  • You need to unlock phone. It will cost some money.

  • please am in africa how can i change connection it always tell me to press unlock code please can you help me???

  • well this is now 2014 and after having this phone for years now please don't even buy a used one because you will (never) be able to get flash for it and we all know flash is needed for almost anything on a cell but hp promised and even had it on my phone when i bought it that flash would be happening in the next while (never happened did it hp)...???? anyway folks stay the hell away from these phone or anything from hp they do not deliver on anything and to this date i have expressed this even as far as on twitter and nothing not even a tweet saying nothing??? so goodbye hp i wouldn't even buy ink for a printer when i needed it so i busted the printer and went and bought another brand so folks if promises not delivered is what your looking for instead of the actual product being delivered to you then hp is your option. write me if you need further proof that hp sucks period...... don't buy anything from hp and show you care about these huge corp giants that as a consumer we just wont sit back and take there crap for another 10 years or even 10 more days if we stick together just maybe these creeps will hear us but in todays world i doubt it very much to many of these $$$$$ makes them help ignore the everyday person like us on these forums who try but they don't care just venting because of the shit they promise thanks folks and if you buy hp you deserve what lies ahead for you and even as i speak they have also now promised something for the touch i think it is but don't quote me but it is one of there crap things a update customers in the air about it so there you go another promised update which people will neverrrrrr see and maybe just maybe a sorry for the inconvenience but i highly doubt even this from a corp crap giant like hewlett packard (crap everything )

  • see my post

  • When setting-up new account you HAVE TO have data access to internet - at leaast for creating account and basic set-up. You can actually use somebody's SIM card with pre-paid data to do so. Then you can use wifi to do anythig else - no more data access needed. To be able to use App Catalog software you have to turn off auto-update of date (from net) and set date to june 2013. Then download of application update (from app catalog) run it and you are set! Turn back date auto-update and you can use App Catalog. That's all to do on all WebOS devices when starting up "clean".

  • I have purchased a palm pixi I have erased all data . Good .but after rebooting it asked to create a palm profile . I have hardly entered them . After some configuration I have tried to enter the APN. Even though I entered the APN correctly an error message popped up UNABLE TO WRITE SETTINGS please help !!!! If u know the solution please mail to [email protected]

  • Hey Im in Africa with a new Palm Pre phone, how do i activate it?It says get your network provider somethin, how do i activate it.?Should I take it to the Network Provider guys & how do they get it to activate with wireless

  • Really great phone. Works perfect for me at least. No problem with WI-FI or Bluetooth

  • I stopped working screen repair itself did not work, and repair service refused to take the phone. Show you how to fix it.

  • This is a kind of vry funny phone bcos i found it difficult to connect with wifi, bluetooth, and browsing.

  • i ve very bad experience with pre palm.problem with blue tooth doesnot on.not conect with wi fi.i enter my e.mail adress and pass word,it asked me for APN NUMBER.now palm is stuk and i unable to go to meneu.unable to delete the videos.plz help me.my e.mail [email protected]

  • I have been trying to enter my phone settings, but have not succeeded so far, esp. with the message: unable to write settings, Rudi

  • I had been a die-hard fan of palm since the original palm pilot...thru to the treo 750. This by far was the worst experience I had ever had with a phone, and it only got worse when HP took over. I've been locked in my carrier plan until just recently and I can't wait to have a new phone; below are the issues I've had for ~1 yr: 1. freeze up randomly and have to remove battery to restart, 2. battery goes from 80% to 0% in a matter of 5 minutes of data use, 3. apps are hit or miss and sometime show they downloaded, but never actually make it (namely the HP Maps...right when they took over the Google Maps) 4. reception is progressively getting worse; although, I could probably blame some of that on my carrier).

  • We bought 2 of them 1 died after 1.5 years and the other one will be 2 years in September with little use and is dying also worst mistake i ever made with a cell phone was getting these poorly made and very poor preformance

  • how can i clear history of my e=mails i have a plam pre

  • Hi You need to export data base from PRE create new line with data-it's not preloaded with MTS settings(you can use SQL data menager) plugin in firefox) filled with MTS 064 data(detailed instruction is on palm central)then import it in PRE.

  • help. soon as I took fon everything was ok, and I found the "Erace data" or as it is called, but I thought it was a "factory setings" and probably is, and then do its work and began to flash on and chose language itself and perhaps even a setting and now impossible to override the profile setting palm and my phone is unusable. I've created a profile on the website but can not connect to the net via WAP to me to manually adjust the settings for the net and I put the what-mts on this site apn = gprswap username = mts Passw = 064 and I constantly says "unable to write settings" and in this I only can I use emergensy call. When I put all this information and go to "change settings" Is it just my little spin and says "unable to write settings." otherwise my sim card is set for the net and with any phone I go to the net. and I should go over wap on their server or whatever so that they can use the phone. help pliz.

  • I used a Palm Pre for several months and it was the worst phone I had ever used. The keys were too small and not so smooth. The biggest gripe I had was the battery life. I was never able to get more than four hours of continual use with it & that was me shutting things down and lowering the brightness to a bare minimum. Truly a dreadful mobile.

  • i cant creat a palm profile,can anyone help me ???

  • The worst phone palm could of made, the sync or web platform as they call it with Yahoo is slow, does not do all the calander changes let alone the contacts. If you loved the palms before with the usb cord for the sync manager stay with it. I have had this phone for almost 2 years and I will never get a palm pre ever again. There was many bad reviews about this so make sure you read into it before buying, I made that mistake and totally regret it now. Good Luck.

  • yes it has multi touch

  • I have had my palm pre for not even a year and I have had nothing but trouble with it. The latest issue i have is the screen doesn't come on when it should. I am not impressed at all and being on a 2 year contract it is very inconvenient for me. If anyone has any suggestions on how this can be fixed, I would love to know. I would never ever buy another palm pre or recommend it to anyone. Thanks

  • guysss please can anyone help me about where can i get its pc suite i will be really thankful to u tell me ASAP

  • Does it have multitouch?!!

  • Only if you root the phone using webos quickinstall. which is actually really easy to do, not as hard as other operating systems. But once this is done you can use the flash as a flashlight. but to answer you question it is not a stock feature that is enabled without rooting the phone.

  • Please can anyone tell me if LED Flash can be used as a Flashlight independently? If so, is there a button or sequence to push, if so what is it?

  • Great phone, multitask, internet, TV, textin and no issue with dropped calls. Everything you want in a phone but no SD card slot. Other than that it next to perfect.

  • Great OS but terrible hardware. The phone is small and convenient and does everything a larger smartphone might do. Multitasking is great and multitouch is just like an Iphone. The only problem is that it's not a great phone. It drops calls a lot and breaks up pretty often. It's also slow in picking up so you have to return calls a lot. Overall I wouldn't get another and will switch to high end android next time out, but OS gave the phone potential. Too bad Palm didn't do its best and now it appears HP isn't doing so either.

  • doesn't every phone have SIM slot?

  • All I want to do with this phone is to text. After reading all the reviews, I am now worried I shouldn't have bought it. is it a decent phone to text with at least????

  • are palm phones available in india

  • plam pixi have sim card slot....?

  • Pre has good features for a business phone, but is underpowered. Battery power is the worst that I have had. Always runs out of charge and takes far too long to recharge. Getting contacts off it to other phones is a challange and on to it also from other phone is equally problematic. Wish I had not wasted my free upgrade from 02 on it.

  • 1. Right, increase storage and RAM 2. Yes You can. I use O2 UK on Indonesia

  • Guys, 2 questions. 1) The only difference between the Pre and Pre Plus is the multi-touch input and increased storage on the Pre+ right? 2) Can a Sprint branded phone be unlocked for use in other countries?

  • Anyone knows when will the Palm Pre get the webOS 2.0 update ?

  • hhh thats not a good phone i have a samsungs3600 and i charge it for 2 hours and thats enough for the whole week hhhh

  • You forgot GSMARENA to write what it also has multi-touch.

  • i love my palm pre i charge it a night and it last all day until the next day

  • this phone support Arabic ?

  • The Palm Pre is awful. I cannot save any phone numbers with regular certainty. The battery dies if I do not charge it twice a day and Sprint is useless with servicing this dud. I'm actually going to buy a new phone in January and pay full price as opposed to keeping this worthless phone. Prior to the Pre, I had the LG Rumor which I used everyday. Now i use my work bb for everything as my stupid phone is never available .....ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • I do not have any problem with my palm pre's battery life, I charge once in 2 days. In the manual it is recommended to charge everyday to have a better battery life cheers!

  • mine last a barel a day if i dont use it lol and if i like use it to fone or text i get like 3 hours or summet before it start goin well i just want to know how much longer does this give me ?

  • Just want to say that the phone itself is great but the battery power is absolutely shocking. mine only lasts 1 day (if i don't use it) and thats with everything turned off (Wifi, bluetooth etc) I have to charge it daily at work just so it will last until the end of the day if i use it for texting or internet. Don't buy if you are regularly stranded somewhere and need to make lots of calls for help!

  • Plus: Its open-source operating system means it's very customizable using preware, with lots of free apps. Its touchstone charger is a definite plus. The vertical slider allows convenient one-handed use. It has a durable keyboard that works well with my stubby thumbs while not being too large. Minus: It has poor battery life if you use gps and the internet. It crops large videos without asking you when you try to send them over mms. Sometimes it takes an extra second to respond when you're trying to answer a call.

  • I have had the pre since June 09, I will soon get number 7, terrible build quality.

  • Great phone, better than Android and compentitve vs iOS. HP go on !!

  • this is the worst phone i have ever owned. I got it in Febuary 2010 and have had it replaced twice so far and now it is gone again for screen lock up. I should never have listened to the dealer that's for sure.

  • so good phone .

  • @nick have you tried upgrading it to 1.4.5? because my palm pre is just working very well, webos for me works better that android, of course battery drains faster if i use data connection a lot of times.. but for email check and web browsing for a short period it is just enough.. why dont you get a backup external battery for a 30 USD to 50USD, this will help you for battery drainage issue.. maybe you can buy cheaper battery pack..

  • I am very sorry to say that this is one of the worst phones I have ever had. I got it when it first came out with high hopes that I was being clever not following the crowds and getting an iPhone. I soon found out how wrong I was. Having had a Palm PDA I thought it would be good for organising and have a decent calendar function etc. It isn't. This is not to say that the iPhone is good for organising, but I wouldn't get a Pre for it's PDA abilities. The battery life is shocking, I use my phone a lot and the battery will rarely give me more than 12 hours usage, often the battery indicator shows that it has almost full battery, right up until it shuts down. The phone is slow to respond, meaning you often end up pressing things you don't want to as you assume your first press hasn't been registered. Whilst I haven't found the size of the keys an issue, you generally need to press very hard for some to respond, making sending emails and texts a sometimes laborious task. It is not all bad. GPS is very good and being able to open more than one application at once is useful. The camera is good and the MP3 player is too. However, the app store is really not very good - especially compared to the iPhone app store. This phone has so much potential to be fantastic and I am hugely frustrated that I have found it so useless. The updates to the software that come out every so often have made it better, but it is still not as good as an iPhone. I just wish I had followed the crowds and got an iPhone.

  • i have had mine six months so far and i love it.. gps is good, email is good, texting is good, camara is good, music is good, internet is good. the free apps are great to, calculator, weather, dictionary, clock, calendar, maps, this phone is awesome and everything i need at the touch of my finger. there is still more to learn.. by the way i have sprint nascar and sports too...wow its just dam good...................

  • I have a GSM EUROPEAN version of PALM PRE, and with its 1.4.5 OS and additional apps as of now, I think this phone is really cool. The webos is competitive against the apple ios and android, only applications are not much. in fact I prefer the webos over android. Only big deal for me with PALM PRE is the built quality, if only made with stronger and less scratch sensitive material, this is really really good. but price now has gone down due to less demand, however this is still one of the best smartphones for me.

  • sir..if you find the phone difficult to use it doesnt mean that it sucks..maybe it is not just the best phone for you..

  • Great phone.....I like it....;-)

  • The Palm Pre has the absolute best operatong system of all smartphones, it is intuitive, fast, and easy to learn, with limitless possibilities for customization for those who are tech savy. The downside to this phone is the phone in and of itself, the hardware is complete garbage, I love this phone, but I am on my third unit. Don't know about other carriers but Sprint happily replaces the phone at no cost. Bottom line is Palm has the best software, but the least reliable hardware. PS This was sent via my Pre, internet works great!

  • this phone sucks it has a mind of its own and is very difficult to use

  • I would never get another, not sure I would even go with Bell again. Not happy with the service or the phone.

  • Palm Pre is absolutely the worst phone I have ever owned. You can't keep it charged even if I keep it plugged into my computer all day it goes dead before I can get home, the internet doesn't work well on it, its difficult to slide open, the keyboard is too small, and its a pain to answer an incoming call. If you are planning to buy one...don't. Im counting down the days until I can dump it.

  • L wish it had voice commands to do the calling. I really miss that and it is a hazard when you need to call someone.

  • I hate this phone! It has a mind of it's own and is VERY unreliable. Have had no internet for ages despite all my hard work I can't get it to do anything - just when i really needed it - it decided to fog out - it's pants and I'm going to get an i-phone replacement

  • i was initially enraged but embraced my retisence to the extent that i actually changed gender based in the Palm (B)O(Y)S. How i long to be an engendered girl again, full of the wistful gaeity I once cherished as a user of the Philips Savvi.

  • I found Web OS to be ok. nice multi tasking approach with cards. The hardware is quite poor though. the build is cheap and the warrenty criteria can have you void it just through having slightly worn USB plastic door as it wears easily. I have slashed my self to the point of bleeding with this phone. its dangerous!!!

  • It was painful.

  • Palm Pre = Cesaerian Section. end of story. Also, my name is a palindrome.

  • I attempted to hard wire my Pre to my mothers Stenna stair lift. I thought it would be a marvellous experience for her to multitask whilst travelling at 1MPH up her stairs. Unfortunately the transmogrification process failed and all I was left with was my mother welded to her stair lift with the Pre glued to her forehead.

  • I used to have an aversion to facial laceration due to a childhood canoeing accident. Now with the Pre by my side I am so used to having random elements of my visage lopped off that I no longer have my irrational fear. Also the keypad is so nice and squidgy that it reminds me of an overcooked blancmange reclining in an inflatable hammock.

  • As a superhero i need a device that can help with stopping crime. The other day Devious Dan and his brigade of bandits covered the local town centre in cheese and wax. Thankfully due to the sharp edges of the Pre i was able to scrape the mess completly away thus saving the mayors bet dog Bevis.

  • i have this phone for a year now, although palm busines had sunked, but this unit is really a real thumbs up.. webos rocks.. i have compared ios 4 and android 2.1 with webos, all i can say webos does not defeat android and ios 4 but it still palm opre with latest webos still not left behind.. in fact is much better than any nokia, windows mobile or blackberry touch screen OS... all negative point i always feel about this unit is the built with cheap plastic, no matter how you take care of it, scratches appear due to sliding up and down..

  • love all Palm products...

  • worst phone i have ever used. give the hardware a 2 out of 10 only because i can touch the phone and not feel all that to worried about it breaking in my hand. give the software a 9 out of 10 i like how i can run multiple apps at once. battery life is poor at best.

  • How many email accounts you can have on palm pre ?????

  • This is definitely my best phone ive tested. i've tried Nokia most versions including their touch screen devices, i've tried Apple iphone 3gs, i've tried BlackBerry (all their models) and to me this phone has the best OS and the best graphics. I love it

  • I was wondering if you have to pay extra for wifi?As I was planning on getting the palm pre. Any reasons why I should not either would help. Thanks.

  • Owned this phone since the day that it came out. My opinion, I love it! The phone design is nice, the camera and video recorder is above par, but WebOS is what separates this phone from the rest. I have played with many android os phones, as well as the new iphone 4. The card system in webos and its use of gestures simply blows these other os's away. Having owned this phone for a year now, I will not upgrade to any phone that does not run webos. Hp is going to start backing up this with better hardware, so if you like this phone there will be an even better experience to come!

  • i have the same headphone issue, simple answer and fix ITS NOT AN MP3 PLAYER! fix, BUY AN MP3 PLAYER... glitches from apps, is the developers fault NOT THE PHONE, the chassis of the body is crap i know that, and battery life is terribe, solution, buy a second battery, turn brightness down, AND DONT BELIEVE WHAT PPL TELL U ABOUT TURNING WIFI OFF, if u can get wifi, USE IT, go war walking/driving, finding all the wireless networks in ur neighborhood, usual route to work, and connect to every one of them ONCE, and everytime u get in range of that hotspot the phone will automaticly connect to them, wifi runs alot faster than 3g, and ur not pumping out data at higher rates, in turn using more power. turn vibration off, you really dont need it, i cant even feel it in my pocket going off, turn gps off unless u need it though, also turn background data off in location servises, palm uses it to "trac kur movements" and get feedback from ur phone, using ur 3g connection not only using battery life but ur monthly bandwidth (not much at all but still its UR MONEY)to all those having problems with the phone slowing down, close some apps, restart the phone every now and again, sure it WAS meant to be on all the time, but its basicly a computer. clear ur history, and texts, freeing up ram, and a lil bit of storage space. check ur phone for updates, 1.4.5 was just released on the 15th of july, and flash should be in august with the release of the previously know "froyo" os, now known as android 2.2. another is uninstall any useless apps( c'mon, you know half of the ones u have are pointless, do u really need fart factory lol)... hopefully this helps some of u ppl, i'm overall dissapointed with this phone myself, but love it at the same time, webos is an amazing platform, and am GREATLY looking forward to buying a webos tablet.... ANY ISSUES U HAVE WITH THE PHONE THANK HEWLETT PACKARD they bought palm, and have butchered its ideas... glad i got this over the iphone though, iphones too overrated, friends who own iphones are jealous :P

  • yeah theres way better phones, best thing about the palm phones is the webos, you can thank hp for that one, they bought palm, the ONLY THING ACTUALLY MADE ORIGIONALLY BY PALM is the os

  • worst phone ever...same goes for the pixi..damn all this phones..caused so much issues..they're all rubbish...

  • Dear all. I have had 5 Palm Treo's before the Palm Pre. One of them I still carry as well, because the Pre is just very unreliable. I work with this phone and use for email, sms and calls. No games installed..... What is mainly very disturbing is that you can only do things when connected to the internet. Great when you stay at home, or always in range of a cell network, which isn't always the case. No way that you can sync with outlook, unless doing it by having a web account that stores all your contacts and agenda data, like google. You actually buy a phone, and the rest has to be sorted out by yourself with third party software. Great.....when you have a factory unlocked palm Pre like me. Through my country and network provider I am stopped to go to the App catalog to get the software needed. I had to install through developer mode and other tricks that most users are not able to do. So...even the third party software isn't available to users like me. batterie life is extremely bad....less then 8 hours..while my old treo's did 24 hours. You always run out of power every day, unless you carry your charger with you next to the phone. Backups can only be made through Palm website.... May I choose myself please? Am I the owner of the phone? Or did I rent it from Palm? Do not use it on the charger and surf the net.....you will eventually burn your hands on the batterie. Handy for cooking an egg, but i want a "smart" phone. This phone is the baddest one I ever had, the developers of it do not use phones themselves i reckon. Smart phones should be developed by "smart" guys... It looks fancy....that is it..useless for the rest. My Treo's were fine, especially at the days past when smart phones were rare. I believed that Palm would use the experience and made the Treo even better with the Pre. In fact, they lost it completely... Mine is for sale...although I would feel guilty to put someone up with this thing. probably use it in the kitchen for cooking.. Don't buy the palm pre.

  • Best phone I've had, WebOS do a better job than iPhone's OS. Don't listen to the other reviews, you'd love it if you know how to use a phone, there are also update releases every now and then unlike other phones you wait half a year, so bugs are fixed instantly. Flash 10.1 will also be coming to the Pre soon which supports the GPU accelerator the Pre has so you'd be getting the best out of mobile browsing. I really have a softspot for Palm as they've made an amazing job on the WebOS platform but not many people know about it, I just love WOWing my friends, it's a great piece of hardware and software although the screen build isn't as great (get's scratched easily although it's glass) so get a screen protector. Overall amazing phone, I love the gestures it's simply unique as no other phones have them, Apple love bumping their customers as they couldn't care less due to the amount of demand they get because of mindless people who only go for the company that seems popular. Palm Pre is like an iPhone 5G, it's just a shame the company kind of went downhill, I hope the coalition with HP changes that.

  • the worst phone i have ever had. had an iphone before this and shud have stuck with it. the battery life is extremely poor and now it is starting to slow down even tho i still have 5gb of memory left. the apps are also very boring and the fone freezes all the time. i also find that i have to restart the fone to get txt messages to come through to my inbox. extremely ppor fone and no wonder palm has went bust

  • I have my palm pre for 6mnths now and have more problems with this phone than I ever did with my rant. I am on my 2nd refrub and I am very disgusted with it. Sprint wants to do a hard set but I run a business with my phone so therefor I can't lose any of my stuff. They told me to back it up but we have tried several times to do that and the only thing that is kept is my pictures and e-mails. I am at the point I hate this phone. I liked it for the first 3months but it has been nothing but problems

  • I bought this phone in december 09 and it was the worst purchase ive ever made in my life! Endless faults and haing to b sent back to the manufacturer and i was with out a phone for 3 - 4 weeks at a time. The reception is rubbish, turns itself off when it wants, cuts calls off, freezes etc. Just awful. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, ONCE YOUVE SIGNED INTO A CONTRACT YOUR STUCK WITH IT! I wouldnt even give it a 1 out of 10!

  • The Pre simply needs to have the brightness in its settings moved to the absolute minimum as they made a super bright screen which eats the battery.I saw this mentioned somewhere else and I have done it.ONLY doing this has meant that the battery is comparable if not BETTER than an iphone 3GS's.Try it - apart from that it is a lovely little good looking and much more different than anything else in the market. I truly love mine.

  • palm pre no longer available...

  • hi all is it possible to make a video call on the palm pre. i've got my pre for 5months now and i'm loving it.

  • Battery life was horrible..construction as well..went thru 6 pre phones in six month period.. always had headphone jack issues or glitches due to apps. Rep told me its not really designed to be an app phone and would not tell you which app was causing problems. This thing was horrible.

  • i love this phone the only prob i had was the baterry would last me 2 to 3 hours

  • release Numerical Keypad Phones not all persons comfortable with touch and Qwerty keyboard phones.... Thank You

  • battery life is more like up to 24 hours or 60 minutes talk time....unfortunately

  • Bill Gates alone can buy 40 Palm

  • not 1billi is 1.2billi

  • all palm fans the company was sold to hp for 1billion $$$$ so hp bought palm

  • big news Hp buy palm

  • the worst decision i have ever made. the worst worst phone ever. had it for 5 months and is gone for repair twice!!!!!!!! unbelievable

  • Give me a break. I have this phone since September last year and I haven't had a SINGLE problem or issue with it! The software updates from Palm are regular, bug free and always pleasantly surprising. Btw, the IPhone is way worse than the Pre or Pixi! They just have more resources (read: money) and that's how they can brainwash any airhead out there.

  • webosbuzz.com has the new .ipk files to get free paid apps like the iPhone.

  • Had this for 10 days....fab phone till Palm sent thru software update which has killed it. A person who shall remain nameless at O2 recommended I swap for an iphone as Palm software is so unstable. My handset has just frozen so I have to take it back today. I'm lucky as I'm within the 14 days but if you're outside that it has to sent for repair.

  • does anyone know if you can update via computer?

  • If you've had your phone for less than 14 days, O2 have to replace it, after that they'll repair it. I'm on my 3rd phone and the 2nd one had a repair, so it might as well be 4th. O2 are exchanging it for an iPhone next week. I'm not the only one with such an experience and the option was either a BlackBerry or an iPhone. They did try and get me to accept a BlackBerry first though.

  • tried to install webOS 1.4.1 and installation froze. took half an hour of just the booting page, and whenever it is turned on it hangs... shame because otherwise its an awesome phone! wonder if o2 will give me a free replacement no questions...

  • The Palm Pre was the only phone I could find that would sync with Outlook Desktop (not Exchange). Granted, I had to buy a commercial product to do so, but it was well worth it. I love my Pre, and although I have a little Android-envy when it comes to applications, the number of applications are rapidly increasing. Also, if you are an older generation Palm user, many of the Classic applications will work on the Pre using a Classic emulator.

  • THE BATTERY OF THE PHONE IS SUPPOSED TO WORK LIKE THAT. The more you charge your battery frequently the longer its standbye time will be. (odd battery behavior). Some tips to make your battery life longer is to turn off all unnecessary applications like WiFi, extend the time setting for email retreival, decrease the gamma ray on display settings and close unused applications in card view.

  • I have got this phone at the moment and I have had a month or so to play with it and I really like it. I am finding it really easy to use and the screen is very clear and I like watching films on it and I was watching a film on it the other day and I managed to watch the whole film just before the phone died on battery. Then when I charged it again the phone all of a sudden started to keep battery life for much longer then it used to I dont know why but now I can keep the charge up for at least 2 days instead of 1 like I used to.

  • basically the same specs except of the absence of center button. Its replaced with center indicator similar to palm pixi. pre plus also has a higher memory like doubling the normal memory size of the normal pre. pre plus under verizon also contain more software upgrades and application.

  • Hey GSMArena, where is the Pre Plus? It's been sometime and I don't see any specs on this phone. I know it's basically updated Pre, but why isn't there any info about that? Apart from this, keep up the good work.

  • palm pre plus

  • yes you can, you can also view some streaming videos.

  • yes you can do that as long as you have a physical address in usa for future service matters. make sure you configure your phone according to your position to make sure you will have the correct gps service

  • you only need to sync it with your PIM from your desktop to you palm profile database and it will synergistically sync it with your email and other app as long as you add your email account to your phone.

  • it is now for palm pre plus under verizon wireless with weos version 4.0.1

  • you can use Data Transfer Assistant (DTA) if you want to transfer your PIM from your desktop to your pre using USB cable

  • im an insider of palm tech support..yes you can still use ur PIM even if your phone is off line. Palm profile which is the data base of the device will update your PIM once a day.. overall assesment of the phone is, it has the best platform ever specially its synergy feature except for the data loss occuring during os updates. correction for the web os version of web os that shoots video. it webos version 4.0.1 which is still catered by Verizon carrier.

  • better then the iphone.

  • Sure someone else has already pointed this out but GSM Arena need to update the spec for the Pre, it does now shoot video (courtesy of WebOS 1.4 update)

  • hi, i have a palm pre and have to say im loving it!! its amazing!!.. With regards to your q about staying online: no you can switch off data from the phones settings and use the phone as normal and then turn it back on or use wifi when you want. about the usb 0transfer q: there isn't any supplied softare i know of that does this, but with 3rd party software you can do this. Also if you just want to takes files off the device and put new files on it, you can't choose to turn the fone into a mass data device allowing it to connect to the pc. hope this helped.

  • y did it's camera can't record/capture a video??dissappointing

  • This phone is too bad to be true.

  • Hi I'am thinking of purchasing the Pre and have a few questions if anyone can help. 1.Does the phone have to be connected permintly(i.e. like the Blackberry)to us all the fetures on the webos. In other words can you go of line to us your PIM info. 2.Can you synic all your details via a usb connection without doing it on line. With Thanks Bert

  • If you get them from Germany theyre unlocked :)

  • I believe it will depend on where you buy it. Unless I'm mistaken, the Palm Pre is not exclusive to one company like Iphone is. That means you can look for an already unlocked cellphone.

  • Can i use the mobile directly in India by shipping from USA or else is it required any unlock option like iphone. Thank you in advance

  • 1. No you cant create groups, but you can send a text to more than one recipient 2. No You cant 3. Have to admit never used speed dial, universal search works in a similar vein. 4. Depends really id say i could get 6 hours out of it purely calls 5. CDMA doesnt use sim cards at all 6. IMO yes it is 7. Id say so, i love mine!

  • I have a couple of Questions for someone who is using the phone. 1) Can you send messages to a group of 10(Can we create Groups to send sms) or more at 1 stroke or you have to select every indiviual everytime you want to send a Text to more than 1 person - A big bug in the earlier Treo Mobiles!! 2) Can you send messages to the whole category example Business/Friends @ 1 stroke. 3) How many single key speed dials are there ? are they same to the earlier version of Treo Palm Os ? 4) What talk time is available on a single charge ? 5) In CDMA version is it Sim card based or Programming based ? 6) Is the Touch functionality comparable to I-Phone ? 7) Is it a worthy buy @ 300$

  • you can yes :)

  • can you view video on this thing or what ?

  • Its not the same package tho. My boyfriend has the HD2 and has been warned about exceeding the excessive use policy by O2. Even tho the HD2 is a smartphone unlike the pre and the iphone O2 do not offer a smartphone package for the HD2 so it doesnt have truly unlimited web access. The pre is also now £100 cheaper then the HD2 on a 24 month contract as you get the phone for free. The palm pre also includes free wifi access across the country with cloudfi so you should hardly need to use the 3g connection.

  • You had the G1 and now hate all Android? That's like buying a model T and hateing all of Ford.

  • you think android sucks but you think the nexus one and x10 will be good lol

  • Harold, I have to agree with your impression. SW seems to be very handy at times (email, Calendar and contacts !!!) however battery life is unacceptable. just having the phone on 3g and blue tooth, will kill the battery in less then a day (no Internet, less then 10 min talk time)/ on one case it died on 14:00 ! (day started at 06:00 and it was on the cradle all night). moreover, I am now facing new issue with synchronising the email client to yahoo account. it will do it once (right after setup) but will stop after downloading the email and prompt a error :username/password not correct. so far o2, palm and Yahoo could not find a solution. any suggestions?

  • Ive had this phone for 3 months now, on O2 Irl, and an very happy with it. I had a N95 8 Gb before, which, in my opinion was the best phone ever made, 2 years i had it and no problems, so the Pre has big shoes to fill and so far it has done so admirablly. The interface is intuative to use and nice to look at, if a little slow at times(Not so much so to annoy though). The homwbrew community is rich, the patches available from the preware app have increased useability (landscape e mails & notafications). The kyboard, a little small at first, is excellent. I hated the software keyboard on i phone, at least i know that im actually pressing something with the pre and i can actually write proper e mails comfortably compared to my N95 with its numerical keypad. Quake & Doom, need i say more, oh wait, i can, Flash 10.1 support coming soon! Thank you palm, for listening to your customers and providing us with updates that actually improve a phone instead of bricking them (i phone!). Im not saying the phone is perfect, there are issues, sometimes hanging, slow opening of programs, but in my opinion the pros far outweigh the cons and as we know, there is no phone that is perfect. Im not going to argue with some of the opinions here, because they are just opinions but im sick of reading comments from people who clearly havent used the phone, apple fan boys go home! Accept an opinion, dont argue blindly. Anyway, thats my 2 cents.

  • i´ve had the pre for over two months no, had the iphone 3g for one, and had the G1 for 2 weeks(android sucks) and Pre is one of THE best handset ever maid not to mention 512mb RAM on the Pre Plus for VW( also we Pre is coming with Flash and EA Games is makng games for WebOS). If there is a phone that is better to use on EVERYTHING( web, apps games all) COULD BE either the Nexus One or the X10 not even the Milestone(not yet proved).

  • I've used the N900 for over a month and after buying this phone, the experience is very unique as is it's webOS. The card multi-tasking makes your quick app switching a breeze. Same power as the iPhone 3GS and the best part is Palm listens to its customer and provides newer firmware upgrades making ones experience a much pleasurable one.

  • So Harold, or anyone, which one do you think is better? Palm pre or Nokia N900? Thanks for the answer!

  • I enjoyed your review/opinion about the Palm Pre. Sometimes people tend to only see the PROS about their purchases and it's healthy to see someone with their eyes open. Just one innocent question: have you upgraded the software right? Even so the battery doesn't last 1 full day?

  • I've been using this phone for a while, so here is my honest opinion about it: The OS itself has some really great features, like the multitouch screen, the card view, the ability to multitask, the calendar, over allthe software is great. I have no complains about it. On the other hand THE PHONE'S HARDWARE IS HORRIBLE. after several months of use, I have come to the realization that at least 90% of the phone issues come from the hardware. The response time is bad, really slow, and it seems to be a processor problem. some applications can take minutes to load. It often struggles to decide between streaming music on bluetooth, the phone speaker or the headset. I always take good care of my phones, however, the palm gets scratched very easily, for example I have a pearl I bought right after they came out; after years of use and abuse, it still looks in great conditions, unlike the palm that has become really scratched, and honestly I have treated it good. I think the components they used to build it are the cheapest ones they could get.The back heats up a lot regardless of moderate or heavy use. Battery life is worthless. The only way I can get a full day of battery is if I do not use the phone at all, I mean What is the purpose of having all those features if u can only limit the amount of use. I guess I could buy a spare battery, but why should I bother doing that? palm is the one who should worry about it, not me. There are a lot of other issues, but it would take several pages to list them all. Over all, the phone as a whole has some great things to it, unfortunately they don't make up for the bad. I am already shopping for another phone, in a different network too (that would be another topic.)

  • Kudos to your comment! Well written and well said.

  • brilliant little phone, multi tasking, email works really well, and keeps getting better with every update, also there is a massive home-brew community already,to witch palm support and don't keep try blocking(i wonder who does that) have had no problems with this phone even though i have installed a variety of patches and home-brew app, and it will only get better the more palm work on it, and some people say the keyboard is to small dont worry it dont take long till your txtin fast again

  • i own apalm pre and it just sucks its processor is too slow and i ha an advice for the people that if you are lookin for a phone for browsing and messaging palm pre is waste

  • great one

  • I am a happy Pre user for 3 months. While iPhone cost $200-300 + $35 (mandatory data & message plans) @ month = $200 (or $300) + 35 x 24 (2 years plan) = at least $1040 + tax (on the $35.- x 24) the Pre cost me $125.- (after automatic rebates from Sprint plus $25.- I got from chatting with Sprint while ordering) almost $1000.- less (over 2 years)! And, the sprint unlimited everything is about $10.- LESS that the inferior ATT plan I had before. So for me it was a no brainer! The phone is a pleasure to use. Some kinks here and there were solved either through support or solutions I found on the internet. Removable Battery Huge advantage over iPhone! Batterys life much better since last update. The multi screens (you have many screens open at the same time phone, browser, game anything) is very unique and comes handy (you can talk over the phone, search Google maps and brows at the same time). The FREE GPS from Spring (though not perfect) saves you another $300.- for a separate GPS The Sprint service is as good as ATT if not better and if you do need/want to use your WiFi it wont drain your battery like the iPhone and others. All in all, looking for smart phone, I can see any second to the Pre with Sprint its chipper and overall as good as the iPhone (some Pre users say better for the multitasking and the WebOS compatibility with your PC). Pros: Removable Battery Huge advantage over iPhone! And it performs much better since the last update. Superb call quality and reception (Sprint network). Small, slick with amazing screen Fast network speed and browser. WebOS is fast, and highly intuitive - easy to use. Synergy/ multitasking. Real keyboard (though I hope an option to use a screen/virtual keyboard will be added soon). Integrated contacts, and messaging clients. Gmail Push. Loud and clear speaker. Excellent camera WiFi (that wont drain your battery unlike the iPhone and others). You can store and view (but not edit yet) Msft doc and Pdf iTune compatible (you have to connect to PC though). Cons: Lack of applications at time of launch (no big deal for me and more apps keep coming every day). no auto text correction (which could have become handy with the small keyboard). Things that dont bother me: Keyboard is a bit small and keys are stiff (if you are a texting junkie bad luck for you). No video camera (you CAN watch videos that you download). Camera has no zoom. To delete Pdf you have to connect to your PC (but the connection is a breather and has many advantages). Only 8Gb memory which I am yet to use 25% of it

  • Steer clear any one wanting an Iphone beater it is no where near battery life shocking hell its barely a Nokia 5030 beater, to get 11 hrs stand by with just 5mins max. of calls email retrieval, gps, bluetooth etc all have to be turned off I had mine for over 2 weeks and 11 hrs standby was the best I could get it was changed once and on with o2 tech guys 4 times to try and sort the problems to no avail. After all the hype I assumed (stupidly)to believe it, the only way the Pre can manage to do all that is advertised it needs to be connected to the mains all the features worked well enough but a phone that can't even manage a full day without needing to be re-charged is frankly not acceptable hence me returning it.

  • not yet

  • the palm pre is the most useless phone i have had in my life! i am a tech savvy... very hands-on on the latest technology, however, i had the phone for 2 weeks, and couldn't figure it out!. it's too slow, switches off, makes some silly noises, boring,.... it'll never ever compete with the iphone! i think o2 has got it wrong this time. the current promotion with free return flights to european destination will not help either!

  • should i get the palm pre or iphone 3gs

  • That's what they said about the iPhone, but look what happened.

  • The Palm Pre is high on price low on features (No FM radio for instance). It also switches off for now reason when closed. But I guess some people will buy it because it is a Palm. Maybe their next model will be the "Iphone killer" everybody is waiting for.

  • No Radio, No video recording, No video calls, No memory card slot, No Bluetooth file transfers, No onscreen keyboard and small and fiddly hardware QWERTY keyboard keys, 320 x 480 pixels 3.1 inches display. Who will and why buy this phone?

  • no the phone joke of the year is (and always has been) the iphone. where i am its $999 unlocked and look at how much its gna cost in china. that phone has no multitasking (even with jailbreak it cant match pre), no synergy, no flash for its camera, no flash for web content (it might hv a large app catalog but most of the good stuff is paid whereas there is a lot more free content on the web), pathetic dpi/ppi (pre has better dpi/ppi than iphone so its screen portrays images more crisp and vibrant, but there r much better displays than both of them to give u an idea nokia 7710 had more resolution on its 3.5" screen back in 2004 than iphone does now), little innovation (thats right not even 1/2 the stuff on iphone is original*), no user replaceable battery, terrible recpetion in US (due to being locked with at&t), no physical qwerty, and false advertising. *this is a list of specs that iphone has but were on other company's phone before it: - slide to unlock: neonode - flick finger to scroll thru menu(s): neonode - ambient light sensor for display brightness: palm - way iphone msgs: palm - connectivity: nokia - capacitive touchscreen: lg - accelerometer: htc (but used 4 scrolling not auto rotate) - touch focus (for taking pictures): htc - large internal storage compensating for lack of expandable memory: sony ericsson

  • Almost two weeks with my pre and keeps turning off almost everytime I close the slider. Gonna take it back today and get a new one. This is annoying, I mean, I'm very pleased with this phone, but I cant understand why Palm delivered these defective units... Greetings from Mexico!

  • Don't worry about the radio, there are few excellent apps for radio channels, as well as podcasts (Pandora, Radio Time, Shotcast etc.) That's the least of the Pre problems, trust me. Just go with iPhone, 10 times better and you'll find more apps. Definitely!

  • You have to re-colabarate the proximity sensors. Its some where in the settings.

  • Very expensive phone and it offers nothing.Small screen, bad camera, average conectivity and it costs 700$?Hahaha the phone-joke of the year.

  • Looks like a perfect phone to me. But the lack of radio makes me go far from it. About the OS I have my doubts if it will have an apropiate support from Palm and others developers.

  • you can apply an unofficial patch to get MSN on your pre (www.precentral.com for more info). You can also wait for an official app to come out in the app catalog.

  • Can you even do this??

  • How can I use msn messenger on my palm pre?

  • the phone is great but if u can put designs on it well maybe u can but im talkin about designs u would like. i especialy like it because you dont have to pay for internet u can just go wifi i mean not a lot of fones do that. personaly i think its like the I Touch just a bit better. people are right it does have a lot of bug but i KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THEM just email me at [email protected]. the only reason y im not tellin is because if i doto may people are going to say they came up with the idea because i found a 3 special apps that if u use em at the same time it reboots ur system and destoys all the bugs. and no you dont put the formula of pie in the calculator. just remember this god damn idea is mine so just email and i will tell u how to fix it personally and when i say that i mean i will be online with u and dont start trippin when u find out that im 12 because if u email me about how did i figure this out based on the fact of how old i am. im just going to tell u some bull crap on how to fix the palm pre

  • Yes, it is happening a lots, this is one of the reasons I sent back all 2 I ordered.

  • I hd been tried 2 of those and both with problems such slowy software, bad calling and reception calls, if you intend to use it as a pocketpc forget because it is very far away to be. I realy sorry Palm but you guys must need to think about to upgrade many things as I said nice look but bad in functions.

  • if not with o2 then who do you suggest? i want this phone but dont want the network to be bad lol

  • One thing I did notice though and I doubt I could get used to it was the severe lag in the media player as use my HERO for playing podcasts, the ability to link up all ur social networking is no longer new as the HERO did that ages ago but the automatic backup of ur contacts onto the GMAIL server if u use it is brilliant... I just wish the HERO browser was remotely good as Safari for example, please HTC, sort this out in ur next firmware update, Eclair, Donut, Popcorn, Cookie or whatever the hell u wanna call it :D

  • I work for CPW and we had an o2 rep come in and give us a quick demo of the device, overall I personally felt it was very good software wise ( being an HTC Hero user ) though the keyboard was a lil bit too fiddly for me and I dont have builder's hands. Some of the touch screen gestures were quite pleasant and useful, and the apps had some quirky little gimmicks such as compressing the calenders when u have appointments or when ur in mid-call and the entire phone doesnt switch to the phone function automatically but subtly indicates which is great in the bottom corner. OK the handset isn't a powerhouse like the HD2 or N900s but it isnt designed to be, its a simple handset with some unique features that many phone companies neglect to think people really use... Im personally torn between an HD2 ( though this pink screen fault has put me off ) and the N900 ( who the heck is gonna sell it on contract ) but the Pre would be a great phone for someone who wants Iphone ease of use but with a keyboard...

  • Has anyone had trouble with their palm pre screen going black during a call and only being able to end the call by removing the battery. This is the second phone I have had and 02 say it is not a common fault, but it seems to be too much of a coincidence. please let me know so I can choose another phone

  • Well, I gotta say Pre is a very very good-looking phone. Its OS is very finger-friendly! This one is my ultimate no.1 when it comes to a touchscreen phone with a (non-side) sliding QWERTY keyboard.

  • really poor phone in features and design

  • 1. to forward text: simply tap on the text and a drop down menu would appear. 2. social networking is not a problem. it has everything. this phone is the true AMAZING PHONE right now in the market. Try to experience it. you wont regret.

  • Have been waiting so long for this GSM Palm Pre to either Singapore or Malaysia. How come it takes so long time to reach here??? Latest technology will become outdated spec when it reach here... sad..

  • If you have a CDMA Pre then download the v1.3.1 update that was just released today and you'll be able to. If you have a GSM Pre then you will probably have to wait until the end of November.

  • is this available in the Philippines??

  • does anyone know how to forward txt messages on this phone

  • Can anyone tell me how many social network messenger palm supports ?

  • Ho hum, still waiting for a review from GSMArena. It's been out in Europe now for at least a month and not a word. Many have compared it favourably to the Iphone, but not a word. It's got a totally new operating system, but not a word. It's apparently selling quite well, certainly in larger numbers than some phones reviewed here, but not a word. It's not even that I'm definitely going to buy one, but I want to see what GSMarena think of it since their reviews are the most in-depth. Why won't you review this phone GSMArena?

  • I am one of the first Palm Pre pre pay pro plus platinum premium pay plan previewists.

  • I have this phone and I have o say I was sceptical. Never having owned a Palm before, it was a trip into the unknown for me. That said, this little gadget is amazing. Genuinely, as a strong supporter of SE normally, I took the plunge and came away from the Satio (I had a C905) and decided to trial the Pre. Camera for a 3.2 MP thing is great. Flash, zoom etc. All I need. MP3 player - superb! 8GB memory - all I need. Touchscreen -better than the iPhone (O2 shop versions are not so good) The sync ability to take all facebook, emails and contacts, find all info on them and drop em into one place is astounding. In summary, a very very good foil to the iphone - the Apps catalogue growing daily (and for the most part FREE too) Go try it out. Very simple to use - nothing fancy!

  • Those who review the Palm Pre have not owned the phone nor used it for an extensive period of time like me. This phone was an upgrade (Sprint) and my primary communication device. When I first purchased mine, I did like it a lot, the touch screen was very nice, the size of the phone fit in my pocket well, the sound quality was good on phone calls, screen resolution very nice as well. Now for the bad news. After using this phone exclusively for almost 3 weeks the phone simply shut off on its own. Yes it turned itself OFF. I would restart phone by pushing the appropriate button and then it took almost 5 minutes to turn on! When I tried to open the keyboard by sliding it open, many times it abruptly turned itself OFF again. Apparently (I showed this to the rep at Best Buys) when I slid the screen open to expose the keyboard and touched on one of the keys such as the space bar or period button simultaneously it would shut down! The phone would be idle for a while and when I tried to use it, it was completely shut off, not functional what soever! At this point it took at least 5 minutes to reboot or turn on again. This happened with a complete battery charge. What a major DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I am no alone, my daughters babysitter is on her SECOND Palm Pre which does the same annoying thing!! Sorry Palm but I went with the HTC. A much nicer solid (not plastic feel) but am presently experiencing problems with voice mail when it is downloaded on the phone, the software is freezing my phone. The HTC can store all messages into memory on the phone for playback like a tape recorder but has a BUG. I dial into my voice mail box until HTC or Sprint corrects this bug. When I initiated this voice mail feature, the phone prompted :looking for ugrade which I had no choice but to select OK then trouble began. It started to download and would not stop, even overnight. While on a recent trip, I tried to use the voice mail feature, but it froze up the phone. I had to do a phone reset to get it to work again but then lost all my contacts and downloads. After using both phones as my primary communication device (I am wireless at home), I will stick with the HTC. The Palm Pre has too many issues for me. Paul in Indy

  • Dunno, but whatever you do, don't hold your breath for a review from GSM Arena.

  • When does this phone come out in Australia?

  • you are really wrong about android. it is its own os, and has nothing to do with windows mobile. windows is slow and clunky, its UI is just horrible, and HTC and Samsung have really made that noticeable. Android is great, I have a g1 and it never lags, everything is fast and smooth, the response is better than my brothers iphone 3g. it is everything but windows with a different name. you're just a webos fanboy, and even tho I admit that webos destroys Android un terms of multitasking, I don't think many people will run so many flash games at once that it will make an android slow. also, when ure talking about the battery on droids being bad cuz of flash games ill remind u that the battery life of pre is even worse than iPhone. it has huge issues in the us version. and as far as apps are concerned, android has a huge advantage both nexus of the 15k apps it already has, and cuz it runs on so many more cones and cuz of that attracts devs more and will even outdo iPhone soon. android also has more of a reach than webos, there are budget devices for it like tatoo, and high ends like hero, galaxy or Motorola droid, and midrange like HTC magic, dream, Samsung spica, I think the future is with android, and webos will hag to do something amazing to catch up. just think, would u rather have Apple iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre, or HTC Hero?

  • its good ya

  • Same, i went in to get a blackberry as im sick of my windows phones - but ended up coming out of the shop with this, and im glad i have!! it has everything, a fluid interface, and all the capabilities my windows phone if not more! ive got to say, after over 4 years of windows mobile its definitely refreshing! and after playing with the iPhones and also showing some hardcore iPhone fans, this definitely comes out on top

  • I just bought this phone yesterday, and my friend is dying to exchange his iphone for palm pre...lol and stil apple people says iphone is better...

  • wtf r u talking about? with the jailbreak, the iphone gained the features that other phones had yrs before it such as video recording, copy and paste, custom themes... all these features were available on phones that were 3 yrs older than the 1st iphone. the only thing that separates the iphone from the other phones is that shiny apple sticker on the back of it.

  • and still no review from GSM Arena.....

  • Already has :D

  • One word people- jailbreak. This word changed the iPhone world and made the phone THE iPhone, no just another phone.

  • in wat way is iphone better?

  • in the way that it doesnt hv the latest cpu and graphics. the latest is: snapdragon processor which can run 2x as fast as iphone 3gs's processor. altho manufacturers opt not to go for the 1.3ghz or even possibly 1.5ghz dual core, but manufacturers so far hvnt gone beyond 1.0ghz, while iphone uses 600mhz. also its video recording capabilities suck, no multitasking, outdated camera, no flash, no flash support for web browser, limited msging capabilities (but in fairness that due to att), very average display resolution and dpi or ppi, a tft display wen amoled is far better, no user replaceable battery... and thats y the iphone is old tech

  • lol the iphone isn't old tech.the 3gs has the latest cpu and graphics. In what way is it old tech?

  • amazing that is why this is an android base os

  • it sucks iPhone is much better.

  • Before you buy any phone think long and hard. Do you want a phone that is old tech (iphone) and the only reason you buy it because your friends have one. Or do you want to be the first phone that will impress your friends and will than likely be the standard after people realize its functionality. When the palm pre was released, it was only meant for business persons. The main reason there were complaints because the phone was bought by people who did not need the pre's functionality and expected a iphone feel. Do not get me wrong. Iphone made the scene and they brought a lot to the table. Now, however, they have not progressed & they have locked out possible functionality because of greed. It reminds me when I was a pc guy (ever since I finished with the vic 20 and commodore 64) but then I changed to mac. Win 7 was the last windows operating system I used because it is just crap (even though more people use windows does not mean it is good - mac is definitely better now). I still use xp for some of my older programs. Just like the iphone was good then but now it just does not meet the standard (more like a teenagers phone now). If you are still using the iphone, then your just letting life pass you by. Once the palm pre gets the flash 10 working on the phone, then it will be more of a dual purpose professional/teenager phone. I can see teenagers playing flash games on the pre while also listening to music, looking at flash trailers of movies while there out with there friends to see what they will watch after a test/dinner, etc. I speculate that once flash hits the mobile pda/netbook/phone market, palm pre will surely be the winner. The droid will run flash just like the winmo phones -> very very slow if your multitasking flash. See example If they used the droid phone to show off flash the same way -> the film would have been laughable (droid does semi multitasking and definitely can not multitask resource hog programs like flash). Droid definitely would have either crashed or your system would start to look like it is in slow mo. If you have a winmo phone you probably know what I mean when i say slow mo. If you want a very good phone, then get a palm pre because in the near future I suspect everyone else will be using the pre if they can weather the misinformation about the phone. PS Do not look at megapixels when you are deciding on your phone pic. 3 vs 5 megapixels will not produce a difference. If you want great pictures then get an slr camera not a camera phone. And if you want great video get an hd camcorder instead of using your phone. Soon palm pre will be able to get vid recording for your youtube pages. Android is just winmo with a different name (hefty, slow and truly untested on its multitasking statement but we will see it fall flat when tested with flash this year). The only reason that iphone has been around is because it is a phone built around teenager habits with a little business function in it. If you look at webos, then you will see that it is a better match for netbooks. Once flash comes out the battery drain that it will produce on the google os will make it a weaker candidate for the netbook market versus webos. Also once flash comes out for the palm pre, we will see that palm will be able to take a good piece of the teenager iphone market with free flash games instead of paid for iphone apps. The future is here and webos is definitely the winner. Like i said android is just winmo with a different name. You guys need to test the true power comparison of the phone. i am no talking about processor power. Everybody knows that mac can startup, shutdown faster than the comparable pc with similar hdd, ram, vid card, processor. The os is the true decider of speed and functionality. Please test flash running in multiple applications (pre vs droid vs winmo). That will give you true insight. Flash dominates the media market and if the advertising market wants more viewer time then they need to push for more flash on phones. Especially the palm pre phone since it is the best suited phone for the demands of flash currently. But lets see what the test show. PS If you guys are truly at the tech forefront then you will see that this as a definite task that needs to be performed.

  • When is gsmarena going review this phone?.

  • !!!!BEWARE BEWARE BUGS !!!!! Hit mine big style it got to be sent away for repair now ITs lucky i kept my iphone 3gs i will stay away from this now soon as i get it back i will sell it

  • It's been available for around 3 weeks in Europe now and STILL NO REVIEW. This is one of the most heavily trailed and most interesting phones since the arrival of the first iphone and GSM Arena seems to want to ignore it. What's the issue with Palm phones, GSMArena? You do reviews on much smaller limited appeal brands such as Mobiado, so it can't be size. You seem to manage to provide full reviews on less exciting and ordinary phones within minutes of them being released, so availability would seem not to be a problem - let me guess....did they turn down your proposals for advertising on your site?

  • I can see that a lot us are not aware of this new WEBOS on the Palm Pre, I have to say though its a lot more responsive than an iPhone on apps as well as Internet. The best feature is the keypad that has been missing on most of the touch screen handsets. This handset has a nice feel to it and is very good with keeping all your contacts updated automaticaly, how good is that. I think there is some serious competition now for iPhone users or for people looking to upgrade to the iPhone. Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy this handset as much as i did.

  • when you can pick up two superior phones being the Nokia N900 or the HTC HD 2 for around 600 for 18 months unlimited txt and web plus 700 mins, why would anyone pay nearly 800 for this on O2 with the same package?

  • It's a WebOS Palm phone, what the hell has this got to do with WinMo 7?? Some people are clueless about phones and just make dumbFk3K comments.

  • Had a long hard play with one of these and while I have to admit it has its charms I still think my HTC Hero beats it in every department. I've seen nothing on the market so far that'd tempt me to change.

  • This phone kinda feels weird when holding it to type. The buttons are a bit small, but has a good feel to it. The touch screen is better than many phones already.

  • Looks a nice phone but i think it's not going to out sell the iPhone...

  • A huge dissapointment. 1) the keyboard is far too small, 2) half of the applications require windows mbile 7 which is not available yet, 3) you can only access about 5 websites. Rubbish

  • yea u can con vert from a software called videora

  • idk if it supports avi but if u need converting, any video converter will do a gr8 job of it. u can choose several inputs and outputs, several sizes, no marks on the converted file, even download from utube and other sites, and its free.

  • I allready have one from O2 germany . A great great device .

  • palm pre video review

  • can anyone tell me if the phone will play avi. files?? or if it comes with converting software?????? or silly question?

  • now that the pre is on sale in uk. i finally got chance to play with one in an o2 store. i can see where the comparisons to iphone are and thefact that just like the iphone, they are holing back on the features such as voice dialling , video recording. So i will wait until the next firmware release and see what happens. As for you GSM Arena, when are you going to do a full review of the Pre. As someone else wrote, there seems to be a bit of a bias towards reviewing Palm phones. Apart from that, love the website, witty and informative.

  • Its on show in 02 stores in the UK. Its a good looking phone but the lack of any ability to record video is a big let down. I was considering getting the Pre as my contract is up for renewal . . but no way now . . Think I'll wait for the offers from Orange on the Iphone 3GS (",)

  • crap

  • when you can pick up two superior phones being the Nokia N900 or the HTC HD 2 for around 600 for 18 months unlimited txt and web plus 700 mins, why would anyone pay nearly 800 for this on O2 with the same package?

  • i anyone can email me at [email protected] i wanted to buy this phone? is it worth buy? please help

  • it's too expensive, considering it specs are bit outdated. new phones are way ahead of it. webOs is cool but not worth nearly 500 euro

  • hey guys ...is bluetooth file transfers legit on the pre?

  • Why such the high price ! what does this device offer that others dont and why the suden lack of file transfer via bluetooth ?

  • lol @ o2 pricing lol @ no review here yet. Common trend? Fail

  • was in o2 shop today. loved the pre

  • i went to the city today and had a demo on the palm pre it is amazing little device the only problem is it is a bit small compare to the satio and i phone. but it looks amazing the pictures on line to do not give it justice you can use 4 applications without it crashing i dont know if this is a iphone killer buti think if everyone buys one they wil not be disapoinmented

  • I just went to the O2 shop and was amazed by the Fisher Price toy feel of the Pre ... Didn't feel solid enough for me to bother looking at it further.

  • Yes, but unlike you Mo, I haven't condemned this phone before I've even seen it in person.

  • It seems will have MicroSD expansion lot. Matuk (the mexican engadget) have one and posted 2 videos in YouTube.

  • An expensive palm pixi. Lol palm don't make crap!

  • 2/10

  • Why do people like this expensive piece of crap? It barely has features and looks hideous! 2?10 rating from me.

  • I see you giving your 2 cents comments over here too. Funny both palm phones.

  • Unlike most of you people who just seem to complain, this phone is absolutely amazing, the way it organizes info is completely astounding, and the UI is cutting edge, i've had no problems whatsoever with this phone, and if palm builds on WEBOS software, it will really be a heavy contender for the iphone (which I already think it is. The multi-tasking capabilities of this phone is beyond any I have seen, and I can tell you, I've been through a LOT of phones. On the down side, i think the batter life could be a bit better, I don't know, but maybe it's just how i use it, I'll listen to maybe 1 1/2 hours of music and then take a call for like 30 mins, and I'll need to charge..lol, maybe i'm just expecting too much. all in all..GOOD JOB PALM

  • GSMarena, stop deleting my request for a review! srsly, it's not spam. Review x100!

  • ...and you probably don't want to try using your fingers to type

  • i dont own a Pre, but i do own a Centro, which virtually has the same type of keypad; i've also owned an E71. 1 week of use is all it takes to get used to it, definitely usable

  • has anyone actually used the palm pre yet who is making comments? The key pad is so small to be virtually unuseable! Seriously i have small fingers and was completley unable to use it.

  • I've now been able to read fairly in depth reviews of the Palm Pre in most of the London newspapers and a fair few of the national ones have reviewed it as well as have many of the major review sites. But GSM Arena? Nope. Not yet. Nada. Nothing, zip, zilch, a long empty silence. Please tell me you are going to review this one and not allow foolish snobbery to win the day. By all the other accounts it's a pretty good phone, and deserving of comment - so why the delay? A delightfully ironic comment on how long Palm took to release a GSM version perhaps? Or is it that you just don't like Palm for some reason?

  • If I don't appreciate the OS of Palm I would not post here, even If was a little bit rude. All PSs are true, the first is not, at least for me. Perhaps it is not the time for Apple to make iTunes open for all devices, they know which financial situation they have to follow better than us. However, what Palm is doing on iTunes is not legal, and I do respect Palm more if they have their own software or if they are synch with iTunes legally. As for the device, yes I should give it a try, knowing that I prefer a touch device. I tried many, I don't trust trying anymore after I found myself happy with iPhone. Some people my friend can't be brain washed.

  • Hey GSM Arena, WAKE UP!! Cnet have got a UK palm pre review out - where's yours? Oh I forgot, you don't review Palm Phones....

  • and Apple are dumb to keep blocking it. This phone is going to sell maybe a million units perhaps? That's a potential million extra users for Itunes for Apple. Let's face it, a good proportion of those people will already have an Ipod, maybe one quarter, but that's still a fair bunch of people and potential revenue that they are shutting out. The Itunes platform is great but Apple could make it greater by opening it to other users, instead of behaving like small minded geeks and trying to corner the market in eveything. PS. And by the way, whilst your spirited defence of Apple is touching, unless your name is really Steve Jobs, you didn't actually invent the Iphone, you're just one of the millions of so-called 'individuals' who display their 'individuality' by trying to bask in it's reflected glory whilst not realising that you have been brainwashed. PPS No I don't use an Iphone. I tried, but I prefer buttons. Maybe that makes me a geek, but I bet I can type faster than you on my phone. PPPS Actually I quite liked the Iphone, it's just the 'holier than thou' attitude of most of the users that winds me up. Maybe I'll try the Palm out, maybe I won't. But I'll wait to see it myself before passing judgement on it.

  • whats the point in re-inventing the wheel? It's already agreed that the iTunes platform is phenominal, so why if you're in Palm's shoes should you go all out to invest in a new syncronising application? it make no financial sense! i really like this phone and whilst its no "iPhone Killer" it is certainly a good little piece of geek chic with some functionality the iPhone should have had years ago (which is lamentable!) running multiple apps at once for example. You have to give this a chance before slamming it....

  • To GSM Arena, it's now the 7th of October and the GSM version of this phone is due to be released in less than 10 days, so when is your review coming out? If they are releasing in 10 days, there must be GSM test samples out there - have you got one? If not why not? I challenge you, for once, to do a full and proper review of a Palm phone. Looking at your previous records, I note that you have never reviewed a Palm phone before, despite them being generally well-received and popular with their users. There seems to be a lot of bias in the phone community against Palm for some reason - please don't join the small minded snobs who think that Palm aren't worth their while and review this phone fairly and impartially. Yours etc, frustated ex-Palm user

  • I actually own this phone unlike the majority of reviewers and this phone is one of the best ever. I have owned several iphones , nokia e71, tmobile G1, blackjacks, blackberries, you name it. The hadware on this phone is not the greatest , but the OS blows EVERYTHING else out of the water. You have to use it to understand.

  • Crap. Palm why don't you make your own sync software instead of pretending that Pre is made by apple on iTunes?

  • i agree. the best things about palm phones are the threaded messaging and hardware silent switch. qwerty's no longer unique, but Palm needn't go all out to standout. imho, focusing on organizer functionality that Palm was *born* for would keep it unique, even without trying to match-up the iphone..but at this point it's just wishful thinking. I think pushing the webOS too hard in the market will burn up Palm's resources

  • I played around with a pre today...and it's really an awesome phone. I have an e71 and thought that was great...but after using the pre for a while and especially seeing how brilliant the screen looked, and having no trouble with the keypad, and working with the UI, it's just an all around amazing phone. Sure it's not PERFECT in terms of hardware, but the camera works well on it, and the browser is wonderful too. Seriously, don't rule this out just because it doesn't have a 5mp camera.

  • No Video recording????

  • It has gps if you were to read the information. I second the need for a REVIEW!

  • People complain about the lack of MicroSD card slot... but i could not see any network carrying this phone if it had one. As the wireless backup would be backing up even more data, and kill network performance.

  • no gps???????????????????

  • Hey geniuses, the reason why this is on GSMArena and has GSM specs is because it is coming to Europe as a GSM model very soon.

  • on the photos what is that stand thing for is it a holder or a charger or both safe

  • Hi Can any boby help I'am thinking of purchasing the Pre when it is released in the UK next month. Is it on line like the HTC Hero connect all the time or is it like HTC Touch Pro 2 connect when you go line to check your e-mails,connect to the internet, etc. Thanks Bert

  • Don't be... apparently you are not the only one who thinks this phone was overhypped! Sales of the pre continue to drop as we speak!

  • HVGA bah useless

  • no video recording, no card slot, no video call camera, no radio, below standard camera.. So what're all those hyped about? I'm confused.

  • I had a few Palms over the years (among a few Nokias and Saumsungs) and have always thought that they were uteerly brilliant phones and way ahead of anything else on the market. Sure they weren't as pretty, but I could do e-mail, listen to music, watch videos, do excel and word, look at the internet and all that stuff way before pretty much anything else on the market. Threaded messaging? Genius. Hardware silent switch? Brilliant. I've been using other phones for a couple of years now, but none of them really came close to the 650 so I was stoked to see this new model and was desperate to get my hands on one. So I waited. And then I waited some more. I read the reviews in the US, and waited even more. But now I am ashamed to say that I have cracked. I simply couldn't wait any longer and tempted by a crazily low priced offer from another supplier I went with a Samsung 8910. Maybe next year, Palm.

  • I used to own a Palm and liked it... Tungsten T5. But those days are over... they slept on the job too long. Pre? Naaaah... Nokia E72 all the way!

  • as a rule Palm is great, but for everyone who builds smartphones what @!#... any smartphone includes an FM receiver, 24/7 working or what?

  • This phone would be gorgeous if it didn't have that hideous cheap, plastic looking thing palm tried to call a keyboard...

  • In Brazil FM radio is very used, I guess they were targeting other audience then US/Europe only.

  • 2g and 3g is for the gsm version. not the north america version, so they are correct

  • Umayos kayo!!!

  • I love Palm, it's in me but I got really pissed when they tried to imitate iphones by removing the expansion card slot .. palm was always the leader in the american markets, they were the first to invent something called the Home button .. shame on you palm .. when's the gsm on sale in markets ??? europe ?

  • You know, they named the domain gsmarena.com for a reason... You won't be seeing any information about the CDMA version of that or any other phone in here.

  • It's 8 gig you know... that's doesnt enough for you

  • Please correct 2G and 3G deleting current inputs and reflecting in 3G: CDMA EV-DO Rev A

  • why would you even want an fm radio ???

  • NO SDCARD????? WTF PALM, i wanted this phone, i really wanted this, but you had to screw it up didn't you, i hate you and your stupid webos too -_-

  • GSM Arena are probably waiting for a GSM version of the phone that works in Europe so that they can actually do a review.

  • Don't hold your breath for a review, GSM Arena have never yet reviewed a Palm phone fully and despite the fact that the Pre has not actually been released over here, GSM Arena said today 'Palm and their WebOS-driven Pre never really took off on our side of the Big Pond' which is inaccurate and misleading at best.

  • When will we see a review on Gsmarena?

  • I've been using the PRE for a little over a week now. I picked it up when released in Canada. I love the phone. Battery life was as bad as they said, thats for sure. First thing I did was order a 1350mahr battery and thing external snapon case from Seidio. Only thing left to do is pick up a screen protector. With the new battery and light usage of the phone I get a day's worth of use out of it. Mostly checking emails as they come in and texting a little bit, with maybe 30 mins of Gtalk on top of that. Might web browse for 20-30 mins and a few minutes of phone calls. Very light use, IMHO. Taking the phone off the touchstone at 7am and its still good to go by 8pm. I might drop it back on the TS over supper, if I know I'm going out. The TS works fantastic with the Seidio case I chose, so thats all good too. Overall, my biggest complaints aren't complaints but just a wish list. A little more speed with the calendar, ability to do video, more apps that apply to Canada, etc. I fully expect a lot of this to start coming down the Palm pipe when OS v1.2 hits around the end of Sept(or sooner). There are almost 200 homebrew apps you can sideload and a lot will transition over into the official app store when v1.2 is out and supports visa transactions. Woohoo. :) Overall, I figure that by the time the Pre hist v1.5 of its software early next year, we should see it having caught up to most of the features the 3rd gen iPhone has.

  • Hi there. I personally think that a phone that will do everything is hard to come by. It is more important to determine what your personal needs are, then get the phone that meet your specific needs. I use iphone 3gs n im typing from it. My decision to get iphone was based on 3 needs. Multiple language support, very smooth interface, and good web browser. Initially didnt want to get iphone, but it came out on top for my needs. But apples iphone is very limited to apple itself and is not very compatible with other devices or pc,like samsung or nokia. I can see how Palm Pre could also be an excellent phone with all the multi tasking. If your into computers n stuff i dnt recommand iphone, it is definatrly not for everyone. I know, cuz it took me a while to accept iphones limitations. I your just after a phone full of gadgets id stick with Omnia or even LG Viewty. As there Arent many things those phones cant do... Iphone just does fewer, but better at it, n if those few things are not your priority, iphone becomes obsolite... Hope this helps

  • it's has very nice features but it still wont beat the iPhone

  • This phone is utterly useless. To much hype for nothing, tested for a month and could not get used to anything on it.

  • Will the GSM version of this phone ever be released? I have been patiently waiting for this phone in the Mid East and I don't think i can wait any longer. Palm What's going on? Lets go!!

  • liar liar

  • Ref 'O2staff' post You know, I thought your post a little weird, surely this ridiculous delay with the Pre over here can't really be a conspiracy can it? Then I looked at the O2 website and noted just how much of it is geared towards the Iphone. It's so dedicated to the cult of the Iphone that if you want to send them an e-mail about anything at all, even to ask what time it is, you have to answer the question 'Do you have an Iphone?' With that type of investment in it, I guess it would cost them a lot to change their entire company focus, so maybe you are right after all. What are the odds that the Pre is mysteriously delayed until after Christmas to allow O2 to squeeze every last drop out of the Iphone....

  • You're the first and only one yet with this kind of a problem. Pretty unique situation, almost feels like a lie...

  • The only thing i wanted was video which it is getting, by that internet and operation has been fairly well.

  • o2 haven taken it as they have to share the iphone 3g with orange. even tho they have the 3gs exclusively they still want the top end mobiles exclusively

  • O2 in the UK are so worried that this is going to outshine the iphone, that they have signed exclusive rights to it so no other network will get it in the UK.... If they are worried, then it must be good ?

  • its out everywhere but the only thing i dont like about it is that it has no sim card slot and its only for sprint

  • this phone is already out in Canada

  • LIAR

  • I'm in the States, & have had my Pre for about 2 weeks now. The App catalog is almost non-existent, & what is there is pretty buggy. My main issue, though, is that it frequently can't find my network when I'm in the middle of an urban area. My friends on the same network will have 3 or 4 signal-strength bars, & my Pre thinks it has to be on Roaming. The only fix I've found is to do a re-boot, which on this phone takes forever! I do like the phone very much, but it definitely has some issues. Probably what I deserve for getting a 1st-generation product!

  • Can Radio be enabled on the Pre?

  • Two major turndowns. No video and no expansion. Hope they solve those issues. And so much for a wait is cooling down expectation.

  • check out www.palmpreappreview.net :)

  • You got to be kidding me!!?? Im the first guy to post a comment here? Either no one is interested in this device or no one can dare write a comment on this terrific device.

  • hi there i wouldnt go for the iphone, that for sure... palm pre looks pretty cool... have a look at the HTC Hero... cool also.. not sure about the samsung omnia... i prefer Pre or Hero :P good luck!

  • Hi all, want a phone that does all...am thinking of the Iphone 3GS,,,but then read about this one and saw videos of the cool OS this has...also read on OMNIA which looks pretty decent...and got myself condused in the process :)...anyone..pl tell me which one to go for the main spec required being a smart touchscreen phone...thanks a bunch

  • The WebOS work in Treo Pro? It's possible?

  • I am a Palm fan as I have been using Palm PDAs since the times when notebooks / laptops were beyond the reach of most enthusiasts. When info about Pre came on the Net I felt here was a phone worth owning. Though I swear by Nokia E series, Id prefer the Pre to be my first switchover. However, people at Palm seem less curious about Asia / India a big mistake perhaps. You have to enter this market if you want t make a mark worldwide. Palm has an impeccable product in Pre. Just market it right.

  • JVB is a leading and professional screen protector manufactory in ShenZhen China. We are specialize in developing and manufacturing screen protector for iPod,iPhone,PSP, NDS game consoles, PDA, Mobile phone and all the Digital products...

  • Multimedia wise Omnia HD is still the king. Business wise the premium model E72 says hi.

  • l like it.. hoho...

  • I agree with you Ewan... Asia is one of the best market for mobile companies in terms of mobile sales. Ask Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Any mobile company that pi$$es off Asian buyers is doomed. Palm must bring out the GSM version to Asia within this year or else we will buy iPhone or other brands. Dont make us wait palm....

  • What are the similarities between Palm and Sony Ericsson? ... They both keep on delaying their phones!!! They love seeing their fans wait... :( Very very bad strategy, they are loosing their customers to other brands like Applie, HTC and Samsung. I really refused to get iPhone because functionality wise Palm Pre is much better, but becuase I cannot wait anymore, I decided to get HTC Magic. Soon, HTC Hero is coming out, Palm Pre will be forgotten. BTW, I am in Singapore.

  • no memory slot? no slot?? no sloooooooooooot!!!!!

  • the world over people are waiting for the perfect reply to apple i phone.looking at the specs and that earlier palm models were a source of great satisfaction i see the pre as the perfect answer to the iphone.i request palm to price it reasonably and step up the production&marketing efforts for the pre to reach as mnay users worldwide particularly in countries like india where 10milllion phones are being added every month. wishing all the very best. ramesh bhojwani, mumbai, india. my mobile no is 9820696124.

  • this phone is wicked though i wish it had something like 32gb internal memory and a 12mp camera with flash and video

  • Not is GSM, but CDMA. This fone Palm shot in ass.

  • Excellent review, based in your comments i dont buy this Phone. But what phone do you choice now? tks

  • another thing. I see a lot of people complaining about screen size. The bigger the screen size the bigger the device. This thing works close to perfect with the screen it has and can fit anywhere. 99.9 percent of the time i don't feel i am carrying this device in my jeans pocket. I am on sprint now and can;t wait for the GSM version to come out. You guys will love it...

  • guys this phone has soooo much potential it is crazy. My n95 8gb got stolen so i decided to give this phone a try just because sprint did not anything else. I thought it was going to suck. Boy, it only does not suck but is unbelievable. After a few updated and more apps in their store it will be better then the Iphone. And did i say i already forgot all about my n95, in a way glad i lost it.

  • I had a Palm 600 and a 650 a long time ago and loved them, awesome phones. Moved on a while back to various HTC and Samsungs among others but was interested in trying the Pre. Has anyone out there actually got first hand experience of it yet rather than just recycling already posted opinions? Another question, along with many other sites, GSM Arena lists Palm phones but has never reviewed them fully in the same way as they do with other phones. Why is this? Are Palm phones particularly despised by those in the know or do they just not spend as much on advertising?

  • hey i c the features but is this phone java enabled? and whats the battery stand by time?

  • I got a Palm Pre and kept it for a little over a week and returned it. In general the phone is great. But, I'm a traditional Palm OS user. I've been through the i330, i500 and now the Treo 700p. There is a downloadable, PURCHASABLE ($30 I think) app called "Classic" to allow you to run classic Palm apps .... until the developers make a webOS version. The demo to test Classic is only 7 days. Plus, why didn't Palm just include that for free?? Ok. So here is my list of annoyances that caused me to return the phone. Almost none of them are deal-killers. But put them all together then add the fact that I will end up paying $200 and have to commit to 2 more years with Sprint, it just wasn't worth it for me at this time. 1. The sync options are ridiculous. - Google sync - Facebook sync (WHAT?) - Microsoft Exchange ----------That is IT. The only way to sync to your PC is via a purchased version of the Outlook sync and I'm not a Windows PC user. So my Palm sync tools in Linux will not work. 2. Palm backup - nice idea. You can have all your data backed up and wipe the phone remotely. But, why did they not make a way to get information out of the Palm backup website? 3. My Treo 700p has an awesome calculator. The Palm Pre has a basic math calculator 4. Bluetooth will ONLY sync with speakers (presumably a headset or stereo speakers). No option to link to PC that way. You have to use the USB cable to copy music too/from the phone. 5. You cannot specify general ring tones for phonebook/non-phoneboook entries. Again, in the 700p, I can have one ring tone that is for anyone NOT in my phonebook. In the Pre, you have to assign ring tones to each contact to have any modification from the main ONE ring tone. 6. You cannot ignore a call when the phone is locked. If it's unlocked there is an option to answer or ignore. But when it's locked, all you can do is slide up the unlock button and answer the call or turn off the ring by pressing the on/off button at the top right corner. The guy at Sprint asked what difference it makes. Well, if you're about to do something with the phone and all of a sudden it rings before you get it unlocked, you have to wait for it to go to voice mail before you can unlock unless you just want to answer it. 7. I'm not crazy about the slide open case or the way the keyboard is recessed after it's opened. I would prefer to have a longer phone that has the keyboard at the bottom all the time without needing to slide it open. I think the slide will eventually get sloppy. It seemed to a little in the week I had it. 8. There are hardly any options on most apps. If you don't like the default overall font and how it looks in an app, too bad. If you want to chance anything about the look and feel of a specific app, most of the time, you cannot. 9. There is NO way to export calendar and contacts. With my 700p I can export either to vcards as an attachment to email if I want to move them somewhere. Since they only give you a way in the Pre to sync with Google, Facebook or Exchange (which I do NOT have and do NOT want), you have no way to get your information out of the phone. You are forced to create a Google or Facebook account to have any data exchange without an MS Exchange server. Another option might be to include at least SyncML capability so it could sync to any SyncML server. Maybe a 3rd party app will come from Funabol soon. 10. I wasn't impressed with the speed. The card idea and sliding from app to app, closing apps, etc. was all very easy to use and enjoyable. But I expected it to really fly. Sometimes it would pause a bit and once I thought it was totally hung. 11. I have an IMAP email server with a self-signed certificate. I managed to get my email to work with SSL. But I had to find someone else's idea of how to get the SSL cert to work. Sprint was no help. And there is really not any help about that with the phone or from Palm that I found. What I had to do was get my SSL cert file and attach it to an email (using my PC) so I could click it from the email app in the phone. Once I did that, it prompted me to accept the cert and then I could use SSL in my email with my self-signed certificate. Supposedly you can get to the Cert app and add it that way. I just had not figured out how to do that. Maybe with more time and more tries I could. But the other way worked, once I found the idea from someone else. 11. Email is pretty nice. But there is no way to deal with multiple messages from what I found. If you want to move, delete more than one message, you must open the message, then do the deed. The exception is if you want to delete. You can slide messages to the right and they go to the Trash. That's nice but there is no place that tells you what the different slide operations are from what I saw. You have to find out trial/error. ....................... To be fair: Someone that does not have some of my specific needs will find this phone to be quite enjoyable I suspect. It's a beautiful screen and most of the functionality it DOES have works well.

  • i do apologize "the" and "phone"

  • am i the only on that has come to tho conclusion that this phones, regardless of all it's tech stuff feels cheaply made with it's plastic sharp edges

  • I played with the CDMA version today for about 4 hours. I cannot stand Palm devices but I must say that I was blown away. It is an excellent device. There are pros and cons...but a lot more pros. Its very responsive and I would switch from my current PDA as soon as possible

  • It will be the phone which we set a mark. I am waiting for it to happen... I have been a Plam user since years but this phone is something which I can't resist.

  • I heard that this is going to be the iphone killer. Saw the video to this and its an iphone and blackberry united into one. You can also zoom into a picture by using your 2 fingers like the iphone. Might be palm is copying apple and blackberry. Who knows.

  • Calm down. It's only a phone, which you will either end up losing or it will ultimately fail on you.

  • you'll have to wait until the end of the year

  • Hi bobby I do agree with you I feel the same dam way .

  • This looks looooooverly. Was going to go for LG Arena but now think I will wait & get one, as I've already got a Palm Treo 650 at present, & had Palm 600 before! Can't wait.

  • Enough with 'comming soom' staf, can we have it now. what the fish, every time cool phone is on the market i have to wait forever.

  • nice.. web OS is the best! u can leave everything behind and just carry your pre.. u can never go wrong with this phone...

  • Yeah, it doesnt exist.

  • how do you know this? i know its on 02 but official there hasnt been word on the uk release date yet

  • Any news about the GSM unlocked Pre?

  • wow this phone it looks so natural if you hold it in your hand and look at how small it is when closed for me this phone will do everything at least that is for me any body else that doesn't might want something to do more work anyway i am really considering if to buy this phone i am in awwwwww wow

  • I dont knw anything bout this phone. Whats the price like in malaysia?

  • I found a nice video on the Palm Pre.

  • so if you haven't done any research on it whatsoever and are just "voicing your opinion" based on what other people have said, why on earth would you bother posting your comment?

  • why is everyone excited about this phone. everyone is talking about it. i mean it has pretty nice specs and all but, there are alot of other phones in this range that are much better. and i don't know much about it's OS, but at this stage with only around 10 phones, i doubt the WEBOS is mature... the qwerty looks too small, would of benefitted if it was on the side. all in all, great phone but imo doesnt deserve all this hype. please prove me wrong as im just voicing out the opionions in my head without doing any research at all.

  • sprint iz the best, got six monthes free because of there error...400 dollars a year less than verizon 500 dollars a year less than at&t which most people consider to be the worst"killing the iphone" just go on cnet and check out the coverage of there 3g just under verizons coverage ..but definitely the fastest and most reliable.if you had a bad experence i understand but thats no reason to badmouth a great company that cares about their customers..

  • i can't believe they gave this great phone to sprint!!

  • One last suggestion to add for the upcoming features that I can't believe I forgot: Pocket Office (or equivalent for viewing/editing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. docs).

  • I understand that when a company releases a new phone, it is NOT business smart to put EVERY feature possible in the first release. Just like Apple did with the iPhone (the first gen was not 3G, had no video recording, MMS not supported, etc.), Palm is using the Pre as a "feel it out" phone, even though it already is a beast of a phone and the operating system is "perfect." However, my advice to Palm is this: you know what the condition of your company is, and how competetive this market is, so please make the next release (Palm Pre2, Palm Post) have EVERYTHING you can possibly put in it. Here are a few examples of what is preventing this phone from being the perfect device: Larger screen (w/ higher resolution); at least 3.5 in; Horizontal QWERTY instead of vertical (if any); Hot-swap card slot (in exchange for large internal memory, if need be); 5MP Camera (at least) with 30 fps video (at least); Secondary front camera (for video conference, etc.); RDS FM Radio; Multi-touch input (w/ handwriting recognition); A (MUCH) better battery. A few of these suggestions could be considered opinion, but I'm sure over 90% of others agree with over 90% of these (hopeful) additions. All in all, I'm glad Palm's back in the game with such an incredible device, and hope the next release will finally show the Apple boys (who are on there 3.0 OS release and 3rd device and STILL haven't gotten it right) how it's done.

  • wtf r u talkin about? a physical keyboard is always better than an onscreen 1 (which can be added with an update) and altho its screen isnt as big as iphones, it has far greater dpi meaning the stuff u view on it is clearer. and 5mp is just size not quality.

  • bcos gsm arena only does gsm phones and the gsm version (this 1) of palm pre hasnt been released yet.

  • You can find the review here. Great device.

  • review the web os please .... compare it with the android ...

  • GSMA! why is this still in the "coming soon" catagory??

  • can this phone pull the numbers from your phonebook on facebook and add them to your contacts?

  • i have seen this one in action i realy think this baby will surprise u all specially apple .This is the new bad boy in town !!

  • Oh god, who the hell cares about the mobile camera. Srsly, get a real camera in case you're going to take pictures.

  • Nice phone but screen would be beter with at least 3.2 inch & would not buy one until it removes the physical keyboard, lets home Palm release a 3.2 /3.5 inch keyboard less with 5 megapixel later in the year??

  • Found a nice video on how powerful the Palm Pre is.

  • I think this is the best Palm Phone. It's amazing. And I'd love toget It. But 3.2 Mega pixels is not enough...

  • im so so dissapointed that it does not have office editor. how could palm ignore this basic feature.why is the focus only on multimedia stuff and all.very very dissapointed.

  • where's the review for this phone?

  • i found the phone software vary hard to use and it lock up two times why i was using it.

  • GSMarena not PHONEarena or CDMAarena When the GSM version is released i'd say it's pretty guaranteed.

  • Windows Mobile is horrible. WebOS is far better and sleeker. All that Palm needs to do is get an app store going.

  • Ever had the experience of buying a brand new expensive phone... and your friends with low-end phones laughed at you saying,"What man, your phone doesn't have an FM radio??"

  • BTW, will this phone be reviewed at all?

  • Looks like you'd like the N97.

  • This phone is much better than the iphone. It's operating system is amazing (iphone's lack of multi-tasking feels old and out-dated) and the accelerometer moves in all sorts of directions, plus, I love a hardware keypad. It's overall an amazing phone.

  • The keypad of the phone isn't as bad as everyone is making it sound. If you've used the iphone's before the 3.0 update then this is a godsend. It's actually better than the Nokia E-71's keypad (which I've been using for a while) and would love to get this phone. I just can't wait until the GSM version of this phone comes out so that I can use it on my carrier. 8 gigs of limited storage is kind of annoying, but, not that big of a deal.

  • as from many reviews it has been confirmed that pre doesn't have an editor but just a viewer!

  • can any plz update me can i used skype on this.

  • The Pre keyboard is actually smaller than the Centro

  • Not extended card slot!!! not a big enough screen!!! not windows mobile avaliable!! Whata small keyboard is it??? an there is more...., well this device was made just to shot up some mouths, but no one???

  • is the Palm Pre's keypad as small sa the Palm centro?

  • Hmmm... Hopefully they'll have this sorted by the time of the European release.

  • You take too long time Palm. You'll missed the party....don't you realized.

  • this model with these features will wake up palm sales after long sleep

  • Why does it say Coming soon? It's almost July and it has been available for quite a while now

  • im using treo650 since 2004.its the best phone.i havnt upgraded because ive not found any troble since last 5 years. only drawback is the weight and that would be the only reason i would switch to a newer verson. i just wanna confirm that Pre does have office application with editor.thats all . if somebody could confirm i'd be grateful. thank you

  • im sure if anyone has the pre that they know by now that it can be synced with itunes therefore giving u the full user ability as the iphone for those of u chasing it. if u r thinking of getting the pre this may persuade u too. i have the pre, HD, and waiting for my new iphone 3gs to arrive so im not a fanboy of any just love phones and technology.

  • isnt it cool that the palm pre can sync with itunes so if u dont have an iphone just an ipod u now have the iphone with the pres ability to sync ur music from itunes. thumbs up pre team previously at apple

  • It has a 3.5 music jack and all but how come they have left out FM stereo.

  • The eyecandy design of the OS is quite nice, but IPhone is still the best in that area, I love the keypad, but i hoped that they slide the keypad a bit as it is a terrible idea jamming your fingers on the top keys of the keyboard (even small fingers will have difficulty of pressing those). Thetering would be a nice idea, though we rarely use it. I rather take the sim and transfer it to USB 3g Dongle. Thetering is bad for batteries. (I do that with my Omnia)

  • Palm and Apple make their phones too limited and locked... just compare with N97 or Omnia HD!

  • Why is this phone being touted as the next iPhone rival? Is it even a music phone? What about the Tosh TG01? Now there's a foneputer

  • Yeah, it's missing a few features that would be nice, but I have to say... Synergy > ALL!!!! This is my favorite phone I have ever owned. Very sleek, syncs with everything. Wow. I am completely over my iPhone envy now that I have a Pre

  • i dont see any diference betwen this phone and new iphone. iphone has biger and better display and there are lot of applications and i forgot that the neq iphone has video recording nat 30 fps which its not bad

  • "Over priced" lol how much is it then...lol

  • Typical operators spoiling the device again,,if their not letting you get hold of firmware updates the messing with operating software when putting all there jargon on it ie logos,,own wallpapers,,disabling this feature ,,messing with that feature..How are devices supposed to reach their full potential and what they are designed for when operators ruin the lot..That goes for all makes of fone and all i.p. providers...Boo

  • Actually, I heard it's more of a competitor with the Blackberry than the Iphone...

  • Yep, small screen, low resolution and not the best keyboard when I demoed a unit...that is when the eager 'presenter' let me hold it for the authorised 20seconds lest show-goers should not be wowed or find something that doesn't work with a free-demo. The Palm people were very intrusive and would not let anyone discover the device. The multi-tasking is ok, as is the underlying architecture....but this has been overhyped more than the iphone or android G1. Ultimately it's a phone with some PDA abilities, not a PDAphone.

  • Samsung's coming out with great new phones I like the Omnia HD.

  • You probably can't even record a phone conversation with this overpriced device, or use it as an answering machine. Such simple functionality seems to have been left out intentionally so you can pay for an overpriced voicemail service.

  • no video??? Sorry Palm, try again.

  • no sd slot.

  • phone does not have a microsd and for now the palm store is very limited. all applications say "try me" indicating that there are no free applications. But thats Sprint for you.

  • I looked at this phone as I was a keen Palm user in the late 90's/early 2000's. Love the webOS interface, but apparently according to Engadget Palm it has'nt got Internet/data tethering and Palm is - quote "forbidding the Pre Dev Wiki from posting any information about data tethering during the Sprint exclusivity period". Well - I need my phone to be my mobile connection as weel. This takes this phone of my possible upgrade ocntender list.

  • Nice phone good desing love the Linux OS of this phone..cool keys size is also cool..but will not buy because no radio and no video recording...sometimes even a busy man wants to relax and have some fun...

  • it has 8GB internal memory, so i think you don't need a card slot

  • it has 8GB internal memory, so i think you don't need a card slot

  • You're right, you can' use data when answer a call, only if you access internet by Wi-fi

  • You're right!!! The iPhone 3gs killer is the great Nokia N97!!!....Yeah!! Nokia rules!!!

  • palm pre heading to the UK in september wooohooo!

  • I have had my Palm Pre for 5 days. I upgraded from a reg. flip phone with phone and beeper only. I am not a computer wizard, but I have found that the Palm Pre is very user friendly. I have been able to use email, surf the web, use the contact list, use the gps and map options very easily. I would recomend it to almost any age group with or with a lot of experience with new tech.

  • can anybody tll me if have any idea when ths cute n sexy cell is launching in india... im hunger to get ths hot n bloody good phone.

  • iPhone killer? Not a chance.

  • I have tested this one and i must say that the new Iphone will beat this one....why? Because it's more user friendly!!

  • the phone has a microSD card slot. read the details of the phone before posting.

  • It has 8GB internal - read the review before you write something stupid...

  • Im really into this phone the only thing for me that is a slight upset is the fact that there is no dedicated camera button and no expandable memory. but i personally love the keyboard and im a big handed gentlemen and the touch screen works flawlessly. I would like to browse the web and take a call but i believe thats a CDMA issue and not a phone flaw. This phone is the closet thing to perfect in my opinion. im definately looking forward to more from palm in the comming years now.

  • why no review of the palm pre on gsmarena???

  • the specs look bare but is it really posing a threat to iPhone??

  • No memory card slot?!?

  • so Palm when is it coming to UK?

  • totally agree with you.

  • Availability in Europe?

  • the only good thing abt dis phone is its size... though it will b very difficult to beat the apps offered by app store!!

  • I wonder why Palm made this phone so limited... maybe they wanted to have full compability with the Iphone???

  • It does not matter what fone i have i want to comment on 8GB of memory.. Since i change fones often collecting more songs and films i have 16GB card BUT things are getting out of hand..different fones means formatting old card as info on a windows fone corrupts a lot when placed in a symbian fone,,then you have to put the whole mp3s, films back on and its getting more confusing and taking ages...Since the n97 has a minimum 32GB then thats getting out of my league and laptop space is now near limit..My reason for this comment is you saying 8GB is enuf for most people and your quite right in that comment ,,having more, ie 48 GB on n97 straight away is ridiculous ,,you cannot keep full control of that amount of data on a smartfone,,a big 14inch laptop yes.. I hear on the grapevine there was a queu for this. this morning..

  • It definitely has GPS, megapixels are not the sign of camera quality, true, video recording is missing at launch but they said it will come as a software update, 8GB is enough for most people, especially for those who don't use an 8MP (phone!) camera that they don't need (see, I'd be interested how many people use the phone camera for professional purposes or to make poster-sized images). Also, ease of use, amazingly smart system solutions Palm is known for (they're even known for adding nice touches to their WinMo phones' systems), true multi-tasking (enhancing that ease of use even more), not to mention multi-touch, full physical QWERTY keyboard etc. etc. I believe Samsung Innov8 is a great phone but not everybody wants that kind of phone. Still neither Pre nor any other phone is the "best ever". It can only be best to an individual.

  • At this moment, there's only a CDMA version tied to Sprint, but a GSM version has been confirmed, only we don't know the exact release date as of yet.

  • Look at the specs, it's basicly an Iphone. Nothing new here. Get a N97, Omnia HD or Satio instead!

  • it's multitouch phone!!

  • the nicest phone I have seen in this earth.

  • this is the kind of phone im looking for. design is gorgeous.

  • No video, no radio and no card slot. I will not buy it.

  • best phone ever on earth soon people forget iphone and start asking what is iphone? os works as smooth as butter on bred. best hardware.

  • its a very nice phone , far superior than iphone and is technologically advanced compared to its peers

  • I run through quite a few handsets every few years. I think I am counting some 12 over the last 9 years. I Just got a Pre on launch day saturday and I have to say this is by far the most bad ass phone I have ever owned. I have very little complaints

  • wow, apple fanboy much. Its pretty well known the ipods are far from the best mp3 players out there. With their lack of format support and proprietary everything they are anything but. Getting back to their prices being through the roof and sound quality and volume being second to a long list of competitors. Please try to add something a little bit more useful rather then spouting nonsense simply because you have drank the apple Koolaid

  • You have one? Does it have the blotches across the bottom of the screen, apparently quite a few Pre's have this.

  • why there is no video features wait the next version?

  • What people like palm have to realize is 1/ Iphone has merged the best ever mp3 player into their product 2/ The operating system (OSX) has the DNA of fore-fathers of personal computers dating back 2 decades 3/ App Store 4/ read number 3 again 5/ did I mention App store? 6/ and of course, App store!! oh, and Itunes as an after thought.

  • the pre does have gps...

  • Exactly what expectations has palm set in this phone?

  • hahaha not many people turn up. not like iphone. the palm pre having problem hahaha

  • no this baby is gonna suck...wait till you experience the horrible battery life..and tons of other problems...

  • I have it and to be honest i love alot of its features but hate the fact that it has a terrible battery lasts...If your willing to charge your phone twice a day then go for it...or maybe even turn off the wifi, lower the brightness, turn off 3g, location etc and you might get off with a little more improved battery life...

  • nice phone

  • Status Coming soon.. whats going on there.. this phone is available ;) everybodys says "iphone killer" but i thnk pre is "iphone copy" ;)

  • Sorry a little new to this phone stuff. Does this phone take a SIM card so that I can use it all over the world with any carrier or is it just a CDMA phone?

  • nice and cute phone, rather then all of them they have it in market, just can`t wait to buy, and i am really big fan "palm treo" patel,

  • That's the CDMA version for the USA. The phones on this website are GSM and the GSM version of the Pre has not been released.

  • This phone has been launched, gsmarena staff needs to change the specs and release date.

  • It seems it's a good phone. Better than iPhone.

  • phone is f-an awsome first in line to get it

  • how come gsmarena don't have a review of the palm pre?????

  • Bad news is gsm unlocked will probably come out next year still. Good news is, most bugs will be fixed by then.

  • You americans are WAY behind in cellphones. I have the samsung innov8 which is 10 times better than a pre or Iphone. 8MP cam ..video cam. slo mo. Fantastic GPS with Route 66 builtin ......... 16GB internal with 16GB micro card. Pre??? crap camera. no GPS no card slot.....etc etc. People cheering this thing evidently haven't been outside of the USA and seen what is available to us.

  • Looks very fat to me

  • Does it have "Note Pad" application support?

  • Awesome.........I get 8gb Internal memory..yoooooo

  • this baby is gonna rock!

  • Wow, this phone is just gonna be awesome. I have this feeling that it will be a hit. I have used many phones and none excites me than this gem. Palm pre has raised expectations and met them easily.

  • (PocketIE) is a wrong detail in the browser spec. It's a WebKit based browser not PocketIE!

  • LG GD900 will have real flash?

  • Analog radio is a no-no. But this is understandable given that nowadays we have radio through the internet - and this phone is first coming to the market where you'll have it only with unlimited data plans, so people won't have to worry about that. About using the camera for video, I believe they said it won't be available on launch, but it will be available after one of the subsequent updates to the OS.

  • No radio?, no video?

  • Sorry pal but yes Omnia wonderful Opera web browser does have flash support and I can view the same desktop version of youtube and all other websites with a different flash format, like this one here.

  • v nice phone, wud hv been better if it has video recording capabilities and flash for web. if it did, i wudnt think twice, but now im not sure between this and lg gd900.

  • nice shape and design...gorgeous

  • You would not say Omnia is the best if you had HTCs Touch HD or Touch Pro 2. They are much nicer to use and I think the Pre will be too. Does Omnia support flash like the Pre will? I dont think so!

  • Hmm... you don't listen to the man.. Huge memory, bigger keyboard and better camera (BTW I hear Pre's camera is wicked - great quality pictures - if you need something even better, why buy a phone then?) doesn't interest him... On the other hand, what I can tell is if you have some medical application that worked on Palm OS (I've heard of one) then I believe it will work on Palm Pre. You'll just need to get an application called Classic - which is really an emulator for older Palm OS, in which you should be able to run thousands of old Palm OS applications: Honestly don't know about medical apps for iPhone. As for the internet, they both provide pretty much the best you can get for browsing the internet on such a small device. Both base their browsers on the same open source technologies but have it implemented in slightly different ways... Music. What I know you can do with Pre, regarding to music: buy it from Amazon music, sync it from iTunes and simply copy paste from your computer, like you'd do on a USB device. iPhone, I'm sure syncs with iTunes but other than that I'm not sure what it can do... Also, Pre's OS is much more thought out regarding interruption (notifications) and multi-tasking so you should have a lot better experience with it. I know iPhone's notification system lacks but I don't know how it is regarding listening to music. I heard you can't simultaneously listen to the music and use other applications. I can't believe that. My ages old Treo on 1990s PalmOS could do that and Pre will certainly be able to do that. Hope I helped a bit! :)

  • You know, it's all about preferences (and the overall package - I'm not buying just a big screen or just a big USB stick, you know). N97 or Touch Pro 2 doesn't move my boat a bit. And I'm European! ;) BTW, I would say, looking at the specs that N97 or Touch Pro 2 are more American than Pre - they are more powered, just like American cars, yet European cars, having smaller engines, still have same or more power...

  • It's more the other way: will Garmin support this? Which you should ask Garmin. ;) But it's got a GPS so there should be more GPS apps other than Google Maps available in the near future.

  • That's 4-5 hours of *talk* time. Standby is about 300 hours (please don't take me on that). ;) Sure, it could be better, but it's not too bad either...

  • ah, we'll know about the battery life, the OS and the performance, and others on June 6th, CDMA version for Sprint is going to be there....

  • Why is this phone rated so high? The screen is tiny, memory is small etc. Personally the iphone (to be released soon) the nokia n97 the htc touch pro 2 and the idou all kill this phone. Plus its ugly as dogs balls. Must be an american thing.

  • Neither of them. Get a N97 instead, with 32GB internal memory and a QWERTY-keypad, as well as a good camera, unlike Palm and Iphone.

  • Specs suck! Nothing new or impressive... even the OS is a copy of iphone! (Which also sucks!)

  • Hey does anyone know if this will support garmin?

  • Let's hope they make a buyable 1500mAh battery. That would be nice.

  • There is a leaked document on the net that has all of the official specs on the pre. It says the battery life is 4-5 hours, which is sad. I've been waiting for the pre since it has been announced and now this low blow. Why wouldn't Palm think to up the ante on the battery?? I hope the performance is better. No wonder they were so hush hush on it...

  • headache man..palm pre or iphone 3g?? i pay attetion to medical application and entertainment such as music and online..which one better??? any suggestion

  • It's not about the size, it's about what's inside... ;)

  • but its colour suck man..onli 64k .. its the main reason i choose palm pre..

  • Have you people ever considered the HTC Touch Pro2 ? I mean it has a better and bigger screen. Plus it has a full Querty Keyboard, which is bigger and easier to use than the one in Palm Pre.

  • i think the battery life is same as iphone 3g, because all pda almost same ya~i think palm better than iphone 3g ya~

  • I don't think the Omnia is a real treat. * It uses Symbian. An out dated OS. * Cost too much. Not worth it when the hardware will be "top notch" for max 6 months.

  • hey, anyone knows how long is the battery life for palm pre?? longer or shorter than iphone 3g ??

  • you smartphone must not be good because you keep buying them [charly] see my point

  • the screen is to small

  • What are palm waiting for. Release the phone while you can because once the two giants are out (Omnia HD and N97) it will be too late for pre.

  • TouchDual didnt even have GPS nor Wi-Fi, had a weak CPU from Qualcomm and weak battery. Please dont compare such an inferior device to the Palm Pre, thanx. :)

  • Why should I try something that's inferior to the Pre and WebOS? There's still people (me) who wants QWERTY. Touch screen based keyboards suck balls.

  • Lol.... virus on a Smart Phone?? You are kidding right??? Ive had a lot of Smartphones WM based without any virus. That is iphone lover BS

  • seem like 95 % of virus out there are created to attack windows so ...

  • Nice of Palm to join us in 2006. Of course it's 2009! WTH? Can they have waited any longer to launch a slider smartphone with QWERTy? Try HTC Touch Dual for starters....

  • i heard they got virus already out there for those phone got windows on it.

  • can this palm get virus because got window on it? like vista . if vista having problem why would i buy a palm. iphone rulz

  • Last Palm I had was a Tungsten T5 and I don't miss it. Very unstable OS. This is a totally different beast and specs sure are interesting but I'm still thinking about getting the Nokia E55. Sure, it has no touchscreen or Appleish cuteness but specs are as complete (or better) and I'm sure the kernel will be a lot more solid to use as an organizer+phone. And what's the CPU on the Palm? Still no published on the specs...

  • I wonder what programming language the pre can handle? I know the entire OS is made up of html + css + javascript, but, are any apps made in C#, C++, etc...? Anyone have an inside on that?

  • Wondering, how Palm OS works with documents, like Words or Excel. How about contact data kept on other Windows OS, or other phone using Windows. Do we have to key in contacts one by one? What about third party "software"? That means there's no "update possibility. What about the units for Asian countries, - unlocked model? How can data kept on other OS be transfered to Palm Pre?

  • Yes it's true.

  • Is it true that it has wireless battery charging capacity?

  • They should have GSM too. We are all waiting for this phone.

  • June 6th is the US launch date

  • Sprint has announced today that the Palm Pre will be available on June 6.This is confirmed.

  • Guys finally its here!!! Pre is releasing in US on Sprint on 6th June... hope it comes outside US asap..

  • Sorry dude, never used Nokiass ;)!

  • June 6 - $299 - Sprint He is perfect ! The future of the mobile is the web.

  • Its official Sprint will Launch this phone in JUne 6 for the Price of $199.99 Check it out guys

  • coming to sprint on 6-6 but i want the GSM version ....

  • With 2 year contract on sprint network,,no sign of uk launch date yet

  • /me hope Palm will announce the GSM version soon!

  • Palm Pre on June 6th for $200: It's official!

  • is perfect

  • This is a very good phone...But I think it will perfect fine in U.S since this will be carried by SPrint Network.. Theres no specific date of the lunch but if not JUne it will be July..You have to look out for its charger..It verryy Cooolll!!

  • While this is a very well designed phone and will be full of the usual Palm innovations, it is (like the iPhone), really targetted at the US and will be technically obsolete in Europe by June. Just compare the specs to the Samsung Omnia HD for example that has a massive OMLED display, 8MP camera, HD video recording and enough screen real estate to emulate much of WebOS through the browser. I think the Pre will do well in the US, but here, people will gravitate towards Android and the Nokia N97, in particular after the Samsung i7500 Android handset arrives. Palm should have upped the spec of the camera and included an FM radio. Currently, the phone is too much about business (so going against the Blackberry) and not enough about fun.

  • This phone is NO-WHERE NEAR ugly.... You people need to get out more. iPhone is NOT the only phone in the world. Personally speaking, WebOS makes OSX appear outdated. ...Plain & simple.

  • yes this is great new rival has come... needs more support.. like iphone.. a lot of facebook apps can run in iphone.. and a lot of games.. like bb now has more apps can be use.. only powerfull phone.. not great enough..

  • Yes, me too. :) Nokia is sooo outdated.

  • Couldn't agree more on the Nokia part. ;-)

  • Wow is that fugly, but I'm sure it works well.

  • internal memory is better mate, its faster at loading. How can anyone rate this phone yet? no one has actually used one. As for the bloke who said get a nokia... you stick to you completely useless nokia and ill stick to buying proper smart phones.

  • Well...it is made in Asia because Asia got the best hardware companies... Look at Motorola now....dying...going down...no longer able to compete...

  • Good points!

  • The phone looks gorgeous! Looks big at first...but Look at it on YouTube and on the Palm site...phone actually looks slim. I think this phone may be the 1st in giving the iPhone some real competition!

  • however it's still will be made in Taiwan(asian) anyway so..??what's the point!?? so..yeah...better stick to NOKIA with more features anyway.

  • A few changes and this phone would be 'perfect' (well, in my opinion anyway...)! First, take out the huge internal memory and add a hot-swap micro sd card slot. Second, add primary and secondary video recording. Third, change qwerty keyboard to slide out horizontally instead of vertically. If those changes are implemented on the next Pre, maybe called the Palm Post (lol), then I am going to be all over it.

  • is any one can really give a factuall opinion about this phone...?? indonesia?? i'm indonesian

  • I think I'll get the Verizon version first You guys Indonesian just stick to NOKIA

  • Welcome again Palm ! This Pre is very wide and I really like that. I cannot wait to have again an excellent PDA.

  • hey guys palm is going to laucnch pre on 7th June in U.S

  • Good phone.

  • palm is 1st gna make 1 for sprint then 1 for europe

  • I hope this phone is never released in Ghana.

  • who cares where ur frm or wat ur....???? like siriusly?? lmao

  • The phone is nice but extrememly large i really dont like this model of handset...

  • Come on Palm, hurry up. I can't wait any longer this baby to release in Indonesia. What do you waiting for Palm?

  • It's really a fantastic phone, am a Ghanaian whose interest is in smart phones, currently using iphone but I think this palm pre would be one of the best not commiting the mistake by apple. Please speed up the release date so that those in Africa especially Ghana.

  • Palm pre is the most and powerfull smart phone number One !! than the blackberry curve 8320 and Storm, and Nokia n96 !!!!! Palm Pre Is very thing, perfect OS, completly in feactures like wifi high speed (not lower like iphone 3g and blackberry), good camara 3.1 with flash, powerfull touchscreen, and very confortable. Palm RuleZ !!!

  • This will definately be the killer phone to have for 2009. Though, I doubt it will make much of an impact being that it will be en the Sprint CDMA network. I was able to find a GSM Palm Pre. Too bad it's not coming out in the States

  • O2 or Vodafone in the U.K??????

  • there is a gsm version that palm is making for other markets in the world

  • This device is going to be offered by sprint... since when does sprint offer GSM? this must be a CDMA device

  • It can compete with the big boys, Apple, Microsoft, Google because its Palm. The original PDA professionals. They literally created the modern PDA, the precursor to PDA phones, which are the precursor to smartphones.

  • They do have service centre in Singapore. I used to use 650 and own the headset. When I was deciding to buy either 650 or O2 mini, the seller said that one lacking of Palm is that they don't have service centre in Indo but I bought the 650 anyway coz really like Palm OS (used 600 and GS Zircon). Then when there was connecting issue with my headset, I simply email my problem, getting quick response and got the replacement at no cost at all, after shipped my defected headset to Sing - at no cost at all! Excellent service!

  • It's not... It's using WebOS.

  • why this phone using palm OS?

  • That's... not so good, tbh. 8GB won't last for a long time. Other than that, it looks great. It will be nice to test it in the stores, IF it even reaches Sweden... hopefully under 2009...

  • any price idea when b launch in india?

  • does anyone know the uk release date?

  • Will be released in South Africa toward end of the year, possibly beggining 2010 after networks have approved - a long wait. Contact the distributer to confirm [email protected]

  • it was clearly mentioned several times, that's there no external memory slot...

  • Release date rumored to be 17th of may also Pre was seen on the street in USA already which means it's ready to hit the market.

  • Please correct your Card Slot field. The Palm Pre supports microSD cards. It was clearly mentioned at CES.

  • It is good to see Palm making a come back. I have been using Windows Mobile devices for years now, and I am sick of all the user interface problems. I think Palm has a chance to make a come back, as Microsoft is at the moment just sitting on the side line, with nothing much happening. An example of a problem that I have been putting up with, is Alarms. I have been using a PDA as an organiser, however the alarms never seem to work properly. In the WM 5 edition alarms use to go to sleep on you, MS seem to have fixed this problem in the WM 6 edition, however alarms seem to still have the problem with timing out too quickly. If this wasnt so much an issue, there wouldnt be so much third party software around, to try to fix the problem. The problem however with third party software, it too has problems interfacing with the Windows Mobile OS and therefore it never works properly. If you dont use alarms very often, I suppose this is not much of an issue, however if you are using the PDA/Smartphone as an organiser then this could be an issue. Anyway there are so many other user interface shortfalls that the WM has, it would take me all day to go through them. Good luck Palm.

  • How about writing documents on this thing i mean does it have programs that are Word like and easy to download on a computer easy emailing and web browisng very cool yes but what if i want to write something or download a Word file.Winmo devices have it i heard that this OS is linux based does linux mean trouble for my Windows desktop computer... ?

  • It will not only be able to record video, I'm pretty sure it would be able to record HD 720p Video! Just look at the technicals - TI OMAP 3 (3430) processer (600mhz) and the DxO labs image processer for the camera have enough computing power to enable 720p HD Video recording! This must be Palm's USP, and one of the best kept secrets - expect a video related announcement from Palm at launch or sometime after it, for sure!

  • It looks fantastic, but how come they didn't learn from Apples foolish mistakes - You can't release a phone that doesn't so the basic things a phone does now. Even 4 year old phones record video. Come on Palm, get video sorted to make this an all round iPhone contender.

  • take a look at the presentation (CES) of palm pre, the OS looks promising..

  • Palm Pre is phone for 4G network! sample

  • it cannot record video.. hahahahahaha.... why didn't Palm just get rid of that useless camera and put radio on it! and that will make us all happy.

  • you need more memory this palm have 8gb ok

  • Well it has a questionable OS they promise it to be great but how can Palm compete with Apple,Google,WinМo devices? Phone looks great in term of specs but now i saw the lack of cardslot makes it a little bit dull.I really don't care about the camera which is not good too but limited to 8gb....c'mon all new Diamond on our hands again i'm not saying it's not enough but limitations like that are not good for sales....anyone know about the price is it gonna be like Xperia (too pricy) or like G1 (affordable) also anyone know of a release date ?

  • All the features sound exciting on paper! Let's see how it pans out actually. Anyone knows when it's going to be launched in Singapore? If only PALM had a service centre in Singapore; even a small one out of city area would suffice, definitely will boost biz. Have been palm user for the past 5 years; like functionality but hangs ever so often + battery life SOOOOO short! To top it all, talking to customer svc in another country is certainly of no help.

  • Dont have second camera and no have solt sd

  • Wuaaoo.. an complete phone, and only 133g of weight... has wifi and 3G, cool...

  • good phone this phone and moto a3100 are like but something are beter in a3100 and bothare very beter than x1 and all nokia se phone

  • I hope their definition of coming out soon = in a month or two. Last quarter of 2009 is such a long wait.

  • I reckon this could topple the iPhone, only if Palm market this thing properly like Apple has been doing. Honestly, the specs are very good, it looks great, has all the features and is attractive to developers. Pricing and marketing are the final frontier for Palm

  • Stevo - according to the distirbutors, the Pre will be launched in SA in October/November 2009

  • what is enhanced fixed focus??? i want AUTOFOCUS! I so wanted to buy this phone, oh well i guess i wait for pre2 or something..

  • You are talking rubish. Check the Palm website.

  • by the way, that web site was just an april fools day joke

  • here is the link for the new palm phone

  • if you think this phone is good then your crazy, Wait until you see the new Palm Treo *POST* it has a talk time of 2 weeks, stand by time of 2 months AND 21mpg CAMERA!!! be aware, because PALM IS FINALLY BACK!!!! its weird how gsm arena hasn't posted this phone yet

  • If it comes out in Europe for 600$ US it's definetily mine but if it's anything above that i might as well go for Touch HD does anyone have info about when it'll be realeased ?

  • does anyone know if its going to talk to outlook and if so is it compatible with windows 2007?

  • Finally long awaited I would say. I used to have a Treo but stopped using it, too bulky and the battery life was really louzy. This one looks perfect is a "companion" phone, with pretty much everything, keyboard great idea, this was why I didn't buy an iphone. Looking forward, anyone knows when it will be out and in Europe?

  • I'm sorry I don't think I understand what you're trying to tell me. I'll try my best. But the last part is just a common arguments. Partially agree...there's something wrong with cellphones nowadays (when it comes to the price of cellphones)...it's not the softwares problem to me...it's more like marketing scheme...no matter how ridiculous the price is...people are willing to pay for it...their marketing strategy is good for them bad for us... No matter what kind of softwares they have in their phones....lack of certain features or not....people will still buy it.....the first generation iPhone for example...It was overpriced and people are still lining up in front of Apple Stores and AT&T stores...software wise...not so cool back then, without copy and paste and mms functionality. They'll make us keep on buying new phones that we think it's getting better, hahaha ...things are growing pretty fast....they're just making it slow, maximizing profit from the current release before they jump to the next release...we're just their victim...bought one, disappointed with its features.....looking for better phone(s) in next 2 years... Oh yeah, if you still think softwares as an illusion, this might be a good example, think of a phone that comes with nothing installed (absolutely nothing, in a state where phone can't do anything and can't respond to any key because it's not programmed at all) and you pressed the power button and you see the screen getting lighted up but showing nothing...This could be a bad release to me....but this has nothing to do with palm Pre... My rule of thumb for purchasing a phone would be....find a phone that I think I like all its features and all disadvantages it has won't affect me that much...and for the price....if I think if the phone can satisfy me with all its features and affordable....I'll go for it... That's all I want to say....was trying to convince you software is not an illusion but part of the phone...well everyone has their own beliefs, if you believe software is an illusion, I'm fine with it...will occasionally try to convince you though, hahaha.....

  • normally it goes to Sprint, then other carriers, and the latest release would be the unlocked version.....should be available worldwide

  • Yeah, no more infrared....

  • Nice specs and from what i've seen from reviews this phone is gonna be a great device but...if Palm don't launch it soon other manufacturers like HTC,Samsung,LG,SE,Nokia even Toshiba (with that 1ghz monster) and etc. will beat them to the chase of customers this year especially HTC with the Android based devices witch everyone drools around.Really looking forward to this device and the review from GSMARENA.

  • I loooove the look on this phone but i would never buy it .... i wish nokia or sony ericsson would do a phone similar as it looks

  • hi any 1 knw when the phone will be released in south africa?????

  • Hi! Anyone knows when Pre will be launched in Singapore?

  • Yes. Everything gets synced with google calendar, so you can edit all your appointments on a mac. :)

  • I would like to know if it is Mac compatible. Will I be able to sync my calendar and contacts between the Pre and my Mac computer?

  • looks like "htc touch" :s

  • the specs and design looks great.

  • Palm pre O2UK exclusive? check this out - Enjoy

  • Any chance therell be a keyboardless version of the pre? Sort of like the HTC Dream???

  • I have read that the Palm Pre will not have an infared port. Is anyone sure that they do have infared? I am a realtor and I need need that. thanks

  • Let's say that one day some will make a hardware other software and you can buy any cell phone and put any soft. Then witch phone you will buy (with 2 speakers and camera or with 1 speaker and no camera). And why good phone with everything (and more)will be vary expensive. If a good phone is 600$ then good laptop have to be 60000$.For the last 5 years i buy 4 phones for 400$ each. This is 1600$.In fact this 4 phones was the same shit hardware with different soft.So if i was buy a great phone device before 5 years (witch is impossible 'cose no one don't want to make e great phone device) now i will use the software of Palm pre for ex. on my great device and and it will be not more 1000$ for this 5 years. There is something wrong today on the cell phone market and it is 'cose no one want to see this "software illusion" witch is good for mobile companies and bad for us. Bad 'cose it is more expensive Bad 'cose it is slow process for technology revolution witch seems like a evolution.

  • i want janam kundali, horoscop, numerlogi& panchang softwear in my phone. [email protected]

  • i want the external memory slot i have more data for that reason i want memory slot when i formate the phone my softwear get wipe off. [email protected]

  • This phone is absolutely awesome read a review on engadget....hope it would be out soon and not too expensive 2

  • You're right about everyone has their own preferences...Everyone wants a perfect product that suits themselves and make them 100% satisfied...that is true...but I don't think that's going to happen...take any product, there'll be at least 1 disadvantage.... ...Most preinstalled applications on smartphones are the same, calendar, clock, alarm, etc...from the old mobile phone to any smartphones, they all have those apps, aren't they...Applications being illusions...I will have to disagree on that...(Will agree if you say you can't directly look at it or touch it or feel it)...Both hardwares and softwares are working together, say you have a phone with a pair of good stereo speaker, without the music file (which you call it illusion), it just won't work...ah you need a software to play it too... + I don't see a good point of phones with stereo speakers since they're being close to each other..but that's just my personal preference...audiophiles need it, not me XD Hardware-wise...I don't think any company will make a phone with 1.5GHz processors, 100GB of memory and such, it's going to be very expensive, and faster processors is the long battery life's worst enemy...Well, complicated...just...enjoy whatever smartphones we can afford....hahaha....

  • Can someone tell me if the Palm Pre will support REMOTE Sim Access Profile (rSAP) ? Thanks for all.

  • yes, that is what exactly I was trying to say, there's no perfect phone, you can't expect it to do everything perfectly (in respond of someone's post who mentioned it should be able to project a video, Jhon @ 2009-03-06 03:18)...I myself do not expect it to be able to do so. I would get a phone that does its job, and a camera for myself. hm...speaking about algorithm, it's true that you can always make it run faster, but that wasn't what I meant. I was saying phones are getting upgrades so often with new features and stuff and some of them which appears to be a fix, the phone model doesn't change that much etc...I hope that helped, sorry for the misunderstanding. Well, WebOS is a real genius, I'm looking forward to get this phone, or android phones, let's see which one I like more.... Anyone knows if this phone will have international support? Previous Palm OS doesn't have international support unless we install third party softwares. Both my Treo600 and 680 weren't able to display SMS sent in non-English character....I hope WebOS could do this...heh...physical keyboard ftw~

  • GSMArena doesn't report on CDMA phones - this is the Euro GSM/3G version.

  • palm will blow all phones out the water with the PRE iphone better step thier game up because there a new big fish in town PREEEEEEEE

  • Just read an interesting article from phonesreview.co.uk It states that the phone will be released on the 15th March and hit shops soon after. This is for the U.S. market; however still no release date for Europe :( Source -

  • Why does GSMarena.com report that the Palm Pre will have 3G HSDPA on the North American 850/1900mhz bands? Most other websites are reporting that the initial European Palm Pre GSM release will not be compatible with North American 3G networks due to Sprint's exclusive deal with Palm.

  • iphone, G1 and Pre... what do they have in common? Well, there's the hype each one has created; that is goog! The bad? The three of them lack soooo many things... Why cant they just pack them with decent specs to make the hype worthwhile? The pre confirms my point...No radio, no video capabilities, no secondary camera, no card slot, etc? WTF??

  • Love the demo the gave on the Jimmie Fallon Show last nite. The new wireless charger is a plus. No holes to poke into.

  • good work palm, i am really waiting for this phone. pls palm launch this great device asap

  • looks kinda cute..hopefully the price would be reasonable...

  • Its a great smart phone. Its awesome.

  • You say Palm pre is great soft.Ok it is.But every new soft. was great. All cool software staff in Palm pre will be in other phones like an Apps.We will see them no the iphone or win or symb. or android. The software is illusion only hardware has mater. If you make great soft for stereo sound what can you do with one speaker. So Palm pre for me is the next soft illusion as others soft before. They will make own apps and so on... Then maybe Android will make the same. And then someone else.i don't want more "clever" soft 'cose it is clever for people that make it,but not for me.Everyone has own understanding. But everyone want's stereo speakers, very long battery life,100gb memory or more, max great camera with xenon flash, fast cpu.Whit such a great hardware i can use every kind of soft ideas. So Palm pre for me is a bad or like most of others bad hardware device and it is only different way to make ordinary things, like Palm pre organizer for ex. It's shame for them. 2009 want more freedom more quality and everything to work with everything everywhere. Thing of this all cd players to use different size cd - madness. This is gsm evolution today - madness. I will be happy with great hardware and software freedom.Palm pre is a weak hardware and no software freedom, and what kind of sex can someone make with this "sexy" phone?

  • What? No card slot, no HSCSD, fixed focus cam with no video capabilities and no secondary camera?? no radio?? IE?? WebOS had better be far beyond totally amazing!!

  • Okay, it may not be a 12.1 MP phone with a wide display angle, xenon, stereo speakers, swappable card, HD recording like the Omnia HD or even recording at full HD like no other phone can at this time, it does not project videos like the Samsung i7410 phone as well, it does not feature a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor or 1.5 Ghz dual-core Snapdrogon as well and no Hi-Fi audio...BUT THAT ALL DOES NOT MATTER, if you want a camera then buy one, not a phone that can't even compare with a true camera, if you want a video recorder buy one, it can even record at 120 fps in HD, you want a music player, get an Apple..this is is a SMART PHONE...that means you should be able to easily browse the web, make phone calls, and install programs to do my work with no bugs, crashes or something like that...jeez...it isn't the hardware that matters, you could have the best specs in the world but it depends on how you can take advantage of them, in our computers today the limitation is the damn software, if there is somebody intelligent enough to make a good piece of software that is very ergonomic, easy to use then even and fast then productivity can increase, a computer or a smart phone can run up to 1000% faster and is more responsive if the programmer did his/her homework, no kidding...I have to admit that it is hard to do such a thing being a programmer myself, but this phone has a fine piece of software and has great potential, it is a major step forward and for those at Palm you have my deepest appreciation for the Palm WebOS, it's truly genius....

  • No external slot. No video. This is not worth a purchase.

  • true it doesnt hv those features but does an iphone killer truly need those features? i mean the iphone has made user-replaceable batteries a feature. the bluetooth on iphone is a joke. MMS is absent on iphone. iphone has an even worse camera (2mp with no flash). also the keyboard on iphone is too small. iphones lack of features that were on phones before it was anounced is shocking yet everyone now compares the new phones to the iphone. webOS looks like a v gud OS. this is the only phone that can charge wirelessly altho its not v important, its small things like that that will make a dif for some ppl. flash support for its browser is there and this is not on iphone nor winmo. this has a gesture pad which is unique. ur rite that while it doesnt hv gr8 features it has some unique features and has far more features than iphone so yes it is an iphone killer in that aspect. but the ppl who buy iphone r not looking for the features.

  • This phone is sexy

  • According to Palm, Palm Pre will support video with their third party softwares, not much information are given...and Mojo will be easy to use...Palm webOS comes with applications, I've never actually seen a phone that came without applications. There's no perfect phone in this world, there'll be advantages and disadvantages and companies will "fix" it on their next newer model, with new disadvantages... about the issue that some people are not happy about Palm Pre for "no video projector"...I've never seen a phone that's capable of projecting videos/images like a video projector...

  • I would say, it is not perfect. But yes, it will take some iPhone market. At least it has a Bluetooth that is not a joke, IR, better resolution camera with flash, MMS. It dont has some features like film recording... but iPhone neither. Nice design, nice hardware, and for sure a hard fight with Symbiam, Mac OS and oogle to conquer software developers.

  • Are you blind?!!What iPhone killer?!!No video rec.No video out.No video projector. No divx.No stereo speaker Bad camera only fullish 3mp.No 30gb memory or more.No applications. What can you do with this in real.Only very good promo for this device and we all become blind. And why is this kbs when you have touch. This device is a step behind and we are so blind.Something really better will be with no moving parts and buttons, with video projector, with speech control, with smooth video recording, with great camera and more more more memory.Everyone knows what is great device but no one can't see it.Why?!!

  • Yes, it has a flash! :) And it is a lot thinner than previous Treos, so don't worry about that. :)

  • Wait, does this phone AT LEAST have a flash? i have a real problem with this phone if it does not have that. And i hope the phone is not as big and bulky as the treo was, because I love bringing my phone with me to clubs and a big bulky phone will pop out of my pockets all night long!

  • Perfect phone, just need a micro SD (or any external memory)

  • Yes, it has integrated GPS. :)

  • Finally Palm OS with wi-fi!! This is my dream phone!!! Any idea how much will this baby cost in singapore??

  • gps built in?????

  • Personally, I love the vertical slider. I have a side-slider now (i760). It isn't exactly a huge hassle, but I don't like turning my phone to the side and having the screen orientation flip every time I need to type. I love that with the Pre you can just pop it open and start typing a search across all of the phone's apps, contacts, and/or web content. My only reservation is the size of the screen. 3.1" just doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to my 18 mth old 2.8" screen. Being capacitive with a killer UI could make that moot I guess.

  • I can't wait! I've always thought Palm did teh best job of doing Outlook integration and their OS has always been rock-solid. I'm sure these will be super expensive upon release (>$200USD), but I'm willing to buy one if all teh hype is warranted.

  • How fast is the processor?

  • Two things really stand out that I don't like: 1) no video recording capability and 2) the keyboard - it should be a 5-row keyboard that slides out to the side like the HTC Touch Pro. Add these two features and I'll gladly switch from my Treo 755p!

  • Yeah folks this phone specs are very nice at least better than my iphone 3g but the cellphone manufacturer do not make the best phone because they want to crank up the cellphone market. So I mean we will see soon they will make a better phone. For instance, a new iphone is on the way. Lots of people predicting that a new iphone is coming. Also Blackberry and HTC are making nice phones. We will see soon. On the other hand, if you wait until they make a better phone then you will never get a phone. Because technology is going so fast. We better have a phone but I am pretty sure while we have they will make a better one. This is how the phone companies go on (: But the Palm made a really good phone and I am glad to see this phone. Regards,

  • the touchscreen phone war will finally finish aftr the release of palm pre it is the real iphone killer . but can the task manager blutooth battery life will be good enough though. palm pre should release a gsm version i hope ed colligan the palms main person reads this the phone is excellent and a way better camera . i want anyone to give the release date on a post as fast as possible . when can we get it

  • This is no Iphone Killer. This is an Iphone annihilator. Besides Iphone killer is used with any phone now a days. Every new phone seems to be called an Iphone killer. But Palm I think has finally beat the Iphone this time. That is if it does everything it is promising and the app store is as good Apple's app store. Can't wait to see it.

  • Finally Palm has made something all Palm fans have been waiting for since Treo 600/650! :D Pre is really amazing - its specs are very impressive. :) The only thing that bothers me is how easy is it going to be to write programs for it, because no platform can survive without good developers... We will see. And I really hope that this will be a huge success! :D And regarding the iPhone - it definitively is an amazing device, but it has soooooo many limitations (for my taste at least)!!! Bluetooth, copy/paste, no removable battery, mo true multitasking, and so on... I am glad that Palm has decided not to impose any of these silly limitations and can't wait to get the Pre! :D

  • ...I am not fond of slide out keyboards though...call me a purist but I prefer an all-touchscreen phone...no other or as few buttons as possible should be visible.

  • This has the potential to be a good phone, perhaps equal to the PRESENT iPhone....but an "iPhone killer"? I don't think so...because in due time, a new iPhone will be released which may again raise the standards for other phones to follow...let's wait and see...

  • I hope, palm win the problem vrs apple. I hope this isuue wont delay the product launch. Truly truly iphone killer

  • palm pre is a veryy awesome phone but without video recording which is bad i hope i will come in asia on a free carrier choice. but how can u type when on landscape mode while on net browsing but its rumored release date is 15 march hope it releases . its too good.

  • waow.... gorgeous..... can't wait for it....

  • this is a GSM phone, which is why its on this site (gsmarena.com). This phone is going to be a potential iphone killer due to the fluid motion of the UI and of course the amazing capacitive touch screen. I'm looking forward to seeing this thing in action.

  • The same, but Pre has a little display making it better!

  • iphone has a better resolution than pre?

  • OS seems well . I will try it Wonderful palm,,,,

  • haw match this phone thx.

  • The O.S. seems slow. 4 seconds for opening a app is 3 too many. Any specs on the processor?

  • This is the best phone I have ever seen! It's amazing. Yes I'm an iPhone fan, and yes the iPhone has a lot of free apps. However, the Palm has a full qwerty keyboard + the touch screen is as responsive as the iPhone's. Can't wait to see it, hopefully it's not going to be too expensive.

  • so this phone is cdma,,or gsm phone.....

  • I'm sure they will add video recording to the features soon, not that hard to implement.
