YES ZENFONE 5 SUCKS over its quality. Warranty for a year is over and the board is giving trouble. It keeps on booting after the ASUS logo appears. Take it to the service center, they will charge for RM53 first for checking with the software and costs RM400 to replace the mother board for a month warranty , at the ASUS center in Penang. Malaysia. The total repair costs almost amount to the costs of a new phone.!!! Looks like the parametric and functional tests performed on this ZENFONE 5 during manufacturing cannot detected the " walking wounded " until it is in the field after the warranty period. i.e. ONE YEAR and kiss it good bye. !!! Comment from a very Dissatisfied customer ( a Quality Professioner )

I have the same problem, it appear invalid arguments and failed to mount etc.. etc.. the problem is the emmc chip,the partition table is messed up dew off updating that crashed or wrong installation of software to the system, if there is a .RAW firmware of this unit it may be able to fix by unblocked all the nodes (partitions tables). i asked the service center personnel about the issue and the cost is 2000.00 pesos (45 dollars converted) estimated cost. Very important note: PLEASE, PLEASE before you do anything on the unit (update via OTA, install custom rom and other thing that can cause systems crash) please root it and install custom recovery (TWRP), this can be save your phone in the future.

I had no issues with this phone for the first year since i purchased it. After 17 months, phone started to fuck up.. the phone does not charge when powered on, i made a research and found it was a common issue with this phone. I brought it to a service center nearby and the technician charged me 1200php (philippine peso) by replacing a defective part connected to the motherboard. I have had issues with Windows, Nokia, Samsung and Sony mobiles as it freezes all the time and most apps don't work but with the Asus mobile, it doesn't freeze plus has much more to give than any other mobile I have used, I even use Adobe apps on it as i need to do some design for artwork for press and web plus the storage space is 32Gb with my another 32Gb, so you can see.... In Future I am looking at purchasing a Asus tablet if available.... Worth the Buy. BIG THUMBS UP.

Don't buy Asus phones. It is cheap but unreliable. After a year, my Asus Zenfone 5 A500KL could not boot. Brought it to the service centre and they diagnosed that the motherboard was spoiled. Warranty is over and i had to pay S$232 for replacement + S$80 labour cost. Not worth the money.

I have upgraded my A500KL Lollipop without problems, the problem of SD card not inserted occasionally happens to me too, but just restart seems a quick solution, what bothers me most is that sometimes mysteriously the SIMCard goes become unconnected in the night and the device is offline... for this i must switch off the device for 1 minute then restart. For both bug i have didn't found at the time any ASUS solution, i'm waiting for a new upgrade of OS by ASUS, in hope the bugs are resolved. Except a relative slowness to call, the phone works very well.

it's a cool phone if you do an Antutu benchmark it's the lowest... but for me it's a fast phone... lots of storage...has 4G... the download speeds are better than my office wifi using a lease line. The only thing that is not ok is the battery... I guess because of 4G it really drains your battery so you will have to recharge if you turn all your internet based apps such as twitter, fb, whatsapp, viber, line, we chat, skype, email and what not. I'm a heavy use so I have a backup power bank. The phone is an excellent choice just get a spare power bank to enhance it's performance

Got this phone a little less than 2 weeks ago. So far, I am really happy with it. It offers more than I expected. Excellent performance with no lag, some pretty cool preinstalled apps(some of them can be useless depending on user)and 4G support. Watching movies/youtube is an enjoyable experience thanks to its excellent screen and it can run high resource demanding games (like Asphalt 8) The battery is also pretty good, better than I expected. It should be enough for most people. I am not the person who is into camera's, but imo, the rear camera is a pretty good one and it offers plenty of options/effects. The front one is not as good, but it is sufficient for video calls. Anyway, if I wanted a really good camera, I will buy a real camera, this is a phone. :D So far, the only con I could find on this phone is a weak loudspeaker. I wish it was a little louder, but for the price, with everything else Zenfone A500KL offers, this is not something that should discourage you to buy it.

DO What i did.. my mom dropped it and broke the glass..i paid 2800 for the front glass and got it repaired with the local guy..then filed a replacement from flipkart and got the new one for her. it can be done but atleast 3k ul have to spend to change the glass. hope it works for u.

The phone got many issues,right out of the box. The first time I used it,google account had problem syncing. Google play got authorization issues too. So I reset to the factory setting. Now this time I can't connect to wifi. No,seriously,I can't even turn on the wifi,it kept turning off back. I've reset again and the same wifi problem is repeating. Might be a hardware problem,so I'll have to take it back to the store. But I had issues with Asus tablet too in the past,and I kinda regret I forgot about that before buying this new phone. Sigh.

problem is for those app to work perfectly you need root access. but with root access FOTA update will not work anymore. fail to install update. like mine did. my opinion don't root. unless you know how to flash you phone manually.

There's several methods, the best ones involve having root access, so if you haven't had rood already, and if you can then please by all means root your phone first. Then download Battery Doctor and go to its settings and find the Automatic startups and disable every autostart apps. They won't auto-launch the next time. (You could use other apps to disable autostarts if you want, but I find this one the most convenient.) Also enable "auto kill apps when screen is off" to ensure there's no background processes if you leave your phone for a while. Remember to remove annoying persistent apps from whitelist, too, or they will not be killed. Another useful app is Greenify. You can use this without root but it works better with root. It puts apps to hibernation (kind of like how iOS freezes apps so it won't consume battery) but there's some downside if you want to receive notifications from social apps like facebook, you won't see those until you open the app again because it's hibernated with this app. Could possibly work with root, though. If you use Battery Doctor and Greenify together, don't forget to add Greenify to Battery Doctor's whitelist and not to add Battery Doctor to Greenify's auto hibernation list. They will co-operate peacefully and your phone will be a happy device to a happy user. Good luck. (P/s: If you want to get rid of any system apps that you never use, simply root then download System App remover (ROOT) and use it to remove those. Deleting an app entirely is the most effective way to ensure there's no background process or autostart of it whatsoever.)

its very beautiful device.. Camera and Speed is good.. My only problem with this phone is the battery specially in heavy use like connect to a wifi, watching videos, play games.. You will notice that ur battery was draining faster.. So i recommend that u have a powerbank if u use it outdoor for camera or something or connect to a wifi,data connections.. But rather than battery its good phone and nice design and UI :)

Overall the Zenfone 5 16G is better than most smartphone with the same specs. Camera is nice and and you will appreciate it more at night. It's a little bit slow in capturing moving objects and fast moving videos. It has a gorilla glass 3 protection and sony camera which is both good. Audio needs improvement if ure on a loud speaker mode and might need an auxilliary speaker, it's fine though if u r using a headset. The only other let down is the battery as you have to charge ur phone everyday if u are heavy user or connected to the net a lot. However, other brands will have a similar problem. Overall very recommendable considering the price.

sorry to make many of u guys unhappy but i thought of sharing this that the zenfone 5 (cg501) available in india is not actually a fake one but in fact another model the zenphone 5 name holds the titile for 3 phones to be accurate presently.....that is the zenphone 500kl ie the 4g one with snapdragon 400 clocked at 1.2 ghz quad core maby the us variant, secondly the zenphone cg5o1 ie the one available in india...with 1.6ghz dual core intel z2xx processor(another one also exists with a 2 ghz processor) thirdly the upcommin one ie the zenphone 502(most probably) with a 1.2 dual core intel cpu nd 1 gig ram(also to be known as zenphone 5 lite) the ones with the intel processors should sport a higher performance in terms of cpu power while the snapdragon variants should be nearly equivalent but with better battery management but that is negligible as it is a 4g phone..... i love this phone a lot even though i currently do not own one......except for the battery life nd speakers.......though resonable for the price.... (the words i said may or maynot have errors so pls forgive for the same if any and ply comment and improve if possible) update: to make it simple just like samsung releases us(lte) variants and global/international (3g)variants with wayy different internals ...so has asus.... hope this helps

I bought it from flipkart and here's my review for A501CG: Pros: 1) Superb design: never dreamed of such slick, slim and handsome design under 10K----5/5. 2) Low weight: Despite of bulky in length, it manages to be just 145gm which is just awesome. 5/5. 3) Awesome screen: Screen is fantastic, brightness, color combinations everything is just fab. 5/5. 4) Performance: Multitasking is good, 2GB RAM can be useful. 4/5. 5) Good battery Backup: 2110maH battery lasts for full day(8/9 hours) with necessary stuffs like calling, browsing, chatting. 4/5. 6) Wow ZenUI: ZenUI features many good features like Sharelink, Partylink, PC link, Remote link, awesome wallpapers, nice ringtones, many camera modes, many editing options for photos, Auto micro film. You will never get bored with your phone using ZenUI. 5/5. Cons: 1) Performance: Phone lags a little bit while playing some games like Minion Rush. 3/5 2) Poor GPU: Zenfone A501CG comes with PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU, which is very poor. My score for camera is 2/5. 4) Device is too long to hold in one hand since it has extended area below and above touchscreen(though lower portion is attractive and looks good). 2/5. 5) Device still runs on Android 4.3 and no update information is confirmed from Asus care team, this is disappointing since now all new devices are coming with Android 4.4 and many are scheduled for Android L. 1/5. 6) The sound coming both in earphones and loudspeaker is cheap or poor. 3/5. I have returned the device to flipkart since camera and gaming which are important things for me, and I am thankful to Flipkart them as they co-operated very well. Hope, Asus will launch phones with good GPU in India.

I bought this phone yesterday here in my country (Philippines) then when I used it, I already experienced the battery performance it drains too much when you are using wifi or mobile data etc. But one thing I could say it has a better specs. Very fast when it comes to browsing and specially playing high memory games such as dead trigger, shadow gun and need for speed most wanted it didn't lag at all. Camera is quite good both night and day. I will definitely recommend this phone for those who want a high-end as well as a pocket saver phone.

I bought the Asus Zenfone 5 LTE in early Nov 2014 inspite of adverse comments/opinions like heating while charging, speaking, playing games, texting, surfing the net, low volume of speaker, poor quality of photos taken in the dark and battery ran out very fast. As a retiree my main reason I bought the phone was its cheap price as well as the new and improved features it has over other phones that cost more than twice. I experienced none of the adverse comments since using the Zen 5 LTE three weeks ago except for the battery which required charging every 20 hours or so. I was quite disappointed with the performance of the battery. However, I resolved the problem after reading an article on the internet on how to increase battery life. It said to fully discharge the battery and then recharge it fully. I did this about a week ago and since then I only charged the battery every two and half days. What a difference it made following the advice of the article. For those owners of the Zen 5 LTE who have problem with battery life, I suggest you follow my example and please share your experience after doing it. Many thanks. Worth buying this phone as I believe the problems mentioned earlier on were isolated cases. Its cheap and very good.

This phone has a better specification with its price. Do not expect that the battery will last longer because first ASUS did not put battery which is a higher MAH, then as we notice the Memory (2gb RAM) consumed more power because it is high enough compare to other lower end phone. Second is the screen which is 720p @ 294 ppi density it also affect its power to consume higher than what you have been expected. If you are always asking for the better battery consumption you can use powerbank as alternative or solution. Remember that if you want a fast and high-end phone but in cheaper amount do not expect perfectly. For me this phone is better and impreseve when it comes to its specs. Keep it up ASUS.

These are 2 version of Asus Zenfone 5.In Malaysia Asus bring 3 version of Zenfone 5.There are A500CG,A500KL and a new one A501CG.The different are A500KL is an LTE (4g) phone while the other 2 are not.A500KL in Malaysia only support single sim while other 2 support dual sim.A500KL use Qualcomm Snapdragon while the other 2 use Intel Atom.Why? Because Intel Atom doesnt support 4g.A500KL use 2gb of ram same as A501CG while A500CG use 1gb of ram.A500KL is a Quad-core phone while the other two are Dual-core phone.Quad-core = 4cores,Dual-core = 2cores.

The best budget phone around. Do not know why many got complaint over it. Been using it for 4 months so far so good. Got minor SW issue or bugs after feedback Asus did amend the problem. I believe there are bossting up their tech support but too bad after sale service and marketing is still poor. If you need to compare this phone with some high end phone like SS4 or SN2 it simply can run beside it.

I purchased this product from flipkart @9999 Awesome product with 8gb internal memory where 3.9 gb is reserved for system.2 gb ram and 64 gb expandable memory.there is 8 mega pixel primary camera and 2 mp front with flash. it is having ips. and 3g with wlan with intel core processor with dual core of hyper technology means it act as a quad core when many app is running. batery is 2110 mAh, this is the only problem it drained fast, otherwise very nice to have this, worth of money.

I y'day got delivery of my new zenphone 5 from flipkart.I found one measure issue in video playing.Whenever I am playing any video they are showing blurred. When I saw minutely it appeared that all videos are zoomed to 250 to 300 % while playing causing video quality pathetic.You can check it in mx player or vlc player by playing a video and then zooming out. Mine got dead after a month, i called the service center and they asked me to show them the phone. I was told the motherboard is gone and will needs to replaced, phone will not be. I have a Nexus 5 32GB and just bought a Zenfone 5 A500KL 4G. The simple comparison is that I find the Asus A500KL a more interesting phone in that its design, screen display; especially the text messaging display which is black text on a white background, with all punctuation able to be used without changing the keypad from alphabet. All features work well and smoothly with some special tweaks that are missing on the Nexus, especially FM Radio, very much missed on the Nexus. Both phones have a similar quality feel, Most people when shown the Asus Zenfone say "I didn't know Asus made phones too". Its a pity they are not retailed very well in Australia and actually are not officially released here, apart from Amaysim, the SIM only provider. Otherwise every Zenfone has to be sourced from China/Hong Kong via a few electrical goods retailers. Whilst the Nexus 5 costs close to a third as much again as a Zenfone, its performance is relatively similar, but from the 'personality' point of view, its a boring phone as may be seen from the number of fairly 'young' versions already for sale on eBay. The Nexus memory cannot be upgraded, whereas the Zenfone will take a SD memory card to bring available memory up to 64GB. So my simple comparison is that I like the Zenfone 5 better than the Nexus 5. The 4G A500KL Zenfone with 16GB/2GB RAM with its quad core Qualcom Snapdragon processor outshines the dual core/dual sim 3G version that has an Intel Atom processor, but not by too much. The screen area of both the Zenfone and the Nexus are the same, and the only drawback is that the Zenfone 5 is around 10mm longer from top to bottom, which makes it somewhat cumbersome and pokes out of a guys shirt pocket a fair way. I have to say that the Zenfone 6 with its 6" screen must be quite a handful. Resale value of my first 3G Zenfone 5 was a bit of shock, losing a third of its purhcase price in a couple of weeks, after I decided to upgrade fromm the 3G to the 4G LTE version, but glad I did. The Nexus 5 then.....? Well that's in the drawer for now! So my cinal word is that for value for money and a great experience I recommend the Zenfone 5 16GB/2GB ram 4G LTE A500KL, for which some sellers are asking silly prices, but can be had for around AU$250 + shipping from Asia of around AU$20.

As mentioned in their website dosen't seem to be correct as my fone fell from hand one or two time from the height of 1 or 2 feet and its glass literally cracked completely. Which should not happen. It was not even a month I bought the phone and there is no body to help. Asus services center charges Rs5000 for the same. the fone is of 13000 and the glass is worth 5000 which is not at all durable. It doesn't justify what it says. I bought this phone because of its gorilla glass thought it would be more durable then other phones however it is not. I would not recommend this phone to anyone as it is not at all durable.

I had one and every game works great but after playing 30 days phone shutdown itself while playing game and Asus service center declared it dead as motherboard chip set heated up and became dead. So I advised you Moto G Gen 2 is best phone you can get for same purpose. Charging the phone initially for 8 hrs breaks the initial warm up of the battery capacity making it available directly for use. AKA FULL CAPACITY. something like break-in. I don't follow this as this is similar to over charging. However, most device manual doesn't even suggests doing this and that they note that battery's full capacity will only be available after a number of charge and discharge cycles. so its like your skipping directly to having full capacity when initially charging the batt for 8hrs.

I love the Zenfone 5 LTE mobile phone. It's responsive. These camera modes, that is the Depth of Field and the Low Light modes produced good pictures. For my normal use (SMS, calls, email, FB, LinkedIn, Twitter), the battery lasted more than 8 hours. IMHO, it's a well worth device for the price.

I recently got the ASUS zenfone 5. look and build very gd. Battery ok not fantastic...manageable. camera is pretty ok and screen v well accepted. overall I give a 9 based on the price you are paying. surely better then xiaomi in term of the phone quality and the os as well. simple and easy to use.Recommended to buy.

You do not kitkat to do the app transfer from internal storage to SD card.... The factory out zenfones has 4.3 and with that you can do it easily.. Follow me here on that task: 1. Settings > Apps 2. Tap on Moveables. You get a list of apps that can handle that. 3. Tap on the app and and you get the app info page. 4. Tap on "Move to device Storage" or to SD cards. Voila ... done. - no infrared or factory out OTG is available...

GUI and Software: splendid work on GUI. ZenUi is the best skin I knew and used over Android OS. I just love the way the fonts and colors are used on this phone giving it a premium look. Installed apps are just fine. Waiting for the KITKAT update. Hardware: nothing to say, the phone says it all. Superb performance ... superb speed, superb touch and display. Camera performance is just fabulous. I am still evaluating all centimeter of it. I just can not say in words how I love this device being mine. I bought one more after sometime. Headphone wire length is less but good quality. I am loving it. Few things though can be worked upon by Asus. Display brightness. It is really low but ways available to increase and control it. Battery back up is a note for all. Do not expect much if you are a power user. keep a back up if roaming. Builtin speaker is not that good and loud but I think these speakers are not made for others listening the device from far. The Asus flip cover is a bit concern looking at the price tag. It is heavily priced. Better you all go for a 3rd party on this. Asus after sales service is also okay. The email support is fine.
