battery is not the right size of the battery slot. So, the battery keeps on loosing contact with terminals. This phone has a design flaw. Atleast your phone hangs, this one keeps on restarting when I am on receving end of the call. Its so frustrating.....to loose contact when speaking on the phone afterall that is basic and most imp function of a cell phone...

I think all the people that have a backflip that hangs. Should post their Andriod Firmware version. This should give both users and Motorola an Idea about which firmware is the most stable. It would also help people who check this website before they buy a certain phone.

Nobody at Motorola HQ or any other office for that matter can tell me when the backflip is going to be released in the Netherlands. I called consumer service severall times emailed even a lot more but to no avail. They keep me running around in circles, the backflip is released however in Germany, France, Italy and Spain :( The German version is no option for me because the've got a QWERTZ keyboard instead of an QWERTY one. And I can't read French, Italian or Spanish. Any ideas on this subject are most welcome.

Really depends where you live. Phone can be exchanged within 7 days regardless of any problem. After that, the warranty covers a committment of service within 4 hours. (used to be 1 hour before Apr this year!) So most people, in case something goes wrong, drop off the phone (which, BTW, takes no more than 5 mins, unlike at least an hour like the almighty brand), go out for shopping (as the service center is in the heart of the shopping area), have a drink / lunch, and there goes your phone.

I've had this phone for about a month now. My take on it is: Look and feel: Bulky and heavy, metal finishing. The touch is extremely sensitive and responsive. The model I have is a full black finishing and looks good. The qwerty keyboard is a feather touch one and is not easy to get used to. I use the onscreen keyboard more often Camera and audio: Very very ordinary. The camera has no extra settings or options and barely manages a 4x digital zoom without blurs. Default audio player is very loud, but low quality compared to other phones in the same segment. Camera is dull and causes the phone to freeze if the surrounding is very bright (!) Software and speed: The andriod OS is a dated version and the phone is excruciatingly slow. Install a theme and the performance is horrible. I have experienced a whole platoon of bugs with the phone so far: - Alarm clock works intermittently (!) - Accelerometer causes screen to freeze with or without themes - Two songs play simultaneously if an addtional music player is installed (!) - Photos are blank if the sky / clouds are photographed (!?!) - Phone cannot be put in silent mode in a single button / shortcut My conclusion is that either I have a bad piece of hardware or Motorola has released its worst phone ever!

still no justice with my backflip... a week into the process of replacement cuz of manufacturing defect, no screws on the backpannel , screen dangling and the phone just hangs. i really hated the phone after seeing this and now i hate the service even more. pray for motorola to survive in India i see no scope this way.

no all 3g phones do not support video calls, 3g is for high speed data transfer, and is your mobile has a front calling camera, then you can make video calls with the help of 3g

My V600 from 2004 is still working fine, and I owned the Backflip for about a month and it showed no problem with the flip or the keypad. Can't understand why so many have concern about the keypad. usually when phone gets blocked after multiple attempts of lock code...it will need a s/w upgrade...try it from motorola website to do s/w upgarde with the android latest version and check ....most of the phones do get rectified by just doing that...considering you have bought it online..we never know what was set up or what was the configuration on the phone...the problem which you faced seemed to be handset was never unlocked..you can try that or best get to a phone repairers

Hello, I just bought this phone from Amazon, which was supposed to work with all mobile carriers. When I inserted my SIM card, it asked for SIM network code. I contacted the mobile operator and they provided me with PIN and PUK codes. None of them worked, however. After 10 attemts the device got locked and I am not able to use it as as a phone. However, I was able to register on Motoblur using the wireless network and have successfully created the Motoblur account. I tried to use another SIM card on the device, but still get the "Device blocked" message. Would be very grateful. if you can point me in the right direction. Thanks,

u can change the home location for the weather using the settings once you are in the weather application, i removed the weather that was preloaded and reset it to my location.. i also use 4 different weather widgets with the locations i visit on a seperate screen. my home location which i have made my primary weather is also displayed when in alarm mode.. play around with the settings and you will find the options and settings for what you want to change and set

On my music player, It only shows the title of the songs! All of my songs are from my personal albums for a few songs that I transfer from itunes. How is that when I look at my music on my Window Media Player, I can see all my music information including the album cover. I don't get it. I don't even recalled how I even transfer those musics. both the milestone and the backflip are a different set of phones that have different features. When comparing the specs, clearly the milestone is destroy the backflip... its faster, has a brilliant screen and is much sturdier feeling. (i have this the milestone and i love it)... if you want something different, something with "toyish" features (i.e. backtrack pad).. this phone is for you. Also, the backflip is cheaper, smaller, but comes with a downgraded version of android. Personally if cost wasn't too much of a restriction, i would stick with the milestone.

wow! i love this phone! Got it 6 days ago and it just gets better and better. This is a very social phone, the happenings widget keeps me in touch with my online friends and email alerts in the notification bar are very handy. I was very concerned about the lack of bluetooth file transfer support "out of the box" but the apps suggested to me do a brilliant job! Backtrack is awesome, really cuts down on the gross finger smudges. I especially love how I can choose to either use backtrack, touch screen or keyboard. Hasn't crashed and it's quite fast and responsive. Only thing that's a minus is the android keypad, too small (and I'm a girl with small hands) also the keyboard buttons are hard to press, when writing lengthy emails and texts it's a bit tiring. Picture quality is good but the display lets it down. I sent a picture i took with backflip to my old phone (NokiaN95) and it looked much crisper. They're my only drawbacks. Overall the performance, functionality and especially design deserve kudos. I'm rapt I have a phone that works a treat and looks like nothing else out there. Good job moto!

Yes, it is true that out of the box the phone can't transfer files via bluetooth. However, there are free 3rd party applications that are available on the Market like Bluetooth File Transfer and Androbex that can make it possible.

The ME600 (model name for Backflip in China) is relatively expensive, as it costs around US$630. In US, the non-committment price from AT&T is US$350, and US$500 from Best Buy. And one can get a Motorola Milestone (which I'm using) for around US$537 in Hong Kong. So the pricetag in China for Backflip is relatively quite expensive. (certainly agree Chinese are the ones with $$$ nowadays) I'll wait for my next trip to US in July to get either Backflip or Dext, (not sure if I can get Dext unlocked and if supports global 3G)

This android phone just came to Chinese market several months ago. I bough it last week and here is my experience of this phone. [System Speed] Fast as you expected. Most of app you click on the icon then it goes up in a second. Send email, browse internet or play games without delay. And it is stable, I just sometimes encounter the app hang by connect issue. After a while, it resumed and never down in the past week. [Phone Design] Very good at touch, phone call and keyboard typing. I don't need multi-touch on the screen but a physical keyboard is much efficient. And I found that backflip can provide you a different angle of screen view, good function. [Screen Display] Very clean and sharp, good quality. I just hope it can be good for read as blackberry bold under the sunlight. [Battery] Good performance, it can last at least two day even you use internet and phone call a lot. I think if Moto provides a 1800m battery then this phone will be replacement of your laptop. [Price] This phone is not cheap but OK for the price compare to other android smartphone in China. Not expensive and you sure will fall in love with it.

this phone is what i'd call a true world phone. great job moto. it support quad bands 2g and quad bands 3g that in the u.s. both att and t-mo can use it on their 3g network. it's very nice as far as size and finish. i've been playing with the demo unit and like it, but i wouldn't buy it b/c of the backflip style. if it's a reg sliding unit, then i'd get it despite it's not 2.1 os. i like the motoblur service a lot. i have the cliq which i didn't really like b/c of the 3 hard buttons. but for this one, it's almost perfect except it's a backflip.

i wanna buy this phone!!! we just saw a presentation about this phone and even checked it and I would say that this phone rocks!!! no more hassle for logging in and out of your online accts. nice qwerty keyboard and it's too good for a 5MP cam. you can even upload pics directly from your phone tou your online accts instead of using USB! ... if only we have some good plans that will give you a competitive data for your phone. lucky for optus cuz they have unlimited facebook, twitter, myspace and youtube access!!! you won't even get charged for emails pushed from your gmail...wanna buy this phone so bad :(

I like it overall, have only had it one week, have used my wifes iphone and i use and itouch all the time to browse at home and to play music. You can upload non market apps easy enough with the sdk, but there are plenty in the marketplace for me anyway. Im just figuring out some of the tricks and shortcuts, and if I had to have any complaints it is that I haven't gotten into whatever habit will keep my pocket from dialing people, and the battery life is way too short if you dont go to lengths to optimize how you use it. if you play with it much, the battery only lasts 24 hours or less.

I played with this phone the other day and the keyboard is not bad, its a single sheet of thin plastic (like what microwaves have for buttons) and moisture proof. I dont think theyll get scratched easily with normal care. i liked it but prefer my N900.

The store just didn't want to waste one of the few they had by selling it no contract. The reps don't make a dime when you buy it that way and they would rather save the limited device inventory on upgrades/new service. Once they have more stock available it shouldn't be an issue. You can always order from Amazon no contract.

it is very funny that in the U.S when i went to the AT&T store to buy "Motorola BACKFLIP brings Android to AT&T" but the agent at the store told me that they can not sale that phone for me without the contract even i already have AT&T account. Later i tried to call to the customer service they did no solve my problem as well. In my opinion forget that phone if u can add a line or upgrade qualify in ur AT&T account. Smart phone in stupid store.

I don't worry about setting my blackberry down with an exposed keyboard but I am also not setting it on the keyboard. The exposed keyboard is on the back of the phone. To think that its not gonna get chewed up is ridiculous.

I have a Backflip. I went to buy a Blackberry 9700 and while waiting I starting playing with th Backflip. After an hour of trying everything I could on the phone I left the store with the Backflip. The screen is small, but looks good. Installing Opera Mini took care of any need to use Google for search. If you like the installed browser you can create a short cut to Google and put that on your home screen. The track pad on the that is on the back when the phone is open is one of the things I like most. Great for scrolling through long pages and browsing. The keyboard is better than I thought it would be, but provides a definite contrast to the light touch that the screen requires. You know your pushing a key, it takes effort. Syncing with my online Google calendar was easy and so was setting up my e-mail. I am liking it after just a few hours with it.

Having spent today playing around with one I have to say that it's really nice. Video streaming was crisp and clear as well as easily watchable with it half open on a table. Voice calls were very good and texting was great both with virtual keyboard and physical. I was surprised at how fast I could type on the virtual without mistakes even though it's a small keyboard. 5 customizable home screens are nice. I spoke to a Moto rep and he said that 2.1 upgrade should be coming in around 60 days. I gotta give it thumbs up. I think it's a good start for Android on AT&T and they have tons more to come.

Now if it only had been FULLflip with THREE positions, and not only 'BACKflip'.... Then you would have had three modes: 1) Closed, protecting everything. 2) Opened, to use as QWERTY-phone. 3) Backbend, to use as a bar-phone. The thing is what makes Apple and Android OS have alot of apps is that it has alot of single purpose apps. (one can almost get 2 Backflip for the price of X10) Upgrade to 2.0: Moto already promised Backflip will be able to upgrade to Android 2.0, if not 2.1. How about X10? Design: Backflip offers a very unique design, which can be quite practical. X10? Quality: Moto is known for making quality "communication products". Look at your gov. hmmm...this phone is really worth a try. now i'm using nokia n97 and i'm really proud with this buddy, but after read that the pioneer has return with the brand new model i want 2 buy and try it by myself. about the design, i don't care of who's copying whose coz i think there nothing really original with technology specially with cellphone tech. and as far as i know PDA phones is the first whose introduce touch screen tech in their smartphone. so please stop saying that motorola copied iphone or something like that. and let us as a user decided which vendor can provide and give us a product which is filled all of our need from every aspect at least almost all of it. so lets see if this model can give me what i'm looking from multi media and business phones.

Great design. Was expecting it for a while now (touchpad at the back of the screen is useless though, and adds unnecessary cost). Engineers! Give us two optical touch pads on both sides of keyboard that can be used as touchpad buttons is well, and also If you're not lazy, you could make them with miltitouch function.

Vladymyr, Motorola came back huge with the droid which showed that there on the move as the hid in the shadows waiting to unleash there next line of phones, they definitely look into the eyes of apple and just say you only have one phone, which happens to be rather pricey and there monthly plans are expensive as well, Motorola on the other hand has many mid range to expensive phones now and on the horizon all together. There are also many chinease phone companies of there own there are far more developed in technology then our phone over here, they make the cheap rips off because desperate people will buy them just taking advantage of a market if anything its the most intelligent weay to fund there other cell phone companies.

Thanks for your info. Why Mar 24? I heard rumors about Android 2.0.1 (for Milestone) will be available around end of Jan. While Nexus is already using Android 2.1, other makers maybe upgraded to Android 2.0 around Mar as well. Though not sure if Backflip is within the pack. Currently Milestone is being sold for US$600 (no contract & unlock) where I live. As though Milestone is indeed a very powerful phone, the price is a bit out of my budget at the moment. Worst of all, the bugs with Android 2.0 are more of the problems. I can get a Milestone "with contract" about the price of an unlocked Backflip. If Backflip is available where I live, I might get a Backflip first and wait for prices of Milestone to drop further.

First of all, don't get me wrong, in general, I do like flip phones. Personally I'm using Moto V8/V9/V3maxx/V3maxx imode. My mom (also dad used to( uses nothing but flip phones (currently using W510 & K3), so are my in-laws (W270 & V191), partly due to the open to answer / close to end feature. However, out of all of the above, only I drive! Let me tell you, trying to open the flip and enter the number while driving isn't exactly easy. Indeed, last nite my wife (using VE66 & iphone) asked me why I kept the flips "open" while driving. In terms of scratching the screen / keypad, I don't think iphone or all other bar phones are doing / can do any better. Just get a pouch or something.

You don't seem to get the design of this phone, it flips "from the back" That means when the phone is closed, the kepboard faces "outside" along with the camera...being the exact position as iphone or any other touchscreen device with camera. How often do you type SMS / browse web and take photo at the same time? Even so, you can close the flip and do that.

Everything seems ok except the design. The QWERTY KEYBOARD is always exposed & there is every possiblility that the keypad gets damaged often.

A very ingenius design. I don't think its a brilliant idea to expose the wide qwerty keyboard all the time. There's nothing to it except the fact that you increase the possibility of shorter life expectancy of the phone because of the amount of dirt and grimes that the entire keyboard will accumulate. Their point of considering a wider keyboard area for the user does not justify the design applied to it.. It may get some consumers but with the design, it wont be too many unlike the other phones in the same criteria..
